Josh Rosza
Joshua 'Josh' Rosza
Played By: Steven Krueger
Joshua "Josh" Rosza is a vampire and was formerly Klaus' spy, before having his compulsion lifted by Davina. Turned and compelled by Klaus, he has been the hybrid's primary spy inside Marcel's army of Nightwalkers. He has also shown himself to be working hard to win Marcel's favour and get a daylight ring.
- Casual Danger Dialogue: Tends to engage in this, although he is a little more noticeably nervous than is typical.
- Distressed Dude: Klaus coerces Davina into helping him by biting Josh in the Season 1 finale.
- Establishing Character Moment: Marcel puts a coin between Josh and his friend and says whoever picks it up will get to live. Josh doesn't even start to reach for the coin before his friend grabs it. Luckily for him, Marcel isn't a fan of people who betray their friends.
- Family of Choice: Josh implies he has this with Davina when he comforts her after the witch ancestors torment her on the Other Side and leave her afraid to practice magic.
- Forgot About His Powers: shades of this, as well as How Do I Shot Web?. Josh was turned so recently that he still sometimes seems to forget he's not human. For instance, while he DOES instinctively know how to compel people, Cami needs to remind him of this fact when he has to compel Kieran's doctor to keep a secret, and even then, he fumbles the words and asks for a redo.
- Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: He's the most moral and the least vicious vampire on the show.
- Gay Best Friend: To Davina.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Attempted, sort of. When Davina is heading off to kill Klaus, Josh stops himself from telling her that succeeding would mean that Josh would die, too. It ends up being a moot point.
- I Am What I Am: At one point Josh references how he hated himself pre-series for having a sexuality that screwed up his relationship with his family. By the actual time frame of the show, however, Josh has fully accepted himself.
- The Load: Averted. Despite being one of the physically weaker characters (as a newbie vampire in a series where vampires gain strength with age), Josh is a surprisingly helpful person to have around, He helps Marcel rebuild his army in the second season.
- The Mole:
- Klaus compels him to spy on Marcel.
- After Davina undoes his compulsion, Marcel uses Josh to spy on Klaus.
- Nice Guy: Is one of nicest characters in the show, see above.
- Number Two: When Marcel is first rebuilding his army, Josh is the one helping him recruit newbies and is the next senior vampire of "Marcel's Army" since everyone else died from werewolf bites. It is unknown if he retains this position now that Elijah has joined the community to mentor the vampires.
- Plucky Comic Relief: Somewhat, his scenes are usually filled with humor in some way either because he never knows what to do next because he is new to the world or he screws up compelling someone.
- Straight Gay
- What the Hell, Hero?: Josh's so-called best friend not only backstabs him by grabbing the coin but becomes verbally nasty and calls him a wuss. Marcel's face when she says all this to Josh really shows his anger at her and he proceeds to break her neck.
Diego
Diego
Played By: Eka Darville
One of Marcel's guards, and is a member of Marcel's inner circle, who gain daylight rings upon entry. He's loyal to Marcel and his friends; one of his close friends is Thierry Vanchure. Just like Thierry, Diego does not like, nor trust the Originals.
- Blind Obedience: Subverted. While Diego claims he only answers to Marcel and is shown to be very loyal towards him, when Thierry is sentenced to the Garden he expression obvious annoyance and anger with his 'king'.
- Co-Dragons: With Thierry Vanchure. Eventually he becomes Marcel's only dragon.
- Dark and Troubled Past: It's only mentioned once, but apparently his entire family was killed by werewolves, hence his Fantastic Racism toward them.
- Fantastic Racism: Diego despises werewolves for what they did to his family, and believes entirely in keeping them subjugated.
- Killed Off for Real: A newly-resurrected Mikael makes a snack out of Diego, causing the werewolf venom to spread faster and thus killing him.
- Sole Survivor: He was the only member of his family to survive a werewolf attack.
- And in a strange turn of events, ends up dying from being bitten by one, which is sped up by Mikael feeding on him.
- Villainous Friendship: With Thierry Vanchure, though how villainous they are is up to interpretation given the show's Greyand Gray Morality, and since the reveal that Marcel was sort of Good All Along, their treatment of the witches can be seen in a new light.
Thierry Vanchure
Thierry Vanchure
Played By: Callard Harris
Thierry Vanchure was once a human living in the 1940s. Marcel found him near death in a war hospital and turned him into a vampire. He was described as a good musician and is Marcel's closest friend and right-hand man.
- And I Must Scream: When Marcel is led to believe Thierry is going to betray him, he seals him in the Garden for a sentence of a hundred years. As vampires cannot die of starvation, he will slowly desiccate whilst growing more and more hungry.
- Killed Off for Real: Thierry is killed by Elijah.
- Co-Dragons: With Diego.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He's in love with a witch named Katie.
- Dirty Coward: Runs off when Papa Tunde captures Rebekah and desiccates her on the spot without even trying to help her (though considering Papa Tunde wiped the floor with an Original, he probably couldn't have done much) What seals it is that he didn't even tell anyone, preferring to hide at the compound and get drunk.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Subverted. He attacks Elijah, an original, in an attempt to save Marcel's life, only for Elijah to reveal he always intended in killing Thierry as a warning to Marcel.
- It pays off sort of, his death inspires the other vampires and they go back to Marcel and attempt to take the city back though it does not end well thanks to the hidden werewolves.
- Interspecies Romance: With the witch, Katie.
- Punch-Clock Villain: Possibly. While he obeys Marcel's commands, he never shows any pleasure in doing so, and treats it more as a job.
- Starcrossed Lovers: Averted. While his romance with Katie is not met with glowing approval, Marcel tolerates it because it makes Thierry happy and it gives him a witch informant.
- On the other side of the line, some witches actually considered Thierry a friend to them, which is mentioned when he meets with Bastianna and Genevieve, in fact the latter only agrees to a meeting because of it.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Leads almost half the Vampires in the Quarter to leave after Klaus's less then inspiring speech...
- The Only One I Trust: For Marcel, even after he had Thierry sealed away in the Garden. In Le Grand Guignol on the run from Klaus and desperate they turn to him to help with taking out two of the witch elders.]]

Gia
Played By: Nishi Munshi
A beautiful, soulful, edgy, rocker girl who left home at an early age due to her rocky upbringing and who became involved in the New Orleans music scene. She joins Marcel Gerard's new vampire army and quickly becomes Elijah Mikaelson's protégée.
- Revenge by Proxy: However much Klaus tried to justify it afterwards, it's clear that he compelled her to burn alive to spite Elijah for picking Freya over him. He even makes Elijah watch.
- Suicide by Sunlight: Is compelled by Klaus to take off her daylight ring and burn to death.
- Star-Crossed Lovers: She and Elijah start to genuinely fall in love with each other... and then she's killed off.
Lucien Castle
Lucien Castle
Played By: Andrew Lees
Lucien is one of the oldest vampires in the world, being the first human turned by Klaus. In 1002 AD, he was a servant to the Count de Martel in southern France, sent to escort one of the Count's guests to his castle. The Originals ambushed them, killing everyone but Lucien, who used his wits to convince them to spare him so they could pass as the noble guests they just killed. A thousand years later, he tracks down Klaus to New Orleans, in the guise of warning him about a growing war between the remaining vampire bloodlines, but it's clear that he has a hidden agenda.
- Always Someone Better : Feels this way about Klaus. He spent centuries patiently finding a way to turn himself into Klaus's better.
- Ambition Is Evil: He started out a lowly peasant and servant. By the time of the series he's already a powerful vampire and CEO. And even then he wants to further his power and usurp the Originals.
- Ax-Crazy: Probably one of the insanest characters of the entire franchise. He even did his psycho laugh repeatedly when he was an upgraded Original vampire and let's not start about his signature
.
- Being Tortured Makes You Evil: His torture at Tristan's hands played a significant part in his own decent into evil.
- Betty and Veronica: Lucien was a shy servant, while Klaus impersonated a semi-confident nobleman.
- Betty and Veronica Switch: Lucien became a billionaire playboy-like CEO of a multinational supernatural company, while Klaus was a father. Aurora still preferred Klaus over Lucien.
- Big Bad: Becomes the ultimate antagonist of season 3 before he ends up dying on the third last episode of the season.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: Once Brought Down to Normal, Klaus slashes Lucien's face before ripping his heart out.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: While he spends the majority of the season manipulating and plotting against everyone, his one redeeming quality is that he loves Aurora De Martel. Ultimatley subverted when Aurora reveals she doesn't and never will love Lucien. At which point Lucien denounces her, declaring Love Is a Weakness, and later tried to kill Rebekah, knowing and not caring that Auroa's life is linked to hers.
- Eviler than Thou: Has gradually become this to Klaus. While the contrast is mostly due to Klaus humanizing himself, showing compassion and even gaining positive character development, as well as being content simply raising his daughter; Lucien one the other hand, has since become everything Klaus was and worse, nearly whipping out most of the werewolves in New Orleans, attempts to wipe out a majority of the vampire race, and ultimately rejects the emotion of love, which is an undeniable redeeming quality in Klaus.
- Faux Affably Evil: Maintains a chummy and fun loving demeanour, all the while making it no secret that he's an unstopable killer and proud of it.
- From Nobody to Nightmare: Almost literally. He was just a poor servant when he first met the Originals, and by the end of the season became one of the biggest threats to the Mikaelsons.
- Hero Killer: Proves to be quite the proficient one once he becomes the Arc Villain, killing Finn and Cami.
- Homoerotic Subtext: With Klaus, especially the beginning of the season.
- Hypocrite: While it's far from his worst trait, as a human he hated and resented the nobles for looking down and walking all over those beneath them. All the while desiring to become a noble himself. Once he gets into power, both financially and as a vampire, he does exactly that to both humans and lesser vampires, whom he sees as little more than toddlers.
- Inferiority Superiority Complex: His primary motivation for his ambitions, he doesn't believe he belongs in anyone's shadow. This is his feelings to Klaus especially.
- Jumping Off the Slippery Slope: Lucien was a meek, naive servant and peasant. As a vampire, over the centuries he has since become a vicious, remorseless and ambitious murderer. By the end of the season, he is willing to kill two thirds of the vampire race, both to satisfy his hatred for a handful and to rule over the remaining vampires (not caring the former love of his life is an inevitable casualty), as well as help the Anscestors take over New Orleans.
- Love Makes You Crazy: If Klaus had not slept with Aurora back then, Lucien might not have harbored near as much resentment for his sire.
- Meaningful Name: His name has the same meanings as Lucifer.
- Nouveau Riche: Came into power, financially speaking, over the centuries, while he was born a peasant.
- Villainous Crush: He had a thing for Freya, but it didn't stop him continuing his revenge or even harming her.
Aurora de Martel
Aurora de Martel
Played By: Rebecca Breeds (Main body in The Originals & Legacies) & Danielle Rose Russell (Hope Mikaelson's body in Legacies)
The only daughter of the Count de Martel. She's briefly introduced in the flashback of the second season premiere, described by the then-human Lucien as beautiful but with a wicked side. She and Klaus fall in love, and when she discovers what he is, she tricks Rebekah into giving her out of her blood, then completes the transition into full vampirism. A thousand years later sees her caught up in the machinations of both Tristan and Lucien, but she has her own agenda.
- Aristocrats Are Evil
- Ax-Crazy: She's supposed to be suffering from a mental illness.
- Big Brother Worship
- Damsel in Distress : She was there for fourteen episodes and was repeatedly kidnapped or harmed by the protagonists, even saved twice by Lucien.
- Evil Redhead
- Incest Subtext: With her brother. And she and Lucien, who has a one-sided affection for her, spent a century compelled to believe they were brother and sister.
- Laser-Guided Karma: She dumped Rebekah in the ocean and buried Freya alive. Klaus immured Aurora alive, he and Elijah dumped Tristan in the ocean to suffer for eternity.
- Mercy Kill: Intended to do this for Tristan after he was sealed in an unbreakable boundary and thrown into the bottom of the ocean by killing Elijah in order to stop her brother from suffering.
- Mind Rape: Elijah compelled her, Lucien and Tristan to believe they were Rebekah, Klaus and Elijah for a century in order to confuse Mikael's trail until the compulsion broke after the Mikaelsons were daggered for the first time by the Brotherhood of Five. Aurora had the worst reaction of the three and it made her mental issues even worse.
- Undying Loyalty: She will always choose her brother.
Tristan de Martel
Tristen de Martel
Played By: Oliver Ackland
He is the brother of Aurora de Martel, and is the son of the Count de Martel. He is the first vampire ever turned by Elijah Mikaelson. In the present day he is the leader of The Strix, a society of vampires in Elijah's bloodline.
- Aristocrats Are Evil
- Butt-Monkey: Unlike Aurora and Lucien, Tristan is more of a Smug Snake than a
Magnificent Bastard. Any moves he makes are almost immediately countered by the protagonists, and he will invariably find himself physically tossed around, tortured, and belittled to the degree the main characters simply don't take him seriously. It all culminates in him being locked in a magically sealed shipping container and dumped in the ocean to drown for eternity. - The Corrupter: Lucien became this to the Strix after Elijah was forced to abandon them once Mikeal came hunting for the Mikelsons, turning what was supposed to be a brotherhood of like-minded thinkers bend on bettering the world into, in Elijah's own words, "a legion of egomaniacal sociopaths".
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He adores his sister and is pathologically protective of her.
- Hoist by His Own Petard : The Serratura that Tristan planed to use to lock the Mikaelsons away forever to avoid the prophecy is instead used against him to trap him in a shipping container at the bottom of the ocean for the rest of his days.
- Incest Subtext: With his sister.
- Killed Offscreen: While it is not shown Tristan presumably died with the rest of Elijah's Sireline after the Hollow killed him to resurrect herself.
- My Sister Is Off-Limits: Just ask Lucien. He also attempted to forbid her from being with Klaus.
- Puppet King: Was seen as the leader of the Strix but was actually a mere figurehead until the real leader decides to ditch him to face his demise.
- Undying Loyalty: To his sister.
- The Unreveal: Unlike with Lucien and Aurora it is never shown when, or why, Elijah turned him into a vampire. The closest we get as an explanation is that Elijah and Tristan "made each other" in the same way Klaus and Lucien did.
- Unwitting Pawn: For Lucien.
