Weirdest Fanfiction Ideas That You've Ever Had

Back at it again with the light-Xenofiction AUs for anime, some fan art I saw inspired me to start thinking "What if JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but cats?" It wouldn't be a Warrior Cats fusion, but some influence is definitely there because the fan art that inspired it was. Problems are, cats don't exactly have technology or the means to go on globe-trotting adventures. I call it "JoJo no Kitmew nya Boukat". For this reason, dragons might be easier to work with.

I feel quite hypocritical because fanfics that retell canon in a different setting are boring to read, but I find them fun to play around with.

I wrote a couple of Doctor Who fanfics which tried to reveal the Tenth Doctor's farewell to Sarah Jane Smith in "School Reunion" was in reality some reverse psychology Gallifreyan wedding ceremony. I even tried to explain Sarah attempting to marry someone on Earth later in the tv canon as a moment of weakness on her part as she tired of waiting for her soldier to come home. All those stories can still be found on my FF.Net profile. I regret nothing.

I would like to cite my own work where Big Hero 6 team up with a Knight of the Roundtable Corps to fight crime. So far, they've faced off an Expy of the the Juggernaut, and a rogue Knight who happens to be in league with a PMC called Blackjack.

And yes, the Knight they teamed up with is a descendant of King Arthur. No, I'm not making this up.

Pretty much ANY of my stories can end up like this. Here are some examples:

• A Ninjago Trapped in TV Land story where the main character's evil doppleganger joins the good guys, the Element of Surprise is real, and Season 8 onwards is replaced by dimension-hopping crossover shenanigans, with the arc's climactic battle involving the TARDIS, a flock of Cuccoos, bombing Dark Link, the main character getting turned into a Leafeon, and even more. And then we get to the next generation's story...
• A Breath of the Wild story where all the different Links get sent to, well, Breath of the Wild, as well as a Self-Insert.
• Because of my younger brother breaking the TV screen, I end up in the Pokemon Anime. Specifically, the season based on Sun and Moon.
• A version of me ends up stuck in an empty sub-dimension...as the narrator for the Paper Mario games. And is able to talk with the characters.
• And, last but not least, my two main OCs are an ex-Odd Squad agent named Opal and a Marshadow named Marcos. [Beat] And I SHIP THEM. I don't even know how it happened!

Okay, here's a Harry Potter one I've occasionally considered.

I've come across several stories where, due to plot-related reasons, Harry Prime is no longer available, so somebody (usually Dumbledore) decides to bring a Harry from a parallel Earth. Results may vary, but one thing is certain: the alternate Harry is not simply a copy of the regular one. Whether ultra-powerful, more violent than a Garth Ennis character, etc. But there's one factor all of these stores have: Harry's got magic.

So, what if, when searching for a replacement Harry, the one they get ISN'T magical? Personally, the idea of other!Harry being a Tom Strong/Doc Savage-style Science Hero seems a bit interesting (especially if he's one that's used to alternate universes/parallel Earths/etc.)

In short, a science wiz fighting along people who utilize a "will-based Transmogrification force" would be quite the ride. (I could see Fred and George easily slipping into The Igor role for this version of Harry).

Carrie White is found by Team Flash, and eventually becomes a superhero (she's established to be a Particle Accelerator Meta in this verse, and lives in Central City.) Eventually, Caitlin and Cisco sort of become her surrogate parents.

I've recently wanted to do a crossover with Persona 5, Punch Out!!, and Danganronpa. Idk how or why. Just felt like it was a good idea

An Evita/Evangelion crossover which featured the 01 smashing through the capitol building in a white dress roaring "Don't Cry For Me Argentina". In my defense, this one was deliberately stupid.

This thread actually inspired me. I now have an idea for a Grand Blue fanfic where Jaden Smith (rapper and actor) and Mike Howell from American Ultra join the diving club. Later on, Mike cheats on Phoebe with Chisa and then brainwashes Phoebe into thinking she's a lesbian. Mike then reveals he's been possessed by Dorian from The Picture of Dorian Gray. This is then revealed to be a ruse Mike pulled to get Phoebe to safety in time for the apocalypse and to hide the fact that he's secretly the Messiah. Hopefully, the fic would follow a Random Events Plot and feature a Pixels homage.

I found in my Google Docs some worldbuilding and outlining for a Free! AU fic inspired by Wild Rock. It was set in a fantasy-prehistoric world where human tribes eked out an existence among all kinds of dinosaurs and other ancient beasts. That's definitely a niche premise, but could make for a fun adventure story, right? Well, it also attempted to provide a Meta Origin for Omegaverse via a DNA virus introducing dire wolf genes into humans. This resulted in poor handling of Teen Pregnancy and other sensitive topics, and attempting to integrate blatant fetish content into a (mostly) serious adventure plot. Said plot actually had some potential, involving Makoto, Haru, and Nagisa being cast out of their tribe for being "changed" and picking up Rei soon after. The Samezuka gang, led by an Adaptational Villainy-struck Seijuurou, hunted them. Rin would experience a Heel–Face Turn, Haru received prophetic visions from water... But the rest was all quite Squicky when I went back and reread my plans. Said outlines were filled with gratuitous Tumblr-speak. The icing on the cake was that I was proud enough of this - of this - to share it with all my friends.

A Trails in the Sky fanfic where Estelle and Joshua get their sexes switched by an artifact. They do the deed before turning over the artifact to the Septian Church, who then use it to switch them back. However, Joshua was impregnated and end up having to stick with a female body until after the child is born.

A Total Drama/Pokemon crossover where everyone is trapped in an artificial region and have to capture Pokémon and fight each other to leave.

I also decided to make everyone have rings that turn them into Pokémon. And I didn’t stop there. Duncan is a Phantom Thief, some characters can fuse to become Legendary Pokémon, and Dave turns into Arceus at one point.

A Wild West AU for Attack On Titan, inspired by the Red Dead Redemption games.

So, y'all know the big twist behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier?

Well, I was kinda inspired by that to draw up an idea about the Roundtable Corps (long story short, an elite military force for a British-controlled United Europe and said force's leading council is made of the aristocratic descendants of the original Knights of the Round Table) being completely blindsided by an Ancient Conspiracy that has working to restore Morgana Le Fey. And Tadashi Hamada was somehow alive, and was a brainwashed tool of this conspiracy.

I actually scrapped that, because everyone's already done something about Tadashi being alive somehow. Still, it was fun to think about.

So I've had two really weird ideas for fanfics bouncing around in my head recently and I couldn't settle on which was weirder, so, well, judge for yourselves I guess. Weird thing is that one's really short and one's really long, I'd imagine.

The first idea would probably be a one-shot in execution and is mostly about three characters talking to each other in a vaguely dreamlike environment: Star Butterfly, Edelgard von Hresvelg, and Kreia. I had the initial idea after having the passing thought that (if you use post-timeskip Emperor Edelgard at least) that they form a sort of Mother, Maiden, Crone trio of royalty (Sith Lord might be stretching it for Kreia, I admit) who set out to destroy some source of supernatural power because of it causing widespread inequality and fueling destructive conflicts (magic, crests, and the force) that they want to stop. I'd be this weird inverse character development thing where they all double down on their commitment by the time the conversation is over, and the ending would be the dream(?) as the sound of Hubert and Marco reluctantly working together to look for Edelgard and Star gradually grows closer, while Kreia fades into the darkness alone, having always been content with exile provided her teachings live on in others.

The longer idea is a crossover between Steven Universe and Doctor Who basically starring the original Delgado Master, who arrives in world/timeline/universe as a result of TARDIS damage shortly before the show begins, and is constantly looking to manipulate both the Crystal Gems and the humans of Beach City to get him to the advanced Homeworld tech he needs to repair his TARDIS and get back to fighting The Doctor. I think this idea came out of the fact that The Master is also a ruthless, reprehensible intergalactic conqueror who never the less has a deeply personal emotional connection to a (potentially) half-human All Loving Hero who is inexplicably interested in defending planet earth and whom they'd really like to have back at their side... but of course, for The Master this person is not Steven, so he has no interest at all in playing with or going easy on the Crystal Gems like he does The Doctor. It'd be an interesting challenge to pose to Steven, the idea of The Master deliberately revealing his pained backstory with The Doctor to manipulate the boy with the idea this affection could redeem him, only to be confronted with the fact that the Time Lord genuinely has nothing resembling compassion for anyone else but The Doctor and that Steven will get no easy treatment from him.

As for why I wanted the Delgado Master specifically for this... he's one of my favorites, he's underused in fanfiction, I think the story would benefit from a Master who is much more patient and manipulative than the unhinged Simms, Gomez and Crispy variants. Second pick would probably be Sir Derek Jacobi's War Master. I actually think The Master would fit very well into the source theme of unhealthy relationships, since beyond his complex relationship with The Doctor numerous Delgado stories revolve around The Master easily manipulating himself into trusted positions among humans by appearing charming and charismatic while actually viewing everyone around him as tools to use and discard. I also think his hypnosis would be really effective against Gems, since they're built to be servile and Pearls at least are straight up psychologically programmed to respond to certain commands with absolute obedience.

the short version: mary sue vs mary sue
the long version: an examination and deconstruction of overpowered mary sues. in this fanfic, they're depicted similarly to a virus- mindless, constantly spreading and destructive, and a space-time threat to the multiverse in general. the protagonist, a gary stu who has recognized what they are doing, sets out to hopefully find a cure against this spreading disease.

Let's see... I've done a RWBY fanfic where Ozpin prevented the fall of Beacon by using his Semblance to generate a massive amount of hot chocolate; a Valkyria Chronicles 4 fanfic where it turns out that half the women in Squad E were latent Valkyria, but only awaken after the war is over, which drives Minerva crazy; a Game of Thrones fanfic where Sam, Davos, Brienne and Tyrion murder Bronn and puppeteer his body to try and convince Bran that he isn't dead, and a Fire Emblem: Three Houses fic where the Black Eagles all become My Immortal-style goffs, which turns out to be a contagious condition that Byleth and the Blue Lions have to cure before all of Fodlan (Why can't this forum render the ó right?) is consumed in inane drama and band t-shirts.

As for my weirdest fanfiction idea... Well, I guess the one where I would write Orochimaru from Naruto having birthday celebration done by Mitsuki, mainly because me and Orochimaru shares same birthday.

That or the one time I wrote Naruto trying to capture Easter Bunny.

Basically, it's a crossover of Pokemon and Fallout, complete with mutant Pokemon and characters from both the Pokemon anime and games refitted for the Fallout universe.
