Recap / Kim Possible S 3 E 10 Gorilla Fist

Go To

When Sensei of Yamanouchi disappears and it appears Monkey Fist is responsible, Yori enlists Ron's help to find him. However, when Kim learns about Ron's new friend who he's never mentioned before, Kim immediately declares that Yori is working for Monkey Fist, clearly refusing to admit that she's jealous. Ron and Yori follow Monkey Fist's trail and Kim follows them, catching them in a zoo where Ron explains what he did at Yamanouchi. Kim accepts Yori's innocence and starts working with Ron and Yori to find Monkey Fist, which they do quite quickly. However, Monkey Fist denies responsibility and claims he was hiding. Suddenly, three giant apes including the titular Gorilla Fist appear and capture Kim, Ron, Yori, and Monkey Fist and take the four of them to Gorilla Fist's hideout, where Sensei is also being held. Gorilla Fist explains that they kidnapped Sensei, framing Monkey Fist, in order for Ron to find him, drawing Gorilla Fist in his wake. Monkey Fist is taken from the other four captives, who are dropped out of their prison cell, but they return to rescue Monkey Fist. During the ensuing fight, Gorilla Fist is revealed to be DNAmy, who manipulated her own body like Monkey Fist's in order to get closer to him. Monkey Fist runs off to escape DNAmy, Yori and Sensei thank Kim and Ron for their assistance, and in Yori's goodbye, it is very clear that Ron doesn't understand girls at all.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Batman Gambit: Gorilla Fist's plan. She kidnapped Sensei and made it look like Monkey Fist did it, knowing that Ron and Yori would search for him, leading her right to her prey.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Kim absolutely flips when she meets Yori, with Monique lampshading it. For added fun, Kim comments that she's always had green eyes. Wade also calls her out for it, and even Ron gets in on it.
  • Continuity Nod: Lampshaded. After Ron tells Kim the truth about Yamanouchi, she mentions a magic sword. Ron realizes she's talking about the Lotus Blade, which he says is so last season and she's gotta stay current.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Kim’s jealous behaviour towards Yori and Ron’s sitch foreshadows Ron’s own behaviour in Kim Possible Movie: So the Drama and hints perhaps Kim feels the same way Ron does about them.
    • Kim also jumps to conclusion, out of jealousy and concern for Ron, that Yori is The Mole working for Monkey Fist and faking attraction towards Ron to trap him. While she is ultimately wrong, Kim herself falls victim to the same plot in So The Drama.
  • Hypocritical Humor:
    • Kim says she knew that Ron crushed on someone during his time at Yamanouchi school. While he did crush on Yori, Kim herself was also crushing on the exchange student, Hirotaka, at the same time.
    • When Kim arrives at Monkey Fist's treehouse after Ron and Yori have already left, she complains about Yori dragging him around the world. Wade smugly points out how familiar it sounds. Kim pouts as she leaves.
  • Jaw Drop: Kim's reaction when Yori kisses Ron on the cheek.
  • Laugh of Love: Ron giggled when Yori kissed him on the cheek at the end of the episode, much to Kim's clear jealousy.
  • Metaphorically True: Kim suspects Yori might be working for Monkey Fist as Ron has the mystical monkey powers which is required for wielding the Lotus Blade. While she is ultimately wrong about Yori, another former student of the Yamanouchi school (Fukushima) does fit the description well.
  • Noodle Incident: When exactly did Monkey Fist try to steal Ron's Mystical Monkey Power?
  • Not Me This Time: Monkey Fist states he didn't kidnap Sensei because "he wasn't of any use to him".
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. This episode reveals there is another student in Middleton High, named “Ron”: Ron Reiger. This episode marked his only appearance until the show was uncancelled and he made a few more appearances in the Post-Script Season.
  • Save the Villain: Kim, Yori, and Ron have to save Monkey Fist.
Ron: So you want to tell me again exactly why we're going back?
Kim: 'Cause it is the right thing to do.
Sensei: (wisely) A weed that never grows does not need to be cut down.
Ron: Hmm, yeah, that's a good gardening tip. So why are we doing this again?
Yori: What Sensei is saying is that even though Monkey Fist is bad, he has not done us wrong this day. It is our honor to save him.
Ron: Oh, we're rescuing the bad guy!
Kim: Yeah, but it sounds better the way he says it.
  • Ship Tease: In addition to Kim's barely-disguised jealousy, there's also her awkward reaction when Ron asks how he's supposed to know when a girl likes him.
  • Sick and Wrong: When Gorilla Fist turns out to be DNAmy, who's genetically modified her body into that of a gorilla so she and Monkey Fist can be together, Ron is especially disturbed by the revelation.
Ron: This goes beyond sick and wrong! It's Wrongsick!
  • Stalker with a Crush: The whole thing turns out to be a scheme by DNAmy to chase down Monkey Fist after he fled from her advances.
    • While Kim denies being jealous of Ron being with Yori, she does make Wade track him down and she personally follows them, erroneously believing that Yori is a villain.
  • Wimp Fight: Monkey Fist and Ron engage in one. Gorilla Fist breaks it up.
  • You Don't Want to Know: This is what Wade says to Kim about what's in mystery meat gravy. He then adds till after graduation... from college.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: After capturing Monkey Fist, Gorilla Fist no longer considers Kim, Ron, Yori and Sensei necessary and sends them down a trap door near a waterfall.
