The school that the Kazama Family attends. It's still segregated by classes like in feudal Japan, with the wealthy elites attending Class-S and the lower class attending Class-F.
Practically everyone at the school is a weirdo, and almost all of them can kick your ass.

Class 2-F
The Kazama Family's class. Considered dead-lasts by their peers, they have sub-par equipment and are generally seen as hopeless. However, thanks to the Kazama Family they now boast some of the strongest fighters in the school which, mixed with Yamato's ingenius strategies and Cap's talent for inspiring others, had led them to becoming the strongest class in the school.
Tadakatsu "Gen-san" Minamoto
Voiced by: Jun'ichi Suwabe (Japanese) and Houston Hayes (English)
Gen is one of the residents of Yamato's dorm. He tends towards surliness, but is actually quite a nice guy. He's also popular with girls, but to Usami's consternation displays no interest in them, though he admits to Yamato there's someone he likes.
- Aloof Ally: He'd be considered a member of the Kazama Family if he didn't drift around so frequently.
- Anti-Hero: Type II.
- Big Brother Mentor: Wanko views him as this. And only this.
- Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: With Kazuko.
- Cannot Spit It Out: Gen can't muster the nerve to make his feelings known to Wanko. While she does reject Hideo for being too intense, Yamato does nothing that Gen couldn't have done if he had just had a little more courage. Though she does think of him more as a big brother, he acknowledges that this is his own fault for never trying to be more until it was too late.
- Celibate Hero: He resists all advances and ignores all girls that flirt with him, leaving Usami to wonder if he's gay. However, he just happens to be in love with Kazuko, which nobody seems able to figure out.
- Chick Magnet: He's one of the Elegante Quattro, the four most popular guys in the school along with Touma, Capt and Kyougoku.
- Childhood Friend Romance: He's in love with Wanko, but she just thinks of him as something of a big brother figure. He knows it, too, so he's mostly just embraced that role.
- The Comically Serious: Pretty much never tries to be funny. Emphasis on "tries".
- Defrosting Ice King: Acts cold and aloof towards the Kazama family for most of the year, but comes around to them and joins the team by the end of the game.
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Everyone calls him Gen-san.
- Face of a Thug: His intense features make him look like a way worse guy than he actually is.
- Friendzone: Wanko views him as an older brother figure rather than a love interest, which doesn't surprise him much.
- Heavy Sleeper: His hobby is sleeping, which he'll do just about anywhere.
- Ineffectual Loner: Refuses to join up with the Kazama family despite how much better off they'd make him.
- I Was Just Passing Through: His only excuse for coming to help. It gets pretty ridiculous later on.
- Japanese Delinquent: Looks and tries to act like one, and his attendance record is rather spotty, but he otherwise subverts this trope.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He'll basically do whatever you want him to, but he'll act like a jerk while doing it.
- Knight in Sour Armor: He's just as heroic as the Kazama Family are, but he's a lot more Tsundere about it.
- A Man Is Always Eager: Averted, much to Kyojin’s confusion. He won’t accept confessions, throws away girl’s phone numbers and won’t enter a brothel with Kyojin. He wonders if Gen might be gay sometimes.
- Morality Pet: Wanko is the only person he's ever openly nice to.
- Mr. Fanservice: He's incredibly handsome and is shown shirtless on a regular basis. In universe, Chika drools over seeing him in his swim trunks.
- Nice Guy: Tsundere attitude aside, he's very considerate and helpful without expecting anything in return.
- Only Sane Man: Only Gen questions Wanko over whether she minds being treated like a dog. She barks at him and he gives up.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue to Kazuko and Kazama's red.
- The Reliable One: Gen will always do whatever he's asked to do without fail, which leads to Yamato calling him "the most trustworthy guy on campus".
- Single-Target Sexuality: If it’s not Wanko, Gen doesn’t care how much they flirt with him.
- Sixth Ranger: After Gakuto is hospitalized at the beginning of Agave, Gen is made an honorary member of the Kazama family. He becomes a full member at the end after admitting to himself that he does want to be a part of the group and everyone comes outside to invite him up.
- The Stoic: Very in control of his emotions.
- Supreme Chef: His cooking is stupendous, which the Kazama Family frequently take advantage of.
- Tall, Dark, and Handsome: He's good-looking enough to be considered one of the Elegante Quattro.
- Tall, Dark, and Snarky: Prefers to snark at others despite being a very kind person at heart.
- Team Chef: Just don't call him that to his face.
- Tsundere: Yamato even plays with and lampshades it in his face once. At the end of Agave, he finally admits that he does want to join the Kazama family, prompting Yamato to instantly call him dere.Gen: "I'll make you more tea. But..."
Yamato: "I know, we won't get you wrong."
Gen: "Good that you understand. It's not for your sake."
Suguru Oogushi
Voiced by: Nobuo Tobita (Japanese) and Leraldo Anzaldua (English)
An unathletic member of class 2-F, Suguru scorns the real world, especially real women. He's intelligent and calculating to an extent, but a complete otaku to the core.
- Action Survivor: Surprisingly helps out on Yamato's Suicide Team as a last line of defense. He's no good at fighting, but it still takes guts.
- Bunny-Ears Lawyer: One of the smartest guys around but also a raving otaku who hates all living things.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: He gets excellent grades and is also brave enough to rush to the frontlines to help out.
- Freudian Excuse: His first girlfriend dumped him and left him with a burning hatred of all real people. He frequently states that 2D girls will never betray him.
- Geek Physiques: He's very tall and skinny.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: It's virtually impossible not to piss him off.
- Hidden Depths: He's an outstanding student.
- Insane Troll Logic: He wants to fully embrace the 2D world, so after finding Chika attractive once he decides to hire a prostitute to lose his virginity so that he can completely hate the experience and sever his ties with the real world.
- Non-Action Guy: Maybe even worse than Moro on the battlefield. Like Moro, he helps out on the frontlines during the class war any way.
- Otaku: To a ridiculous, amazing and hilarious degree.
- Scary Shiny Glasses: Occasionally.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: In-Universe: He hates the manga adaptation of a visual novel he played because he thinks they ruined one girl's character.
- This Is Unforgivable!: Changing one character's personality for an adaptation? Those monsters!
- Those Two Guys: He and Ikuro provide a more standard example than Gakuto and Moro.
Ikuro Fukumoto
Voiced by: Kappei Yamaguchi (Japanese)
A short, monkey-like member of class 2-F. His raging perversion puts even the likes of Gakuto to shame.
- Action Survivor: Joins Yamato on the front lines as part of the Suicide Brigade during the class war.
- Animal Motifs: Gets compared to a monkey pretty frequently.
- Butt-Monkey: The only person who has it worse than Gakuto.
- Cowardly Lion: Even though he cowers behind the others throughout the whole thing, he's still brave enough to tag along with the suicide brigade.
- Defiant to the End: Caught running an illegal gathering by Umeko, he extols the virtues of ero after stripping. Unimpressed, she laughs at his small size before knocking him out.
- Double Standard: Rape, Male on Male: In Chris' route, it's strongly implied that he was raped in a sauna, but not only does he seem okay with this, but it apparently turned him gay. The entire thing is played for laughs.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Parodied in Momoyo's S After Story. When the Mouryou Gathering is raided, Yonpachi heroically sacrifices himself for the group as promised. Gakuto, the last to abandon him, is crowned the new Emperor of Virgins.
- I'll Be in My Bunk: Frequently. Even in the middle of class, he'll suddenly excuse himself.
- In-Series Nickname: Yonpachi, or forty eight. He got this name for memorizing all 48 positions of the Kama Sutra.
- Lovable Sex Maniac: Yonpachi talks about sex constantly. If he isn't talking about sex it's only because he isn't in the scene.
- Non-Action Guy: And unlike the others, he never gets to prove himself.
- Take Up My Sword: When the teachers finally catch on to the Mouryou Gathering, where unpopular guys gather to auction off pictures of and stuff belonging to pretty girls, Yonpachi stalls while everyone else escapes. The last to flee, Gakuto, takes up his title as the Emperor of Virgins.
- Those Two Guys: He and Suguru provide a more standard example than Moro and Gakuto do.
Mitsuru "Kuma" Kumagai
Voiced by: Shōzō Iizuka (Japanese)
A massive but kind member of class 2-F, Kuma is actually pretty physically powerful. Due to being a rather nice guy and knowing all about food, he has a lot of friends.
- Big Eater: Umeko frequently has to knock food out of his hands while he eats during class.
- Berserk Button: He can get kind of unpleasant if he goes too long without eating.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: He's not a martial artist and doesn't like fighting, but people get uneasy when he gets hungry because he'll start to rampage if he goes too long without eating. It isn't all just fat under that balloonish exterior.
- Demoted to Extra: Not particularly prominent in the anime.
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Everyone calls him "Kuma".
- Gentle Giant: He's massive and quite strong, but he's a really nice guy.
- Mighty Glacier: He's as slow as you'd imagine, but he can lift cars with no problem.
- Nice Guy: His easy going and generous attitude makes him one of the most popular students in the class.
- Non-Action Guy: While he's very strong, he's no fighter.
- Stout Strength: Despite his rather heavy frame, he's pretty strong and quite difficult to effectively damage.
Mayo Amakasu
Voiced by: Kayo Sakata (Japanese) and Margaret McDonald (English)
Mayo is the short, pink haired class representative. Despite her tiny size and the fact that no one takes her seriously, she views herself as the Cool Big Sis type. She has a sub route in the Visual Novel.
- A-Cup Angst: Although she doesn't really bring it up, there's a CG scene with her, Chika, and Umeko in a hot spring with Mayo looking very disappointed in herself.
- All Work vs. All Play: Mayo and Angel are both friends of Chika and when they meet in Mayo's route, Angel goes on about how freely she lives, contrasting Mayo who feels responsible for everything.
- Because You Were Nice to Me: She and Chika are friends for the simple reason that Chika stood up for her when she was being bullied for being poor.
- Berserk Button: When Chika tells her about how she bought some drugs Mayo slaps her so hard she drops them. A shocked Chika just stands there stunned while Mayo repeatedly slaps her until Chika apologizes for her poor judgment.
- Class Representative: Subverted, as she's really no good at it. Despite her effort.
- Curtains Match the Window: Light pink hair, pink eyes.
- Green-Eyed Monster: It’s implied that Mayo feels envious of people who don’t have the crushing level of responsibilities she does. When she tries lecturing Angel at one point over how freely she lives, Angel just blows off her criticism and tells her it’s more fun to live this way. Doesn’t she ever want to cut loose as well? Chika interrupts before she can answer, but the reply was clearly going to be yes, if one came at all.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Chika.
- Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: In her sub-route with Yamato. Not in that he's huge, as he's average height, but she is absolutely miniscule.
- Hypocritical Humor:Mayo: [Monshiro] is the type of person that tries to act like an adult, so I want to adore her as an onee-san!Chika: R-right... there are types of people like that.
- Neutral Female: She's not a fighter, and will always only go as far as cheering during battles.
- Older Than They Look: The game claims she's seventeen or eighteen at times, but she looks more like seven or eight.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Mayo slapping Chika is such a shock that Chika can do nothing but sit there and be slapped repeatedly.
- Rescue Romance: Mayo is targeted by a pedophile at one point before being rescued by Yamato, which depresses her because she thinks of herself as the big sister type. Nothing comes of it immediately except Yamato getting angry enough to track down the criminal, after which he notices that Mayo is crushing on him before she realizes it herself.
- Selective Obliviousness: Ignores any hint that others don’t really see her as the big sister type.
- Those Two Guys: A female example with Chika.
- Token Mini-Moe: Much to Jun's joy, she fills the cast niche of 'girl that looks way too young to be in this kind of story.'
- Totally 18: She's skipped several grades and is a second year high school student, but the game assures us at length that she's actually eighteen.
- What Were You Thinking?: When she asks Chika if she actually bought drugs, she sits there slapping and yelling at her until Chika realizes that she's being an idiot.
Chika Ogasawara
Voiced by: Hiroka Nishizawa (Japanese) and Kris Carr (English)
A pretty and popular girl in class 2-F, Chika is more or less a standard teenager. While generally being a fairly nice person, there are both boys and girls that don't like her and she responds in kind. She has a sub route in the Visual Novel.
- Alpha Bitch: Has traits of this but is also a...
- Damsel in Distress: Quite a few times.
- Friends with Benefits: Was not quite Yamato's girlfriend for a few years in Stacy's route. After they slept together once, she suggested they continue until one of them found someone they liked. When Yamato did, she confesses that she had long ago come to love him for real. However, by that time Yamato had already tired of the relationship and had a tendency to space out when with her, even while having sex.
- Good Bad Girl: Yamato’s assumption, but it turns out that Chika is pickier than he thought and wouldn’t sleep with someone she’s not serious about, meaning it's Their First Time and kind of awkward.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Mayo.
- Hypocritical Humor: Sneers at Gakuto for planning to get close to Koyuki when she’s depressed at being in class F and then instantly goes on to talk about how she wants Touma in the class so she can get close to him when he’s depressed at being surrounded by dumb guys.
- In Love with Love: She likes to hit on all the hot guys and is obsessed with finding a good boyfriend. However, when she finds herself unexpectedly interested in Yamato, she admits to herself that she's really not that attracted to the pretty boys like Cap or Gen. Further, unlike Haguro, she's patiently waiting for an actual good boyfriend to show up before she invests too much in a relationship.
- Last-Name Basis: She calls Yamato by a permutation of his last name, Naocchi. When the two begin dating, her walking in and calling him Yamato-kun and him calling her Chika acts like a thunderbolt in the classroom.
- Neutral Female: She's not a fighter by any means, and will simply cheer on the sidelines.
- Rescue Romance: Averted. Gakuto convinces Yamato to let him help Chika by himself so that she'll have a good impression of him and it works, though for his efforts he gets hospitalized by Ryuuhei. Unfortunately, that just means she respects him rather than loving him.
- Shipper on Deck: Supports Mayo and Yamato strongly if there’s any hint of a relationship between them. There usually isn’t since Mayo just isn’t his type.
- Small Role, Big Impact: Her attempts to avoid a drug dealer after she refuses to buy or take any drugs quickly drives her to seek help from the Kazama family. Gakuto volunteers and gets beaten so badly he's hospitalized, causing the Kazama family to take personal interest in crushing the drug market and restoring order to the town. This snowballs into riots, assassination attempts and rape gangs, the last of which fortunately isn't shown accomplishing anything.
- Strange Minds Think Alike: Subverted. After Yamato realizes that they have very similar tastes, he excitedly asks if she likes hermit crabs. She has absolutely no idea what he's talking about.
- Those Two Guys: A female example with Mayo.
Kuroko Haguro
Voiced by: Yoshinori Fujita (Japanese) and David Matranga (English)
A somewhat unpleasant girl in class 2-F, Haguro tends to be the butt of jokes when Gakuto and the others aren't available. She has little in the way of sympathetic moments, but during Momo's route she sacrifices herself in the war game to protect 2-F's flag and is beaten unconscious for her efforts.
- Blackface: She's supposed to be a ganguro girl, but her make up is much darker than the usual ganguro style and she just looks like a racial stereotype.
- Butt-Monkey: Though not to the same extent as the likes of Gakuto.
- The Friend Nobody Likes: Chika seems to be her only friend and even she gets pissed at Haguro.
- Generic Cuteness: She's treated as a Gonk both by the characters and the narrative, but other than her very dark skin colour and her boyish voice, she doesn't look much different than most other characters.
- Heel: She becomes a professional wrestler after graduation and quickly becomes a heel fighter.
- Irony: Despite having very loose morals when it comes to sex, she's one of the extremely few number of girls who never sleeps with Yamato. It's probably a case of Everyone Has Standards on the latter's part.
- Jerkass: She tends to be rather unpleasant to everyone apart from Chika on occasion.
- Really Gets Around: Whenever there's someone attractive around she starts talking about how she wants to rape them, or talks about how she'd totally sell herself out for money or all sorts of things. In Monshiro After scenario, thanks to Kawakami Cherry, which swells up if touched by a virgin, it is confirmed that she's not one.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: After a consistently low portrayal throughout, she gets a moment of dignity and bravery in Momoyo's route where, after insulting everything her class has been doing, she finds herself defending the team flag from attack despite being knocked unconscious for her efforts.
- Verbal Tic: Kei, meaning type as in "I'm the picky type" or similar.
- Vocal Dissonance: She has a low boyish voice.
Class 2-S
The children of wealthy elites and Class-F's polar opposite. They're all incredibly wealthy, talented and smug and essentially dominated Kawakami Academy before the Kazama family showed up, and have since forged a fierce rivalry with them for the position of top class. Despite all this, they're genuinely good people on the inside and will team up with Class-F when there's a greater threat.
Hideo Kuki
Voiced by: Yūichi Nakamura (Japanese) and Andrew Love (English)
Hideo is a loud, brash member of class 2-S and its class representative. He is both strong and intelligent, though kind of arrogant due to him being a member of the absurdly rich Kuki Family. In spite of this, his hamminess leads to the story not taking him very seriously. He is in love with Wanko because of the dedication she gives to mastering martial arts.
- Big Damn Heroes: He really loves to do this in the Agave route:
- Rescues Chika from thugs once at the beginning after she refuses to buy any drugs, realizing it was stupid the first time.
- He comes to the rescue in the nick of time for the climactic fight against Touma's group.
- Big Man on Campus: Alongside his rival Kazama.
- Brains and Brawn: The brawn to Touma's brains, though Hideo isn't stupid, just bull-headed and not a very good strategic thinker.
- Chick Magnet: Though not to the extent of Touma, he's still popular with the ladies.
- Cool Big Bro: He absolutely adores his younger sister Monshiro, and always encourages her when she needs it.
- Cruel to Be Kind: When Yamato manages to convince Azumi to confess in A-1 during her route, he makes it absolutely 100% clear that he will never return her feelings, will not begin a relationship with her and doesn't not even intend to see her as a woman, which makes her cry. He does want her to be happy, but it won't happen with him and she needs to accept that. Even as direct as he was, it takes her years to accept and move on. Without that, she would probably never have found anyone to share her life with.
- Dogged Nice Guy: Persistently pursues Wanko despite her clear lack of interest. Azumi asks Yamato in private at one point and he admits that this is a large part of the reason why she's never going to accept him: he's way too intense.
- Fiction 500: He is the middle child in of the Kuki family. They own and run the Kuki Corporation, a multinational conglomerate that employs a private army of Ninja Maids and Battle Butlers, invests in advanced robotic technology, operates its own airlines, a chain of hotels, and as of Majikoi S, have revealed to be in the market of human cloning, chemical manufacturing, and public works (they have Kuki manhole covers in Kawakami). It's no wonder he goes around calling Yamato and his friends "commoners".
- Foil: Both he and Cap are known as 'heroes' and Hideo's name can even be read that way, but while Cap emphasizes a sort of manga protagonist hero, Hideo is the flashy, loud kind of hero that's the center of attention. Both also serve as leaders (Cap to his Family, Hideo to Class 2-S).
- Gag Penis: If he removes his loincloth, guys will have their spirits crushed and women can only stare in shock and awe. Also, in Kojima's case, genuine fear, convincing her that she should stay single if that's what men's genitals look like.
- Genre Savvy: Enforced. Hideo knows it's his duty as the hero to arrive late.
- Graceful Loser: Hideo is a rather nice guy once you look past his natural assumption that he's fundamentally better than you. When Yamato wins Wanko's heart, he applauds him and says that this only means that Yamato has earned his respect and that he'll support the two of them.
- Handicapped Badass: As is revealed in some routes, Hideo suffered an injury to his right arm in a terrorist attack that permanently damaged its mobility, resulting in it being slightly less responsive than his other limbs. But, as demonstrated in Tsubame's route, it doesn't stop him from kicking plenty of ass in his own right.
- Hopeless Suitor: Wanko is too nice to directly shoot him down, but she's completely uninterested. When Yamato is asked in private by Azumi what Hideo's chances are, he bluntly states that they're next to zero because his overbearing attitude makes her uncomfortable. Azumi's route confirms that he gets rejected when he makes a final confession at graduation, after which he gracefully steps aside and the two move on with their lives.
- Innocently Insensitive: He frequently requests Azumi’s assistance for ways to express his feelings for Kazuko. She does her best to be an ideal servant, but it’s clearly painful for her. After she finally confesses and gets turned down, he feels bad that he kept talking about Kazuko in front of her.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He acts like an arrogant jerk a lot of the time, but it's mostly just him hamming it up. He's actually not a bad guy at all.
- Large Ham: Apparently, being a large ham is actually part of the family traditions.
- Leeroy Jenkins: Despite knowing that he’s walking into a trap and being advised by both Touma and Jun not to walk into it, he charges straight into an ambush from both sides because caution is for commoners. He loses his bodyguards, Jun and one of the S class’ armies.
- Meaningful Name: Hideo is written 'eiyuu,' meaning hero.
- Mr. Fanservice: He's not afraid to show off his physique.
- Oblivious to Love: Hideo was completely unaware that Azumi loved him. He did pick up on the fact that Yamato probably liked her, though, and gave him his support.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: He and Touma play off each other when it comes to the leadership of class 2-S. While Touma is the undisputed leader and can really fire up the class, Touma is the calming influence on him that plays the strategic role.
- Single-Target Sexuality: Before graduating in Stacy's route, he formally confessed to Wanko and got turned down for the last time. He muses that she'll always be extremely important to him. He still plans to marry in the future, but he knows this is going to be pretty insulting for his future wife.
- Student Council President: When he enters his third year and Torako graduates, he becomes student council president.
- Testosterone Poisoning: Hideo is a man's man and not hesitant at all to let everyone know about it.
- Took a Level in Kindness: He's much more friendly towards other students from S onwards. This is most likely due to 2-S getting more screen time and him gaining a Morality Pet in the form of his younger sister, Monshiro.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Hideo is pissed that his best friend is the Big Bad. He's also pissed that Jun believes friends should support each other no matter what rather than correcting each other when they err.
- Worf Had the Flu: Defeated by Cap at the end of Momoyo’s route, but it’s noted that both were tired and on their last legs. Cap only won because Kuki’s right arm has been permanently injured in the past and doesn’t move as quickly as it should.
- "X" Marks the Hero: Like everyone else in his family, he had his forehead scarred when he was younger.
Azumi Oshitari
Voiced by: Megu Ashiro (Japanese) and Elizabeth Bannor (English)
Hideo's bodyguard and maid, she's also quite a powerful fighter. In yet another of the spinoffs, A, she gets a promotion to love interest.
- A-Cup Angst: She’s a little too mature to do the angry blushing insecure act over it, but she was skipped over for things like kunoichi training because she lacked sex appeal, which was in large part due to the small bust. Insulting if nothing else.
- Ass Shove: When Fushikawa tries hiring Yamato away from the Kuki corporation, Azumi gives her a very special special technique.
- Babies Ever After: She's pregnant in the last scene of her route, and judging by the size of her stomach, there's several of them.
- Berserk Button: She doesn't take comments about her real age well, but she can suppress that to fulfill her duty. The thing that trumps even that is insulting Hideo Kuki.
- Big Damn Heroes: After Gakuto beats Ryuuhei in the Agave route, a bunch of thugs are about to descend on him as well as Gen and Wanko, but she intercepts them.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: When Hideo isn't watching, she tends to be foul-mouthed and aggressive.
- Bodyguard Crush: She admits this to Yamato in Monshiro's route in the sequel VN. In fact, it is encouraged that the Kuki children have intimate relationships with the personal servant they have chosen. Azumi ends up talking about it since she wanted to compare Yamato's progress with her own on their respective masters.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Azumi tells Yamato to quit quoting the title of the series as though it’ll actually make her fall for him.
- Calling Your Attacks: Azumi yells out some attack names during Agave, but the techniques she’s talking about don’t really exist. She’s just yelling to distract people from what her attacks actually are.
- Combat Pragmatist: She's quite strong, but she also sets traps and attacks people quite deviously.
- Drowning My Sorrows: When Azumi gets too gloomy, she goes drinking with Yamato. She doesn’t drink too much since ninja are apparently trained to eat and drink light, but the idea is still there.
- Expository Hairstyle Change: After the second major timeskip in Azumi’s route, she’s grown her hair out. So has Miyako. Time has passed and things are different... in theory.
- The Fake Cutie: She acts rather cutesy when Hideo is looking, but is otherwise foul mouthed and violent. Due to Yamato’s suggestion in her route, she cuts back on the cutesy attitude. She’s still pitching her voice higher than normal and using the cutesy and uncharacteristic 'atai' pronoun, but ceases stuff like Kyaaaaaruuuuuun~. She really does think that kind of thing is cute rather than childish, artificial and quite creepy.
- Hopeless Suitor: At the beginning of Azumi's route, Yamato convinces her to least try to win Hideo's heart. She knows that at best she’s probably just going to get an honorable defeat, but that’s worth something on its own. When she confesses, not only is she rejected, but he tells her she should stop loving him. It will make the superior/subordinate relationship difficult and affect her duties otherwise. He will not even see her as a woman even though he respects her greatly. Of course, Hideo himself has said that part of him will always love Kazuko, which will make his future wife unhappy, so it may be for the best. After all, who would know better than Azumi that she's basically a consolation prize?
- Hypocrite: At the beginning of her route she demotes someone because their work suffered as a result of personal affairs. That's all well and good, but when she has personal issues, she just stops working altogether and Yamato has to do all her work for her until she recovers.
- Hypocritical Humor: During the race in Mayucchi's route she asks Kokoro if she can actually run in a full kimono while wearing a heavy maid outfit herself.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's not as bad she appears and is genuinely devoted to Hideo.
- Love at First Sight: She fell for Hideo after seeing his strength of character during a terrorist attack.
- Meaningful Name: The first character of Oshitari is generally read Shinobu.
- Ninja Log: To avoid a 'sick' Yamato she poofs away and leaves him to grab onto a branch.
- Ninja Maid: Complete with clones, kunai and poison. She's actually an ex mercenary. She's the head of the Kuki maids.
- Older Than They Look: She's 29, but blends in with the other high school girls.
- Old Shame: In-Universe. Much to Azumi’s horror, not only does Cookie’s memory contain old recordings of her, but they also contain recordings of awful poetry she wrote about Hideo years ago. Her inability to reconcile her current feelings with her past self leads her to seeking closure by getting a second rejection from Hideo and then accepting Yamato's proposal in a rather roundabout manner.
- Only Sane Man: While Zozuma talks endlessly about his wife and Hume his insect collection, Azumi sits in the background dying of boredom since Hume and Zozuma aren’t even having a conversation. Claudio tells her she should have just gotten drunk.
- Promoted to Love Interest: In A-1. Yamato has to put a hell of a lot of work into it though.
- Shapeshifter: It's very rarely used, but she can used the classic ninja technique of disguising perfectly as another person.
- Slasher Smile: She does this a lot
◊ - 10-Minute Retirement: After being rejected by Hideo, Azumi takes a vacation on the grounds that her work performance will be inadequate in her current state and goes back to her ninja hometown, where she briefly works as a ninja teacher.
- Tsundere: Azumi is accused of being a tsundere when she keeps assisting Yamato with her special medicines and whatnot while maintaining her normal jerky attitude. She says that at the very least she’s not going to be dere. Near the end, Stacy and Lee both call her a tsundere and tell her to knock it off with the tsun. That said, she really isn't one since all concern she shows is simply taking care of her subordinate, which she states bluntly.
- Wacky Marriage Proposal: She enlists the help of the Kuki family and the top servants to fake a mission where Yamato thinks he’s pretending to be a body double for a wedding with a new, low ranked subordinate as substitute for the bride. The whole time, he and his other subordinates are expecting assassination attempts with the idea being when nothing happens and they get to the church Azumi would reveal herself as the bride for a real wedding. Unfortunately, real assassins that were after Yamato attacked and messed up her hijinks laden plan.
- What Does She See in Him?: She's rather disdainful of Yamato and has no idea what Margit sees in him in S, though she grows to respect him in Monshiro's route. Amusingly enough, if you take the servant path in Monshiro's route this leads to three fandisk routes, one of which is Azumi's.
- When She Smiles: Azumi tends to be pretty dour, so when she smiles happily after showing off some cute clothes to Hideo Yamato is pretty startled and goes from just idly flirting with her to crushing on her for real.
- Worthy Opponent: Comes to view Yamato as one in Chris route. And one point while fighting him, she realises how dangerous he is despite being physically weaker than her, and goes all out.
Touma Aoi
Voiced by: Koji Yusa (Japanese) and Connor Leach (English)
An intelligent and handsome schemer, Touma largely serves as the brains of class 2-S. He is just as sneaky as Yamato and the two appear to enjoy their rivalry.
- Abhorrent Admirer: Flirts with Yamato occasionally. Yamato is not pleased.
- Always Someone Better: He’s both smarter and richer than Yamato. No matter how much Yamato studies, he can’t dethrone Touma from the number one position in test results and never has the resources Touma does to throw at a problem. However, even if Touma is smarter, that doesn't mean he always wins: Yamato is more socially and politically savvy.
- Brains and Brawn: The brains to Hideo's brawn.
- Calling the Old Man Out: Indirectly, but at the end of Agave he finally condemns his father openly by preparing the evidence that will lead to his arrest.
- Broken Pedestal: Touma thought his father was an honorable and successful man. Learning that he was incredibly corrupt broke Touma.
- The Charmer: Very popular with the ladies for his looks and good manners. He's able to use this to advantage quite well.
- Chessmaster Sidekick: Like Yamato, he's the mind behind Class-S but is fine working under Hideo.
- Chick Magnet: He's a member of the Elegante Quattro, the four hottest guys in Kawakami Academy.
- Depraved Bisexual: While otherwise a reasonable and tolerant person, Touma is treated as a manwhore by the story who will sleep with anyone but Jun or Koyuki, yet never shows serious interest in any of them. Being known for bisexuality is also one of the clues that Yamato uses to uncover his identity as the Mallord: Ryuuhei would not be cowed into submission, nor would he follow anyone's order normally. However, if he happened to be in love with his boss...
- First-Name Basis: Touma always uses Yamato's first name, much to his displeasure. It backfires when he doesn't talk carefully enough in front of his subordinates, who tell them that they've been looking forward to meeting Yamato (not Naoe) after what their boss has been telling them.
- Foil: He's quite similar to Yamato, but differs in that he has a lot of resources to throw at a problem whereas Yamato relies on a network of acquaintances.
- The Glasses Come Off: Touma’s glasses come off in the last part of Agave, showing his serious intention to riot all throughout Kawakami.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Touma resents the Kazama family for being an easy, casual group with strong ties and no particularly dark secrets.
- Ignored Expert: In Agave, he warns that the Magatsu Cookies that Hideo brought in to serve as guards could be hacked quite easily. They end up being exactly like that before the climax courtesy of Touma himself.
- Informed Attribute: Despite being portrayed as a highly sexually active, to put it nicely, mostly we just see him flirt and get fangirled over. We never see him, say, seduce Chika or Yumiko, both of him are at least somewhat infatuated. In fact, he rarely seems to speak to any girl who should be interested in him.
- Living Emotional Crutch: Koyuki is utterly dependent on him and Jun. When separated from them, she becomes despondent and listless. In the Koyuki route, she's less dependent on them and more rational when they're gone, but still extremely concerned.
- Love Redeems: After keeping his villainous attitude throughout Carnival, Touma finally submits when Hideo tells him he doesn’t care what Touma has done or what lies Touma has told him because they will always be friends and Hideo will always have a place for him.
- Moral Event Horizon: Invoked by Touma during a speech where he is explaining why he is attempting such pointless but unforgivable acts like throwing Carnival or trying to destroy the linchpin of the Kazama family.
- Mr. Fanservice: He's one of the four hottest guys in school after all.
- Non-Action Guy: Touma is like Yamato in that he leaves all the physical work to other people. He doesn't even have Yamato's ability to dodge. At the end of the Agave route, even Yamato is able to flatten him quite easily, though he didn't really want to win by that point anyway.
- Platonic Life-Partners: When Yamato is getting grossed out as usual by Touma's flirting, Jun clarifies that he's more discerning than he appears and Touma mentions that he would never consider flirting with Jun or Koyuki as an example. Only an animal would do that to their family.
- Professional Gambler: Hangs out in the school's gambling den, where he's the only one able to match up against Yamato and Cap. He's very good at it too, though he doesn't really need to win given his family's wealth. It seems to be a hobby or perhaps a way of gathering more status.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue to Hideo's red.
- The Rival: He generally serves as Yamato's rival and seems to have a lot of fun doing it.
- Shipper on Deck: In the alternate scenario for Koyuki's route, Touma and Jun seem to both like the idea of Koyuki and Yamato hooking up.
- Stoic Spectacles: He's flirty, but most of the time he acts aloof and intelligent.
- The Strategist: Class S's, making him and Yamato natural rivals.
- Underestimating Badassery: In Agave, he fails to recognize Mayucchi’s strength, leading to him failing to take out Cap when Yamato was kidnapped and Momoyo sealed.
- Was It All a Lie?: Touma tries to claim that he was just manipulating Hideo when he comforted him after his injury, but Hideo doesn't care. They're still friends.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Touma is pissed that Yamato refused to be friends with Koyuki. She had a breakdown not long after.
- Wouldn't Hit a Girl: During the Kawakami Battle in Chris' route he loses a match because he refuses to hit girls.
Koyuki Sakakibara
Voiced by: Minami Hokuto (Japanese) and Allison Sumrall (English)
Koyuki is a rather pretty but detached girl that clings to both Touma and Jun. She appears quite lost without them. Beneath the pretty exterior, she seems quite unhinged.
- Advertised Extra: Koyuki’s route is not about Koyuki. She barely appears in it at all, but the story is set with the premise of ‘What if Yamato had been nicer to Koyuki as a kid?’ As a result, it’s mainly an ensemble story like Agave was back in the original. Her appearances are limited to briefly establishing her basic relationship with Yamato and that she's less crazy, giving her a fight during the climax and then finally a sex scene at the end, but only if you skipped the Benkei sex scene.
- Ambiguous Innocence: She's rather spacy and doesn't seem to understand everything going on around her, but contrasting that is that she likes peeling the wings off of butterflies and Jun keeps small animals away from her so she doesn't decide to see what they look like inside.
- Catchphrase: "Yay!", "Yahoo!" and various ways of asking people if they want a marshmallow.
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: She doesn’t appear much in the fandisks. Touma and Jun are also fairly minor, but they usually appear without her.
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: She rarely pays attention, gets easily distracted by passing butterflies and almost seems proud of her bizarre nature. Occasionally she also tells depressing stories. In the true route of S her personality is stabler, which may have contributed to her lack of screen time as it didn't leave her much of a personality at all.
- Color-Coded Characters: She's extremely pale, has white hair, is always seen in her white uniform and even has a name that contains the character for 'snow.'
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Many hints of her athleticism are dropped in the various scenarios, and hell, the opening of the game. In the Ryuuzetsuran route, you see she's a Tae-Kwon Do master who can kick the crap out of Miyako, at least for a while, and even fought off Mayucchi for a little while.
- The Dog Bites Back: She finally broke down when her mother tried to outright strangle her. She snapped and when she came to again her mother was a bloody mess.
- Evil-Detecting Dog: Koyuki can tell when Jun is possessed because the light bouncing off his head lacks the proper warmth. Yep.
- Foil: At one point, Miyako and Koyuki decide that they won't get along because they're too similar. Koyuki can be considered to be a Miyako that didn't get to join the family and instead just broke under the pressure of her abusive family instead. During one of the last fights of Agave, they note that they're both quite similar and evenly matched, but Miyako wins because... Well, because of plot, really, but she makes a dirty joke and uses it as an excuse.
- Hypocrite: Whether or not you feel Koyuki should have gotten away with her crimes in Agave, by the logic of the stories she told earlier she deserved the same punishment Touma and Jun received. Mindless loyalty is not a virtue.
- Innocent Fanservice Girl: Well, maybe not completely innocent. But given that her reaction to Yamato asking to 'taste the marshmallows on her chest' was to prove he can't by letting him try...
- Kawaiiko: She's probably the cutesiest character in the story barring maybe Azumi's fake cutesy act. However, it has its darker side: She's implied to be mentally infantile.
- Magic Skirt: Koyuki and Miyako both perform flying kicks, skirts rippling in the wind, and somehow still covering everything essential.
- Manchild: Koyuki generally acts like a child too young to understand what’s going on around her as well as too young to have really learned much about empathy, so she'll dissect small animals out of curiosity or pull the wings off of butterflies among other things. Probably Yamato’s fault: She’s not so detached and bizarre in the true route of S where he let her sorta join the Kazama family. The only hints of a somewhat mature mind come out in her stories, which tend to be pretty unpleasant. In Agave, she admits that she really has no clue what's going on, but she's going to support Touma anyway.
- Nightmare Fetishist: She plans to be a nurse, which terrifies Yamato when he thinks of her creepy and destructive tendencies.
- Now That's Using Your Teeth!: Miyako uses a special projectile attack and Koyuki treats it like it's candy, so she catches it in her teeth and spits the coin out when it doesn't taste good.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Wanko is kind of creeped out by the focused and intense Koyuki that results from Kyougoku using his kotodama to raise 2-S' passion.
- Out of Focus: Did you think the Koyuki route would be about Koyuki? Well, it's not. She only appears maybe half a dozen times.
- Platonic Life-Partners: When Yamato is getting grossed out as usual by Touma's flirting, Jun clarifies that he's more discerning than he appears and Touma mentions that he would never consider flirting with Jun or Koyuki as an example. Only an animal would do that to their family.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: She's probably the strongest fighter in the whole of Class S and the fact that she's so psychologically damaged only makes her more dangerous. Her eyes are also naturally red.
- Replacement Goldfish: If Margit can’t spoil Chris like usual, she finds herself taking care of Koyuki.
- Shrinking Violet: Koyuki when she was younger was very awkward and shy. Gathering up all her courage, she approached Yamato and asked to be his friend. He said no.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Marshmallows have been her favorite since she was a little girl. She offered one to Yamato when she was little so he'd be her friend, but much to his regret when he remembers he told her no.
- Troll: Koyuki is quite the ass sometimes, especially to Kokoro, openly admitting that she likes shooting her down whenever she's happy or hopeful.
Jun Inoue
Voiced by: Tomokazu Sugita (Japanese) and Chris Ayres (English)
Jun is one of the most normal members of the cast, Comedic Lolicon tendencies aside. He's quite strong, fast and coolheaded, but due to said lolicon tendencies the story frequently makes him the butt of jokes.
- Abhorrent Admirer: Kokoro is pissed that she's right on the borderline of Jun's strike zone.
- Berserk Button: Threatening little girls around Jun will end in disaster.
- Big "WHAT?!": Gives one in Monshiro's route when he learns that Yamato is going to be her personal butler. (He actually says it in English)
- Butt-Monkey: Gets playfully abused by Momo and Azumi, mostly for his Comedic Lolicon tendencies.
- The Cameo: He appears at the tail end of Shakadou no Jun'ai Road where he beats up a delinquent in seconds while scouting for Shakadou. He's surprised at Shakadou's change of heart due to Oomura's cousin, Sakura Kugenuma.
- Chivalrous Pervert: While a self-admitted Lolicon he limits himself to watching, when he encountered an actual pedophile who tried to take advantage of a little girl he chased him away.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: He's almost as fast as Kazama and despite Azumi constantly beating him up she knows he's quite strong and is choosing not to fight back. In the Ryuuzetsuran route, he's shown to be a very strong boxer who wiped the floor with Kazama, and then took on both Kazama & Hideo at the same time!

Kokoro Fushikawa
Voiced by: Kaori Mizuhashi (Japanese) and Hilary Haag (English)
A bratty and childish member of class 2-S, Kokoro is quite aware that nobody really takes her seriously and that she's frequently laughed at. While haughty, she's actually nicer than she seems. She is surprisingly competent in a fight, but she always cries when she loses.
- Advertised Extra: Despite her prominence in the advertising, her route can be read in about an hour, has no continuation and lacks a fandisk epilogue like Margit, Tsubame and Monshiro. While she does appear in the true route of S, there's never a reason given for why she's actually there and she has little to contribute.
- Alpha Bitch: The only female member of the team whose personality can really fit under this.
- Antiquated Linguistics: Kokoro’s speech is ridiculously ancient.
- Because You Were Nice to Me: With Mayucchi being the first person not to laugh at Kokoro when she loses, she becomes one of her close friends to the point where despite having a crush on Yamato herself gives up on him immediately when she hears it’s because he likes Mayucchi. Further, she also works with her to help the prime minister in the free for all tournament with no expectation of any sort of compensation.
- Bribe Backfire: Tries to offer Chris money to not kick her too hard during a penalty kick match, apparently completely oblivious to the fact that Chris would just be furious at the attempt. She ends up getting hit so hard that she starts crying in public and is too embarrassed to go to school for days after the event.
- Butt-Monkey: This seems to be the actual cause for many of her failures, rather than lack of skill.
- Calling Your Attacks: Amusingly, it causes her to lose a beach wrestling competition despite judo being her forte. Right before launching an attack at Yoshitsune she calls out the name of the move, which allows Yoshitsune to dodge, counter and knock her out of the ring. Embarrassing.
- Comedic Spanking: In her route in S, Yamato vows to reform her behavior and make her into someone people would actually accept as their friend. Punishment for failure to treat people as equals instead of as monkeys? Spanking. He rather enjoys it.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: She's a crybaby who fails more than she succeeds. Despite that, she's still a capable fighter who fits well in the S class.
- Graceful Loser: She falls for Yamato during Mayucchi's route and offers to make him her butler but he refuses. Upon being asked again after having time to think it over, he refuses again and she wants to know why. When hearing that it's because he's interested in Mayucchi, she stops protesting and leaves it at that... though she still insults him once before leaving. For Kokoro, that's about as graceful a loss as you can hope to get.
- Hidden Depths: She enjoys making dolls and shadow puppetry.
- Hime Cut: Even bangs, sidelocks and long hair makes for a perfect traditional elite haircut, just like how she was raised. She's a little too bratty and childish to truly fit but a noble like her would probably refuse any other haircut.
- Idle Rich: After graduation she's pretty bored because she doesn't have to work and feels no real desire to do so either. She simply lounges about as the daughter of a very rich and powerful family.
- Imagine Spotting: She can tell that the Mayo in Jun’s imagination is wearing a school swimsuit.
- Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: Most of the time. She has some successes, both for and against the protagonist's side.
- Informed Ability: Kokoro is said to be a competent martial artist, but basically the only time she’s ever won is when the even more arrogant Kosugi attacks her.
- Insane Troll Logic: In her route, she tries to justify her feelings for Yamato and spending time with him. She concludes if he has feelings for her, he must want to spend time with her. So to allow him spend time with her, she decides to hire him as her personal butler.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She can be pretty nice so long as you resist the urge to pick on her. She also makes it pretty obvious that she has no personal problems with the people she insults and will welcome them with open arms under the right circumstances, such as entering class S or treating her decently.
- The Load: Is this to The S Army during the Kawakami War. Her arrogance and incompetent commands caused the collapse of their west flank, the surrender of her own unit and effectively the mass defection of two entire units to the enemy. Since that's well over a hundred people, Kokoro single-handedly accounted for more S Army losses than any other character.
- Lonely Rich Kid: She wants to have friends, but she's been raised to think of herself as the elite and thus is incredibly condescending even by the standards of class S. She's not really doing it on purpose.
- Noblewoman's Laugh: Does it pretty often as expected of the family she's part of.
- Oblivious to Love: In her route, she has to have a classmate point out Yamato has feelings for her in order to get her to understand. Though the real enforcer of this trope is her not understanding her own.
- Pride: Kokoro has no friends because she acts condescending to everyone. She actually has no idea how to talk to someone as an equal.
- Promoted to Love Interest: In the sequel she gets her own route. However, despite being advertised prominently, the route is short and has no fandisc afterstory like Monshiro, Tsubame or Margit.
- Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: In her route in S, Yamato comments that this is one of her best features, fitting her noble persona.
- Slasher Smile: All she needs is a knife...◊
- Spoiled Brat: Even if she does want to have friends, she tends to be a jerk to everyone.
- Tempting Fate: Claims no one would dare try to pick the pocket of a Fushikawa. Naturally, three pickpockets working together target her soon after, though they don’t actually get away with her wallet.
- Throw the Dog a Bone
- Despite the constant abuse in every other entry in the series, she comes out of Mayucchi's route looking pretty good: She beats Kosugi in a single blow, places just behind Mayucchi in a race, makes some friends and is even on the winning team of the Kuki KOS tournament.
- Further, several A routes have Yamato going out of his way to be nicer to her and she made friends with Mayucchi and Iyo offscreen.
- Took a Level in Kindness: Kokoro's route has some Break the Haughty going on as well as Yamato pulling her aside to tell her that being a jerk is the reason nobody likes her. Apparently, she was just raised to have those mannerisms given that she's actually not that bad. In Koyuki's route she's also inexplicably among the protagonist group despite having very loose ties to the main cast.
- Tsundere: Not a stereotypical one, but while she eventually does warm up in the sequel, she does have problems with affection that takes this form on occasion.
- Underestimating Badassery: When Haou sends Momoyo flying, Kokoro just sneers at the warnings people give her and the rest of the people who try to take her down. How much of a threat could she possibly be? After all, she just reads books all day!
Margit Eberbach
Voiced by: Kei Mizusawa (Japanese) and Caitlynn French (English)
Special forces soldier from the German military, and a subordinate of Chris' father, Lieutenant General Frank Friedrich, who sent Margit to protect her. Though placed in a different class, Margit is highly protective of Chris, whom she views as a little sister. She loves to fight, which sometimes interferes with her duties, but since she's also quite tough she has a pretty good track record. She is also the leader of the Hounds, an all-female team that appears in A-5.
- Aggressive Submissive: She's rather masochistic and enjoys her relationship with Yamato more when he takes the lead.
- And Now for Someone Completely Different: Not unusually for Majikoi, she narrates part of her route. What is a little more unusual is seeing Yamato and Cap from the perspective of the Cool Big Sis type that always gravitates toward him: She clearly finds Cap boring, but ends up wanting to take care of Yamato, much to his initial annoyance.
- Authority Equals Asskicking: She ranks higher than the rest of her Hound unit. Which is shown in posters and supplementary materials.
- Berserk Button: If you so much as look at Chris in a way that's even slightly negative, Margit will make sure you never make that mistake again.
- Blatant Lies: Cap definitely thought Chris' inari was so good that he passed out. Yep. And the only reason she shouldn't make more like that is because the ingredients are too expensive.
- Blood Knight: She really enjoys fighting and despite orders to the contrary it's very hard to for her to restrain herself from fighting Momoyo.
- Casual Kink
- She and Yamato enter a lightly BDSM-based relationship. Mostly dominance and submission stuff. That said, the writers make a point of showing the relationship isn't as unequal as it first looks so that Yamato won't look as amoral and controlling as his father.
- It was toned down a great deal in A-5. She (optionally) still wears the choker, but that was always a personal preference since she likes to think of herself as a hound. Anything more than that is implied to be an occasional thing and generally occurs in the bedroom, not on the school roof at lunch time.

- Clingy Jealous Girl: She doesn't hold it against Yamato directly, but she gets pretty annoyed when Lisa and Sigrun start crushing on him. For the first she accepts that it's entirely Lisa's fault and doesn't even mention it to Yamato, but warns him not to get too close to Sigrun even if he was just trying to be nice.
- Cool Big Sis: She's one of the numerous big sis characters in Majikoi, though mostly just for Chris, who she spoils rotten.
- Covert Pervert: To her surprise more than Yamato's she can be quite lecherous.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: She takes out Youshi in one hit. She uses Momoyo's recovery ability to heal off the damage, but is too exhausted to continue. Rinchuu and Shishin have to jump in to end the fight.
- Curtains Match the Window: Bright red hair with matching bright red eyes.
- Defrosting Ice Queen: Margit is much more mellow in Margit After and not just towards Yamato. Her classmates even pick up on it.
- Europeans Are Kinky: A German who's a bit of a masochist, enjoys a light BDSM relationship with Yamato, and finds... interesting places to have sex with Yamato. Even outside of her route, she's fine with a threesome with Yamato and Chris, which canonically happens in Chris' route.
- Fiery Redhead: Befitting her Blood Knight tendencies, Margit has very bright red hair.
- Flat-Earth Atheist: Played with; as is mentioned by Frank in Chris's route, Margit is an atheist and doesn't believe in a God, despite the fact that her world has people like Ayanokouji Sr. whose powers hail from exorcism techniques and spirituality.
- I Am Not Pretty: Somewhat used to being told she has a good figure or is pretty, but not at all used to be told she's cute or desirable, which tends to make her melt and try to feebly deny it.
- If You Ever Do Anything to Hurt Her...: Margit supports Chris and Yamato together in S, though she makes it clear that if he makes her cry he's going to have to pay for it. Yamato just keeps staring at her while she gets meeker and more embarrassed thanks to remember the infamous threeway scene before reassuring her.
- Improbable Age: She's a decorated veteran with years of experience around the world at age 21. Sure. She isn't even old enough to hold her current rank of Oberleutnantnote , which has a minimum age of 25.
- Insecure Love Interest: Among other concerns, Margit thinks Yamato can do better than her.
- Love-Obstructing Parents: Subverted. Chris' father treats Margit like his daughter and she interacts with Chris like her doting older sister, but while he gets in the way of Chris' romance in the original he thinks highly enough of Yamato that he is willing to accept him dating Margit. However, he's largely unaware of how, shall we say, bold Yamato is and calls to recommend they begin with holding hands while they're in the middle of some kinky stuff.
- Making Love in All the Wrong Places: On the roof, in the kitchen (though cut short), in Chris' room while she's asleep...
- Not So Above It All: Margit is often a little part from all the antics, but when Lee, Yamato and Yoshitsune start up a silly sengoku magistrate role playing session while on a field trip she happily joins in as one of the magistrate’s subordinates. Apparently, she’s used to doing this kind of stuff with Chris.
- Optional Sexual Encounter: If you have enough relationship points you can get a threesome scene with Margit in Chris' route. This is shown to be canon in Chris' afterstory as well.
- Promoted to Love Interest: In the sequel she gets a mini route that is mostly composed of sex scenes. Her route in A-5 has an actual story, though, involving Yamato meeting the other Hounds and eventually joining them in the German military.
- Serious Business: Margit not only takes off her power limiter eye patch to match Wanko's speed at cleaning plums, she ends up going so fast that she ruptures some capillaries in her arms.
- Statuesque Stunner: Kawakami academy doesn't even stock swimsuits in Margit's size.
- Unknown Rival: She starts wanting to compete with Benkei in A-1, but Benkei finds rivalry too troublesome to bother with. After frequent refusals to duel, Benkei eventually challenges Margit herself and loses because she's too upset about being separated from Yoshitsune. They have a rematch not long after and Benkei stomps her. Afterward, it's made clear that both of them basically lost due to not fighting at their best, so they resolve to have a third match. So, proper rivals in the end. Eventually.
- Violently Protective Girlfriend: She curbstomps the two mercenaries who kidnapped Yamato near the end of her route in S.
- Willfully Weak: Wears her Eyepatch of Power as a self-inflicted disadvantage. Otherwise, fights are too easy. Doubles as I Am Not Left-Handed when she takes it off.
Other Students
Iyo Oowada
Voiced by: Mahiro Chiaki (Japanese)
A freshman, Iyo is Mayucchi's first friend outside the Kazama family. She is a major baseball fan. While she does not seem to appear outside of Mayucchi's route, her existence is occasionally briefly alluded to, showing that she makes friend with Mayucchi regardless of Yamato's assistance.
- All of the Other Reindeer: She was bullied before for having a strong passion for baseball.
- Comically Missing the Point: Iyo’s only reaction to a bunch of robot guards being brought in by Hideo is that their flight capabilities would make them excellent outfielders.
- Covert Pervert: Let's just say whenever she's not thinking about baseball or the Bays, she has certain fixation on things, especially with Yamato.
- Fan of Underdog: She likes the Bays because they never do very well. She also decides to secretly help out Haou's team a little after they have a terrible first showing.
- Neutral Female: She's pretty athletic, but she's not a fighter at all.
- Promoted to Love Interest: She has a mini route in S, though it's very short.
- Satellite Character: She's Mayucchi's first friend and little else.
Kosugi Musashi
Voiced by: Noriko Rikimaru (Japanese)
A brash and arrogant first year student, Kosugi tries to pick fights and intends to be the strongest student in the school. She casually dismisses Yukie's perceived ability, which is really all you need to know about her ability to evaluate her own competence relative to others.
- Alpha Bitch: In Mayucchi's route she can be seen elevating her own position by abusing Iyo until Mayucchi steps in.
- Big Bad Wannabe: She's not completely incompetent, but she's so far out of her league that she can't even realize how insignificant she really is. After being OHKO'd by Mayucchi and getting out of hospital, she still thinks she has a shot if she just avoids making Mayucchi mad. Even the narration makes fun of her.
- Butt-Monkey: She is not taken seriously by the story at all. Whenever she gets too full of herself, the story tosses abuse on her to cut her back down to size.
- Easily Forgiven: Mayucchi still wants to be her friend in her after story.
- In-Series Nickname: Monshiro starts calling her Musakosu. Hume and the other servants begin doing it sarcastically as well.
- Jerkass: She tends to be pretty horrible to everyone.
- Limited Wardrobe: Apparently wearing bloomers even in the classroom during the third semester.
- Not in This for Your Revolution: Assists during the final battle of Agave. Not because she particularly wants to help people, but because she thinks it’ll help her become student council president.
- Overshadowed by Awesome: She's a solid fighter, but that means next to nothing compared to literally every other character.
- Professional Butt-Kisser: If she is taken down a peg by another person, she will ingratiate herself to them in order to curry favour. Sometimes, she plots her revenge against said person, but this is never realized due to her Butt-Monkey status. Her complete failure at subtlety has Monshiro catching on in seconds and telling her that if you're trying to butter someone up you need to be less obvious about it.
- Promoted to Love Interest: Oddly enough, she gets a route in 'S'. Though it's very short and is basically nothing but a long gag about the player making weird decisions.
- Selective Obliviousness: When Mayucchi tries to ask her to be her friend, she decides that she really means being her rival and picks a fight. Flattened in seconds once again.
- Too Dumb to Live: She picked a fight with Yukie after the KOS 2009 tournament which Yukie's team won. Not to mention the fact that Yukie showed being fully capable of matching Shakadou blow for blow, sword or no sword.
- Tsundere: She's normally just a jerkass, but when Monshiro helps her learn to skate while the rest of the class teased her she actually genuinely thanks her and then double takes in her head, refusing to admit to herself that she's genuinely grateful.
- Underestimating Badassery
- She completely fails to realize that not only is Mayucchi much stronger than she is but probably the second strongest student in the entire school behind only Momoyo.
- Kosugi has the nerve to sneer at Momoyo while in the school, where Momoyo could easily (and does) overhear her. Further, she makes it clear that she's gunning for Yamato in the same scene. Momoyo does not approve. Momoyo's presence seconds later makes it clear that she was just bragging: Even she knows she can't hope to come close to Momoyo. Others think that love has made her weaker when it's actually the opposite
- Verbal Tic: She's fond of using the word "premium" to describe herself or her abilities.
Yumiko Yaba
Voiced by: Hatsumi Takada
The head of the archery club. An extremely serious and stern girl with a secret desire to be cute and girly.
- Cool Teacher: She becomes a popular teacher at Kawakami academy in Azumi's route.
- Love Potion: Yumiko accidentally adds a mushroom Momoyo gave her to a lunch she prepared. It works as a love potion, lust potion and apparently gives Yamato enhanced physical strength.
- Meaningful Name: Yaba Yumiko, the head of the archery club, has a name that actually translates to 'Archery Ground Bow Child.'
- Promoted to Love Interest: In a very obvious joke scenario. It actually follows from the hermit ending. You know, the bad ending that can only result from ignoring every single heroine and studying at home and playing with hermit crabs until Yamato falls in love with them.
- Secret Ingredient: Yumiko makes lunch for Yamato in the Hermit After story to try to return him to normal. Thanks to mixing in a mushroom provided by Momoyo, he goes berserk and jumps Yumiko.
- Stalker with a Crush: Towards Touma, surprisingly.
- The Stoic: On the surface, she seems to be a well controlled, serious girl. Underneath that she's pretty cheerful and cutesy, but somehow, aside from the archery club members, the only one who notices is Kyougoku even years later.
- Sugar-and-Ice Personality: This aspect of her character seems to be why Kyougoku likes her. Most of the third years are boring, but for no fathomable reason she acts like she's a cool stoic character when she's actually just a kind of goofy flirt inside.
- Verbal Tic: "De sourou", but only in her "serious" façade.
Tsubame Matsunaga
Voiced by: Juri Nagatsuma
Tsubame is one of the new characters introduced in S and was brought in by Hume in order to be a challenger that could defeat Momoyo. While she does have impressive physical ability, it's obvious that her real strength lies in manipulation and tactics. She enjoys teasing Yamato.
- Affectionate Nickname: She calls Yamato "Bed Yakuza" after they have sex near the end of "Yamato takes the Lead" section of her route.
- Asskicking Leads to Leadership: Tsubame declares all her orders are absolute. If anyone has a problem with that, they can fight her for command. However, in practice, it's more like 'Follow all my orders absolutely, or I'm not giving any.' Though her army during the Kawakami war games is very powerful, she does nothing but defend the flag so that her team loses and admits they need her guidance. Later, her top down strategy hits a brief snag when the battle terrain moves and she can no longer directly observe what's going on, netting another loss.
- Calling Your Attacks: When she's fighting seriously, she does so with the help of a small electronic device that calls out what it's doing each time. Loudly declaring RECOVERY kind of made it hard to get a sneak attack in.
- Combat Pragmatist
- Uses a variety of weapons, switching for the need. Her tactics can also be pretty dirty, but she's rather upfront about that.
- When forced to fight against Haou, a far superior foe, she indirectly saps her will to fight the night before the battle and immediately beforehand draws her out to an isolated location so that even if she loses Haou won't get back to the battle in time, or so Haou thinks. It's a bit more complicated.
- Cool Big Sis: She begins edging into Momoyo's territory here in order to piss her off and make the upcoming fight easier. She continues to do this in the "Tsubame takes the lead" route where she outright calls herself Yamato's "Onee-san".
- Taken even further in her after route in A-3 where she declares that she is now Yamato's official big sister.
- Daddy's Girl: Her Bumbling Dad is the only parental figure present as her mom left their family when her dad gambled away their savings on the stock market. He's been doing his best to atone for that mistake and most of the pair's efforts is to convince their mom/wife to return.
- Didn't Think This Through: Baited by the promise of a personal reward from Marple in A-2, she not only expends her one shot from the Hiragumo Kill Sat to no effect on Haou, but she also seriously pisses her off and has to hide behind Kuki guards to avoid getting crushed in retaliation.
- Distaff Counterpart: To Yamato.
- Easily Forgiven: In the 'Yamato Takes the Lead' branch of her route she falls for a Kuki trick and tries to steal company secrets. She's detected immediately and chased down, but thanks to Yamato all she gets is a light punishment from Hume and a Kuki contract. Industrial espionage isn't really that big of a deal, apparently, though it helps that the Kuki corporation basically tricked her into trying so they could get that contract.
- Greed: The vice she learns to overcome in the later parts of her route.
- Indirect Kiss: Baits Yamato into one at the beginning of Seiso's route. His power to attract older women is fearsome indeed.
- I Shall Taunt You
- Used as part of her Combat Pragmatist strategy. She intentionally pisses Momoyo off to make her fight more sloppily than normal.
- Given the massive glaring weak point that is Haou's pride, Tsubame outright says that she can't take Haou in the castle but would definitely be able to beat her on more favorable ground. Blah blah, you don't have the guts etc. Haou knows she's taking the bait, but doesn't really care since it shouldn't really matter.
- Karma Houdini: She betrays Yamato's trust in order to get crucial information to beat up his older sister and still has the nerve to ask him out afterward anyway. What's more, he agrees even if he initially says no.
- Love Confession: Confesses to Yamato after beating Momoyo. Your response changes how the following story plays out: If you try to turn her down, she's heartbroken and Yamato admits that he does like her, so they start going out anyway, but with Yamato having more control. If you accept, Tsubame is in control.
- Male Gaze: Yamato takes a good long look at her backside in her route if you choose not to say anything about her casual clothes.
- Manipulative Bastard: She gets information from Yamato and Momoyo in order to exploit all of Momoyo's weaknesses. Though, she ends up falling for Yamato since she quickly grows to enjoy the time she spends with him.
- Master of None: While using a large variety of weapons, it's noted that she's not as good with a naginata as Wanko or a rapier as Chris.
- Modesty Shorts: Subverted. Tsubame is wearing bloomers rather than normal underwear, but Yamato finds that perfectly acceptable and she ends up embarrassed anyway.
- Oh, Crap!
- In most routes Monshiro never retracts the request for Tsubame to beat Momoyo, so she's still trying to find her weaknesses. In Homura's route Nabeshima successfully gets through to Momoyo on the need to start a fight seriously and not to rely on overwhelming power. You can practically hear Tsubame's inner cursing just by looking at her face.
- In A-2 she snipes Haou in midair after running from a proper fight earlier. Haou is pissed and Tsubame is absolutely terrified. Fortunately, when Haou gets back to Kawakami to take her out, the clones, Hume, Tesshin, Lu and Claudio are all there to intercept her. However, for the rest of the route, Tsubame is quite uncomfortable in her presence.
- Product Placement
- Is the spokesperson for Matsunaga Natto; her family's line of natto related food products. When she appears, she is usually handing out free samples to people, or plopping some in their food, regardless of if they have given permission. Thankfully, the natto is always well received.
- During a death feigning comment, she laments that she could not eat Matsunaga natto, now on sale, one last time. Her death speech loses her points, however, for getting repetitive. What a strict judge. Maybe?
- So Last Season: Blasts Haou with Hiragumo in A-2, but it just pisses her off because Haou wasn't injured enough for it to be a finishing blow. What's worse is that this leaves her with no practical way to take down Momoyo like she was hired to do, so she agrees to work in the war games as a promotional stunt.
- The Starscream: Played with in the "Yamato Takes the Lead" branch of her route. From the very minute they started their relationship she plans to usurp Yamato's position as the dominant one.
- Played with to a lesser degree in the "Tsubame Takes the Lead" branch of her route and her afterstory in A-3, where she gradually usurps Momoyo's role as Yamato's "onee-san" in the former and eventually openly proclaims it in the latter.
- Strategy Versus Tactics: As Momoyo correctly points out, Tsubame makes little effort in A-2 to actually secure victory in her first match, giving no commands and refusing to move away from flag defense. She's focused on her long term goal of winning the entire set of games and not just the first match, so she lets her rather wild troops run free for the first match only for them to get completely overwhelmed by the Kuki army. Afterward, they have to accept that they do need her rather than her forcing them to follow her commands from the beginning, which would have caused a lot of resentment.
- Surprisingly Creepy Moment: When she and Yamato go to the beach and Tsubame builds a sand castle, she goes from having this◊ cheerful expression, to one◊ that comes damn close to being a Slasher Smile.
- The Tease: She seems to enjoy flirting with Yamato a lot, though with more of a trickster attitude than Miyako's blatant lust or Momoyo's possessiveness.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Natto. She practically puts it in everything. Including a birthday cake to Yamato in "Birthday mode".
- Verbal Tic: Tsubame tosses a playful N onto the end of many of her Yo syllables.
- Wall Run: Apparently, running up a wall instead of going through the gate is a shortcut. Somehow.
Hikoichi Kyougoku
Voiced by: Hikaru Midorikawa
Hikoichi is a third year and classmate of Momoyo's. He is the last of the "Elegante Quattro", the four most popular boys in school to be introduced. He is extremely composed, intelligent, and can use kotodamas to influence peoples minds, making him a formidable opponent.
- Ascended Extra: He was always said to have existed, though we don't even learn his name in the first game. As the series continues he has become increasingly more prominent.
- Big Brother Instinct: He seems to be pretty protective of Seiso. If Momoyo tries flirting with her too much he'll even scare her away by talking about the supernatural.
- Big Man on Campus: He's a third year, considered one of the most attractive guys in school and viewed as an equal by Momoyo.
- Chick Magnet: Comes with being a part of the Elegante Quattro.
- The Gadfly: Contrasting his stoic attitude, teasing Momoyo seems to amuse him.
- Morality Pet: To Haou.
- Nice Guy: When Seiso worries about her identity as a clone, everyone tells her that it doesn't matter because Seiso is Seiso. Turns out that when she's unveiled as Xiang Yu/Kouu the only one who really felt that way absolutely was Kyougoku, who treats her exactly the same as before.
- Non-Action Guy: His specialty is manipulation, making him more along the lines of Yamato and Touma.
- Platonic Life-Partners: Viewed by Haou as an older brother figure, who likens him to Xiang Yu’s uncle, Xiang Liang. It’s not a bad comparison, but let’s hope nothing ever happens to him. That ended badly for a lot of people last time.
- Satellite Character: In S and A-2, he basically exists as a Morality Pet for Haou.
- Ship Tease: He gets some with Seiso, but in the end he's more of a big brother figure.
- The Smart Guy: He's the top of his class and one of the only guys capable of out-planning Yamato.
- Squishy Wizard: He's incredibly intelligent and his kotodamas allow for him to control other people, but he is quite possibly the weakest character in the entire series. He can't even break a sand castle.
- When the cast's stats are given in the manga, he has insanely high stats, ranging from 80 to 100 (the average is 50 for most fighters) in everything except strength, in which he gets a 5! (For reference, even Mayo gets a 10 in that stat!)
- Status Buff: He can cast kotodamas that make people faster, more passionate or ignore pain.
- The Stoic
Nanjou Michelle Torako
Voiced by: Tomoe Tamiyasu
- Accent On The Wrong Syllable: Every word she speaks is stressed very oddly or sometimes stressed the same in every syllable.
- Ambiguously Brown: Played with; her skin-tone, Gratuitous English, Indian headdress and proclamations of being one with nature all imply a Native-American heritage (or at least the Hollywood Natives version of one), but she's rarely seen and nobody comments on it the times she is seen, so it's never addressed, much less confirmed.
- Ascended Extra: Gained a portrait in S, but not much else.
- Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Student council president. Captain of the ropes club. Does not seem to grasp the Japanese language.
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": She's usually only referred to as the student council president or the koppou captain. Yamato's guess is that most of the students don't actually know her name either.
- Gratuitous English: She often slips into not just English, but word salad English.
- Innocent Blue Eyes: Gigantic blue eyes and gigantic dopey smile. She may be weird, but she's very nice.
- Perpetual Smiler: Always sporting a huge, goofy smile.
- Strange-Syntax Speaker: She speaks entirely in katakana or Gratuitous English. In Takae's route she shows up and and speaks halfway normally, which she says is because she's surrounded by nature. Of course, at the same time she also speaks Japanese a few times using English homonyms, which is as absurd as it sounds.
- Student Council President: How she got the position is anyone's guess. She doesn't seem like she'd campaign for it and she baffles everyone around her.

Unexpected Character: A plane crashes in the desert. The survivors are all uninjured, but unable to call for help or find their way. Supplies are running low. All seems lost. Suddenly, over the horizon...Torako: Ha Ha Ha! My name Torako! Hello! Wow! - Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Nobody seems to mind Torako’s full headdress.
- Word-Salad Humor: Setting aside the hulk speak and apparent inability to normally use kanji, much of what she says still makes no sense.
Aki Mogami
Voiced by: Madoka Yonezawa
A third year girl who was definitely here all along and not introduced until A-5. She seems to do most of the actual work that Torako is supposed to do. She's also a clone of Minamoto-no-Yoshinaka, though she isn't part of the Bushido plan and somehow Kuki never realized that she even existed until her adoptive father announced who she was.
- Gender Flip: Behold, Minamoto-no-Yoshinaka, also a girl for no clear reason! Once again, don't worry about it.
- Hidden Badass: She's been hiding her abilities up until the beginning of Yoshitsune's route. Well, from the other characters anyway given that she's only newly introduced at this point.
- Last Episode, New Character: Aki shows up for one route in the last fandisk. She even gets her own ending.
- The Man Behind the Man: While Torako is the student council president, Aki is the one who apparently does most of the real work.
- Never Gets Drunk: Aki gets into a drinking contest and while it ends in a tie after they run out of Definitely Not Alcohol, Benkei's face was flushed by the end while Aki didn't seem noticeably affected. However, she and Benkei both pass out immediately after, so you could probably consider it a subversion.
- Promoted to Love Interest: She has a mini-route in the A+ fandisk.
- Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: Aki has hair that's darker than the other characters and skin that's a bit paler, making quite the contrast. She almost looks like a character from another VN.
- Remember the New Guy?: You remember Aki, right? She's totally been here the whole time.
- The Rival: Aki largely exists to be Yoshitsune's rival. In universe, even. Their rivalry focuses on rather trivial things early on.
- Romantic Runner-Up: She expresses interest in Yamato early on and even begins flirting with him. However, this is the Yoshitsune route so while she does have her own ending, it's not the true ending. Interestingly enough, she actually has a more developed relationship with Yamato than Yoshitsune does, who largely rehashes her Benkei route development before confessing out of the blue with little buildup.
- Satellite Character: She was literally born to be Yoshitsune's rival. There's a bit of fluff about how she's basically the real student council president, but the story never cared about such a thing before anyway.
- The Tease: She loves flirting with Yamato, and even does it right in front of Yoshitsune after the latter and Yamato have begun going out. Yoshitsune's too nice to really do anything about it.
Teachers and Staff
Tesshin Kawakami
Voiced by: Masaaki Tsukada (Japanese, Original Visual Novel), Binbin Takaoka (Japanese, Anime/Majikoi S!/Majikoi A-1) and John Swasey (English)
Head of the Kawakami Temple, Principal of the Kawakami Academy, master of Kawakami-Ryu, and Momoyo's grandfather. He is the supreme arbiter of disputes and duels in the academy when they arise, and has a lot of influence in the martial arts world as the teacher of Momoyo, 'The God of Battle'.
- Big Good: More or less.
- Captain Ersatz: Bears more than a passing resemblance to Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto. Heck, they even got Masaaki Tsukada, his voice actor to come across in the original Majikoi.
- Cool Old Guy: He, in spite of his age, is still one of the most powerful martial artists in the world, being one of the few people in the setting that are able to go toe-to-toe with Momoyo in a straight up fight.
- Divided We Fall: Tesshin is tricked into thinking Momoyo used complete overkill on mooks when she actually just beat them up like usual. Rather than bother listening to her, he seals her power for most of the Agave route. She could have broken out of it, but it would have killed him. Maybe that's a hint that she's not just a raging Blood Knight, hm?
- Eyes Always Shut: Part of his character design, carried over from who he's based on.
- Lovable Sex Maniac: Like many older anime men before him, his love of the female form has not waned with age. He especially has an obsession with bloomers and swimsuits. He's good at keeping it under-wraps... most of the time.
- Old Master: When he is not attending to his duties at the academy, he's training Momoyo, Kazuko and the numerous monks that reside at the Kawakami Temple.
- Power Perversion Potential: Lu has to lecture him not to use secret techniques for perverse purposes during the school trip to France.
- Really 700 Years Old: It’s said that Tesshin was alive during the Sino-Japanese war, so a curious Yamato asks him how old he is. Tesshin doesn’t seem to hear him, but he refers to ‘Perry-kun,’ no doubt referring to the American officer that opened Japan to trade in the 1800s.
- School of Hard Knocks: Runs one, and encourages the students to duel each other in order to better themselves.
- The Worf Barrage: Bishamonten is supposed to be a fight finisher, but Momoyo heals it off when it's used on her and Haou tanks it in Koyuki route. Effective uses: Backstory of Shakadou.
- Worf Had the Flu: He's beaten by Haou at the beginning of S' true route, but while she might well have won anyway given that she didn't have to struggle too much, he started the fight tired after failing to pace himself while dealing with Ryouzanpaku mooks.
- Worthy Opponent: In Koyuki route, Haou offers to make Tesshin her first bodyguard.
Umeko Kojima
Voiced by: Masako Katsuki (Japanese)
The homeroom teacher of class 2-F, who teaches World History. She carries a whip at all times and is perfectly willing to use it on students. She gets away with it being his by a hot teacher apparently awakens the target's masochistic side. She is also quite a strong fighter.
- All Work vs. All Play: The all work to Usami's all play.
- Attack Hello: When trying to get Momoyo's attention, Umeko uses her whip. Blocking it without even noticing, Momoyo continues to stare dreamily at Yamato, prompting an appeal to Momoyo's greed which also fails. She gives up.
- Badass Teacher: She's more than skilled with her whip.
- Changing Clothes Is a Free Action: Seen on the rooftop wearing the traditional archer’s hakama, then descends to the grounds wearing her normal outfit.
- Has a Type: She doesn't get into specifics about what her type is, but unfortunately for Usami he is not it in any respect whatsoever.
- Hot Teacher: Her looks mean that the students never complain about her despite her use of the whip on them. They get turned on instead.
- Ice Queen: She's strict pretty much 24/7 and will whip anyone who questions her.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She cares about her student's education, but generally hides it behind her cold attitude and whip.
- Old Maid: She's 28 and has never had a real boyfriend. During her sub route, she's extremely upset to realize that she's reached the age where suitors reject her rather than the opposite even when she had planned as much.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red oni to Usami's blue.
- Sadist Teacher: She whips her students on a regular basis.
- Spin to Deflect Stuff: Spins her whip around and knocks down bullets.
- Stern Teacher: Umeko can be quite strict, but she really does want the best for her students.
- Whip of Dominance: She is a major Stern Teacher who uses an actual whip in class for disciplinary purposes, cracking her whip whenever she wants to get attention or intimidate someone in particular. Comically, many of the male students find her incredibly attractive in large thanks to this, as her treatment has "awakened" their dormant masochist tendencies.
Kyojin Usami
Voiced by: Joji Nakata (Japanese)
Usami is the second major teacher at the school and has quite the air of a deadbeat. However, he gives very practical, down to earth advice and is surprisingly strong. He is apparently in love with his fellow teacher Umeko, though he never makes any progress despite her search for a proper boyfriend.
- Abhorrent Admirer: Umeko doesn't hate him, but she finds him entirely unsuitable as a suitor.
- All Work vs. All Play: The all play to Umeko's all work.
- Badass Teacher: Although his students hardly think so.
- Big Brother Mentor: Serves as one to Yamato, though Yamato'd never admit it.
- Brilliant, but Lazy: He has plenty of talent, he just never utilizes it because it takes too much effort.
- Butt-Monkey: Doesn't get much respect from his students or his peers.
- The Chessmaster: He beats Yamato in a game of chess if that tells you anything.
- Yamato does however succeed in beating him at shogi later on.
- Combat Pragmatist: He's quite good in a fight, but favors the use of dirty tactics.
- Cool Old Guy: He wants to be seen as one and largely succeeds, but only from a meta perspective. His students only take him seriously about half of the time.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: He acts like a lazy bum... No, he is a lazy bum, but he was also an underworld fighting master and has the skills to back it up.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Alluded to several times, though it's yet to be fully explained. We at least know that he used to be an orphan living off the streets.
- Dogged Nice Guy: Pursues Umeko, but she finds him entirely unsuitable even though she's getting a little desperate.
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Everyone calls him Beard-Sensei.
- Foil: He plays off of Yamato's lazy side, a side that would get very little exposure without him or Benkei around.
- Hopeless Suitor: Even more so than Hideo Kuki he has no chance at all. Umeko finds him to be entirely unsuitable. Gates calculates his chances as equal to 0%. Not one in a thousand, a million, or even a trillion. Zero.
- Hope Spot: In A-4 he manages to go drinking with Umeko, has a decent conversation with her and convinces her he's serious about her... so she seriously and formally turns him down.
- Intergenerational Friendship: He and Yamato are actually quite close due to their similar personalities. Yamato frequently seeks him out for advice in times of need.
- Parental Substitute: Usami and Gen are basically father and son, though both are orphans.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue oni to Umeko's red.
- The Slacker: Will take any excuse he can get to avoid doing work.
- Suspiciously Specific Denial: Tarot is interesting on its own and definitely not something he learned to make small talk with Kojima about.
- Worf Had the Flu: Loses a fight to Ryuuhei despite winning the whole match because his hips randomly start to hurt. Justifiable, given his older age and how out-of-practice he is - in fact, that he gave Ryuuhei a run for his money at all is a testament to both his skill and a hint to how good he must have been in his prime.
Lu Yi
Voiced by: Hiroya Ishimaru (Japanese)
Lu is the assistant master at the Kawakami temple as well as the PE teacher at the academy. He's very kind and easy going and is especially fond of Kazuko, contrasting how Shakadou favored Momoyo.
- Beware the Nice Ones: He's one of the nicest characters in the entire cast, but when Angel mouths off to him he sends her flying into the sky with a special attack. She's unhurt but absolutely terrified. Further, when it became clear that Shakadou had violated the teachings of Kawakami temple even after leaving Lu was almost looking forward to purging him to stop his rampage.
- Calling Your Attacks: He likes inventing new moves, but seems to have trouble coming up with names for them. So sometimes he just sits around yelling out attack names to see if they seem appropriate for the new move he made.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: At the end of Agave he takes out Shakadou in approximately four seconds.
- Drunken Master: The one time he beat Shakadou in a fight was the one time he used his trump card, alcohol. It's not clear if it actually made him stronger, but it made Shakadou lose focus because he got angry at Lu's odd movements.
- Hard Work Hardly Works: Averted: You can't reach his position without some talent, but he still has to work much harder than the likes of geniuses like Shakadou or Momoyo. He also kept working at it while Shakadou stayed at the same level as always and curbstomped him during the rematch.
- Jerkass Realization: Though he's one of the nicest people in the cast, he does have a bias against fighters like Momoyo and Shakadou who actually enjoy fighting for its own sake. However, during Agave he's hit twice with the realization that he's being narrowminded. First, he assumes that Momoyo would definitely inflict devastating injuries on someone that couldn't even fight back with her name only being cleared when she's mauled as a result of being unable to defend herself against the true assailant, Shakadou. Second, after beating Shakadou he's gained enough perspective to ask why he took in students and nurtured their growth even after being kicked out of the temple. The response is simply that Shakadou considers himself a teacher and while Kawakami Academy wouldn't accept such dark characters as the Itagakis, Shakadou could not bear to let such talent be wasted.
- Kill Steal: After several evasive fight threads between Mayucchi and Shakadou, Lu interrupts their final confrontation and stomps Shakadou. Hope you weren't looking forward to those two finally getting a match.
- Nice Guy: He's rather gentle and Shakadou considers him to represent the light side of martial arts to his own darkness. Of course, his dislike of violence seems to extend to Momoyo as a result, which Wanko calls him out for and nearly gets Momoyo killed in Agave.
- Older Than They Look: He's actually 43.
- The Rival: To Shakadou. The two were both assistant masters, but Shakadou was booted out. Shakadou was always the stronger one if Lu was sober but he didn't keep up his training after leaving and gets the crap kicked out of him as a result. Shakadou returns the favor to a possessed Lu in S.
- Smoldering Shoes: Knocked right out of his shoes and socks by Shakadou at the end of Koyuki route.
- Virgin-Shaming: Shakadou and Usami laugh at Lu for having no real experience after the test of courage in Momoyo's after story. That said, Lu is significantly more popular than either.
- The Worf Effect: After fighting evenly with all three Ryouzanpaku girls, Lu is then blindsided by Haou and taken out instantly.
Maro Ayanokouji
Voiced by: Daisuke Ono (Japanese)
The... strange Japanese History teacher who has an obsession with nobility. Everyone finds him to be incredibly creepy.
- Arc Villain: In Miyako and Sayaka's route.
- Born in the Wrong Century: He'd much prefer to live in the Heian era.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: When he's in trouble he can wield a katana like a champ.
- Gonk: Even apart from the fact that his looks wouldn't be that great anyway given that he's somewhat overweight and has puffy features, he also dresses himself in the Heian style, which among other things includes painting your face white and frequently blackening your teeth.
- Human Shield: Placed at the midway point of a cavalry race holding a chain sickle with the rules being that whoever reaches him gets access to the weapon. Wanko grabs the sickle and when Koyuki gets there she grabs him instead, getting praised for ‘flexible thinking.’
- Jerkass: He's rude, self centered and much more willing to abuse his family's position to hurt people, which is something even Kokoro won't do. Furthermore, despite teaching history he only teaches about the Heian period because he hates every other part of Japanese history. He's not impossible for Yamato to get along with, but that doesn't mean much.
- Noblewoman's Laugh: Despite being a man.
- Punny Name: "Maro" (麿) is an archaic first-person pronoun and a combination of his given name's kanji characters (麻呂).
- Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: In Miyako's route he starts hurting almost everyone he comes across while boasting about his powerful family to avoid punishment. Subverted later when Kazama has enough of his crap and hits him for it. Maro's family turns out to not condone his behavoir so they didn't take any action against Kazama.
- Third-Person Person: Maro always refers to himself as Maro.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: He becomes obsessed with punishing students in Miyako's route and has Sayaka kidnapped in Sayaka's route.
