Goddess of Victory: NIKKE Characters
Main Factions: Elysion | Missilis Industry | Tetra Line | The Pilgrims | Abnormal

"A pioneer in the high-tech industry. They actively implement cutting edge technology into Nikke armaments."

Compared to other Nikkes, Missilis’s are the most technologically advanced. As such, most Nikkes here are often involved in scientific research.

    open/close all folders

    Missilis Industry in General
  • Flawed Prototype: Crosses over with Psycho Prototype. Missilis holds the record for the most psychologically twisted Nikkes put out by the major manufacturers, either due to who they once were, or a caveat in their Nikke form that makes them struggle to work in Ark society. On one hand, you have Guilty - the flawed - a girl locked up for her inability to control her superhuman strength she was built with and became jaded because of it. On the other hand, you have the psychos - Sin and her hypnotic voice that she used to force others to do her bidding, and Crow, whom Missilis created from a known Outer Rim terrorist and still wants to wreak havoc on the Ark.
  • Mad Scientist: Almost every Missilis scientist we've seen is one of these, regardless of whether they are human or Nikke. While a few do have some morals, they still tend to be fairly ethically dubious. Some of the experiments they have run or are running include purposefully infecting Nikkes with diseases to develop cures for humans, running Nikke students through life-or-death exams (and using those who fail too often as lab rats), and modifying the notebook Anne uses to remember things between mind wipes.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Though 'hero' is a stretch, it was several of Missilis' own Nikkes that end up setting off an invasion of the Ark by the Raptures, which ultimately allowed for Chatterbox and Indivilia to be revived amidst the chaos and got Rapi/Red Hood ejected from the Ark to keep the revived Heretic and her cohorts from causing further damage.
    • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: At the same time, this ejection allows Rapi to relocate Red Hood's ruined hometown, which they end up guiding the Commander to to claim as the first step in Andersen's reclamation mission.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Rather fittingly for a company run by Syuen, amongst the three companies of the Ark that supply Nikkes for the war against the Raptures, Missilis has the most moral ambiguity. The research it does into Nikkes causes no small amount of suffering for the test subjects and the Nikkes under them have thus far aside from Heretics, been the most antagonistic. To wit, both Crow and Jackal are part of Exotic which betrayed the Ark to allow Raptures to invade. Ether can be described as pragmatic at best when it comes to her experiments. Anne's condition is exploited by several researchers to extort money from her still living mother (though, for once, Syuen didn't approve that, and was torn between having them fired and having them killed when she found out), and another one of the researchers experimenting on her has no idea why anyone would object to them modifying the notebook that acts as her memory. The entire squad of Real Kindness who are all criminals to differing degrees of evil come from Missilis. Finally, Yuni aided Exotic in propagating chaos in the aforementioned Rapture invasion into the Ark. Tellingly, a lot of their more moral Nikkes are either test subjects or work for Tetra Line-affiliated squads.
  • You Are Number 6: Missilis' mass-produced Nikkes are identified by their product number; Product 08, 12, and 23 are playable generic units.

Dazzling Pearl

"A squad made up of M.M.R Vocational School Graduates. They stood out amongst the midst of fierce competition and entered the graduating class, showcasing outstanding capabilities."

    Dazzling Pearl in General
  • Expy: It's not too difficult to see similarities between them and fellow high-school duo, Asuna and Karin from Blue Archive when it comes to how they look.
  • Gyaru Girl: Their general aesthetic.
  • Theme Naming: Named after legendary mythological serpents: Naga (from the human/serpent hybrids of Asian myth) and Tia (from "Tiamat", the goddess of the seas from Babylonian lore).

    Naga
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/naga_nikke_fullbody.png
Element: Electric
Weapon: Elegant Nocturne (Shotgun)
Class: Supporter
Rarity: SSR
Voiced by: Yu Yeong (KR), Hina Suguta (JP), Brianna Knickerbocker (EN)

Tia's responsible half and fellow student at M.M.R. Vocational School. Courteous and mature beyond her years, Naga helps pick up the slack when Tia's absentmindedness gets ahead of her.

  • Broken Ace: Her Fate episodes reveal the reason she works so hard to study for her tests is because of when she was a freshman she was the only survivor of her squad, and then in another test, despite keeping everyone alive, only her and Tia passed with the others sent away due to not being sufficient enough for the school's liking.
  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: Serves as one for Tia, making sure to bring stuff she often forgets, like school supplies.
  • The Tease: If her animation when being tapped on is anything go by, she's quite the tease, lifting up her skirt with a mischievous smile on her face.

    Tia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tia_fb.png
Element: Iron
Weapon: Chase Nail (Rocket Launcher)
Class: Defender
Rarity: SSR
Voiced by: Park Yi-seo (KR), Rumi Ōkubo (JP), Brenna Larsen (EN)

A third-year student at M.M.R. Vocational School and best friends with Naga. Airheaded to a fault, Tia adores sweets (especially pictures of sweets) and has an attraction to the fantastic and strange.

  • Big Eater: If the amount of food she gets from a café in Dazzling Cupid is any indication, she likes to eat a lot.
  • Cuddle Bug: Likes to hug Naga and the Commander whenever they meet.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: She apparently has a dream to one day see a dragon and make a wish to it.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Her Bond Episodes amount to this. Tia cannot think on what to answer regarding her career aspirations, so the Commander had her try various jobs including a maid, an animal trainer, and a secretary. In the end, Tia still cannot decide and put "N/A" on her form, though Naga convinces her to change it to "Undecided".
  • Forgetful Jones: She has a tendency to forget things, often requiring assistance from her long-time friend Naga because of this.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: Tia gets a 30% Event Item rate bonus in Perfect Maid despite not appearing in the event, since she loves sweets and always goes to cafes to take pictures with them, and once worked with Maid For You briefly in her Bond Story.
  • Popping Buttons: Her lobby animation has her shirt buttons failing to contain her enormous breasts.
  • Sweet Tooth: Tia really likes desserts.

Electric Shock

"A squad dedicated to the R&D of electronic instruments. Together with M.M.R., they have invented various instruments which have made invaluable contributions to the Ark's infrastructure."

    Elegg
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elegg_nikke.png
Element: Electric
Weapon: Boomstick (Machine Gun)
Class: Supporter
Rarity: SSR
Voiced by: Kim Hyeon-ji (KR), Ayasa Itō (JP)

A gifted electrician, partially responsible for creating the converter used to power the Ark alongside her close friend and squadmate Trony. She is the biggest diehard fan of the classic FPS game BOOM in the entire Ark and dreams of installing it on every device imaginable. She is assigned to Reclamation Site 01 to assist Counters with mechanical and electrical work on the surface.

  • BFG: As if to complement her Shout-Out to Doom, her machine gun is not only a BFG, but its design is based on the the movie's rendition of the weapon.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: Shows off her marginally pudgier tummy with a crop top.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: Elegg is a little chubbier than most Nikkes. That doesn't take away the fact that, like all Nikkes, she's easy on the eyes.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Can be seen in the battle when she hides behind cover, and elsewhere when she opens her mouth with an excited expression.
  • Damsel in Distress: Chapter 28 ends with Liveryn and Elegg trapped within a large crystal cluster. Before Hammering has a chance to break them out, the cluster sinks into the ground, taking all three of them underground.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The main protagonist of the BOOM'S DAY event, where she helps her best friend Trony work through her depression to make her leave her room for a project before she's subjected to a memory wipe for insubordination.
  • Everyone Has Standards: As much as she loves indulging in her hobby of installing BOOM wherever she can, even she makes it clear she wouldn't install it onto things as important as the surface's observation device or the Dome of Eternity. Although in the finale of BOOM'S DAY she does admit that she wants to ultimately put BOOM on the Dome... which will first require ensuring humanity no longer needs the Ark.
  • Eyes Out of Sight: Her bangs completely cover her eyes, though her animation occasionally shows her left eye peeking out.
  • For Science!: Elegg gets a kick out of investigating things that she doesn't understand and will push herself however far she needs to go to ensure no mystery goes unsolved. This is her main motivation for continuing the expedition to the crystal region in Chapter 27 despite warnings from Rapi, as she is intrigued by the alien properties of the crystals and wants to figure out if they have any potential applications.
    • To a lesser extent, she also enjoys trying to install BOOM in every device she can, for no reason other than proving that it's possible aside from her love for the game.
  • Friendly Rivalry: With fellow gamer Exia, mainly regarding whether BOOM or Final Quest is the better game.
  • Gamer Chick: Elegg is a fan of the classic video game BOOM, and wants to install it on any device she can get her hands on.
  • Jiggle Physics: Even in a game where this trope is common, Elegg stands out for how blatant it is with her - you can hear her bust bouncing as she moves when you tap her sprite. Her thighs and abdomen also have a noticeble jiggle.
  • Leg Focus: Has notably long legs and thick thighs in her character art.
  • Meaningful Name: With Trony, her squadmate; "Elegg" and "Trony" together form a misspelled spin on "electronics", which are the specialty of the Electric Shock squad.
  • Only Friend: Again with Trony. Both of them have their eccentricites, but quickly warmed up to each other over their shared love of video games and functional compatability as a team.
  • Playful Cat Smile: Her default expression, highlighting her easygoing and mischievous attitude.
  • Playful Hacker: A good-natured woman and a tech whiz who'll install BOOM onto nearly anything she can get her hands on. To wit, the Booms Day event, Main Campaign, and her Bond Stories feature her installing BOOM on a coffee vending machine, a calculator, a billboard in the Train Station, another billboard on the Surface, every screen in the Observatory, the Commander's phone, Syuen's phone, Rapi's rifle, Cocoa's umbrella, Neon's glasses, and even the Power Station, the last which she accomplishes after breaking through Maxwell's three-layer security system in less than 30 minutes.
  • Shout-Out: A large one to the Doom franchise. She's a massive fan of the video game BOOM, a first-person shooter with a tiny file size and visuals similar to the cover art of Doom (2016), and her is gun clearly modeled after the series' famed BFG (although it's ironically named "Boomstick," the nickname for shotguns). She also references the game's longstanding trend of being able to run on the most unlikely of platforms and devices, as she's notorious for installing it onto nearly every electronic with a screen that she comes across.
  • Situational Sword: Elegg's Burst skill BOOM Install increases the amount of "Distributed damage" dealt by units. At the time of writing, there are only three units (Dorothy, 2B, Scarlet: Black Shadow) that can deal this kind of damage.

Exotic

"A Nikke squad composed of ruffians from the slums at the outskirts of the Ark, the Outer Rim. As a contingency plan, all members must wear a choker that will self-destruct if deemed neccessary."

    Crow
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/crow_nikke.png
Element: Fire
Weapon: Genocide (SMG)
Class: Defender
Rarity: SSR
Voiced by: Kim Yoo-rin (KR), Sora Amamiya (JP), Corey Pettit (EN)

The ruthless and enigmatic leader of Exotic. Her motives are a mystery to all, even her own squadmates, but she harbors a deep hatred for the Ark for her current situation and past life and desires to put those who wronged her in their place.

  • Ambiguous Situation: The sheer difference between Crow's appearance in the main story and in side stories and her Bond Episodes have left people scratching their heads over how the same person can behave so differently. While fanon assumes that the side events are non-canon, the most likely explanation given her Manipulative Bastard skills is that Crow is just trying to get the Commander to lower their guard.
  • Arc Villain: Once she becomes involved in the main plot and her plans are set in motion, she comfortably falls into this role several chapters in.
  • The Chessmaster: Crow plotted a long road of revenge by first gaining sufficient trust from Syuen to be dispatched to the Outer Rim to manage the area, where she immediately started regaining control of Heavenly Ascension, then had the group lay low while she waited for a chance. When Vapaus emerged, she utilized the guilt of humanity's control and mistreatment of Nikkes to spread fear and doubt in the public against Nikkes. In her plans, once Nikkes are removed as a line of defense of the Ark's humans, she can then bring humans of the Outer Rim and the citizens of the Ark into open conflict against each other, bringing all into ruin.
  • The Corrupter: Her goal is not just to throw the Ark into anarchy and recognize Nikkes as equals, but also to push people past the line.
    • She ropes Yuni into her plans, fanning her hate for Syuen to be used against the CEO.
    • She tries to coerce Diesel into killing her, but the conductor was stopped by Soline pleading her not to. Viper notes afterwards that she seems bothered.
    • She pretends to kill the Commander's team to incite him into killing her, which would have broken his rule not to kill Nikkes were it not for Rapi intervening in time.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Crow grew up in the Outer Rim and had to watch first hand how much abuse was heaped upon it by the rest of the Ark. She was then converted into a Nikke as punishment for crimes she committed, which twisted her existing rage into misanthropy.
  • Depending on the Writer: Crow is a considerably nicer and far more amicable in her Bond Story and Outpost interactions than in the Main Story, which has convinced some players that they may be non-canon. Given that she is a Manipulative Bastard and that her bond story takes place before the main story, it's likely she was just trying to get the Commander to lower his guard.
  • Eviler than Thou: Plays Syuen like a fiddle, then leaves the Missilis CEO at the mercy of Yuni. And while Syuen is a greedy CEO who makes Counters' lives hell for slighting her pride, Crow is a terrorist who would gladly wipe out the Ark for its treatment of the Outer Rim.
  • A Fate Worse Than Death: After finally being detained in the main story, Crow was sent to be a test subject at MMR, due to her unusually strong ability to defy the NIMPH in her system.
  • Foil: To Dorothy and Nihilister.
    • Nihilister and Crow both dress is red and black outfits that are very revealing and are some of the most malicious members of the playable cast. But while Crow is nominally aligned with the Ark, Nihilister is against it outright. Crow is a Close-Range Combatant who dual wields submachine guns while Nihilister uses a pair of weaposn that are classified as sniper rifles. Crow is usually dispassionate unless her blood really gets pumping while Nihilister is quite the ham. Their biggest differences, however, are there interactions with the Commander - Crow comes off as friendly in her Bond Episodes with him, but her actions in the main story gradually destroy this until she becomes the only Nikke he expresses a desire to kill. Nihilster, meanwhile, initially expresses a desire to kill the Commander but eventually finds herself liking him inspite of her goals as a Heretic and is implied to eventually join his forces.
    • Dorothy wears white and pink versus Crow wearing black and red. Both are manipulative Nikkes who put on a maks of kindness that hides a darker personality beneath, but Dorothy has a third layer beneath her darker traits that secretly desires companionship while Crow has no such depths. Dorothy's Start of Darkness was the loss of her original team (especially Pinne's death) while Crow doesn't really have any respect for her team and prefers to work alone. As with Nihilister, Dorothy initially dislikes the Commander but is slowly moved by their kindness, while Crow makes it clear that even if she likes the Commander, she will kill him to achieve her goals.
  • Foreshadowing: Her Burst Skill is called The Terrorist. Not only is she a terrorist, she is the founder of Heavenly Ascension, is behind the AZX bombings, which resulted in the creation of Infinity Rail and all of its squad members being turned into Nikkes after dying in the incident, and is still a terrorist.
  • Hate Sink: An unrepentant terrorist who even the Commander becomes absolutely disgusted by as the campaign goes along. She was the one who bombed the train the AZX squad were on, ending their human lives and killing Diesel's brother. She also nearly kills the Commander after espousing her hypocritical, self-serving ideology as a blatantly thin mask for her selfish need to inflict pain and suffering. But her worst crime by far is orchestrating the Rapture invasion of the Ark, and she uses the confusion to get dozens, maybe hundreds killed, and many more injured. She then deceives the Commander into believing she killed his squad as well, which brings him very close to breaking his one rule on her. She's finally locked up and awaiting sentencing in Chapter 24 after a lengthy and bloody pursuit.
  • Hidden Depths: She has a few Brief Encounters in the Theater, where she shows appreciation for movies and entertainment. "Novel and Reality" reveals she repeatedly watches one movie about an ideal gangster life that she compares to her darker reality as a backstabbing outlaw.
  • I Work Alone: She is a competent leader who at least has the respect of her teammates in Exotic. She had it until the events of Chapter 24, where she makes it clear she never respected any of her allies to begin with and is in it for herself, and only her.
  • Mind Rape: Ingrid informs her in no uncertain terms that this is the punishment she'll be enduring even prior to Enikk's sentencing of her in order to figure out how she's able to suppress her NIMPH so well. Crow being Crow, she shrugs it off.
  • Psychotic Smirk: Crow tends to flash it whenever her blood gets pumping.
  • Revenge: Rumored to be the former leader of Heavenly Ascension before she was turned into a Nikke, Crow has a massive bone to pick with the entirety of the Ark for how they treated people in the Outer Rim. Also, she is the one who carried out the bombing of the AZX trains, killing numerous citizens before she was captured and turned into a Nikke. After being turned, her bitterness extended to humanity as a whole after experiencing the generally mistreated life as a Nikke.
  • She Who Fights Monsters: Her freedom fighter days and the days she spent as a Nikke did not do wonders for her moral compass. It's arguable that she well crossed the line even before she became a Nikke.
  • Strike Me Down with All of Your Hatred!: Crow is willing to put her life on the altar of pushing people past the Moral Event Horizon. She tries this on Diesel by revealing that she was the one who organized the AFX terror attack that killed her younger brother, complete with an explanation on how Diesel can bypass her inhibitor's effect in order to kill her and on Commander by making it look like she killed all the Counters' Nikkes in Chapter 24. In both cases, she almost succeeds, only stopped by timely interventions of people close to her victims.
  • Tattooed Crook: Crow's extensive tattoos help make her look the part of a career criminal.
  • Throw-Away Guns: She "reloads" by throwing her guns away and pulling a new pair out.
  • Unflinching Walk: Her Burst Skill, The Terrorist, has her set off a bomb that goes off behind her.
  • Villain Has a Point: Crow's remarks about the Ark's citizens not caring about women and children being converted into Nikkes and sent to the surface to fight the Raptures are far from inaccurate, something Anis attests to when she admits to having such a mindset when she was human and consider being turned into a Nikke a form of Laser-Guided Karma.

    Jackal
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/usoye39jzgobasec.jpg
Element: Iron
Weapon: T. O. P. (Rocket Launcher)
Class: Defender
Rarity: SSR
Voiced by: Gang Eun-ae (KR), Aya Suzaki (JP), Lindsay Sheppard (EN)

The brawn of the Exotic Squad. She loyally follows Crow and Viper, but is otherwise simple-minded and cannot tell right from wrong.

  • Cute Little Fangs: Has one that's visible mostly when she's smiling.
  • Dumb Is Good: Downplayed. While by no means a saint, Jackal is easily both the least intelligent and least malevolent member of Exotic.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She makes her appearance in Crow's fifth Bond episode months before being added to the playable roster.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Wears a neon pink thigh high on her left leg, with a regular sock and spiked thigh strap on her right, and has only one side pigtail on the left side of her head.
  • I Will Wait for You: At the end of her Bond episodes when the Commander is done teaching Jackal how to behave she has to go back to the Outer Rim with Crow, Jackal doesn't want to leave him just yet and wants him to come with her, she eventually settles on waiting for him, on the stipulations that he comes by often and pets her 100 times when he does.
  • Luminescent Blush: Gains one typically she gets embarrassed or is complimented by the Commander.
  • Obliviously Evil: Most of her misdeeds are borne out of thoughtlessness rather than malice. She has difficulty understanding how crimes like property damage or theft could negatively affect others.
  • Scary Teeth: Shown primarily in her Burst animation or when she's grinning widely is that Jackal's mouth is full of sharp teeth.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Has this dynamic with Poli and Miranda. They frequently arrest her for vandalism and destruction of property, but otherwise she's not an actual threat and is always let go early due to being a member of Exotic. She actually goes out of her way to make sure nobody gets injured by her mayhem.
  • Token Good Teammate: Is this for Exotic as unlike Crow and Viper who are both knowingly malicious and antagonistic, Jackal doesn't have any negative intentions nor seems to actually want to hurt anyone, she's just impulsive and simple minded, her 4th Bond episode even shows that Jackal doesn't understand why A.C.P.U frequently arrests hernote , as when she and the Commander run into Poli while walking together, Jackal ends up needing them to explain to her that Poli isn't going to arrest her because she's not currently doing anything wrong and that A.C.P.U won't pursue her as long as she isn't causing trouble, and even then Jackal still doesn't entirely get it. She is also largely cleared of major wrongdoing by Ingrid and Mustang in Chapter 24, having caused some significant property damage but otherwise not being privvy on Exotic's bigger scheme considering they were simply using her as a pawn.
  • Womanchild: Has some shades of this. She acts recklessly and thoughtlessly, damaging property without remorse but she does not do so out of malice but because she finds it fun, and doesn't understand why she keeps getting arrested for doing so.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: After Jackal is captured by authorities in Chapter 24, Crow decides that it's not worth going back for her. Viper is visibly appalled by this choice.

Heavy Gram

"One of the T.A.V:H squads that use piloted mechs developed by Missilis Industry for Nikkes. The piloted humanoid robot and the Nikke piloting it are considered as one squad member. Although the mech has garnered some reputation for its performance and versatility, one drawback is its excessively high production cost."

    Kilo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kilo_nikke.png
T.A.L.O.S.
Kilo
Element: Fire
Weapon: Anchoret (Machine Gun)
Class: Defender
Rarity: SSR
Voiced by: Kim Ha-young (KR), Megumi Han (JP), Tara Sands (EN)

  • Awesome, but Impractical: T.A.L.O.S. is a capable and self-sufficient mech suit complete with self-repair systems, but that self-sufficiency also makes it too expensive to be a mass-production model.
  • Can't Hold His Liquor: In Lost Kingdom, Chime observes that Kilo has gotten drunk rather quickly despite imbibing relatively little alcohol.
  • Cranial Eruption: During her animation, she exits T.A.L.O.S. too quickly after opening its lid and bumps her head, causing this before the lid closes again.
  • Fun with Acronyms: T.A.L.O.S., standing for "Tactical Assistance and Logistics Optimization System" is actually a name given to it by Kilo, its actual designation is T.A.V:H, standing for "Tactical Autonomous Vehicle: Human Type".
  • Jack of All Trades: In order to find one area of expertise where she excels at, Kilo added several different functions to T.A.L.O.S., including combat, search & rescue, repair, production, communication, medical, and more, wanting to be useful in any situation that crops up. The medical systems come in handy when she needs to help reattach Chime's head after the poor girl got decapitated by the Heretics sieging the Crown Kingdom.
  • Interface Screw: T.A.L.O.S.' sheer size covers up a significant part of the screen during gameplay.
  • Matter Replicator: T.A.L.O.S. contains an on-board 3D printer that can be used to construct a variety of useful objects, such as ammunition, allowing Kilo to stay on the surface for an extended period of time without needing to return to the Ark to resupply. This winds up coming in handy while staying with the White Knights, as Kilo is able to quickly reproduce missing parts or material that would otherwise be difficult to scavenge for.
  • Meaningful Name: Kilo's robot, T.A.L.O.S., shares its name with Talos, a giant bronze automaton in Greek mythology that was tasked with protecting the island of Crete from pirates and invaders. The nanomachines T.A.L.O.S. possesses are an analog of the divine blood (Ichor) that powered the original bronze giant.
  • Mini-Mecha: Kilo herself is a petite-looking girl, piloting a robot named T.A.L.O.S. during combat by riding inside the cockpit located in the torso.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After several Rapture attacks on Crown's castle (which is equipped with jamming devices designed to repel them), Kilo realizes she is responsible for the attacks because she didn't revoke her command to T.A.L.O.S. to contact the Ark and inform them that they have found the Heretic Modernia.
  • Nanomachines: T.A.L.O.S. has a defensive barrier system that relies on a coating of powered nanomachines to mitigate damage.
  • Only Sane Man: In Last Kingdom, her first reaction to meeting Chime and Crown is to believe that she's stumbled into a crazy cult run by wackjobs. Marian isn't helping either, considering all the... "eccentricities" she picked up from the Pioneers.
  • Super Prototype: The T.A.L.O.S. has a lot of subsystems that enable it to be self-sufficient, and Kilo's expertise with the mech makes it extremely effective and a practical choice for field work when she pilots it. It's still in development and has some kinks to work out, but that doesn't stop it from being great at doing field work.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Outside of T.A.L.O.S., Kilo is pretty short, on the same height scale as the likes of Liter, Biscuit, and Poli.
  • Weak, but Skilled: While staying at Crown's kingdom, a drunk Kilo admits that she is extremely weak and is virtually incapable of combat, having specs worse than a mass-produced Nikke. However, she is the only one capable of piloting the formidable T.A.L.O.S., a skill that Crown insists is a valuable asset even if Kilo herself cannot do much on her own.

Master Hand

"The Central Government's ceremonial guard. They are musicians who preserve the musical legacy of the surface."

    Julia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/n24.jpg
Mild Nocturne
Element: Iron
Weapon: Classical Adagio (Assault Rifle)
Class: Attacker
Voiced by: Park Ri-na (KR), Ayane Sakura (JP), Corey Pettit (EN)

  • Instrument of Murder: Her violin. Doubles as an assault rifle!
  • Parental Substitute: Despite being a Missilis-developed Nikke, Julia was taken in and cared for by Mustang after being disowned by Syuen for being "useless" thanks to her talent for music.

Matis

"An elite squad explicitly created for battle. These Nikkes are built with the most advanced tech in Missilis and are referred to as heroes by the public."

    Matis in General
  • Dumb Muscle: Disregarding Maxwell, Laplace and Drake noticeably bring down the average intellectual level of the group by a fair bit compared to the group's Elysion or Tetra counterparts despite being equally as effective as them. This gets referenced in the School of Lock event where Rei complains about having to do written exams despite some truly inept Nikkes being exceptional at combat, with the Commander having mental imagery of Laplace and Drake flash through his head.
  • Named After Someone Famous: All the members are named after real life polymaths/mathematicians. Maxwell is named for James Clerk Maxwell, Drake is named after Frank Donald Drake, and Laplace is named after Pierre-Simon Laplace.

    Drake

Villain Racer
Maid For Villain
Element: Fire
Weapon: Sadistic Carnival (Shotgun)
Class: Attacker
Rarity: SSR
Voiced by: Kim Yeon-woo (KR), Sumire Uesaka (JP), Antonia Flynn (EN)

  • Desires Prison Life: During the 2023 Halloween event Poli pays her back with an hour of jail time to make up for lost villainous activies (long story) and during the 1st Anniversary event she barges into the police office because she heard some kind of prison event was being held.note  When she gets shoved into jail by Maxwell, she laughs and calls it a dream come true. As she puts it herself:
Drake: Any villain worth their salt should have a stint in the detention center, should they not?
  • Detect Evil: Drake has the ability to discern radio waves emitted by nearby disturbances and enemy Raptures by expending battery power. This removes the need for an Operator to scan the field and greatly improves Matis' effective range since they are not required to be in contact with the Ark to operate effectively.
  • Evil Laugh: Any talk (or texting) about her villainous activities is usually followed by the classic "Muahahahaha!" Subverted in that she's not actually evil, but it's the thought that counts.
  • Friend to All Children: Her being good with kids is just one of many ways that she's nicer than she'll admit to herself.
  • Freaky Fashion, Mild Mind: She looks the part of a villain - white hair, red eyes, black-and-red clothes, a fierce-looking Cool Mask - but she's too nice to be any sort of actual villain.
  • Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: She aspires to be feared as a mighty villain, but her Affection Stories show that Drake's either far too nice to do anything genuinely villainous, typically resorting to Poke the Poodle antics, or that her efforts tend to backfire and have her be seen as a heroic or kind person instead.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Compared to Laplace, who posits herself a hero but tends to be a Jerkass, Drake posits herself a villain but is actually the nicest member of the trio, to the point that she barely qualifies as this trope due to not really being much of a jerk.
  • Meido: In Perfect Maid, Drake gets a custom-fit French maid outfit straight from Missilis to help out the maid cafe (while Privaty has to make do with a hand-me-down). Cocoa (and possibly the Commander) remarks that it's very cool.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: There's a sharp contrast between how evil Drake wants to be and how villainous she actually is, which is not very.
  • Nonchalant Dodge: At the start of Perfect Maid, Drake drops in on a confrontation between Privaty and some Heavenly Ascension members. The male terrorist, who is having a bit of a moment, gets spooked by Drake's sudden appearance and haphazardly shoots several bullets in her direction, which Drake effortlessly sidesteps.
  • Poke the Poodle: About as far as her villainy goes, like buying up everything in a store or going to a typically quiet street to make noise. Even then, those either tend to backfire on her, with her yelling deterring a lot of potential criminals in fear of her presence, or Drake herself undoes them with a kind act later on, like donating all of the ingredients she bought to a struggling restaurant to allow it to better its business.

Element: Iron
Weapon: Hero Syndrome (Rocket Launcher)
Class: Attacker

A bombastic Nikke with aspirations of becoming a great hero. She is the leader of Matis, an elite squadron of Nikkes under Syuen's command.
  • The Alleged Boss: Despite being billed as the leader of Matis, it's evident to anybody who hangs around the squad for more than five minutes into a mission that Maxwell is the one actually keeping everybody in check.
  • Book Ends: Her first and last Affection Episode titles are "Laplace the Hero"note . It reflects her regaining the use of her arms, proving her resolution to be a hero by preventing the arsonist's suicide to the point of burning her own arm, and learning that heroes don't always have to do all the work.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Laplace spouts off about heroism and duty almost every other sentence, but she's still The Leader of Missilis' strongest Nikke team and VERY committed to protecting innocent lives and fighting the Rapture.
  • Character Focus: Chapter 18 revolves heavily around Laplace specifically, as she finds herself struggling with severe PTSD and must come to terms with the negative consequences of not having NIMPH to erase the trauma.
  • Condescending Compassion: Displays this a couple of times in her Bond Story, insisting that humans need a hero like her to look after them because they're too weak and helpless to look after themselves. Fortunately, she revises her opinion after some encounters with Heroic Bystander citizens.
  • The Corruption: She and the rest of Matis are infected during the mission to recover Heretic fragments, thanks to a tentacle trap that injects corruption code into them. Thankfully, not only did Extrinsic show up to disarm her, but before and after that, Absolute and Counters' suppression rounds allow them to disable Laplace and her teammates for transport back to Ark rather than terminate them.
  • Disappointed in You: Says as much to Counters in her first Bond Story, shaming them for not doing more to help people stuck in an apartment fire and deciding to teach them how to be 'proper' heroes.
  • For Great Justice: Laplace is motivated by a desire to be a just and honest hero and tries her best to act the part.
  • The Hero: Sees herself as one on a grand adventure, given that she talks about the 'justice and honour' of a hero a lot. All of her actions are prefaced with "Hero(ic) X" and she's even named her weapon "Hero Syndrome". That said, she's legitimately committed to protecting innocents.
  • Heroic BSoD:
    • Laplace doesn't take it well when she starts freezing up and panicking at the sight of the Raptures during Matis' comeback mission in Chapter 18, failing to manifest her armour and equipment and putting the mission in danger, slipping into a funk afterwards and believing that she's not a real hero because she's scared and helpless without NIMPH to help her.
    • After an attempt at saving a baby results in a Nice Job Breaking It, Hero moment, Laplace literally loses control of her arms due to sheer stress. She only regains control once she regains the mental fortitude to believe in her heroism.
  • Heroic Suicide:
    • Attempts to blow her own head off when she starts losing the fight against The Corruption in Chapter 12. Thankfully, Extrinsic show up to stop and stun her at the last second.
    • The Commander later brings this up to a mid-Heroic BSoD Laplace in Chapter 18, pointing out that NIMPH stops functioning as a Nikke is corroded and yet Laplace still had the courage to try and kill herself to protect others, pointing out that she's brave even without the NIMPH to regulate her feelings.
  • Instant Armor: She conjures up a Cool Mask and some extra bits of armour seemingly from nothing in battle.
  • Interface Spoiler: She was initially nonplayable, unlike her squadmates. So when she opts to perform a Heroic Sacrifice by shooting herself in the head after being corrupted, astute players will probably be able to figure out what happens next. And then it gets subverted when Extrinsic arrives and stops her in time.
    • Laplace is finally added to the playable roster with an update later on, but by then most players had probably already cleared the relevant chapter and got to see the subversion.
  • It's All About Me: For all that she's worth, Laplace also suffers from having a massive superiority complex and won't hesitate to look down on anyone she feels is not fit for "hero material", to the point where she can sometimes come off as a self-centered Jerkass not wholly unlike her boss.
  • Large and in Charge: Inverted; Laplace is dwarfed by her teammates.
  • Lawful Stupid: Laplace leans on this at times, mainly because she's so fervent about her ideas of being a hero that being rational eludes her. She gets into a spat with a mass-produced Nikke after she tells the latter off for abandoning the mission despite the fact that attempting to keep going would have almost certainly gotten her killed.
  • The Leader: Of Matis.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: Despite having little to no physical bulk, she is able to perform superhuman feats of strength such as effortlessly lifting weights with one arm and chucking them out a window. At one point Laplace texts the Commander to call Mighty Tools for assistance with her right hand, while holding up a falling building with her left hand. Her lack of muscles is also addressed in one Outpost event, where she discovers that she is literally unable to gain muscle because Nikkes past 9th-Generation models cannot develop their bodies.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero:
    • Chapter 11 has her causing Matis, the Commander and Rapi to get separated from the rest of Counters and Absolute when she shoots down a Rapture right over the bridge they'd just crossed over, causing it to crash into and destroy the bridge, stranding the latter two teams on the far side while the others are forced to continue to the heretic fragments alone. The 'job' part of this trope is more literal than most cases, as a later communication with Shifty, Syuen and Ingrid has Syuen revealing that she ordered Laplace to do as she did to ensure that Matis can secure the Heretic fragments for themselves.
    • During her Attraction Story, Laplace attempts to stop a fire from spreading by destroying some nearby houses. This results in her accidentally sparking a gas leak and causing an explosion, inflicting massive structural damage to the nearby area and putting a civilian in a coma.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: She's the leader of Matis, itself ranking as a top team amongst Nikkes. She proves as much when Counters and Matis were about to go down from Raptures continuously swarming them in Chapter 18. Once she finds her courage to overcome her trauma, she summons her cannon and sweeps the entire area of Raptures in one shot.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: Shows signs of this in Chapter 18 on Matis' comeback mission, frequently complaining about stomach pains from nerves and then outright panicking and freezing up when the 'barrier station' starts falling apart, flashing back to her and Matis getting stabbed and infected by the tentacle trap in Chapter 12. As Maxwell explains, without the NIMPH to help regulate their brains' responses, they're now going to have to wrestle with their fears personally.
  • Stay in the Kitchen: Laplace has rather narrow views on how a working relationship between a Commander and their Nikke should be, coming off heavily as this. To her, humans exist to be protected and Nikkes exist to protect humans. She has no qualms insulting Rapi and the Commander for having a mutually beneficial partnership.
  • There Was a Door: Laplace has a tendency to charge through walls and/or jump through windows if she thinks the situation is dire enough to not afford any delay.
  • Training from Hell: Attempts to put Team Counters through this in her second Bond Story so that they can do better at being heroes next time there's an emergency. Her "nice and easy" training for beginners alone involves dodging 10 bullets at once.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Her rocket launcher leans more towards a beam cannon than anything that shoots a kinetic projectile. Her Burst Skill goes whole hog and changes her firing output to a massive, concentrated golden beam for five seconds that sweeps around the arena as long as the player continues firing, deals piercing damage, literally pierces through enemies, and melts everything in its path with extremely rapid multi-hitting attacks.

  • Foil: To fellow Mad Scientist Ether. Both consider Nikkes just tools to be used and experimented on, but while Ether has long since crossed some fine lines in her unethical and horrid research, Maxwell possesses a more neutrally curious disposition towards her scientific endeavors. She still crosses some questionable boundaries, but she'd never commit anything outright morally dubious. One of the best examples of the difference between the two is from Maxwell's last Affection Episode and Ether's final scene in School of Lock, both of which have them hide something from Missilis to keep someone safe. However, where Maxwell lies about her findings to keep the Commander safe due to not wanting him to be turned into a lab rat, Ether only covers for Marciana because she's curious about how far Marciana will go to save her students, the students Ether is partially responsible for endangering. She shows no remorse over all the terrible things she's done at the school or desire to oppose the project.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: It's quite evident she's the real leader of Matis whether or not she or Laplace will admit it, since the latter is too absorbed in acting out the part of a hero of justice to apply much effective leadership.
  • Just a Machine: Believes all Nikkes, herself included, are expendable tools first and foremost.
  • Mad Scientist: Don't let her position as the Only Sane Woman of her team fool you, because she's only sane compared to her teammates. Having used to be a researcher in Missilis, she still continues running experiments, which gets explored in her Affection Episodes where she ropes the Commander into being a tester using her new exosuit, itself being a cover to research the Commander's vague effect of making Nikkes he's close to stronger. Tellingly, despite heavy modifications to their body and reminders that they are no longer human being incredibly bad for the mental health and stability of a Nikke, her legs are obviously cybernetic, and she views herself as an expendable tool and, despite still having memories from when she was human, she does not consider herself to be the same person as her human self.
  • Meaningful Name: Fittingly for a genius scientist/engineer who makes use of a railgun, her namesake is considered one of the greatest physicists ever (alongside Newton and Einsteinnote ), created the classical theory of electromagnetic radiation, and is considered the founder of the modern field of electrical engineering, to name but a few of the things he did.
  • No Help Is Coming: In High Tech Toy, she lets the Mass Produced Unit make the call to Syuen for an evacuation on Laplace's phone to learn the hard way that she won't even lift a finger to help her own elite unit, never mind a bottom-of-the-barrel soldier.
  • Only Sane Woman: Between Laplace's delusions about being a hero and Drake's delusions about becoming a villain, Maxwell is the only level-headed member of the team and serves to keep her allies on the straight and narrow—except this mostly applies when she's with her team. Outside of them, she lets her Mad Scientist tendencies overrule any rationality she might have, such as thinking to blow their way out of a trapped train in a Brief Encounter and using the Commander as a test subject in her Affection Episodes.
  • That Man Is Dead: At the end of the High Tech Toy event's hard mode, Maxwell reveals that despite having some of her memories from when she was a human, she considers the original human Maxwell to be dead and thus herself as well as other Nikkes to just be tools to be used.

  • Berserk Button:
    • Filthiness. Her first Bond episode involves chewing out the Counters, especially Anis and Neon, for being utter slobs. Her Advise episodes reveal she hates it when Anis leaves her soda cans laying around.
    • Her height. One of her lines for raising her combat power is her lamenting why she can't grow taller this way. Quiry's third bond episode shows this button pushed when she mistakes Liter for Volt and pets her head, making the shorty freeze, followed by the easygoing background music changing to one for a boss battle.
  • Big Guy, Little Guy: The Little Guy to her subordinate Centi's Big Guy.
  • Miniature Senior Citizens: Even though her Nikke body makes her younger and able to fight Raptures, she still acts like an old woman.
  • Neat Freak: Liter takes cleanliness seriously, and gets easily exasperated by living with Counters.
  • Not Afraid to Die: Due to her mental age, she often contemplates about leaving this world, hoping she had left a mark that would memorialize her and her efforts once that happens.
  • Older Than They Look: She's really old and talks like a grandma as a result. Nikkes don't age however, so her body hasn't aged at all (nor has it grown at all, much to her dismay).
  • Rapid-Fire Typing: A Blabla text reveals this is why her messages are so full of mangled typos. She types at the speed she constructs blueprints. If she slows down, she can text much clearer, but it takes longer to send.
  • Support Party Member: One of the best offensive supports in the game. She has a Burst I with a negligible cooldown that provides a large ATK buff to all party members, and her Skill 1 gives every party member Burst Skill cooldown reduction as well as an additional buff for each time her Burst Skill is activated in the same fight.

Volt

Liter's robot dog. Apparently has the ability to sense resources like gold. Is featured in the Blue Water Island event as part of a minigame.
  • Canine Companion: Is almost always seen with Liter, even in battle.
  • Dogs Are Dumb: Zigzagged and Downplayed. It can perform rather complicated tasks like scanning an area for resources as shown in Blue Water Island but in that same event, it also rather clumsily runs into Yan's fruit stand and knocks Frima off her hammock.
  • Dogs Love Being Praised: Like most dogs, Volt enjoys being given treats for work and being praised.
  • Inconsistent Dub: The game flip-flops between calling it Volt and Bolt.
  • Robot Dog: Acts much more like a dog than a robot.

  • Genius Slob: She's a skilled, if hideously unethical, scientist who barely bathes and wears tattered stockings.
  • Mad Scientist: Ether is possibly one of the most morally dubious characters in the entire roster short of Exotic. Her motto can best be described as "The end justifies the means" and she is willing to commit any level of scientific faux-paus in the name of achieving results. This gets especially screwed up in the School of Lock event where it's revealed that she and her department have essentially duped countless Nikkes into becoming Unwitting Test Subjects under the pretense of attending school.

A test subject of Recall & Release, the Ark's premiere memory research division. Typically a happy-go-lucky girl who loves croquettes and enjoys the simple things in life, but constant experimenting has left her with a sense of emptiness.
  • Affectionate Nickname: The Commander and other Nikkes refer to her as "Anne", though it is implied this may actually be her real name.
  • Amnesiac Resonance: Despite her constant mindwipes and experiments with altering her notebook, some things remain constant. She prefers mild croquettes to all other varieties, almost instantly trusts the Commander even when her notebook was altered to tell her not to, likes bookmarks, and some of her voice lines reveal that her knowledge of combat remains somewhat intact, though she is puzzled as to where that knowledge came from. It's Discussed in a Brief Encounter featuring Marciana, with Marciana teaching Anne various subjects despite knowing about her daily mind wipes, as she believes that if she teaches her something enough times, it may become part of a sort of mental muscle memory, meaning Anne will remember how to do something despite having no memory of learning how to. Marciana compares it to how people almost never forget how to ride a bike, even if they haven't ridden one in ages and may not even remember when they learned.
  • Amnesiacs are Innocent: Mixed with Children Are Innocent. She is both an amnesiac and fairly young, and is an absolute sweetheart without a mean bone in her body.
  • Animal Motif: Oddly, despite her cat ears, she has a butterfly motif, most likely as a reference to the Butterfly of Death and Rebirth, due to her constant Mind-Reformat Death and "rebirth" each day. Both versions of her are accompanied by a butterfly, butterflies appear in her Burst skills, and her Miracle Fairy version has several butterfly decorations on her outfit and fairy wings that resemble a butterfly's.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: Downplayed, as her usual taste in food is fairly normal, but for some reason she is one of the few people who actually likes Emma's cooking.
  • Cat Girl: She has cat ears, though they are rarely commented on.
  • Character Focus: N102 is one of the stars of the "Miracle Snow" Christmas Episode, where she joins Rupee and the Commander in spreading holiday cheer. Miraculously, N102 is able to retain her memories for more than a day, leading to Rupee and the Commander helping her make her Christmas wish come true.
  • Combat Medic: "Miracle Fairy" N102 has the ability to heal Supporter-type units in combat. Her Burst Skill also lets her resurrect a fallen Attacker-type unit with up to 99% HP once per battle, making her effectively a cheaper counterpart to Rapunzel.
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Downplayed, as she is usually relatively happy, but her eyes are normally a dull blue, reflecting her general emptiness caused by her daily mind wipes, with them briefly becoming lighter when she's particularly happy. Her Miracle Fairy version, however, has her brighter eyes all the time, reflecting her ability to actually keep her memories for a few days during "Eternal Memory".
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: She has blue eyes and is an absolute sweetheart, with her eyes becoming even brighter when she's happy about something.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia:
    • All of her memories are deleted every day, essentially inflicting Mind-Reformat Death but repeatedly. She keeps a notebook that reminds her of her favorite things each day, but it's revealed that the researcher who is in charge of her keeps changing its contents as part of the experiment. It is revealed in the Christmas Episode that she needs her memories wiped to stay alive due to a brain disorder that will literally cause her to die of information overload.
    • The epilogue of "Eternal Memory" ultimately gives Anne an inversion of this. Due to unknown circumstances, some of the NIMPH ended up physically fusing with Anne's brain, giving her permanent memories of her mother, Rupee, and the Commander that can't be deleted even by the daily memory wipes.
  • Missing Mom: Played with regarding Angelina. When Anne expresses her desire to reunite with her mother, the Commander and Rupee find it surprisingly easy to track her down despite warnings from both Exia and Syuen. Getting Angelina to willingly reunite with Anne, however, becomes another problem entirely.
  • My Skull Runneth Over: This is the ultimate reason behind her Laser-Guided Amnesia, and why she became a Nikke, as revealed in "Eternal Memory". Otherwise, the sheer volume and detail of her photographic memory would end up literally killing her.
  • Photographic Memory: Anne possesses a rare disorder that doctors equated to "taking 30 high-resolution images every second". It is also fatal, which lead to her mother agreeing to have her become a Nikke and perform daily memory wiping to keep Anne alive.
  • Reluctant Warrior: Considering every new mission is her first, she is understandably terrified in combat, which is reflected by her mortified expression whenever she reloads.
  • Support Party Member: N102 is notable for being a surprisingly effective offensive buffer despite her SR status, which leads many players to running her as a substitute for Liter if they don't have the latter.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Mild croquettes. The Commander insists on giving her the mild type even when her notebook says otherwise.

Real Kindness

"A squad made up of Nikkes who are held in the Rehabilitation Center, which, despite its name, is closer to a prison that houses vicious criminals. All of its members are experiments of the Missilis Industry, and each has their own unique ability. Not all of them are guilty of atrocious crimes. Some of them have been detained merely because of their presumed danger to society."

    Real Kindness in General
  • Chained by Fashion: All of them have this, fitting as Nikkes being detained in a rehabilitation center, Guilty as the biggest example of it with chains around her neck, arms and legs, and Sin as the most downplayed one, with a single chain around her legs.
  • Ironic Name: "Kindness" is not exactly a word to associate with criminals, let alone have them demonstrate, especially when two of them have committed serious crimes.
  • Reformed, but Not Tamed: The trope applies to each prisoner to differing degrees, but they ultimately don't reform or change their ways even after complete 'rehabilitation'.
    • Guilty manages to control her strength and is released for it, but Mana makes it clear that everything's on the Commander to keep her under control. It doesn't help that Guilty is emotionally dependent on the Commander, or that she still has ambiguous urges for destruction...
    • Sin kept on toying with the Commander, forcing him to make her obey by threatening her with eternal imprisonment unless she complied. She's released by the end to live at the Outpost, but whether she learnt anything is up to debate.
    • Quency is not released on account of putting the Commander at risk with the cave-in, even though it was an accident, and she's hardly going to give up on prison escapes anytime soon. Still, she comes around to liking the Commander enough to sneak out of prison and see him, making her the best case scenario come true of the trio.
  • Villainous Friendship: They all get together and care for each other fairly well, regardless of their criminal disposition. Downplayed for Guilty and Quency, since the former and later's status as villains is quite questionable, but played straight with Sin.

A powerful Nikke detained in the Rehabilitation Center. Guilty possesses immense physical strength even for a Nikke, causing her imprisonment after she inflicted severe injuries to over 40 Nikkes in two weeks.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Are her arm-breaking and sadistic tendencies truly in control after the end of her rehabilitation? One one hand, she does claim to be joking while pondering enacting violent acts on the Commander in case she ever finds it more interesting than holding his hands. On the other, she asks the Commander if he really wants the truth, and when he is left in doubt asking her about it, she simply smiles.
  • Casual Kink: In one of her advising events, she takes an interest in tying up the Commander and begs him to be allowed to do so. She can be flat-out denied that or he can propose to leave it to maybe next time—which if chosen has her, as expected, remind the Commander that he'd better not back down when he's promised her. Either way, they both end up discussing restraint methods afterwards.
  • Cuddle Bug: After she manages to trust the Commander enough to finally be able to touch them without hurting him, she makes it a habit to physically interact with him at any opportunity she gets—more than half of her advising events allow you to either hug or hold her hands at some point.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Part of why she gets attached to the Commander. Through most rehabilitations, most counselors believed Guilty was a lost case after she attacked them over a lack of trust, and an inmate even wanted to use her as a means to escape but quieted down when she wanted him to prove his belief that she was innocent by holding his hands. Having someone who genuinely trusted and her and gave her the possibility of physical contact was enough to pacify and rehabilitate her. Though the codependency brought from this and the sadistic side of hers mixing together in a behavior very similar to that of a Yandere hints at possible issues the Commander could still face in the future.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: A non-verbal variation, but during her third session with the commander, she once again claims to be unable to control her strength, yet despite a recording showing that she could easily destroy her restraints, they're still intact, which the Commander notices.
  • Mood-Swinger: Guilty has a very capricious personality, bordering on an example of Jekyll & Hyde. When she's under restraint or relaxing around the Commander, she's very soft spoken and nervous, but when she's free and on the battlefield she quickly turns violent and screams about wanting to fight the Raptures with her fists. A few of her advising events and text conversations involve the Commander trying to calm her down when she's thinking about to hurting someone else over a slight.
  • Most Common Superpower: Along with being monstrously strong, Guilty's breasts are bigger than her head.
  • Sadist: The darker side of her personality - she admits to having an interest in breaking the Commander's arms or even strangling him after her rehabilitation if she ends up finding it more "interesting" than holding his hands - while ambiguously framing it as a joke.
  • Yandere: Jussssssst a little bit. It's made clear that by the end of her rehabilitation story that she took quite a liking of touching the Commander's hands. When they question what might happen if she ends up finding something more fun than touching his hands, she speculates in breaking his hands or even strangling him so no other person could touch them.

A Nikke detained in the Rehabilitation Center. Sin possesses the ability to influence the minds of humans and other Nikkes with her voice, causing untold chaos and damage. To contain her mind control powers, she is forced to wear an inhibitor mask that suppresses her speech.
  • Cool Mask: A interesting variation - her face mask looks straight out of a cyberpunk setting with fancy pointy details and it appears to be directly connected with her headphones - but Sin actively finds the mask annoying since it limits her powers, which leads quite some (failed) attempts at convincing the Commander to take it out once she's out of jail.
  • Compelling Voice: Sin's unique power is the ability to brainwash others with her voice. The mask she wears does not fully protect other people from it as she is still capable of subtly influencing them in tandem with her excellent grasp on verbal gymnastics. The Commander clearly struggles to stay on track the longer he talks to her and even winds up being convinced to buy rather expensive shoes and meals for her.
  • Foil: Maiden. Both are beauties with long dark hair and a Compelling Voice restrained by a face mask, but the similarities pretty much end there. Sin is an unapologetic Manipulative Bastard even with her mask on, while Maiden is uninterested in stringing others along for her benefit. Sin dresses very casually while Maiden's outfit is intricately made and themed around a medieval torture device. Sin is outgoing and sanguine while Maiden is a rather dour and cynical individual. Maiden is a Stalker with a Crush, giving all of her attention to a chosen individual, while Sin wants all the others' attention to be on her. And while Maiden can remove her mask if she gets Ingrid's explicit vocal approval and is not seen to have overstepped the boundaries for usage of her power that are set for her, removal of Sin's converter is prohibited under any circumstances, since should her brainwashing power come loose, she will wreak major havoc.
  • The Gadfly: Seems to turn into one post-rehabilitation, since she can't go back to her more dastardly schemes with the Commander's close watch on her, so she settles on asking questions and saying importunate things and amuse herself, such as asking the Commander if he has any favorites amongst his Nikkes.
  • Manipulative Bastard: She puts her ability to use by manipulating people and Nikkes into doing terrible things in her behalf. Sin is such a skilled manipulator she does it without using her powers, twisting the Commander's points system to her benefit. She tones it down a bit after she's rehabilitated, not that it stops her from trying to convince the Commander to take the her mask off occasionally...
  • Never My Fault: Sin loves deflecting questions and accusations against her, specially ones accusing her of any crimes she might have done. Her excuses run gamut from claiming that everyone enjoys being in control, that she technically didn't use her powers to manipulate the Commander into doing her bidding, that love and servitude are characterized by a willingness to do anything for others, even soiling their hands... astute viewers will notice her heavy use of Moving the Goalposts to avoid rehabilitation even before it becomes obvious to the Commander.
  • Pet the Dog: One of her advise events has her call the rest of the Real Kindness her "best friends" while questioning the Commander if they have a favorite amongst the Nikkes, in a surprisingly sincere show of affection towards her teammates.
  • Token Evil Teammate: For Real Kindness. While the entire squad is made up of criminals, both Guilty and Quency are more sympathetic than her, the former suffering from heavy trust issues and a particularly twisted version of I Just Want to Have Friends and the latter being a petty thief with kleptomaniac tendencies who only landed in solitary for escaping of prison multiple times rather than any truly grave crimes and while still shameless of her breakouts and doesn't truly "rehabilitate" by the end, still takes enough a liking to the Commander by the end of day to keep visiting him and "unofficially" join up The squad. Sin, meanwhile is a Manipulative Bastard even without her mask, utterly unapologetic of her actions and is essentially coerced into "rehabilitating", with it being questionable if she learned anything from this.
  • The Vamp: She's well-aware of her good looks and isn't afraid of using them to get what she wants. In one of her advising events she outright suggests the Commander to take off her mask so she can play tongue-wrestling with him, which the Commander luckily (or unluckily, depending on the player's opinion...) shoots down before anything can happen.

A Nikke "detained" in the Rehabilitation Center. Quency is a master escape artist, being able to break out of virtually any form of confinement no matter how secure or well-guarded. Also possesses some kleptomaniac tendencies.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: While she has no intention in changing her delinquent ways, Quency nevertheless is impressed with the Commander's dilligence in not only rehabilitating her but getting to actually know her as a person and not just a "job" to finish up as fast as possible. While The Commander's efforts into making her turn a new leaf fail for the most part and his rehabilitation is officially declared a failure, he nevertheless wins her loyalty through his kind attitude and she "joins up" at the Outpost to visit him and fight alongside the rest of the team when not in prison.
  • Brick Joke: At the start of her rehabilitation Quency expresses an interest in eating up some croquettes with the Commander after she's rehabilitated. By the end of it she decides to take up on the offer for real, albeit without the "rehabilitation" part.
  • Desires Prison Life: As she explains to Aria, the rehabilitation center feeds her and puts a roof over her head, and she has a entire trade network in there, which makes it more of a home to her than a prison. Unlike most cases of this trope however, Quency has no interest in obeying the prison norms, and gets out of there as she pleases. It's one of the reasons she chooses to "stay" in the rehabilitation center instead of going through a reform to be released through legal means, after all, she's by all means free already...
  • Escape Artist: The solitary cell she's detained in the Rehabilitation Center? Yeah, that barely does anything to shackle her down, and the first counseling session already makes it clear she's escaped it multiple times to take a stroll around the Ark. The literal shackles around her arms and legs can't do much to slow her down either.
  • Everyone Has Standards: If the Commander suggests she landed in the rehabilitation center for murder, she balks at him and says she's not a "monster", showing that cold-blooded killing is beneath her. While at first this seems like a lie to dismiss his rehabilitation efforts, the lack of mention of any physical assault in her criminal profile and her reaction to nearly killing The Commander in a cave-in indicates this to be true.
  • The Gadfly: Quency has as much fun teasing and pressing on other people's hot buttons for kicks as she has in defying authority figures. In one of Guilty's advising events, she places a bottle of lotion on a table near Guilty after telling her that her hands must be dried and cracked from being cuffed... knowing that Guilty is unable to use it due to the aforementioned restraints. (The Commander calms the latter down by applying the hand lotion on her himself.)
  • Harmless Villain: The only reason Quency ended up in Real Kindness as one of its "worst" convicts is the fact she has escaped prison multiple times and is unashamed about that fact. Her crimes otherwise limit themselves to petty thieving and occasionally overcharging when trading items inside prison. The one time she ends up putting someone's life on the line for real i.e. the Commander, she's left genuinely taken aback. Which is why the Commander is actually OK with her not rehabilitating by the end of her story, since not only is she not a threat to society, but she's also happier in prison where she's essentially a local celebrity. The fact she took a liking to him and can visit the Outpost any time she feels like also helps.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • In spite of declaring she has no skills besides jailbreaking, she shows a surprising knack for economics, and formulated a market system in the prison based around bottle caps all by herself.
    • She reveals a surprising appreciation for opera and singing in a Outpost event with Aria, and even promises to use her escape route through the theater to listen to her rehearsals.
  • Institutional Apparel: Her clothes are modeled after a very lewd prison uniform, with short shorts, a "shirt" that only covers her body from upwards her shoulders (and leaves her belly and cleavage fully exposed) and a black bra that barely hides her... volume—all with the classic white and black stripes typical of prisoner wear.
  • I Lied: Tells the Commander straight to his face that she lied about prisoners being allowed objects and info from the outside world in prison and her intention on rehabilitating because that's "what counselors usually want to hear".
  • My God, What Have I Done?: She drops any teasing or mocking comments when she finds the Commander almost starving to death inside one of the tunnels she dug out when he entered it to try and find her, trepidly asking if he's ok and begging him to wake up.
  • Play-Along Prisoner: Quency Zig-Zags this since on one hand, she frequently escapes from the rehabilitation center at her own leisure and has no respect at all for the authorities detaining her, but on the other she's also okay with "playing along" and going through rehabilitation even though she has no intention of actually "reforming". It helps that the rehabilitation center is essentially her home at this point.
  • Red Baron: Subverted in an advising event where Quency suggests that the Commander should pick a nickname for herself in the trading business. If one chooses "The Escape Artist" she's not exactly enthusiastic as it doesn't relate to her trade much, whereas if the Commander says that just Quency is better she nodingly approves.
  • Smug Smiler: Downplayed in the sense that while she's almost always smiling and she's certainly got a lot of confidence going for her, Quincy is more of a perky Nikke than a egocentric one.
  • The Tease: Can't go a single scene without teasing the Commander over whatever subject her mind is currently on—whether to see his reaction or out of interest in him.
  • Wild Card: Doesn't even join up the Commander's Outpost officially by the end of her rehabilitation path, since she didn't actually get rehabilitated. Nonetheless, Quency does take a genuine liking to the Commander and pops up from time to time in the Outpost to meet up with him and eat up some croquettes so she nevertheless gets lined up as one of the Nikkes in your squad.

  • Accidental Murder: After finding out the truth of Mary's crimes while they were humans in turning people into Nikkes without their consent, she flies into a rage and pushes her, accidentally sending Mary down a flight of stairs and killing her.
  • Berserk Button: Pepper's typically a Nice Girl, but to her anyone who harms others needs to pay for it. This included Mary herself when they were humans, who was violating her terminally ill patients' rights by turning them into Nikkes without asking for consent first, resulting in Pepper assaulting and accidentally killing her.
  • Boyfriend Bluff: The Commander was happy to oblige when approached by Pepper to play the role of her boyfriend as a part of her attempt to persuade a patient into undergoing a critical operation.
  • Broken Pedestal: In their human lives, Pepper was heartbroken and furious upon realizing Mary's involvement in nonconsensually turning people into Nikkes, to the point that she shoves Mary and accidentally kills her. While this is no longer the case as a Nikke, since Pepper has no memories of her human life, Mary still can't bring herself to let her know the truth all over again.
  • Déjà Vu: Her resurfacing human memories of killing Mary result in her going through this in Part 2 of the BlueWater Island event, but she ultimately doesn't regain a clear picture of what happened and writes it off as nothing by the end of the event.
  • Despair Event Horizon: According to Mary, Pepper was never able to forgive herself for murdering her in their previous lives, and would spend the rest of her human life spiraling in depression.
  • Flashback Echo: At the end of BlueWater Island Story I, Pepper playfully pushes Mary into the ocean shore while the team is enjoying themselves at sunrise. This causes her to remember her traumatic memory of killing Mary by pushing her down a flight of stairs, which is accompanied by Dull Eyes of Unhappiness and screaming.
  • Freak Out: In the ending of the BlueWater Island event's Story I, she does not take it well upon remembering that she accidentally killed Mary back when they were humans by pushing her near some stairs.
  • Hidden Buxom: Her swimsuit skin from the BlueWater Island event shows she's got a hefty pair of assets on par with the other busty girls in the game, especially given her rather petite build.
  • Hidden Depths: While she's a cheery sweetheart who's incredibly devoted to helping others, this compassion goes the other way to reveal a surprising amount of contempt for people who bring harm to others, believing should pay and suffer in the worst way possible. While she doesn't remember it, this sentiment resulted in her killing Mary in their human lives upon finding out the latter had been helping turn terminally ill patients and people who died in accidents into Nikkes without their consent. Though it's made clear in BlueWater Island that it was an Accidental Murder, with her merely shoving Mary while she was unfortunately close to a flight of stairs, Pepper was still angry enough to assault her in the first place.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: She has no memory of her life as a human, and as a result has no idea about Mary's past crimes before her human death, and that she herself was the one who personally killed Mary. While there is a large scare in BlueWater Island that this is no longer the case, she ultimately never wholly gets her memories back and remains unaware of what she did.
  • Nice Girl: Pepper is genuinely a kind and friendly young woman who is extremely dedicated to the wellbeing of others. It is because of this that she is revered by many hospital patients as an idol or a mascot.
  • Trauma-Induced Amnesia: Played with in that the trauma did not cause the amnesia, but the two events are directly related. Even though she resented Mary for what she was doing to humans, killing her was never her intent and the act of accidentally doing so scarred Pepper so badly that it was deemed better to delete her memories from her human life when she was turned into a Nikke. She has a brief Flashback Echo in the BlueWater Island event where she manages to recall the event in fragmented bits, but her good nature convinces her that she just imagined it.

  • Commitment Issues: Admi attempts to break off her relationship with the Commander before they can buy the last Happy Meteor Burger and win the cat doll because she is afraid that the Commander will stop caring for her once their journey to win the cat doll ends. The Commander ends up waiting in Royal Road for hours for Admi to show up to prove his love for her and ensure her that their relationship can last as long as she wants.
  • The First Cut Is the Deepest: Admi suffers from deep-seated abandonment issues related to her previous Commander, who treated her like his own daughter but eventually pushed her away because she was a Nikke. She struggles to commit to any long-term relationship with anyone or anything out of fear of being abandoned again.
  • Full-Conversion Cyborg: It's heavily implied in her Affection story that Admi is a Nikke based on a certain Commander's daughter. However, that Commander did not see Admi as "the real Admi" because she was a Nikke and ended up discarding her, causing traumatic damage.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: Admi adores cats and is a very sweet girl. She has a very friendly relationship with Nero, who also loves all things cats.

An eccentric Nikke who fancies herself a survivalist junkie, (supposedly) equipped with the knowledge to handle the most extreme conditions out on the surface. When a mission to locate a missing squad of mass-produced Nikkes arises, Tove is assigned to Unlimited to assist the Commander and the crew.

  • Armor-Piercing Question: At the end of Alone Survivor, after Unlimited makes preparations to transport the missing mass-procuded Nikkes back to the Ark, Ludmilla asks Tove if she's ready for this line of work. Initially, she hesitates to answer. In a later BlaBla chat, she messages the Commander, realizing her theoretical knowledge is not enough, and doubts if she is really cut out for Unlimited's rescue operations. The Commander reminds her of what she worked so hard for, and encourages her that she can achieve her dream of becoming a true survival expert.
  • Boobs-and-Butt Pose: Her default standing pose, which is designed to show off every aspect of her Sensual Spandex.
  • Combat Stilettos: Her plugsuit-like tights come with a set of high heels built in.
  • Man on Fire: An improvised flare ends up setting both her arms on fire. It doesn't lead to permanent damage because of her nature as a Nikke. But the heat is far beyond what her temperature sensor can handle and has her screaming in agony.
  • Otaku: Tove loves wilderness survival and has done everything she can to prepare for her first mission out in the northern region. Unfortunately, most of her knowledge comes from repeatedly studying reality TV shows akin to the likes of Man vs. Wild and various survival guides, and not actual practical knowledge.
  • Sensual Spandex: Hers is a curve-hugging orange set with bikini-shaped portions in white with black straps, and she wears a grey and white jacket over it.
  • Situational Sword: Her kit revolves around providing useful buffs, with additional effects given only to Shotgun units.
  • Support Party Member: Although she wields an Assault Rifle, her skills are specifically meant to assist allies who wield Shotguns.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Despite her bumbling attempts at showing off her survival knowledge (which leads to her and the Commander getting separated from the rest of Unlimited), she ultimately stays determined to see their mission through to the end, even enduring the pain of a make-shift signal flare scorching her arms when she attempts to alert the remaining squad of their location.

  • Combat Sadomasochist: Specifically the "masochist" part. She experiences sexual highs off of pain and loves taking battle damage. Her special ability also lets her hurt her enemies by hurting herself.
  • Death of Personality: Mihara is subject to permanent memory erasure as a consequence of her involvement in Syuen's illicit Chatterbox-hunting mission. While she is physically unharmed, the new Mihara only vaguely resembles a shadow of her former self, with Yuni dedicating her time to "rebuild" her. When Wardress meets Counters again after Chapter 12, Mihara remains socially distant from everyone else in the room, including Yuni.
  • Dressed Like a Dominatrix: Black leather? Check. Long, high-heeled boots? Check. Choker? Check. The twist is, while Mihara is in a BDSM relationship, she is far from the dominant party.
  • Safe, Sane, and Consensual: She and the Commander form a healthy relationship in their bond, and dialogue shows that the Commander is more than willing to acclimate to her kinkier desires. She also has this relationship with Yuni.
  • Save the Villain: Despite how horrible of a person Syuen is, Mihara tries to save her from Yuni's Rage Breaking Point if only to stop her from doing something that she'll regret. This ultimately culminates in her using her ability to prevent Syuen from taking further damage right before Yuni shoots Syuen in the head, causing Mihara to go down by proxy.
  • Taking the Bullet: Mihara takes a lethal bullet for Syuen by using her receptor swap ability to transfer the physical trauma to her, allowing Syuen to survive getting shot. Mihara survives, but the damage is incredibly severe to the point where she is forced to have her NIMPH removed and undergo a second memory wipe to successfully perform surgery.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Attempts this when trying to talk Yuni out of killing Syuen, saying that she knows the real Yuni would never hurt anyone. This just makes Yuni angrier, because it fully establishes that the memory-wiped Mihara doesn't remember anything about Yuni, who makes it obvious to everyone around her that she is a sadist who will hurt other people (albeit with their permission) for stimulation.

  • Break the Cutie: Yuni is introduced as part of a lovey-dovey couple with fellow squadmate Mihara with which she shares an extremely intimate emotional, psychological and physical bond with. Unfortunately, once she gets entangled with the Commander everything starts going to hell for her, as Enikk sentences Mihara to "death" following the first Chatterbox incident, leaving Yuni completely devoid of the bond she shared with her lover and leaving her paired with what is effectively a walking shadow. Syuen's Internal Reveal that Rapi was spared for reasons unknown to her causes her to foster great resentment for the Commander and triggers a Heroic BSoD, allowing Crow to swoop in and convince her to take revenge. She then proceeds to purposefully instigate a massacre of Ark civilians by tricking defenseless humans into walking straight into a combat zone, a disaster which is described as nothing short of utterly horrific, followed by luring Syuen into a trap to kill her.
  • Combat Sadomasochist: The "sadist" half to Mihara's masochist half. Yuni's body has a structural defect that prevents her from feeling anything except by direct contact, so she has an obsession with pain and loves inflicting it on others. She eventually ropes the Commander into her sadist ways as well (with consent, of course).
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Yuni's palpable shock at realizing Rapi didn't lose her memories is clearly visible on her face, even as she's crushing Rapi's arm out of sheer anguish and hatred.
  • Hartman Hips: Has fairly wide hips and thighs in contrast to her petite waist.
  • Heroic BSoD:
    • Learning that she was Locked Out of the Loop regarding Rapi's Vapaus situation causes Yuni to go into shock, which turns into Tranquil Fury as she is under the impression that the Commander deliberately chose to save Rapi over Mihara (which he didn't). Sadly this renders her vulnerable to being manipulated by Crow, who takes advantage of her plight to turn her against the Commander for her future plans.
    • It is revealed that Yuni survived the events of Chapter 24, but has been rendered catatonic due to intense psychological and physical trauma and has been sentenced to solitary confinement for the forseeable future.
  • Psycho Pink: Yuni has pink hair and isn't quite all there even before Crow gets her hooks in her.
  • Third-Person Person: Periodically.
  • You Have Failed Me: Crow (non-lethally) shoots Yuni in the head after she is unable to kill Syuen despite taking Vapaus.
