- There is a Kyuubey mask on display during the festival in the comic.
- Tenshi's keystones homing in on Noriko is a reference to Mami's death scene
- Noriko's Uu~ Uu~'s are a shout-out to Maria Ushiromiya
- Keine: "I'm not icky!"
- Noriko's tantrum during the festival is a heavy reference to a certain scene with Hakase and Nano
- The song Yuuka is singing (Let it Grow) before the vassals appear is from the remade movie
- The way Tenshi activates one of her spellcards may be a shout-out to a certain alchemist-related anime.

- Broken Bird: Yuuka and Noriko's mother, Kasumi.
- Tsun Dere: Yuuka. She even whacked Noriko upside the head when they first met. With her umbrella in the comic, her hands in the Walfa-mation.
- Deer in the Headlights: Alice attempted to kill Yuuka in the festival night by having Shanghai and Hourai approach Yuuka then detonating her dolls. Struck by regret and guilt, Yuuka didn't make any attempt to dodge or block the incoming attack. She was saved by Noriko who damaged Alice's dolls before they detonated.
- Driven to Suicide: Mima's daughter (who killed herself prior to the events of the story). Subverted with Kasumi, Noriko's mother and Yuuka.
- Interrupted Suicide: Mima to Yuuka. Too bad she couldn't save Shinki in time.
- Babies Make Everything Better: Deconstructed with Yuuka. Losing her unborn child AND her love interest drove her insane. So insane, she killed one of her best friends, Shinki.
- Daddy's Girl: Noriko.
- I Miss Mom: Hinted several times with Noriko... and eventually, her dad Saburo. And for crueler example, Alice Margatroid whose mother was dead in a flashback scene.
- I Want My Mommy!: Several times by Noriko. Especially during the fight between Yuuka and Tenshi.
- Mama Bear: If you mess with Noriko, Yuuka will ultimately end you.
- Parents as People: Noriko's dad, Saburo.
- Because of his job as the Lord of the Dragon Palace and his grief from losing his wife, Noriko was left alone for a few years of her childhood.
- The Reveal: Noriko is not only a mermaid, but the Dragon Palace's young princess.
- Oh, No... Not Again!: Said by Yuuka when Tenshi enters the scene, hoping to fulfill her masochistic desires.
- The Cuckoolander Was Right: Mima: "You saw it too, huh? I knew that guy was a pig the minute I saw him."
- Yan Dere: Yuuka ultimately becomes this after finding out Tarou's secret.
