Laugh Of Love / Western Animation

Go To

  • In The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, Cindy sometimes laughs when she's having romantic moments with Jimmy, most notably in the episodes "Love Potion 976/J" and "Stranded".
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender:
    • Aang is a frequent cause of these:
      • In "The Warriors of Kyoshi", Aang's fangirls tend to giggle and squeal when they're with him, much to Katara's jealousy.
      • In "The Fortuneteller", Meng giggles when Aang catches her hands as she accidentally trips while carrying a tray full of snacks, and later when she admits that she's been stalking him.
      • In "The Headband", two Fire Nation girls giggle when Aang, while dancing, gets very close to them before leaping away.
      • He also sometimes laughs when with Katara, who sometimes reciprocates, and they get together at the end of the series.
    • Sokka has a few of these too:
      • Princess Yue tends to laugh when she's with Sokka (and they eventually kiss), but not with her betrothed. Unfortunately, she has to sacrifice herself to save the Moon Spirit in the first season finale.
      • Suki also tends to laugh when she's with Sokka, and their relationship works out much better.
  • Chowder:
    • Panini tends to giggle or laugh on occasion when she's with Chowder, who doesn't return her feelings until the series finale.
    • Two examples in "A Faire to Remember":
      • Chowder and Marmalade tend to laugh as they hang out together, leading a jealous Panini to think that Chowder and Marmalade are together. However, it turns out that they're just friends who happen to share similar interests.
      • Invoked by Panini, who pretends to laugh as she hangs out with Ceviché in an attempt to make Chowder jealous. It doesn't work.
  • Danny Phantom:
    • In "Fanning the Flames", Sam giggles while asking Danny "You really think I'm smart?" after Danny compliments her individuality and intelligence.
    • In "Double Cross My Heart", Sam does this several times around Gregor.
  • Gravity Falls:
    • In "Tourist Trapped", after Mabel flirts with a boy whom she has a crush on and inadvertently knocks him over, she laughs happily.
    • In "The Hand That Rocks the Mabel", Lil' Gideon is attracted to Mabel (who sees him as just a friend) and they tend to laugh when they hang out together, at least until Gideon reveals himself to be utterly psychotic in his attraction to Mabel.
    • In "The Inconveniencing", Dipper chuckles nervously while bidding Wendy goodbye as she leaves with her friends, which results in the following exchange:
      Mabel: Uh-oh!
      Dipper: [defensively] What?
Mabel: [pokes Dipper in his cheek] Somebody's in lo-ove!
    • "The Deep End":
      • When Wendy says that being lifeguard lets her have the best seat in the house, Dipper remarks "Yeah, you do!" and laughs for an overly-long time. Lampshaded when he says in a mortified whisper, "I've been laughing for too long."
      • Mabel laughs and says "You're so funny!" when Mermando, a merman she develops a crush on, jokingly compliments her on her lack of water wings. Soon afterwards, Mermando laughs as she combs his hair, which causes her to think that he likes her.
    • In "Carpet Diem", when Soos (actually Waddles) runs out of the gift shop when a lady stops by to ask for directions, she says "You'll show me the way? [giggles] Such a gentleman!" before following him out. She shows up again at the end of the episode and happily accepts Soos' apparent marriage proposal.
    • A similar instance to the one in "The Inconveniencing" occurs in "Into The Bunker", when Dipper chuckles nervously while talking to Wendy, causing Mabel to tease him about how she thinks that romance is afoot between the two of them. Dipper denies that he still has feelings for Wendy.
    • In "Soos and the Real Girl", both cases involve Soos:
      • Giffany sometimes does a robotic laugh while talking to Soos, at least until he decides to go out with a real girl and she starts going off the rails.
      • Melody also laughs at some of Soos' awkward remarks, which she finds funny.
    • In a Ship Tease moment in "Northwest Mansion Mystery", Pacifica and Dipper laugh happily after they trap the Lumberjack Ghost in a silver mirror, and Pacifica then hugs Dipper. Happens again later while they trash Pacifica's parent's favorite carpet.
    • "Roadside Attraction":
      • When Dipper gives a girl he meets at Log Land a "log on a stick", she giggles before giving him her contact details, and she goes on a log ride with him, which she describes as "romantic" (though the latter incident is only mentioned later in the episode).
      • At the Mystery Mountain, Candy giggles when she lays her head on Dipper's shoulder while they're on their date.
      • Darlene laughs when she's around Stan. She's exploiting it to make him think she's in love with him, in order to lure him into a trap.
    • In "Weirdmageddon Part 2: Escape From Reality", Wendy laughs briefly when talking to Dipper about how they could actually be together in Mabeland. Except it's not the real Wendy.
  • Kim Possible:
    • In "Sink or Swim", Tara giggles before kissing Ron on the cheek at the end of the episode.
    • Kim tends to do this when she's around the guys she has a crush on. She also giggles after her first kiss with Ron in "Emotion Sickness".
    • In "Gorilla Fist", Ron giggles when Yori kisses him on the cheek at the end of the episode, much to Kim's clear jealousy.
  • The Owl House: The only times that Amity is shown laughing is in the presence of her crush Luz. In fact, the very first positive interaction the two ever had was her laughing at one of their jokes.
  • In Phineas and Ferb, Candace tends to giggle a lot when she's around Jeremy. One of her halves created by the molecular splitter in "Split Personality" takes this to new levels, as all she can think about is Jeremy.
  • The Spectacular Spider-Man: Liz tends to do this when she's with Peter:
    • In "Reaction", she and Peter tend to laugh around each other as they grow close to one another.
    • In "Blueprints", Peter chuckles nervously and blushes when Liz hits on him by offering to help him stay warm after he complains about feeling really cold.
    • In "Destructive Testing", Liz giggles after hugging Peter, right before a football match she's cheering for is about to start.
    • "First Steps":
      • After Peter and Liz get together in the previous episode, Liz laughs as she happily grabs Peter by the arm and walks with him to class, with her head on his shoulder. Sally isn't happy with this development, and neither is Gwen.
      • They also laugh together when Kenny holds Glory's hand with his mustard-covered one, much to Flash's envy.
  • In Steven Universe, Steven has romantic laughs with Connie during their moments together, including the first few times they fused.
  • This occurs thrice in the Tom and Jerry cartoon "Smitten Kitten", namely:
    • Tom Cat is sitting beside a pretty kitty and whispers something in her ear. She giggles coyly.
    • Jerry Mouse marches toward Tom, intent on doing him mischief, when he sees a cute girl mouse sitting nearby. Jerry freezes in his tracks, then drops everything to stand beside her. She also giggles coyly.
    • Jerry's Good Angel and Bad Angel get in on the act, as the Bad Angel drools over the cute Good Angel. Cue more coy giggling. In every case, Love Makes You Dumb appears to be in force.
  • Work It Out Wombats!: Mr. E doesn't laugh much, but when he does laugh, one half of it is for ridiculous questions and the other half is when he's around his crush Ellie. For example, he laughs after Ellie tells him that she wants to buy a hat, and chuckles after Ellie thanks him for inviting her to lunch.
  • In the X-Men: Evolution Season Two episode "Joyride", Kitty does this twice during Lance's training with the New Mutants to show her growing feelings for him.
