[up] That would be kinda hard to write a story about. How different are the alternate realities? How would the character maintain relationships in each if they're separate? Are they separate?

Unless, of course, there are other characters who can phase between realities. Then it becomes a multiverse-bending conflict.

Award-winning screenwriter. Directed some movies. Trying to earn a Creator page. I do feedback here.

^ it's part of a larger concept I've had for years where there are certain individuals with that ability (persons who have no AU counterparts) exist, including one neanderthal man from an alternate Earth where neanderthals were still living.

Name: Darkfire

Alignment: Neutral (wants to be good... so very very badly.)

Powers: Disintegration, healing factor. Megan can produce a disintegration field that unravels things at a sub, sub atomic level. The rate and range of her power depends on her emotional state; the more aggravated and upset she is the faster and farther the power can work. The field is willful and deactivates when she is asleep or unconscious. Her control over it also varies with her emotional state, and is very draining of her own strength and endurance. When the field is at its strongest, it can disintegrate any physical object it comes in contact with and scatter light and energy to harmless levels. To conserve energy, she can either cover her hands in black fire, or project black beams or smaller, potent shields. This leaves her at risk of an attack. If exhausted, Megan can castfromhitpoints with the power draining and weakening her. At rest, Megan heals as her body resets to the quantum state she was in when first exposed. Some theorize this means she can't physically beyond that point.

Weaknesses: Squishy

Back story: Megan Price didn't have a happy life. Her mother died when she was two years old, and her father was a quantum physicist studying the decay of the universe and theories on the 'big rip'. Her father had a profoundly inappropriate sexual relationship with her that did NOTHING for her psychological health, as he maintained a tight control over her life, up to and including dragging her to work at the college. One day, however, the lab was attacked by a Chinese backed terrorist group trying to seize the apparatus from the college in order to make a quantum explosion. Her father placed her in a special isolation chamber where he hoped she'd be safe. The terrorists, failing to get the equipment before the cops were involved, set off the bomb. Everything within a thousand feet was vaporized except the contents of the isolation chamber. Megan fell a thousand feet and broke half the bones in her body. Her body, however, undergoes a quantum regression back to the point of the explosion and so regenerated.

Personality: Megan isn't a happy teenager. Mom gone, dad dead, she now finds herself targeted by both the terrorist organization and the feds, the former wanting to use her to set off an even bigger explosion in a nicely populated area like New York or Washington, then later to prevent such from happening and to question her involvement in the disaster. Megan's incestuous relationship with her father has given her plenty of angst to fuel her powers in a pinch. She craves love, but loathes the fact she was controlled and used. If not careful, and there are plenty of supervillains encouraging this, she'll snap and go evil. She currently is a runaway, alternating between taking what she needs to survive, selling her body, and the kindness of those she manages to help.

The thing about this villain is that he is actually two identical villains that wage war against each other for eternity.

Name: The Commander(s) Alignment: Chaotic Neutral.

Powers: Has one of two forms: a modern rifleman and an hybrid between a Darth Vader Clone and a Power Ranger.

His rifleman form is a result of his self duplication abilities. These duplicates (and their weapons) can become extremely weak and inaccurate the more of them there are in a given area. However, he is able to see through all of their eyes simultaneously and uses less energy than his other form even when there are many duplicates.

His super form is unique to one body at any given time. He only uses this form when he gets really pissed at something or someone. In this form he is both a Flying Brick and Flying Firepower and can lay waste to cities in mere minutes while still have enough stamina and endurance to continuously fight for eons.

Weaknesses: Stubbornness and pride. The two would always fight each other even as a third party seeks to end their destructive feud. They also prefer to let an outside foe have time to prepare for a final showdown rather than surprising them for a quick and easy victory.

Personality: Conflict incarnate. These two only know how to fight, how to destroy, and how to kill. As stated above they are very stubborn and prideful, as such they would never give up their feud and have a tendency to ham out the fact to anyone else that tries to stop them.

Oh and one is RED and the other is BLUE.

This one's perhaps better as a fantasy character than a superhero one, but there's always a bit of crossover.

Current Name: The Sage of the Bloodied Mountain.

Alignment: Old-man Neutral: "Get off my lawn."

Powers: Partial omniscience. He can hear and process everything in the universe at once, including thoughts, and things you're not generally supposed to be able to hear like light. This has given him access to an absolute library of magical and marital skill as a side effect, and the ability to find his way through almost any environment. While he's ancient, he ages incredibly slowly and will likely be alive for at least another milleinea.

Weaknesses: He also hears all the evil and disgusting things in the universe. While this has not driven him insane, knowing far, far more than what man was meant to know has driven him to extreme misanthropy and pessimism. In addition, he's nonviolent and actually somewhat cowardly: preferring to move away from hostile forces and sources of evil than to fight them, even if he could easily beat them. He resolutely refuses to try and improve the world.

Personality: As mentioned before, the Sage is misanthropic and pessimistic in the extreme, yet non confrontational. He just wants to be left alone with his thoughts. As a result, he's always moving to various incredibly hostile and isolated places, largely to avoid the inevitable hordes of people who would, understandably, want the omniscient sage to tell them the secrets of life, the universe, and everything. As such, people still attempt to make the hazardous journey to his current location, and while he'll generally refuse to answer existential questions on principle, he's more willing to answer less nebulous questions such as "how can I defeat this guy" or "where is the axe of barrenoth?" However, he won't do so without payment; usually involving offers to make the path to reach him even more hazardous and impassable.

He hasn't quite resorted to sending himself into space yet, but he's about to try...

This one works as a supervillain although that's not the way he's used in my stories, but he'd make a good one (since that's what he believes himself to be)

NAME: "Skin" (An alias, the latest of several thousand)

BIRTHDATE: Sometime in the paleolithic era prior to the neanderthal extinction

POWERS:

  • Immortality, or damn close to it. He heals so quickly nothing can harm him permanently. Nothing can seriously injur him. If cut, his skin heals faster than he can bleed. If shot, his internal organs force the bullet out and then repair themselves. As an astronaut, he once tried committing suicide on the moon by taking off his helmet; it knocked him out, the other astronaut hauled him back to the landing module, and he woke up, still alive. NASA covered this up, not wanting the public to lose faith in the moon landings. "Skin" was institutionalized briefly before going underground as a faceless, secretive warlord in Southeast Asia, gaining control of a major faction in the wars there. He used his power and influence to stave off his boredom by playing massive, bloody games of human chess.

  • Chameleon Skin: Approximately ever 15-30 years, Skin must move on before others discover his secret. This coincides with physical changes: rather than age, Skin changes his appearance, involuntarily, but enough to match the local population. Changes include the color of his eyes, skin, hair, etc. It's subtle enough not to be noticed when it starts but it's always a sign that it's time to move on.

PERSONALITY: Pure misanthrope. He has been alive so long that life- his, or others'- no longer matters to him. As he likes to ramble, "I've been the slave and the master. I've walked on the moon and I've walked through Death Valley. I've panned gold and spent gilded day in luxury. I've been conquered and I've been the conqueror." Skin is obsessed with war because he is hoping one day to finance the development of a weapon that can kill even him. So far, he's had no luck. Skin resolves to be at the center of that explosion. Skin is evil because he no longer values anything in life. His unending life has caused him to start finding pleasure in pain, and Skin seriously enjoys self mutilation, though he keeps it in places covered normally by clothes in order to blend in and not be recognized. Has spent the last several decades attempting to engineer his own death (and by proximity, the deaths of thousands or millions or people).

Here's one that I used I'm making available to those who want a Kid Hero:

Amanda Jones was a Spoiled Sweet Emo Teen. Her father owned a successful business, but she'd rather dance and party to music. However an industrial accident at her father's warehouse exposed her to several pesticides and hazardous chemicals. Choosing to save her friend and several of her father's employees at the risk of her own life, she passed out.

An insect spirit took notice of this bravery and "sent her back".

The spirit was moved by Amanda's determination and decided to give her a body that's a lot tougher and able to handle all sorts of abuse. When she woke up from her coma, she now had the wings, arms and antenna of a cockroach. She promised Amanda no further changes in exchange for Amanda becoming an environmentalist. Amanda supports several wildlife causes but still wants to be a musician.

Relevent Tropes:

I'm releasing her under the creative commons license. As long as you credit me remix her, subvert her tropes or play them straight. Have fun and happy writing!

A villain idea I've posted in other threads.

Name: Original name unknown; changes names/identities often.

Alignment: Lawful Selfish. Uses his/her ability to manipulate people for petty amusement.

Power: Manifests as two people at the same time, and is able to control both of his/her personae independently of the other. If one persona is destroyed, the surviving half can produce a new one, usually with a brand new appearance.

Story: After mastering his/her ability ("not doing the 'both speaking at the same time' thing" was one of the harder tricks to learn), s/he took up politics. S/he masquerades as two (equally corrupt) Strawmen Political, one for each major party, and runs against themselves every election year. Whenever one persona loses favor, they drop out, vanish under uncertain circumstances, then don a new face and reemerge as a rising political player to continue the cycle. In the story I intended for them, the plot is only figured out during an investigation into an assassination attempt on a third-party candidate.

Name: Copy 303

Gender: Masculine programming

Personality: Creepy, warped sense of right and wrong, monstrous.

Appearance: Look at my profile.

Powers: Ability to melt into shadows, and create small objects out of Hardlite™

Backstory: A government project involving A.I. and a solid, plasma like material created a humanoid Hard Light... entity. The being would be able to create constructs or copies of itself, providing there was enough Hardlite™ in it's reserves. Unfortunately, it became clear after a couple thousand copies created, that the older copies began to deteriorate after a few weeks. Copy 303 was the first reported case of copy deterioration in the project. 303's behaviour indicates that he suffered a mental breakdown after he learned of his condition, and mysteriously vanished from the project recently.

Name: Harry Jenkins/ Elliotona Alexander bloodmane
Alignment: for harry, neutral good. For Elliot, chaotic neutral yet is on the side of good because of irma
Powers: Harry has no powers but he is gifted with a high IQ that rivals that of famous scientists of the past and present. He can calculate and imagine the thing he needs to solve complicated situations as well as invent new gadgets for himself and Elliot.
Coming from a long line of inccubui and succubui, Elliot is natural ladies man( even though he's a bisexual) and will easily make both men and women fall for his handsome good looks but don't forget he can use his kiss of death to drain the souls of victims when his and their lips meet. He can also manipulate fire and magic when in combat or maybe just to screw around for the most part. He's quite strong and quick, easily running across skyscraper to skyscraper with ease.
Weaknesses: Harry is quite short and scrawny. He could easily be crushed by things way more stronger than he is and he can be quite frankly afraid of everything around him. Elliot on the other has only but a few weakness, like the sunlight, holy objects( except for the bible, that can only stun him or knock him cold) and getting distracted by sexy men and women.
Backstory: Elliot had journeyed the land to find his beloved Isabella when was captured by an evil sorcerer and his sworn rival. He maul down hordes of his minions with his mighty axe and busted through the castle's gate, their laid Isabella, his he beautiful and fair wife locked in chains lying beside the sorcerer himself. Elliot charged at him while the sorcerer haul arcane blast at at yet Elliot burst through them like they were nothing. Elliot nearly pummeled the sorcerer before the sorcerer used a spell to lock him up inside book for all eternity.
Flash toward to modern day where a short nerdy boy is stuck in a library trying hope someone would find him but to no avail. That's when he stumbles upon an ancient book called the tome of abber, which contained information about every mythical creature ever recorded in history. Puzzled and curious, he flipped through the pages until he stumbles upon a certain page with a pale skinned, long haired man locked in an assortment of chains. Harry reads the poem out of curiosity yet it didn't seem to work. He try to leave the book alone but a shadow ghost grabbed him and entered his mouth which leads to Harry feeling weak. He soon falls to the floor into a coma induced state.
After the events that unfolded yesterday, he finally can do some homework and study for that upcoming test. However, when he tried to write down on his paper, the pencil broke. He felt something was wrong until he noticed he was growing claws. He fell from his chair in panic. His body almost felt like it burning up and he could feel the pain as while his clothes felt tight around him. His poor shirt tore apart as his muscle mass increased along with his pants which ripped along the seams. His shoes burst apart to make way for his now black clawed feet. Harry screamed in pain as his teeth grew and lengthened into razor sharp fangs. His hair gotten longer while his once ginger hair changed to a crimson red. His eyes were now yellow green with cat like slits. After the transformation was done, Harry had lost control of his body and blacked out with another mind taken his. The newly awakened man stood up moaned in pleasure and got himself a glance of what he looked like in the mirror. His eyes were lovely as well as his chiseled chin. His skin was of a pale snow color, his claws dark as the night and his physique quite muscular and a bit curvy. The man wasn't pleased he had to wear tattered clothing but he did hope there was a place where some kind of merchant sold some lovely clothes that would fit him well. He leaped out of the window to search for it as well as have some fun too.
The next morning, Harry woke up in his bed, not remembering what just happened. He lifted himself off the bed of which he looked at the mirror and scream. He was wearing a some kind of skimpy outfit that consisted of a man thong. Long thigh high boots which are were topless and lack soles and a belts that connected to the side of his thong. As lastly, he wore fingerless long gloves with that too. Harry went back to his bed and stood there wincing.
Personality: Harry is very shy and introverted. He likes to live alone but doesn't mind hanging out with people for the most part. He can be quite geeky and loves to explain in detail everything about any given subject or franchise. He's kinda nice when he opens up to people but is prone to feel jealous sometimes.
Elliot on the other hand is wild and fun loving party animal. He doesn't like fitting in the norm and never wants to listen authorities or anyone he thinks they can control him. He wants to do whatever he wants when ever he wants and will not stop until he satisfied with his so called fun time. Yet he can be nice especially to his on and off girlfriend , irma who showed him that being a rebellious bad boy isn't always the case which moved him to the side of good. He still a bad boy though...a flirty one at that. Oh and I almost forgot, he isn't accustomed to the 21st century yet since he's from the middle ages.

Posted this in the Writer's Block thread

Name: Game Over (He named himself that because that's what happens to his victims who are forced to "play his game")

Gender: Male

Age: ?

Alignment: Villain (Final Boss-level)

Appearance: A humanoid, semi-transparent Virtual Ghost-like program made of polygons.

Powers, weapons, ect.: Has the power to open a portal to cyberspace and drag victims in or send his Mooks out. There, he is skilled at creating the most horrifying Goddamned Bats, Demonic Spiders, Invincible Minor Minions and Kung Fu Proof Mooks. Basically, a Killer Game Master.

In a fight, Game Over is no slouch, frequently using very damaging, hard-to-avoid (or even outright unavoidable) attacks such as homing lasers, as well as moves that instantly "delete" his victims. Being a cyber being, he exists on an immaterial plane, making him immune to all physical attack. He is also immune to all "negative statuses", such as Mind Manipulation, The Corruption, and others, due to "final bosses being immune to such negative statuses".

Weaknesses: As a cyber being, Game Over requires an internet connection to remain outside cyberspace. Very overconfident that his Goddamned Bats, Demonic Spiders, Boss in Mook Clothing and That One Boss units will destroy the heroes.

Personality: Game Over takes pleasure in seeing others despair, dragging his victims into cyberspace where they have to suffer against endless waves of his minions. He is also very intelligent and Genre Savvy, often having backup plans. He alternates between being serious, soft spoken and hilariously Large Hammy depending on how he wants his opponents to suffer. However, he is actually a tragic being- it is revealed that he was once a videogame developer (specifically, an enemy designer) who got his mind broken and corrupted by the Eldritch Location/Genius Loci that is cyberspace, transformed into the horror that he is now.

Name: Dr. Ichor aka Cybermaster

Motivation:Formally, to guide humanity in it's next evolution. Currently, to force humanity to evolve and discard the old and corrupt power structures.

Powers: Genius level intellect, Masters Degrees in Bioengineering, Material Chemistry, and Computer Science. Ph D in Nanotechnology. Skilled Tactician and veteran superhero. Complete Mastery of Ichor uses and manufacture. Talented Chef.

Ichor: A solution of nanomachines in a protective oil. The oil protects the nanomachines from salinity, extreme acids or bases, ultraviolet light, and electrical shocks. Ichor is well known for it's ability to form almost any solid object from swords to guns to fully animated constructs. It's only limitations is it's mass and clarity of instructions. It's medical capabilities are equally impressive, described as being able to perform any treatment from inside the body.

Only Dr. Ichor truly understands Ichor. While Shiro's notes and patent are public record, understanding them requires a solid understanding in a wide range of disciplines and the ability to learn new ones on the fly. Many of Ichor's mechanics are complicated and Hamada needed to invent terms to describe them. Most large scale corporations can only create Ichor a few drops at a time but Dr. Ichor consistently shows up to battle with entire liters of the stuff.

Ichor was so named because in it's inactive state, it's described as one of the most disgusting substances ever created, being greasy, slimy, and grainy at the same time with a pitch black coloration

Weakness: Physically a baseline human. Requires Ichor to be a credible threat to most metahumans. Ichor is vulnerable to extreme heat and magnetic fields. Anti-social tendencies. Not nearly as ruthless as he lets on.

Backstory: Shiro Hamada was always brilliant but socially isolated. Growing up in japan to busy parents, Shiro learn two things. First, how to take care of himself. Second, the contents of his father's decorative library. By the time he was 12 he had his first breakthrough, a baseball sized semi-sentient drone he called Harumaru

Shiro began his superhero career shortly after and despite many false starts eventually was recruited by an official superhero organization. It was there that he received tutelage by some of the most brilliant scientists in the world. By the time he was 17, Cybermaster was a well respected hero specializing in drone warfare and variable ammunition.

By the time he was 20, Cybermaster invented Ichor. However, it was about this time that Shiro was growing to resent the society he was protecting. White collar crime ran rampant, bureaucratic red tape did more harm than good, and governments were rife with corruption. Six months after revealing his creation, Dr. Hamada resigned his positions. All of them. Three month later, he was committing supervillainy.

Personality: Dr. Ichor has always appeared cool and calculating. It's not that he doesn't care, he just sucks and expressing it. So he doesn't. His true emotions never seem to break the facade. Except for rage.

Fundamentally, Dr. Ichor is angry. He's angry in the way a cop is angry at seeing the villain walk free. He's angry in the way a scientist is angry at seeing his work being used for evil. He's angry the way a young man with a cause can be.

He's angry at the corporations for trying to monopolize his work. He's angry at the government for tying his hands. He's angry at his former allies for trying to stop him.

He's angry at himself because this is the only solution he can see. Shiro Hamada knows that what he's doing is wrong and causing hardship for other people. However, he believes that if he does succeed he'll avoid more suffering in the long run.

Shiro's rage is ultimately is greatest flaw. He's a thinker who uses his brains to work his way out of problems. However, Dr. Ichor is so filled with rage that it often blinds him to the best solution. Sometimes, the best way to stop him is to get him talking.

Name: Eliza Heather Ashford-Whitley, CEO of Ashford, Roberts and Andrews LLC. Motivation: Control over financial markets, control over society, someday her friends and family with have near absolute power. She hear tales of the Nazi rise to power, the USSR’s cat and mouse games during the Cold War and how her family made it’s money during Prohibition.

Powers: A baseline human with a good skill at reading people and strong financial skills. A master manipulator, she has many investigators and superheroes looking for the “Theta Council/Thule Society” a supposed secret society with Nazis and such. In fact that’s just a creation of hers based on an offhanded comment by her husband. As the “supreme leader” she does get the perk of leading gullible mooks to their doom while her real operations are untouched.

Weakness: She’s only human, she has her husband and family. She HATES losing money. She has the reputation of a savvy legitimate businesswoman, she’s taken great care to see that her dealings with criminals and terrorists don’t ever come to light. She views science as a way to make money and workers as a resource to be exploited if necessary. She’s a Slave to PR so anything that makes “ARA” look bad is a set back. Running Both Sides leading to a Gambit Pileup: ARA sells weapons to governments and law enforcement and supports superheroes and their front companies sell to terrorists, war criminals and supervillains.

Backstory: A Corrupt Corporate Executive, Eliza was from “old money” back east. However her family lost that money in the 1930’s and her family rebuilt it’s fortune after a move to Denver, Colorado. While in college she discovered that one of her professors was a wanted former Nazi. Another was a wanted radical from The '60s now making a living in finance and teaching economics. Her parents lost almost all the family money in The '80s and The '90s, only to suddenly “strike it rich”. Eliza had made some discoveries in computers and invested in the technology sector. Soon she was investing in many companies and sitting on several boards. She even married an actor. An all-American success story.

In reality she had made connections with several near-defunct networks of war criminals, radicals and terrorists who needed someone to launder their money. Her former professors recovered some Nazi gold and help former Soviet scientists “re-settle” in the USA. She met with dictators, radical groups and supervillains in need of weapons and cash. Her husband, “Victor Andrew Whitley” is a former KGB sleeper agent who turned his talents to acting after The Great Politics Messup. His “entourage” is also a cover for several arms deals. He does love his wife and their children however.

Currently Ashford, Roberts and Andrews is gathering information on governments and businesses they can blackmail or control. ARA funds domestic terrorists and sells/brokers military grade hardware to police agencies. They support superheroes and fund thinktanks/pundits that say “supers must be controlled”. They have contracts to support militaries in over 30 countries and support terrorists that are fighting those 30 countries. ARA is where supervillains go shopping for all the toys they need and where they get lawyers to defend them in court.

Personality: A “thousand watt smile” hides a sharp mind. Eliza looks and acts like a woman born into money who doesn’t know how to use it. Her husband acts like a playboy actor who’s tabloid fodder. Neither is true. Eliza uses the media as a weapon: information, like people, can be manipulated. Outside of her family she only cares about money and power. Being a Slave to PR she does make sure that ARA funds a lot of charities and does disaster relief. Eliza sees the world as a stage and history as a “great game”: either the world will surrender itself to her out of fear or she’ll be on top when the rubble stops falling.

Name: Kim Nguyen aka Samantha Harris, called herself Chaos later in her (brief) superhero career.

Motivation: To live a normal live. Unfortunately, life has other plans.

Power: Immense natural magical ability, specialize in summon and control magical creatures

Weakness: She is The Fettered and has serious mental issues due to her unhappy childhood that doesn't get treated properly because of her poverty and hatred for psychologist. Her power can also accidentally create nightmarish creatures that she can't control if she fully unleash it.

Backstory: Once raised as a mixed race kid in a normal household with an Vietnamese single father, her life turned upside down when her father died in a car crash when she was 12. With no living relatives, she got placed in an orphanage and changed her name to Samantha 2 years later out of recommendation of the head of the orphanage that a mixed-race kid like her would get an easier time getting adopted (and will bring the orphanage more money) if she passed as white.

She was adopted by an upcoming conservative politician Caroline Harris in North Carolina mostly as a political stunt to distract her followers from the bad press that her teenage daughter ran away, Kim thought that her new life has took a turn for a better until the day that she discovered that said daughter ran away because Caroline Harris's husband James suffered from MbP after discovered that he secretly put insecticide in her food. When she confront him, the confrontation turned violent and Kim unleashes her power for the first time, calling out a creature based on the Beast from fairytale that she read earlier to kill him. Caroline discovered this and commit Kim to a mental institution in order to cover or spin the incident from the public. Kim was told that this is for her safety and learn to control her power.

Within 6 months in the mental institution, it was clear that these doctors doesn't have any interest in actually helping her. They regularly abuses their power to harass her, placed her in isolation and she discovered that the pills they gave her actually subdue and increase her mental instability. The final straw is when she saw the news in the TV that her adopted mother won the reelection, moving to New York city and publicly smear Kim on the news. This reawaken her power and she called out a dragon to smash the mental institution and went on a rampage to New York city. Luckily she was stopped by the other superheroes there and they took her in out of pity. However, she is still secretly plotting revenge against her adoptive mother under their noses.

Personality: Broken, self-loathing and violent. She doesn't like interact with other people because of a feeling that they all let her down. Having to change her name and kill someone also seriously damage her self-esteem

(I try to write a "gritty" backstory for a female character without relying on the easy trap of sexual violence. I think I succeed in that regard).

Power: The ability to erase anyone's memory back to the last Monday of the week. Works only on living organisms. Sight-based (Stare for more than ten seconds at the same person with sight unobstructed at them.)

Drawback: It only erases the memory backwards to Monday and it is worthless if used on an actual Monday, as the memory loss is non-existent at that point unless a day has passed forward from there.

...

2.

Gender: Female

Alias: "Sunday Enddays"

Power: The ability to cut a target's lifespan short by setting the end of it to the next incoming Sunday, regardless of how much is left of it. Touch-based (skin-contact). Works only on living organisms.

Drawback: It can only set the death at the next Sunday, not a moment later or sooner. Meaning that if used on a Monday, the target has six days left to live and and if used on a saturday, only have one. Can't be undone.

...

Both:

Occupation: Henchmen. Two of seven. The name of their group "Week's End"

Their Boss' Alias: "Newday Nevercome"

Attitude: Resigned to the job, as their boss through its power, will never allow them to die while on the job, no matter how many times they fail or have to do it over if the end result doesn't fit the boss' standards of success. Due to the drawbacks of their powers, they live in agony as they can't show the affection towards one another as much as other people can do themselves.

Real names: None. (As a price for their powers, basically erasing their former existence as ordinary citizens and human beings in order to become what they are today. Not even themselves remember who they were anymore and it will last that way until they lose their respective powers and becomes normal people again, which, considering their boss, might never happen...)

Real Name: Andrew Zenner Alias: Apex

Powers: Regeneration, heightened senses, venomous bite and other “animalistic” powers.

Other: A mad scientist who got his powers by gene-splicing himself with various predators. Leader of “the Pack,” a Religion of Evil that revolves around “predators” (adherents) preying on (and usually eating) human prey. Most members are minor supervillains with some animal theme, empowered with the same technology he used on himself, usually sticking with one animal as they rise in the ranks and earn more modifications.

Hero Name: Glass Knight

Real name: Henry St.George

Powers: Control over silica and silica based materials. This includes loose sand, glass, fiber glass, and quartz. Glass Knight can transform these materials freely from one form to another and even has some control over concrete if it was made with quartz sand. Maximum range, 3 feet from any point on his skeleton.

Strengths: Unusually strong willpower and tolerance for pain. Exceptional training ethic and talent for close combat.

Weaknesses: Too talented at close combat. Henry demonstrates a startling degree of aggression in combat and struggles to limit his blows to less than lethal strength. Psych profile suggest a degree of bloodlust unbecoming of a hero despite Glass Knight's efforts to reign it in.

This factor may be genetic as Glass Knight's father, Iron Knight, is an infamous burglar and safe cracker known for breaking into high security vaults for the sake of the challenge.

Hero Name: Shatterproof

Real Name: Lily Fox

Powers: Rubber Woman, Voice Changeling, Sizeshifter, limited Human Shifting (she can't change her skin and hair color)

Origin: As Silver Age as it gets. Lily Fox, a Mohawk Native scientist, studied at work a meteorite that turned out to be an alien probe that blasted her with a strange ray before collapsing. On her way home, she tried calling for a taxi, but gasped in horror as her arm stretched several meters upwards. Realizing what the probe gave her, she decides to try her best at being superheroic.

Personality: She's an Omnidisciplinary Scientist, an empath and Lawful Good superheroine who struggles to balance her life as a scientist, as a superhero and her life on The Rez. She's snarky, yet surprisingly kind. She tries to help her community with her scientific knowledge, having created an advanced water filter that bypasses the need for boiler advisories for instance.

Alias: Leet

Real Name: Gloria Benson

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Background: Gloria had always loved video games, and when her parents were caught in the crossfire of an alien invasion, her position as heiress to two of the wealthiest people on the planet allowed her to take that obsession to a new level. With the help of Hayley Derra, a self-described “mad-scientist for hire”, she became Leet, a respawning, thrillseeking mercenary.

Powers, etc: Thanks to her “sidekick,” Doctor Derra, Leet is a highly advanced cyborg whose memories, personality, etc, can be saved and downloaded into a clone body if she dies. This also has the benefit of allowing the duo to prepare multiple differently equipped and specialized bodies for different jobs, but by default each one has enhanced speed, strength, reflexes, agility, etc, as well as access to a wide array of weaponry, conventional and otherwise.

Personality: A thrillseeker who doesn’t really care about the morality of her clients, but has refused to kill civilians (outside the context of an assassination job) because killing people with no way to defend themselves is boring.

Alias: Dredd

Real name: Donald Zigour

Alignment: Lawful evil, type 2, he wishes for power over superhumans.

Powers: Within a certain radius he can cancel out other Wavers. He can turn this on and off with concentration. Naturally skilled marksmen and swordsmen.

Weakness: He is still mortal and shares normal weaknesses. He can be overconfident and will act rashly when his interest are threatened. His power has a delayed effect on transformed Wavers.

Backstory: A immoral businessman and former soldier. He owned only a small chain of businesses in the city. After the Wave, he made it his goal to gain control over the Waver population and use them to control the city and beyond from the shadows.

Personality: Calculated and precise. He enjoys having others fear him, considering himself some sort of king, he is very much a condescending bully yet can back up most of his threats.

Context: All my characters are set in an Afro-futuristic (of sorts) South Africa, where the energy of a cosmic storm is brought into a cosmopolitan city cause Mass Super-Empowering Event turning hundreds into Wavers (superhumans) the event is known as the Wave.

Alias: Buzz

Real Name: NA

Gender: Female

Alignment: Lawful Good, albeit with some Blue-And-Orange Morality

Powers: flight, telepathy, superhuman strength, toughness, etc, superhuman senses, including vision extending into ultraviolet

Background: A member of an insectoid alien race known to humans as the Swarmers, (their name for themselves is unpronounceable to human vocal cords and doesn’t translate very well) a eusocial race divided into multiple hives, each ruled by a powerfully psychic queen. There is nothing that could be called a central government of the race as a whole, and while a number of queens have lead invasions of Earth for various reasons, others are more peaceful. One of the more scientifically minded queens, intrigued by stories of the superheroes of Earth who had defeated so many of her kind, took advantage of a queen’s ability to decide her offspring’s DNA and produce separate castes to create a pair of unique somewhat humanoid “princesses,” with human-level intelligence, one instructed to be a hero, the other a villain, and sent them to Earth for research purposes.

Real Name: NA

Alias: Bug Bitch

Alignment: Neutral Evil

Name: Matilde Chang

Made-Up Name: Dayknight

Alignment: Is basically a serial killer of those she considers "bullies". Targets can range from powerful figures (like celebrities or politicians) to rude people to just those she thinks gave her the mean face. No matter how extreme or un-extreme she kills them all the same.

Powers: Can form objects from light that she then hardens into a substance that is very tough and versatile. Most often in the form of long rang weapons such as whips, chains, and tentacles but also things like throwing knives, arrows, and spears. Also has super speed and strength which are mostly used for movement.

Weaknesses: While hard to hit, she has the body of a normal human and can be injured just as easily. And powers don't work when in complete darkness and vary in strength depending on how much light there is.

Backstory: Matilde was once an ordinary middle school student who was shy, before developing what was essentially a Superpowered Evil Side called Dayknight that comes out whenever she has highly negative emotions. Dayknight first emerged in reaction to a teacher bad mouthing her and while Matilde didn't respond outwardly, the next day Matilde stayed home alone sick, at which point Dayknight emerged and went to the school, where she killed the teacher. As Dayknight wears a costume, nobody knew who Dayknight was, and even Matilde seems unaware of this other side of herself. Since then, Dayknight has a reign of terror over all the people that Matilde considers bad.

Personality: Matilde is your average introvert, nothing really distinctive. Dayknight is on the other hand very pompous and arrogant. Really into theatrics and can be pretty much described as operatic. She has a strong sense of justice, that is really more like that of a Knight Templar's. She is cruel to her enemies and likes to make examples of them by hanging their bodies in poetic and messed up ways. Sadistic, flamboyant, and ironic are the best ways to describe Dayknight.

Alias: Ratel

Real name: Matilda Thorn

Alignment: Chaotic Good, she is very much about fighting for the little man, whether there are gangs or corrupt officials. She does love to fight.

Powers: She absorbs kinetic energy which is stored in her muscle fibers which increases her strength. The more Kinetic energy she gets the stronger she becomes which means the longer she fights to more powerful she gets. With a standard amount of energy she rip a car door off and leap great distances.Even when without kinetic energy she is very strong and naturally durable surviving a car hitting her with only bruises.

Weakness: She is a hothead which causes her to act rashly. Whilst durable she has limits as high caliber bullets and needs the basic requirements of a human such as sleep and air.

Backstory: Coming from an Afrikaans family in South Africa, being the only girl in a family of four brothers she grew quite competitive and tomboyish. When finishing college she got a degree in engineering and moved to the big city. Running her own garage. She was exposed to the energy of the Wave which granted her powers. She acts as a defender of the streets, taking down anyone stupid enough to tussle with her.

Personality: Tomboyish and confident, which has been exacerbated by her newfound power. She enjoys a good fight, as well as showing off her strength. This can make her rash and charge head first into a situation. Yet she is not stupid being a skilled engineer and quick-witted and able to adapt on the spot. She prefers more male past-times.

Sincerely S Awatching.

I have this vague concept i haven't done anything with yet. Alternate universes are colliding/bleeding into each other, people and objects getting in the wrong places, and somebody has to figure out why reality is broken and hopefully fix it. Taser is the actual protagonist there, and the one i don't have a name for is the one who comes up with the group name.

I'm not entirely sure of their names.

The Strays

Cypress
  • A man without innate powers who can do teleportation magic, dissappearing and reappearing in a puff of red smoke. Its "battery" needs to be recharged with ingredients and ritual, the speed at which it depletes depending on distances and how many people are going. However he convinces the strays it's an innate power so they won't know the weakness and be able to remove his ability to recharge. He cannot Tele-Frag or directly turn it into Weaponized Teleportation.
  • His backstory and origin are a mystery which he's actively keeping secret, which implies something dark.
  • Often quiet, seemingly fearless, desires control, manipulates often and thinks he "must" do so in order to achieve the good end. Picked up The Strays because he viewed their powers as potentially useful tools, but does seem to care for them as people too and doesn't want them to come to pointless harm. Tries to push them towards murder and violence for their own good and his benefit. Paranoid and afraid of showing "weakness". Despite this he has charisma and leadership skills.

Taser

  • A woman with electric powers whom Cypress teaches to use them to power technology, cause electric disturbances, and stop peoples' hearts (at least he also gives her medical training so she can also be a human debiliator). It may also work like lightning.
  • She was denied entry to a superhero team because they already had an electricity guy. Cypress recognized this recruiting strategy as insanely stupid, and extends his hand to her. For some reason she decides to join the random guy.
  • Passionate and short-tempered, but also afraid of her powers (electricity can one-hit kill) and reluctant to actually kill people despite occassionally fantasizing about extreme violence on people who wrong her.

Crescendo

  • A woman who's not exactly a Musical Assassin but can use sounds and frequencies to induce Brown Note in hearers, like finding the right frequency to cause peoples' internal organs or brain fluid to vibrate unpleasantly, and other noise-based phenomenon from Brown Note's Real Life page (and possibly including something less propable) and can also break objects. This is possible through some prenatural instinct that allows her to inexplicably find the right frequencies.
  • She's encountered and recruited by Cypress and Taser at some point, as the second one. Taser is skeptical but Cypress views her ability as potentially useful. She was basically just some guy Cypress scoops up and who for some reason is able/has to come along.
  • Calm and nice. Generally psychologically normal.

?

  • A man who can regenerate himself and others through undecided means (healing power, i'm trying to make it unusual somehow. There could be a disturbing undercurrent to his power?).
  • Also picked up from somewhere.
  • Cheerful and easy-going, but has this (subtly) creepy side.
