The characters featured in the 2012 Welcome to Care-A-Lot series, and the 2015 Netflix-produced Care Bears & Cousins series.
Main
Tenderheart Bear is the eldest and wisest of the Care Bears. Whether it's advice or understanding, a hug or a nudge, he knows just what kids need to help them share their feelings. His belly badge is perfect for the job: a red heart. The de facto leader of the Care Bears, he was granted the power of teleportation by the Great Giving Bear during the Great Giving Festival. He is Wonderheart Bear's uncle.
- Team Dad: He was already a leader in past incarnations, but because neither True heart bear nor Noble heart Horse appear in this series, Tenderheart is the one who plays this role for the other bears, and above all being a father figure to his niece Wonderheart.
- Verbal Tic: He often begins sentences with "I have/had a feeling."
Cheer Bear is the happiest bear in Care-a-Lot. The resident cheerleader, she often displays a go-for-it attitude, makes up encouraging cheers right on the spot, and spreads joy among all who know her. When not helping her friends, she can often be found tending her garden. Her belly badge is a rainbow. She was once a member of the team, Bear Power.
- Embodiment of Vice: When affected by Grumpy's cloud in "Welcome to Grump-A-Lot", she becomes negative and hateful.
- Gleeful and Grumpy Pairing: With Grumpy, as expected. Not for nothing they names are Cheer Bear and Grumpy Bear respectively.
- Lovable Jock: She often presents herself as a cheerleader and of course she remains the same friendly and supportive little bear as always.
- Opposites Attract: She has a considerable amount of Ship Tease with Grumpy, who is the opposite of her in every way.
- Pink Means Feminine: She is a girly bear whose fur is pink.
- The Pollyanna: Even much more than in past incarnations.
To Funshine Bear, having fun is his number one thing. He is active, athletic and competitive when it comes to sports, cycling, skating, surfing, hiking and hang gliding. Nothing makes him happier than hanging out with friends or going on wild adventures. He makes the brightest of his days with sunny optimism and a flair for being fearless. His belly badge reflects this spirit: a smiling, shining sun. He was a member of the team, Bear Power, and also won the Care Bearathon once.
- Acquired Situational Narcissism: He became arrogant after Cheer gave him confidence,
- Embodiment of Vice: When affected by Grumpy's cloud in "Welcome to Grump-A-Lot", he becomes a Lazy Bum.
- Keet: He is the most energetic and active of the bears.
- Lazy Bum: When affected by Grumpy's cloud in "Welcome to Grump-A-Lot", he becomes this.
- Lovable Jock: He is very good at all kinds of sports at the same time he is a very happy and pleasant bear.
- Platonic Life-Partners: He has a pretty close relationship with Share.
Grumpy Bear's sardonic and often sarcastic attitude usually gives way to his caring nature and heart, not unlike the rain cloud and heart shaped raindrops that make up his belly badge. Grumpy likes to remind kids who are having a bad day that they're always loved, and that it's okay and valid to experience negative feelings such as sadness and anger, as they're simply a normal part of life. He is a master builder and mechanic. He was once a member of the team, Bear Power, is a sports fan who enjoys watching the Honey Bowl, and is a big eater.
- All Guys Want Cheerleaders: Possibly by Cheer Bear, which is often shown as such, although this does not seem to be much to his liking either.
- Big Eater: Is always seen talking about wanting to eat something. His sweetest dreams involve a cabinet that produces never-ending food.
- In "When the Bear's Away...", when muffins are passed out, he somehow ends up with two. He also fantasizes about attending a cheese convention and throwing a party with lots of snacks. In the next episode, he mentions his schedule for a day as involving eating and napping.
- Gleeful and Grumpy Pairing: With Cheer, as expected. Not for nothing they names are Cheer Bear and Grumpy Bear respectively.
- Opposites Attract: He has a considerable amount of Ship Tease with Cheer, who is the opposite of him in every way.
- Personal Raincloud: He can use his belly badge to generate one and often does.
- Ship Tease: He has moments of this with Cheer.
- Supreme Chef: Totally careless when it comes to baking but their desserts are surprisingly delicious, so much so that they even surpass those of Share.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Notably much more abrasive in Care Bears & Cousins.
- Uptight Loves Wild: He's The Smart Guy grump, who has many Ship Tease moments with the cheerleader and Genki Girl Cheer Bear.
Harmony Bear sings, acts, and plays every instrument. Behind her sassy, sometimes diva-like exterior is a natural leader who is all about encouraging others to do their best, especially through music. Her belly badge has the power to magically fix broken instruments and can also alert her of someone in trouble from a distance. She was once a member of the team Bear Power.
- Attention Whore: Has her moments.
- Embodiment of Vice: When affected by Grumpy's cloud in "Welcome to Grump-A-Lot", she becomes an angry and narcissistic diva.
- Graceful Ladies Like Purple: The most feminine and vain bear of the group whose fur color is purple.
- Idol Singer: She is represented as the bear with the best voice in Care-a-Lot and often organizes acts and music videos.
- Lovable Alpha Bitch: Has many nuances of this. She is very vain and proud of her excellent singing voice, with some tendencies to be bossy and perfectionist but otherwise is still a kind bear who is very willing to help children, even those who are more troublesome.
If Share has it, she'll share it with anyone. Carefree and loving, Share Bear is happiest whenever she's with her friends, serving tea or baking. She has a penchant for baking treats. She lives in a tree house in the Forest of Feelings.
- Always Second Best: She spent an entire episode trying to make better desserts than Grumpy.
- Embodiment of Vice: When affected by Grumpy's cloud in "Welcome to Grump-A-Lot", she becomes selfish.
- Feminine Women Can Cook: She is generally feminine and is very good at baking and cooking.
- Friend to All Living Things: Especially because of her Speaks Fluent Animal.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Like in Care Bears: Adventures in Care-a-Lot, she is surprisingly prone to jealousy.
- It's All About Me: Once again, an ironically notable trait of hers.
- Platonic Life-Partners: She has a pretty close relationship with Funshine.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: With a specialization in birds. Apparently it's a belly badge power.
- Supreme Chef: She is very good at baking and making desserts, which is why she can't believe that someone as inexperienced in this hamburger as Grumpy can cook better than her.
Although the one of the youngest Care Bears, Wonderheart always want to take part in "big bear" adventures. She's playfully curious and never short on questions. Her belly badge features a heart within hearts motif, though it is currently rendered inactive and she doesn't initially know its full power. She is often seen carrying a stuffed bunny named Floppy Bunny and is sometimes referred to by the nickname "Little Wonder." She's the niece of Tenderheart Bear.
- Character Catchphrase: "I wonder..."
- Cheerful Child: Has quite an upbeat attitude.
- Companion Cube: A stuffed bunny named Floppy Bunny.
- Constantly Curious: She asks a lot of questions, usually about Belly Badges.
- Contrasting Replacement Character: She's not exactly a "replacement", but Wonderheart is in stark contrast to Shreeky, No Heart's niece on The Care Bears Family. While Shreely was the niece of the show's Big Bad, and a spoiled, self-centered, and abusive brat with Beastly, Wonderheart is the niece of The Leader of the Care Bears, portrayed as a sweet, innocent and lovable child, who constantly shows her affection for other bears and her stuffed bunny Floppy Bunny.
- Cuddle Bug: Tends to declare "Care Hug!" and then give one. One of the most popular toys associated with the Welcome to Care-a-Lot series is a plush version of her that dances and sings a snippet of the song "Care Hugs," the full version of which is available on YouTube.
- Embodiment of Vice: When affected by Grumpy's cloud in "Welcome to Grump-A-Lot", she becomes not-so-cheerful and bitter.
- "I Want" Song: Her song Can't Wait To Be The One talks about how she wants to get early the powers of her belly badge.
- Kid-Appeal Character: She exists mostly to appeal to younger people.
- Little Miss Snarker: Can be at times. After losing "Mossy Bunny" in "In a Flash," she comments "He didn't have much of a personality anyway."
- Morality Pet: Grumpy seems to have a weak point with her.
- Nephewism: No parents are ever even mentioned.
- Not Now, Kiddo: Gets this from time to time.
- Series Goal: Get her belly badge to work like the others and discover its power in return.
- Tagalong Kid: Although she's older than Baby Hugs and Tugs, she still hasn't discovered what her belly badge power holds.
- Verbal Tic: Often begins sentences with "I wonder..."
Villains
King Beastly is a mischievous and arrogant beast who wears a crown and likes to cause trouble in Care-a-Lot. He originates from the 80's cartoon. For that version, see here.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Downplayed, he is less evil and more mischievous and shows his soft side more often.
- Adaptation Dye-Job: He is green instead of brown.
- Anti-Hero: It depends on the episode.
- Art Shift: Looks quite a bit different than he did in the 80's series. He loses the flying cap and looks a bit more like the Cheshire Cat, except green.
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: A massive version appears in "Bearied Treasure".
- Expressive Ears: Carries over from the 80's series.
- Harmless Villain: He only does the things he did because he felt left out of the bears' activities.
- It's All About Me: His main shtick and the main reason why he's an antagonist. He absolutely can't stand not being the center of attention and will act mean or try to ruin stuff if he feels he's not being adored and loved by everyone, or at least being paid attention to.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Has his genuine nice moments.
- Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: Played with. In "Show of Shyness," he just wants to be in the big show, but his attempts to enliven it are misinterpreted as attempts to wreck it and he is also blamed for something that isn't his fault.
Beastly's two minions.
- The Unintelligible: They speak in gibberish not even Share can understand.
Other Care Bears
Amigo Bear speaks in Spanglish and runs his own chili shack.
Two cubs who are younger than Wonderheart and obtain their belly badge powers before her. Hugs is light pink, and Tugs is light blue. They are members of the Cub Bouts, the junior division of the Belly Badge Bouts. Unlike earlier incarnations of the franchise, Tugs' belly badge now features a red heart inside a yellow star, while Hugs' has a yellow star inside a pink heart.
Bedtime Bear is active at night, but sleepy during the day. He visits Wonderheart Bear at night to help her sleep.
- Berserk Button: Being woken up.
- Beware the Quiet Ones: According to Tenderheart, you should NEVER wake him up at daytime, or he will get grouchier than Grumpy Bear, which is very hard to believe for most people.
Best Friend Bear is part of a Belly Badge Bouts team in competition with Cheer, Funshine, Grumpy, Harmony and Share.
Champ Bear is an athletic bear who excels at every sport, and is often in friendly competition with Funshine.
Good Luck Bear is a Care Bear that has an Irish accent. His belly badge gives him the power to provide good luck to others, if only they can capture his attention.
Grams Bear is a grandmother who speaks with a stereotypical southern U.S. regional dialect and accent. She helps Wonderheart draw out her belly badge power and it's revealed that she once did the same for Tenderheart.
- Adaptation Dye-Job: She is turquoise instead of grayish blue.
- Disabled in the Adaptation: She needs glasses while she never did in the 80s.
- Super-Strength: She can move a giant melon with ease.
Great Giving Bear loves presents and is said to be very kind. He delivers presents on Great Giving Day.
- Santa Claus: He's the Care-a-Lot equivalent of this, more or less.

- Those Two Girls: Is commonly seen with Thanks-a-Lot Bear.
- Verbal Tic: She usually whispers when she talks.
