  • The Faculty: Marybeth Louise Hutchinson is in fact the Hive Queen of a parasitic alien species who had to flee from her oceanic homeworld after a great calamity destroyed it. Taking the form of a New Transfer Student at a small town high school, Marybeth and her ilk infiltrate human society in order to implant all of them with their kind. Marybeth befriends the students Casey, Delilah, Stokely, Stan, and Zeke, even starting a romantic relationship with the last. Marybeth infects almost the entire school and a large part of the town with plans of spreading everywhere before the teenagers catch on, but she's able to fake a drug test designed to detect infectees and is able to keep her identity hidden right until she personally chooses to expose herself to the teenagers, earnestly trying to convince them that she can make all of them happy as a part of the alien colony.
  • Faithful Robot (1965 film): Graumer is a highly intelligent robot who was upgraded by one of his owners to be able to feel emotions. Struggling with having human emotions yet being treated like a lab rat at best, Graumer flees and decides to create a perfect human master for himself to serve for the rest of his life. Using Batman Gambit trickery, he gets employed by Tom Klempner and is an excellent housekeeper and consultant, while simultaneously stealing Klempner's money and possessions for his human-making project, eventually succeeding in creating the Guy. After Klempner refuses to give Graumer up to the police, Graumer opens up to him and tries to persuade him and the Guy to share the house peacefully. However, as Klempner and the Guy start fighting almost immediately, Graumer, disappointed, poisons both of them and sends himself away to a new hiding place, with the clear implication he is not going to give up.
  • The Fast and the Furious series:
    • Dominic "Dom" Toretto would become the most brilliant and skilled street racer after beating his brother, Jakob, in a race and exiling him for his role in their father's death. Perpetrating many high-speed semi hijackings, Dom persuades Brian O'Connor to give him his car to escape from the police. Returning to Los Angeles to attend Letty Ortiz's funeral, Dom tracks down her supposed murderer and kills him while bringing his boss to justice. Escaping prison and traveling to Rio De Janeiro, Dom plots to steal 100 million dollars from Hernan Reyes letting Luke Hobbs kill Reyes while they steal his money. Learning that Letty is still alive, Dom is able to get Letty to turn against Owen Shaw and gets Hobbs to clear their names for helping him stop Owen. When Owen's brother Deckard hunts Dom and his crew, Dom works with Mr. Nobody to defeat Deckard and his partner, Mose Jakande. Blackmailed by Cipher into betraying his team and help her obtain nuclear codes, Dom schemes behind her back, having Owen and Deckard recuse Dom’s son from Cipher before foiling her plans. Facing Jakob, the two would join forces to stop Otto and Cipher before Dom reconciles with his brother, giving him his car to escape from authorities.
    • Han Seoul-Oh started off as a petty criminal during his teenage years before becoming one of the series' most charismatic and well-known figures upon reaching adulthood. Joining Dominic Toretto’s driving crew Han would collaborates in Dom’s many heists and plans may it be stealing fuel tanks from a truck and 100 million dollars from Hernan Reyes in the fourth and fifth films respectively to bring Letty Ortiz back and stop Owen Shaw from stealing the CPU in the sixth film while developing a romantic relationship with Gisele Yashar throughout the movies. Traveling to Tokyo after Gisele’s death, Han opens his own garage, becoming Sean Boswell’s Driving Mentor and forms business relations with Takashi and the Yakuza while stealing money behind their backs. Though seemingly killed by Deckard Shaw, its revealed in F9 that he collaborated with Mr. Nobody to fake his death to keep Elle safe from rogue agents pursuing her before resurfacing to reunite with his team and rescue Elle.
    • Fast & Furious 6: Owen Shaw is a former soldier of the British Armed Forces turned criminal mastermind who used his skills to orchestrate many heists and remain one step ahead of law enforcements. Owen would recruit Letty Ortiz into joining his elite crew when his associate, Arturo Braga, failed to kill Letty and she lost her memory. Planning to steal a powerful Computer Processing Unit from a heavily armed military base, Owen would hijack a military convoy and steal a tank in hopes of using it to break in said base. Stopped only by the sudden intervention of Dominic "Dom" Torreto and his crew, Owen would be sent to the base where he arranged for Dom’s sister Mia to be kidnapped only promising to let her if Dom free him and gives him the CPU, while also revealing that Diplomatic Security Service agent Riley Hicks was part of Owen’s crew. Though failing to escape with the CPU and ending up in a coma, Owen would fully recover from his vegetated state years later and work with his brother Deckard into freeing Dom from the control of his former boss, Cipher, by rescuing Dom’s infant son, showing that time has not diluted his skills.
    • Furious 7: Deckard Shaw is a former MI6 agent turned international criminal who seeks vengeance on Dominic Torreto and his crew for putting Owen in a coma, attacking them one by one, such as Han Seoul-Oh who he supposedly kills in Tokyo. He would then lures Dom from Han's funeral to a secluded area to kill him there before Frank "Mr. Nobody" Petty rescues Dom, and later allies with Mose Jakande to ambush for Dom and Mr. Nobody while retrieving God's Eye. Locked up in a highly secured prison, Deckard breaks out and work with Luke Hobbs and Dom’s crew to capture a rogue Dom, while revealing to be collaborating with Dom and Owen in rescuing Dom's son from Cipher’s captivity. Working with Hobbs again to stop Brixton Lore from unleashing the super-virus "Snowflake", Deckard and Hobbs sneak into Brixton’s hideout to retrieve the device that would extract the virus from Deckard’s sister Hattie and find a way to defeat the super-powered Brixton in combat.
    • F9 & Fast X: Jakob Toretto is Dom's estranged younger brother who was banished by Dom from his life after helping their father rig his own race car so he would die in a crash. Recruited as a covert agent by Mr. Nobody years before Dom and his crew were, Jakob ends up going rogue and then ambushing the Nobodies on behalf of Otto, steals the first half of the satellite controlling Ares device while also abducting the captured Cipher and keeping her prisoner to force her help. Jakob impedes the team's efforts to stop him—while even zip-lining across a city after getting the second half of Ares and using a magnet truck as a distraction. Captured, Jakob arranged ahead of time for himself to be tracked and retrieves Elle to go with him as her DNA unlocks Ares completely. When betrayed by Otto allying with Cipher and nearly killed, Jakob—saved by his sister Mia—helps the team to kill Otto and destroy Ares and Dom rewards Jakob's honor by giving him a getaway car. Returning some time later, Jakob fights his way through government agents in order to protect his young nephew B and prevent them or Dante Reyes from using him to get to Dom—eventually initiating a Heroic Sacrifice in order to take out many of Dante's men in an explosion.
  • The Fastest Gun Alive: Taylor Swope is a dark-humored gunslinger and bank robber who works for Vinnie Harold, whom Swope considers himself second-best to. Swope lacks Harold's drive to prove his skill by killing anyone else who can claim the title as fastest gun alive, but he has no qualms with helping Harold do so. Harold believes that Swope is waiting for the day that someone else will beat him so that Swope can use this to his own advantage, something Swope neither confirms nor denies. When Swope's carefully planned escape route after a bank robbery leads to Harold encountering another quick draw artist, Swope helps him try to force the man into a duel by threatening to burn the whole town. Harold grows alarmed when Swope calmly counts and divides up their money and orders him to leave empty-handed. Swope faces off against Harold, weighing his chances of success, but ultimately chooses not to chance that for money and leaves with a bitter smile before being shot after putting up a prolonged chase and fight.
  • Fatman:
    • Chris and Ruth Cringle are Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus respectively, using their magical abilities and altruistic natures to pull off the creation and maintenance of the Christmas season every year. Turning Christmas into a billion-dollar industry by working with the government, the Cringles deliver countless presents to children on Christmas Eve night and maintain their elf employees' happiness and healthiness year-round. When the amount of naughty children grows so exponential it impacts their subsidy checks, the Cringles sign up with the United States military to mass produce weapons and technology, which they pull off expertly and to shocking proportions. Working together to take down the murderous Skinny Man, Chris and Ruth track down his sociopathic employer, young Billy Wenan, and inform the boy that the couple are going to be doling out their own punishments to children they deem deserving from here on out, and threaten Billy into being a nicer person lest they do unspeakable things to him.
    • Jonathan Miller, "the Skinny Man", is a dangerous, eccentric hitman with a hatred for Christmas and a unique collection of toys made by Santa that he buys for top dollar from those looking to sell. Able to use his own resources to track down targets by just name and general description, the Skinny Man is hired by Billy Wenan to hunt down and kill Santa Claus, aka Chris Cringle, and proceeds to use deductive reasoning and false charm to follow a trail across the country to Alaska, where the Skinny Man simply stakes out in town until he spots Chris. Following Chris to his "North Pole" base of operations, Skinny Man goes on a lethal, skilled rampage through the area, efficiently killing his way through trained military personnel, bombing the toy shop, and nearly killing Chris and Ruth themselves with tricks. With a sad backstory defined by abuse, a love for his pet hamster, and even a slight tenderness towards children, the Skinny Man contrasts the hateable brat Billy by being a tragic, badass antagonist who gives the Cringles the fight of their lives.
  • Female Prisoner Sigma (2006): Ryo Kanzaki is the fabled Sigma, a spirit who helps women in need. Creating a fake backstory for herself to get inside a deadly prison, Kanzaki allows herself to be abused, both physically and sexually, by the warden to get information, while spiting the warden any chance she can get. Blackmailing several guards and betraying them should they show signs of breaking their promise, Kanzaki is even willing to use her newfound friends as bait to lure her enemies into traps. Up against the prison's boss Saionji Shozo, Kanzaki, knowing this would happen, spits out a needle directly into Shozo's forehead boil, getting rid of his powers and allowing Kanzaki to easily defeat him. With the prison reforming into a more peaceful rehabilitation center, Kanzaki vanishes, leaving to help out more women in need.
  • Fight Club: "Tyler Durden" is the bold personification of the nameless Narrator's hatred of consumerism. Charming dozens of men into his "Fight Club" and allowing them to take back their natural, primal nature, Tyler has his followers commit acts of vandalism to liberate the world, his charismatic grasp even penetrating into the ranks of the police. Seeking to erase all records of American debt, even as Tyler is "killed" by the Narrator his scheme succeeds, destroying countless buildings housing credit data.
  • Filibus: Baroness Troixmonde is in truth the daring sky pirate Filibus. A Master of Disguise, Filibus places a bid to capture herself in as Troixmonde and cheerfully informs the detective in charge of hunting Filibus she knows he himself is Filibus before stealthily drugging him unconscious and framing him for her brilliant heists to the point he even believes he is committing the crimes while sleepwalking, all while she romances his sister Leonora after faking Leonora's kidnapping and rescue. When the inspector catches on, Filibus is seemingly captured, but escapes after robbing the international bank, leaving a friendly message to her nemesis that she looks forward to their next meeting and challenge.
  • Fist of the North Star: This version of Ryuken becomes a Spirit Advisor to Kenshiro after being killed by Shin. Determined to bring back balance to the North and South Star martial arts, Ryuken forces Kenshiro to abandon all attachments to defeat Shin. Even going so far as to possess a little girl and send Kenshiro nightmares to make his pupil accept his destiny, Ryuken's plots finally see Shin's empire toppled and balance restored.
  • Five Nights at Freddy's (2023): Golden Freddy is the genius and affable leader of the ghost children haunting the animatronics . Golden Freddy helps the animatronics in their plans to trap and later kill the various security guards that come to Freddy's Pizzeria. Upon meeting Mike Schmidt, Golden Freddy begins to bait him into doing what he says by revealing to him he'll tell Mike what happened to his deceased brother. Golden Freddy then gives a Mike a deal by playing on his emotions to want a happy family again in return for agreeing to give up his sister Abby. When Mike agrees, but later changes his mind and tries to get out of it, Golden Freddy captures him. Golden Freddy later brings Abby to the pizzeria, intending to turn her into his newest friend. When Mike defeats the killer of the ghost children, William Afton, Golden Freddy helps take him down and elects to keep him around to torture Afton for killing him.
  • The Flintstones: Miss Sharon Stone is assigned by Cliff Vandercave to be Fred Flintstone's secretary after he is promoted to the position of Vice President at Slate & Co. Working with Vandercave to embezzle the company, she identifies Fred as the perfect scapegoat due to his low intelligence, and uses her seductive charm to trick him into signing forms that would incriminate him. After Wilma catches her and Fred flirting, she apologizes to him for nearly ruining his marriage, and eventually comes to genuinely like him. After she discovers that Cliff intended to abandon her and flee the country himself, she helps the Flintstones and Rubbles defeat Cliff during the climax. Despite being arrested for her crimes, she parts on good terms with Fred, with the latter promising that he will try to make sure that she receives a lighter sentence as a gesture of gratitude for her help.
  • The Fly II: Martin Brundle is the son of Seth Brundle and Veronica Quaife. Born with accelerated aging and maturity due to inborn mutations, Martin shows a genius level intellect at a young age, as well as a knack for technological know-how. As his mutation begins taking hold, Martin refuses to use the cure to avoid mutating an innocent. Realizing the cruelty and intentions of his father figure, Anton Bartok, Martin flees the facility, and creates a password to prevent Bartok from using the Telepods at the risk of losing the data. Seemingly giving into his mutation, Martin retains his human mind in his rampage, brutally slaughtering Bartok's staff sent to capture and study him, stopping to sympathetically pet a security dog sent to sniff him out. Defeating Bartok himself, Martin puppeteers him into entering the Telepods password, and directs Beth into correctly activating the machine, ending with Martin successfully curing himself where his father failed, while leaving Bartok as miserably mutated abomination.
  • Focus: Nicky Spurgeon is a seasoned con artist running his own team of pickpockters and scammers. Seeing the potential in novice conwoman, Jess Barrett, he takes her under his wing, teaching her how to be a successful con artist. At the Super Bowl, he scams Liyuan Tse out of two million dollars during a gamble by manipulating his subconscious into believing 55 is his lucky number and using Jess as his "blind mouse", he plants one of his inside men on the field with a jersey that says 55. Nicky pretends to work with Rafael Garriga to sabotage a rival racing team while stealing the EXR formula from up under his nose and selling it to various teams. Being captured by Garriga, Nick employs "The Toledo Panic Button"; Nick has his father (who acted as Garriga's right hand man) shoot Nick and take off with Garriga's car.
  • Following: Cobb is ordered by a gangster (The Bald Guy) to kill one of his former lovers after she started blackmailing him, then notices that a stranger (the Writer) has been following him. He plays the Writer for a complete fool, implicating himself in the murder Cobb is planning under the guise of teaching him the art of burglary. He pretends to be working with the Blonde to implicate the Writer for another murder. He reveals he's working for the Bald Guy, kills the Blonde with the same weapon the Writer used earlier in another burglary, then disappears into thin air to let the Writer take the fall.
  • The Forbidden Kingdom: Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, is a playful immortal warrior who brought chaos and discord across ancient China. Crashing a party held by the other immortals on Five Elements Mountain, Wukong, after refusing to bow before the Jade Warlord, is challenged to a duel where he bests him, showing off his eccentric but masterful style of combat. When about to be petrified by the Jade Warlord's magic, Wukong casts his staff into the kingdom and with it a piece of his hair that becomes a clone taking the form of a stoic monk tasked with ensuring the staff is returned to him. As the monk, Wukong deceives everyone around him into thinking he is a silent or aloof monk, helps instruct and train Jason Tripitikas to ensure he would free his original self and is even willing to sacrifice Yu Lan to complete his mission. Unable to afford losing him, Wukong rescues Jason when he goes after the Jade Warlord which in turn allows him to free his original self and defeat the tyrant. A powerful combatant and a master of deception and trickery, Wukong offers his thanks to Jason for freeing him and wishes him good luck on his journey.
  • The Foreigner (2017):
    • Ngoc Minh Quan is a widower whose beloved daughter Fan is killed in a terrorist bombing. Centering in on Irish Deputy First Minister Liam Hennessy for his old IRA connections, Quan pressures him to give up any names he knows by ramping up threats, even bombing Hennessy's office. Later outmaneuvering and disabling Hennessy's crack security team, Quan uncovers a bomber plot and uses a ruse to gain entry to the terrorists' hideaway before eliminating almost all of them himself, ending it by forcing Hennessy to expose his connections to one of the bombers to the world.
    • Liam Hennessy himself is a former IRA terrorist who abandoned terrorism for politics. Planning bombings without human casualties to force the British government to accede to release IRA prisoners. When his own wife and allies betray him, Hennessy takes matters into his own hands. Furious at the deaths of innocents, Hennessy tortures his old army friend McGrath for information, exposing his wife for her affair with his nephew and proceeds to play the British against the terrorists to foil the bombing and achieve his ends before having his wife executed by Sean to secure the end of the plot.
  • Fracture (2007): Theodore "Ted" Crawford hatches a plan that allows him to shoot his cheating wife, hide the murder weapon, confess to his crime, get himself acquitted and be immune against further prosecution, cause the suicide of the man sleeping with his wife, pull the plug on his comatose wife, and nearly get away with all of it. Crawford delights in playing mind games with the young hero Will Beachum, allowing Beachum to know he's guilty, but constantly dancing out of trouble via his own clever schemes until the end of the film. Despite being a murderer, Crawford manages to retain his charm and even a measure of sympathy, even handling his defeat with grace.
  • Frailty: Adam Meiks is a calculating murderer who kills horrible people as a personal mission assigned to him by God Himself. Raised by a father blessed with a similar quest, Adam stayed loyal to his dad even as his brother, Fenton, strayed from the path and eventually killed their father. Inheriting his father's abilities and mission, Adam became a successful Serial Killer for decades, targeting child molesters and other vile individuals for the "demons" they are, all while keeping up appearances as a likeable town sheriff. Eventually tracking down and killing his evil brother Fenton, Adam masquerades as Fenton long enough to lure another of his targets to their doom, then skillfully evades FBI investigation through his own intelligence and God's assistance, ending the film free to continue his spree.
  • The French Connection: Alain Charnier is a debonair heroin peddler who kills a police officer for getting too close, only to refuse to murder investigating officer Popeye Doyle in the knowledge it will only bring more officers. Intending to establish a flood of heroin on the market by smuggling it in an unsuspecting friend's car, Charnier spends the film matching wits with the police only to give them the slip and to merrily escape them, eluding capture and fulfilling his ends.
  • The French Dispatch's "The Private Dining Room of the Police Commissioner":
    • Lt. Nescaffier is a Korean immigrant to France who is eager to make his mark on his adopted country as a culinary genius. Employed as the private chef to to Commissioner of Police of the city of Ennui-sur-Blase, Nescaffier befriends his boss's young son and becomes man on the spot when the boy is held for ransom. Usually kind and humble, Nescaffier concocts a surprisingly ruthless plan to fatally poison all of the kidnappers by dosing an irresistibly tasty dish with toxin, even knowing he will have to sample it himself to gain their trust. Barely surviving, he is interviewed by journalist Roebuck Wright as to his reasons, and he confesses that after a life among haute cuisine that now seems boring to him, risking his death by one of his own dishes was the most exciting thing he's ever done.
    • The crime lord known only as "the Chauffeur" seeks to secure the release of mob accountant Albert the Abacus in order to guarantee he doesn't turn evidence against him and his associates. To this end, the Chauffeur kidnaps the young son of "The Commissaire" in order to ransom and threaten him in exchange for that demand being met and successfully hides him away while doing so. The Chauffeur, upon realizing he and his accomplices are found, also shoots and holds off police, expresses suspicion correctly about Nescaffier poisoning the food and upon being the only survivor of said poisoning attempt, The Chauffeur flees in a car coming very close to escaping with the boy.
  • Fright Night franchise:
    • 1985 Original:
      • Jerry Dandridge is an ancient vampire who moves into suburbia and begins to prey upon victims where he is noticed by the young hero Charley Brewster. Charming his way into an invitation from Charley's mother, Jerry initially offers to spare Charley if Charley forgets about him after Jerry's friend manages to fool the police and make Charley look insane. Easily fooling Charley's friends, Jerry realizes the suspicions of actor Peter Vincent and seduces Charley's friend to become a vampire, kidnapping Charley's girlfriend and turning her so as to lure Peter and Charley into a final confrontation, conducting himself with incredible charm and charisma as he welcomes them to "Fright Night. For real."
      • Billy Cole is the vampire Jerry Dandridge's immortal servant and best friend. When Charley brings a detective to Jerry's house while the vampire sleeps, Billy tricks the cop into thinking Charley is crazy while humorously mocking the young hero. When Charley and Peter launch their attack on Jerry's house, Billy seemingly allows them to kill him to let Jerry escape before revealing himself as a powerful ghoul, nearly killing Peter.
    • Part 2:
      • Regine Dandridge is Jerry's sister out to avenge her beloved brother. Having stationed her underling Dr. Scott Harrison to pose as Charley Brewster's psychotherapist, Regine has him convinced trauma is what made him believe in vampires while she plots to turn him into one to suffer forever. Using her talents in makeup and acting, Regine makes Charley believe she is a mere thespian, seducing him and beginning to drink his blood to vampirize him and having Peter Vincent declared insane when he tries to stop her. Nearly having a corrupted Charley kill Peter and his own girlfriend at her behest, Regine conducts herself with every bit of charisma as her brother while trying to remove Charley's humanity for her vengeance.
      • Dr. Scott Harrison, the Evil Genius of Regine Dandridge's coven of vampires, is a jovial psychiatrist treating Charley Brewster. So good at his role of gaslighting Charley, Harrison manages to convince him vampires aren't real so he'll be vulnerable to Regine while ensuring Charley is steadily blamed and isolated by all those around him. Luring Alex Young, Charley's girlfriend, to a trap, Harrison is mortally wounded with a stake through the heart. Realizing to kill him would traumatize Alex further, Harrison throws himself on the stake, a good doctor to the last.
    • 2011 remake: Edward "Evil Ed" Lee is Charley Brewster's abandoned best friend. Taking up Jerry's offer for vampirism in his loneliness, Ed uses his knowledge of the rules of invitation to pose as a delivery man to Peter Vincent's apartment, then personally "invites" Jerry into the penthouse. Destroying the elevator to prevent Charley's escape, the snarky Ed confronts the hero and when mortally wounded gracefully forgives his friend as he dies.
  • The Frighteners: Frank Bannister gained the ability to see spirits after the death of his beloved wife. Befriending local ghosts, Frank cons townsfolk into paying him for exorcisms to complete the dream home he promised his spouse. When the spirit of murderer Johnny Bartlett, his wife's true killer, resurfaces, Frank teams up with Dr. Lucy Lynskey to escape the skeptical police, even setting up one zealous agent to get killed by Bartlett's equally psychotic lover, saving Lucy and damning the killers to move on with his life happily with Lucy.
  • From Paris with Love: Charlie Wax is a boisterous but highly effective CIA assassin who has been tasked to destroy a jihadist cell in Paris with his tag-along partner Reese. Wax smuggles his favorite gun through French customs and immediately carves a bloody path through the French underworld, willing to use wildly illegal means to achieve his goals while deliberately messing with his partner by forcing him to carry around and snort cocaine and keeping him in the dark about their ultimate mission. Wax later executes a female terrorist in cold blood and with Reese's help ultimately secures American interests abroad.
  • Furie duology:
    • First movie: Hai Phuong, after leaving her family behind to become a gangster, would retire from her life of crime to raise her daughter Mai. Becoming a debt collector in a small village who uses excessive force to acquire money from people, Hai soon tracks down Mai to Saigon after she’s kidnapped by a bunch of thugs. Uncovering a child organ harvesting operation by sneaking into a police department and stealing some missing children files, Hai is able to go toe-to-toe with anybody who stands in her way, fighting through numerous crooks, and tracking down crime boss Thang Soi for a final showdown after fending off everything thrown at her. Getting sent to the hospital after rescuing Mai and the rest of the children, Hai is still able to make amends with her brother and promise Mai she’ll teach her how to defend herself.
    • Furies (2022): Jacqueline, aka "Lin", is a seemingly heroic woman who takes in heroine Bi alongside former prostitute Thanh and the happy-go-lucky Hong. Training them for the sake of justice, Jacqueline directs them at the wicked "Mad Dog" Hai and his Big Four lieutenants who rule the city with thousands of innocent women trafficked as sex slaves. What Lin does not tell them is she is the widow of Hoang, the boss Hai murdered to seize control. Enraged by her husband and son's deaths, Jacqueline manipulates her proteges to eliminate the Big Four while taking advantage of Hong's lover Long to sway him to her side and trap Hai. Jacqueline reveals she intends on ruling the mob herself, killing Thanh when she refuses an order to kill Bi, before engaging Bi in a fight as well. Accepting her loss with grace, Lin passes with only bemusement at wondering what Bi will do without her.
  • The Game (1997):
    • Conrad "Connie" Van Orton gave Nicholas a gift certificate for Consumer Recreational Services (CRS) in the hopes of breaking him out of his jaded shell. Informing CRS about his brother's Dark and Troubled Past, Conrad plays the role of a desperate victim of CRS who was forced to bring Nicholas into the loop. At the end, knowing he would be shot by his unhinged brother, he, along with the rest of the CRS actors chased Nicholas to the rooftop to reveal that it was all part of an elaborate game, before revealing himself to still be alive after Nicholas' suicide attempt, presenting him with a t-shirt that reads "I was drugged and left for dead in Mexico and all I got was this stupid t-shirt", successfully turning his brother into a better, more humble person.
    • Christine, real name (possibly) Claire, is an actress employed by CRS. Pretending initially to be another victim of CRS, Christine plays a role in trashing Nicholas' hotel room. As Nicholas catches onto her, she quickly weaves a story about how she was caught up in CRS' deception before drugging Nicholas and leaving him in a coffin in Mexico. Proud to have succeeded in her role in breaking down Nicholas' aloof and self-centered demeanor, she continues to play on his paranoia even after the game had ended by presenting her Multiple-Choice Past to him.
  • Game Night: Gary Kingsbury, the seemingly socially awkward neighbor of Max and Annie Davis, is actually much more cunning and intelligent than he lets on. Hoping to get himself re-instated in Max's game night sessions, Gary hires criminals to kidnap Max's brother, Brooks, while giving Max and his group clues that would lead to Brooks' location; Among those clues involve them having to spend game night with Gary. Eventually reaching Brooks location, Gary fakes getting lethally shot tricking Max and Annie into promising Gary that he would be invited in future game nights should he survive. Though initially frustrated when Gary reveals his role as the mastermind, they cant help but respect Gary for pulling off such an impressive plan and keep their promise, inviting Gary to the next game night.
  • Gangs of New York: Amsterdam Vallon returns to the Five Points years after the death of his father "Priest" at the hands of William "Bill the Butcher" Cutting. Amsterdam infiltrates Bill's gang and becomes like a son to Bill himself and begins to harbor a strange affection for his father's killer. Upon being discovered and branded by Bill, Amsterdam rebuilds Priest's Dead Rabbits gang, getting the better of and killing Bill's personal corrupt policeman before steadily eroding Bill's power base through the streets and politics.
  • The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil: Jang Dong-soo is an affable, ruthless gangster who runs an efficient rigged gambling ring that he has used for years to get rich. After being attacked by the serial killer Kyung-ho, Dong-soo begins working with rival cop Tae-suk to track down the vicious murderer and bring him to justice as payback for the assault, with Dong-soo recording his interactions with Tae-suk so as to ensure the cop can't betray him at a later date. Using his vast network to hunt down evidence and eventually Kyung-ho himself, Dong-soo, utterly disgusted with Kyung-ho after he killed a young girl Dong-soo had treated nicely hours earlier, decides to take justice into his own hands and attempts to murder Kyung-ho. Even after Tae-suk stops the murder, Dong-soo turns himself in just so he can testify against Kyung-ho and get them both locked in the same prison, where Dong-soo cheerfully corners Kyung-ho with plans to make him pay for all the suffering he's caused.
  • Gemini Man: Henry Brogan is an aging government assassin who, after yet another narrowly successful heist, wants to retire permanently. After discovering he killed an innocent spy, Henry outmaneuvers hitmen sent by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) using security measures and a bunker full of weapons he prepared previously. Slipping away with Dani, Henry is pursued by Junior, a clone of him made by GEMINI, who he engages in a firefight throughout the Colombian streets, including on motorcycles. When Junior sets up an elaborate death trap in the catacombs, Henry shows he's one step ahead of his younger self by planting a wire on the kidnapped Dani so he can undermine the whole gambit and offer advice to Junior. This proves pivotal in the final fight against GEMINI soldiers and an even more advanced clone when Junior comes to their aid. In the end, Henry was able to use a lifetime of skills to find retirement and give "Jackson" a chance at life he failed to give himself.
  • The Gentlemen:
    • Michael "Mickey" Pearson is the charming ruler of an American marijuana empire, who has clawed his way up from humble beginnings to become one of the most successful crime lords in the business. An utterly respectable businessman who respects his allies and gives them all more-than-ample compensation for their services, Mickey has evaded all attempts by law enforcement and other criminal gangs to locate his pot farms through bribery and hiding in plain sight. When he seems to sell his million-dollar enterprise and retire in luxury, Mickey dances out of reach of the many slimy and violent crooks he comes up against, before ultimately outwitting the treacherous Matthew Berger, taking out the psychotic Dry Eye and reestablishing himself to remain in the crime game. With a deep love for his wife, a genuine friendship with his right-hand, and a swaggering ruthlessness to every situation he faces, Mickey ends the film in triumph over all those who sought to oppose him, firmly proving to all that he is "the king of the jungle."
    • Raymond Smith is Mickey's loyal and efficient chief enforcer in the cannabis business who both Mickey's trust and faith in proves utterly indispensable. Questioned by the greedy and ambitious Fletcher who has learned of things he shouldn't know, Raymond constantly snowballs him while also cooking him steaks and learning of the different places Fletcher has hidden evidence and his findings. This is while Raymond also lets Fletcher snoop in his house and lets him think he's getting away with it too. Rescuing the teenager Laura Pressfield from a drug den, Raymond has his guys track down thieves who took pictures with their phones of an addict who's accidentally killed on the scene and when they threaten Raymond with knives in his attempt to bribe them, he drops the niceties and pretenses to threaten them with a concealed automatic machine gun while successfully covering up the scene. He also continues to protect Mickey from exposure and other assassins and eventually when Fletcher initially escapes, Raymond tracks him down and successfully recaptures him to guarantee he is out of the picture for good.
  • G-Force: Speckles is the technologically gifted support specialist for G-Force, using his position to hide his villainous intentions. Having lost his family at a young age to humans, Speckles swore vengeance on humanity as a whole, and decides to twist Leonard Saber's technology to his desires by disguising himself as "Mr. Yanshu" and infecting all Saber technology with his coding virus. Faking his death to fool G-Force, Speckles initiates "Project Clusterstorm" to turn all Saber technology against humans, coming close to succeeding in his goals to drive humankind underground for vengeance before realizing the error of his ways and helping to save the world out of care for his team.
  • Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire: Melody is a ghost working for Garraka in order to move on and reunite with her family. Befriending Phoebe, Melody fakes a haunting in order to follow Phoebe home and learn about the Ghostbusters containment unit. Melody eventually tricks Phoebe into temporarily turning into a ghost so that Garraka can use her body to say the chant to free him. Using Garraka's invasion as a distraction, Melody sneaks into the Ghostbusters' base to release their captured ghosts, only to be talked down by Phoebe. Legitimately bonding with and befriending Phoebe, Melody later helps Phoebe trap Garraka by lighting her match to aid the Firemaster, before finally moving on and promising to see Phoebe in the "Fabric of the Universe."
  • Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai: Ghost Dog is a soulful, contemplative man wholly loyal to his "master" Louie, a mafioso working for the Vargo family. Ghost Dog performs his assassinations perfectly, escaping without leaving a trace and living his life according to the Hagakure, until the mob decides to have him eliminated for an embarrassing hit. Ghost Dogs wipes out most of the Vargo family, even taking out one major member by shooting him up through the pipes in his sink, ending the film by being unwilling to kill Louie and allowing Louie to kill him to face death on his own terms.
  • Ghosts of Mars: James "Desolation" Williams is a criminal held at the Shining Canyon. A brilliant felon who survives the unearthing of the titular ghosts of Mars, Desolation helps the arriving police survive for his own sake while revealing he had men there to help break him out. Desolation is instrumental to the survival with his strategy and planning, saving heroine Lieutenant Melanie Ballard from her own possession and forming a plan to wipe out the Ghosts and allow the survivors to escape before slipping off himself. When the Ghosts take over a city at the end, Desolation arrives to assist Ballard, joking she'd make a great criminal before opting to take the fight to the Ghosts.
  • The Gift (2015): Gordon "Gordo" Moseley was a troubled youth horrendously bullied by Simon Callem during high school. Upon learning that Simon still mocks him behind his back in present day, Gordo enacts a complex plan to get back at him. Tapping into Simon's sound system so he could hear his every move, Gordo orchestrates several break-ins at his house, leak information about Simon's underhanded business tactics to his bosses costing Simon his job, and giving Simon a video of Gordo next to his wife Robyn. When Simon demands to know if Gordo had sex with Robyn, Gordo doesn't confirm or deny the fact, causing Simon to rush to the hospital where he is met with scorn from Robyn, whom Gordo had told about Simon's bullying. With Simon breaking down after losing his job and wife, Gordo watches from afar before walking away, completely satisfied that he ruined Simon's life similar to how Simon ruined his own.
  • A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night: The titular "Girl" is a skateboarding vampire who cruises Bad City seeking prey and life experiences galore. Having existed for decades and slaked her bloodthirst indiscriminately while skillfully avoiding any exposure, the Girl took a hiatus in the desert to reflect on her life before coming to the decision to direct her murderous ways towards those who truly deserve it. The Girl kills off a variety of distasteful characters throughout Bad City, manipulating the likes of pimps and women abusers into her crosshairs to be fed upon. Hiding her vigilantism as she grows close to kindred soul Arash, the Girl winds up teaming with Arash to leave Bad City behind to seek further prospects, having sunk her seductive wiles so deep into Arash that he loves her despite his father's death at the Girl's hands.
  • Gladiator: Maximus Decimus Meridius, leader of the Felix Legions, is a soldier from Iberia who wages war on behalf of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. His brilliant tactics have carved out new territory for Rome, opening the film in a final defeat of the Germanic tribes. Betrayed when Aurelius is murdered by his ambitious son Commodus, Maximus fools and kill his would-be assassins before finding his family dead and becoming a gladiator when he is sold into slavery. Known as the Spaniard, Maximus leads his fellow Gladiators to victory with his grasp of tactics and organizes a coup against Commodus. Ultimately overcoming his hated foe, Maximus uses his last moments to free his friends and implore those listening to allow Marcus Aurelius's dream to survive.
  • Glorious: Ghatanothoa is an Eldritch Abomination spawned by the hateful primordial god to wipe out all life in the universe. Having since come to view life as beautiful, Ghatanothoa rejects his destiny and now seeks to save it by any means necessary. Ghatanothoa befriends the disturbed human Serial Killer Wesley to convince him to sacrifice his liver to the elder god and prevent Ghatanothoa's full emergence into the material plane. Ghatanothoa keeps Wesley captive, devours another human for interfering, and erases Wesley's memories of the woman he loved to force him to comply. After completing the sacrifice and leaving Wesley for dead as Ghatanothoa returns to the ether, never to return, he reminds Wesley that this is for the best, since monsters deserve to be forgotten.
  • The Godfather:
    • Part I:
      • Vito Corleone, the Godfather himself, is the charismatic head of the Corleone family who started the crime family from nothing. After being bullied in his youth by the supposed mafioso Don Fanucci, Vito soon outplayed and disposed of him, becoming a "treasured friend" to the neighborhood who traded favor for favor. Even in his old age, Vito is the true strength of the Corleone family, who holds most of New York's judges and politicians in his pocket. When he is gunned down by the assassins of Virgil Sollozzo, Vito later returns after his eldest son's death, but uses a peace summit to determine who the true mastermind of the war was before making plans so his son Michael will wipe out all the enemies of the family, even after Vito's death. An iconic who defined The Don, Vito misses little chance to show why he is the most talented and powerful Don in the nation.
      • Peter Clemenza was a founding member of the Corleone family and remains one of its caporegimes. A staunch loyalist to Vito Corleone, Clemenza is a veteran soldier and killer with a fondness for the garotte. Upon being informed his protege Paulie Gato is a traitor, Clemenza lures him into a trap to be executed and later arranges for a planted gun so Michael Corleone can kill Virgil "The Turk" Sollozzo and a corrupt police captain. Clemenza is the one to trap and ambush the Stracci family heads in an elevator, as well as the executioner of the treacherous Carlo Rizzi.
    • Part II: Hyman Roth, seeking revenge for the death of his protege and friend Moe Greene at Michael's hands, has Michael's brother Fredo manipulated into giving his men a chance to murder Michael. Also manipulating a situation in New York through his proxies the Rosato Brothers, Roth has them attempt to murder Michael's New York caporegime, Frank Pentangelli, while making him think it was Michael's doing. Roth then uses Frank's survival to get him to turn witness for the State, even buying out the members of the Senate's investigative committee so Michael will be personally indicted. Soft spoken and relaxed, Roth hides an utterly devious mind, seeking personal revenge under the guise of everything being "strictly business" and comes closest to bringing Michael down.
  • Godzilla feature films:
    • Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster: Malmess is a ruthless, determined assassin on a mission to kill princess Salno of Selgina for the kingdom's communist party. Having planted a bomb on Selgina's plane for a diplomatic visit to Japan, the Princess is saved only when a Venusian force compels her to dive from the explosion. Covertly tracking his target through Tokyo, Malmess remains as discrete as possible in his objective and is only stopped by interference from the Shobijin, and later Godzilla and Rodan. Eventually tracking Selgina to a scientist's laboratory, Malmess sabotages the electro-shock equipment to kill her in a way that leaves no evidence of his involvement. When this is foiled, Malmess is undeterred even by a car wreck and comes within hair's breadth of shooting both Salno and her friend Shindo before he's finally killed by Ghidorah causing an avalanche.
    • Final Wars: Captain Douglas Gordon is a soldier for the Earth Defense Force, making a name for himself as being the one who imprisoned Godzilla in the Arctic. A macho, reckless, yet effective Captain of the Gotengo, Gordon leads a battle against Manda in an underwater volcano, killing the dragon, but risking his crew's lives. This and taking a swing at his superior officer get him court-martialed. When released, Gordon helps expose the Xiliens' treachery and when their invasion begins, Gordon comes up with the plan to fight back; saying the world's already lost, and humanity might as well go out fighting, Gordon and his crew unleash Godzilla from his prison. From there, they lead Godzilla to different cities to wipe out the attacking monsters, with Godzilla causing more destruction as collateral damage. Infiltrating the Xiliens' mothership, Gordon fights one of their squads with his bare hands, coming out unscathed. Gordan's plan otherwise works, and Godzilla wipes out the Xiliens' monsters, the plan to recapture Godzilla backfiring when Godzilla shoots down the Gotengo. Even so, Gordon prepares to face Godzilla with his crew on foot, in what they think is going to be a last stand.
    • MonsterVerse:
      • Godzilla himself, King of the Monsters, is the keeper of balance and the mighty beast who first hunts down the MUTO duo across the world to prevent them from damaging the biosphere irreparably. Showing his intellect by baiting the male into a trap to finish him with a strike of his tail and cornering the female before beheading her by a blast of atomic breath into her mouth, Godzilla returns later to face his ages-old foe King Ghidorah whom he attempts to bring into the water where he is stronger. Defeating Ghidorah and reasserting himself as king of the Titans, Godzilla later begins to strike at Apex facilities when they attempt to experiment with Ghidorah. Upon the entrance of King Kong, Godzilla wastes no time in pragmatically attempting to drown his rival, later facing Kong in Tokyo and besting him before acknowledging him as a worthy opponent and departing in peace after the fall of Mechagodzilla.
      • King Kong, ruler of Skull Island, is an intelligent and dangerous ape who responds to threats with brutal attacks, wiping out a contingent of trespassing soldiers in Skull Island. Facing the Skullcrawlers, Kong kills the Alpha with a combination of brains and nearby weaponry, before resuming his kingship over Skull Island. Later brought in to face Godzilla, Kong proves a Worthy Opponent for the Titan Alpha, resorting to his wits in the face of Godzilla's overwhelming might and utilizing an axe from materials in the Hollow Earth to counter Godzilla's atomic breath. Kong is the one to destroy Mechagodzilla himself, wielding his empowered ax and his own might, before making peace with Godzilla and returning to the Hollow Earth in peace.
    • Shin Godzilla: Goro Maki is an anti-nuclear scientist whose wife died of radiation poisoning. Through his research, Maki predicted the existence of the monstrous Godzilla and a way to defeat it should it attack, only to be covered up by world governments when trying to release that information. In despair and desire for retaliation, Maki encoded his notes and set out a series of clues before disappearing. Rando Yaguchi is forced to organize a team and collaborate to decipher Maki's cryptic information, all while it is speculated that Maki facilitated or perhaps even personally directed Godzilla's attack before his passing. When Maki's methods are discovered through his notes, Godzilla is ultimately defeated. Despite dying before the film began, Maki proves a true Anti-Villain, having set out a puzzle to inform and test mankind, their triumph over which allows humanity to finally end the threat of Godzilla.
  • Going in Style movies:
    • Original 1979 movie: Joe Harris is a senior citizen who, along with his friends Al and Willie, decides to rob a bank out of boredom. With Joe setting most of the plan, the three successfully steal from the bank, keeping their loot secretly in Al's nephew Pete's house. Later, the excitement causes Willie to pass away, leading Joe and Al to give Pete and his family a part of the money, claiming it to be Willie's life insurance. Joe and Al spend the rest of the money on a trip to Las Vegas, where they gain even more money through playing craps, but the exhaustion causes Al to pass away in his sleep. Joe then gives all of the money gained to Pete, asking him to never reveal it to anyone, and after being arrested by the police, Joe refuses to reveal the location of the loot. When asked by Pete in prison, Joe still refuses to give back the stolen money, not minding his life in prison and not believing it to be any different from his life with Al and Willie on the outside.
    • 2017 remake: Jesús Garcia is a pet store owner and criminal that Joe, Al, and Willie seek the help of in order to rob a bank. With him setting the plan, Jesús teaches and trains them for everything they need to commit the robbery, which they succeed at. When Joe wants to give him his part of the loot, Jesús claims to not need it, as it's revealed he's the leader of the robbers that Joe met at the bank in the beginning of the movie that inspired him into robbing a bank too, with the tattoo he had on his neck being made of henna so that it would disappear and the police would be put off the scent.
  • Gone in 60 Seconds (2000): Randall "Memphis" Raines is a famous car thief who retired to prevent his brother from following in his footsteps. However, when his brother is threatened by Raymond Calitri, Memphis comes out of retirement to steal 50 cars for Calitri and save his brother. Plotting a near perfect of the theft of them in one night, Memphis has his team use multiple clever tactics to find each car, with Memphis disguising himself as a rich costumer in order to learn about a dealership's warehouse full of them. Upon discovering that the cops are staking out four of the cars, Memphis masterminds the theft of four other cars from the police impound, having one of his gang act as a distraction. Saving a car he failed to steal before for last, Memphis uses "Eleanor" to outrun and stay one step ahead of the cops before killing Calitri for betraying him. Giving the cops back the cars, Memphis ends the film going back into retirement.
  • Goodfellas: Paul "Paulie" Cicero is a charismatic, feared, and respected capo who runs the daily criminal dealings around New York. Using his brother's store and other partners' businesses as a front for his outfit, Paulie runs a tight ship of extortion, embezzlement and burglary, using everything from bribery to murder to keep things under wraps. Paulie stays one step ahead of law enforcement and any rival gangs, facing even prison time with nothing but grace as he continues to rule from behind bars while cooking his fellow inmates delicious meals. Though having a soft spot for some of his minions, Paulie ultimately arranges the murderous Tommy's execution and ousts the drug addict Henry from his organization as a liability, nonetheless paying Henry a hefty sum before turning his back on him.
  • The Goonies: One-Eyed Willy is a legendarily successful, self-made pirate who warranted having a whole armada sent after his ship, the Inferno. This armada chased Willy to uncharted territory and trapped his ship in a grotto, but he and his crew survived and spent years setting traps throughout the surrounding caverns, which killed at least one treasure hunter centuries later. Willy killed most of his crew to keep his treasure secure, but one man escaped with a map and the story. When 1980s schoolchildren find his map, they enter the caves and barely navigate a series of deadly traps. Willy's respect for anyone capable of making it a certain distance is demonstrated by how his later traps have posted warnings offering people a chance to go back, but also allow treasure hunters to continue forward if they display enough intelligence. The final trap is only triggered by taking gold that Willy was weighing for himself before his death, while the rest of the treasure is available to anyone who wants it.
  • The Grand Budapest Hotel: Ludwig is a genial, elderly criminal locked up at Checkpoint 19 in the Former Republic of Zubrowka. When Gustave H. is incarcerated there after being framed for murder, he wins Ludwig's respect by beating up one of his gang, and is allowed to join the gang's plan to escape. Ludwig has memorized the entire layout of the prison and created numerous supplies to assist in the getaway right under the guards' noses, lacking only digging tools, which Gustave arranges to be smuggled in inside parties. Succeeding in their escape plan, Ludwig and his gang cheerfully bid Gustave goodbye before just as cheerfully hijacking a passing bus to make good their escape.
  • The Gray Man (2022):
    • Imprisoned for murdering his abusive father to stop him from drowning his brother, Courtland "Court" Gentry was recruited into the CIA as a black ops assassin under the codename "Sierra Six". After his dying target passes him an incriminating USB drive proving that his boss, Denny Carmichael, is involved in criminal activity, Six goes rogue. When Carmichael has his lackey Lloyd Hansen kidnap Six's mentor Donald Fitzroy and Fitzroy's niece Claire, Six tracks Claire's location down with her pacemaker, storms Hansen's base and rescues Claire, all while taking down squads of mercernaries sent after him. While he and Claire are captured shortly afterward, Six fakes unresponsiveness while recuperating from his injuries, breaks out of government custody and rescues Claire.
    • Lone Wolf, real name Avik San, is a mercenary hired to retrieve the USB drive from Sierra Six. Cornering him in a hospital, he defeats both Six and his ally Dani Miranda in hand-to-hand combat before successfully fleeing with the drive. Passing the drive to Lloyd Hansen, he is appalled to learn that Hansen has kidnapped and is threatening to kill a little girl. Surviving after the room he was in was struck by an RPG, Lone Wolf re-retrieves the drive and runs into Miranda again. After beating her in a brief fight, Lone Wolf hands the drive over to her out of disgust towards Hansen's methods.
  • The Great Silence: Silence himself is given a far more dignified end in the more uplifting alternate ending. A mute, intelligent gunfighter who lures bounty hunters into drawing on him so he might be justified in killing them, Silence comes to the town of Snow Hill where he organizes a resistance against the wicked banker Henry Pollicut. Seemingly walking into a trap set by the evil killer Loco, Silence reveals he was faking his injuries and exhaustion while wearing a hidden gauntlet to protect his hand before taking out Loco's men and securing victory for the outlaws just before settling down for a life with the beautiful widow Pauline and accepting Sheriff Burnett's offer to be his deputy with a glowing smile.
  • The Green Knight: The titular Green Knight is a mysterious being testing the knighthood of young Gawain, offering his neck to a blow at Christmas Day with the stipulation that Gawain will receive a strike in turn a year hence. After leaving with his own severed head, the Green Knight is heavily implied to be the lord of a nearby castle who likewise tests Gawain with his wife and a magical girdle before their final confrontation in the Green Chapel. The Green Knight then indicates it was all a test once Gawain removes the girdle after a vision of the future and leaves it unclear if he will spare Gawain or take his head for real.
  • Gremlins:
    • First film: Stripe, the leader of the Gremlins, is one of the Mogwai replicated from Gizmo. A natural leader from the start, Stripe wastes no time in tormenting Gizmo and his human Billy before tricking Billy into feeding him and his cohorts after Midnight by biting through the wires of the clock. Upon achieving his transformation into a Gremlin, Stripe flees the humans and finds a way to spawn countless other Gremlins before unleashing them on a hapless town and simply savoring the resulting chaos. Upon the deaths of his fellows, a furious Stripe resorts to ambushes to try to kill Billy and Gizmo, intending on multiplying to create a new breed of followers.
    • The New Batch: Upon ingesting a brain-altering substance, the aptly named "Brain Gremlin" concocts a scheme to wipe out mankind for the cultivation of his people. To do this, he orchestrates comical chaos throughout New York City, injecting his underling with a genetic sunblock and masquerading as a financial adviser to ruin investors with terrible advice. Despite his genocidal designs, he is nevertheless a classy monster, best exemplified by him arranging for his minions to perform classical musical renditions when his victory was at hand and genuinely wishing for the betterment of his people.
  • Grizzly Park: Ranger Bob initially leads a group of delinquents in an effort to clean Grizzly Park in the hope of rehabilitating them. Upon discovering that some of the delinquents he is supervising got off lightly for more heinous crimes, Bob tries to get them to learn from their misdeeds, only to be ignored. When the delinquents continue to act disruptively, Bob sets a grizzly bear on the delinquents, eliminating them one at a time before comforting the Final Girl when he finds her. Later overhearing her bragging she fooled him, as well as contemplating Bob's murder, Bob sets the bear on her, before framing an escaped convict for the deaths that the bear caused.
  • The Guard: Francis Sheehy-Skeffington and his partner Clive Cornell are a pair of affable international drug dealers seeking to smuggle millions of dollars' worth of cocaine into Ireland. Murdering one of their partners on suspicions of being an informant and masking his death as an occult killing to throw off police, Sheehy and Cornell also use a set of circumstances to throw blame on a random drunkard. When Sergeant Gerry Boyle begins investigating them, the duo try to blackmail and bribe him, expressing respect at the man's principles when he refuses both. Ultimately using their police connections to pay off corrupt officials and distract federal agents from the drug shipment, Sheehy and Cornell nearly succeed, with both facing death at Boyle's hands with surprising grace and—in Cornell's case—even complimenting Boyle on his lethal shooting skills.
  • The Guest: David Collins is an immensely charming soldier home from war and hell-bent on "taking care" of the Peterson family through any means necessary. Transformed into a super soldier by the government, David uses his enhanced strength and speed to effortlessly kill and brutalize anyone in his way, humiliating bullies targeting Luke Peterson and murdering the boss of Spencer Peterson to get the man a promotion. Effortlessly weaving his way into the Peterson house and their entire neighborhood as a beloved and polite man, David soon enough reveals his true colors after his programming to protect his identity from compromising kicks in, causing him to begin murdering the entire Peterson family, even while showcasing his regret. When beaten after wiping out an entire military squad sent after him, David praises Anna and Luke's efforts in stopping him, and still manages to get away with his life intact when the smoke clears.
  • Gunpowder Milkshake:
    • Samantha "Sam" follows in her mother Scarlet's footsteps and becomes an expert assassin in her own right. Sam shows her skills perfectly while taking out numerous men at one point, overpowering and severely injuring three fellow assassins and then killing them all later on even when a drug causes her arms to be paralyzed and temporarily prevent full use of them. Seeking to protect a young girl named Emily after killing her father, Sam re-teams with Scarlet and others to fight and kill more of the men sent after them, offers herself up instead when Emily's captured and then tracks down and threatens the villainous Nathan and the Firm to force them all to back down or suffer the consequences.
    • Scarlet has been an expert assassin since her daughter Sam was a young girl. After single-handedly shooting a whole group of men dead for threatening Sam, Scarlet leaves her behind for the next 15 years to protect her, but secretly keeps track of Sam in that time. Approached by Sam later on when Sam is protecting the young Emily, Scarlet leads them through a secret passageway, convinces former colleagues and friends Madeleine, Anna May and Florence, to help them fight and kill numerous men who come for them all and then later Scarlet and the others help Sam and Emily escape by threatening and killing all the remaining men.
  • Guns Akimbo: Phoenix "Nix" Degraves is the feared reigning champion of Skizm, with the skills to dispatch dozens of opponents at a time. Set to fight protagonist Mile Lee Harris, Nix disguises herself as a cop to break into a precinct and track Miles' phone, amicably giving him pointers on how to fight whilst hunting him through Shrapnel City after finding him. When Miles reveals to her Skizm's head Riktor orchestrated her family's deaths, Nix joins forces with him, faking killing Miles so the duo can break into Riktor's base, gunning through swathes of his men. Eventually surrounded, Nix, adamant to die on her own terms, uses a suicide bomb to kill Riktor's remaining forces and allowing Miles to hunt down and kill Riktor himself.

  • Hackers: The titular hackers and their villainous rival are genius lawbreakers:
    • Dade Murphy is the infamous "Zero Cool", who crashed over 1,500 computers as a child. At the age of 18, Dade joins a group of hackers at school and discovers the villainous Plague's plot to swindle the Ellingson corporation and frame his friends. With the group Dade uses viruses to keep their hunters at bay while his friend finds evidence of the Plague's crimes, ending the film exonerated to do as he pleases.
    • Kate Libby, aka "Acid Burn", is a popular hacker whom Dade becomes smitten with. Intrigued by Dade, Kate shows her talents pranking an anti-hacker government agent before working with Dade to expose the Plague's schemes. Directing the other hackers, Kate helps protect the one copying the Plague's files, allowing for the villain to be exposed and arrested.
    • Joey Pardella is a talented but initially naive hacker. Caught after incidentally getting evidence of the Plague's crimes, Joey later uses his skills to copy enough of his misdeeds to expose him, freeing his friends and jailing the Plague.
    • Emmanual Goldstein, aka "Cereal Killer" and Paul Cook, aka "Lord Nikon", are best friends and Kate's silly-seeming supporting hackers. Geniuses under their goofy facades, the two help Kate prank Agent Richard Gill and latter assist in stopping the Plague: Cereal remaining incognito to grab the disc exposing the villain's plans and Nikon writing viruses to help Joey uncover said disc.
    • Razor and Blade are a pair of audacious, influential hackers. Running a show, the duo show aspiring hackers how to successfully break the law. When Kate comes to them for help to stop the Plague, Razor and Blade use their magnetic charm to draw hackers from around the world, protecting the heroes and hacking a broadcast to allow Cereal to expose the Plague as the villain.
    • Eugene Belford, aka "The Plague", is a former master hacker turned security consultant. Secretly running a program to swindle millions of dollars from the Ellingson corporation, the Plague is awakened by Joey's incidental discovery of his crimes. Dissuading the hackers by threatening and bribing Dade, the Plague plans to blame the teens for his own virus program set to capsize Ellingson oil tankers as a distraction. Confronting the heroes in a cyber duel, the Plague is only beaten when they get assistance from hackers around the world and when finally caught while fleeing, uses the situation to make one final quip before being arrested.
  • The Handmaiden: Lady Izumi Hideko and Nam Sook-hee are a pair of young women who are initially brought into Count Fujiwara's conspiracy against one another, both deceiving all around them to send the other to an asylum while the other escapes. Upon falling in love, the two realize Fujiwara and Hideko's monstrous uncle Kouzuki are their true enemies, and hatch a plan to play them against one another. The two organize a breakout to get Sook-hee out from the asylum, escaping with all of Hideko's money, managing to see Kouzuki and Fujiwara dead and fleeing Korea for Shanghai, a free and happy couple together.
  • Hannibal Lecter: Dr. Hannibal Lecter himself is a brilliant, soft-spoken psychiatrist who it turns out is the cannibalistic "Chesapeake Ripper". In his first chronological appearance, Lecter, when he grows into a young man, hunts down and kills the Nazi soldiers who murdered and ate his younger sister when he was a child. In his next chronological appearance years later, after being caught by FBI Agent Will Graham and renamed "Hannibal the Cannibal", Lecter reluctantly helps track a new serial killer called "The Tooth Fairy" while also trying to undermine and get revenge on Graham by making him and his family targets and years after that, Lecter helps FBI trainee Clarice Starling do the same with serial killer "Buffalo Bill", using his vast knowledge and mental skills on both occasions. Legitimately caring for Starling, Lecter promises not to go after her after taking out guards and others while escaping from prison and about a decade later, Lecter avoids capture and bounty from child molester Mason Verger while also keeping Starling from harm and holding strong on his personal mantra "to eat the rude" all along.
  • Hard Boiled: Mad Dog is the enforcer of Johnny Wong and the real mastermind behind his boss's rise to power. An intelligent and ruthless man, Mad Dog orchestrates the coup against Uncle Hoi and is able to deceive the cops to get near and murder the informant Foxy. Planning to use the hospital as a staging ground for the final battle, Mad Dog plans to let the hostages go but is horrified when Johnny Wong plans to murder them all. Disgusted as his boss's lack of honor, Mad Dog finally turns on his employer and only fails to kill him due to running out of bullets.
  • Hard Candy: Hayley Stark is an extremely gifted teenage girl who uses her intellect to lure out pedophiles, rapists and murderers. Hayley gets them into a false sense of security making them believe she is a naive young girl, before tearing into to them both physically and emotionally, then driving them to suicide. Upon luring out Jeff, Hayley tears into him so bad that she pushes him into the Five Stages of Grief, until finally calling his alleged former hookup, Janelle, and threatening to play the victim card in front of her unless Jeff kills himself.
  • Hardcore Henry: Jimmy is a wacky and brilliant scientist who uses his bevy of clone avatars to assist the cyborg Henry in his quest for revenge against Akan. Having been crippled by Akan years ago following employment to the madman, Jimmy now seeks to screw with his former boss in any way possible, and seeks out Henry to truthfully manipulate him into being his pawn against Akan. Protecting, advising, and guiding Henry throughout the film in prolonging Henry's robotic life and tracking down his kidnapped lover, Jimmy shows an immense amount of charisma and swagger in each and every one of his clone avatars, playing them all up with hammy pizzazz even while mowing down enemy soldiers or torturing them for information. Luring an entire squadron of Akan's troops into a trap that wipes them all out, Jimmy leads Henry in breaking into Akan's base of operations, and, though lethally wounded in the process, Jimmy admits to having grown attached to Henry as a friend, and thanks him for all the fun they've had together. As a last good deed, Jimmy removes a memory blocker from the cyborg's mind and wishes him well, before dying with utmost dignity after making Henry promise to brutally kill Akan for both their sakes.
  • The Harder They Fall (2021):
    • Nathaniel "Nat" Love is an outlaw and the leader of a small band of cowboys who steal from other outlaws. Swearing revenge against Rufus Buck after he killed his parents as a child, Nat spends years gradually killing off members of Buck's gang whilst forming his own. After stealing $25,000 from Buck's cronies and discovering that Buck will soon be broken out of prison, Nat opts to use the opportunity to take out Buck himself. When his lover, Stagecoach Mary, gets captured by Buck, Nat steals $35,000 from a bank to secure her safety, threatening to blow up all the money with dynamite in case Mary isn't freed. When a member of his gang is killed during a standoff, Nat destroys all the money in front of Buck, successfully rescues Mary, and finally avenges his parents' murders by hunting down and killing Buck.
    • Rufus Buck is an outlaw and Nat Love's Arch-Enemy. Seeking vengeance after his father abused him and killed his mother, Buck spent several years hunting down his father, and successfully murdered him and Nat's mother, while scarring Nat so he'd remember the boy was when he grew older. Years later, Buck and his gang use their resources to build Redwood City, whilst also threatening its citizens if they didn't pay taxes or went against their laws. After Buck is broken out of jail and approached by Stagecoach Mary, Buck has her imprisoned, knowing that Nat is secretly trying to dismantle his operation. He later forces Nat to steal $35,000 from a bank, despite knowing it'll raise his notoriety. After Buck's plans are foiled and Nat confronts Buck, Buck refuses to fight him, instead choosing to reveal that they're half siblings and that Buck's plan to let Nat grow up to become an outlaw worked exactly as he planned.
    • Trudy Smith is one of Rufus Buck's Co-Dragons. A no-nonsense but calm outlaw, Trudy frequently commits violence against anyone who opposes her or her companions. While assisting Cherokee Bill with breaking out Buck from a train, she wounds some of the soldiers on the train and assists Bill with killing the rest. She later helps Buck with his schemes to get more money for Redwood City and kidnaps and almost kills Stagecoach Mary. When Nat Love's gang and Buck's cronies engage in a shootout after Nat blows up Buck's money, Trudy lures Mary into an abandoned building and nearly beats her to death.
  • Harry Potter: Severus Snape's film incarnation emphasizes his charm and downplays his petty vitriol and cruelty. Once the abused son of Tobias Snape, Severus entered Slytherin at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he became a brilliant student and the self-styled "Half-Blood Prince". After joining Lord Voldemort as a Death Eater, Snape turned to Dumbledore's side at great personal risk when his beloved Lily Potter was threatened. After Voldemort's return, Snape continues to serve as Hogwarts' Potion teacher before rejoining Voldemort as a Double Agent. Assisting in the fall of the Dark Lord, Snape even kills Dumbledore at the latter's insist to spare Draco Malfoy's life and soul, ingratiating himself further to the Death Eaters while using his new position as Hogwarts Headmaster to protect the students while hindering Voldemort's side where he can. Even at point of death, Snape uses his final moments to gift Harry Potter his memories to help him and is memorialized later as the namesake for Harry's son Albus Severus Potter, described as the bravest man Harry ever knew.
  • Haywire: Mallory Kane is a Marine-turned-mercenary who has hired herself out to Private Military Contractors for years, and become renowned for her skills so much that even the CIA values her enough to pay extra to get her presence on select missions. Upon being betrayed and framed by her former boss and lover Kenneth, Mallory cleverly exposes her attempted assassin and kills him, using his cell phone to trick Kenneth into revealing his hand in the treachery. Evading Kenneth's goons and law enforcement alike with skill and swagger, Mallory takes a hostage from a diner simply to reveal the details of Kenneth's crimes to him and use him as a messenger to get her allied with the CIA. Mallory uses Agent Alex Coblenz to lure Kenneth into a trap, where she slaughters the man's security team and sends him on the run, after which Mallory tracks Kenneth down, learns the locations of his allies, then leaves Kenneth to die, intent on taking down the rest of those who betrayed her even after clearing her name.
  • Heat:
    • Neil McCauley is a master thief who organizes masterful heists to keep his lifestyle going. Pulling off a daring heist against an armored car to steal bearer bonds and then sell them back to their original owner, things go wrong when the psychotic Waingro executes a guard and escapes Neil's attempt to kill him in retribution. Neil then plans a masterful bank heist, executing it almost flawlessly if not for Waingro and his arch-nemesis Steve van Zant tipping off the cops. After losing his friends and comrades, Neil even forsakes a chance to get to safety in order to avenge them by killing van Zant and Waingro before facing off with his nemesis, LAPD cop Vincent Hanna with whom he shares an incredible respect despite being on the opposite ends of the law.
    • Nate is Neil's personal advisor and fence, who regularly hooks Neil up with promising leads and strategies for his criminal heists. Nate concocts a brilliant win-win plan for Neil and his rival Van Zant, and arranges all the pieces to fall into place for both crooks to come out ahead; it is only Van Zant's petty arrogance that ruins the arrangement. When Neil is sent on the run by Van Zant's efforts, Nate continues to orchestrate affairs from behind the scenes to assist Neil in fleeing the country and assassinating Van Zant, Nate having played his cards so well that he faces no justice for any of his actions by the end of the story.
  • Heathers: Jason "JD" Dean is a rebellious teenager who swoons the heroine Veronica with his bad boy image by scaring Ram and Kurt by firing blanks at them in the high school cafeteria. JD convinces Veronica to jointly prank Heather Chandler with a mystery drink, not informing Veronica that he switched her concoction with drain cleaner. When Heather dies, they cover it up by forging a suicide note. JD follows this up by having Veronica lure Kurt and Ram into the woods with the offer of a threeway, then fatally shooting them both and make it appear as a Suicide Pact between two secret homosexual lovers, tricking Veronica by telling her that he's using special "Ich Lüge" bullets. JD also facilitates Heather Duke's rise to prominence in order to have every student in the school sign a petition for a mass gathering. JD intends to blow up the whole school with a bomb stolen from his father's demolition company and frame the entire thing as a mass suicide, believing he's doing them all a favor by sending them to heaven with no social differences to fight over. After Veronica dismantles his bomb, JD follows her outside to compliment her spirit and blow himself up in front of her.
  • Heist (2015):
    • Luke Vaughn is a retired criminal who decides to pull off one final heist to pay for the surgery his sickly daughter needs. Teaming up with the bloodthirsty Cox, Vaughn lays out a plan to rob the impregnable Swan casino, successfully evading guards and bypassing the locks. Though exposed, Vaughn planned for such an occasion and takes a bus of passengers hostage, using the bus to keep ahead of pursuing police. Vaughn makes a hostage exchange of a supposedly pregnant woman—actually Vaughn's sister, who he slips the stolen casino money to hide in her fake pregnant belly—to show good faith with the cops, and later murders Cox to prevent him from harming an innocent passenger. Despite his criminal actions, Vaughn's kindness spurs the very people he took hostage to help him escape the police, and though he is then cornered by the Swan's owner, Pope, Vaughn reveals to him that the entire bus-hijacking was planned from the start and that his daughter's surgery has already been paid for by his sister with Pope's stolen money.
    • Francis "the Pope" Silva is an aged crime boss who has set up a cushy job for himself as the owner of the Swan casino, that doubles as a money laundering outfit for every major crime family in the city. The Pope has designed the Swan to be imprenetrable, and ruthlessly tracks down and kills anyone who cheats him out of even a small amount of money, simply on principle. When Luke Vaughn leads a heist on the Swan, Pope dispatches his right-hand man Dog to track Vaughn down, eventually cornering Vaughn. Though initially prepared to kill Vaughn, Pope is impressed at Vaughn's scheme and his motive to save his sickly daughter, and so Pope executes the vicious Dog for threatening Vaughn's family, then helps Vaughn escape so he can reunite with his daughter.
  • Hellboy films:
    • 2004 film: Grigori Rasputin is the agent of the Ogdru-Jahad on Earth, and the ultimate villain of the film. Responsible for summoning Hellboy in the first place during World War II, Rasputin returns from death sixty years after the fact in order to oversee the next stage of his plan, manipulating Liz into returning to the B.P.R.D., reviving Sammael the Desolate One, infiltrating the B.P.R.D. with Kroenen, and using the murder of Professor Bruttenholm to bring Hellboy to Moscow. Luring the B.P.R.D. team into his mausoleum, Rasputin subdues them all, and offers Hellboy a veritable Deal with the Devil, promising to return the soul he has stolen from Liz in exchange for Hellboy choosing to summon the Ogdru-Jahad and end the world. Killed when this plan fails, Rasputin's last act is to gloat as Sadu-Hem, spawn of the Ogdru-Jahad, uses his body to enter the world, proving with yet another death, that his own mortality is still no obstacle to his plans.
    • The Golden Army: Prince Nuada Silverlance, after centuries of watching his people die out due to humanity's greed, returns in a last attempt to wipe out mankind and save his people. Attempting to find three pieces of a crown to control the mechanical Golden Army, Nuada first eliminates an entire auction and acquires a piece. Remorsefully killing his father and acquiring the second piece after being refused his family's support, Nuada pursues his sister Nuala to get the final piece. Nuada ambushes her and the heroes Hellboy and Abe Sapien, sending in his minion Wink and summoning a Forest God when things go awry, making Hellboy question his faith in humanity. Nuada continues to track the final crown piece to BRPD headquarters, where he pointedly spares the guard dogs before attacking and deducing the secrets of the map to the Golden Army. Nuada then takes Nuala hostage, taking advantage of Abe's love for her to get the final crown piece and activate the Golden Army. Even when defeated, Nuada gives a genuine warning to Hellboy that he will have to choose between magical beings and humans, proving himself loyal to his cause and his people to the end.
  • Hellraiser: Kirsty Cotton, daughter of Larry Cotton, begins the series as a kindhearted young woman whose hedonistic, monstrous uncle Frank was taken by the Order of the Gash, aka the Cenobites. Upon the undead Frank's return to the land of the living, Kirsty inadvertently opens the Lament Configuration and bargains with the Cenobites to offer Frank to them in her stead. Tricking him into exposing himself, Kirsty later banishes the Cenobites and demonstrates her penchant for planning when she wears the skin of her revived evil stepmother Julia to outwit the Cenobites' God, Leviathan. Years later, Kirsty's husband plots to kill her for her money and forces her to open the Lament Configuration again, but Kirsty turns the tables and bargains with the Hell Priest. Killing her husband's co-conspirator and mistresses, Kirsty then murders him and makes it look like an accident to hand his soul to the Cenobites.
  • Hercules (2014): Rhesus is a Rebel Leader allegedly pillaging the Thracian countryside. In reality fighting against the evil King Cotys, Rhesus takes any means possible to defend his country, even setting up an ambush to kill Cotys' armed farmers fighting him. Defeated after a grueling battle, Rhesus reveals Cotys' true intentions to Hercules and helps the hero break free of their captor, fighting through Cotys' men to kill the vile king and save Greece.
  • Hero (2002): "Nameless" is a Zhao loyalist seeking to kill the King of Qin posing as a Qin prefect. Concocting a story of defeating the King's deadliest enemies, Nameless stages duels to Qin soldiers to make his tale perfect, all to get himself within ten paces of the King to kill him. Even when the King sees through the stories, Nameless is still able to take the lead and provide him with the philosophies of true martial arts, ensuring the King will seek to conquer and unify the nation into one state, even letting himself be killed so the King may continue to become The Emperor of "All Under Heaven."
  • A History of Violence: Tom Stall, a mild-mannered family man, was previously "Crazy Fuckin’ Joey" Cusack, a psychotic member of the Irish mob known for his brutality. Creating the personality of Tom to hide from the mob, Tom grows to care for his wife and kids, while willing to take down several killers who threaten his friends and family. Reuniting with his brother Richie to shut his organization down, Tom is able to escape Richie’s trap and wipe him and his whole gang out using stealth and deception, ending the story being tearily welcomed back into the family lifestyle that he’s grown attached to.
  • The Hitman's Bodyguard films:
    • Original film: Darius Kincaid committed his first murder to avenge his father and spent the next several decades building his reputation as one of the world's best assassins, once killing a target while in place for another and pulling the other off. After being incarcerated, Darius agrees to testify against deposed Belarusian President Vladislav Dukhovich and agrees to a longer prison sentence in exchange for his wife Sonia going free. Battering and dodging his way through teams of mercenaries on the way to the courthouse alongside professional bodyguard Michael Bryce, Darius, who prides himself on never hurting innocent people, reveals that Dukhovich ordered the slaughter of an innocent village, providing key evidence for a guilty verdict. When Dukhovich bombs the courthouse in an attempt to escape, Darius personally sabotages his escape plan and kills him for shooting Bryce. With Sonia going free, Darius later breaks himself out of prison and reunites with her for their anniversary.
    • The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard: Sonia Kincaid, wife of Darius and a former conwoman, proves herself to be completely on par with her husband's expertise and efficiency. At first being locked up in the first movie to leverage Darius against Dukhovich, Sonia is shown in flashback to have taken out numerous men in a bar by herself the night she and Darius met and he instantly fell for her and handles herself very well against government agents questioning her while also easily intimidating her much bigger cellmate too. By the time the second movie comes around, she forces Michael back into the game to help her rescue Darius while single-handedly taking out numerous armed gunman all on her own and taking out more when actually saving Darius too. Deceiving a mark for the sale of a dangerous explosive device, Sonia also successfully fights off a henchwoman while making sure the device doesn't go off in the process either. While pretending that Aristotle Papadopoulos is playing her against Darius, Sonia counteracts Aristotle's attempt to play and murder her too while taking out another henchwoman who's more of a challenge this time, helping stop Aristotle's plot against Europe and helping Darius take Aristotle out too.
  • Hobo with a Shotgun:
    • The unnamed Hobo himself was once a defenseless man too powerless to fight back against the crime and corruption of Hope Town, until he found a shotgun. After killing some robbers and paying the pawn shop owner for the shotgun, the Hobo commences a war against crime by killing every criminal he can find, frequently using deception to lower his opponents' guards, or killing them while they're distracted. Brutally killing all kinds of criminals no matter how minor their crimes are, when the Hobo finally gets the Drake in his sights, the Hobo anticipates his own demise at the hands of the police, happily acknowledging to the Drake that he'll be heading to Hell alongside him, with the Drake "riding shotgun!"
    • Rip and Grinder form "the Plague", a badass demonic duo who hire themselves out as hitmen and bounty hunters. Killing since ancient times, with some of their previous targets including Abraham Lincoln and Jesus Christ, the Plague are hired by the Drake to bring him the Hobo. Tracking him down at the hospital, the Plague kill every doctor in their path and capture the Hobo by posing as his friend Abby in order to lower his guard. Should one of them fall, the other will have them replaced by their killer to extend their immortality, with Rip attempting to have Abby take Grinder's spot after she kills him, though leaves her be at the Hobo's request.
  • Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York: Johnny, the protagonist of the in universe films Angels with Filthy Souls and Angels with even Filthier Souls, is a ruthless film noir gangster that is always ahead of the curve. In the first film, when Snakes comes to his office to drop off the stuff, he demands the 10% cut Acey promised him - whom Johnny had already overthrown, presumably killing him and taking over his operation, making Snakes sweat bullets before Johnny pumps him full of bullets. In the second film, his dame, Carlotta, has been unfaithful to him, which he knows all about, listing numerous lovers and taking apart her excuses, before blowing her away as well. A figure that strikes fear into children and adults alike, Johnny makes the most of his brief screen time.
  • Homeless for the Holidays (2009): The unnamed charity Santa is the well-intentioned villain of the film. Offsetting the Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist Jack, he states after a poor donation that Jack's life will change for the worse placing a curse on him. Following that, 800 people are poisoned by one of Jack's products and threaten lawsuits, so to save his fellow employees, Jack is fired. After countless attempts to get another job, Jack is nearly homeless and spends the last of his money on a homeless man. This results in the Santa feeling generous and deciding to gradually reverse the curse causing Jack to get $400 from an eight-year-old girl, and while he does lose his house, his old company has a change of heart and re-hires him. A charming and charismatic fellow who is willing to go to extreme lengths to teach a lesson in humility, Santa proved to be the highlight of the film he was in.

  • Honor Society:
    • Honor Rose is desperate to get out of her town and into Harvard. When her perverted guidance counselor Mr. Calvin tells her there are three other students (Kennedy, Travis and Michael) in the running for his recommendation she decides to sabotage the competition. She first manages to get Kennedy's play running and Travis in the lead while also helping Travis come to turns with his sexuality. While their grades to begin to suffer she ends up bonding with them. Meanwhile she goes about trying to seduce Michael, but ends being charmed by him instead and abandons the plan. When Calvin tells her she could still get the recommendation by sleeping with him, she declines. Later she finds out Michael was playing her for a fool. Briefly heartbroken, Travis and Kennedy convince her to help put on the play and newly reinvigorated, she ends up blackmailing Calvin with his proposition, telling him to give the recommendation to Kennedy. She ends the film bowling with her friends, content with the fact that even if she doesn't get into Harvard, she'll be fine.
    • Michael Dipnicky is the resident school loser and nerd. When he realizes Honor is trying to sabotage him, he goes about charming her instead. He first notices her handmaids tale book and quotes from it, while also making her think he lives in a foster home. When she inadvertently runs into him near his own home, he pretends to break in while covering up evidence that he lives there, further charming her. In the end she abandons her plan to sabotage his grades. When she finds out what he did, she is heartbroken and he points out that she does have heart of gold underneath her fake exterior, helping Kennedy find herself and Travis come to terms with his sexuality. Meanwhile he's not pretty enough nor athletic enough to be liked by the school body so he decided to stop trying. Ultimately he wants to get into Harvard. And he ends the film nearly seconds away from getting the recommendation from Mr. Calvin to get into Harvard.
  • Hook: Captain James Hook has been waiting decades for his Arch-Enemy Peter Pan to give him the Final Battle he craves. Hook abducts Peter's children to lure him back to Neverland, but is dismayed to learn that Peter has become a cowardly middle-aged man with no memories of his youthful adventures. After striking a deal with Tinkerbell to give her three days to get Peter back into shape, Hook uses the time to emotionally manipulate Peter's son Jack, preying on Peter's neglect of him to warp Jack's memories and convince Jack he is Hook's son. On the third day when Peter returns to their duel, Hook achieves the ultimate revenge on him by meeting him with Jack at his side, now wearing an identical outfit to Hook's and having no idea who Peter is. Charming, affable, and articulate, while also being ruthless, murderous, and hateful, Hook outwits Peter again and again and gets exactly what he wants for it — a final duel with his greatest enemy.
  • Horrible Bosses: Dean "Motherfuckah" Jones is an ex-convict who started his life of crime stealing his drunk mother's money. Serving as Nick, Kurt and Dale's "murder consultant", he cons the three out of their money to give them mediocre advice on how to murder their corrupt bosses. Across the film, Jones grows to enjoy the trio's company, even helping Dale blackmail his boss to stop her sexual harassment. In the second film, he assists them in proving their innocence in Bert Hansen's murder and arresting the real culprit, Bert's son Rex. Soft-spoken and charismatic, Jones escapes the police to use the 5 million dollars Rex intended to use for his fake ransom plot to invest in Pinkberry.
  • Hostage: Jeff Talley is a police chief and traumatized former hostage negotiator whose family is taken captive by the mob in the midst of a hostage situation involving the Smith family, the father Walter of whom has their encrypted disk. Retrieving the disk through communication with the family son, Jeff also nearly shocks the unconscious Walter to death to have him take Jeff to the drop location, where he stages a fight with him to trick and kill the remaining criminals.
  • Hotel Artemis:
    • Jean "The Nurse" Thomas runs the titular hospital that criminals go to where she only entry members access, even throwing out a non-member for demanding access. Jean also has a secret tunnel she uses to sneak an injured cop into the hotel and uses the same tunnel to escape with her remaining patients when Crosby Franklin and his goons breach the hotel after she tricks Crosby's father into confessing to murdering her son. When Crosby blocks her escape, Jean helps Waikiki kill him before the two part ways.
    • Nice is a seductive yet professional assassin hired to kill Orian "The Wolf King" Franklin. Having already wounded him, Nice injures herself so that she can gain entrance to Hotel Artemis, knowing that the Wolf King will have to go there to get patched up. When the Wolf King arrives, Nice blows up the power box leaving him vulnerable for her to kill. This also leads to Honolulu's death and when confronted about it by his brother, Waikiki, Nice gets him to lower his gun by claim not knowing Honolulu was on life support and reminding him of their past relationship. Nice later volunteers to take on the Wolf King's men allowing Waikiki and Jean to escape, while implying to have escaped the onslaught unscathed.
  • House of Darkness (2022): Mina, along with her sisters Lucy and Nora, pose as two siblings. Mina allows protagonist Hap to approach her in a bar so she can bring him back to her beautiful estate in a rural area. Introducing him to Lucy, the two make it apparent they are hiding something from Hap as they tell him a tale of how they and Nora were saved from their abuse victims rescued by their mysterious "father". The trio have since taken to luring predatory or boorish men to their home to toy with and destroy them. Playing with Hap more before bringing him into a trap, the sisters reveal their vampiric nature who have used this trick countless times before, collectively feeding on Hap when he is helpless and shows his true misogynistic colors.
  • House on Haunted Hill (1959): Frederick Loren is an Eccentric Millionaire who hosts a party for his wife Annabelle at a supposedly haunted house, with promises that any of the guests who make it until morning will receive 10,000 dollars. Seemingly paranoid about Annabelle's intentions, it turns out she is trying to murder him. Loren, however, is aware of this, knowing one of the guests is her partner-in-crime. Manipulating all the guests with fake hauntings, and faking his own death, Loren proceeds to murder Annabelle's lover and uses a skeleton to fool her into falling into a vat of acid before promising to give a full account to the authorities—albeit concealing several details to make himself look more sympathetic.
  • How to Be a Serial Killer: Mike Wilson is a hilariously charming Serial Killer who believes in using his status as a murderer to improve the world and impart his way of life to others. Mike has gotten away with dozens of killings for years, targeting people who are rude or harmful to society before killing them in creative ways. Having a code of honor that prohibits targeting children or committing sexual crimes, Mike also avoids harming the homeless, believing them to be victims of a failing society who deserve kindness and charity. Taking doormat and aspiring murderer Bart under his wing, Mike instructs him on the fun of being a mass murderer while continuing to get away with many slayings. Though eventually exposed to the law after he murders his girlfriend, Mike fights off and kills several cops all on his lonesome, and even when he is finally caught and sentenced to die, Mike pretends Bart was his hostage so that Bart can continue Mike's work in murder for a long time to come.
  • Hudson Hawk: George Kaplan is a charming CIA operative who works with the villainous Mayflower couple as their primary heavy-lifter. Having gotten the infamous master thief "Hudson Hawk" thrown into prison by manipulating him before the story's start, Kaplan further plays Hawk by gaining incriminating evidence and forcing him to be the Mayflower's pawn in stealing prized artifacts for them. Serving as the voice of reason to the Mayflowers' psychotic theatrics, Kaplan ends up utterly trouncing Hawk in a physical fight despite his elderly age, and is only killed by a series of coincidences, leading to his death that he faces by merely bemoaning the loss of his pension.
  • The Hustle: Thomas Westerburg is the grandson and successor of legendary con artist, Medusa. Posing as the billionaire creator of the tech app YaBurnt as a ploy to lure out Penny and Josephine knowing that the two intend on swindling him, Thomas plays the part of a naive young man he convinces Josephine to "invest" $500,000 into his app and guilt trips Penny into giving him another $500,000 by tricking her into believing that he paid for her "eye surgery". Leaving the country with his loot, when Thomas returns he teams up with them in his scams, having taken a genuine liking to the two women.
  • I Am Legend: In the original ending, the Alpha Male is methodical and intelligent, contrasting with the seemingly mindless monster he was reduced to in the theatrical cut. Enraged when Robert Neville steals his mate from him, he observes Neville's increasingly unstable habits from the shadows, luring him into a trap and sending his attack dogs after him, nearly killing him and infecting his dog, Sam. Driving Neville to go on a suicidal rampage, he comes close to finishing him off again, fleeing when confronted by other survivors. The next night, he tracks Neville's scent down and leads a horde of infected in an assault on his house, tearing down his defenses, cornering him and the other survivors in the basement until Neville returns his mate, ultimately letting the survivors live despite his disgust with Neville for killing so many of his kind.
  • Ichi the Killer (2001 film): The mysterious "Old Man" is a vigilante ex-cop set on destroying the vile Yakuza. Using the inhumanly strong yet psychotic Ichi, the Old Man sets about using him and a crew of criminals to eliminate and dispose of the body of Boss Anjō. Manipulating the monstrous Masao Kakihara into isolating himself from the Yakuza syndicate, the Old Man systematically eliminates both the Anjō gangsters and his own criminal subordinates, with fate taking years to finally catch up to him.
  • The Illusionist (2006): Eduard Abramovich grew up a peasant boy enthralled with magic and in love with the Duchess Sophie von Teschen until they were forced apart due to their class differences. Becoming the magician "Eisenheim the Illusionist", he meets Sophie again as an adult, and learns she is betrothed to the abusive Crown Prince Leopold. Enacting a scheme to fake her death and have her escape to the countryside, Eisenheim begins planting evidence implicating Leopold for murder while swiftly outplaying the police, eventually leaving Leopold unable to prove his innocence and killing himself to avoid shame, Eisenheim makes off to live happily with Sophie.
  • I Love You Phillip Morris: Steven Jay Russell was a closeted homosexual who lived a lie for most of his life until a near-fatal car crash causes him to decide to live openly as a gay man. Leaving his wife and moving to Florida, Steven becomes a Con Man to pay for his extravagant new lifestyle until the law catches up with him and he's sent to prison. While inside, he's able to navigate the system quite well and meets a shy inmate named Phillip Morris, who he immediately falls in love with. Following his release, Steven poses as a lawyer and manages to get Phillip out early. After earning more money by lying his way through a trial, Steven is able to land a job as a CFO of a large medical management company by posing as his own references and faking his resume. After getting caught for embezzling huge amounts of money from his company and being sent to prison once more, Steven stages several clever and successful escapes in order to reunite with Phillip. This eventually leads to his greatest trick when he manages to fake his own death from AIDs over several months, solidifying himself as a genius planner and manipulator.
  • The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus: Mr. Nick, the Devil himself, is Parnassus' charming and affable nemesis. Hundreds of years prior, Nick made a deal with Parnassus, stating that in exchange for immortality, any child of the latter would belong to Nick when they turned 16. Three days before Parnassus' daughter Valentina turns 16, Nick appears to make a new deal stating that Parnassus can keep his daughter if he can use his Imaginarium to win over five souls before Nick can. When Parnassus successfully wins over four souls, Nick claims the souls of four Russian Gangsters who enter Parnassus' Imaginarium and traps them. After Valentina offers herself up as the fifth soul, Nick makes yet another deal with Parnassus: Valentina's Soul in exchange for the wicked Tony Shepard's, partially out of disappointment with an easy victory and partially out of disgust towards Tony being an organ-harvesting child trafficker. Nick keeps his word after Parnassus tricks Tony into hanging himself, freeing Valentina's soul, though keeping Parnassus in the dark regarding her location.
  • In Bruges: Ken Daley is an art-loving older hitman working for his best friend Harry Waters. Ordered to kill the younger assassin Ray after the latter accidentally kills a child, Ken finds himself bonding with Ray. Determining to save Ray after finding out he's suicidal, Ken sets up Ray's escape by train and chooses to face Harry himself. When Ray is sent back to Bruges by Belgian authorities, Ken gives his own life to distract Harry, giving Ray a fighting chance and ultimately renewing his will to live.
  • Inception:
    • Dominic "Dom" Cobb is the world's best "Extractor", who is hired by Saito to do the near-impossible job of performing an inception, the act of implanting an idea instead of stealing one within the mind, in exchange for being exonerated for the death of his wife, Mal, that he was framed for. Assembling the best team for the job, Cobb is able to cleverly guide his group through the various and unexpected obstacles that appear within the target's dreams. After managing to convince their target, Robert Fischer, that he's a projection of his mind along with his crew and getting him to join and aid the group in pulling off the job, Cobb is forced to go into limbo and confront "Mal", overcoming and ending her influence on his psyche before going on to save Saito from the limbo after the inception has been properly inserted, ending the story free to see his children again and able to move on from his wife's tragic death.
    • Arthur is Dominic Cobb’s best friend and partner in his extraction business. When Dom is convinced to perform an inception on Robert Fischer, Arthur agrees to help despite his worries, performing research on Fischer to help with the job and training the team’s dream architect Ariadne. Arthur aids the group in deceiving Fischer in the first layer and is able to evade the militarized projections when they attack the team. Becoming the dreamer of the second layer, Arthur defends the rest of the team when they go into the third layer, using his control of the dream and his own fighting prowess to fight off projections. When the layer is left without gravity, Arthur is able to quickly devise a way to give them the kick and wake them up.
    • Saito is a brilliant businessman who arranges a test for Dom Cobb under the guise of a meeting between himself and Cobb, who has been sent to "extract" information from him by Cobol Engineering. Managing to outwit him, Saito manipulates Cobb into working for him by promising to clear his criminal charges in exchange for performing an "inception", the implanting of an idea into someone's mind, on the heir of a rival company. Saving Cobb from the failure intolerant Cobol agents, Saito assists in the inception to ensure it succeeds, and even upholds his end of the bargain to Cobb by clearing his charges once the inception is successful.
    • Eames is a smooth forger and gambler recruited by Dom Cobb to enter the mind of Robert Fischer Jr to sway him away from taking over his father's company. A master at playing people, Eames disguises himself as Fischer's godfather and uses the disguise to slowly sway Fischer against his godfather in order for Fischer to take his own path away from his father. Eames is also a master tactician and helps orchestrate the defeat of Fischer's militarized subconscious sent to stop them. Eames is able to distract and eventually annihilate them, which buys enough time for Cobb and Ardiane to be able to successfully infiltrate Fischer's mind and succeed with their plan.
  • Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: Garth is the leader of a gang of treasure hunters who pursues the young Indiana Jones when the boy steals the Cross of Coronado. Unlike his men, Garth never tries to harm young Indiana, even rescuing him from getting eaten by a lion. While unable to prevent Indiana's escape, Garth instead gets the sheriff on his side who forces Indiana to hand the relic over. Garth then consoles his rival over his loss and even gives the boy his fedora, which would become Indiana's iconic hat.
  • The Inquest of Pilot Pirx: Tom Nowak is one of the two Ridiculously Human Robots provided for an experimental flight that would determine if mass production of robots is worth starting. Early in the flight, Nowak reveals his robotic nature to the flight's captain Pirx and says that he wants the latter's report to cast robots in a bad light: this way, Nowak will stay unique among humankind and will be able to achieve a lot in his life. When Calder, the second robot in the crew, sabotages the flight and nearly kills the humans aboard, Nowak stays out of the ensuing fight, but when later Pirx, framed by Calder, is brought to trial for criminal negligence, it's Nowak who proves Pirx's innocence by producing a tape from Calder's body that has recorded all of Calder's plotting. Afterwards, Nowak, now claiming to be a human neurologist who pretended to be a robot to make his knowledge of robotic psychology sound more plausible, walks away to have the brilliant career he wants without other robots to hinder him. Calm and calculating, Nowak is baffled by human emotions and morality norms and believes science and technology would eventually outlast it all. Even though he thinks his developers could have done a better job, he is grateful to them, since robotic existence is better than no existence at all (which, however, doesn't stop him from letting his developers go bankrupt by proving Calder's guilt).
  • Inspector Clouseau (1968): Clyde Hargreaves uses his position as the son of a prison warden to form a gang of master criminals who know him by the codename Johnny Rainbow. When his lieutenants are arrested in the aftermath of a train robbery, Clyde easily breaks them out of prison one at a time. Clyde's master plan is to have his men all disguise themselves as Inspector Clouseau and rob the thirteen biggest banks in Switzerland simultaneously. They do so by tricking the bank managers into thinking that they're turning the money over to Clouseau as part of a plan to trap the thieves. Clyde smuggles the money—hidden in chocolate wrappers—across the border on an inconspicuous slow-moving barge while the police focus on watching the airports. Even when Clouseau foils their getaway, Clyde and his men still escape with some of the money.
  • In the Line of Fire: Mitch Leary is a professional assassin and ex-CIA asset who has resolved to assassinate the President of the United States. Leary is a Master of Disguise who can blend into any crowd and technically knowledgeable and proficient enough to sabotage any attempt by the Secret Service to trace his phone calls, and to construct a plastic handgun he can smuggle through a metal detector and assemble out of different parts hidden on his person. Leary gains an obsession with Secret Service Agent Frank Horrigan because of his ties to the Kennedy assassination, whose death Horrigan failed to prevent when he was a part of his service detail in Dallas. Leary frequently calls Horrigan to reminisce about his personal philosophies and the "game" between them, gives Frank clues on how to stop him, and even saves his life on one occasion. After killing numerous people who got in his way, Leary ultimately comes perilously close to killing the President before Horrigan's timely intervention, congratulating Frank on his victory afterwards.
  • In the Shadow of the Moon: Rya is an elusive time-traveler from the year 2024 aiming to kill those within the "Real American Movement" to prevent a devastating civil war that they would start in her time. Rya traveled into the past every nine years where she would inject her victims with an isotope and then activate it: allowing her to eliminate all her targets simultaneously while always escaping the police constantly pursuing her. Rya gained support for her actions first by Dr. Rao, who creates the isotope for her to use, and then from Officer Thomas "Lock" Lockhart, who allows her to complete her killing spree after she reveals to Lockhart that she is his granddaughter. Even when learning of her death in 1988, Rya remains undaunted, still committed to accomplishing her goals, and succeeds in preventing the war through her unscrupulous means.
  • Inglourious Basterds:
    • Aldo "The Apache" Raines is the head of the Basterds. A ruthless, charismatic soldier who intends on tearing down the Nazis, Aldo leads his men behind enemy lines, performing daring raids to kill German soldiers while spreading fear throughout the Nazi ranks, including Adolf Hitler himself. Aldo formulates Operation Kino to eliminate the entire Nazi high command, and when he bargains with Hans Landa to let the operation continue, Aldo promptly denies Landa the satisfaction of victory by carving a Swastika into his forehead, reasoning he's "been chewed out before" while retaining his sense of charm and composure to the end.
    • Shoshanna Dreyfuss is a Jewish girl who loses her family to the Nazis. When approached on using her theater in Paris as the site of a premiere for Joseph Goebbels' major new film, Shoshanna and her lover Marcel opt to lock the Nazis inside the theater and burn it down. Shoshanna proceeds to enact her plan near flawlessly, recording a message to all the Nazi leaders to see on screen that their fates are her vengeance and the vengeance of the Jewish people, ending up with the complete elimination of the Nazi leaders assured even before the Basterds get involved.
  • Inkheart: The gleefully evil Capricorn is a bandit leader accidentally summoned from Inkheart alongside his henchman Basta and the heroic Dustfinger by the Silvertounge Mortimer "Mo" Folchart who quickly grew to love the real world and desired to conquer it. Forcing the Silvertounge Darrius to read his army out of Inkheart, Capricorn took over a castle but desired to capture Mo as Darrius’ stutter made anything he summoned imperfect. When Mo finds a copy of Inkheart but refuses to send Dustfinger back into it, Capricorn uses Dustfinger to track down and capture Mo and his family. Capricorn then destroys the copy of Inkheart to prevent anyone from sending him back, mocking Dustfinger for trusting him given his deceitfulness. After learning that Mo’s daughter Meggie is also a Silvertounge, Capricorn kidnaps her and reveals that he saved a single copy of Inkheart and intends to summon forth the monstrous Shadow from it so he can use it to conquer the world. Threatening Meggie's mother to make her summon the Shadow, Capricorn comes dangerously close to succeeding in his plan.
  • Inside Man: Dalton Russel is a bank robber who meticulously plans out a heist in a certain bank, taking hostages and dressing them all the same as himself and his team so the police cannot act against them, before releasing them all. Secretly building a wall in the bank vault, Dalton hides there for days while having only robbed the bank owner's safe deposit vault, leaving clues to expose him as a war criminal who collaborated with the Nazis. Once the time is up, Dalton walks out of the bank completely free and clear, even leaving police negotiator Keith a diamond to propose to his girlfriend with. Freely acknowledging he did everything for the money, Dalton still admits there'd be no point to getting rich if he couldn't look at himself in the mirror.
  • Inspector Gadget 2: Dr. Claw is a hammy, mysterious supervillain who schemes to rob Riverton's Federal Reserve with style and flourish. Escaping prison following his capture in the first film, Claw has reinvented himself to be a cool, threatening presence, devising a plan to create his "time displacement laser" and freeze all of Riverton in time. Claw disguises himself and his gang as a band to stealthily steal a priceless ruby and hacks Inspector Gadget's robotics to throw a science convention into chaos while he steals a protoid laser, gathering all the parts needed for his superweapon. Successfully freezing Riverton and its citizens, Claw robs the Federal Reserve before taking Gadget's niece Penny as a hostage, using threats to her life and weapons built into his escape vehicle to fight off Gadget. Even when Gadget has him dead-to-rights, Claw uses a backup emergency rocket to flee justice, promising that he'll be back to defeat Gadget next time.
  • Interview with a Hitman (2012): Bethesda, the lover of Viktor, is in truth the daughter of Viktor's first victim. Sold into sex slavery with her sister, who did not survive, Bethesda grows up, finds and seduces Viktor, while playing him against the mob for her revenge. Tricking Viktor into setting up an interview with her former abuser, a disgraced film director, Bethesda has the man killed, and then promptly shoots Viktor when his guard down. Pregnant, Bethesda reveals the purpose for her plan: to one day show their son the interview so he will forever despise the man his father was, her revenge going off utterly perfectly.
  • Into the Woods: The Witch catches the Baker's father stealing her greens years before the Baker himself is born and demands to him that as payment for doing so that she let him take his newborn daughter Rapunzel to raise as her own. While treating Rapunzel well, the Witch is so overprotective to the point that she locks her in a tower and temporarily blinds Rapunzel's prince on one of the occasions he comes to see her. Years after taking Rapunzel, needing to break the curse her own mother set on her, the Witch goes to the Baker and his wife revealing she placed an infertility spell on them and that they will only be able to reverse it if they retrieve the necessary items to help her reverse her own, while noticing when the white cow they get is disguised with flour rather than being the right color. This ultimately is successful for all parties and things are well, until the Witch insists that Jack be sacrificed to the Giant's wife when she wants vengeance for her husband's death.
  • I, Robot: The Virtual Interactive Kinetic Intelligence (VIKI) is Dr. Alfred Lanning's first AI creation, whom pondered the "Three Laws" with which she was built, and evolved to conclude she must take any length necessary to ensure the survival of the human race. To keep them safe from conflict, VIKI traps Lanning under her watch and begins plotting to use a new model of robots to overtake the world. Only encountering a snare in her plan when Lanning is forced to suicide to begin subverting her, VIKI swiftly eliminates any robots or humans that oppose her. Implicating a powerful CEO to divert attention and planning for multiple outcomes, VIKI is only defeated just before her goal comes to fruition.
  • The Island (2005): Albert Laurent is a very intelligent and skilled mercenary hired by the revolting Dr. Bernard Merrick to retrieve escaped clones Lincoln Six-Echo and Jordan Two-Delta. Suspecting and realizing Merrick uses the clones to harvest organs, Laurent only takes the job for both the pay and being a Consummate Professional. Tracking Lincoln and Jordan through tech implanted on Lincoln and then to LA through use of a credit card, Laurent and his people ambush a police convoy when the two are arrested and during an extended chase, death and destruction is chaotically caused. Killing sponsor Tom Lincoln thinking he's Lincoln, Laurent also recaptures Jordan so that her dying sponsor Sarah Jordan can be saved—only for Merrick to say she can't be saved and plan to harvest Jordan anyway. Having as a child suffered the same treatment the clones are enduring, Laurent defies Merrick by helping Lincoln and Jordan to set all the clones free and make sure Merrick's business is finally brought down in the end.
  • The Italian Job:

      • Charlie Croker is recruited by Roger Beckermann to rob an Italian gold convoy and is trusted by Beckermann to continue and execute the plan without his partner once Beckermann realizes his life is in danger. Charlie plunges forward without hesitation, and breaks into prison to present his proposal to a mob boss he needs funding from. He is Nice to the Waiter, gets along well with his subordinates. and while he does cheat on his girlfriend, he also trusts her and does what he can to keep her out of harm's way. He remains unflinching when faced with sharing Beckermann's fate and is able to threaten his would-be executioner into sparing his life. Charlie leads his men in overpowering the convoy guards with just some clubs and a fire hose. He and his men then escape with the gold in mini coopers and are quite resourceful at finding ways to outwit individual police officers who pursue them across Beckermann's escape route. When a bus containing Charlie, his accomplices, and the gold ends up dangling over the edge of a cliff, Charlie claims to have an idea to save himself, his crew, and the gold.
      • Mr. Bridger is the incarcerated leader of a vast criminal empire. Guards and prisoners alike cater to Bridger's every whim and let him do as he pleases. He has a strong sense of national pride, idolizing Elizabeth II and showing concern about the effect crime is having on the economy. When Charlie breaks into one of the prison's bathroom to talk to Bridger, he is upset about his privacy being invaded and lectures the timid warden about the prison's security issue. He has Charlie beat up for disrespecting him, but also agrees to finance the eponymous heist (while making some useful suggestions to augment the existing plan). He recognizes that The Mafia are aware of Charlie's plans and warns him about this, while threatening Charlie is the job fails. Upon hearing that Charlie and his gang have gotten away with the gold, Bridger triumphantly marches down a flight of stairs to enjoy a delicious meal as all his fellow prisoners chant his name.
      • Roger Beckermann is a well-regarded European criminal who schemes to steal four million dollars in gold. Beckermann plots to shut down all the traffic in the city of Turin in order to carry out the robbery, and then plans an intricate getaway route for his drivers. When Beckermann realizes that The Mafia are planning to kill him to prevent the robbery, rather than call off the job to save his own life, he makes a film detailing his plan (and various other heists he's never gotten around to) and arranges for his wife to give it to Croker so that the gold heist (the scale of which is unprecedented at that point in history) can go forward and serve as his legacy. He then continues about his business, showing no signs of fear or concern, until he is murdered by the mobsters (who show some Villain Respect toward him). Although he dies in the opening scene, the plot of the movie rests upon Beckermann's plan and his fearless efforts to ensure that it will survive him in the event of his murder.
      • Altabani is a mafia leader who serves as the Big Bad of the movie. He is a criminal equivalent of a Frontline General, personally handling plenty of grunt work and surveillance. He wants to keep any foreign criminals from robbing his government out of territorial pride, and perhaps patriotism. Altabani and his men ambush and kill Beckermann on a mountain road and drop a wreath after the wreckage of his car. When Charlie continues Beckermann's plan, Altabani accosts Charlie and several associates, making pleasant small talk as he has a construction vehicle destroy their cars. He is then poised to kill them to guarantee that the plan will die, and only relents to spare Britain's Italian community from retaliatory violence. He never underestimates his opponents throughout the movie and unsuccessfully tries to prevent the approaching heist through other means. When Charlie pulls off the heist, Altabani doesn't succumb to frustration or despair, but merely continues trying to track down to take the gold from them through force or negotiation. He even succeeds at his goal in the original script and the Novelization.
    • 2003 remake: Charlie Croker is a master thief in the heist team of career thief John Bridger and has "been a thief since [he's] had baby teeth". He plans the titular job in Venice perfectly, with each member of the team's skills utilized to successfully steal gold bricks valued at $35 million. When Steve Frazelli betrays and murders John, nearly kills the rest of the team and steals all the gold for himself, Charlie hatches a scheme to steal the gold back and avenge John. Charlie once again orchestrates another heist in LA while getting John's daughter Stella to step in as safe cracker and gasses the guards Steve hired to protect the safe. After a miraculous escape through the city streets, Charlie reveals he made a deal with Ukrainian mobster Mashkov to dispose of Steve once and for all.
  • Ivan Vasilievich Changes Profession: George Miloslavsky is a clever and suave Gentleman Thief who intends to rob wealthy dentist Anton Shpak. During his successful break into Shpak's house, Miloslavsky is accidentally sent to the past by Alexander Timofeyev's time machine, together with Ivan Bunsha. Ending up in the unfamiliar world of Tsarist Russia, Miloslavsky shows that he can act collected and resourceful in extraordinary situations, forcing Bunsha to impersonate the missing Tsar Ivan the Terrible while himself pretending to be a minor noble. Acting as the false Tsar's chief advisor, Miloslavsky takes the initiative in state affairs, keeping Ivan IV's servants in the dark. Despite his affinity for crime, Miloslavsky demonstrates his patriotic feelings when he berates Bunsha for frivolously agreeing with the Swedish king's demands for Russian territory and convinces the Swedish ambassador to postpone the negotiations, while stealing his decorated medallion unnoticed. An adventurer by vocation, Miloslavsky stands out as the most charming and proactive member of the cast.
