To Silas: "Out eternity starts now."

Silas lover, handmaiden of Qetsiyah, and the world's first immortal woman. She's the progenitor of the Petrova Doppelgänger bloodline.

  • All for Nothing: Amara desired immortality and to be an immortal being all out of love and so she could spend an eternity with Silas. Sadly, her immortal life turned out to be nothing but tragedy and suffering. Instead of living an eternal happily ever after with her soulmate as she originally wanted and intended, Amara ended up having her true love Silas believe that she was dead due to Qetsiyah telling Silas that he had killed her. And then Silas ended up entombed in darkness and starved for centuries and centuries. Not only did Qetsiyah fake Amara's death to Silas, but Qetsiyah ended up desiccating and entombing Amara and using her as the physical anchor for the Other Side, a purgatory for supernatural beings who have died to go to once they die. Qetsiyah created this supernatural purgatory as a way for Silas' soul to be trapped with her for all time and separated from Amara shall he take the cure and die a mortal death. As a result of being the anchor to the Other Side, Amara ended up experiencing very single supernatural death for over two millennia, while being trapped in her own body and starving and desiccating. After Amara is finally found by Silas and is reawakened after 2,000 years, Amara becomes mortal again after drinking the cure from Silas' blood. She desires death more than anything else and does everything she can to kill herself due to her suffering. Amara confesses to Silas that she strongly loves him and that she will always love him but that her desire to die and end her suffering is just as strong and powerful as her love for Silas. Amara begs Silas to kill her himself, but Silas struggles with doing so. Silas ends up being killed by his doppelgänger Stefan win he is stabbed with a knife. He then crosses over to the Other Side through Amara. After Silas dies, Qetsiyah ends up transferring the anchor from Amara to Bonnie. Amara, realizing that she has nothing to live for with Silas dead and having suffered for endless centuries, takes her own life after taking the same knife that killed Silas and stabbing herself. Before she had killed herself, Amara had told Silas that their eternity together would start with her death. Sadly for Amara, this did not happen as Silas is trapped on the Other Side as a ghost with Qetsiyah and Amara ended up finding true peace in the afterlife. To make matters worse, Qetsiyah ends up killing herself so that she could be with Silas. This means that Qetsiyah ended up getting her revenge, having Silas and Amara separated from each other for all time. Not only did Amara never get to spend an eternity with her soulmate Silas as an immortal being but she didn't even get to find true eternal peace with Silas in death either and ended up suffering over 2,000 years as the anchor to the OS, all because her sin was falling in love with Silas. Poor Amara.
  • Angelic Beauty: According to Silas. When Silas looks at her, he compares her beauty to that of an angel.
  • And I Must Scream: Amara has been trapped inside of her body for over 2,000 years due to being the physical anchor for The Other Side. It seems as though Amara has suffered a similar tragic fate as her true love Silas.
  • Anguished Declaration of Love: With Silas in 5.07. Amara tells Silas that she has loved him and will always love him but that she couldn't go on living anymore due to suffering as the anchor to The Other Side for over 2,000 years. As a result of her suffering, she tries to get Silas to kill her himself so that her pain and suffering can finally end.
  • Arch-Enemy: Qetsiyah. Considering that Qetsiyah entombed Amara, made her the anchor to the Other Side, made her suffer for over 2,000 years by experiencing every single supernatural death and managing to keep her and Silas apart for all eternity.
  • Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: It has been said that Amara has been on the metaphysical plane for over 2,000+ years, a place where human souls go to after they die. The Other Side, which is a purgatory designed for supernatural beings (such as witches, warlocks, vampires, werewolves, etc) go to aftet they die, was created by Qetsiyah as a way for Silas to not be reunited in death with Amara shall Silas take the cure and die a mortal death. Amara finally dies after stabbing herself. She crosses over to the metaphysical plane. Sadly, Amara ends up alone and separated from her soulmate (Silas) for eternity, as Silas dies and crosses over to The Other Side, separating the "two fates" for eternity like Qetsiyah had wished and planned for over two millennia.
  • Ax-Crazy: In 5.06, Amara is shown to be highly unstable and crazy but this is understandable considering that Qetsiyah used Amara as the anchor for the Other Side because she needed something that was eternal and immortal (meaning Amara). This means that Amara has been trapped inside of her own body for over 2,000 years. That would make anyone go completely insane and crazy.
  • Back from the Dead: It was revealed that Qetsiyah had not killed Amara but instead, desiccated and entombed her and used her as an anchor to bind The Other Side. Amara has awaken and has consumed the cure for immortality, which was in Silas' blood, and she is now a mortal human desiring to die.
  • Barrier Maiden: Amara was the physical anchor to the Other Side.
  • Beauty Equals Goodness: Amara was very beautiful and it could be assumed that she was also a good-hearted and innocent woman.
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Even though Amara was entombed and desisting for over 2,000 years, Amara still looked beautiful regardless.
  • Because Destiny Says So: Amara's relationship with Silas. Although Silas was engaged to be married to Qetsiyah, Silas true love and destiny was with Amara.
  • Betty and Veronica: The love triangle between herself, Silas and Qetsiyah. Amara was the Betty to Qetsiyah's Veronica for Silas' Archie.
  • Bodyguard Crush: Amara was a poor girl who was a handmaiden and she was deeply in love with a higher-status warlock, Silas.
  • Boy Meets Girl: Amara meets Silas and instantly falls in love with him, to the point where she desires to spend eternity with him.
  • Break the Cutie: Oh dear. Poor Amara managed to suffer for 2,000 years by being the physical anchor for The Other Side, therefore experiencing and feeling every single supernatural death for two millennia.
  • Broken Bird: Considering all of the tragedy and suffering that Amara has been through, she definitely qualifies as this.
  • Brought Down to Normal: Qetsiyah first cured her of immortality before killing her. Only according to Qestiyah. This turned out to be not true however. Instead, Amara was an immortal for over 2,000 years and used to bind the spell in creation g the Other Side by Qetsiyah. Amara was reawakened by Silas after two millennia and took the cure for immortality after drinking Silas' blood.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: It is presumed that she was this for Silas. Amara was probably very needy and clingy towards Silas to the point where she wanted to be with him forever without the possibility of dying. There is also the possibility that Amara may have been jealous of Qetsiyah because Silas and Qetsiyah She was in competition with Qetsiyah for Silas' love and she showed no remorse at the time for betraying Qetsiyah to be with Silas. And like Qetsiyah, she desired to spend an eternity with Silas as an immortal being, even though she was well aware that he was playing Qetsiyah and betraying her.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Amara was a little zany and out there. This is understandable considering she's been seeing dead supernatural beings for the last 2,000 years.
  • Cruel Mercy: As if forcefully curing Amara of her immortality wasn't enough, Qetsiyah brutally murdered her by slitting her throat and cutting her heart out. On top of it, Qetsiyah entombed Amara's true love, Silas, in darkness and then created The Other Side as a way to prevent Amara from ever being reunited with Silas in death should Silas take the cure and die of a mortal death. Turns out none of this was the truth and was only according to the legend of Silas. Amara's fate was actually much worse. Qetsiyah desiccated Amara, entombed her and than used her as the physical anchor for her spell to bind The Other Side. Therefore, Amara was not only starving and desiccating as an immortal being, but she was also experiencing every single supernatural death for over 2,000 years. That is much, much, much worse than actual death. Qetsiyah killing Amara would be tame in comparison to the actual fate Amara ended up suffering for centuries. Amara's 2,000-year-old plus fate also makes Silas' 2,000-year-old plus fate look like Disneyland by comparison.
  • Cute and Psycho: Understandable considering she was trapped in her own body and communicating with dead supernatural beings for over two millennia.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: Mostly because she hears and sees dead supernatural beings, it causes Amara to become clumsy due to being tormented.
  • The Cutie: Amara is actually quite adorable and loveable in her ways. She is very naive by nature.
  • Damsel in Distress: Considering that Amara was entombed and desiccating and was the physical anchor for The Other Side for over 2,000 years, Amara definitely qualifies as this.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Considering that Amara has lived nothing but misery as being the anchor to the Other Side and experiencing every single supernatural death for over two thousand years, Amara could definitely qualify as having this.
  • Death by Woman Scorned: Amara was murdered by Qetsiyah out of jealousy and anger. Turns out this was just the legend of Silas and Qetsiyah did not kill Amara but rather she used Amara as the physical anchor for the Other Side, making Amara experience every single supernatural death for over 2,000 years.
  • Death Is Dramatic: The way Qetsiyah described how she killed Amara was brutal. After Qetsiyah cured Amara of her immortality, she slit Amara's throat and cut out her heart. When Silas discovered Amara's brutal murder, he was extremely devastated.
  • Death Seeker: Since Amara has been awaken and taken the cure for immortality, Amara is desperate to die after being trapped in her own body for over 2,000 years.
  • Did Not Get The Guy: Amara wanted to die and spend eternity with Silas together in death. Unfortunately, this did not happen for Amara as when Amara and Silas both died, Amara crossed over to the afterlife to find true peace as a mortal human and Silas crossed over to the Other Side as a warlock. To make matters worse, Qetsiyah had transferred the anchor from Amara to Bonnie and Qetsiyah killed herself to be with Silas on the Other Side. This means that Amara is separated for all time and for all eternity from Silas and did not find true eternal peace in death with her soulmate after 2,000 years of endless suffering. In other words, Qetsiyah "won".
  • Disposable Woman: It was assumed that Amara was dead or murdered according to the original legend of Silas. However, this turned out to not be true and that she was in fact used as the physical anchor for the Other Side by Qetsiyah. And even when Amara was found and reawakened 2,000 years later, Amara wanted to die and eventually killed herself by stabbing herself with a knife.
  • Distress Ball: Amara's entire 2,000 years of immortal life have been nothing but distress.
  • Doomed by Canon: From the legend of Silas, it is clear that Amara's fate is a tragic one, even if the legend happened to not be true.
  • Doppelgänger: Technically, Tatia, Katherine and Elena are all doppelgangers of Amara. Amara is the progenitor or originator of the Petrova doppelgängers.Because of this, Amara is known as the Original Petrova, despite Amara not having a last name.
  • Driven to Madness: Being the anchor and experiencing every single supernatural death for 2 millennia would drive anyone absolutely crazy.
  • Driven to Suicide: Amara's endless suffering as the physical anchor to the Other Side has made Amara yearn for death more than anything else. And in 5.07, Amara finally ends her 2,000 year suffering by stabbing herself and killing herself.
  • Dysfunction Junction: Amara suffered a tragic life and fate due to a Dark and Troubled Past, all in the name of falling in love with Silas.
  • Eternal Love: Amara wanted to live for eternity with her true love Silas, so she consumed the immortality elixir. Sadly, Amara was brutally murdered when Qetsiyah discovered that Silas had given the gift of immortality to Amara instead of her. Turns out that Qetsiyah lied and faked Amara's death and used Amara as the anchor for the Other Side.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Amara embraced death and wanted to end her immortal suffering.
  • Fate Drives Us Together: The relationship between her and her true love Silas is built on the concept of destiny and fate. This concept also extends to her and Silas' doppelgänger bloodlines.
  • Fate Worse than Death: It is revealed in 5.06 that Amara has been alive this whole time and that Qetsiyah had lied to Silas and faked her death. Qetsiyah instead used Amara as an anchor for the spell in creating the Other Side. As a result, Amara has been suffering due to being trapped in her own body for over 2,000 years, which has clearly caused much trauma psychologically, emotionally and mentally for Amara. It seems as though Amara has suffered a similar tragic fate, a fate worse than actual death, as her true love Silas has, who was entombed in darkness for two millennia, starving and desiccating. At the ending of 5.07, as it turns out, she had had it much worse than Silas. Because she was the anchor to the Other Side, she experienced every single supernatural death. For 2,000 years. All the while starving and desiccating. It's little wonder why she went insane.
  • First Of Its Kind: Amara is the first female immortal in the world.
  • Foil: To Qetsiyah. Amara was seen to be more gentle, kind, naive and idealistic by nature while Qetsiyah was more aggressive, confident, and passionate.
  • Forbidden Fruit: For Silas. Silas was engaged to be married to Qetsiyah and Amara was Qetsiyah's personal handmaiden. Hence, why Silas and Amara's love for each other was strongly forbidden.
  • God Couple: With Silas. She and Silas were the world's very first immortal beings. Amara was the world's first immortal woman and Silas was the world's first immortal man.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: Like Silas, when Amara consumed the immortality elixir and made herself truly immortal, therefore, unkillable, nature created a loophole by creating a doppelgänger bloodline which would be passed down to her descendants. Tatia, Katherine and Elena are all doppelgängers of Amara due to the doppelgänger "gene" being passed down Amara's family bloodline.
  • The Gwen Stacy: For Silas. She was murdered before Silas could do anything to stop Qetsiyah.
  • Hereditary Curse: Like Silas, as a result of Amara consuming the immortality elixir, nature created a doppelganger bloodline for Amara which would be passed down the Petrova bloodline.
  • The Idealist: In regards to her love for Silas. It was obvious that Amara was a true and hopeless romantic at heart as she desired immortality so that she could spend an eternity with her one true love (Silas).
  • Identical Grandson: Tatia, Katherine and Elena are physically identical to Amara. This is because Amara is very distant ancestor to Tatia, Katherine and Elena.
  • Immortality: Amara became a true immortal alongside Silas and became the world's very first immortal woman.
  • Immortality Hurts: Amara described her immortal life as a "living hell" due to being the anchor to the Other Side instead of spending it with Silas.
  • Immortality Seeker: Amara sought immortality out of her desire to spend an eternity and live forever with her soulmate Silas.
  • The Ingenue: Amara had a purity and naivety about her.
  • Inter-Class Romance: With Silas. While Amara was poor, Silas seemed to be on the wealthier side.
  • Interspecies Romance: With Silas before they both became immortal. Silas was a warlock and Amara was a human.
  • I Just Want to Be Free: Considering that Amara was entombed, desiccating and starving and was the physical anchor for the Other Side and therefore communicating with dead supernatural beings, it is understandable that she just wanted to be free from her eternal suffering and wanted to die in order to find true peace in the afterlife. Fortunately for Amara, she ended up getting her wish when she died and crossed over to the afterlife. However, she ended up finding peace in the afterlife without her true love, Silas.
  • Kill the Cutie: Qetsiyah killed Amara out of pure rage and jealousy. Subverted as it turns out that Qetsiyah didn't kill her and actually did something much worse than actual death to Amara: making her the physical anchor for the Other Side. In the end, Amara actually ended up killing herself and committing suicide all so her suffering could finally come to an end.
  • Killed Off for Real: Amara dies after she stabs herself. She crosses over to the metaphysical plane to find peace but sadly and tragically, does not end up with her true love Silas, as he has died and crossed over to The Other Side and is stuck with Qetsiyah for eternity.
  • The Lost Lenore: For Silas. Silas spend over 2,000 years believing that Amara was dead.
  • Love Hurts: In regards to Silas. Almara wanted to spend eternity with Silas, her true love, but instead, she got over 2,000 years of suffering as being the anchor to the Other Side.
  • Love Triangle: Involved in the most tragic one of the series (between herself/Silas/Qetsiyah).
  • Magical Girlfriend: For Silas. It wasn't as if Silas had any problem with attracting members of the opposite sex. Hell, Silas was engaged to be married to Qetsiyah. However, Amara is Silas' true love and soulmate.
  • Manic Pixie Dream Girl: For Silas. Although Silas was engaged to Qetsiyah, it was clear that Amara was Silas' One True Love.
  • Meaningful Name: The name Amara is a feminine name of Greek origin which means "eternally beautiful". Ironically, Amara was an immortal before she was brutally and tragically murdered.
  • The Mentally Disturbed: Due to being the anchor to the Other Side, Amara ended up suffering 2,000 years of chaos, which lead to her becoming mentally and psychologically unstable.
  • Messy Hair: Could be because she was locked up for centuries and centuries without having access to a hair brush or comb.
  • The Mistress: For Silas. While Silas was engaged to be married, Amara was his secret lover.
  • Monster Progenitor: Amara is the progenitor or originator of the Petrova Doppelgänger bloodline, which spawned Tatia, Katherine, and Elena.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: Qetsiyah brutally murdered Amara out of jealousy because Silas was madly in love with her and not Qetsiyah.
  • Mysterious Waif: Amara came off as mysterious in the flashbacks. Even when she is reawakened in the present time 2000 years later, there is still an air or aura of mystery about her.
  • Mystical Waif: Amara was used as the mystical anchor to the Other Side in which Qetsiyah had binder her to the spell. This was because Amara was immortal and indestructible and Qetsiyah needed an anchor that was eternal and everlasting, hence why Qetsiyah used Amara as the anchor.
  • Naïve Everygirl: Amara was highly naive and innocent. She had a childlike quality about her and seemed to be a true romantic at heart since she desired to spend eternity as an immortal with Silas.
  • Nice Girl: Amara is a good-hearted, gentle and kind soul.
  • Not Afraid to Die: Amara desired death above all else due to suffering for over 2,000 years.
  • Not Quite Dead: Amara wasn't truly dead as the legend of Silas suggested. In fact, Amara was desiccated, entombed and entrapped in her own body for 2,000 years and was also used as the anchor for the Other Side.
  • Official Couple: With Silas. Their romance is over 2,000+ years old.
  • The Ojou: Amara was seen to be very delicate, proper and ladylike. See Proper Lady.
  • The Older Immortal: Along with Silas. Amara was the very first immortal woman in the world.
  • The One That Got Away: Silas, of course. Amara never got her happy ending with him due to a jealous and vengeful person, Qetsiyah.
  • One True Love: For Silas. Amara is Silas' soulmate and true beloved.
  • Only One Name: She didn't have a known last name like Silas.
  • The Ophelia: Amara ended up suffering from a mental and psychological breakdown due to being the anchor to the Other Side and hearing dead supernatural beings for over 2,000 years.
  • Opposites Attract: Silas was a powerful and wealthy warlock while Amara was a poor human.
  • Plot-Triggering Death: Amara's death is the whole motivation behind Silas' story and him committing the actions he has in both season four and five.
  • Plucky Girl: From what has been seen of her, Amara seemed to be rather idealistic and optimistic by nature.
  • Power at a Price: Although Amara became an immortal, there were a few consequences and bad circumstances that happened. First, because Amara became truly immortal and therefore, un-killable, nature needed a loophole in order to maintain the balance, so, nature created a doppelgänger bloodline for Amara, which ended up being passed down to her family, relatives and descendants (and which spawned Tatia, Katerina and Elena).
  • The Power of Love: Because of Amara's powerful and strong love for Silas, Amara desired immortality and ended up defying nature by consuming the immortality elixir and becoming truly immortal.
  • Psychotic Love Triangle: And how! Both Amara and Qetsiyah were deeply and passionately in love with Silas, although Qetsiyah's love for Silas was more to the If I Can't Have You…, Murder the Hypotenuse, and Yandere levels.
  • Purity Personified: See The Ingenue, The Pollyanna, and Naïve Everygirl.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Amara wore a purple or fuchsia dress and was also the very first immortal woman in the world.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Amara was over 2,000 years old and was therefore, the oldest female character in the series universe (along with Qetsiyah).
  • The Reveal: It was revealed that Amara was Silas' true beloved and that she is the original Petrova.
  • Reincarnation Romance: With Silas. Her doppelgänger bloodline and Silas' doppelgänger bloodline are literally recreated every century (according to Qetsiyah) and are destined to meet and fall in love with each other, emulating Amara and Silas' love for each other.
  • Sealed Good in a Can: Was entombed and trapped in her own body for two millennia and was the anchor to the Other Side. The opposite of Silas, who was Sealed Evil in a Can and was entombed in darkness while starving for over two millennia.
  • Second Love: For Silas. It could be assumed that Qetsiyah was Silas' First Love.
  • Shrinking Violet: Amara seemed to be rather shy, docile and introverted by nature.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: In regards to her true love, Silas.
  • Starcrossed Lovers: With Silas OH SO MUCH. In fact, Silas and Amara should be the Trope Codifier. They could give Romeo and Juliet a serious run for their money.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: With Elena and Katherine. Amara is the physical spitting image of both; this is because she is a very distant ancestor to both of them.
  • Superpower Lottery: As an immortal, Amara possessed various abilities.
    • Immortality: Amara was The Ageless (Type II), Complete Immortality (Type I), Resurrective Immortality (Type IV), The Undead (Type V) and a Life Drinker (Type X). It is the act of not aging, or succumbing to any human illnesses. Unlike all other known immortals, including The Original Vampires, Immortals are truly and unconditionally immortal.
    • Super-Toughness/Made of Iron: Amara and all immortals can take a great amount of damage.
    • Healing Factor: Amara and all immortals can snap their finger bones back into place after being broken, and have been seen to fully recover from gunshots, stab wounds, snapped necks, and torso impalement.
    • Super-Strength: Amara and other immortals are stronger than most humans, with strength equaling hunters of The Brotherhood of the Five. However, they are nowhere near as strong as Vampires, as probably even a newly turned Vampire can best an Immortal in combat, due to the immense difference in physical prowess.
    • Telepathy: Amara has the ability to read the thoughts and memories of another person.
    • Master of Illusion: Amara and other immortals have the power to create powerful illusions. They are able to use these illusions on anyone they desire no matter how powerful. The ability to cause illusions also allows a form of shapeshifting, since they can cause beings to believe that they are seeing the Immortal in the form of another. They can be used on multiple people in multiple locations simultaneously. They can keep themselves at a physically safe distance while casting illusions. The illusions have been proven sufficient against many vampires capable of brute force.
    • Voice Changeling: Amara and other immortals are able to change their voice to whatever thy want.
    • Pain Infliction: Amara and other immortals are able to inflict illusional pain onto others.
    • Mind Manipulation: Amara and other immortals have the ability to control minds, plague people's dreams, and erase humans and other supernatural being's memories, even without eye contact, even while they are on vervain.
    • Made of Iron: Amara and other immortals are immune to all known weaknesses of the vampires. They're immune to wood, sunlight, vervain, and werewolf bites. It is unknown if decapitation or Heart Extraction would have had any affect on them, although it is highly unlikely as their bodies are completely indestructible.
    • Super-Reflexes: Amara and other immortals possess superhuman agility, flexibility, and dexterity. They can move, jump, climb, and run incredibly fast without difficulty or exhaustion.
    • Super-Senses: Amara and other immortals have extremely keen senses of hearing, sight and smell that far exceed those of humans.
    • Photographic Memory: Amara and other immortals are said to possess perfect recall and to be unable to forget. Their minds are often called "vaults" in which they store all information permanently.
  • Together in Death: Subverted and averted. Although Amara couldn't spend an eternity as an immortal being due to the tragedy, Amara still desired to be with Silas forever and find peace with him in true death. Unfortunately, this did not happen, as Amara was a mortal human and Silas was a warlock and after they both died, Amara crossed over to the metaphysical plane and Silas crossed over to The Other Side, meaning that Amara is tragically separated from her soulmate for all eternity.
Amara to a dead Silas in 5.07: "Our eternity starts now."
  • Trauma Conga Line: Amara has been through so much pain, suffering and tragedy, that it is possible that she shares the title of "Most Tragic Character" in the series universe along with Silas.
  • Troubled, but Cute: Amara is very beautiful but she has a severely troubled past and has suffered a lot of the many centuries all in the name of true love.
  • Uncanny Family Resemblance: With Katherine and Elena. Tatia, Katherine and Elena are the physical spitting image of Amara. Amara is the originator or the progenitor of the Petrova doppelgänger bloodline and Tatia, Katherine and Elena are all doppelgängers of her. Amara is also a very ancient or distant ancestor to Tatia, Katherine and Elena.
  • Unkempt Beauty: Considering that Amara had been desiccating and entombed for over two millennia, it's understandable why Amara would look unkempt and have messy hair.
  • Who Wants to Live Forever?: Not Amara. However, Amara did desire to live forever and for an eternity as an immortal being only for the sole purpose of love and being with Silas for eternity. But when Amara was robbed of her happiness with Silas and was instead, used by Qetsiyah as an anchor for The Other Side for 2,000 years, Amara wanted to subvert her immortality, become a mortal again, die and find peace in the afterlife due to her endless suffering.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Amara seemed to be a true romantic at heart as she has said that her sin was falling in love with Silas and wanting to spend an eternity with him.
  • Yandere: For Silas, although not the the same extent as Qetsiyah. She is more of a Clingy Jealous Girl.

    Tatia Petrova

Tatia Petrova

Played By: Nina Dobrev

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tatia_petrova.jpg
"Fate does not dictate my heart, Elijah."

Tatia Petrova was born in 10th Century A.D. She was a Petrova doppelgänger with Niklaus and Elijah Mikaelson fell in love in the late 10th/early 11th century. She is the first doppelgänger to be created from Amara's line after she was turned into a true immortal in 1st century B.C.

  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Tatia comes off as a Proper Lady who has an air of elegance and sophistication.
  • Damsel in Distress: Since it seems as though Esther had used Tatia in the spell that helped to turn her entire family into vampires and also in the spell to bind Klaus' werewolf side, which is believed to have killed her, it could be assumed that Tatia was this.
    • Esther revealed that she never killed Tatia and never wanted to, she had hoped she and Elijah would hit it off, but since he was new to his vampirism, he accidentally killed her when he lost control of the bloodlust.
  • Doppelgänger: Tatia is known to be the first doppelgänger of Amara, the world's first immortal woman. Her doppelgängers are Katherine Pierce, Elena Gilbert and possibly other unknown Petrova doppelgängers. Like Katherine, Tatia passed down the doppelganger gene through her bloodline.
  • Identical Granddaughter: Tatia bears a striking physical resemblance to Amara, the world's very first immortal woman. This is because Tatia is a very distant descendant of Amara and a doppelgänger of Amara. Tatia's doppelgänger, Katherine Pierce, also looks exactly like her because Tatia is an ancestor to Katherine.
  • Only One Name: Tatia only has one name and does not have any known surname.
  • Posthumous Character: Tatia had died back in the 10th century after their mother had "apparently" used her in a spell that would bind Klaus' werewolf side. Esther had done this because she wanted to end the Sibling Rivalry between Elijah and Klaus, which only became more intense because of both brothers being in love with Tatia. It turns out it was Elijah that killed her in a moment of blood frenzy; this act haunted him for centuries though was repressed.
  • Proper Lady: Tatia looks pretty similar to Amara because she has an exquisite and poised aura and attitude about her.
  • Sibling Triangle: Tatia was involved in a love triangle with Elijah and Klaus, which only managed to intensity the Sibling Rivalry between the two brothers as both brothers were in love with her. According to Elijah, Klaus loved Tatia more than he did though she loved Elijah more.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: With Elijah. She never loved Klaus. But since Elijah accidentally killed her, they could never be together like they and Esther wanted. Klaus had accepted the fact that Tatia was in love with Elijah.
  • Wild Hair: Her hair is wild and in many braids, as was the fashion and norm for those who lived in the 10th Century AD.
