Total Drama Tumblr is a series of roleplays hosted on Tumblr and is based off of the Total Drama franchise. It is divided into six seasons:

Total Drama Tumblr: Created and written by Tumblr user Willfosho, it is the first season of the series of roleplays, started on December 6th, 2013 and ended on January 3rd, 2014. With twenty-two contestants, played by both old and new roleplayers, Total Drama Tumblr's theme was very similar to the original Total Drama Island, taking place on Camp Wawanakwa. It holds the framework for most future seasons, and some future characters either were related to some contestants or knew them.

Total Drama City: The second, and arguably the most popular, season of the roleplays. Created by Willfosho, this season added two more writers: Jack and Diana, both returning roleplayers from season 1, to the list. Featuring twenty-four new contestants battling it out in a city hosted by Chris McLean and making them all stay in a hotel together while they compete. Arguably the most Darker and Edgier season, it contained more fleshed out roleplays, confessionals, and stories throughout. Running concurrently with Total Drama Tumblr, it started in December 2013 and concluded in April 2014.

Total Drama Video Games: The third season of Total Drama Tumblr. This one was co-created by Will and Jack, as Diana continued to be a third writer on the staff. A smaller season with fourteen new contestants, mostly old roleplayers with a few new ones, it took place in a virtual world and each challenge featured video games. Unfortunately, it was put on indefinite hiatus due to some issues within the community and was never finished.

Total Drama Colors: The fourth season of Total Drama Tumblr and a Soft Reboot of the roleplay franchise. The idea for this season was co-created by sstwins (from seasons 1 and 3), while Rox (from seasons 2 and 3) and Alli (from season 2) joined in as co-writers and artists making the staff of this season all brand new. Featuring twenty-one new contestants, played by both remnants of the original three seasons and new roleplayers alike, returns to the roots of City with the competition taking place in a deserted city with a hotel room staffed by Chris McLean's employees. Added to this is an added motif of colors. It started in July 2014 and was discontinued two years later.

Total Drama High School: The fifth season of Total Drama Tumblr that ran concurrently with Total Drama Colors in its down time. The idea for this season was created and lead by Jack (Seasons 1, 2, and 3). Fuzzy (Seasons 2, 3, and 4) and Diana (Seasons 1, 2, and 3) were also helping as writers, editors, and/or artists. This season features nineteen new contestants and one lucky returning one battling it out in a high school located in the city from season 2 and within the vicinity of the abandoned city in season 4. Sadly, due to a rather spiteful group of anons and a lack of muse, this season was also put on an indefinite hiatus, and is no longer accessible.

The Ridonculous Race: North American Tour: A Ridonculous Race spinoff of TDT running concurrently with Total Drama Colors. This season is led by Sly, Singa (both from seasons 4 and 5) and Rox (From seasons 2, 3, 4, and 5) with Sly as the artist and all three as the writers and editors. This season features sixteen teams of two (thirty new contestants plus two returning contestants from Total Drama City and Total Drama High School respectively) competing in a journey across North America for a million dollar prize. It was abandoned in September 2016.

The Total Drama Tumblr series contains examples of:

    open/close all folders

    Cross-season Tropes
  • Confession Cam: Each Season has one of these, like the series the roleplays are based off of.
    • In Total Drama Tumblr, it was an outhouse, like the one featured in season 1.
    • In Total Drama City, it was a portapotty.
    • In Total Drama Video Game, it was a confessional.
    • In Total Drama Colors, it was also a portapotty- however, this portapotty has already been damaged beyond repair by the time the 5th episode had rolled around.
    • In total Drama High School, it was a faculty bathroom somewhere in the facility.
    • In The Ridonculous Race: North American Tour, they opt to use an interview room instead.
  • Game Show Host:
    • The ever so memorable Chris McLean for Tumblr through High School.
    • Don for The Ridonculous Race: North American Tour.

    Total Drama Tumblr
  • Accidental Kiss: Rosie and Jack early in the competition. Rosie ends up helping get Jack and Monica together due to this.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: This ends up working for Dylan, due to the reason why Dylan is the way he is all ties back to his teacher not returning his feelings.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Subverted, as most have canonical races. Paige was raised somewhere in the Amazon, Monica is Latina, and Dylan is biracial for example.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Jack when you target his friends or betray him.
    • Kaitlyn regarding Evan.
    • Dylan if you resort to physical bullying or threats.
  • Big Bad: The true Big Bad is debatable. Depending on how you look at it, it could be Middy, due to being the biggest drama starter in the game. Pepper, for starting the last dramatic conflict in the season. Or Jack for being the villain to make it the furthest, canonically second place.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Several villains ended up teaming up at times. This includes Middy and Pepper; Pepper and Dylan; Rosie, Dylan, and Jack. Middy and Dylan also planned on teaming up once but that fell through when Middy was eliminated.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Someone won and the season is over, but every contestant is badly beaten up by the last challenge and had to be hospitalized. On top of that, they are forced to live in the city where season 2 takes place until season 2 ends.
  • Casanova Wannabe:
    • Fitz has flirted with most of the girls, and some of the guys, on the island. The only ones who responded positively were Rosie and Dylan. Nothing comes from that, though.
    • Dylan had markings of this in early episodes before focus changed to his analytical nature.
  • Cerebus Syndrome: Although it already had markings of this with Rosie's backstory and Black Jack, once the merge rolled around and Middy and Pepper returned, the season got comparatively darker.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: As the first season, the episodes had smaller, quicker episodes released in a faster pace. Roleplays were also a bit different in design as they mostly had no rules.
  • Everyone Is Single: Subverted. Hollie had a girlfriend before joining the season while Will had a girlfriend who ended up competing in the second season.
  • Face–Heel Turn:
    • Dylan is pretty loyal to his team during the pre-merge, but this changes completely during the merge.
    • As Black Jack, Jack is much more dangerous and antagonistic than usual.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Kaori doesn't talk much outside of confessionals and when it is, it's overlooked. That's because her roleplayer has confirmed that Kaori is mute and uses text to communicate.
    • Claire mentions that she isn't the closest to her family, which is definitely true in a darker take.
    • Dylan often flicks with a lighter but doesn't smoke. It's the same lighter that he used to burn down his teacher's house.
  • Hartman Hips: Monica and Hollie due to being physically drawn similar to Anne Maria and Beth.
  • Love Dodecahedron: Monica, Rosie, and Lightning all crushing on Pepper, though Monica also had a relationship with Jack. Also possible crush from Kelsey from S2 on Pepper, though this was developed less.
  • Love Triangle: Rosie who likes Jack who likes Monica.
  • Older Than They Look: Hollie and Will, as they're the only contestants who are in their twenties (Will being 22 and Hollie being 26).
  • Only Known by Their Nickname:
    • Lightning's true name is Lydia.
    • Middy's true name is Nicolette.
    • Lev's true name is Maleficent.
  • Running Gag:
    • Claire naming animals and inanimate objects and leaving them in the confessional.
    • Everyone's ire of Ethan.
    • Dylan and curtsying.
  • Younger Than They Look: Kaitlyn and Middy all look the same age as the rest of the cast, but they're really 13.

    Total Drama City
  • Ambiguous Gender Identity: It is never confirmed whether they are a crossdresser, transgender, or non-binary, but Jamie. Evidence seems to lean more towards non-binary.
  • Art Evolution: The art has been massively improved since season 1. In fact, all of the season 1 characters were redrawn in the new style!
  • Back for the Finale: Like the previous season, the entire cast.
  • Berserk Button:
    • When Adelia is carving you up, don't apologize for yourself.
    • Don't go against any of Ringo's friends.
    • Later in the competition, Ariale picks up this Berserk Button too.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Derek, Kelsey, Ringo, Rodney, and Roxanne may be sweet but all have moments where they put on their game faces.
  • Big Bad: Adelia ends up being the Big Bad of the entire season to frightening levels.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Someone wins, but the gang ultimately have to split ways and go home. Seeing how a lot of the cast are friends, this ends up being hard.
  • Brainless Beauty: Amethyst and Ringo have been called hot by other contestants but aren't the smartest crayons in the box. In Amethyst's case, this might be Obfuscating Stupidity.
  • Cerebus Syndrome: Like the previous season, everything heats up when the merge hits thanks to Adelia angelizing Jodie and Rodney, which drastically breaks them.
  • Darker and Edgier: Compared to the last season, by spades. Several interns were killed, several contestants were attempted to be killed, and several of the backstories went by things that were extremely darker in topic such as parental abandonment, abusive relationships, and attempted suicide.
  • Depending on the Writer: As this was the first season to have three different writers, the writing style definitely varied. Will-mun's episodes were shorter and mostly challenge-heavy, as well as less interaction heavy than the others. Jack-mun's episodes were the longest and focused more on character interaction. Diana's episodes were in the middle of both other writer's styles.
  • Dumb Is Good: Ringo is considered one of the least smart contestants, but definitely one of the nicest and friendliest.
  • Enemy Mine: Most of the eliminated contestants teamed up to try and save each other from Adelia when she was eliminated.
  • Everyone Is Single:
    • Averted. Ariale is dating Will, a contestant from the first season.
    • Jodie also mentions having a boyfriend back home once or twice.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Roxanne is sometimes heard talking to an invisible person. Come to find out, this is a repression of her previous abusive relationship.
    • Jack mentions to Dylan when they talk about the new contestants that he's met Adelia before and that she is more than meets the eye.
    • Claire mentions a cousin named Jodie several times in the previous season.
    • Ringo and Ariale both often try to dodge the bullets about their families multiple times.
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: Averted. There are 11 guys and 13 girls competing. However, depending on how you view Jamie, it is still either 11 guys and 13 girls, 12 guys and 12 girls, or 11 guys, 12 girls and one non-binary contestant.
  • Love Dodecahedron: Kelsey liked Derek who was in a Love Triangle with Alexander towards Eleanor who couldn't choose between Alexander and Derek.
  • Love Triangle: Outside of the Love Triangle within the Love Dodecahedron, there are a couple of other Love Triangles this season:
    • Kelsey liked Rodney who liked Ringo. Kelsey ultimately ends up getting over Rodney and developing feelings for Derek.
    • Both Caroline and Sofia have feelings for Bastien.
    • Subverted, as Malina saw Adelia as competition for Sonny, but Sonny and Adelia's relationship is strictly like brother and sister.
  • Manly Tears: Ringo often breaks out into tears when he hears something sad.
  • Nobody Can Die: Averted, as several interns are killed in this season.
  • Official Couple: The official couples of this season are Bastien/Caroline, Derek/Kelsey, Rodney/Ringo, and Malina/Sonny. Alexander/Eleanor and Roxanne/Somber also may or may not be canon.
  • Out of Focus: The only season 1 contestants that show up in roleplays this season are Ethan, Eddie, Lev, Kaori, Jack, Monica, Pepper, Lightning, Dylan, Rosie, Claire, and Fitz. On top of that, the only ones to interact with season 2 contestants are Pepper (with Adelia, Eleanor, and Derek), Jack (albeit before the season with Adelia), Dylan (with Sonny), Ethan (with Adelia), and Claire (with her cousin, Jodie). The other nine season 1 contestants are out of focus.
  • Psycho for Hire: Alexander, due to being a mafia member.
  • The Quiet One: Jamie, although she's more shy than quiet.
  • Verbal Tic:
    • Ringo adds a lot of "Ayyy" to the beginning of his sentences and "Yo" to the end of his sentences.
    • Roxanne uses southern lingo and uses y'all often.

    Total Drama Video Game
  • Art Evolution: Once again, the art has improved by leaps and bounds.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Don't act high and mighty around Cassius or Clyde.
    • Don't bring up X around Gabe.
    • Don't disrespect food or family around Jinta.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: While there is no particular Big Bad due to this season's cancellation, Delilah, Gabe, and Jinta act as the villains of the first four episodes.

    Total Drama Colors
  • Action Girl: Almost every female competing this season falls under this trope:
    • Kiki is a 4'11" powerhouse that doesn't take crap from anyone.
    • Mallory turned a flame thrower into a bomb that completely destroyed the Panda's building in Red Alert
    • Arizona managed to steer a sled down a mountain while blind.
    • Bailey is a dare devil and could have broken a bone while jumping off the bus in White Elephant.
    • Jillian, despite not appearing it, managed to punch a hole in the confessional wall and was one of the first to volunteer to use the flamethrower in Red Alert.
    • The Baroness is a freaking pirate, that's all that needs to be said about her.
    • Selene has been raised by wolves and survived practically on her own until she was reintroduced into civilization.
  • Art Shift: Due to having a new artist, Alli, the art looks distinctively different from seasons 1-3.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Don't betray your team if The Baroness is around.
    • Don't eliminate someone innocent around Ry.
    • Don't be Dennis if you pull a prank on Lavender or The Baroness.
    • Ashley seems very touchy about her locket.
    • Gaile has a problem with being called Abigale.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: Alice, Lavender, and Ashley are essentially the big bad trio for this season.
  • Depending on the Writer: Completely averted; all the writers this season are co-working together to make sure all the episodes fit in with each other.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Ry, in response to his full name Henry. Do not call him Henrietta, Hen, or Rye either.
  • Former Teen Rebel: Inverted with Mika, her label is "The Rebellious Phase" for a reason!
  • Handicapped Badass:
    • Despite being blind, Arizona successfully managed to steer her teams Sled during White Elephant and scored her team the win.
    • Ry also applies, despite being blind in one eye he managed to curb stomp Ashley's foot and give her a limp.
  • The Hermit: Implied with Selene before she's reintroduced into civilization.
  • A House Divided: Invoked with The Plaid Pandas: Either you're with Lavender, Dennis, or neither.
  • Kick the Dog: Invoked with Jill: Not only did Ashley knock her unconscious with a bucket, but she framed Todd, the guy she started to like, for elimination in order to prove a point.
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: Invoked with Ry of all people, who has longer hair and appears rather feminine at times.
  • Ms Fan Service: Lavender tries to be a canon example, but the lack of males, especially heterosexual ones, ruins this for her.
  • Spell My Name with a "The": Somewhat invoked with The Baroness, absolutely invoked with 'The Amazing Alexandria!'.
  • Strange Girl: Invoked with several female contestants.
    • Selene was raised by wolves and then reintroduced into civilization.
    • The Baroness thinks she's a Pirate, going so far as to speak, dress, and act like one.
    • Mallory is a little obsessed with bombs.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Subverted in White Elephant, where a smoke bomb was used on the Parrots' sled rather than an actual bomb.

    Total Drama High School
  • Art Shift: Diana is the new artist for this season with Jack doing coloring and lineart. As such, they look different from any of the previous seasons.
  • Bag of Holding:
    • Khadija's hijab holds a lot of stuff. So far it has held books to read (a Harry Potter Book), a first aid kit, and her mun has confirmed there's a couple of textbooks under there as well.
    • Starr seems to be able to store a handful of things in her 'fro.
  • Cluster Bleep-Bomb: Starr has one of these in her confessional right after she is crushed by Calliope because of Cain's attempt to sabotage her house's performance.
  • Continuity Nod: According to the creators, the season takes place within season 2 (and season 3's) City and nearby season 4's abandoned city.
  • Coordinated Clothes: Played with; Addison's plan is to mimic her fellow contestants on literally everything they do in an attempt to get them to quit the competition.
  • Depending on the Writer:
    • Averted. Unless things change, Jack will be the only admin to write episodes.
    • Especially averted since as Fuzzy, the other writer this season, style matches' Jacks.
  • Downer Ending: Vance's elimination is a huge one; his prized banjo was destroyed, he was lied to of who did it, let who actually done it off the hook, and when things are looking up for his team wining, he forfeits the match after finding out he was being lied to. This, in turn, causes his elimination, where he has to go down a dark, cramped hole. It doesn't help that as of this writing, he's unsure of if he's going to be able to save his grandmother's farm.
  • Easily Forgiven: Starr acts like this to the other contestants. She doesn't actually believe this, but it's part of her happy-go-lucky kinda act.
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: This season is an interesting take on this. There are eight males, eight females, and four non-binary contestants competing.
  • Grand Finale:
    • It's been confirmed by the creators that this season will be closed out by a graduation/epilogue special.
    • It has also been hinted that the final non-special episode will be based on final exams.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity:
    • Roo seems a lot smarter than he puts on.
    • Starr also pretends to pay little attention to the little details about the contestant.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. Katie is the name of a canon contestant.
  • The Rival: Riley sees herself as Jasten's rival, as he's one of the few contestants she sees potential in.

    RR: North American Tour
  • Action Girl: GG, Ulyssa, Candi, and Starr all qualify as this
  • Alpha Bitch: Subverted with Starr, who, after her attitude last season, apparently had a Heel–Face Turn between this competition and Total Drama High School.
  • Art Shift: Sly is the new artist for this season, and as such, the characters have a slightly different style than they did in comparison to Tumblr, City/VG, Colors, or High School.
  • Attention Whore: Played with in regards to Rosamie; she likes the attention but cares more for her fans.
  • Bears Are Bad News: So much so that it's a running gag of the season. Especially in Episode 2, where numerous contestants are attacked by, quote and quote, "poorly placed bears."
  • Berserk Button:
    • Ulyssa's not afraid to beat the crap out of you (mostly Dylan) if you degrade women.
    • Don't use feminism as an excuse for bigotry around surprisingly enough, Don.
    • The Superheroes will go after you if they catch you injuring another contestant on purpose.
  • Call-Back: Tons of them.
    • Cleo getting hit by a car while delivering pizza in Total Drama City.
    • Starr dancing up the stairs in the first Total Drama High School Episode with Calliope.
    • Most Total Drama High School Contestants, including Wallace, Addison, Phoenix, Calliope, and Quinn
  • Continuity Nod: Don complains about people trying to cut in line every season in response to [[spoilers: Candi and Alan attempting to cut]], referencing when the Ice Dancers tried to do it in The Ridonculous Race. Oddly enough, they both occurred in episode 3, with the second place teams trying to cut in front of the first place teams.
  • Epic Fail: Candi trying to sabotage Babe in Episode 2's challenge... only to propel her further and give their team the win.
  • Expy: Mr. Bellerose, to a teacher his mun had in real life.
  • Fiery Redhead: Averted with Kennedy, who's generally as calm as a wave less ocean.
  • Genius Ditz:
    • Hoss and Babe, who can fix up a car, but aren't the brightest bulbs in the bunch.
    • Cleo is highly intelligent, but often goes on about memes rather than use her head.
  • Gilligan Cut: Used so many times. Notable examples include:
    • Don talking about how he didn't realize The Twin Idols were actually idols. Cut to them talking about their fame.
    • Candi and Alan assuming Erin and Irene were a couple. Cut to the Stylists laughing in the interview room about how people always assume that, despite both of them being hella gay.
    • Pembroke and Lyndon patiently waiting on their flight to Denver. Cut to Pembroke complaining that they just left Denver.
  • The Hat Makes the Man:
    • Dylan and his 'wonderful' Fedora.
    • Alan and his really unusual looking hat apply as well.
    • Nolan practically hates being seen without head wear, but unlike the other two, Nolan has a reason.
    • Kennedy is a nonbinary example; they're never seen without their hat!
  • Immoral Reality Show: In the second episode alone, Don practically destroys a mountain after booby trapping it.
  • In-Series Nickname:
    • Encore calls Masquerade 'Masky'.
    • Muff calls GG "G" a lot and GG calls Muff "Muffy" a lot.
  • Jerkass:
    • Midori, who pushes her teammate against her will to do things she is clearly troubled with doing.
    • Candi, who sabotages other contestants to get her team further into the competition.
    • Dylan, who acts like an entitled brat who expects his teammate to do all the work and generally annoys other contestants with his creepy behavior.
    • Ulyssa, who also acts like an entitled brat, but uses her teammate as a punching bag, despises every single male contestant, and called Encore something so shocking that the camera had to focus on a background event to forget hearing.
    • Muff, who abandoned their teammate for the sake of pulling pranks on the other contestants.
  • Laser-Guided Karma:
    • Anything Dylan does often results in him getting injured by someone for his actions. For example, in Episode 2, getting flung down the mountain after constantly getting Eli's gender wrong and attempting to flirt with them.
    • Muff being forced to solve the puzzle in episode 1 all by themself after they abandoned their teammate for the sake of pulling some pranks.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • Starr's name lives up to its potential, given she wants to shine as bright as a star.
    • Candi's name fits her well given that she puts on a sickeningly sweet persona to mask the darker intentions she has.
    • Masquerade's name fits given that, well, he wears a mask.
    • Encore's name represents the fact she wants to live in the limelight with her diva-esque personality.
  • No OSHA Compliance: Episode 2's skiing challenge, which features the practical destruction of The Muleshoe slope by landmines.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Often the first place winners who, most of the time, end up loosing their lead thanks to happenstance that occurs throughout the challenge.
  • Running Gag:
    • Dylan often getting punished for flirting with Eli.
    • Starr threatening to shove her gogo boot places where the sun don't shine.
    • The Camera having to cut away from Candi and Alan making out.
    • Ulyssa saying "Um, No." Before she goes into rant mode.
    • Helen mysteriously getting sandwiches.
    • Rosamie, likewise, mysteriously getting skittles.
    • Gary insisting to be called "Mr. Bellerose" when announced by anyone but his daughter.
  • Take a Third Option:
    • Mia and Midori in episode 1, [[spoilers: steal some kids' bikes to race off to the challenge location rather than run or take a taxi]].
    • The Superheroes use their parkour skills to get to the challenge location in the aforementioned episode.

    Total Drama Tumblr Contestants

Claire, the Edgy Sweetheart

  • Action Girl: Claire's physical prowess has made her the winner of several challenges.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: With Dylan early on. Although, it came through more as Claire teasing and Dylan not knowing how to react.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: She might be easygoing and a bit silly, but she has a sizable temper.
  • Break the Cutie: Later in the competition, Claire gets injured and takes it hard.
  • Hidden Depths: She's extremely into music.
  • Hollywood Psych: Occasionally it's mentioned that Claire has to take medicine for a disorder, but it was not revealed.
  • Large Ham: Her confessionals are wildly outlandish.
  • Motor Mouth: A lot of Claire's genki-ness comes from her fast talking style, but when serious conversations come up she is actually a pretty great listener.
  • Odd Friendship: Although they're on different ends of the social spectrum, Claire and Monica are close friends.
  • Official Couple: With Dylan after a fair amount of Will They or Won't They?.
  • Running Gag: The many animals, and the cactus Mr. Freddy, she leaves in the confessional.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Claire dwarfs Dylan by quite a few inches.

Cliff, the TV Star

  • Brainless Beauty: Cliff is extremely attractive, but he's not the brightest bulb in the box.
  • Butt-Monkey: Similar to Justin, he'll occasionally get into accidents that harms his looks.
  • Flat Character: He was created solely to be an early boot.
  • Jerkass: He isn't afraid to ruffle some feathers in the least.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Cliff is considered the most attractive out of this season's guys.

Dylan, the Smiling Snarker

  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: He attempted to play Pepper and Jack like this by being in both their alliances and trying to turn them against each other.
  • Character Development: While he's still a psycho-analyzing snarker by the end, he finally has people he can consider friends and reasons to move on with his life.
  • Deadpan Snarker: So much that it's in his stereotype!
  • Face–Heel Turn: Pre-merge, he's a little sketchy and likes doing things to test his teammates, but is relatively good-natured. Come the merge, it turns out he's mostly out for himself and will do whatever needed to win.
  • Foreshadowing: Dylan often is seen flicking a lighter. Come to find out, this is the same lighter he used to burn down his teacher's house.
  • The Gadfly: Often does odd things to get a rise out of people.
  • Running Gag: Dylan is known to cursty when he thanks people.
  • Ship Tease: Early episodes had Dylan and Fitz be extremely close, as well as Fitz taking his first kiss (simultaneously with Claire). However, when Fitz was eliminated, Dylan and Claire's romantic plot-thread continued on.
  • The Smart Guy: Probably the most conventionally smart member on his team.
  • The Stoic: Mostly has a plastered on smile and speaks close to monotone.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: He is several inches shorter than Claire.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Post-season, Dylan is a lot nicer than he was, openly befriending Jack, Monica, Middy, and Sonny.

Eddie, the Troubled Sweet Guy

  • Butt-Monkey: A few times in his short stay, Eddie would often get the bad end of the stick.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Eddie is considered one of the more attractive members of TDT.

Ethan, the Evil with a Smile

  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: With Kaori early on. Disappeared sometime during the time they dated and before they broke up.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: In early episodes, Ethan was a manipulative, rude leader. However, as time went on, he began to become Denser and Wackier, changing him into more of comedy relief than an actual villain. The only time it ended up differently was when he set Fitz on fire.
  • Break the Haughty: In a weird way, as he's still extremely haughty but extremely strange as of late.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Not at first, but as time goes on, Ethan continues to get stranger and stranger to the point that he's fullblown this during City.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Part of his ruse early on was to pretend to be sweet and then crush his opponents.
  • Running Gag: By the end of the second season, Ethan has successfully annoyed a majority of the first two season's casts. However, by the second season, it becomes less funny and more sympathetic.

Fitz, the Funny Punk

  • Broken Bird: Fitz never had the best home life, which ultimately led to him becoming sarcastic, rude, and untrusting of others.
  • Intended Audience Reaction: Inverted. Fitz's mun literally created him to be unattractive, and he's become one of the most liked characters on the show.
  • Smoking Is Cool: One of Fitz's most noticeable traits in R Ps, and a bit of plot starter in them, was the fact he smuggled cigarettes onto the island and smoked them. He quit smoking after Ethan set him on fire so many times the poor punk developed a phobia of it.

    Total Drama Colors Contestants

Alexandria, The No-Skill Show-Off

A girl who, despite lacking the skills, is a magician. The Amazing Alexandria is sure her talents will dazzle the crowds and let her win the competition.

  • Attention Whore: She wants people to notice her for her magic and wants to be famous, even if her methods get her eliminated.
  • Flat Character: Due to only being in one episode, her entire character can be described as dense.
  • Idiot Ball: She eliminates herself during the first episode. Not that it matters, as her whole team voted her out as well.
  • Sore Loser: She thinks that she's the winner because she got to the bottom of the mountain in White Elephant first and doesn't take well to be told she lost because of her actions.

Alice, The Musical Manipulator

With a passion for music, Alice is the queen of manipulation. Will her talents come into good use while on Total Drama Colors?

Ashley, The Mean Girl

The definition of a Chessmaster, Ashley is willing to hurt, cheat, and lie her way up through the competition.

  • Alpha Bitch: She's labeled "The Mean Girl" for a reason.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Ry and The Baroness since episode 1.
  • I'm Not Here to Make Friends: She's not here to make friends, yet has to pretend to be people's friends in order to advance through the competition

Dennis, The Black Cupid

The Black Cupid himself, Dennis is sure to cause some chaos on Total Drama Colors.

  • Above Good and Evil: Dennis really doesn't care about the alignment of who he pranks, just as long as he can cause some chaos.
  • The Sociopath: Doesn't care about other people, just the chaos he causes.

Derby, The Energetic Writer

Hyper as can be, Derby is looking forward to meeting some new people to write wonderful stories.

  • Nerd Glasses: Only contestant this season that wears glasses to be exact!
  • The Smart Guy: Definitely has the largest vocabulary of any of the contestants this season.

Gaile, The 90's Kid

Obsessed with the 90's, Gaile is out to make some of the raddest friends a gal can have, and possibly add to her memorabilia collection.

  • Genki Girl: She's always energetic and willing to lend a hand.

Lavender, The Heartbreaker

A heart breaker for the fun of it, Lavender is willing to break hearts to get her chance at fame and fortune.

  • Ditzy Genius: Crosses into this category. She's smart enough to formulate a plan and get dirt on the other contestants, but can't seem to pick up on Ry being gay and thinks that an 'addlepate' is french for 'pretty girl'.
  • Manipulative Bastard: She makes guys fall in love with her then she breaks their hearts.

Mallory, The Demolitionist

Fun loving and loco, Mallory is here expecting the competition to be the bomb!

Ry, The Quiet Weirdo

Despite being quiet on the outside, dark things lurk in Ry's mind. Let's hope you don't unleash them and just let him win the paint.

  • Eye Scream: He's blind in one eye due to an abusive father.
  • Odd Friendship: Can describe literally any of Ry's friendships. To name just a few, The Baroness is a pirate and Gaile is the happy-go-lucky type.

The Baroness, The Pirate Wannabe

Her heart laying at the sea, The Baroness is a natural born leader who, despite thinking she's a pirate, is eager to play fair and blast the competition out of the water.

  • Odd Friendship: The Baroness is a pirate. Ry is an emo kid. Their friendship is united by a hatred of Ashley.
  • Pirate Girl: Somewhat inverted. She knows she's a badass yet is still a pirate girl.

Todd, The Wannabe Cool Guy

Wanting to be seen as cool, Todd is the kind of guy who spends an entire evening on tumblr. Hopefully he gets the recognition he wants when he wins the million.

  • Geek: So much show he canonically makes several tumblr jokes that actually work.

    Total Drama High School Contestants

Starr, The Disco Diva

  • Verbal Tic: She tends to add Babe, Honey, Sugar, Hon, and Baby to most of her sentences.

The Ridonculous Race: North American Tour

Dylan and Ulyssa, The Internet Junkies

  • The Bully: Fully invoked with Ulyssa, who bullies everyone around her that dares to disagree with her, although Dylan is shown to not be much better than her in regards to this.
  • Catchphrase: Ulyssa has one in the form of "Um, no," When she prepares to rant about how wrong she thinks something is.
  • The Load: Dylan is heavily considered to be this, as he tends to get exhausted easily and fails to participate in challenges unless forced.

Erin and Irene, The Stylists

  • Idiot Ball: Instead of doing the challenge, they go and explore Baltimore in leg 4, visiting an art gallery, a cafe, and even a spa before attempting to complete the challenge. Then, in leg 5, they promptly stop racing to gush over a portrait of a poodle dressed up like Queen Elizabeth that's, for some reason, hanging in the airport.
  • Kick the Dog: Erin, big time. He's mauled by a bear in leg 2, has a statue fall and crush him in leg 3, and is nearly eliminated with Irene in leg 4; it's a wonder that he's still alive at this point.
  • Oh, Crap!: Their reaction to realizing that their were only two other teams left racing in leg 4 and they still had a long time to go with their penalty. [[spoiler: And then Cleo and Jason show up, taking that number down to one.]
  • Read the Freaking Manual: In leg 4, they take a Taxicab to the Chill Zone despite being told on the travel tip that they were not allowed to. They were promptly penalized the time they saved by taking the Taxi. They were almost eliminated that very round for their mistake, only being spared by Midori's attempt at sabotaging Helen and Frank much earlier in the leg.

Eva and Korā, The Kiwis

Gary and Starr, Father and Daughter

  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: Downplayed with Starr; she's shown to sometimes be a bit bratty, but overall is rather down-to-earth ever since her appearance on Total Drama High School.
  • Grumpy Old Man: Subverted with Gary; he appears to be a really grumpy old man due to having a constantly dull expression, a monotone voice, and keeping anything he says, when he does talk, short and to the point, but he's shown to be nice and a genuinely loving dad to Starr.
  • Young and in Charge: Played with with Starr; she's definitely more domineering and tends to take a leadership role in her team, but her father isn't afraid to put his foot down when he needs to.

GG and Muff, The Pranksters

  • Ambiguously Brown: Sort of. In the show itself, it's not confirmed what race GG is. But their player states that GG is of mixed race, with both Egyptian and Indian heritage.
  • Body Horror: Very minor, but Muff is referenced time and time again to have incredibly messed-up teeth. Supposedly a good number are chipped, cracked, crooked, yellowed, or missing, and they seem to have a habit of sticking small and possibly sharp metal objects in their mouth and gums.
  • Delinquent Hair: Muff has hair dyed with bright green highlights. They also regularly get into possibly illegal trouble. Let's put two and two together...
  • Friends with Benefits: They were like this in the past, although it seems like GG isn't really as into the idea anymore as Muff is.
  • Jerkass: In their first appearance, Muff and GG were quite literally taking candy from a baby. Later on, Muff not only abandoned their partner to cruelly prank people, but in the very next episode they attempted to light Ulyssa's hair on fire.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Muff and GG both adore horror movies on a little more than a fanatical level. One way to get Muff's grin even wider than it usually is is to fit body horror somewhere in something, and GG just can't help but love the blood-and-guts and torture porn of the slasher genre.
  • The Prankster: Both GG and Muff qualify for this trope (Muff possibly more than GG), so much that it's their title.
  • Sadist: Muff takes immense pleasure in seeing people's pain. GG too, but very much less so.
  • Sir Swearsalot: They both curse in almost every other sentence they say, Muff moreso than GG.
  • Talkative Loon: Muff talks a lot more than GG does, sometimes to the point where GG needs to ask Muff what they just said.
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: In-Universe. Muff, while agender, makes no attempt to look less feminine then they naturally are. This has caused some slight problems for them in the past (before the show) with people assuming their gender. Same goes for GG, who's a demigirl but doesn't make too much of an attempt to physically look any different (thus causing some before-show to believe her to be male). Neither of them seem to outwardly care too much about the gender people take them for.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Both Muff and GG have deeper voices than one would expect, although the case is a bit worse for GG.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?:
    • Elevators for Muff. They have a full-blown panic attack on the ski lift in Denver and mention being around Rosamie and Ronnel's fans makes them feel boxed in.
    • Bugs for GG, to the point she drops everything to get away from them.

Ronnel and Rosamie, The Twin Idols

A twin brother and sister Idol Duo from the Philippines, Ronnel and Rosamie had an excellent start in Leg 1, finishing the puzzle challenge 3rd and finding themselves in 5th place. However, after a truly bad run in Denver (and Candi's attempt at sabotaging them), they found themselves nearly eliminated on that very leg, only saved by their taxi being closer than the Scene Queens to the Chill Zone. They would soon make a quick recovery, finishing 4th on Leg 3, and even 3rd on Leg 4. However, after being assaulted by fans in Anchorage, they fell to in fighting and were ultimately unable to find the Chill Zone, eliminating them in 14th.

Babe and Hoss, The Greasers

A brother and Sister Greaser Duo from Oklahoma, Babe and Hoss started off strong; although they only had an 11th place finish in Vancouver, they were the 1st team to finish in Denver, even after having a snowball fight. They also had a very strong lead during Leg 3, being among the first teams to finish assembling their Mothman Statues. However, that's when tragedy struck, as they found themselves eliminated that leg through no fault of their own, after Alan and Candi push a statue onto them, and then, in the footrace for the final two, Ulyssa pushes Hoss down onto the ground and causes Babe to trip, sealing their elimination at 15th.
  • Game-Breaking Injury: Hoss suffers from one after Alan and Candi push a statue onto him during Leg 3.

Lexi and Natalia, The Scene Queens

A dating Scene Queen Couple from British Columbia, Lexi and Natalia's time on the race was short lived. Although, at first, they seemed to be having an easy time with the painting challenge in Vancouver, they ultimately found themselves finishing it last and in thirteenth place, only to drop down to fourteenth after Ulyssa and Dylan manage to pass them up on the way to the airport. They then got distracted in Denver, finding themselves on the last bus to the ski resort, Ronnel stealing their seat on the ski lift, and are ultimately eliminated at sixteenth that leg due to Lexi crashing on the slopes and loosing the final foot race to The Twin Idols.
  • Born Unlucky: The were eliminated on the very first leg of the race due to, of all things, loosing a foot race.
  • Riding into the Sunset: Their last shot after being eliminated in Leg 1 features them walking, hand in hand, into the Denver Sunset.

YMMV

  • Awesome Ego: The Amazing Alexandria definitely classifies as this. Despite being an intentional joke character that was eliminated in the very first episode of Total Drama Colors, the fans love her.
    • Starr also qualifies; not only is she enjoyed among the fans, but has appeared in both TDHS and RR:NAT with what seem to be major roles.
  • Anti-Climax:
    • Season 2's Finale has been seen as this, if only because the girlfriend of Will-mun won TDC, while Will himself won TDT.
  • Broken Base: Oooooh boy, there's a ton of it. Due to the context of the series, names will not be given on this subject as most of it relies on character hate. However, special mention goes to:
    • Season 1: Was it a genuinely fun time for all the parties involved, or was it just an experiment that, not only aged poorly, but has a drastic drop in quality from the other four seasons?
    • The Cancellations of season 3 and 5: some consider them rightly justified to the stress those seasons placed on the writers, and others feel that the writers just lost interest during those seasons and shouldn't have written them in the first place. And then there's a vocal, rude minority that especially have something against Season 5.
    • Some people feel that Season 4 has taken far too long to get out, while others feel that the writers should keep taking their time to avoid an overbearing work load.
    • The Confessional. Dear god, the confessional. Some people feel it's a great way to talk about your characters and react to the episodes of Total Drama Tumblr without clogging up the main pages. A vast majority, however, hate that it turned into nothing but a breeding ground for Drama where people talked trash about characters and even the muns of characters on anonymous. In fact, it god so bad it has resulted in actual Panic Attacks in several muns.
  • Crack Pairing: Oh boy, there are a ton of them throughout the five seasons.
    • One particular pairing, Jinta from season 3 and Adelia from season 2, has recently became canon in a regard.
  • Creepy Awesome: Adelia from season 2 and Ry from season 4.
  • Creepy Cute: Jasten from Season 5, Eli from Season 6
  • Designated Villain: Ry (In Universe).
    • Starr and Midori (at least in their feud.))
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • FET is one of the more popular characters from season 1 due to having a completely unfair elimination and mutation that resulted in a lot of fan sympathy.
    • Malina
    • Clyde
    • Gabe
    • The Amazing Alexandria is an incredibly hilarious one off joke character from season 4 that, despite the intended reaction being that she was a joke character who was eliminated so that none of the others could have been voted off that episode, is incredibly loved by the fans.
    • Todd is the meme king himself and is adored by pretty much everyone, especially after getting some great character interaction with Jillian and being eliminated in Episode 2 of his respective season.
    • Recently, Mika had a surge of popularity due to her kiss with Mallory and the fact she's one of the few that have found out Alice's true malice.
    • Riley due to being a total bad ass with genuinely hilarious quips and having a soft side you might not have expected from her.
    • Erin from Season 6, due to almost every line that comes out of his mouth being pure gold.
    • Lexi and Natalia from North American Tour, despite being the first team eliminated and only making it two episodes, they're considered one of the funniest teams in the race.
  • Evil Is Cool
    • Malina
    • Delilah
    • Ashley
    • Alice
    • Lavender
    • Starr
    • Cain
    • Addison
    • Midori
  • First Installment Wins: Averted; City and Colors, Seasons 2 and 4 respectively, receive much more acclaim than Season 1.
  • Launcher of a Thousand Ships: Quite a few of the contestants, but special mention goes to Ry.
  • Love to Hate: All the antagonists, but special mention goes to Delilah from season 3, Ashley from season 4, and The Internet Junkies from Season 6.
  • Magnificent Bastard:
    • The Two Peas in a Pod Duo, who manage to get away with pushing the Mothman Statue onto Hoss and Erin without anyone suspecting them.
    • Midori
  • Memetic Mutation: Not in universe wise, but the muns behind the series have created some...interesting memes to say the least.
    • I mus sav me nip nop.
    • Mango Porn.
    • GOD DAMN IT MYLES PUT AWAY YOUR NIP NOPS!
    • Literally any word with the letters "ry" in it, in context to Ry himself.
    • Attack on Eddie.
    • Oh My Pepe!
  • Moe
    • Hollie in season 1
    • Felix in Season 2
    • Tanya, Yami, and Oliver in season 3
    • Dakota, T, Jillian, and Derby in Season 4
    • Jasten, Rosemary, Phoenix, Calliope, and Quinn in Season 5
    • Ronnel, Rosamie, and Cleo in Season 6
  • Never Live It Down
    • Ry and Dakota's Pocky Kiss.
    • Gaile and Dakota betraying Ashley.
    • With Ronnel, the Bear Incident in San Francisco ((It's never fully explained, although it's hinted at that it's not the cause of his actual phobia of Bears))
  • One-Scene Wonder
    • The Amazing Alexandria, despite only being in the first episode of Season 4, is highly regarded as a fan favorite due to her hilarious interactions with the majority of the contestants.
      • In fact, she was so popular she got a cameo in season 5.
  • Shocking Elimination
    • Matt, in Total Drama Colors.
    • Katie, in Total Drama High School.
    • Babe and Hoss in North American Tour, as they had just won a first place victory in the previous challenge. They were eliminated, not because the challenge gave them trouble, but because Alan, Candi, and Ulyssa all threw them under the bus with the former dropping a statue on them and the latter pushing an injured Hoss into Babe in their race for last place.
    • After Erin and Irene's somewhat bad luck over the course of two legs, Ronnel and Rosamie's elimination was a huge shock, especially when their elimination was caused by in-fighting rather than doing badly on the challenge.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Due to the nature of the rps, especially if a character's mun is inactive, a lot of the time this is sadly the case.
    • FET in season 1 is by far the worst offender; she was eliminated by the fans despite having actually been active during the challenge and being one of the more well characterized characters. It doesn't help that she never got a chance to have come back, and instead under went a transformation.
    • Amethyst from season 2 is regarded as this; she definitely had the potential to be a major antagonistic force yet didn't even make it past episode 2 of her respective season.
    • In similar light to Amethyst, Buzz also applies. he only made it to episode 3.
    • Malina. Malina was eliminated from her team only because she was openly antagonistic to her team, who consisted of mostly lawful or good orientated characters. What makes this trope even more insulting to her is that she got eliminated the very episode she was brought back, pissing off a lot of her fans.
    • Due to it's cancellation, literally every character in season 3. Every. Single. One of them except for Katie, who returns in season 5.
    • Todd in season 4, but that possibly was the intended audience reaction.
    • Add in every contestant of Season 5 minus Starr ((Who's competing on North American Tour)), due to the fact it was placed on indefinite hiatus as well.
  • What an Idiot!:
    • Lexi and Natalia in Episode 1 of North American Tour, where they just barely manage a 13th place finish after choosing the less physical 'Portrait' Option of the Either/Or challenge.
      • What You'd Expect: They simply run to the airport and board the flight.
      • What Actually Happens: They hang around and decide to give an interview, allowing Ulyssa and Dylan to steal their spot.
    • Lexi in Episode 2 of North American Tour, Decides to Check her phone while skiing down a mountain. Needless to say, she promptly crashed and her team was eliminated that episode.
    • Candi in Episode 2 of North American Tour, plans on sabotaging Babe in the skiing challenge.
      • What You'd Expect: She repeats what she did earlier and attacks Babe with a rock.
      • What Actually Happens: She throws a lit firework at Babe and, because she's coated in a layer of oil and grease, the firework explodes and, although she catches on fire, she gets boosted ahead towards the bottom of the mountain, nails the landing, gets her team a first place win, and causes Candi to fall over and have to start the challenge all over again.
    • Erin and Irene in Episode 4 of North American Tour, spent most of the episode exploring Baltimore and relaxing rather than trying to make any progress on the challenge until after they get a massage ((granted, they arguably have the easiest time with the challenge, catching their raven mere minutes after beginning the challenge. After they catch it, they had to race on foot towards a location they had no clue existed, let alone where it was despite exploring the city.
      • What You'd Expect: They ask for directions and book it, earning themselves, at the very least, a 9th place victory.
      • What Actually Happens: They ignore the travel tip mentioning they can't use a vehicle to get to the Chill Zone and call for a Taxi, not only causing the thing to crash once at the Carpet of Completion, but dropping down from 9th to nearly being eliminated at 13th, only being saved by Midori's attempt at sabotaging Frank and Helen.
    • Helen in Episode 4 of North American Tour, give their crow away to Ulyssa after she got pepper sprayed by an old lady, then accepting obvious she-devil Midori's crow under the assumption that it was a raven (In which neither Helen or Frank could tell the difference). They're saved by the sheer luck that this was a non-elimination leg.
