    A-D
  • Above Good and Evil: She considers herself an Apex, basically The Social Darwinist equivalent of The Paragon, which means she's above everything, including laws and consequences. Defy her notion of this at your own risk. She eventually ditches this mindset after her Train trip.
  • Action Girl: While allegedly just a Potions track student, which doesn't suggest much combat experience, Boscha is not only capable to get her hands dirty, but completely willing to do it if she has no other choice.
  • Achilles' Heel:
    • Her Third Eye, which apparently comes from the Salamander, is all but stated to be the source of most of her insane power. When Lucy rips it off, Boscha's left with nothing but her bare strength to fight back against Chloe and Lexi.
    • The rewrite adds another one: if she gets sufficiently wet, she can't use her fire magic, which is her main method of attack.
  • Achievements in Ignorance: When Boscha beat the crap out of the Apex team at Mana Academy, she was only trying to vent and get revenge for them failing to live up to her expectations of an Apex. However, this fight eventually causes a chain reaction that leads to the Apex effectively disbanding, with only six or so members left.
  • Adaptational Badass: Canon Boscha, while a prodigy at Grudgby, wasn't implied to be any stronger than the average witch. This Boscha is basically a Person of Mass Destruction that can send even The Apex to ruins without even trying.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
    • In a bizarre way. In the original series, Boscha is a sociopathic bully whose social darwinist tendencies act more like a weak excuse to justify her bullying nature. In this story, she's a legitimate social darwinist who does the things she does because she wants people to get stronger, and her bullying attitude is just one way to do it.
    • In a smaller note, Boscha and Luz don't really see eye-to-eye in canon, and Boscha sees everybody else as beneath her. This Boscha is at least cordial enough to talk to Luz without incinerating her, and while she does see everybody as beneath her, she also wants them to grow stronger.
    • A flashback showing Amity and Boscha in their youth further paints her as this: not only does she teach Amity how to cast her own fire and gets along with her, but she extends that kindness to Willow, even healing her flower without being asked to do it, and encouraging her to play with her and Amity before Odalia interfered.
  • Adaptation Personality Change:
    • Downplayed. While Boscha acts the same as she does in the show, her reason is different; rather than being The Bully who loves crushing people under her feet, she's an odd variation of The Social Darwinist who honestly believes that what she's doing is going to help people get stronger.
    • This eventually gets Played for Drama: Boscha originally wasn't anything like her brutal present self, but several factors, some which were beyond her control, drove her to become the monster she is today.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • She and Luz don't see eye-to-eye in canon, and the one time they do, it's because she's trying to get Boscha to leave Willow alone. In here, they at least act civil when they meet in Chapter 1.
    • She and Skara are part of the same posse in canon, but they don't appear to be particularly close. In here, they're friends, with Skara in particular being Boscha's Only Friend.
    • In canon, Willow's basically Boscha's personal bullying victim, and the two don't get along in general. In here, not only does she actually think Willow's a strong witch (not that she'd ever say it), but she and Willow got along just fine when they were children.
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: In canon, there's no indication Boscha can do any magic besides fire magic. This story gives her the additional power of Psychometry, both to justify her third eye and see into Lapis' memories.
  • Adaptational Villainy: For as bad as Boscha was in canon, she's even worse here. Case in point, she doesn't just beat the future Zenith Fantasy; she leaves them traumatized and on death's door, the only reason she didn't kill them was because she felt they weren't worth it.
  • Adaptational Wimp: The rewrite of the Mana Academy Car gives her a Logical Weakness to water (more specifically, getting wet), which she didn't have in the original story.
    • She also fares worse at the start of her fight with Zenith Fantasy and the Red Lotus Trio in Chapter 13's rewrite: not only do they use her above weakness, but they manage to get a few hits in before Lucy rips off her third eye.
  • Always a Bigger Fish: The Apex have been terrorizing the Infinity Train for years, and have gathered a reputation for being incredibly cruel. Then Boscha enters the picture and proves to be even worse than them.
  • Already Done for You: Her accidental dismantling of the Apex accomplishes one of the Red Lotus Trio's primary missions, and indeed, one of Lexi's biggest goals. Needless to say, the latter isn't very happy about it.
  • Always Save the Girl: The reason she wanted to learn Astral Magic was so she could, at least to an extent, return to the Boiling Isles in order to keep Skara safe, as she believes that without her around, she's bound to be bullied for being her friend.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: One of the most notable things about Boscha, besides her cruelty and fire abilities, is the sheer arrogance she carries with herself all the time.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: The most strategic thing she does against the Apex is dodge a couple blasts, and grab Lindsay's throat. The remainder of the fight, she simply launched whatever attack she wants at them. This comes back to bite her when she fights Lartsa, an intangible that doesn't even ''have'' a body to hit.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Once it becomes clear to her that King Lartsa can't be beaten no matter what, she's reduced to begging and pleading for him to teach her Astral Magic, unable to understand why she's not worthy.
  • Ambiguously Bi: She dated Mattholomule back in the Boiling Isles, but Skara says it was done out of pragmatism, and they broke up when we found out about this. She also looks positively smitten with Gwen after the Spin the Bottle game leads to them kissing.
  • Ambition Is Evil: Deep down, she only wants the Boiling Isles to become stronger. However, her methods always prove far too extreme for anybody's liking.
  • Animal-Eared Headband: Dons a lion-eared headband for her outfit at the Cursed Princess Club. Notably, Boscha actually picked them herself.
  • And I Must Scream: The rewrite implies that to some extent, Boscha is aware of how much of a monster she is, but she can't stop herself even though she desperately wants to.
  • Animal Motif: The lion. One of her many titles is "Lion of Cremation", her hypothetical zodiac sign is Leo, otherwise known as the lion of the zodiac, her Golden Super Mode grows her hair to the point it's said to resemble a lion's mane, the dress she wears at the Cursed Princess Club Car has roaring lion heads at the side, with a lion-eared headband to match, and she can summon a lion made out of fire, as proven during her breakdown at the club's tea party.
  • Ascended Extra: Besides a major role in "Wing It Like Witches", Boscha was pretty much a background character in The Owl House. In here, she's the de-facto main character, for better or worse.
  • The Atoner: Becomes once she comes back to life, being more than ready to not only face the consequences of her actions, but also make up to those she hurt. Of course, she knows that not everybody will be willing to forgive her, which is a fact that she accepts.
  • Awful Truth: That her static nature means she's trapped on the Train with no way out. One-One isn't subtle about telling this to her.
  • Ax-Crazy: You bet. Chapter 1 alone has her endangering Hexside just to teach Amity and Willow a lesson, and Chapter 3 is pretty much a demonstration of how demented she can become when she gets angry enough. And then Chapter 6 shows how much crazier she can become when she's at an emotional low, threatening a Suicidal Cosmic Temper Tantrum when the CPC's tea party causes her to freak out.
  • Back from the Dead: Boscha returns to life by shaking hands and merging with Boa.
  • Batman Gambit: She pretty much plays Amity like a fiddle in order to get her to play her part for her prank. The only reason it doesn't go well is because of Principal Bump arriving.
  • The Berserker: When Boscha enters a battle, she tends to rush headfirst and attack everything she sees, and it doesn't take long to piss her off, at which point she abandons all pretense of strategy.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Being The Social Darwinist, even if an odd one, means Boscha doesn't tolerate anybody either lowering themselves or stunting the growth of the Strong and Weak.
    • Also, she sees "Apex" as The Paragon, so if somebody calls themselves that but doesn't follow this idea, like the Apex, she'll be furious.
    • Don't use your allies as pawns, especially to sate your own curiosity.
    • If you really value your life, don't get in the way of something she wants. Boscha's a Determinator with enough firepower to burn all those who stand against her, and she makes no exceptions.
    • Also, don't even imply you're pitying her. That'll just get you a fireball to the face.
    • Never reject anyone's offer to help, whether it's therapy or not.
  • Being Evil Sucks: Boscha's a Card-Carrying Jerkass bordering on Card-Carrying Villain in later chapters, but to say her life sucks would be an understatement: Nobody likes her back at home, her Only Friend is subjected to Revenge by Proxy because of her bullying ways, and when she enters the Train, her brutal upbringing causes her to become a static passenger, leaving her trapped on the Train. To add insult to injury, the rewrite implies that Boscha's aware of the horrible person she is, but she can't do anything about it.
  • Beneath the Mask: Boscha carries herself as an arrogant psychopath who's willing to burn down anybody who dares stand in her way. However, underneath that mask is a girl who's been greatly damaged, mentally and psychologically, because of her brutal upbringing in a Death World inside a Death World.
  • Being Tortured Makes You Evil: According to the Author Notes, after the whole tea party fiasco, Boscha was all but stated to be tortured into becoming the sociopath she is nowadays, with only a shallow mask of sanity hiding the true extent of her madness.
  • Beware the Mind Reader: Boscha has the power of Psychometry, letting her see the memories of someone as long as she makes physical contact. And you can bet that she has enough power to make you suffer if she sees something she doesn't like.
  • Beware the Superman: Boscha's potent fire abilities seem like something that could make her trip across the Infinity Train a little less dangerous, but she instead uses them to wreck havoc across it, to the point that one week later, she's earned not only half a dozen Red Baron titles, but the ire and fear of the Denizens and Passengers alike. It gets to a point that One-One asks Chloe of the Vermillion to put a stop to her reign of terror...who does via incineration
  • Big Entrance: When she reaches the Astral Car, she ditches her hood, jumps down the structure she's standing on, then uses some Explosion Propulsion that topples said structure before landing at the throne room, upon which she exclaims "Take Me to Your Leader" to the nearby Astral beings. They take her to prison instead.
  • Big Ego, Hidden Depths: Boscha's ego is so massive you could compare it to Jupiter, but there's a little more to her than she lets on, like how she's aware that she's not particularly well-liked.
  • Black-and-White Insanity: While her morality lies more along the lines of Blue-and-Orange Morality, her opinion of the Strong and Weak is more straightforward: anything that helps people grow stronger is good, anything that doesn't, or worse, makes them weaker, is bad.
  • Black Magician Girl: Magic user? Check. Hot tempered? Check. Offensive magic? Ohohoho, check.
  • Black Swords Are Better: She uses Kirito's sword during her fight against Lartsa, though since the sword's just a cheap copy, it breaks easily.
  • Blood Knight: While it's hidden behind her bloodthirsty nature, Boscha loves a good fight. In fact, she's actually giddy at the thought of messing things up and going to war at the Astral Car just to fight a thousand soldiers.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: While Boscha's The Social Darwinist, she's a rather odd take on it: she only sees people as either "Strong" or "Weak" with variations between them. If someone she considers "Strong" starts acting in a way that more befits a "Weak" person, like Amity's Gibberish of Love, she'll disapprove. She also hates it when the Strong "lower" themselves to the level of the Weak, because to her, that just gives the Weak no reason to grow stronger, which is also a big no-no for her. This eventually turns out to be because of her Salamander traits.
  • Blue Blood: She's part of the Urodela family, who are the rulers of the Boiling Underworld by virtue of the strongest damn things around.
  • Blunt "Yes": After throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Lartsa and her Ring of Fire dissipating, this is her response when Lartsa asks if she'll keep fighting.
  • Bound and Gagged: After her Freak Out, the Cursed Princess Club are left with no choice but to tie her to a chair so she doesn't try to destroy the Car again.
  • Break the Haughty: When Boscha entered the Train, her ego was intact, if a little troubled, and one week was all it took for her to return to the same egotistical jerk she was back in the Boiling Isles. Then she encounters the Astral Car, and King Lartsa, and she slowly comes apart: Not only does she throw everything at him to no avail, up to and including wasting a Golden Super Mode to try hit something that's not even there, but when Lartsa threatens to kill her to stop her from hurting anybody else and it dawns on Boscha that she may leave the Car empty handed and be unable to help Skara, she begins pleading and begging to be taught.
    • In the end of Chapter 13, she's shown to be on a rampage and near impossible to stop. She then is looking in horror when Chloe — who she dismissed as "Weak" — depowering her and then killing her via Mahamayuri Train.
  • Breath Weapon: She can breath fire, as demonstrated in her fight against Lartsa.
  • Broke the Rating Scale: Her designated number, 16,670, is easily one of the biggest starting numbers in the Train, to the point it doesn't even appear in full initially: it first appears as 16 before jumping into 760 when she shows her number to the Apex.
  • Broken Win/Loss Streak: Before King Lartsa, Boscha went practically undefeated on the Infinity Train, with nobody being able to even tickle her. The astral king is the first entity she meets on the Train that she cannot defeat.
  • Brutal Honesty: While she says it in a letter and not in person, she doesn't mince words when she not only reveals Amity's crush to Luz, but that she has to take the first step since Amity won't do it.
  • Card-Carrying Jerkass: Boscha is not only well aware that she's not the nicest person around, but she relishes every chance she gets to flaunt it, as well as her supposed superiority towards everyone.
  • Calling Your Attacks: "Firebolt!"
  • Came Back Wrong: Downplayed. When Boscha comes back to life and leaves the Train, she only has her soul and survival instinct with her, her innocence being dead and her malicious side kept away from her. However, besides a calmer attitude completely unlike her previous self, she seems to have come back just fine.
  • Complexity Addiction: Downplayed; while her plan to prove Willow's stronger than Amity thinks is easy to follow, it's still needlessly complicated: basically, she kills a Mandragora, uses its heart to make a revival potion, tricks Amity into throwing said potion on the Hexside ground, then has Skara look for Willow while Amity tries to beat the creature.
  • Composite Character: An Expy variant, but she mixes traits of both Cerise siblings in Blossoming Trail: She has Chloe's fire powers, vindictive personality, and unpopular status among her peers, while she has Parker's untreated anger issues and propensity for violence.
  • Couldn't Find a Pen: After putting on a dress at the CPC, she bites her finger and writes a symbol on the dress so it becomes immune to her fire abilities.
  • Combo Platter Powers: Besides her fire powers, Boscha also has some minor psychic abilities like Psychometry.
  • Crucified Hero Shot: Shortly before the end of Chapter 13, when the Heartyard Car is revealed. And she's not alone...
  • Cruel to Be Kind: Basically her M.O.: Boscha is so hardwired into The Social Darwinist mindset that even her sincerest efforts to help someone are mean at best, cruel and sadistic at worst.
  • Cry Laughing: At Chapter 13's rewrite, she begins doing this as she crosses the Despair Event Horizon regarding her and Chloe's static.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Boscha barely flinches in her battle against the Apex and sends them packing.
    • She eventually receives one from King Lartsa, whose Intangibility means that Boscha's main "strategy" fails to do anything.
  • Determinator: If Boscha wants to get or achieve something, she'll stop at nothing to accomplish her goal. She'll even beg and plead if that gets her what she wants.
  • Death by Depower: Chloe depowers her back to her base form before seemingly killing her.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype:
    • Of The Social Darwinist. Boscha's Blue-and-Orange Morality operates on a dog-eats-dog ideology, believing that those who aren't strong enough to survive have no purpose but to feel pain and misery until they get stronger. However, it's made rather clear that this mostly comes from the brutal environment she was born and raised in, the Boiling Underworld, where this ideology is pretty much the norm. And since she's been living in such a hellhole for so long, the ideology has been drilled so hard into her head that she literally cannot fathom a world where this isn't the case.
    • Of the Hated by All. Boscha normally acts like an absolute asshole to those she interacts with, and she can still be a bit jerkish to those she likes. It's eventually revealed this is the result of a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: nobody liked Boscha when she was younger, and never really gave her a good reason as to why. This, alongside the Cold-Blooded Torture she suffered, eventually lead to her no longer caring about what people thought of her and just going all out in the jerkassery.
    • Of the Stealth Mentor. Boscha's mean streak and bullying are her way of motivating people to get better, since she believes that, as an Apex, it's her duty to ensure the Weak become stronger. Unfortunately, the "stealth" part is taken literally, since she's so good at hiding her motivation that most people just see her as a psychopath who's out to hurt everyone physically and mentally.
    • Of someone who believes to be Above Good and Evil. Her Blue-and-Orange Morality and Boiling Underworld ideology left her believing that she was above practically everything, including guilt, sadness, and of course, consequences. However, she's the only one who believes this, and everybody else who interacts with her outside of Skara finds her frustrating because she essentially exists on a different wavelength.
    • Of Beware the Superman. Boscha's Flying Firepower and sadistic prowess lets her wreck havoc across the Train during her first week there. Naturally, she ends up with nobody by her side once she fights Zenith Fantasy and the Red Lotus Trio, and when she kicks the bucket, the Train, barring a few Denizens, celebrate like there's no tomorrow.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Boscha was already growing uneasy when she discovered she was a Static Passenger, but even after One-One made her situation very clear, she still had some resemblance of sanity. It's when she discovers Chloe rejected psychiatric help and is a Static Passenger as well does she lose any hope she had left, with Amelia's arrival and Chloe's decision to protect her driving her over the edge.
  • Denied Food as Punishment: As the Campfire Car reveals, Amirani once denied Boscha food, and tried to force her to eat a critter she had given her instead. And given what Prometheus says in the final memory, this wasn't a one-time thing.
  • Deadly Prank: Basically, her "lesson" to Amity and Willow was this; she tricked the former into reviving the Mandragora, just so that the latter could prove herself "Stronger" than the Blight, humilliating her in the process.
  • Despair Speech: Once she discovers not only that Chloe rejected psychiatric help, but that she too is a static passenger like herself, Boscha goes on a tangent about how their situation makes both of them helpless, and how they're essentially trapped on the Train forever with no hope of returning home.
  • Disappointed in You: It's subtle, but her thoughts about Amity going "Soft" and the bluntness in which she states that she won't take the first step with Luz makes it clear that what little respect she had for the Blight is gone.
  • Didn't See That Coming:
    • Principal Bump not only detailing her entire plan, but suspending her for a week because of it catch her completely off-guard.
    • Chloe depowering her catches her off guard, and she can't do anything before being killed.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: As a social darwinist, she hates being pitied, as shown with the Cursed Princesses Club. She also hates Chloe trying to extend a hand over her because Chloe herself whom Boscha once respected for being strong, refuses to help herself with therapy.
  • Draconic Humanoid: Once her Salamander traits begin to re-emerge, she gains scaly arms and legs, tail, and firepower.
  • The Dreaded: Has become this to the Apex after her "fight" with them: not only do they refuse to say her name, but most of the Apex get the hell out of dodge off the Train in order to avoid having to see her ever again. It gets to the point that One-One has to task someone just as famous as she to put a stop to her, Chloe of the Vermillion.
  • The Dreaded Pretend Tea-Party: Inverted. Boscha seems to prefer a pretend tea party over an actual one, if her fearful reaction is of any indication.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: She eventually comes to realize her fight with Lartsa is a hopeless endeavor, but she gets the reason wrong: instead of realizing she's not in the right state of mind to learn Astral Magic she just thinks she's not using enough power.
    E-M
  • Easily Forgiven: Averted. Even after she revives from the dead a better person, both Tiffany and Viney make it clear that they, as well as everybody Boscha hurt, aren't gonna forgive her so easily after what she did, if they ever forgive her. Boscha, for her part, accepts this and generally tries to be The Atoner regardless.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After being snatched by the Train, killed and having her soul split into Denizens, and then learning her true heritage in the worst way possible, but she makes amends with Skara and Amity and becomes instrumental in the Day of Unity by stalling Azura long enough for the ritual to take place, giving her the freedom she's been denied since birth.
  • Elemental Eye Colors: Inverted, since she has gray-blue eyes despite specializing in fire magic. Becomes Played Straight in her Golden Super Mode, where her eyes turn red.
  • Elemental Hair Colors: Played With. Boscha has Pink hair, which is this trope, but the element associated with it is love, not fire.
  • Elemental Punch: Her control over her fire magic is good enough that she can coat her fists with flames, which she puts to use against the Apex.
  • Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors: Implied at least. The rewrite gives her a weakness to water, as if she gets too wet, she can't cast her fire magic.
  • Elemental Weapon: She can use her fire breath to create a sword made out of fire.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Chapter 1 in its entirety serves as this to her. Externally, she decides to pull a Deadly Prank on Amity because she's pissed at having lost the Grudgby game. Internally and in private, she rationalizes that she's doing this because Amity's holding back Willow's development, and to prove that she's not as strong as she thinks she is, showing her as The Social Darwinist, yes, but one who operates in Blue-and-Orange Morality that's primarily focused on the needs of the many.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Although Boscha makes note that she wouldn't let anybody interfere, she's still dumbfounded at her classmates' Apathetic Citizens attitude regarding Amity's situation once the Mandragora grabs her.
    • Boscha shows absolute disgust over the Apex coming in and killing denizens and raiding cars, and shows off said disgust by burning children and dislocating arms.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: She can't see the difference between genuine and fake kindness. When the Cursed Princesses offer her a tray of cookies and a listening ear, she decides to burn the entire car down.
  • Evil Is Burning Hot: Boscha's a Wicked Witch, and she loves Playing with Fire.
  • Evil Redhead: Boscha has pink hair, and is the quintessential Wicked Witch.
  • Eviler than Thou: Yes, she's somehow crueler than The Apex.
  • Eye Colour Change: Her eyes glow red when she gets particularly ticked off. They then turn genuinely red in her Golden Super Mode.
  • Eye Scream: In Chapter 13, twice. First she had her Third Eye ripped out of its socket by Lucy, then has both normal eyes slashed by Lexi.
  • Fatal Flaw:
    • Cruelty: Even when she tries to help, Boscha cannot stop herself from twisting the knife the whole way through; at least part of the reason her plan goes wrong is because she not only wanted to teach Amity a lesson, but humilliate her in the process.
    • Wrath: Just about every decision she makes, good or bad, is based on her being angry at something, and her getting Blinded by Rage eventually leads to the event that sets the entire story into motion.
    • Pride: At the end of the day, Boscha is a very prideful individual who absolutely refuses to have her ego challenged. One of the easiest ways to piss her off, in fact, is to imply she's not as hot as she thinks she is.
  • Famed In-Story: A variant: she becomes infamous in the Infinity Train after spending just one week in there, partly, if not mostly, because of her extreme disposition to violence.
  • Females Are More Innocent: Completely Averted. Boscha's the only female member of the Ruby Sulphur Trio, and she also happens to be the most deranged and violent member of the group.
  • Fiery Lion: Besides having both fire powers and a lion motif, she can summon lions made of fire, as demonstrated during her breakdown at the Cursed Princess Club Car.
  • Fiery Redhead: She's more of a pinkhead than a redhead, but she checks off every other trait associated with the trope.
  • Fiery Stoic: Downplayed. Boscha has fire powers, and though she can be quite emotional, she carries herself with a collected aura most of the time.
  • Finger-Snap Lighter: One of her most basic abilities is to snap her fingers to summon a small fireball at her fingertip.
  • Fireballs: She can make these, though her arsenal's so versatile that she rarely resorts to these.
  • First-Person Smartass: The few times the narration look into her mind paints her as this.
  • Flaming Sword: She uses her fire breath to turn what's remaining of her sword copy into one of these. Not that it really helps against Lartsa.
  • Foil:
    • To Amity. Both of them are daughters of socialites who hold considerable power in their respective homes. Both were taught to never show weakness, and are incredibly talented at magic. However, while Amity's talented at Abomination magic, which involves creating them, Boscha's talented at fire magic, holding enough firepower to destroy everything. And while both have a Hidden Heart of Gold, Amity's slowly come out to light thanks to the efforts of Luz and her friends, while Boscha, having nobody to help her heal, keeps it hidden deep within herself.
    • To Luz. They're both incredibly powerful magic casters of unorthodox backgrounds whose actions bring notable changes. Luz is a human who operates with Wild Magic, while Boscha's a native of the Boiling Underworld who primarily uses fire magic. Luz's arrival changed a lot of things for the better in the Boiling Isles, while Boscha's disappearence initially doesn't change much until her parents notice, and put the Blights at risk. Finally, Luz is a Positive Friend Influence, helping the people around her heal and grow into better people, while Boscha's a Toxic Friend Influence, changing those around her for the worst and risking having them be bullied just by associating with her.
    • To Chloe of the Vermillion: they're Static Passengers with red hair, fiery personalities and can cast fire spells. The main difference is that Boscha is a witch who was born with magic, and Chloe is a human and mostly uses her skills with a donut holer to fight. But whereas Boscha could care less about sympathizing with others, Amelia, and even murder everyone in her path Chloe is willing to see that Amelia is making amends and feels disgusted in killing Boscha, even attempting to help her. Boscha is ready to set fire to the Train without a second thought while Chloe hesitates to shed blood until she has no choice.
  • Four Is Death: After being disintegrated by Chloe, her soul got split into four pieces: her Nobody, her innocence, her Heartless and the True Apex. Moreover, it's the True Apex that Red Lotus Trio, Zenith Fantasy and Phos and Chris must kill or else Boscha will never be healed.
  • Freudian Excuse: Chapter 8 reveals one: She used to be a nicer, if insensitive girl when she was younger, but Amity's harsh words as well as her mother's "training" caused her to harden and grow more malicious, until she became the jerkass she is today.
  • Freudian Excuse Denial: Chris and Phos try to ask her if she has a reason, or Freudian Excuse, for her behavior. She simply states she's always been a terrible person, and tells them to leave if they can't handle it. The duo keep prodding...
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Eventually leading into a discussion of this: Boscha brings up two hypothetical scenarios; one where Boscha hurt Chris' students, and one where she shattered Lapis after reviving Phos. When asked if they would forgive her, she promptly states the right answer's no, and proceeds to tear into this trope: Most people who make mistakes try to fix them, but everybody else only cares about what they did and how they must pay. So no matter how hard they try to earn forgiveness, it's All for Nothing because nobody cares about it.
  • Freak Out: The longer she stays at the Cursed Princess Club's tea party, the more and more uneasy she becomes until she snaps.
  • Friendless Background: The narration is quick to point that Skara's practically her Only Friend. Given her personality, it's not hard to see why this is the case. Some of her comments while she begs Lartsa to teach her Astral Magic implies that Boscha actually invoked this trope, as she says she drove away all the friends she had until only Skara remained for fear that they would be ostracized.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Outside of Skara, nobody in the Girl Posse Amity used to lead cared much about Boscha, a fact that she's very much aware of.
  • Gaydar: All it takes is one look at Amity's Gibberish of Love for Boscha to deduce she has a crush on Luz. And then it only takes her seeing the latter being Oblivious to Love for Boscha to take matters into her own hands.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: Boscha's eyes glow red when she gets particularly agitated.
  • Glowing Eyelights of Undeath: Gains these as a wight.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Ostensibly, Boscha's one of the good guys, but she's The Social Darwinist and an utter Jerkass who sees everybody as beneath her.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Again, she's allegedly one of the good guys, but the methods and tactics she employs are so extreme they make the Apex look tame.
  • Golden Super Mode: She can enter one of these by tapping into some of the Salamander's power.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: No, Boscha definitely isn't above using someone's dismembered body part as a weapon, as Todd can attest.
  • Guinea Pig Family: As revealed in the Campfire Car, her father used her as a test subject to test out Potions and other stuff, always reversing it with syringes when they got too strong.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: She was born to a Witch mother and Human father, though she was rather weak before Azura added Salamander traits into herself.
  • Had to Be Sharp: As confirmed in Chapter 7, she was born and raised in the Eldritch Location known as the Boiling Underworld: the Womb Level of the Giant Corpse World that is the Titan, where only the Strong can manage to survive existing in the cursed place. Furthermore, she's part of the Urodela family, the rulers of the Boiling Underworld, meaning she had extra pressure put on her to be the strongest there was.
  • Harmful to Minors: Not only did Boscha get both a savage beating and the mother of all "The Reason You Suck" Speech from Amity, but Amirani, disgusted by her daughter being unable to stand up against someone she considered weak, essentially tortured her until she transformed into the monster she became in the present.
  • Hates Being Called Cute: When one of the Cursed Princess Club members claims she looks cute, she gets this close to burning her before her teammates stop her.
  • Hates Wearing Dresses: Downplayed. While she has no problem wearing a dress if it's her only option, she makes it quite clear she doesn't like wearing them in general, apparently because a bad time follows for her every time she wears one.
  • The Heart: Oddly enough, she was this to the Girl Posse after Amity left. As said by Skara, when Amity left, Boscha was the only one strong enough, both in personality and actual power, to lead the posse in her stead. With Boscha gone, the posse quickly disbanded, all while denying they were ever friends with her.
  • He's Back!: Once she and Boa shake hands after discovering their true origin, they combine and bring Boscha back to life.
  • The Hero Dies: Sorta. Boscha gets depowered back to base before Chloe unleashes an energy beam at her. However, rather than die for real, Boscha gets sent to the Heartyard Car, where she's practically comatose and crucified on a cross while her soul's being split into Denizen forms.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Chloe of the Vermillion attempts to redeem her during Chapter 13, but several factors (an inopportune attack from Lexi, the arrival of the False Conductor, and Boscha's own diminishing mental health, among other things) causes Boscha to go over the edge and straight into insanity, forcing Chloe to put her down for good. This gets Subverted soon after when it's revealed her death took her to the Heart System, where she will begin a process to try redeem herself and evolve past her static nature.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After spending most of Act 1 as a Villain Protagonist, Act 2 deals with Boscha having a Heel Realization, becoming The Atoner by the time she gets off the Train and returns to the Boiling Isles.
  • Helpless Good Side: The rewrite adds a pair of voices in Boscha's head, one representing her true feelings, one representing the social darwinism she was bred into. Needless to say, the latter has so much more power and control over the body that the former can only watch all the atrocities she's committing.
  • Heinz Hybrid: Thanks to Azura's meddling, Boscha is a mix between Human, Witch, and Salamander, though the latter traits only appear in Act 2.
  • Heal It With Fire: As revealed in Chapter 25, she can use her fire to heal destroyed objects, which she uses to heal Willow's flower back to full health. The fact she never uses this ability in the present should tell you how hard she's fallen.
  • Hearing Voices: The rewrite adds a pair of voices that Boscha hears every once in a while: one representing her good nature, one representing her need for survival. Take a guess which one's more dominant.
  • Heel Realization: Once Boscha comes back from the dead with Boa's memories, she comes to realize what a horrible person she's become and pulls a Heel–Face Turn into The Atoner.
  • Hidden Depths: Boscha isn't as ignorant of her loathed status as most people think, since she drove away all the friends she used to have so they wouldn't be ostracized for associating with her, and when only Skara remained, she tries to learn Astral Magic in order to try protect her from afar.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Deconstructed. Behind Boscha's social darwinist mentality lays a genuine desire to make people stronger: it's just that her methods are so damn extreme and leave so little hint of altruism that people just see her as a psychopath.
  • Hope Crusher: With one of her Red Baron titles being "Hope Extinguisher", this trope is at the very least Implied.
  • Humanoid Abomination: Besides her Pointy Ears and Third Eye, Boscha doesn't look that different from the average passenger. However, not only does she have a bizarre set of morals, but she's a Pyromaniac of Mass Destruction with enough implied firepower to destroy Cars, which hold entire worlds inside.
  • Hybrid All Along: Through most of the story, Boscha is led to believe she's a pureblooded Witch, if an absurdly powerful one. Later down the line, we learn that she was actually born a Witch-Human hybrid, but the differences between both species left her barely alive when she was born, prompting Azura to merge her with a Golden Salamander in an attempt to stabilize her. This resulted in her becoming a Human-Witch-Salamander Heinz Hybrid, and her gaining her powerful pyrokinetic abilities.
  • Hybrid Power: As it turns out, Boscha's intense firepower is the result of her having Salamander traits on top of her Human and Witch form.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: As strong as her natural firepower is, that's not all she can do. She can also add more power to enter a Golden Super Mode that significantly increases her firepower. Not that it helps against Lartsa or Chloe.
  • Ignored Epiphany: Burning Skara was pretty much Boscha's greatest regret, to the point that she began to question herself when the Train picked her up. However, once inside the Train, she decides to focus on venting her frustrations instead of working on herself. It gets to the point that she has to be incinerated by Chloe and then her soul separated for even the smallest chance of recovery.
  • I Have Many Names: Boscha Urodela, Lion of Cremation, Three-eyed Inferno, Hope Extinguisher...
  • Improvised Weapon: The Flaming Sword she uses during her fight with Lartsa is just her breathing fire into what remained her sword after the king wrecked it.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Uses the cross she was crucified in as a weapon after she becomes a wight.
  • Insane Equals Violent: Boscha isn't the most mentally stable member of the trio, and she also happens to be the most violent of them.
  • In the Hood: When she finally reaches the Astral Car, she's wearing a cloak that conceals her full body, ditching it before pulling her Big Entrance.
  • Interspecies Friendship: Exageratted. Most of the friendships she has on the Train, but once it's revealed she's a Heinz Hybrid between Human, Witch, and Salamander, every friendship she has retroactively becomes this to some extent.
  • Interspecies Romance: By the end of Boiling Point, Boscha, a Witch who also has Human and Salamander DNA, starts dating Skara, who at that point is a mix between Witch and Griffin.
  • Jerkass: To most people, she comes across as a rude, insensitive, overall arrogant prick who sees everyone as beneath her. She has a Hidden Heart of Gold, but her personality's so intense most people just can't bother to find it.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • She could've been a bit nicer about it, but she's not wrong to stop Luz from engaging the mandragora: after all, no matter how many feats Luz has accomplished, there are still dozens of things that she's well and truly unprepared for, the mandragora being one of them. Also, Luz has a bad habit of getting into shenanigans or making things worse by accident, so it's not hard to think that letting her take on the beast could make things worse.
    • While she does follow it with a Kick the Dog moment later, Boscha isn't wrong in how as the "Conductor", Amelia's actions were what caused the Apex's rampages and that she turned a blind eye to all the destruction going on. And yes, mocking Alrich's death is a low blow but other denizens have been injured or killed because of her actions.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: If you're one of the lucky few who Boscha considers a friend, or not a disappointment, then she'll still act like a jerk, but she'll do it in the context of actually helping you get stronger, rather than to crush you underneath her heel. She states her satisfaction of Phos standing up to her in Chapter 13.
  • "Just Joking" Justification: Subverted. While she says this every time Phos and Chris look at her disapprovingly, Chris only needs to see the future to verify that no, Boscha really wasn't joking.
  • Just Toying with Them: The Astral Car practically confirms this, revealing Boscha could've ascended into her Golden Super Mode and burned them to dust in an instant, rather than the torturous, drawn out fight they had.
  • Kick the Dog: She shows no sympathy at how Amelia lost Alrich and had been stuck on the train for three decades without any chance of leaving. In contrast, even the likes of Zenith Fantasy — which includes Simon — look in sadness.
  • Kick the Morality Pet: Pretty much the reason why she ended up on the Train in the first place: during her temper tantrum after getting suspended, she accidentally burns Skara, the only person who actually likes her and considers her a friend. Horrified at what she did, Boscha tearfully runs away, ending up on the Train as a result.
  • Kill It with Fire: If Boscha encounters something in her way that she can burn to dust, the question's not if she'll do it, but when, and how much firepower is she going to use. In Chapter 13 she decides to destroy the entire Train upon seeing Chloe side with the Apex and showing compassion to Amelia — the one who created the Apex.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: She burned Lucy and gave her nasty burns around her eye. Lucy in turn rips out her third eye the next time they see each other.
  • Little Bit Beastly: After discovering her true origin and assuming her true form, she gains the armor-like scales on her arms and legs, sharp teeth, and tail from a salamander.
  • Love Informant: Serves as this to Luz and Amity, with her sending a letter to the former revealing the latter's feelings.
  • Logical Weakness: While a Potions student, her main method of attack is with fire magic. Therefore, if she's hit with enough water, she can't cast it anymore.
  • Mathematician's Answer: After she nearly destroys the Cursed Princess Club Car during a meltdown, Calpernia, Phos, and Chris ask Boscha why do people hate her. The best answer Boscha can come up with is either saying that they had a reason, or that it was a good reason.
  • Made a Slave: Shortly after Azura turned her into a Heinz Hybrid, she had Persephone brand her with a Servitude glyph to ensure the child wouldn't endanger Skara.
  • Mask of Sanity: Don't let her collected aura fool you: behind her seemingly calm demeanor hides a tried and true pyromaniac ready to burn the whole world down if it gets her what she wants.
  • Magic Potion: Being a student at the Potions track, she naturally has a knack for these: she creates a potion to revive the Mandragora at the start of the story, and then she bonds with the Cursed Princess Club by brewing potions with them.
  • Meaningful Name: Her surname comes from the order name of Salamander, who, in mythology, are related to fire elementals.
  • Misery Builds Character: A firm believer of this trope, which is why she acts like a sociopathic Card-Carrying Jerkass, for the most part, that is.
  • Missing Child: The Train picks her up as she's running away after burning Skara. In this case, people don't notice she's gone because she was suspended for a week before it happened, meaning they only notice when the week flies by and she doesn't show up. Or at least, Skara notices.
  • Mother, I Don't Want To Fight: As revealed in Chapter 24, Boscha wasn't the Blood Knight she is on the present day, looking horrified as Amirani killed people and tried to drill the whole "dog eats dog" mentality of the Boiling Underworld onto her head, even running away crying when it becomes too much for her.
  • Moral Sociopathy: Being not only a prime example of The Social Darwinist, but having Blue-and-Orange Morality to boot, Boscha's actions may make sense to her, but she always comes across as an utter sociopath to most people she meets.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: Boscha packs a surprisingly mean punch despite looking just as slender as most witches. This gets emphasized when she becomes a wight, since despite logically having no muscles anymore, she can carry the cross she was crucified in no problem.
  • My Blood Runs Hot: Implied. After Lucy rips off her third eye and gets some blood on her face, the narration notes she winces because the blood is rather hot.
  • Mythological Motif:
    • The Salamander. Her surname is named off of the order that Salamanders belong to and part of her number is actually the total number of living salamander species. Salamanders in myth are related to fire, befitting Boscha being skilled in casting fire magic.
    • She also brings to mind The Nemean Lion: in Greek Mythology, it was a lion-like beast known not only for having fur that made it untouchable, but for having a great capacity for cruelty, just like how Boscha's not only ridiculously tough, but also crueler than the Apex.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Boscha is horrified at accidentally burning Skara, which is the moment where she gets picked up by the Train.

    N-Y
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: It's safe to say that every single Red Baron title she has is this.
  • No Challenge Equals No Satisfaction: Being an unholy mix between The Social Darwinist and Blood Knight, Boscha very rarely goes all out when she fights, preferring to savor any fight she gets into for as much as she can. In fact, she only ever goes all out when her opponent either proves they can stand it, or piss her off beyond belief.
  • Nominal Hero: She's mostly interested in her own survival on the Train, though she will be pragmatic and do nice things for people once in a while.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: As the Apex can attest, their "fight" with her ended in quite the brutal, devastating loss for them.
  • Non-Human Undead: After losing her soul, due to it being split apart to create the Boschazens, she turns into the zombie equivalent of witches in her world; a wight.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: We never find out what the hell she did during her first week on the Train prior to arriving at the Astral Car. All we know beyond a few hints is that it was so bad it turned her into The Dreaded for the Train.
  • No Ontological Inertia: Any fire she creates only lasts as long as she has enough strength to maintain them: if she's beaten to the point she can barely stand, like her fight with Lartsa, or is convinced to calm down before it engulfs everything, like with the Cursed Princess Club Car, the fires dissipate into nothing.
  • No Sympathy: Boscha gives precisely zero feathers about Amelia's tragic past: all she cares about are the results.
  • Not So Invincible After All: After being showcased as a nigh-unstoppable being, Boscha's given quite the reality check in Chapter 13: Not only does she get depowered when Lucy rips off her Third Eye, but Chloe eventually depowers her back to her normal form before pulverizing her with an energy beam via the Mahamayuri Train.
  • Obliviously Evil: Thanks to her upbringing in the Boiling Underworld, Boscha has come to believe that Might Makes Right and Misery Builds Character, and that, as an Apex, it's her duty to motivate people into becoming stronger. Unfortunately, she can't quite understand that her actions make her come across as a sociopathic asshat who's more interested in torturing people than actually helping them.
  • Older Hero vs. Younger Villain: It's Downplayed, since the age gap isn't that wide, but she's this during her fight with the Apex; facing off against the kids of the group, while Boscha herself is a teenager. Of course, the line between hero and villain get very blurry, very quickly.
    • Again downplayed with Boscha and the Red Lotus Trio as Chloe is age 10 but Lexi and Atticus' ages are harder to determine but presumably much older than Boscha herself.
  • Older Than He Looks: She's a teenager, but she's stated to be only half of Chloe's size, Chloe being ten.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Boscha tends to carry herself in a specific manner, so when she deviates from said manner, it's all the more reason to run.
    • After getting suspended for the mandragora prank, instead of blowing up right then and there, she assumes a Tranquil Fury as she walks away from the school, startling Skara.
    • When it becomes clear she can't beat Lartsa, and he's willing to kill her, she begs and pleads him to teach her Astral Magic.
    • As soon as she's told that the Cursed Princess Club's about to have a legitimate tea party, rather than a pretend one, the narration points out she actually looks scared.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Serves as this to not only the Apex, but the Train. To the point that One-One has requested an agent of his own to stop her.
    • For the Apex, not only does she share the same social darwinist views that they do, but she has enough power to back up her own claim, easily laying waste to them in an instant.
    • For the Train, her number is easily one of, if not the, biggest starting number out of all the passengers, and her general attitude turns her into a one-man Apex all on her own.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Once she mentally hits rock bottom, she goes completely insane and decides to burn down the entire Train, prompting One-One and the Master of Masters to summon the Heart System to try stop her from causing any more chaos.
  • Only Mostly Dead: It at first seems like Chloe kills her with a full power energy beam, but a few moments later, she's revealed to have been taken to the Heartyard Car, where her soul will be split into Denizens to try help her shed her Static status.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: To say she gave the Apex a taste of their own medicine would be an understatement.
  • Pet the Dog: She gives Phos a pep talk stating that they may be "Weak" now, but they can grow stronger later. When Phos decides to stand up to protect Zenith Fantasy, Boscha actually states how proud she is.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: She's half the size of Chloe, but she packs the meanest punch out of the Ruby Sulphur Trio.
  • Platonic Declaration of Love: Tells this to Skara when they talk again after Boscha is revived. Boscha eventually gets this declaration back, but it's... Less platonic.
    • She says this again to Willow before she goes to train with Edric.
  • Playing with Fire: Her specialty is casting fire magic, which includes everything from Fireballs to a fiery Elemental Punch.
  • Power Dyes Your Hair: Her hair turns yellow when she assumes her Golden Super Mode.
  • Power Floats: She begins floating when she powers up to her Golden Super Mode and remains floating for the remainder of the fight until she powers down.
  • The Power of Hate: She reaches her biggest power boost upon encountering Amelia, AKA The Conductor, who also happens to be the source of the Apex.
  • Put on a Bus: She gets killed by Chloe and taken to the Heart System in order to try help her evolve beyond a Static Passenger, leaving her comatose for Act 2.
  • Psycho Prototype: Boscha is the first Salamander Witch ever created by Azura, and she's an absolute lunatic when the story starts.
  • Pyromaniac: Fits this better than her canon counterpart at times, since not only does she have additional firepower compared to her, but she's also a tad bit more unstable.
  • Rage Against the Reflection: When Azura shows her a mirror that depicts her true form, Boscha breaths heavily for a bit before slicing it with her claws and running away.
  • Rasputinian Death: To say she takes a beating before being put down would be an understatement. She loses her Third Eye and most of her power alongside it from Lucy, gets knocked around by Chloe and Lexi, briefly becomes blinded by the latter before getting better, regains the eye only to be smacked with a donut holer, and then gets forced down to base form before being consumed by a beam of energy. And she's not even dead after this!
  • Red Baron: She's collected several titles across the week she's stayed on the train: Three-eyed Inferno, Hope Extinguisher, Lion of Cremation, among many others.
  • Reformed, but Rejected: A fact that she's very much well aware of. Even after her Heel–Face Turn and return to the Boiling Isles, the horrific things she did means that some characters (primarily Viney and Lindsay from Zenith Fantasy) are either slow or unwilling to forgive her, something that she accepts completely.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: When Boscha is pissed, all three eyes glow red. The author notes for Chapter 4 reveal that her eyes were like this the whole time she fought the Apex. And when they actually turn red, rather than just glow, that means stuff's about to go down.
  • Rule of Symbolism: Boscha's number — 16,760 — is divided into two parts: "16" is the atomic number of sulfur and "760" is the number of total living Salamander species.
  • Sanity Slippage: Not that she was particularly sane beforehand, but her mind begins to wither after One-One tells her the Awful Truth about her situation. And then she completely loses it when Amelia appears.
  • Secretly Selfish: Subverted. Given her personality up until Chapter 5, it's easy to assume she wants to learn Astral Magic implies in order to get more power, or another self-centered goal. She actually wants to learn it so that she can use her Astral Projection to protect Skara, fearing she'll be bullied because they're friends.
  • School Uniforms are the New Black: Through her journey on the Train, Boscha's been wearing the Hexside Potions track student uniform for over a week now. This is Justified because, until the Cursed Princess Club Car, she legitimately had nothing else to wear.
  • Shipper with an Agenda: While it's unknown if she actually cares about the Lumity pairing, she still edges Luz and Amity to get together, mostly so that the former stops acting like a lovestruck buffoon.
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: When Boscha asks Chloe why she's defending Amelia despite being the source of the Apex, Chloe snaps back that unlike her, she's trying to make amends instead of going on a killing spree. Boscha responds by not only blowing up the Car they're on, but 'deciding to target the rest of the Train in return. It's this point it becomes clear Boscha cannot be reasoned with, and she's killed and sentenced to the Heart System as a result.
  • Slave Brand: She was branded with a Servitude glyph by Persephone by the orders of Azura, turning her into a slave to the Brae family.
  • The Smurfette Principle: She's the only female member of the Ruby Sulphur Trio, as the other members are either male (Chris) or androgynous (Phos).
  • The Social Darwinist: Boscha has... a strange version of what she considers "Strong" and "Weak". It's also what drives her entire person, as everything she does is tinted with a "weak and strong" mindset. Not that this helps her get any friends.
  • So Proud of You: In one of her nicest moments so far, she compliments Phos for standing up against her in Chapter 13.
  • Stealth Mentor: Deconstructed. Boscha's The Social Darwinist, yes, but it's played on the lens that she wants people to get stronger, so she acts like an utter asshole in order to motivate them to stand up. However this attitude, coupled with her Hidden Heart of Gold, makes her come across as a sociopathic asshole who wants to grind people under her heel 'till they break, making her quite hated among her classmates.
  • Stop Hitting Yourself: Mockingly says this to Todd while slapping him with his own arm.
  • Stranger in a Familiar Land: Downplayed. When Boscha eventually returns to the Boiling Isles after her Train trip, she can't help but feel a little awkward after everything she's seen and learned.
  • Strapped to an Operating Table: The next memory between Boscha and Prometheus after the first post-Amity memory has Boscha strapped to one of these, while Prometheus begins some "treatment" for her.
  • Strong and Skilled: One of the many reasons why Boscha's so feared is that not only does she have enough firepower to melt down cars, but has enough skill to use them to deadly effect: fireballs, a fiery Elemental Punch, Summoning giant lions made of fire...
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: To just about everyone, she acts like a haughty jackass who is above them. To Skara, at least when they're alone, she proves to be a bit more friendly and cheerful.
  • Suicidal Cosmic Temper Tantrum: She threatens to destroy the entire Cursed Princess Club if they don't stop "lying" to her with their "fake" kindness. Keyword being threaten, since once Calpernia tries to talk some sense into her, Boscha backs down quickly...
    • Brought back with a vengeance in the chapter called "Armageddon" as she freely incinerates a car all the way down to its code and is willing to do it to the entire train before Chloe destroys her.
  • Super Prototype: Boscha was the first "Salamander Witch" created by Azura, and not only is she sentient compared to the animalistic variants that came later, but because she was made with a Golden Salamander, she can tap into its power to achieve a Golden Super Mode.
  • Take Me to Your Leader: Exclaims this after making her Big Entrance to the Astral Car. She gets arrested soon after.
  • Talking the Monster to Death: Defied. Not only does Boscha never use this tactic herself, but when Chloe tries to use it on her, she wastes no time making it clear that after everything she's gone through, a simple pep talk won't be enough to convince her to stop.
  • Teens Are Monsters: She's just a teenager, and yet she has so much raw firepower and violent streak that she proves to be even worse than the Apex, becoming infamous in the Infinity Train in a single week.
  • This Cannot Be!: Her inner narration makes it clear she cannot fathom why she'd be suspended over her Deadly Prank involving the Mandragora.
  • Therapy Is for the Weak: Not only does she not think this is true, but refusing therapy is one of the easiest ways to piss her off.
  • Three-Month-Old Newborn: After Azura finishes the Fusion Dance between her and a golden Salamander, Boscha comes out with a full head of hair, as well as some minor motor skills.
  • Three-Point Landing: This is the pose she takes when she returns from the Train.
  • Tiny Tyrannical Girl: She's shorter than most Passengers, but she also happens to be one of the most volatile and dangerous Passengers around.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Of the Ruby Sulphur Trio, since while Phos and Chris can be described as neutral or good edging towards either side, Boscha is pure, unrepentant evil.
  • Tranquil Fury: When Boscha gets angry, she usually lets it out in the most blatant way possible. Therefore, her calmly walking away from Hexside after being suspended is such a drastic change in tone that even Skara finds it unnerving.
  • Trapped in Another World: She's stuck on the Infinity Train until further notice or when she gets her number down to zero. And then she meets Sensei and the Awful Truth on her situation...
  • Tragic Mistake: When they were younger, not only did Boscha fail to notice Amity's clear anger and discomfort, but she essentially goaded her into attacking her, resulting in her getting the mother of all beatings, a potent "The Reason You Suck" Speech, and be forced by Amirani to take on some "training" that wound up breaking her into the monster she is today.
  • Too Powerful to Live: She's killed off at the end of Chapter 13 and sentenced to the Heart System, as her incredible power but unstable mind proves to be way too dangerous to be allowed to walk around.
  • Token Wizard: Out of the Ruby Sulphur Trio, she's the only one who explicitly uses magic.
  • The Unfettered: If Boscha wants to get or accomplish something, or even just get a point across, she'll stop at absolutely nothing to achieve it.
  • Upbringing Makes the Hero: She was raised on the Boiling Underworld, the Womb Level of a Giant Corpse World that also doubles as a Death World, where only the strongest get to survive. As a result, she grows up to become The Social Darwinist with a morality unlike any of the Isles residents. And then Amity broke her...
  • Underestimating Badassery: When Boscha first hears of Chloe — from King Lartsa describing her as "casting fire, summoning demons and using a donut holer" — she calls her Strong. However, she then starts seeing Chloe as weak upon learning how Chloe has refused therapy for herself. Then she heavily starts regretting it when Chloe uses her Mahamayuri Train to drain her power and kill her.
  • Unspoken Plan Guarantee: She didn't tell Skara about the finer details of her plan, only her explicit role in it, probably trying to invoke this trope.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Downplayed, but as revealed in Chapter 8, Boscha was a nicer, if still rude and insensitive girl back when she, Skara, and Amity were younger. And then she and Amity had a private chat...
    • Chapter 25 solidifies this, not only showing Boscha and Amity being friendly and civil with one another, but she was even willing to extend that friendship to Willow, who wasn't from an aristocratic family, just because she was Amity's friend.
  • Vague Age: She's a teenager, but her specific age isn't quite clear. Even the Train doesn't know what age she is, simply saying "Age: Teenager" while recapping her info.
  • Villain Protagonist: Boscha does has moments of sympathy, but she's still a vicious, ill-tempered bully whose methods horrify the Apex, and who thinks that bringing people suffering will make them stronger.
  • Violence is the Only Option: Whenever Boscha encounters something on her way, her first instinct is to attack it: either with her natural fire powers, or other means.
  • Villain Respect: Boscha walks a very thin line between being a Nominal Hero and a straight up Villain Protagonist, and in general, she sees everybody as beneath her. So, anybody who she considers "Strong" is this, since she's basically calling them a Worthy Opponent.
  • Volcanic Veins: When she grows angry at Lartsa after surviving an attack from her Golden Super Mode, her veins turn volcanic-like as she tries to throw an Elemental Punch at the astral monarch.
  • Warrior Prince: She's the daughter of the ruler of the Boiling Underworld, making her the closest equivalent to royalty in the setting, and she's also a tried and true warrior.
  • We Used to Be Friends: As revealed in Chapter 25, there was once a time when not only she and Amity, but also Willow were legitimate friends. Then Odalia entered the picture, and it all went downhill from there.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: If Boscha's left with no other choice, she'll spam her fire powers like there's no tomorrow.
  • When She Smiles: Most of the time, Boscha's smiles are either a Grin of Audacity, or a Psychotic Smirk. However, when King Lartsa initially confirms he can teach her Astral Magic, the narration points out her smile is nothing short of genuine and hopeful.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Boscha's not only incredibly powerful, but also completely insane, which means bad news for anybody who stands in her way or pisses her off. This becomes one of the main reasons why she's subjected to the Heart System, as letting her walk around with that much power and mental instability would spell doom for the Train.
  • Willfully Weak: The week she spends at the Train makes it clear she could destroy entire Cars with little issue, but she holds herself back both to give her opponents a fighting chance, and to entertain herself.
  • Wicked Witch: She's a member of a Mage Species, and she also happens to be one of the most demented, violent witches in the Boiling Isles, as the Apex can attest.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Ohhhh yes Boscha would definitely hurt a child. While most of the Apex kids did deserve some punishment, the way she handles it is too much for even Grace and Simon themselves. She's also willing to go toe-to-toe with Chloe who is age 10.
  • You Are Not Ready: King Lartsa tells her as such when it comes to learning Astral Magic, because she lacks the discipline and mental stability to use the magic effectively.
  • You Remind Me of X: King Lartsa remarks that Boscha is very similar to another red-haired passenger who passed by his car a while back. Boscha takes the compliment well and commends the passenger for being Strong. However when Boscha sees that passenger in person, Chloe, she dismisses the latter after seeing how she got on the Train.
  • You Said You Would Let Them Go: She strikes a deal with the leaders of the Apex: they give her the box, she stops torturing the kids. Once they give her the box, though, Boscha simply defaces them and gets ready to continue the assault, stopping only by the timely intervention of the Mana Academy students.
  • You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry!: Not that you'd like Boscha when she's in a good mood anyway, but pissing off Boscha is pretty much a death wish, as what little restraint she has goes right out the window and she becomes a killing machine that won't stop until what ticked her off is gone.
