Playable Characters

    Girlfriend
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fnflullabygf.png
"Man, wheres that cute blue dwarf and his magnum dick..."
Everyone's favourite speaker-riding love interest, Girlfriend's set out to find out what happened to Boyfriend when he disappeared suddenly, unknowingly walking right into Hypno's trap. Girlfriend is the playable character in "Safety Lullaby", "Left Unchecked", and "Lost Cause".
  • Adaptational Modesty: Instead of her usual red dress, Girlfriend's attire in this mod is a shirt, jacket and pants. Seems to be a justified example- Pico and Boyfriend are shown dressed in cold weather attire at the time; implying it's just too cold for her usual outfit.
  • The Determinator: If "Lost Cause" is anything to go by, she won't let Hypno kidnap her easily, even with his psychic powers to assist him, mounting a final brave, if equally fruitless attempt to resist his mind control.
  • Damsel in Distress: In "Isotope", she's seen stuck inside a GameBoy right next to Glitchy Red. Not that she seems to mind, however.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Her idiocy makes her immune to Hypno's psychic powers, meaning she can go toe-to-toe with him easily. It's not strong enough to subvert his One-Winged Angel form though.
  • Fearless Fool: As in canon, Girlfriend willingly set out into the dangerous situation she's found herself in, smiling all the while.
  • Primal Stance: Due to Hypno's mind control kicking in, Girlfriend is a bit unsteady on her feet, with her down pose resulting in this. This in turn has led fans to give her the nickname "Monkey GF".
  • Too Dumb to Fool: Almost. Girlfriend's status as a Brainless Beauty is so strong that for a while, it actually worked in her favour against Hypno, who was forced to focus more of his psychic powers into his pendulum and partially disassemble himself just to get the upper hand. By the time of "Lost Cause", even though she's been kidnapped by Hypno, she seems to be on the verge of wearing off the latter's powers altogether, as she can stand without difficulty this time. Unfortunately, this ultimately causes Hypno to take a more direct approach...

    Boyfriend
Girlfriend's Boyfriend. He'd normally be the hero, but Hypno's already kidnapped him. Instead, he stars as the protagonist of the mod's side story, meeting and rap battling with several famous figures from various Pokémon Creepypastas, and even gets the privilege of meeting (and successfully catching!) Missingno. at Cinnabar Island. Boyfriend stars as the playable character in "Monochrome", "Missingno.", "Insomnia", "Isotope", "Brimstone", and the second half of Death Toll, taking the place of Dawn once he gets sucked into the game.
  • Ambiguous Situation: It's unclear exactly where the events of his songs line up with the rest of the mod, and whether they happened before or after his kidnapping. However, given that Word of God is that both Boyfriend and Girlfriend are killed at the end of "Lost Cause", and Girlfriend can be seen trapped inside a GameBoy in "Isotope", it's likely that the events of the songs are their own, separate stories not connected to Hypno's week at all.
  • Bigger Is Better in Bed: In V1, Girlfriend makes a comment about Boyfriend's "magnum dick". And that's taking into account that Girlfriend, who is twice Boyfriend's height, is the one considering Boyfriend's penis large. There's also one of the more humorous Unown lines, "NICE COCK", to take into account.
  • Crossplayer: In "Hell Bell" he plays as Dawn, before Beelze steals his soul.
  • Distressed Dude: In Hypno's week, having been kidnapped by the villainous Pokémon prior to the events of the story.
  • Fearless Fool: In line with the original game, Boyfriend isn't concerned in any way that most of the characters he faces could kill him in an instant. This actually works in his favor, as he's able to face and successfully rap battle against such diverse characters as Missingno., Buried Alive and Silver (plus his sleeping Feraligatr) and make it out alive. The only time he realizes how much danger he's truly in is if he fails "Insomnia"... although he doesn't have much time to comprehend it, and during the second half of "Death Toll", where after Beelze obtains his soul and traps him in the game, he looks simultaneously pissed off and terrified.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: Suffers this courtesy of Beelze during "Death Toll", signified by Dawn slowly fading away and Boyfriend taking her place. It lasts for the rest of the song and ends with his Thousand-Yard Stare... while trapped inside his own DS.

    Hypno

Pokédex Entry: Hypno holds a pendulum in its hand. The arcing movement and glitter of the pendulum lull the foe into a deep state of hypnosis. While this Pokémon searches for prey, it polishes the pendulum.

The main antagonist of the mod, the titular, malevolent Hypno from the Hypno's Lullaby Creepypasta, having already captured Boyfriend, he now has his sights set on the searching Girlfriend.

  • Adaptational Abomination: As he's the same Hypno from the infamous Creepypasta, he's already rife with Adaptational Villainy, but in the original fic and rom hack he seemed to not be much more than a particularly malicious Hypno that kidnapped children with one of his natural abilities from the games, and still keeping his regular appearance. His appearance in this mod changes his eyes to black and eventually gives him a new mouth he tears open himself and even rips his head off his body as he starts breaking down due to focusing too much psychic energy on his pendulum. Taken even further in Lost Cause where his body has deteriorated into a giant mass of gore and organs with his spasming, screeching head atop the pile.
  • Animalistic Abomination: Hoo nelly! Even before his body collapses, leaving his head attached by only a few tendrils and violently spasming about, the damn thing looks incredibly unnerving, with completely black eyes and no visible mouth, it makes it all the creepier when he manages to twist his lower face into an evil grin anyway.
  • Animal Gender-Bender: The Hypno present is male and has a very deep voice to match, but its neck fur is long and straight, a trait present only in female Hypno (males' neck fur is shorter and scruffier in comparison).
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Banbuds has stated that after Left Unchecked Hypno successfully hypnotized and kidnapped Girlfriend. Subverted as of the V2 Build, where Girlfriend has shaken off the hypnosis, and Hypno is quite peeved at it. This becomes DOUBLE subverted as of the QNA, which reveals Hypno managed to kill both Girlfriend and Boyfriend at once after Lost Cause.
  • Black Eyes of Evil: Unlike a regular Hypno, his eyes are completely black. A pair of teaser images and "Bygone Purpose" in V2 show the origin of his rage and kidnapping and shows his eyes were normal once and they turned completely black after losing his trainer.
  • Body Horror: His body goes limp and his head detaches from the body in Left Unchecked. By "Lost Cause", he's deteriorated into a Gurdy-esque pile of organs with Hypno's shrieking head on top.
  • Break the Cutie: This hulking monster used to be a tiny, adorable thing... until they took his trainer away, turning him into the Hypno you know and fear now.
  • Clipped-Wing Angel: Subverted with his second form. Even if his body is horribly malformed, it doesn't stop him from being a threat. In fact, it's a sign that he's even more dangerous, as his injuries are a side effect of pushing his psychic powers further, which is outright necessary to hypnotize Girlfriend.
  • Evil Is Visceral: His increasingly mangled, gory appearance in "Left Unchecked" and especially "Lost Cause" only adds to how vicious he is.
  • Foregone Conclusion: Considering its role in the present, it's not really hard to assume that Alexis failed to get through to it in "Bygone Purpose."
  • Irony: Hypno is a Psychic-Type Pokémon, which are renowned for their Super-Intelligence more often than not, but he struggles to comprehend the rules of UNO.
  • Last Ditch Move: At the end of "Lost Cause", Hypno literally snaps and tears his head away from the final ligaments holding him together trying to lunge at Girlfriend due to his body becoming too broken and mangled to move.
  • Leitmotif: His is a section of "Left Unchecked", which recurs throughout the mod in songs sung by several other opponents.
  • No Mouth: As per usual with Hypno, although horrifyingly subverted in Left Unchecked where his mouth is torn open with pieces of his flesh still barely attached across the new gap.
  • Not So Above It All: As seen in "Pasta Night", Hypno seems to have trouble playing UNO, and all of his poses display some form of confusion. He even has Pokémon cards in place of regular UNO Cards.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Implied to have undergone it in "Lost Cause", where GF breaks free from his hypnosis, prompting him to lose his shit and become even more of a One-Winged Angel than before.
Hypno: You're awake?! I will not tolerate high-maintenance pests!
  • Shout-Out: His appearance in "Lost Cause", being a head atop a massive pile of organs, was confirmed by Word of God to be a reference to Gurdy from The Binding of Isaac.
  • Too Dumb to Fool: On the fooling end of this, Banbuds has stated the reason he undergoes his gruesome transformation for his 2nd phase is because Girlfriend is so stupid he needed to focus all his psychic energy into his pendulum to stand a chance at hypnotizing her, thus partially disassembling his body in the process.
  • Villainous Friendship: With Lord X and MX, if the upbeat and jovial tone of “Pasta Night” is anything to go by.
  • Villainous Breakdown: An almost literal case. As GF progresses through the week, Hypno starts losing his composure and tries channeling his psychic powers into his brain, resulting in his body slowly tearing itself apart. Come "Lost Cause", he's completely lost his shit, and his body at this point.
  • Villainous RRoD: His transformation from a relatively normal-looking Pokémon to a flailing malformed mass is Hand Waved as a result of him channeling too much psychic power in an attempt to affect Girlfriend's nearly nonexistent brain, resulting in his body nearly tearing itself apart from the overexertion. He tears himself even further apart in "Lost Cause" once Girlfriend breaks free of his hypnosis.
  • Villains Out Shopping: In "Pasta Night", Hypno takes a break from hypnotizing and kidnapping innocent victims to play a friendly game of Uno with fellow creepypasta characters Lord X and MX.
  • Weight Loss Horror: A subtle example. The mod's Pokedex entry on Hypno states that he stands at an even six feet tall, taller than most other Hypno, yet weighs 25 pounds where most are at least 110. Likely a result of how he disregards his physical limits in favor of pushing his psychic power.

    Gold
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/c1d1e3aa_63c2_4b00_81d6_cf3942255645.png
"I'M DEAD."
Click here to see him the second part of "Monochrome"
Pokédex Entry: With Unowns as his puppeteer, his groans are pitiful sparks of hope that Gold is possibly still alive.

The trainer of the second generation of Pokémon and the protagonist of Pokémon Lost Silver, appears for a rap battle if the player accepts the free video game from the stranger after completing Left Unchecked.

  • Age Lift: Unlike his canon self, who is 11, Gold is 18 on this mod.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Two of the more humorous Unown comments, "BOOB LOL" and "NICE COCK", seem to imply that Gold likes both breasts (a mainly feminine feature) and penises (a mainly masculine feature; Gold's comment was mostly aimed at Boyfriend's penis.)
  • Ascended Extra: Went from an Optional Boss in V1 to the final boss of his own week in V2.
  • An Arm and a Leg: The poor boy is limbless as soon as he pops in, as he was at the end of his fic, although he seems to have gained the ability to float in his undead state, likely an inherited ability from the Unown possessing him. Frostbite reveals that he lost some of his limbs as Blake due to, well, frostbite from climbing Mt. Silver and he lost the rest of them from being attacked by Red's Freakachu.
  • Body Horror: Limbs missing? Check. Completely pale skin? Check. Nightmare Face? Check. It goes even further halfway through "Monochrome," where his entire body falls off, leaving him as a mutilated head and spine floating in the air alongside six Unown spelling out "NO MORE."
  • Composite Character: The mod seems to merge his story with Blake's own, and here, the story of Easter Egg - Snow on Mt. Silver appears to be his final moments in life before he died.
  • Demonic Possession: Outright stated to be the Unown's "puppet" in his Pokédex entry, and it's showcased during the second part of "Monochrome" where he's constantly accompanied by a pack spelling "No More" and his mouth is completely packed with the things, as shown during his up-pose, right-pose and jump-scare during this segment. Although the Pokédex mentions his groans being a faint sign he might still be alive if not in control.
  • Eye Scream: He now is missing his eyes entirely rather than simply crying tears of blood. As stated above with his limbs, Frostbite also shows he lost one eye while still alive to the titular frostbite and the other one was taken when attacked by Freakachu.
  • Ghostly Gape: Most of his poses feature him stretching his mouth to impossible lengths, his up-pose especially where it looks like he could swallow Boyfriend whole if he wanted. Even more disturbingly, his left- and right-poses show that he can also do this with his eye sockets.
  • Jump Scare: During Monochrome he'll occasionally stretch his mouth wide, gain subtle tiny red eyes in his gaping eyeholes, and roar right in your face, seemingly just to throw you off rather than any real attempt to hurt you/Boyfriend. He/The Unown seem to get a bit more frustrated during his second phase in V2 as he starts absolutely spamming a second version with his eyes more visibly glowing and his mouth stuffed with Unown to try and get to you.
  • Monochrome Apparition: Gold's entire body (what's left of it) is entirely in black and white, saved for the blood that comes out of his eyes and from his amputation wounds. Then again, his song is called "Monochrome" for a reason.
  • Optional Boss: The game gives you a dialogue prompt before his fight, and you're free to decline it without any consequence. In V1, that is. In V2, he's the final opponent in the Lost Silver week, and fighting him is a requirement if you want to beat the week.
  • Rogue Protagonist: Two songs after you play as him as Blake in his duel against Red, you fight him as Gold postmortem playing as Boyfriend.
  • Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl: A Stringy-Haired Ghost Boy. He has messy black hair, a Nightmare Face, and is an Undead Child.
  • Tears of Blood: Like he had in his original fic, he has these streaming down his face in his idle pose, although due to his newfound lack of eyes it could simply be actual blood from the wounds rather than any of the supernatural causes implied in his Creepypasta.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In V2, he gets a second phase to his song in which the Unowns controlling him start to go all out, Jump Scaring you with impunity and calling in longer messages.
  • Turns Red: In V2, he rips his head off his body halfway through "Monochrome", and summons six Unown that spell out "NO MORE". Once he does this, his Unown messages become much lengthier, and he starts using his Jump Scare more and more frequently.
  • Undying Loyalty: Quite literally, his Half Celebi, Away, is still with him and will occasionally pop in to use Perish Song and lower your health.
  • Victory Fakeout: In V2, those who were expecting "Monochrome" to be the same length it was in V1 will be in for a nasty surprise when Gold continues the fight as a disembodied head, kicking off an all-new second half of the song.
  • Vocal Dissonance: He's got a dreadfully raspy and deep voice. His voice in "Frostbite" is a bit higher, indicating it may have something to do with him being dead and/or the Unowns' puppet.

    MissingNo.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a04ff5e2_ec0a_4b1d_8f64_b01da2278be3.png'M
Origin: Pokémon Red and Blue (Glitch Pokemon)
Pokédex Entry: Missing No. is a glitch-type Pokémon in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. The glitch occurs due to a bug in the game's programming from the Old Man battle, and others.

Arguably the most famous glitch in gaming, as well as the most famous glitch in the Pokémon series, MissingNo. appears as a Secret Boss by scrolling up and down on the main menu like you had to surf up and down in a certain spot in Generation 1 to summon it. In V2, however, it was accessible via more traditional means like every other song.

  • Adapted Out: It's not mentioned in Dissension, despite being the Greater-Scope Villain of Strangled Red.
  • Composite Character: Played with, in that while MissingNo.'s portrayal isn't a combination of several glitches, its overall appearance combines all five of its different appearances. A bit of knowledge of Missingno.'s appearance and mechanics in the original games is needed to understand this - In the case of the first four, these are dependent on the player's Trainer Name in Red and Blue, with the block-shaped form being the most commonly seen, hence why it is Missingno.'s default appearance in the mod, with its other forms popping out of the block. In contrast, Missingno.'s down pose is based on the considerably more mangled appearance it has in Yellow.
  • Giant Flyer: If only by the technicality of being classified as a bird. It can freely move through space on its own whims, is ten feet tall, and weighs over one and a half tons.
  • Giant Space Flea from Nowhere: Unlike Hypno or Gold, MissingNo. has no established lore, instead appearing after messing around in the main menu.
  • Glitch Entity: In-Universe, it's based off of one of the most popular examples of this in gaming history, and its very existence messes with the game mechanics themselves. Adding to this, the screen gets a glitchy effect whenever the player views its Pokedex entry.
  • Interface Screw: Easily one of the most intense in FNF mod history, the arrows will randomly switch all around the screen and rotate, so best hope you memorized which color is which direction while that's going on.
  • Non-Malicious Monster: Even if it's an incredibly scrambled, reality-bending Pokemon, it is still a Pokemon that's more just a wild animal than an active adversary. It even takes a shine to Boyfriend after their confrontation since it becomes one of his Pokemon.
  • Promoted to Playable: Briefly in "Brimstone", in which Boyfriend sends them out to fight Buried Alive's Gengar, but it tags out once Gengar is defeated.
  • Sealed Badass in a Can: It turns out that after its debut song, Boyfriend manages to catch MissingNo., and later brings it along to help him fight Buried Alive's Gengar in "Brimstone". The two are quite evenly matched, though MissingNo. eventually tags out once Gengar is defeated.

Other

    Cartridge Guy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/412d1731_0639_446c_970b_41d3c0285b97.png
"Don't worry, I got an eternity. Can you say the same?"
A strange and quite verbally abusive shopkeeper who sells various trinkets that correspond to specific bonus songs.
  • Affably Evil: In V1, if you deny his request for a free video game, he doesn't force you into it and simply leaves.
  • Collector of the Strange: Collects various trinkets to sell for a quick buck, each one unlocking a bonus song.
  • Conspicuous Trenchcoat: We can't see what he looks like because of it.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Says very plainly he'd kill you if that was what was on his agenda, and spends most of his time fleecing you out of money and insulting you. However, not only does he find Hypno's actions beyond forgiveness and warns you to not show him any sympathy, but he also seems to see what happened to DISABLED as just plain cruel and can't find it in himself to make a remark about the Broken Note.
    "She can't sing..."
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Seems to be a firm believer in this, considering that he has No Sympathy for Hypno despite his Dark and Troubled Past, supported by one of his idle lines:
"Don't sympathize with evil. Understanding it may be of use, however."
  • Jerkass: He'll randomly call you ugly while browsing his shop (especially if you play on Pussy Mode), and he still makes you pay for items he doesn't want because he finds it funny.
  • Missing Mom: In one of his lines when you're on Hell mode, he points out his mom is dead, and recommends you say hi to her when you follow suit.
  • Non-Action Guy: He's the only character in the mod who doesn't sing (something he points out in one of his idle lines) and he doesn't actually play video games, just sell them.
  • Non-Human Head: While hard to tell with the dark background and equally dark shadowed face, one of his sprites reveal that his head has a cup handle, akin to Cuphead. One of his lines draws attention to this design detail, while also preemptively denying anyone who tries to drink from his head.
  • No Sympathy: When offering Alexis' Slowbro hairclip in his shop, which unlocks "Bygone Purpose" — a song that showcases Hypno's backstory, he tells the player to not care for the Pokémon's past.
Cardridge Guy: Don't feel bad for him. Bastard doesn't deserve an ounce of sympathy.
  • Paranormal Mundane Item: Each item he sells is a rather normal looking item that unlocks a bonus song associated with the object, including:
    • The free copy of Pokémon Lost Silver, which unlocks the Lost Silver week.
    • A GBA SP that "does nothing but make annoying noises" for 300 gold, which unlocks "Isotope".
    • A copy of Pokemon Red with a torn label for 300 gold, which unlocks "Dissension".
    • A candle that never goes out, bought for 200 gold, which was meant to unlock "Purin".
    • An envelope that has your name on it, for 666 gold, which unlocks "Death Toll".
    • A broken quarter note pair for 425 gold, which unlocks "Amusia".
    • A bloody hat and a ring for 500 gold, which unlocks "Pasta Night".
    • Alexis' Slowbro hair clip for 600 gold, which unlocks "Bygone Purpose".
    • A broken disc that even the shopkeeper doesn't want for 999 gold, which unlocks Shinto's songs.
  • We Buy Anything: Subverted. You can't sell his goods back to him because he explicitly wants to get rid of them.

    Away
A vertically bisected Celebi who was the final Pokémon that Blake caught during his ascent on Mt. Silver, taking Freakachu down with itself at the end of his battle with Red. Away later returned to its now-undead trainer's side once he became Gold, and occasionally shows up during "Monochrome" to cut Boyfriend's health down to half permanently.

V2

Opponents

    Red
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fnflullabyred.png ...
Click here to see him during the second half of "Frostbite"
Pokédex Entry: The Kanto Region's Greatest Champion, residing in isolation with his Pokémon at the freezing top of Mt. Silver. What a fool he was.

The legendary trainer that isolated himself on Mount Silver after defeating the Kanto League and becoming champion and main antagonist of Easter Egg - Snow on Mt. Silver, who was killed by the cold of the mountain's summit in his battle against Blake. He is the main opponent in "Frostbite", which recreates his encounter with Blake.

  • Age Lift: In this mod, Red is 20 years old.
  • The Beastmaster: Formerly. Unlike in the original story, where he has (some of) his team by his side, most of his entire team is already long-dead by the time Blake faces him, and their corpses can be seen in the background of "Frostbite." The only one even close to alive is his Freakachu.
  • Body Horror: As seen in the second image, Red loses his left leg and right arm, his entire chest area has been exposed and a lot of his body has been reduced to the bone.
  • Face Framed in Shadow: Not once can you see his eyes in his "alive" form. His dead form has much less shadow over his eyes, letting you see that he no longer has any.

    PLS Silver
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fnflullabysilver.png
"Even..."
Origin: Pokémon Lost Silver (Hidden Route)
Pokédex Entry: Certain Pokémon have been able to hear the muffled screams and wails this trainer does. When they hear it, their faces are filled with fear.

Gold’s rival when he was alive. This version of Silver from Pokémon Lost Silver hails from the story's fangame, more specifically its Hidden Route. It would seem that standing at the foot of Mt. Silver for only he knows how long to keep his Feraligatr (referred to in this mod as 'Feralisleep') company really hasn't done well for his psyche.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: As if Canon Silver wasn’t enough of a dick, this one will sic his Feralisleep after Boyfriend if you game over in "Insomnia", biting the poor guy’s face off. In an unused animation, he even does this after you win.
  • And I Must Scream: The skin that covers his mouth isn't helping much with watching over his sleeping Feralisleep. In the unused ending animation, he manages to rip it open by force, screaming loud enough to awaken Feralisleep.
  • The Dreaded: To the Pokémon of Mt. Silver. His constant cries of insanity can make them terrified in an instant.
  • Face Framed in Shadow: At no point does the player get a look at his eyes, which are always hidden, although they might just as easily be missing altogether.
  • Foil: Naturally, to Gold. Where Gold is passive and under the control of the Unown, Silver sics his Feralisleep on you as punishment for failing to defeat him. Gold has a Ghostly Gape, while Silver's mouth is partially covered by skin. Gold's Celebi AWAY, a Mythical Pokémon that's been cut down the middle but is no worse for wear, serves as support by lowering your max health multiple times throughout the song, while Silver's Feraligatr Feralisleep, a Starter Mon, is under the effects of the relatively tame Sleep status effect, but when it wakes up, you die.
  • Sanity Slippage: To say Silver’s not all there is a bit of an understatement, as his poses range from pointing wildly at Boyfriend and screaming, to furiously gripping his head with a distressed expression.
  • Sore Loser: An unused victory animation pins him as this, as he wakes up and sics Feralisleep on you if you beat him.
  • Sudden Anatomy: When he's idle, his hands are simply ball-shaped, somewhat resembling his overworld sprite in the Generation II games. For whatever reason, they develop four fingers each whenever he's singing.

    Buried Alive
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fnflullabyburyman.png
"Finally, fresh meat!"
Pokédex Entry: Buried at the top of Pokémon Tower, his attempts to break free from his grave causes subtle but noticeable rumbles throughout the whole tower with anyone inside.

Also known as the Buryman, he’s an allegedly unused zombie trainer from the first generation of Pokémon meant to be fought at the top of Pokémon Tower instead of Mother Marowak that eats the bodies of the trainers that lose to him. Commanding a Gengar, a Muk, and a White Hand, he’s the final challenge Boyfriend must face during his side of the story in his song, “Brimstone”.

    Gengar
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fnflullabygengar.png
"HA HA HA HA!"
The first of Buried Alive's Pokémon to be sent out in "Brimstone", this Ghost-type's just itching to give you and Missingno. the (rap) battle you've been waiting for.
  • Evil Laugh: Gengar enters the battle with quite an impressive one.
  • Flipping the Bird: Gengar does this in his Pokédex image.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Is relatively normal compared to most of the Pokémon opponents featured in this mod, it's just that his trainer is a zombie that devours those who lose to him.
  • Pokémon Speak: While unsurprising in many cases, Gengar holds the distinction of being the only Pokémon in the mod that audibly does this as his voice samples, where others either use their cry from the games, or use a more standard set of "Chromatic Scale" samples.
  • Slasher Smile: Sports an excellent example that he retains throughout his time as an opponent, based on his original sprites in Pokémon Red and Blue & Yellow.

    Muk
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fnflullabymuk.png
Buried Alive's second Pokémon that he sends out after Missingno. defeats Gengar and tags out. For a living, breathing chemical spill, Muk's quite good at rapping, able to keep up with Boyfriend with relative ease.
  • Interface Screw: Muk is able to block out the screen with its sludge to make it harder to judge when trying to hit notes.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Is completely normal compared to most of the Pokémon opponents featured in this mod, it's just that it's trainer is a zombie that devours those who lose to him.
  • Out of Focus: While the only one of Buried Alive's Pokémon to get a dedicated mechanic, it also spends the least time on the field, even having its replacement take the stage before it's done. It was also originally the first Pokemon sent out in the original story.

    White Hand
Buried Alive's third and final Pokémon, a mysterious floating hand. Its preference is disturbing its opponents with its shapeshifting powers.
  • Adapted Out: Partially, at least. Only one of Buried Alive's two White Hands appear.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Appears briefly behind Girlfriend during "Safety Lullaby" as an explanation as to how it knew what she looked like.
  • Humanshifting: Into Girlfriend specifically.
  • Shapeshifter Guilt Trip: Attempts this on Boyfriend on Buried Alive's command, turning into Girlfriend's mutilated corpse to psych him out. Being the Fearless Fool he is, however, Boyfriend isn't fazed by this.

    DISABLED
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fnflullabydisabled.png
"Why can’t I Sing? Why? Why?"
Origin: Disabled
Pokédex Entry: A Wigglytuff received through trade, with its name in all capital letters. It only knew four moves, but all of them were disabled. And so it struggles, and struggles, and struggles, and struggles, and struggles, and struggles, and struggles, and struggles, and struggles, and struggles...

A Wigglytuff with a condition - possibly intentionally inflicted by her previous trainer - that left her seemingly unable to use any of her moves, which results in her inflicting severe physical harm to herself with every attempt, DISABLED is the titular character of the creepypasta of the same name and is the opponent in "Amusia".

  • Abled in the Adaptation: While she can’t Sing, she can sing, but jury’s still out on if she can now use actual moves. Evidently, the act of singing tears the poor thing apart on a metaphysical level.
  • Body Horror: This Wigglytuff isn't like others of its kind; in addition to crying tears of blood, she has a torn left ear and a dull, lifeless colour scheme.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Crosses it in "Amusia", as the final shot of the song has DISABLED stare at the ground, distraught at yet again being denied the ability to Sing.
  • Determinator: A failed one, but she tries over and over again to Sing, even though she hurts herself every time she tries. She even takes control from the player to repeatedly try to Sing.
  • Fictional Disability: It's never explained why, but every time DISABLED tries to use one of her moves, she seriously hurts herself while failing to use the move at all.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: All of her notes are actually misses despite the rule of thumb for AI opponents being they never miss, a sign that something is deeply wrong with her.
  • Glitch Entity: She turns out to be something along those lines, as she starts glitching later on in the fight.
  • Joke Character: Implied. It seems that her original trainer attempted to make DISABLED this... but they had no idea what the consequences were.
  • Madness Mantra: The Pokedex entry above lapses into this, going on longer than what the screen could display.
  • Meaningful Name: Amusia is a condition in which the brain cannot understand musical tones, and DISABLED is especially pointed out as being unable to use Sing no matter how hard she tries.
  • Mission Control Is Off Its Meds: And so it struggles, and struggles, and struggles... repeat infinitum, and that's the last part of her Pokedex entry.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: DISABLED's eyes glow an ominous red.

    Steven
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fnflullabysteven.png
”In a world that cheated me… why should I play fair?”
Pokédex Entry: After the tragic events of his beloved Miki, he wanders from town to town in sorrow and anger. Any Wild Pokémon he comes in contact with completely ignore him.

The Fallen Hero of Pokémon Strangled Red. The champion of the Kanto Region before Blue came along, Steven was once beloved and admired for his efforts by almost everyone he met. However, the tragic loss of his Charizard, Miki, in an accident led him to seek the power of Missingno., which resulted in him losing much of his humanity.

  • Evil-Detecting Dog: Wild Pokémon are stated to avoid and ignore him.
  • Evil Sounds Raspy: Has a pronounced gravelly tone to his voice when he sings.
  • Hidden Eyes: Much like Silver and Red, Steven's depressed state has manifested in the form of this. Unlike either of them, his eyes should be visible, but just aren't. No Eye Scream, no Face Framed in Shadow, just an eyeless face. His eyes reappear near the end of Dissension, once he's got his hand around Mike's neck, and to show just how far he's gone, they're glowing blood red.
  • Love Makes You Evil: A platonic version. After Miki's death in the transfer failure, he becomes a remorseless shell that goes to great lengths to either bring her back or avenge her death.
  • Meaningful Name: Dissension means a disagreement that leads to discord, which can possibly reference the relatively innocuous argument between the two brothers that eventually led to the accident causing Miki's death, which in turn led to Steven killing Mike.
  • One-Winged Angel: Steven transforms into his corrupted form augmented by Missingno. near the end of "Dissension", complete with Red Eyes, Take Warning.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: "Goodbye", said just before he Turns Red and the song kicks into high gear, ending in him snapping Mike's neck.
  • Sibling Murder: Kills Mike by strangling him.
  • Wild Hair: He's spent a long time wandering around the wilderness looking for "IT", letting his hair grow long.

    Purin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cd39e2e9_30f1_480f_9cfc_67a2f55d9437.png
Pokédex Entry: This unknown form of Jigglypuff appears to have a far deadlier Sing ability than usual. Be cautious.

An odd monochromatic Jigglypuff with black and red eyes, along with bloody tears leaking from them. Residing inside an abandoned Pokémon Center, it challenges Pico as the main opponent in the song that shares its name.

  • Body Horror: While it looks like a normal Jigglypuff when idle… that changes when it sings. It's especially clear in its up pose, where it uses three extra hands to hold open its mouth, which is full of skulls.
  • Flayed Alive: Per Word of God, anyone who gets to close to Purin gets their skin torn off after it puts them to sleep.
  • Meaningful Name: "Purin" is the Japanese name for Jigglypuff.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: Unlike the rest of the cast, Purin has no real explanation for what it is. Why is it battling Pico? Why are there a dozen skulls in its mouth (as well as three hands) in its up pose? Who knows? Word of God has stated that the skulls are supposed to belong to children.
  • Obliviously Evil: Subverted. Purin has killed many people that got to close to it, and although it isn't inherintly malicious, it's aware what it's doing, it just doesn't think about it much.
  • Start of Darkness: Word of God is that Purin became murderous after discovering the death of the Nurse Joy that it assisted.
  • Tragic Monster: Its down pose shows it looking visibly upset as it clutches its head, and its left pose shows that the eyes don't actually belong to it, implying that it may not be an instigator so much as a victim of something that took root inside it.

    Beelze & Hell Bell
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/beelz_and_hb.png
Origin: Hell Bell
Pokédex Entry: A Bronzong with all its stats saying 666. Upon receiving it through trade, a piece of mail was attached to it, the owner's name being "Beelze".

The antagonists of a Pokemon Pearl creepypasta named after the latter. A mysterious Gentleman trainer that had been looking for his Shiny Bronzong after the two were separated. Beelze serves as the main opponent in "Death Toll", while Hell Bell provides support for him by ringing its tolls to drain the player's health.

  • Adaptational Abomination: Hell Bell was just a shiny Bronzong with ridiculously high stats that could never be achieved in normal gameplay under even the best conditions in the original pasta. This Hell Bell looks a lot more inhuman, with claws and human teeth, and the power to heavily damage you should you not block your ears, implying that it's not just a Bronzong that could only exist in the realm of hacking this time around.
  • Adaptational Dye-Job: Bronzong are normally a grayish green, with shiny ones being more of a lime green. Hell Bell, however, is purple, though that's the least weird thing about it.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: He will claim Boyfriend's soul regardless of how well you do, as the last half of the song has him writing Boyfriend's name down one letter at a time until he's completely replaced Dawn in the game.
  • Deal with the Devil: He claims to want your name written down so he can thank the player for returning Hell Bell, but makes them write it down on a contract that gives him their soul.
  • Dual Boss: "Death Toll" has you fight both of them at once. Beelze does the singing, while Hell Bell reduces your HP if you don't block its tolls.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Beelze does genuinely seem to care for Hell Bell, and the feeling is reciprocated.
  • Evil Old Folks: Beelze looks like a middle-aged man, being based on the Gentleman trainer class, and wants to steal the player's soul via tricking them into signing a Deal with the Devil.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Beelze wants to thank Boyfriend for finding and returning him his Hell Bell, but he just so happens to do so by writing his name down on a contract that gives Beelze full ownership of his soul, dragging him into the game.
  • For Doom the Bell Tolls: Hell Bell is a demonic Bronzong, which is known as the Bronze Bell Pokémon, and you need to press and hold the space bar whenever it chimes, lest you suffer heavy health loss.
  • Louis Cypher: Beelze's name is three letters short of Beelzebub, one of many names for The Devil.
  • Number of the Beast: All of Hell Bell's stats are set to 666, making it an absolute Master of All.
  • Odd Name Out: Both Beelze and Hell Bell are odd compared to the rest of the cast: Beelze is the only humannote  opponent character (other than Alexis) to not be a protagonist or a rival, and Hell Bell is the only Pokémon opponent not from Pokémon Red and Blue outside of Unown and Celebi, instead being a Pokémon from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Hell Bell is a purple, demonic Bronzong with extremely powerful stats.note
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: As the song continues, he begins to pull Boyfriend's soul into the game with every letter he signs onto the contract.

    Glitchy Red
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20392179_17e2_44b2_8cac_75023cf33e19.png
"Am I a joke to you?"
Origin: Pokemon Glitchy Red
Pokédex Entry: A misfortunate trainer designed to be wronged by his creator, forever trapped in a box, to be forgotten and replaced by the next generation.

The player character from the creepypasta of the same name where he achieved sentience and has a bone to pick with the player for trying to glitch the game. Taking the form of a more serious Red, he's out for anyone who messes with the world he's trapped in, but there may be more to him than meets the eye...

  • Finishing Stomp: In his intended death screen, he would have trapped Boyfriend in the Gameboy alongside Girlfriend and stomp it into a mess of plastic shards and blood.
  • Fourth-Wall Observer: This Red is painfully aware of his status as a video game character in a franchise that doesn't have a singular primary protagonist, and sees it as him being thrown away, and even replaced when it comes to FireRed and LeafGreen. He also appears to know about the player, specifically if they've played a leaked build, calling them out on it.
  • Glitch Entity: His existence is the result of Pokemon Red's infamously buggy nature sparking in the right way to grant him sentience. Adding to this, the screen gets a glitchy effect whenever the player views his Pokedex entry.
  • Little "No": He gives one of the "dismissive and defiant" variety in the middle of "Isotope", before the second half starts, like he does in the original pasta, when the player tries to make him do something he doesn't want to.
  • Meaningful Name: An isotope is an atomic bond between two elements that have the same number of protons, but differing neutrons, and are often radioactive and unstable. The song "Isotope" is about an unstable being that feels he's been replaced by someone similar, but not the same, to him and has become an emotional time bomb over the thought.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: He calls out any player who's played a leaked build of the game, saying that they've ruined the fun, so he'll ruin theirs.
Glitchy Red: You just had to ruin it, didn't you? Just had to ruin all the fun and spoil everything... Just to make things even, since you ruined our fun... I think it's appropriate to ruin yours...
  • Tragic Monster: Being left to rot inside a glitched cartridge and forgotten by the world at large doesn't help much with his issues. On top of that, he's sentient, so he feels every bit of pain that players put him and the world he resides in through. Is it any wonder why he snapped?
  • Tranquil Fury: Downplayed. While his facial expression in the second half has him look psychotically angry, his tone of voice is measured and calm. It creates an unsettling contrast between the jerky, glitchy poses he has, which have him look like he's screaming at the top of his lungs, and the soft-spoken, serene but still livid words coming out of his mouth.

    Lord X & MX
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gamble_x.png
"WELCOME BACK! REMEMBER THIS?"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fnflmxstaticidle.png
"INNOCENCE DOESNT GET YOU FAR"
Pokédex Entry (Lord X): A sinister entity comprised solely of VOID energy, doing whatever it likes so long as it satisfies them. Seems like an innocent game of cards, but things are sure to turn deadly.
Pokédex Entry (MX): This maniac version of Mario resides within an NES Mario cartridge with the sole purpose of torturing the soul of an innocent child. Although today, he's just here to play some cards.

Two other rather popular figures from fangames based on Creepypastas, Lord X and MX are Hypno's opponents in a game of Uno depicted in "Pasta Night".

  • Adaptational Dye-Job: Lord X is based on his appearance in Vs Sonic.exe 2.0, but retains the "X" shaped marks in his eyes from his canon design that the Vs. Sonic.exe mod lacks.
  • Affably Evil: The two of them are very, very bad creatures, but they do play a good game of Uno. Lord X in particular plays completely fair, compared to MX and Hypno, who cheat using a POW Block and their pendulum respectively.
  • And Now for Someone Completely Different: You can play as any one of the three between these two and Hypno in "Pasta Night."
  • Badass Normal: Lord X doesn't use any gimmicks against MX or Hypno, and so each of them only handles one mechanic while Lord X has to contend with both at the same time. He's still just as likely to win as the other two.
  • Challenge Run: Playing as Lord X is this; Pasta Night can be beaten with any of the three characters, but Hypno will only need to contend with MX's POW Block and MX will only need to contend with Hypno's pendulum. Lord X, however, will need to contend with both, making him essentially the most difficult character to play as.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: If the player is playing as Lord X for the song and manages to beat it, then this trope applies to MX, as well as Hypno, as ultimately their cheating didn't aid them in winning the game of Uno. Banbuds himself even said in a QnA that Lord X was the most likely winner due to him playing fair.
  • Fair-Play Villain: Lord X. Sadistic Eldritch Abomination though he may be, cheating is apparently beneath him, as he is the only player who doesn't use any sort of special ability when not being played as.
  • Good Smoking, Evil Smoking: MX has a lit cigarette in his mouth.
  • Interface Screw: MX will occasionally hit the POW Block on his side of the table if not being played as, switching Hypno or Lord X's note bar from top to bottom.
  • Those Two Guys: In contrast to the rest of the mod, they're just here to have some fun together.
  • Villainous Friendship: With each other and Hypno.
  • Villains Out Shopping: These two demonic abominations, as well as Hypno, play Uno.

    Shinto/Shitno
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shitnowide.png "SHINTO SO COOL!!!!"
(Click here to see "Shitno" appearance.)
Pokédex Entry (Shinto): SHINTO SO COOL!!!! SHINJTO NOT FROM BOOT LEG GAME BUT FROM REAL ONE!!!! PLAY WITH ME???
Pokédex Entry (Shitno): Her name is actually Shinto, but due to the fact that it's not possible to beat her in the game she's from, players nicknamed her 'Shitno.' The only way to capture her would be to use a hacked copy and go beyond the glitched difficulty cap. But you don't want to do that...

A bootleg version of Hypno with a goofy smile... and a dark secret. Although she's unbeatable, certain players can hack the game and catch her, which has drastic consequences. She's faced off as the main opponent in "Shinto" and "Shitno".

  • Berserk Button: As the cutscene before "Shitno" reveals, she absolutely hates cheaters, primarily due to the fact that due to shoddy programming making her Unintentionally Unwinnable, the only reasonable way to beat her is to cheat.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Shinto initially appears as a small, goofy yellow creature that's only mildly uncanny, and will gladly sing with you. She also opts to simply leave the player behind after laughing at them should they get a game over in "Shinto". After being caught and accusing the trainer of cheating, she becomes deadly serious.
  • Cerebus Syndrome: Her first song is against a goofy little bootleg Hypno, with its Freeplay icon just being a gif of her dancing. Upon being caught, she drops all pretenses of comedy in order to punish you for "cheating," turning into an uncanny 3D model out for Grey's blood. The Freeplay icon of "Shitno" is just her swinging her face in front of Grey, though, which heavily undersells how seriously mad she is.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: Invoked by her Berserk Button of cheaters, and regardless of winning or losing against her in "Shitno", she will make sure that Grey pays for it.
  • Evil Laugh: Not really evil, but she laughs at Grey if he loses to her during her first song before running away. She has another one that qualifies a little more in her second song as she appears in her 3D form after Grey captured her, making roughly the same sort of laughing noise but her body language and how much deeper it is make it clear she's not childishly taunting Grey or laughing from sadistic joy and she's actually furious.
  • Fan Nickname: In-Universe. Her real name is Shinto, but due to her being Unintentionally Unwinnable, fans call her "Shitno".
  • Foil: To Missingno. Both are infamously buggy figures of their respective games that were never intended as they are, but couldn't be more different. Missingno's glitchyness is a byproduct of just plain not being intended to exist, and naturally isn't needed to progress, but it's still a Pokémon with all the same core rules to it, including being much friendlier when caught and ultimately helps Boyfriend in his fight against Buried Alive. Shinto is the boss of a bootleg Pokémon game that was lazily thrown together and rendered impossible due to her non-existent capture rate, and she developed one hell of a superiority complex as a result, becoming more violent if caught and fighting against Grey to mend her own pride.
  • Game Within a Game: Comes from a bootleg Pokémon game in-universe.
  • Intentional Engrish for Funny: Her first Pokédex entry above, due to being from a bootleg, which are rather infamous for engrish, if they're translated at all.
  • Joke Character: As stated by Adam in the upload for Shinto, she initially started off as a joke in development, before shifting into an actual character.
  • Lethal Joke Character: She might seem like a goofy Joke Character at first, but her second song "Shitno" is quite a challenge even without the sprite-loading gimmick, and she successfully kills Grey even in defeat.
  • Malicious Misnaming: Several players came to call her "Shitno" for her Unintentionally Unwinnable battle.
  • Meaningful Name: "Shinto" refers to the Japanese religion centered around the belief that all living and inanimate beings hold a sacred power in them that grows stronger in response to their experiences. Shinto is a seemingly harmless creature that has become an unstoppable superboss due to shoddy coding. "Shitno", while initially made just to insult her in-universe, also refers more to what you'll likely be shouting in terror when she's enraged.
  • Mirthless Laughter: Despite her Evil Laugh in Shitno, it's clear from her poses that Shinto's laughter isn't from humour, nor is it to taunt Grey (although it certainly serves that purpose as well), but is out of nothing but sheer, unbridled rage.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Her sprite in Shitno is a 3D model, which is different from the rest of the mod’s cast either being in the normal Friday Night Funkin' style or 16 to 32 bit sprites.
  • Original Generation: She is the only opponent in the mod to be a completely original character, as all the others originated from pre-existing creepypastas.
  • Phonýmon: Exaggerated. Many of her game's elements are just palette-swaps of Pokemon's assets, and even those that aren't would be pretty hard to defend in court.
  • Ship Tease: Her and Coronation Day Peach are flirting in the background of Pasta Night.
  • Shoddy Knockoff Product: Coming from a bootleg, this is a given. She looks like a Hypno, but with a much goofier face and without a pendulum or neck fur.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: The Pokédex has her claim that she's not from a bootleg game but a real one. She also lists her weight as "NOT FAT."
  • Taking You with Me: An unfinished mechanic for "Shitno" is that she'd corrupt the game by loading sprites in. At the end of the song, she'd have started loading a ton of sprites to overload and crash the console, killing both herself and Grey.
  • Uncanny Valley: Her sprite in Shitno seems to be an intentional example, with her being an incredibly detailed 3D model in comparison to the 32 bit nature of the rest of the cave.
  • Unintentionally Unwinnable: In-universe, she's apparently unbeatable. The only way to catch her is to cheat, but…
  • Weight Woe: Implied. Her weight is simply listed as "NOT FAT."

Player Characters

    Blake
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fnflullabyblake.png
"Mother... it feels so cold... I can't go on..."
Pokédex Entry: Determined and filled with hope, this trainer's ignorance gets to him and the Pokémon he loved. His Typhlosion's last breath will be Gold's burden of thinking before acting, even in death.

Another version of the trainer from the second generation of Pokémon, and the protagonist of Easter Egg - Snow on Mt. Silver, who died from the cold of Mount Silver's summit and Freakachu's assault on him during a battle against Red. He is the player character who faces off against Red in "Frostbite".

  • An Arm and a Leg: His artwork on the Pokédex shows him missing his right arm and left leg, with the missing arm clearly visible during "Frostbite".
  • The Beastmaster: Just like his opponent Red, he used to be this. By the time he reaches the peak of Mt. Silver (and by extent, the song "Frostbite"), only his Typhlosion is shown to be even remotely alive, while the rest of his team is presumed to be killed by the frost and snow of the mountain.
  • Canon Welding: His story is that of Lost Silver's Gold before dying.
  • Chest Burster: From what we can see in his unfinished Game Over screen, he suffers this courtesy of Freakachu burrowing into his back and then bursting out of his chest.
  • Composite Character: Blake and Gold's stories are wrapped into one another during the Lost Silver story mode, presumably due to the similarities of the male trainer in Gold & Silver that chose Cyndaquil, and losing body parts as he climbs Mt Silver to face Red. Despite having a different name in his origin creepypasta, his Pokedex entry calls him "Gold".
  • Death of a Child: Like his counterpart Gold and his opponent Red, he's not even 13 and he's almost certain to die in the cold of Mt. Silver. Given the revelation of his original story, Blake is already on the verge of dying. You even get to fight his post-humous state.
  • Face–Heel Turn: After his death, he becomes a mere puppet under the Unowns' possession.

    Ponyta
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/my_little_ponyta.png
"Ponyta is frozen in fear. It can no longer escape from battle."
Origin: Disabled
Pokédex Entry: It is a weak runner immediately after birth. It gradually becomes faster by chasing after its parents.

A regular Wild Pokémon unfortunate enough to encounter a Wigglytuff suffering from a bizarre and terrifying affliction. Ponyta is the player character that faces off against DISABLED in "Amusia".

  • Deer in the Headlights: As the above quote states, Ponyta is frozen in fear and cannot escape from the battle.
  • Nice Guy: Seems to be this if the freeplay animation for "Amusia" is anything to go by, staying by DISABLED's side despite obviously being terrified.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Like with the original creepypasta, it's only towards the end of the "battle" — which is the end of the playable portion of "Amusia" here — when Ponyta manages to escape from DISABLED, leaving the latter to fall into the Despair Event Horizon.
  • Token Good Teammate: The only Pokémon in the mod that is completely normal.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: In a unique way, with DISABLED. The freeplay animation used for "Amusia" even has it watch over DISABLED as she tries to Sing and stay by her side like a true friend, even though it is clearly fearful of her rage.

    Mike
I'm so sorry...
Steven's younger brother and rival. He wanted to borrow Steven's Charizard to complete his Pokedex, but unknowingly sets off a chain reaction that dooms them both. Mike is the player character who fights against Steven in "Dissension".
  • Doomed by Canon: No matter how well you do, Steven still ends up snapping Mike's neck.
  • Through the Eyes of Madness: After the first few minutes of "Dissension", Mike appears as a creepy version of himself with Black Eyes of Evil and a Slasher Smile, which is heavily implied to be a hallucination of Steven's warped mind.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: He wanted to borrow Miki for at most a single minute to register a Charizard for his Pokedex, but a trading failure causes her to die and sends his older brother on a path of grief-stricken desperation that warps him into a monster before turning his rage onto Mike.

    Pico
The mascot of Newgrounds, dragon of the Dearests, and possible ex of the Boyfriend. For whatever reason, he's wandering a run-down Pokémon Center before coming across a rather peculiar Jigglypuff. He is the player character for "Purin".
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: If the blurred-out teaser of Pico’s inclusion in this mod is anything to go by. Should Pico lose against Purin, all of his limbs and head will be violently separated from his body. The proper game over screen that was unused has his body gruesomely mutilated instead, with Purin's silhouette looming over what remains of his corpse. Opting to continue will reverse this and have Pico wake up in shock. Choose the option to quit, however, and you're in for a nasty surprise.
  • Guns Akimbo: Averted. Unlike the base game, Pico only has a knife to protect himself against Purin instead of the dual Uzis he usually has.
  • Hero of Another Story: While Girlfriend fends off Hypno by the forest, Pico is a few yards away dealing with the horrors inside the abandoned Pokémon Center.

    Dawn
The female protagonist of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl with her appearance taken from Pokémon Platinum, having just received a strange Shiny Bronzong named Hell Bell. She serves as the player character for the first half of "Death Toll", with Boyfriend taking her place once Beelze finishes signing his Deal with the Devil.
  • Adaptational Deviation: Dawn's outfit throughout "Death Toll" is based on her appearance in Pokémon Platinum, even though the original creepypasta took place during Pokemon Diamond.
  • Cast as a Mask: As Beelze's contract is filled out, it's revealed Dawn is ultimately the player character of Boyfriend.
  • Children Are Innocent: Considering that Dawn is Just a Kid, she had no idea who Beelze really was.
  • Decoy Protagonist: We're led to believe that we're playing as Dawn in "Death Toll", but by the second half of the song, she ends up being replaced by Boyfriend entirely. Justified due to Boyfriend playing as her and Beelze hunting for the soul of the player rather than their character.
  • Digital Avatar: In-Universe, to Boyfriend.
  • Fading Away: She slowly gets replaced with Boyfriend in this manner once the latter's name slowly gets signed onto the contract. She also slowly gains BF's clothing coloration nearing the contract's completion; her beanie turning pink (almost red like BF's cap) and her hair becoming a lighter blue (BF's hair color).
  • The Smurfette Principle: Alongside Alexis, Dawn is one of the only playable freeplay characters to be female.

    Alexis (Spoiler Character

Alexis

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alexis_6.png
"It's gonna be okay..."
Hypno’s original trainer who took her own life after constant bullying and harassment from the people around her. She appears as a ghost during the second half of “Bygone Purpose”, serving as the player character for the rest of the song.

    Grey
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/getawayfrommeyoufreak.png
"Get away from me you freak!"
Pokédex Entry: Rumors say the developers that created this character couldn't be bothered to code him, so they trapped the soul of a dead kid in it and called it a day.

The protagonist of an unnamed bootleg Pokémon game that Shinto is from, and he's rumored to be possessed by a dead child.

  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Shinto corrupts and crashes the game, with Grey and the Child's Soul still trapped inside it.
  • Expy: Given that's he's the soul of a real person who was forced into a bootleg game cartridge, it's likely that Grey represents the many, many instances of characters in video game Creepypastas happening to have the same origin story.
  • Fate Worse than Death: As if a dead child's soul being trapped in a bootleg Pokémon game wasn't bad enough, the end of "Shitno" implies that it only gets more horrid, with Grey being trapped in a Poké Ball by Shinto to make him feel trapped in the same way she did. Subverted by the reveal of the would-be gimmick Shinto would've used against him, which would cause the game they both resided in to crash and kill them both at once.
  • Haunted Technology: Is apparently possessed by a dead child… because the developers couldn't be bothered to properly program him.
  • Powered by a Forsaken Child: The devs of the game he's stuck in were so lazy that they just stuck a child's soul in the game as the player character and called it a day.

Other

    Please
A freezing Typlosion who served as Blake's starter Pokémon and the only one to stay alive throughout his final days at Mt. Silver. It's more than happy to go down fighting the Kanto Region's Champion, Red, though it certainly won't last long in the cold. PLEASE serves as the limited counter to the main mechanic in "Frostbite", with Blake using whatever remains of his flames to keep himself warm.
  • Body Horror: Not as much compared to the others, but the trope still applies. It's missing an eye and has many exposed wounds that are slowly freezing, along with its skin being a deathly pale.
  • Composite Character: Though it isn't to the same extent as Away. Please takes the appearance of the Typlosion used during Easter Egg - Snow on Mt. Silver, while its evolutionary family is the same as Hurry the Cyndaquil, who originated in Pokémon Lost Silver.
  • Doomed by Canon: Regardless of the player's performance, Please will always die from two options: losing its flames from trying to warm Blake up or getting savagely murdered by Freakachu along with its trainer.
  • Undying Loyalty: No matter what situation they find themselves in, Please stays by Blake's side no matter what. Even in the face of death.

    Freakachu
Pokédex Entry: It keeps its tail raised to monitor its surroundings. If you yank its tail, it will try to bite you.

The trusty partner Pokémon of the Kanto Region's Champion, Red, who stayed by his side during his isolation period on Mt. Silver. It's now completely insane and has a more horrifying appearance, but it still stays loyal to his trainer and helps him out during the second half of "Frostbite". Or is it?

  • Body Horror: It has no eyes, has lost its left ear, right arm, and all the skin and muscle of its right leg, leaving behind only the bone. A portion of its tail is also missing, as are various portions of its skin, showing the decaying muscles and organs underneath.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Inflicts this on Blake if he loses to Red during "Frostbite", digging itself into his back before ripping itself out from his abdomen.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Implied. Judging by how it gives a Jump Scare at the end of "Frostbite" along with Blake's screams beforehand, this thing may have been responsible for Blake falling into the Unowns' eyes, becoming their puppet as Gold, and the rest of the Lost Silver story mode by extension.
  • Jump Scare: Does this twice - first is when it's sent out from its Poké Ball before screeching, and the second is when it makes an ear-piercing screech once the song ends. Given that the ending screen of the original creepypasta revolves around it and how the hack made its players go insane, the death of Blake is inevitable.
  • Killer Rabbit: It's gone sadistically feral, gleefully biting itself so hard that it's torn a limb off just to use Pain Split.
  • Slasher Smile: Its skin has completely decayed on the mouth, showing this with its sharp teeth.
  • Your Mind Makes It Real: Seems to be on the giving end. Red's first form during "Frostbite" is implied to be a figment of Blake's imagination, but once Freakachu comes out, the illusion stops, exposing what really happened to Red.

    Feralisleep
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fnflullabyferaligatr.png
(...WHERE?)
Origin: Pokemon Lost Silver (Hidden Route)
Pokédex Entry: When it bites with its massive and powerful jaws, it shakes its head and savagely tears its victim up.

Silver's loyal but brutal Pokémon that was afflicted with the Sleep status effect thanks to a battle with Gold earlier. While you don't get to fight him, you'd be wise to not wake him up; you won't like what's next if that happens.

  • Attack Animal: Silver sics him on Boyfriend when Feralisleep wakes up, ripping off his head.
  • Body Horror: As in the Hidden Route, this Feraligatr is missing his fins and seemingly his eyes. Getting a Game Over in "Insomnia" reveals that his eyes are still there, but he has to rip his flesh over his eye sockets open to see.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Gives one to Boyfriend if he fails "Insomnia"; it wakes up, gives pursuit, and then bites his head in half.
  • Deep Sleep: Zig-Zagged. While the rap battle fails to wake it up, it will wake up if you're singing bad for too long or when Silver screams at it to attack Boyfriend.
  • Foregone Conclusion: As seen in the unused ending for "Insommnia", Feralisleep will always wake up no matter what Boyfriend does, killing him by Silver's command. This directly leads into his encounter with Gold in "Monochrome".
  • Meaningful Name: This Feraligatr is almost always asleep.
  • Never Smile at a Crocodile: The Totodile line is based off of crocodiles, and this specific one brutally kills Boyfriend for waking it up.
  • Sleepy Head: It's asleep throughout Boyfriend and Silver's match. Thank god it is.

    Nurse Joy
Pokédex Entry: This kind-hearted Nurse Joy is a Pokémon caretaker found in an abandoned Pokémon Center. She'll do anything for her precious little Pokémon... Anything at all.

Yes, one of ''many'' Nurse Joys from the Pokémon series... except this one appears to be more terrifying than the others. It seems that she's more than happy to keep the Pokémon she takes care of smiling... and they are more than happy to return the favor. While she isn't an opponent for you to battle, another Nurse Joy's shadow can be seen Hanging Around in the background during "Purin".

  • An Arm and a Leg: The corpse of the Nurse Joy in "Purin" is notably missing her left hand and foot. Each of the spectating Pokémon also gets this treatment in some way.
  • Body Horror: Audino, Misdreavus, Cubone, Purin, Charmander, Duskull, and Clefable are all subjected to this, having mutilated bodies of differing varieties. The Nurse Joy seen in the Pokédex also suffers from this, having a widened jaw and a more horrifying body.
  • Driven to Suicide: The fate of the Nurse Joy seen in the background throughout "Purin", having hanged herself due to some of the Pokemon in the center dying under her care.
  • Ghostly Gape: To say that her mouth is big would be an understatement.
  • The Unfought: Despite having a Pokédex entry, Nurse Joy is never fought in any compacity.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: The Purin Pico fights in its eponymous song? That was Nurse Joy's partner. Before she hanged herself, she tried to push Purin away so that it wouldn't be sad at her death, but eventually Purin did find out, which led to it becoming a murderer and eventually the fight with Pico.
  • Yandere: The Pokédex's Nurse Joy will do anything for the Pokémon she takes care of. Anything.

    Miki
SNAP!

A female Charizard who was Steven's starter Pokémon, being the Pokémon he cherishes the most. After a trading accident with Mike ended up in her untimely demise, Steven fell into a year-long spiral of depression, though he later began to hunt down Missingno. after realizing its glitch-like properties could bring her back. After violating the nature of the Pokémon world, Miki had indeed returned to life... but not in the way a now-crazed Steven had imagined.

  • Back from the Dead: But it's not in the way one would think.
  • Body Horror: From what we can see of her head, Miki has no eyes, her left socket is noticeably scarred, bits of her forehead are ripped off to expose parts of her brain, her snout is a discolored crimson, her rotting skin is losing its orange color, and the right ear has decayed away to show a bloodied bone.
  • Came Back Wrong: Missingno. brings her back, but with the name "M@*#." The end of her game describes her as "horribly glitched."
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Getting your neck snapped during a trading process would do that to you.
  • Dead Sidekick: For Steven. Her death sends him into a depression that he never conquered.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: She and Mike's Blastoise were part of a routine Pokémon trade for their trainers to complete their Pokédexes. It went beyond wrong.
  • Inexplicably Awesome: Unlike most of the Charmander line, she evolved earlier than any of her species could, with the added benefit of being unusually powerful and resistant to all super-effective moves.
  • Leet Lingo: Once Steven used Missingno. to bring her back from the afterlife, Miki's name was changed to "M@#$."
  • The Lost Lenore: To Steven. Everything he does during his search for "IT" was just so he could bring her back. And it worked.
  • The Unfought: She's never once fought during the mod, with only her malformed head peeking out from the darkness during the game over screen for "Dissension".
