Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

[up] You should bring those suggestions to the dedicated clean-up thread link here.

I'm sure they can give you a more detailed response, but what I can say is that your suggestions lack context. That is important to include for each member of the band.

From YMMV.Ghostbusters 2016, please trim Patty's entry in Base-Breaking Character like so, as part of the Broken Base cleanup:

  • Patty sparked debates over whether or not her Genre Savvy qualities and knowledge of New York history cancel out any offensiveness caused by her stereotypical Sassy Black Woman humor and lack of a Ph.D. This is made more complicated due to the director revealing that the role was originally written for Melissa McCarthy, until he was impressed enough by Leslie Jones in a few Saturday Night Live sketches to switch things around.

At Fist of the North Star and the Fist of the North Star entry at Film F To J, please remove the Would Hurt a Child pothole.

A de-potholed entry for BIONICLE:

  • Makuta Teridax, the Big Bad, is responsible for orchestrating nearly all of the evil in the BIONICLE universe in his quest for godhood. Once a member of the peacekeeping yet vicious Brotherhood of Makuta, Teridax's campaign of evil began when, deciding he deserved to rule, he manipulated his fellow Makuta into betraying Mata Nui, infecting him with a virus that dragged him down from the heavens and sent shockwaves of destruction and anarchy throughout the cosmos. Following this, Teridax began waging war on anyone that wouldn't cow to his whims, with atrocities ranging everything from unleashing the genocidal Bohrok to kill thousands of innocents, to regularly trying to slaughter hundreds of Matoran. Even when seemingly beaten numerous times, Teridax always reaches out with his mind and corrupts other warlords like the Piraka into becoming his servants, using them to enslave and butcher entire villages alongside overrunning islands with the spider-like Visorak. Once gaining the god-like power he has so long craved by body-jacking Mata Nui's original form, Teridax annihilates his former allies while treating all life as playthings for him to torture and sadistically kill as he pleases. Teridax also subjects many rebels to horrific fates worse than death, and goes on to torture and brainwash the former heroes of the Matoran into becoming his personal attack dogs. In the end, Teridax tracks down a revived Mata Nui on the desert world Bara Magna, and attempts to obliterate the entire planet and its population just to spite his "brother". Teridax was a depraved, shockingly vile villain for a franchise originally meant for children, and stands out as the first wholly irredeemable villain in the setting, with his monstrous personality and 100,000 year campaign of darkness made all the worse by the fact that, as alternate reality versions of himself show, he was fully capable of redemption, yet rejected it at every turn.

A de-potholed entry for both Conan the Barbarian AND Film A To E:

  • Conan the Barbarian (1982): Thulsa Doom starts by slaughtering Conan's village, decapitating Conan's mom while he stands next to her and selling the children as slaves just so that he can obtain weapons of fine steel from the barbarians. Later in the film, he orders a young woman to jump to her death to illustrate how much control he has over his followers before ordering Conan to be crucified. Shortly after that, we find out that he and his followers practice cannibalism. He proceeds to kill Valeria, probably Conan's greatest love in the movie-verse, with a snake arrow. After Rexor and his army's defeat in the Battle of the Mounds, Thulsa coldly tries to do the same thing to the Princess after deeming her no longer useful to him.

At Marvel Cinematic Universe, for Whitehall (''Agents of SHIELD), please replace "after forcing its passengers to surrender Raina" with "...to surrender Skye".

A de-potholed entry for Film P To S AND Power Rangers:

  • Power Rangers (2017): Rita Repulsa, the former Green Ranger, was once a noble hero before her ambition drives her to slaughter her comrades and mortally wound her former friend Zordon. Resurfacing countless years later, Rita descends on the fishing town of Angel Grove and starts brutally murdering innocent people for their gold to regain her powers—in one instance tearing a homeless man apart to get at his gold teeth—burning down an entire populated building to demonstrate the power of her Putties. Capturing and then killing a man to draw in the Rangers, Rita tortures the location out of Earth's Zeo Crystal out of the Rangers and then callously kills Billy (temporarily) in front of the others once he wears out his use to her. Finally rising up a monstrous Zord of her own making that she calls Goldar, Rita starts decimating Angel Grove to find and take the powers of the Zeo Crystal. Rita's ultimate goal is nothing short of absolute godhood by harnessing the power of the Zeo Crystal—consequentially killing off all life on the planet, something Rita is only too gleeful to do. Barely resembling her original iteration, Rita brings a level of incredible seriousness to this otherwise lighthearted and fun film and is ultimately nothing less than a psychotic, murderous monster.

For Film: T to Z AND Transformers (these are for the Transformers films):

  • Revenge of the Fallen: The Fallen, also known as Megatronus Prime, is this film's Big Bad and the film universe's first Decepticon. Originally one of the 7 members of the Dynasty of Primes, The Fallen betrayed his brothers and attempted to use the Star Harvester on Earth's Sun regardless of the Dynasty's code against taking life, solely because of his Fantastic Racism towards primitive humankind. Eons after his defeat, The Fallen corrupts Megatron, creates the Decepticons, and orders him to find the All Spark, making him responsible for the events of the first film. After he lures Optimus Prime to his death using Sam as bait, The Fallen sank an aircraft carrier, attacked several human cities, and slaughtered a sizable military force while acquiring the Matrix of Leadership to activate the Star Harvester again, fully intending to wipe out the human race.
  • Age of Extinction: CIA agent Harold Attinger is the creator of "Cemetery Wind," a black-ops group taking it upon itself to wipe out all Transformers upon the planet regardless of faction, all out of nothing more than Attinger's Fantastic Racism. Attinger entered a deal between himself, Lockdown, and Joshua Joyce's Kinetic Solutions Incorporated where Lockdown gives the remains of any Transformer he murders to Joyce for production into man-made Transformers, and Attinger would trade Optimus for the Seed needed to create more man-made Transformers to sell to the US Army. At first, Attinger may come across as well-intentioned, but given that he worked with Lockdown, wanted to create Transformers of his own, would have millions of innocents killed by The Seed, along with his own attempts to kill any humans who could get in his way-such as Tessa Yeager by proxy of his Dragon Savoy and Cade Yeager at his own hand—and ordering Savoy to murder witnesses of his presence in Hong Kong, it is clear Attinger is a hypocrite, if not merely a Straw Hypocrite, out to get rich.

And, for the GI Joe at Film F To J (don't worry about the Joe page for now):

  • Once a U.S. soldier, Rex Lewis was apparently killed in a failed mission, but survived, secretly joining James McCullen's MARS Industries to research advanced nanotechnology, adopting the alias "The Doctor". Testing the mind-control application of this technology on his sister, Ana, the Doctor brainwashed her into aiding in his and McCullen's crimes for the next four years. Under McCullen, the Doctor developed the Neo-Vipers, brainwashed super-soldiers meant to do his bidding, and whom he horrifyingly killed if they were captured. After aiding McCullen's plan to wipe out four heavily populated cities, the Doctor used Ana as a hostage to cover his escape from the G.I. Joes, attempting to kill the Joes and his own allies alike as he fled. Betraying McCullen and taking control of MARS (which he refashioned as Cobra), the Doctor forced him into servitude, dubbing McCullen "Destro" and taking the identity of Cobra Commander for himself and seeking to Take Over the World. Escaping from prison in Retaliation, and abandoning Destro in the process, Commander orders Zartan, disguised as the President of United States, to wipe out the G.I. Joes, resulting in nearly all of their deaths. At a summit of world leaders, Cobra Commander reveals Project Zeus, a Kill Sat that he intends to use to hold the world hostage. As a demonstration of Project Zeus's power, Commander orders Zartan to activate it, destroying London in the process. When the surviving Joes interfere with this plan, Cobra Commander sets Project Zeus to destroy each continent's most highly populated cities to cover his own escape, abandoning his allies in the process.
  • Zartan, Cobra Commander's right-hand man, is a sadistic Psycho for Hire who gleefully takes part in Cobra's schemes. Helping to steal nanite warheads for MARS Industries, Zartan takes great pleasure in murdering any G.I. Joes who get in his way, notably stabbing Cover Girl through the back and taunting Storm Shadow for his refusal to kill women. Escaping from the Joes' headquarters, Zartan murders an innocent traveller for a disguise. At the end of the film, Zartan captures and impersonates the President of the United States. In Retaliation it is revealed that, when Storm Shadow was a child, Zartan murdered his uncle, framed Storm Shadow for it, and corrupted him into a life of crime, all for no discernible reason. While Impersonating the President, whom he regularly tortures for information, Zartan orders Storm Shadow to assassinate the President of Pakistan, sparking a civil war and framing the Joes for it, as part of a plan to free Cobra Commander from prison. On Cobra Commander's orders, Zartan orders an attack on the Joes, killing all but a few of them, and cheerfully tests Project Zeus on London, annihilating the city. In the end, after Storm Shadow turns on Zartan and calls him out for the murder of his uncle, Zartan simply taunts him before trying to kill him.

Hi, I would like to request for a mod to fix A Cat in a Gang of Dogs for that "in" and "of" won't be in capital letters. Also a troper suggested during the launching the use of Token Feline Teammate as a a.k.a. in case someone can re-direct that to the main. Thanks in advance.

Any opinion on post 16888?

Also, this should be the page for Main.Timeline:

At Star Trek, please change the "Other Works" category to "Literature". Also, please add it to Monster/Literature for works with their own pages (there will be another one coming, and possibly more); and delete the Star Trek example at Literature M To Z.

Please also replace the content at Criminal Minds with the content inside the folder at Complete Monster Drafts.

I don't know if it's a big problem, but I just stumbled upon a completely orphaned preview.

To be clear, the correct link should be to A Throne Of Bayonets, and this work page doesn't exist yet.

The Timeline idea, also completely pointless. Nobody links to the timeline project, barely anyone uses it, if someone is making a link to it it's almost guaranteed to be in error, there's never going to be any crossover between the two pages listed, only two pages listed, only one work with the name.

Well, the autoindex for Timeline/ pages links to Timeline instead of Timelines. Until this glitch is fixed, we should put a disambiguation. See Timeline.Homestuck, for example.

If we look at the two wicks to Timeline (Trivia.Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog and ShoutOut.El Ministerio Del Tiempo), we'll see that in one instance, the wick ought to go to Alternate Timeline whereas the other should go to... presumably Literature.Timeline. I think a disambig could be helpful since we have a trope, work, and wiki project that could be referenced under Timeline. Alternatively, we could change Timelines to Timelines Wiki... (Would require another discussion, sure, but since the page only has four wicks it doesn't seem like a big threshold.)

Also, that Would Hurt a Child pothole to be removed at Fist of the North Star was for the film.

Also, as long as I'm here:

Thanks.

Some of those pages (e.g. Webcomics of the 2000s and Anime and Manga of the 2000s) are showing up as red links despite having pages.

EDIT: And some of the history pages seem to be messed up? And and the "page created" date is "N/A".
