     The 108 Stars of Destiny

Tenkai Star: Matthew Luke Laonglaan

A boy who lost his parents to an accident that happened after the campaign against Melficio Victorialuna. Without any relatives to depend on, he now lives with his childhood friend, Hyacinth. Fate will pave the road for him and her to meet the other 106 Stars of Destiny.

  • Killed Off for Real: If he loses the duel against Kira in episode 48.
  • Magnetic Hero: He and Hyacinth have to recruit the other Stars of Destiny, of course.
  • Meaningful Name: His surname is also Jose Rizal's pen name. It means "ever ready" in Filipino — which ties in to his preparedness for the unexpected events in his life.
  • Otaku: His conversations always contain anime and video game references, and his room is full of anime merchandise.

Tengou Star: Gabby Lopez

One of ABS-CBN's head honchos. He works hard in order to make ABS-CBN a reputable media network, but worries about the worsening row with GMA.

  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Forms one with Lt. Trillanes to demonize the Nueva Liga Filipina and anyone related to President Arroyo in episode 52.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Once he makes his Face–Heel Turn.
  • Face–Heel Turn: He betrays the Nueva Liga Filipina in episode 47 because one of ABS-CBN's valuable assets, Kris Aquino, was hurt. The Lopezes and the Aquinos are close allies since 1986.
  • The Man Behind the Man: He favors Wendy to become the winner of Pinoy Big Brother Season 2, just because the latter is an Aquino supporter.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Being the executive of a huge broadcasting network, he uses his power to help his subordinates and the Nueva Liga Filipina in general.

Tenki Star: Ben Tulfo

The only Tulfo brother to serve in the Nueva Liga Filipina. He has his own show, "Bitag" (Filipino for "trap"). His anti-crime tactics are superior; therefore he was picked as the chief strategist.

Tenkan Star: Setsumi Sakura

  • Broken Bird: Retained from where she left off in the ending of the Visual Novel.
  • Cute Ghost Girl: The reason she appears this way is because she was being called to adventure in the Philippines in order for her to make amends with her suicide and to explore more on the true meaning of life.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Throws needles in combat.

Tenyu Star: Hero Angeles

One of the original warriors who fought alongside Hiroyuki Fujita and company. He becomes a celebrated hero, but he is still hounded by people who have tarnished his reputation. That fate must be reversed by Hero himself.

Tenyuu Star: Joseph Bitangcol

Hero's greatest rival for the hand of Sandara Park. At first, he may be an antagonist in Hero's eyes, but once he fully realizes his manipulation by an evil force, he will fight with Hero and Sandara.

  • Camp Gay: Though he doesn't show his gayness too much.

Tenfu Star: Mike Punzalan

  • Determinator: He's determined to champion the cause of airing anime on Philippine TV without too much censorship.

Tenman Star: Dave Batista

Tensyo Star: Willie Revillame

The host of the variety show, Wowowee. Even though he suffered a loss of some kind with the Ultra stampede, he still works hard to help less-fortunate people via his game show.

  • Convicted by Public Opinion: He is usually blamed for the Ultra stampede, eventually forcing him to leave both his variety show and the Nueva Liga Filipina. He believes that Joey de Leon, the host of a rival variety show, is behind the hate campaign against him.
  • Good Feels Good: He's a philanthropist.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Related to the above.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Leaves the Nueva Liga Filipina in episode 47 over concerns about criticisms from other people regarding his show.

Kira Yamato's best friend. Forgetting old misunderstandings, he promises to stand by him until the end.

Tensyo Star: Kira Yamato

Reunited with his old friend Athrun, the two have assisted ABS-CBN in its major events as leaders of its mecha division, starting with the Claudine Barretto-Raymart Santiago wedding. Their experience as Gundam pilots will be useful sometime in the future.

  • Unstoppable Rage: Shows this in his duel against Matthew Luke in episode 48.

Tenan Star: Pritong Kandule

  • Catchphrase: "PBP!" (a corrupted form of "PVP")
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Get past his sailor's mouth and his inept placement of stats (despite boasting as an AGI Knight, he actually puts his status points into INT, which is not suitable for swordsmen like him), and you can see his greater potential as a swordsman.
  • Sir Swearsalot: Frequently uses "p*ta" (Filipino for "whore").

Tenyu Star: Erich Gonzales

The winner in Star Circle Quest Season 2. As a fellow champion, she sympathizes with Hero regarding his situation. A master of the spear.

Tensatsu Star: Zenki

He was supposed to be one of the guards in the Claudine-Raymart wedding, but after messing it up a little, he was teleported back to Japan by Chiaki. After a long sermon, Chiaki commands him to search for the seeds of Karuma in the Philippines, which she feels are running rampant due to smuggling.

  • Expy: Of Chun-Li, right down to fighting style and preferred weapon (spiked bracers).

Chiyu Star: Michael V.

The energetic singer-comedian and one of the pioneers of the long-running comedy show "Bubble Gang". Though he loves being a Kapuso ("of the same heart", basically anyone who's affiliated with GMA), he hates the way the network war is developing.

  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: He may look and act goofy (due to his job as a comedian), but when the time comes, he's all serious and willing to help end the war between ABS-CBN and GMA.

Chii Star: Sam Milby

The male half of the Pinoy Maximillian Knights. He has the qualities of Captain America: brave, patriotic, strong-willed.

Chiei Star: Toni Gonzaga

  • Hospital Hottie: Carried over from the original manga/anime.
  • The Medic: Though he doesn't get involved in actual battles.
  • The Stoic: Also carried over from the original manga/anime.

Chibi Star: Jeremy Hidano

He aims that after his stay in Pinoy Big Brother Season 2, he will find a job to provide financial support for himself and eventually for his mother. After meeting a cruel fate at the hands of Charlotte, the Dessert Witch, she was revived and was transported to the Philippines. She was found by Joelle Pelaez and was convinced by her to join the Nueva Liga Filipina as assistant innkeeper.

  • Cool Big Sis: Like she was in the anime.
  • Trauma Inn: She runs the Nueva Liga Filipina's inn service along with Joelle.

She starred in several of GMA's fantasy shows, but then became a tsundere girl when she was fired by GMA for no particular reason at all. She gets mad one minute, but then gets nice by the next. Unknown to her, she has the power of fusion much like Yuri Hyuga, Kurando Inugami, and Shania, all from the Shadow Hearts series.

  • Convicted by Public Opinion: Before she left the Nueva Liga Filipina, Angel left GMA first for ABS-CBN. People were not happy with that decision and she was thus ballyhooed. She believes that her replacement and new-found rival, Marian Rivera, is the instigator of a hate campaign against her. Her mental instability as a side effect of her fusions doesn't help matters, either.
  • Henshin Hero: Her fusions are basically other fictional characters such as the Philippine equivalent of Wonder Woman, Darna.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Wields a pair of scissors in combat, when she is not performing her fusions.

Chiyou Star: Carmen N. Pedrosa

A journalist/columnist who is being criticized more and more for her supposedly anti-Aquino articles. She finds refuge in the NLF in order to convince more people that Noynoy Aquino isn't "the one". Has a bone to pick against fellow columnists Conrado de Quiros and Ellen Tordesillas.

The secret behind this young man's success as a blacksmith is his deep relationships with the girls he chooses to be his forging partners. Unfortunately, his casanova tendencies normally go too far.

Chizen Star: Atty. Persida Acosta

The head of the Public Attorney's Office. She's always the go-to for those who want a personal lawyer but are cash-strapped to hire one.

  • Good Lawyers, Good Clients: She definitely wants to be on the side of good. She also plans to open a satellite office of the Public Attorney's Office at Balay Kapatiran to better serve her beleaguered clients in exchange for her membership into the army.

Chitan Star: Yumi Fukuzawa

The petit soeur to Sachiko. Always sticks to Sachiko wherever she goes, making Matthew feel the same way to Hyacinth.

Chikaku Star: Sachiko Ogasawara

The Rosa Chinensis en Bouton and the representative of the Mountain Lily Council (Yamayurikai) to ABS-CBN. She must solve the mystery of who is the mastermind behind the off-airing of her show on ABS-CBN.

  • Trauma Inn: She runs the Nueva Liga Filipina's inn service along with Mami.

Chikei Star: James Yap

The current husband of Kris Aquino. Some voice in his head prompted him to do a "miracle" with Hope Centeno inside a cubicle within Dr. Belo's clinic. When the cubicle incident broke out and Kris went berserk, he immediately regrets his doing and now seeks redemption of himself and Kris.

Chiken Star: Willie Nepomuceno

One of the country's best-known impersonators. Renders his services to the army as, of course, impersonator of some of the Stars of Destiny as well as past characters from the army's history.

  • Celebrity Impersonator: His line of work. He plans to establish a mini comedy bar inside the Balay Kapatiran to better entertain his allies and to train aspiring impersonators.

Chikou Star: Nigel Santillan

  • Intrepid Merchant: Sells various items, and later becomes the Nueva Liga Filipina's item shop merchant.
  • Otaku: He's a fan of Recette, The Merchant, and Rinnosuke. He even hangs their portraits in his shop.

     Supporting Characters

The Seven Blessed Beings

These entities are handpicked to assist Matthew Luke and Hyacinth in their struggles as leaders of the Nueva Liga Filipina — via the borrowing of their inherent powers to the two. There are seven beings each for Matthew Luke and Hyacinth, and three sets of them are revealed so far.

Matthew Luke's Blessed Beings

Hyacinth's Blessed Beings

All of them share the following tropes.

  • Fusion Dance: Once a gem representing a Blessed Being is pulled out from Matthew Luke's / Hyacinth's bracelet and is placed into Matthew Luke's / Hyacinth's forehead, a Transformation Sequence involving this will commence. The sequence is a combination of Kamen Rider Faiz and Kamen Rider Hibiki.
  • Limit Break: Once any of them have assimilated into Matthew Luke and/or Hyacinth, the latter two will dish out Exceed Charges that either deal a ton of damage to enemies or can greatly benefit the allies.
  • Mentor Archetype: All of them are more experienced than Matthew Luke and Hyacinth since they have all gone through trials of their own and survived.
  • Spirit Advisor: Though they are all not dead; they are very much alive.
  • Super Mode: They basically count as one for both Matthew Luke and Hyacinth.

The Arbiter Triumvirate

Consisting of Maria Makiling, the Arbiter of the Present; Leknaat, the Arbiter of the Future; and an unrevealed-as-of-yet character who serves as the Arbiter of the Past — this triumvirate oversees the struggle against the Philippine Eldritch Abomination, the Trapo Rune.

  • Big Good: They all handpick the Stars of Destiny and the Seven Blessed Beings to fight alongside themselves to defeat the Trapo Rune for good.
  • Hermit Guru: They all hide in their own sanctuaries, located in the three "sacred mountains of the Philippines": Mount Makiling (Maria Makiling), Mount Banahaw (Leknaat), and Mount Apo (the unrevealed-as-of-yet character).
  • Spirit Advisor / The Watcher: They all act as inspirational guides to the heroes.

Kaede Fuyou

A girl who has a rocky past with Asa. She was summoned to the Philippines by Gozon and Abrera in order to humiliate both Asa and the visual novel / anime she came from, but was freed from their control after she was defeated. She later assists Hyacinth's parents.

Reginald and Ma. Yukina Monterola

Hyacinth's parents. Together with their only daughter, they form a happy middle-class family.

  • But Not Too Foreign: Ma. Yukina is half-Spanish, half-Japanese. Her parents met in Boracay, fell in love, and naturalized themselves as Filipinos in order to continue living together.

Tony Boy Cojuangco

The head honcho of ABC-5. He was manipulated at first by DJ Mo, but gains his sanity after the DJ was defeated.

Tsukasa Kadoya, Natsumi Hikari, and Yuusuke Onodera

The dimension-traveling trio suddenly landed in the Philippines while traveling in between Rider worlds. Since they aimed to solve the anomaly in the Philippines (which was also the aim of the Nueva Liga Filipina), the two groups decided to join forces to put a stop to Kris Aquino's schemes.

  • Magic Music: Tsukasa (Decade) utilizes a special card that summons Eric Cartman, who sings "Kyle's Mom is a Bitch" (only that all instances of "Kyle's Mom" are replaced with "Kris Aquino") in order to rile up Kris and neutralize the anomalies she created.
  • Power Trio: What the Nueva Liga Filipina sees the three as.

Dark Paladin X

A mysterious silver-armored man who goes out slaying members of the N3 Collective. His main purpose is to purge the entire Philippines of extremist sub-only purists and uphold the rights of oppressed dub fans.

Lt. Col. Juan "Juanon" Anonuevo

A member of the AFP contingent that is in a strategic alliance with the Nueva Liga Filipina in order to resolve the Manila Peninsula siege.

  • Patriotic Fervor: A true nationalist who hates the Magdalo for selling out their souls to the anti-Arroyo faction, who are mostly corrupt politicians themselves.

    Villains

Henry Angeles

Hero's older brother. He basically wants to manipulate Hero into eternal servitude. But then, he has deeper intentions in mind.

Atty. Felipe Gozon

The head honcho of GMA. As the head, he will stop at nothing to finally defeat ABS-CBN in the ratings game.

Emily Abrera

One of the members of ABS-CBN and, secretly, Atty. Gozon's cohort. She works to destroy ABS-CBN from within starting with the axing of Maria Watches Over Us.

Wilma Galvante

Atty. Gozon's right-hand woman. When Gozon is killed off, she takes over GMA and continues his legacy of finally destroying ABS-CBN.

Kris Aquino

The wife (later estranged) of James Yap. At first, she, Cristy Fermin, and Alfie Lorenzo, plan to force Hero out of ABS-CBN and into GMA, and then neutralize him. But then, once Hero clears his name, she remains defiant against him and even antagonizes the Nueva Liga Filipina for that purpose alone.

Later on, after she found out that her husband and a plastic surgeon, Hope Centeno, did a "miracle" in Dr. Belo's clinic, she initiated a huge smear campaign against her, while still maintaining her grudge against the Nueva Liga Filipina. She gained even more magic power, thanks to a nefarious deal.

As one of the prominent personalities of the Aquino clan, she has even greater sinister plans for the Philippines.

  • Artifact of Doom: Her destructive bagua, the source of her magic power.
  • Deal with the Devil: After her defeat by Hero and company, she makes a deal with Schirach, the Goddess of All Dark Magic, to try to eliminate the Nueva Liga Filipina once and for all.
  • Musical Assassin: The song of her frustration, "Hope Stole the Precious Thing" (itself a reference to a popular Touhou Project fan-made song, "Marisa Stole the Precious Thing"), caused several anomalies in different areas of the Philippines.
  • Never Say "Die": While most other villains listed here are Killed Off for Real, she instead gets sent to the Advent Void after her second defeat.
  • Rich Bitch: She's so tactless, and she manipulates people into sympathizing with her even though she herself committed many wrongdoings in the past. All it takes is a healthy dose of...
  • Time Stands Still: She uses her magic to stop space-time within Metro Manila in order to track down Hope.

Cristy Fermin and Alfie Lorenzo

Two showbiz commentators who were in league with Kris in her plan to topple Hero. But once they are defeated, they switch sides and, in the future, help the Nueva Liga Filipina in their struggles.

  • The Atoner: To be honest, they have had enough of Kris' tactless attitude; so they decided to atone for their alliance with her.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Of course, they have to help the group they have once antagonized.
  • Mission Control: For the Nueva Liga Filipina after their Heel–Face Turn.

Lt. (s.g.) Antonio Trillanes IV

A rogue soldier who leads the Magdalo Group, a team of soldiers dissatisfied with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's rule. He and his group first appear as pirates with rune cannons and was the one pulling the strings behind the war between ABS-CBN and GMA.

  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Forms one with Gabby Lopez to demonize the Nueva Liga Filipina and anyone related to President Arroyo in episode 52.
  • The Chessmaster: He devices elaborate plans to destroy both Arroyo and the Nueva Liga Filipina, whom he believes is a group of entirely Arroyo supporters (the NLF is really a neutral group).
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: He backstabs his allies, Teofisto Guingona and Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim, when he realizes they are useless due to the mere mention of tear gas. He also hints that he will make the Aquinos his lapdogs in order for him to rule the country.
  • Dual Wielding: Wields a concealable handgun and a sword in combat.
  • Expy: Aims to become the Philippine Lelouch Lamperouge.
  • Passive-Aggressive Kombat: When it comes to taunting his political enemies, he always excels. His group even sets up Internet trolls to do his bidding of discrediting Arroyo and her supposed "allies".
  • Summon Magic: At one time, he summons a dragon with a chick tattoo.
  • Villainous Breakdown: When the Manila Peninsula siege doesn't proceed as he planned, he slowly degenerates into an angry, potty-mouthed mess.

DJ Mo Twister

A radio DJ with plans of conquering Philippine showbiz, and eventually, the entire country, with an iron fist. His radio show, "Forbidden Questions", serves as his propaganda mouthpiece.

  • Blow You Away: He wields the power of wind, befitting his name.
  • Evilutionary Biologist: Utilizing Orphnoch DNA he injected into himself and his three subordinates, he aims to achieve his goal.
  • Gonzo Journalism / Self Promotion Disguised As News: He orchestrates the "Death to Telenobela" newscast in order to discredit his enemies, both known and perceived.
  • Killed Off for Real: After being pelted with several powerful attacks, including a Wave-Motion Gun from three Gundams, the Ren'ai Rangers' Romantic Love Blaster, Hero's, Sandara's, and Joseph's finishers, Angel's Death of a Thousand Cuts, and finally Matthew Luke's and Hyacinth's First Blessed Being Exceed Charges. He was even humiliated even more when his three subordinates decided to separate from him moments before he died.
  • Manipulative Bastard: He also manipulates ABC-5, another Philippine network, in order to destroy both ABS-CBN and GMA.
  • Perfect Poison: He also intended to administer non-lethal, yet still dangerous, poisons into the food of VIPs at the 12th ASEAN Summit in Cebu — in order to snuff out President Arroyo, whom he believes is another great threat to his plans. The scheme was later stopped by the Nueva Liga Filipina.
  • Spirit Advisor: He eventually learned the error of his ways and showed up in Matthew Luke and Hyacinth's Dream Land as a Jerk with a Heart of Gold in episode 41.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: He turns into the Inquisitor Orphnoch along with his subordinates in the Boss Battle that ends his Story Arc.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: He doesn't mind the hundreds of people that will be killed and lots of reputations that will be besmirched... as long as his ultimate goal of Philippine showbiz reform is achieved.

Gretchen Barretto, Loren Legarda, and Borgy Manotoc

DJ Mo's subordinates. Gretchen is an actress, Loren is a senator, and Borgy is an actor who's a relative of the former strongman Ferdinand Marcos.

  • Driven by Envy: Gretchen joins DJ Mo to exact revenge on Happily Married couples (as she was the victim of a failed marriage), Loren does the same to exact revenge on her former buddy at ABS-CBN (who later became Philippine vice-president) Noli de Castro, and Borgy does the same to exact revenge on those who tainted the Marcos name.
  • Green Thumb: Loren's elemental power, as she is an advocate of forest preservation both in this story and in Real Life.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Done during the battle against DJ Mo, no less.
  • Mook Maker: Gretchen creates several mooks, the Queridroids, from her Orphnoch-given powers.
  • Power Fist: Borgy's Orphnoch mutation enhances his punches.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Due to having Orphnoch DNA injected into them, Gretchen, Loren, and Borgy all transform into the Prima Donna, Lamia, and Puncher Orphnochs, respectively.

Hope Centeno

An employee of Dr. Belo's beauty clinic. She was herself in love with James, and thus does everything in order to dislodge him from Kris, even teaming up with Joey Marquez.

Joey Marquez

Kris' ex-husband. He separated from her before due to her disgusting attitude; and in a gesture of revenge, he planned the "miracle" in Dr. Belo's clinic in order to make his ex-wife die of insanity.

Wendy Valdez

A housemate in Pinoy Big Brother Season 2. She rigged the results in order to keep Jeremy out of the show. She also controls her (alleged) squeeze and fellow housemate, Bruce Quebral.

The N3 Collective

An organization that aims to wipe out all those who bastardize Japanese entertainment, including anime, video games, and tokusatsu; and thus declares the Nueva Liga Filipina as its sworn enemy. Its leaders are Liluts Kokizzle Gandanghari Volfango, the "Dear Leader"; and Arnold Enerccio Shashi Dumlao, the "Generalissimo Vanguard". They manipulated Kira Yamato into betraying the Nueva Liga Filipina.

  • Boomerang Bigot: The two leaders (and many of its members) are natural-born Filipinos, but they regret being born as "the most inferior race".
  • Conspiracy Theorist: The organization believes in conspiracy theories that portray America in a negative light. They also concoct their own conspiracy theories against American anime voice actors and anyone involved in Power Rangers.
  • Cultural Cringe: An organization of Filipinos who hate their own culture and instead turn to the "superior" Japanese culture? Check and check.
  • Cultural Posturing: According to them, "the glorious Nihonjin are putting the finishing touches on quantum chromodynamics while you Failipinos are still figuring out how to wipe your bottoms without getting dirty hands." (This is adapted from a sentence in the actual trope page.)
  • Diabolical Mastermind: The two heads of the Collective are this, and they always evade themselves from the prying eyes of national authorities and even ethical hackers swearing to take the Collective's website down for good.
  • Eagleland: Type II. The organization believes America is the great evil, butchering all Japanese entertainment in the form of dubs and adaptations. Also extends to their beliefs of Fallen States of America and Oppressive States of America.
  • Final Solution: Advocates for the total elimination of the entire "old" Philippines — including its people (except for themselves and their blind loyalists) and culture to make way for a "new" one, which will be a 100% owned Japanese territory. That will also mark the start of the renewal of the then-botched Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere.
  • Foreign Culture Fetish: The organization has undoubtedly has an uncritical worship for Japanese culture (that for them, only consists of anime, manga, video games, and tokusatsu).
  • The Fundamentalist: Essentially a group of these.
  • Hope Crusher: Vows to crush the hopes of everyone who opposes them.
  • It Is Beyond Saving: "It" = Philippines.
  • Japan Takes Over the World: This organization wishes for this to come true.
  • Kick the Dog: "We don't care what happens to those lower-than-lowlifes." This is the reason why the leaders encourage their members to go on killing sprees.
  • Loony Fan: The N3 represents the anime "purists". Even though they might be Well Intentioned Extremists at best, their tactics... well... crossed the line.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: An organization of weeaboos, with elements of religious cults, communism, Nazism, fascism, Islamist extremism, and anti-Americanism. The organization also openly calls for the execution of anyone suspected to be dub fans and Power Rangers fans.
  • Pretty Fly for a White Guy: The leaders and members of the organization all want to be Japanese. How? By begging Japan to occupy them (after the Philippines has been wiped clean of its own national and cultural identity).
  • The Social Darwinist: Believes that the Japanese are the master race and the entire world, especially the Philippines and the United States, should bow down to them unconditionally.
  • Speak Ill of the Dead: The organization likes to lambaste Iris Chang, even though she is already dead by the time the story takes place, for the mortal, unforgivable sin of advocating for the awareness of the Nanking Massacre, which it vehemently insists never happened at all.
  • Straw Fan: The two leaders are extreme cases of this.
  • Tautological Templar: The N3 believes they are always right. They always berate anyone who disagrees with their beliefs, even the Nueva Liga Filipina, ''especially'' when it comes to Japanese entertainment.
  • Utopia Justifies the Means: The N3's "only road to prosperity" — which is making the Philippines a fully-owned Japanese territory — is justified by them despite all the heinous crimes and potential diplomatic nightmares that will arise in the process.
