    Celia Fortner
Voiced by (Japanese): Yuka Shioyama

"We do not desire the dark lord, per se. For god to be perfectly good, there must be a being of perfect darkness."

The head priestess of a cult known as "With Light". She fervently believes that good cannot exist in the universe without an equal evil to balance it. With this in mind, she seeks to find someone to step up to the position of lord of darkness in Dracula's absence, or coerce Soma to change his mind.

  • Asshole Victim: Regardless of if she's killed by a pissed-off Soma or a power-hungry Dmitrii, nobody's sorry to see her go.
  • Big Bad: Essentially, she moves forward the plot, she's the one who wants to resurrect Dracula after all, and took every measure possible.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Sure, get Soma to become the new Dracula by (not really) killing his girlfriend in front of him and goading him to focus his hatred on you so the dark forces consume him. What Could Possibly Go Wrong? Well, aside from the obvious, he could also have a talisman on him that would put it to a halt.
  • Expy: She's a more powerful and sane version of a similar cultist and head priestess from another Konami property; Claudia Wolf.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: If she manages to turn Soma into Dracula, he promptly kills her. If the honor goes to Dmitrii, he uses her as a sacrifice.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: Every time she teleports herself or someone else, she gives off one of these.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: Unlike most Castlevania center antagonists, she's never shown fighting herself at all.
  • Summon Magic: She never actually fights, but calls forth demons to her aid. She is likely responsible for the various monsters that appear throughout the game.
  • Targeted to Hurt the Hero: Kills (a doppelganger of) Mina in front of Soma's eyes in an effort to make him give in to his darkness.
  • The Unfought: Soma never has the chance to fight her, as she is killed offscreen by Dmitrii, with her corpse serving as a sacrifice to aid him against Genya.

    Dario Bossi
Voiced by (Japanese): Takahiro Fujimoto

"Hunh? Whaddaya sayin'? I wanted to pummel that uppity jerk myself!"

A potential dark lord candidate, he is a criminal born on the same day as Dracula's demise. He possesses the ability to control fire.

  • Avenging the Villain: Subverted. He is less annoyed that Soma killed Dmitrii and more that he wasn't the one to do it.
  • Brought Down to Normal: In the true path, Soma refrains from killing Dario and instead goes after Aguni, stopping his power at the source. He promptly flees.
  • Deal with the Devil: Strengthens his fire magic through a pact with Aguni.
  • Dirty Coward: His true colors, he is only confident due to his flame powers. Once Aguni is taken care of and Soma grimly affirms Dario has been Brought Down to Normal, he screams in terror and runs away.
  • Dumb Muscle: A sort. He is powerful, but it's hard for him to connect the dots and he sucks at planning things out.
  • Jerkass: Is nothing but rude and disrespectful, especially to his own allies.
  • Playing with Fire: Has the ability to control fire. Defeating the demon, Aguni (if you have Paranoia's soul, that is), allows Soma to render him completely powerless.
  • The Mirror Shows Your True Self: During the second fight against him, you can see Aguni in the mirror in the background whenever Dario passes in front of it. If you have Paranoia's soul, you can enter the mirror and fight Aguni himself. If you defeat Aguni, you cripple Dario and at the same time, spare his life. See Brought Down to Normal.
  • Punny Name: His name is based on "Mario Rossi," the Italian equivalent to "John Doe".
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Red to Dmitrii's blue. Not only he dresses in red, but also controls fire and spends most of dialogues with No Indoor Voice.
  • The Social Darwinist: He seems to have this going on, asserting that power is about the survival of the fittest.
  • Sole Survivor: Of the 3 main villains, he is the only one to escape with his life. Celia is killed by Dmitrii and Dmitrii is overwhelmed by all of the demon souls he has collected which tear his body apart. After Soma destroys the source of Dario's powers, Dario flees the castle.
  • Stupid Evil: He only really cares about getting as much power as he can, with no planning or cares about how to go about it.
  • Shout-Out Theme Naming: As with the usual references to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Dario shares his initials with series antagonist Dio Brando and his first name with Dio's father. In a similar way, Dario is also named after Dario Argento, another prolific name in horror for his work on Dawn Of The Dead.

    Dmitrii Blinov
Voiced by (Japanese): Hidehiko Kaneko

"You dare pity me? Soon you shall be the one that will be pitied upon."

A potential dark lord candidate who was born on the same day that Dracula died. He possesses the ability to mimic any attack with which he is hit.

  • Affably Evil: He is far less malicious than Dario, and repeatedly states that he is merely interested in learning the meaning behind his abilities. Until the end.
  • Asshole Victim: He eventually copied the Power of Dominance from Soma, only for it to outright turn against and kill him. And just like Celia, he deserved it.
  • Back from the Dead: Via a Grand Theft Me on a doppelganger.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Both he and Dario are this by definition of being Dark Lord Candidates, but Dmitrii came closer to the goal than Dario did. He seems to supplant Celia by sacrificing her at the end of the game, gaining enough power that even Genya couldn't defeat him... and then it turns out that he can't control it.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Unable to control the souls of the demons he absorbed, they merge together into one being and violently erupt from his back. The face he makes right before this happens makes it clear that this is immensely painful.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: The first time we see him, although the creature is called Malachi in this game.
  • Eldritch Abomination: His second death spawns one in the form of Menace, a gigantic amalgamation of every soul he absorbed.
  • Evil Is Not a Toy: The dark lord's power overcomes him, killing him and turning his souls into Menace.
  • Good Smoking, Evil Smoking: Official artwork shows him smoking a cigarette. This is the only instance of him doing such.
  • Grand Theft Me: Has his soul absorbed by Soma, copies his power of dominance, and then manages to possess a doppelganger to use as a new body.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Dmitrii learns the hard way in the Golden Ending, to his disbelief, that the power of dominance he copied from Soma isn't so easily contained and that, according to Arikado, his soul can't withstand a power that intense. His condition only continues to get worse even after he shoves Arikado away, and it isn't too long before the demons under his dominance burst out of his back, leaving him to die as a result before fusing together to form the Menace.
  • Insufferable Genius: He is quite knowledgeable and has little patience for Dario's stupidity.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: He's the only villain in the series to ever defeat Alucard, with the help of human sacrifices and a "calamitous demon". Soma arrives after the battle is over.
  • Power Copying: His inherent ability.
  • Power-Up Letdown: His only available attack is the last soul ability with which he was hit. As a result, he can be forced to assume a particularly wimpy offense.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Blue to Dario's red. Not only is he dressed in mainly blue, but he is also calm for most the time and plots his plans carefully.
  • The Starscream: He promptly takes the position of Big Bad from Celia upon his revival. Though to be fair, him or Dario taking over was always the plan from the start.
  • Walking Spoiler: He has little screentime before his death early in the game, making it hard to talk about him without mentioning his role in the Golden Ending.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: When defeated, he promptly dies and Soma absorbs his soul, to his horror.

    Menace
Unlike Soma, Dmitrii could not control the Power of Dominance and is consumed by it. Dmitri is forcibly fused with the souls of countless demons, creating this gigantic and terrifying amalgamation.
  • Attack Its Weakpoint: It can only be killed by destroying the three heads on its chest, knee and in its mouth, the last of which resembles Dmitrii. The chest head needs to be destroyed in the first phase.
  • Body of Bodies: Composed of a multitude of demons (and Dmitrii). It's almost like a humanoid counterpart to Legion.
  • Bludgeoned to Death: A One-Hit Kill can be done to it in Harmony of Despair, involving the player(s) luring it to a switch in the upper-left corner of the map and pressing it, releasing a hammer and killing it instantly upon impact. On harder difficulties it will not deal a One-Hit Kill, but still deal a ton of damage.
  • Final Boss: Of Dawn of Sorrow (and of the original Castlevania timeline as a whole), Soma needs to slay this foul creature before it escapes the Abyss and wrecks havok on the world.
  • Flunky Boss: Menace's only means of direct attack are a relatively straightforward punch and a simple stomp, both of which are very slow and very heavily telegraphed. The real challenge in the battle is trying to hit him while simultaneously dodging his rather familiar-looking flying minions. Slightly downplayed by the fact that his minions do not register in the bestiary as individual entities, suggesting they may be part of Menace himself.
  • Fusion Dance: The result of one.
  • Moveset Clone: It has a similar moveset to the Golems and Treants found throughout the game.
  • Skull for a Head: Its head is skeletal in appearance, but it is notable for having two mouths. One of which has another head in it.
