     General Tropes

  • Martial Pacifist: Even though they typically avoid killing, they're willing to throw down with their enemies using non-lethal methods. During the battle at the docks, even some of the less action-orientated members managed to take down human traffickers in rather creative ways.
  • Tarot Motifs: The Quantum Crew base their codenames on tarot arcanas, which are as seen here:
    • Fool: Hinata, as the main leader of the group.
    • Emperor and Empress: Gundam and Sonia, for obvious reasons.
    • Sun: Umeko, as she's bright and optimistic.
    • Lovers: Mikan, for being one of the first members of Hajime's harem and her choice to the join the Crew.
    • Temperance: Yoruko, as she's wise and patient.
    • Star: Chiaki, due to being Hajime's Hope, so to speak.
    • Death: Hibiki, referencing how she's trying to make a fresh start after what happened with her sister.
    • Priestess: Emma
    • Justice: Nikei
    • Strength: Makunouchi
    • Hermit: Iroha
    • Moon: Setsuka, to match Umeko's.
    • Devil: Akane
    • Fortune: Sora, as she was granted Divine Fortune in the original timeline.
    • Hierophant: Hiyoko, as she's fan of tradition.
    • Ten of Swords: Kyoji, due to wanting to make up for his past mistakes.
    • Hanged Man: Kanata
  • Thou Shall Not Kill: One of the earliest rules set up by the group was that killing was prohibited under any circumstances. Ultimately deconstructed in Season 2, when the team are forced to debate about what to do with particularly dangerous enemies like Kanade or the Despair Pillars.

The Cuddle Puddle

    Kasugano the Fool

Hajime Hinata

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_afc13cfa588a6badcad2d8f2d7c86c55_025bfa88_500.png

A survivor of the Jabberwock Island Killing Game and the main protagonist of the series. After traveling back in time, Hajime vows to rewrite history to prevent the rise of Ultimate Despair and the end of the world.

  • Badass Normal: He's back to his normal talentless self, aside from his reset ability, but he's pulled off some very impressive accomplishments regardless.
  • Beneath Suspicion: Why he doesn't mind being in the Reserve Course. No one will look twice at a talentless high schooler when compared to his flashier classmen.
  • Blessed with Suck: In the Concert Arc, Hajime learns he has the power to reset time if he screws up. Doing so requires him to die, and he remembers all the pain involved each time, and he only has a limited number of resets with no apparent way of getting more.
  • Bruce Wayne Held Hostage: In The Puppetmaster arc, he and Chiaki are both taken hostage by Maverick Storm, who demands Kasugano unmask himself in public in exchange for everyone's lives being spared.
  • Chick Magnet/Even the Guys Want Him: Hajime is a very desirable person in the eyes of many, from his polyamorous relationship in the future to the modern Cuddle Puddle now including Chiaki, Hibiki, and Gundham, with Natsumi, Monaca, Iroha, and Kana Ise also all taking a bit of an interest in him or his Kasugano persona.
  • Cool Mask: He often wears a helmet with neon blue colors when disguised as Kasugano.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: While he usually puts on a brave face, he's still very clearly suffering from his past experiences.
  • From Roommates to Romance: After the Last Day of School arc, Hibiki moves in with him. While she does become his third girlfriend and they often sleep in the same bed, they've refrained from doing anything intimate with one another until they were both 18.
  • Has a Type: It's revealed in the Clouds Pass arc Hajime has a thing for goths. His partners and the Anons both note that explains his attraction to Gundham, and often make fun of him for it.
  • In-Series Nickname: His secret identity is "Kasugano".
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: He admits to Mahiru that while he does still hold feelings for her, he wants her to be happy and encourages her to confess her feelings to Sato.
  • Kid from the Future: A glimpse into the future thanks to Mikako shows that he's the father of at least three children. It's later confirmed he and his partners have eight children: Kotoko, Taito, Kana, Itsuki, Charlotte, Sayuri, Horace and Isamu.
  • Loving a Shadow: In Season 2, Hajime starts to realize that a lot of his feelings for Chiaki and willingness to excuse her problematic behavior stem from him harboring feelings for her A.I. version. It's because of this that he starts to recognize the gamer as a flawed but still lovable person rather than a perfect angel.
  • One-Steve Limit: Subverted. He shares the same first name with the boxer Makunouchi but most readers refer to him by Hajime since he is the star of the show.
    • His family name is also the same given name as Akane's oldest brother, Hinata.
  • Polyamory: A member of the polyamourous "Cuddle Puddle" with Chiaki, Mikan, Hibiki, Sonia, Hiyoko, and Gundham.
  • The Protagonist: The MVP of A Student Out of Time.
  • Ridiculously Average Guy: As a result of traveling back to his younger self, he no longer has any of the talents he once possessed thanks to the Izuru Kamukura project.
  • Taking You with Me: Before resetting the timeline in the Twisted Sister Arc, Hajime decides to commit a murder-suicide by holding onto Kanade and throwing each other off a school building. He does this to ensure that if Yasuke's multiverse theory is true, then his friends wouldn't have to worry about Kanade being a threat to them when he's gone.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Having witnessed ongoing bloodshed and death from the original timeline, the boy makes it a rule that neither he nor his compatriots shall kill their enemies.
  • Uncertain Doom: During the Puppetmaster Arc, Hajime succumbs to mysterious but painful headaches that render him unconscious. While his friends and lovers are unsure if he's truly "dead", what shocks them most is that his time traveling tattoo has disappeared. Granted, he does come back, but with no idea what happened or why.

    The Star

Chiaki Nanami

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_f841c121512d580739dd9d928929a4ae_7ab115f6_500.png

The Ultimate Gamer of Class 77-B and the deuteragonist of the series. She becomes a close girlfriend to Hajime as she joins him on his quest to save the world.

  • Adaptational Sexuality: States herself to be pansexual while her, Kokoro and Mikako are discussing sexualities because Mikako's questioning hers after seeing a vision of her dancing with another girl.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Before befriending Hajime and Class 77-B, she admits that she used to be bullied for her disability, her weight, and her gaming interest.
  • The Bait: In the Puppetmaster Arc, Chiaki realizes that Maverick Storm targeted her, and her family, by sending her a brochure for his island cult. Chiaki decides to use this to her advantage by pretending to accept his offer so she can get into his island base along with Hajime to take down his defenses.
  • Born Lucky: Quite literally. Her mother was basically infertile but was working as a nurse during Utsuro's first miracle, which resulted in her birth.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: She calls out her parents for their neglect of her during The Storm Dissipates Arc. Subverted, however, when it turns out they're nowhere near as bad as she described them.
  • Disabled in the Adaptation: She has Asperger's Syndrome.
  • Fetish: Chiaki admits that she has a kink for seeing her lover be intimate with other people, which is why she's a strong advocate for the Cuddle Puddle dynamic. She feels very awkward and uncomfortable admitting it, and while her friends do support her, it takes awhile for her to feel less guilty about it.
  • Formerly Fat: Was quite chubby when she was a child due to an unhealthy diet, which she was bullied for. While she’s slimmed down in her teens, she’s still insecure over her weight and continues to wish she could be thinner. Or at least have smaller boobs.
  • Gamer Chick: She is a professional gamer and caries around loads of cartridges in her backpack.
  • Heroic BSoD: She unfortunately goes through a depression period during the Storm Dissipates Arc after her sister succumbs to her injuries and dies.
  • Hollywood Genetics: Chiaki resembles her grandparents on her father's side more than she resembles her parents.
  • Hope Bringer: Has often been nicknamed as "the New Ultimate Hope" on account of her ability to unite people and motivate them into giving their best.
  • I Let Gwen Stacy Die: Chiaki is guilt-ridden over not being able to save Kana.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Star."
  • Kid from the Future: In 2030, she has a daughter with Hajime named Kana.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: She comes from a wealthy family, but she had no close friends prior to coming to Hope's Peak, and her parents are always away on business that they practically neglect her. Subverted in that her family isn't as wealthy as she assumed they were growing up.
  • The Needs of the Many: Chiaki is always willing to offer thousands of yen from her family's income as a way of helping her friends in their world saving missions. This gets deconstructed after Maverick's defeat when the parents find out that their daughter was stealing behind their back and she didn't even bother to ask them. It also doesn't help that the Nanamis aren't as financially secure as she thought.
  • One Degree of Separation: According to her mother, Chiaki's birth was partially the result of Utsuro's first miracle.
  • Parental Neglect: Played With. Chiaki’s parents do neglect her, not because they don’t care about her, but because their work makes them so busy that they don’t have enough time to spend with her. Her father Tenmei does promise to whenever he can, and they do clearly still love their daughter considering how they send her to speech therapy for her Asperger’s.
  • Polyamory: A member of the polyamourous "Cuddle Puddle" with Hajime, Mikan, Hibiki, Sonia, Hiyoko, and Gundham.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In The Puppetmaster arc, it's revealed that she and Kana Ise are half-sisters.
  • Shock and Awe: She wields tasers and attacks human traffickers with them during the Season 1 finale.
  • Won't Take "Yes" for an Answer: During the Die Free or Live Hard arc, when she needs her dad's help defusing a bomb, she expects to have a lot of explaining to do and keeps explaining after her dad has not only agreed to help, but is extremely excited about doing so.

    The Lovers

Mikan Tsumiki

The Ultimate Nurse of Class 77-B. Initially a fragile and timid girl, she becomes more courageous as she becomes involved in the Quantum Crew.

  • Abusive Parents: When Kotoko asks her what having good parents is like, Mikan admits that she's not sure either. It is later revealed in The Storm Dissipates that her mother would force her into doing things like handing over her underwear or stripping for perverts for more money and told her that her dreams of being a nurse were a waste of time.
  • Bad Samaritan: She considers herself to be this when she first started her nursing career. She provided medical care and attention to those in need so she could have some power over them. Though she grew out of it and offers genuine care.
  • Big "OMG!": How she reacts to getting the okay to officially adopt Kotoko.
  • Character Development: Thanks to being around friends and lovers who support her, Mikan starts to lose her timid nature and becomes more confident in herself. She even loses her stuttered speech after the first season.
  • Cool Big Sis: She becomes a big sister to Kotoko Utsugi. By the end of Season 2, the nurse has officially adopted her.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: She does this to Chiaki after the gamer tries to attack the Estu the Ultimate Mortician while blaming her family for Kana's death.
  • Grew a Spine: Thanks to the support of her friends and lovers, Mikan becomes more and more willing to stand up for herself, even dropping her stutter by the end of the first season.
  • Heroic Bastard: Mikan was a bastard child, yet she has a big heart and is more then willing to help her friends and lovers whenever they need it.
  • I Am Not My Mother: Mikan admits that she terrified that she'll end up becoming like her mother, who was a cruel woman who cared for no one but herself. Both Kotoko and Harumi assure her that she is anything but.
  • Important Haircut: In Season 2's Black and White Christmas Arc, she gives herself a short haircut.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Lovers."
  • It's Personal: In the Old Ghosts Arc, she decides to seek out the abomination who conceived her in order to put the past behind her and show how much she's grown.
  • Kid from the Future: By 2030, she has a son with Hajime, named Taito. Interestingly she's also the first member of the Cuddle Puddle to have a baby.
  • The Medic: She is the Ultimate Nurse and provides medical services to those in need.
  • "No. Just… No" Reaction: She says this when Chiaki declares that her parents are responsible for everything going wrong during the Clouds Pass Arc.
  • Polyamory: A member of the polyamourous "Cuddle Puddle" with Hajime, Chiaki, Hibiki, Sonia, Hiyoko, and Gundham.
  • Rage Breaking Point: She was outright disgusted and horrified when she learned of all the trauma Kotoko had to endure from her abusive parents. But she really loses it when she finds out that Kotoko was diagnosed with HIV from all the sexual abuse.
  • Rape as Backstory: Judging from the fact she doesn't like talking about it and she admits to Kotoko that they actually had more things in common than she knew, it's heavily implied her first sexual experience was not consensual. Later, it's revealed that her mother, while it seems she never explicitly forced Mikan to perform sexual acts, still forced her to do things like strip in front of older men for money.
  • Self-Harm: Those bandages she wears cover up scars she got from cutting herself.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: She gives this to Yumi Utsugi after being fed up with the woman's twisted ideologies and how little she thinks of children. She turns the tables on Yumi by pointing out how her ambitions have not only traumatized Kotoko but left her inflicted with AIDS.
  • They Know Too Much: She at first assumes that Hajime and Chiaki were planning to kill her for learning about Hajime being a time traveler. Needless to say, they were quick to shoot that idea down.
  • Tranquil Fury: When Mikan learns exactly what Kotoko's father has been forcing her to do, she doesn't get outwardly angry, but instead adopts a haunting expression that everyone can tell means she is utterly furious beyond belief. One Anon even namedrops this trope.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: She gives a hell of a speech to Chiaki for selfishly blaming her parents for Kana's death. She even chastises her lover for painting her parents in such a horrible light when in truth they're actually decent people and Chiaki herself has never made an attempt to connect with them. It's an exceptionally sore subject since Mikan's mother was a more concrete example of an abusive parent.
  • You Remind Me of X: She explains to Chiaki that her wallowing in self-pity while blaming her family and not taking care of themselves reminds the nurse too much of her old self.

    The Empress

Sonia Nevermind

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_64d4b41f65acae8373174b73ec6cccec_3fc003f1_500.png

The Ultimate Princess and heiress to the Kingdom of Novoselic. A girl with a noble heart and a surprising amount of knowledge on crime cases who offers her support to the heroes.

  • Action Girl: She gets to showcase her martial arts skills when defeating Kanade.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Originally, she was just a Japanophile who wanted to study abroad. Here, part of the reason she came to Japan was to protect her from insurgents in Novoselic.
  • Because Destiny Says So: Having grown up knowing she'll be queen someday, Sonia struggles with how much her decisions are her own and how much are outside of her control. Her mother reassures her that, while destiny is where we end up, how we get there is far more important.
  • Bystander Syndrome: In the Cloud Passes Arc, she accuses herself of falling into this trope as she would always follow along the whims of destiny.
  • Covered in Scars: Her old timeline self is covered in burn marks from when she burned down her home country.
  • Crazy-Prepared: She admits that she has a rocket launcher for emergencies because "The people of Novoselic are always prepared!"
  • Cuddle Bug: According to Hinata, Sonia’s old timeline self loved cuddling.
  • The Exile: A willing example. Due to ongoing conflicts in Sonia's home nation, as well as her attempted kidnappings, she was sent to Japan partly to keep her safe.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Discussed. Sonia's original goal was to temporarily forget about her princess life so she can experience life like a normal teenage girl. But after getting caught up in the chaotic events of the Concert Arc and realizing how much is at stake, she feels that she must put off that dream and use her princess skills to help the Crew as much as possible. Thankfully, Hajime and the members of the Cuddle Puddle do everything they can to help her live like a normal girl.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Empress."
  • Kid from the Future: By 2030, Sonia has a daughter named Charlotte with Gundam and a son named Horace with Hajime.
  • The Needs of the Many: As future queen, Sonia is willing to accept heavy-handed deeds or actions if it guarantees the safety of her friends and the general public. An example of this is during the Twisted Sister Aftermath Arc where she supports the decision to mind wipe Kanade after capturing her.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: She has a fascination with the occult and serial killer cases. It's because of this that she starts researching the mysterious incidents regarding the Otonokoji twins and becomes entangled in the Concert Arc.
  • Number Two: She tends to be the one who takes charge when Hajime isn't around.
  • Off with Her Head!: In the Twisted Sister timeline, she's unfortunately beheaded by Kanade. She gets better thanks to Hajime resetting time.
  • Polyamory: A member of the polyamourous "Cuddle Puddle" with Hajime, Chiaki, Mikan, Hibiki, Hiyoko, and Gundham.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Just like in canon, Sonia has to deal with Kazuichi's unwanted advances and "nice guy" compliments. But this time, during the Last Day of School Arc, she finally tells him off by saying how creepy he is and how she's never going to reciprocate his feelings for her.
  • Royal Rapier: She uses a rapier sword for combat and comes from a royal lineage.
  • Sophisticated as Hell: She has her moments, the best example being her yelling "eat shit, murderer" during her Curb-Stomp Battle with Kanade.

    The Emperor

Gundam Tanaka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_cf7471d2b98524254c11a2d69d8226d9_8a923258_500.png

The Ultimate Breeder. A boy with a flair for the dramatic who uses his animal training abilities to support Hajime's cause.

  • The Aloner: Throughout Season 1, Gundam preferred to stay aloof from others, claiming that he is a dangerous being who has always been alone for most of his life. When offered to join the Cuddle Puddle, he feels confused and scared about being instantly accepted by so many different people at once. While he does join them, he still takes his time with adjusting to his new life.
  • The Beastmaster: His talent involves training a variety of animals. Upon joining the Quantum Crew, he would use his animals for search missions or to tamper with security feeds.
  • Chuunibyou: He's made a name for himself as the Overlord of Ice and vows that he and his allies shall rule the world with their remarkable powers. Hibiki even calls him this when meeting him for the first time. He's revealed to have dropped this persona when he becomes a man in 2030, but he still shows this side of himself to his kids and family on occasion.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He reveals to Hibiki that he was born by the union of an angel (his mother) and a devil (his father). Unfortunately, the devil decided to abandon the two shortly after and the family of the angel did not approve of his birth, leaving the angel to do everything in her power to provide for him. At one point, the angel would perish, leaving the Overlord of Ice to be completely alone.
  • Flowery Elizabethan English: His manner of speech is quite elaborate which suits his "Overlord" persona.
  • Friend to All Living Things: True to his animal breeding title, he holds all beasts within his empire with the upmost respect and will do everything in his power to strengthen their resolve and health. In the future, he's dedicated to promoting natural conservation when he becomes King of Novoselic.
  • In-Series Nickname: His codename is "Emperor."
  • Kid from the Future: By 2030, he sires a daughter with Sonia named Charlotte and another child with Hibiki named Isamu.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: Gundham believes that life as a whole, both humans and animals, are naturally inclined toward aggression and cruelty. He also believes it's important to show them that there's always a better way.
  • The Nicknamer: He likes to give fantasy themed nicknames to his closest friends. Ex. "She-Cat/Dark Queen" for Sonia or "Siren" for Hibiki.
  • The One Guy: As of now, he is the only boy apart from Hajime to be involved in the Cuddle Puddle.
  • Polyamory: A member of the polyamourous "Cuddle Puddle" with Hajime, Chiaki, Mikan, Hibiki, Sonia, and Hiyoko.

    Death

Hibiki Otonokoji

The vocalist of the popular idol band "Melody Rhythm". She's saved during the Concert Arc and eventually joins the Quantum Crew in their missions.

  • Ascended Extra: Originally more of a secondary character and later killer/victim in Super Danganronpa Another 2, she's a much more prominent player here, becoming a full-on hero by the end of Season 1.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Discussed. After learning about Kanade's true nature and why she became such a cruel monster, Hibiki wished that she had the chance to treat her better when she was still innocent. She gets her wish when Yasuke mind wipes Kanade and basically turns her into the friendly girl she pretended to be. While Hibiki is grateful for the second chance, she still feels sorrow that it took a memory wipe to make it happen.
  • Big Sister Bully: She treated Kanade very poorly growing up. She regrets every moment of it.
  • Cain and Abel: The "Abel" to Kanade's "Cain".
  • Character Development: She goes from cruelly bullying her sister to becoming utterly terrified of her, to firmly establishing herself as her own, much kinder and nobler person.
  • Driven to Suicide: She tries to take her own life at one point, fearing that Kanade will come for her and kill Hajime and the others as long as she's alive. Thankfully, Hajime talks her out of it.
  • From Roommates to Romance: After the Last Day of School arc, she moves in with Hajime. While she does become his third girlfriend and they often sleep in the same bed, they've yet to do anything intimate with one-another, although she does offer to lose her virginity to him at one point.
  • Hates Being Touched: Initially, she felt extremely uncomfortable with physical contact due to the grim implications of her sister violating her. She starts to get better with the help of her friends and lovers.
  • Height Angst: She is not fond of being stuck at 145 cm.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Death."
  • It's All My Fault: She often blames herself for Kanade becoming a killer, wishing she'd treated her better growing up.
  • Kid from the Future: In Mikako's first vision, she sees a girl named Sayuri Hinata, who turns out to be Hajime and Hibiki's daughter. She also has another child with Gundham named Isamu.
  • The Nicknamer: Just like in canon, she likes to give nicknames to her friends and loved ones. Like "Haji" for Hajime or "Aki" for Chiaki.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: The second-shortest member of the Quantum Crew, but also one of its most physical fighters.
  • Polyamory: A member of the polyamourous "Cuddle Puddle" with Hajime, Chiaki, Mikan, Sonia, Hiyoko, and Gundham.
  • Promoted to Love Interest: Becomes a proud member of the "Cuddle Puddle".
  • Secret-Keeper: She helps keep the fact that Hajime is Kasugano secret even before she joins the Quantum Crew.
  • Stress Vomit: She throws up a couple time after she realizes that Kanade may have used her catatonic state to sexually violate her.
  • Rescue Romance: It's not hard to see why she joined the Cuddle Puddle after they all rescued her.
  • Rōnin: She adopts this role after learning to use a sword, even declaring herself as one.
  • Took a Level in Badass: She becomes a very competent fighter after joining the Quantum Crew, even learning swordsmanship from Peko and manages to take down multiple opponents.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Hibiki has to endure learning that her sister is a serial killer who injured and murdered over 60 people for getting too close to her, her parents abandoning them after also learning this news, and being kicked out of Hope's Peak, leaving her essentially homeless, all in the space of a few weeks...
  • You Are Not Alone: ...Thankfully, Hajime and all of Class 77-B are there for her.

    The Hierophant

Hiyoko Saionji

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_557324cf2b175a4f56a3528524c65253_17712c72_500.png

The Ultimate Traditional Dancer. A sassy girl with a mean streak who eventually joins the Quantum Crew after they rescue her in the Storm Arc.

  • Bad People Abuse Animals: In her younger years, she had a hobby of harming small creatures like Mr. Ants. Tomoe even claims that she took a butterfly and ripped it's wings right in front of her.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: In the Connections Arc, Hiyoko stands up to her Racist Grandma by calling her out for her classist beliefs and offensive behavior.
  • Damsel in Distress: She's kidnapped alongside Mahiru by pedophilic traffickers in the Picture Perfect Arc.
  • Distracted by My Own Sexy: When Hiyoko visits the future for the first time, she checks herself out and is quite pleased by what she will look like.
  • Freudian Excuse: Her mean personality can be traced back to her grandmother, the matriarch of the Saionji Clan, who is a Japanese traditionalist and one of the worst human beings imaginable.
  • Groin Attack:
    • She kicks Junya in the crotch with a pair of steel-toed boots once she's set free during the Storm arc.
    • She gives another one to Maverick Storm at the end of the Puppetmaster arc.
  • I Got Bigger: She's setting up to have her growth spurt just like in canon. She is looking forward to it.
  • I Have No Son!: Inverted. In the future of 2030, her daughter Itsuki reveals that she cut all ties to the Saionji Clan and has never spoken to them since, though this changes when she makes up with her mother.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Hierophant."
  • Kid from the Future: In one of Mikako's future visions, she sees herself with a daughter named Itsuki.
  • Marry for Love: She makes it clear to her grandmother that she's not interested in money or status, but that she wants to marry Hajime out of love.
  • Must Make Amends: She starts to own up to her horrible behavior in Season 2. Additionally, during the Family Feud Arc, Tomoe Kimura, one of her former victims, requests a formal apology and Hiyoko going to therapy in order to allow her mother to take part in bringing her back to Hope's Peak.
  • Polyamory: A member of the polyamorous "Cuddle Puddle" with Hajime, Chiaki, Mikan, Sonia, Hibiki, and Gundham.
  • Put on a Bus: She's absent from the Storm Dissipates and Clouds Pass arcs due to being pulled out of school by Izumi.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: She loses a lot of her cruel tendencies at the end of Season 1 thanks to reflecting on her past actions while being held prisoner. She even treats her former victim Mikan better when she sees how much the nurse has changed and took part in her rescue.

Crew Members

    Temperance

Dr. Yoruko Kabuya

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_e30ff93b1b5ab473b3c3c454e651a115_8147be56_500.png

Class 66's Former Ultimate Hostess and the new school guidance counselor following the incident at the Practical Exams. Along with becoming a valuable ally for the Quantum Crew, she is also revealed to be the second time traveler.

  • Age-Gap Romance: Discussed. She felt guilty about falling in love with Sora due to the big age gap between them, and was reluctant to get into a relationship with her over it. Sora counters by saying, since she was created from a much older Akane and has had her own continuous life experiences since then, she's technically an adult as well. The two promise, even if it's complicated, to try and work things out.
  • Anger Born of Worry: She rightfully scolds Nikei and Sonia when they try to confront the angry mob in the Puppetmaster Arc knowing fully well that they can be killed doing so.
  • Badass Boast: When anons express worry over her getting targeted by Junko, she replies with this:
I survived the Tragedy and Sannoji’s Killing Game. That bitch is gonna have to try harder than that.
  • I Hate Past Me: She openly admits that she wasn't proud of how she acted during the Utsuroshima Island Killing Game. Particularly with how she constantly told others to kill themselves, antagonized Sora for not trusting her despite the snow white maiden having her own identity crisis and even trying to murder Yuki out of desperation.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Temperance."
  • Kid from the Future: In 2030, she and Sora have a son named Eijiro.
  • Official Couple: With Sora.
  • Parental Substitute: She's among one of the few sources of good adult guidance that the cast has.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Her mature demeanor and wisdom are greatly appreciated by the kids under her care.
  • Something Only They Would Say: She exposes herself as the second time traveler when she refers to Hajime as Kamukura, in spite of the fact he rejected the project in this timeline.
  • The Shrink: It's her job, after all.
  • Straight Gay: She's openly a lesbian.
  • Team Mom: Most of the kids think of her as a mother figure on account of how reliable and supportive she is.
  • Tsundere: Moved on from it for the most part, though she still has her moments, mostly when it comes to Sora.

    The Sun

The Ultimate Quantum Physicist of Class 75. A brilliant young scientist who becomes a crucial member to the Quantum Crew.

  • And I Must Scream: The result of her having slowed her perception of time down in order to try and get more work done. Thankfully Chiaki resuscitated her.
  • Artificial Limbs: She was struck by lightning when she was younger, which damaged her right arm to the point of requiring it be amputated. What she has now is a mechanical prosthetic covered in artificial skin.
  • Big Good: The Before and After Arc reveals that she was the one who sought out Hajime in the original timeline and convinced him, Yoruko and Sora to participate in her time travel project to rewrite history for the better.
  • Cyborg: She has an implant in her temple reminiscent of Seven of Nine and her right arm is also a prosthetic covered in living tissue. Her Tragedy timeline self had to replace the entire right half of her torso, from collar to pelvis, with cybernetics after a grenade attack.
  • Fourth-Wall Observer: Out of all the characters, Umeko stands out as having more awareness in regards to the readers/anons and can regulate what information they reveal to certain people. At one point, she even takes an anon's question and tosses it to the side like if it was cardboard.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Umeko often creates inventions to support the Crew's time travel situation. One of which involves a tachyon detector which she uses to detect tachyon activity in all of Japan to look for potential time travelers.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She has strawberry blond hair and a heart of 20k gold.
  • Handicapped Badass: Downplayed. She gained an eye implant to help with her epilepsy and has a mechanical arm prosthetic, but that doesn't deter her from being a stellar physicist.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Sun."
  • Kid from the Future: In 2030, she and Setsuka have a daughter named Naoko.
  • Mama Bear: She becomes protective of the Warriors of Hope, even threatening to melt Maverick Storm into slag if he hurts them. The angriest we see Umeko is when she confronts her adopted son Nagisa’s birth mother, who she calls out for abusing him. She even expresses a desire to kill her after the elder woman smugly walked out of jail with no remorse or punishment for her actions, taunting the young scientist while doing so.
  • Ms. Exposition: She provides the heroes of the Crew, and the audience, with detailed lectures on how time travel works in their story.
  • Official Couple: With Setsuka.
  • Parental Substitute: Alongside Setsuka, she becomes the adoptive mother of Nagisa Shingetsu.
  • Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: In the original timeline, she dropped off the face of the Earth and was extremely difficult to find, with many believing her to have died in the Tragedy. As it turned out, she was heavily wounded and forced to rely on cybernetics to survive. She simply went into hiding and was invested in a time travel experiment which would kickstart the events of the story.
  • Straight Gay: She's a lesbian and in a relationship with Setsuka.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: She likes mochi donuts.
  • Unstoppable Rage: During the Twisted Sister Aftermath Arc, she slaps and verbally berates Yasuke for tormenting her friend Hajime with his multi-verse theory and how the boy is potentially endangering others everytime he resets the timeline. She even states that his "theory" had no scientific backing and it was something he came up with just by reading manga.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: Part of her motivation for inventing time travel in the original timeline, as even her cybernetics weren't enough to keep her alive forever and only she had the knowledge to operate the time machine.

Class 73's Former Ultimate Billiards Player. Initially working as a private investigator, she joins forces with the Quantum Crew when they discover that they share the same goals and warn her about the Tragedy.

  • Age Lift: LINUJ has stated that Setsuka is among the more mature members of the cast. Here, she's only in her early twenties.
  • The Alcoholic: She has a bit of a drinking problem.
  • Cool Big Sis: She becomes a sort of big sister figure to Nikei.
  • Double Agent: She admits that she worked undercover as Mr. Utsugi's dental assistant and occasional girlfriend in order to investigate the cases surrounding the Warriors of Hope.
  • Electronic Eyes: Her "Devil's Eye" is a built in camera that can record and analyze anything she locks onto.
  • The Gadfly: She still likes to pull jokes every now and then.
  • Good Smoking, Evil Smoking: She has a habit of smoking and is trying to quit.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Moon."
  • Kid from the Future: In 2030, she and Umeko have a daughter named Naoko.
  • The Mole: As a professional investigator, she has consistent contact with the police department. Thanks to this, she can relay confidential information that's discussed by Tsurugi or other officers to her friends.
  • The Nicknamer: Like Hibiki, she likes giving people nicknames.
  • Official Couple: With Umeko.
  • Parental Substitute: Alongside Umeko, she becomes the adoptive mother of Nagisa Shingetsu.
  • Private Detective: After being banned from the billiards community for cheating, Setsuka found work as a private investigator.

    The Devil

Akane Taira

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_f881df6c8bc725ae1fe37b2a5f0dab00_85e4ef77_640.png

A competent and famous young maid who ends up entangling herself with the Quantum Crew.

  • All Women Are Lustful: One of the most amorous characters in the story.
  • Can't Act Perverted Toward a Love Interest: The one person she never acts overly flirty toward is Ayame.
  • Cuddle Bug: That being said, her biggest desire seems to be platonic physical affection, primarily hugs.
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: Her parents died when she was a baby, and she grew up in a rundown orphanage full of abusive caretakers. Thankfully for her, it closed down and she left to pursue a successful career as a maid.
  • Does Not Like Men: She likes boys, just not older men.
  • Does Not Like Spam: She detests bitter coffee, but she's willing to drink it to make Sora happy.
  • Everyone Has Standards: While Akane is amorous and openly pansexual, she makes it clear she doesn't perform sexual favors simply when asked.
  • Friend to All Children: Akane adores kids and it's been noted she may have the strongest maternal instincts out of anyone. Unsurprisingly, she's the go-to for protecting a young Ayumu Fujimori and she has a huge family in the future.
  • Harem Seeker: She's looking to build her own just like Hajime's. Sora even jokes that time travelers get harems, but relinquishes her privileges to Akane since she already has Yoruko.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: What she wants most is love, a home, and a family of her own. This is reflected in her Divine Luck.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Devil."
  • The Infiltration: During the Puppetmaster Arc, she ends up falling overboard as the Crew sails away from Sunny Days Island because of an ambush. The maid ends up stranded on the island and decides to make the most of her situation by investigating on her own.
  • Kid from the Future: She's the mother of five kids by 2030; two with Nikei, one with Ayame, she's pregnant with her and Yuki's child, and she's also an honorary parent to Yuki and Kizuna's daughter.
  • Ninja Maid: Thanks to data Sora downloaded directly into her mind, she's become a fighter on par with Sonia.
  • Polyamory: With Ayame and Nikei as of the Puppetmaster Arc. By 2030, she's also together with Yuki and Kizuna.
  • Sharing a Body: Thanks to a brain implant, she and Sora essentially share a body, and can experience each others thoughts, memories, emotions and senses.
  • Shipper on Deck: She completely supports Sora/Yoruko, even outright saying "I ship it" at one point.
  • The Tease: She has her moments, especially when Nikei is around.
  • Workaholic: She could definitely be seen as one, given her dedication to her work (both as a maid and with the Quantum Crew).

    Wheel of Fortune

Sora Taira

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_21b035738095bab7ae7b29bf7816650b_d6a5b3e0_500.png

A high-spirited A.I. based off the brain patterns of Akane Taira, and the main protagonist of Super Danganronpa Another 2. She is also the third time traveler.

  • Become a Real Boy: Downplayed. She does express the desire of gaining a human body but she isn't in a rush to obtain one thanks to the many capabilities she can perform as an A.I. By the end of 2012, she eventually gains her own body.
  • Benevolent A.I.: She's a sophisticated artificial intelligence and is a bonafide good guy.
  • Call a Human a "Meatbag": Very fond of doing this as a joke, due to being an artificial intelligence.
  • The Cracker: Thanks to being an advanced AI, Sora can break into any computer or security system. This allows her to look for documents of interest, relay surveillance footage for her allies or even tamper with security footage when breaking and entering. She can even hijack enemy robots to give herself and her friends an advantage.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Mentions she could probably out-snark Hajime the moment they meet.
  • The Gadfly: She likes to poke fun at others when the opportunity presents itself, and a lot of her humor is based on "tech rules, humans drool" content that Bender Rodriguez would enjoy.
  • It's All My Fault: She blames herself for Akane falling overboard and getting stuck on Maverick's island due to her fear of the ocean acting up at the worst possible time.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Fortune."
  • Kid from the Future: In 2030, she and Yoruko have a son named Eijiro.
  • The Lost Lenore: To Yoruko originally, due to the chance she might not be created in the new timeline due to the changes happening. She breaks down crying when she discovers Sora is a time traveler as well.
  • Ms. Exposition: Due to coming from the future and being more familiar with Utsuro's existence and Mikado's masterplan, she often explains to her friends and the readers about the events of SDRA2.
  • Must Have Caffeine: She loves coffee, and it's one of the things she'll look forward to having when she becomes human. Naturally, it's one of the first things she enjoys when she does end up with a body.
  • Official Couple: With Yoruko.
  • Sharing a Body: Thanks to a brain implant, she and Akane essentially share a body, and are able to experience each others thoughts, memories, emotions and senses.
  • Something Only They Would Say: Nikei is skeptical of her being the real thing, but she proves herself a time traveler by telling Yoruko what her last words were before her sacrifice in the original timeline.
  • Spanner in the Works: As mentioned above, Sora can get into security systems to provide her friends with important information or make phone calls to people of interest to reach a given goal.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Due to the failed Mass Execution from her original story, she has understandably developed a fear of the ocean.

    Ten of Swords

Dr. Kyoji Nakamura

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_984e74fec4d35c3c136eab25043c908b_ad85113c_1280.png

Class 75's Former Ultimate Geneticist who has questionable ties with Hope's Peak. He ultimately joins the Quantum Crew in the hopes of fixing his mistakes.

  • Berserk Button: Kyoji loses it whenever Maverick Storm is brought up.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Right as it seems that Maverick is finally going to drive Chiaki over the Despair Event Horizon, he shows up to confront Maverick.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Knowing how dangerous Maverick is, Kyoji ensured to take extra precautions when finally facing his old enemy. This involves using undisputable evidence of Maverick having a child to mentally shock him along with wearing a bullet proof vest when the monster tries to shoot him.
  • Double Agent: At first we're led to believe that he's working with Towa and the human traffickers, only to backstab them and reveal that he only joined them to gain their trust to take them out later on.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Due to dropping out of Hope's Peak due to his guilt over participating in the Kamakura Project, he was stuck with the nickname "Ultimate Dropout."
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: He's convinced he's this with the Quantum Crew, although most of them don't really have a problem with him and actually consider him a friend. He just really hates himself.
  • Half-Breed Discrimination: He admits that he used to be bullied a lot due to his Korean lineage.
  • His Own Worst Enemy: While a kind man at heart, Kyoji's Fatal Flaw is ultimately his own crushing self-loathing over the horrible things he did. Because of his desire to make up for his past mistakes, he's ultimately done a lot more harm than good, which leads to a self-perpetuating cycle. Many people who he's hurt, such as Estu, have said all they want from him is an apology; no big gestures to fix what he's done, just a simple apology. The problem is that he's too afraid of being rejected to actually try it yet.
  • Must Make Amends: His reasons for joining the Quantum Crew are to make up for participating in the Kamakura Project, murdering seven people in the process.
  • My Greatest Failure: He cites being part of the Kamakura Project and experimenting on unsuspecting teen participants who ultimately died from the procedures as his greatest regret.
  • Parental Substitute: He ends up becoming an adoptive father and caretaker to Monaca, as well as a mindwiped Kanade, at the end of their respective arcs.
  • Platonic Prostitution: As he explains in the Old Ghosts arc, after dropping out of Hope's Peak, he hired a prostitute so he could have someone to talk to about his emotional issues, especially since he was on the verge of suicide. The prostitute, Himari Matsunaga, was kind enough to listen and helped revitalize his will to live.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: He gives an epic one to Maverick, claiming that the reason he tries so hard to be a big, scary monster is because of the unending trauma from his failed foster families. His need for feeding off of negative emotions and toxicity from those around him is his pathetic attempt at taking control of his life and how he's more greater then what he really is: a sad, angry little man.
  • Self-Deprecation: He has a habit of bringing up his past sins and how he's a horrible person for what he did.
  • Ship Tease: With Miaya and Himari Matsunaga.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: His is udon.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: In the Let The Dogs Out Arc, he rightfully calls out the Quantum Crew for purposefully avoiding Kanade despite agreeing to memory wipe her to make her more harmless. While he understands their reasons for avoiding her, the geneticist points out that the crew agreed to the decision yet none of them have made an effort to help her development afterwards. Especially considering that it's always been him and Monaca who frequently interact with the former yandere.
  • Zero-Approval Gambit: His goal for working alongside Junya and Haiji's human trafficking ring was, in fact, to get them all arrested, including himself. Afterword, he planned to use the resulting trial to expose Hope's Peak's crimes to the world. This basically involved destroying his own reputation, but he hoped to bring all of them down with him as well.

    The Hanged Man

Kanata Inori

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_78c2218c302632349371bda705854dbf_dda7070a_640.png

A respectful medical expert who would one day become the Ultimate Surgeon. And after the Die Free or Live Hard Arc, she volunteers to join the Quantum Crew.

  • Florence Nightingale Effect: After treating Nagito for his dementia and cancer, the two begin to spend more time together and eventually fall in love.
  • Grade Skipper: She's far younger than a high schooler as she took most of her classes online. Nagito later reveals that she was admitted into Hope's Peak and is set to be part of Class 78.
  • Happily Adopted: She was adopted by Dr. Hikaru Ando after her birth parents died in an accident. She would later adopt a daughter with Nagito.
  • Happily Married: To Nagito in one of Mikako's visions. The two of them also have an adopted daughter named Miho.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Hanged Man".
  • The Medic: She knows everything there is to performing medical procedures.
  • Odd Friendship: She and Nagito bond quite a bit after treating his cancer. It later blossoms into a romantic relationship.
  • Official Couple: She and Nagito become an item. And in one of Mikako's future visions, they even get married.
  • Older Than She Looks: She's actually one of the oldest members of the Another cast.

Void

A subdivision of the Quantum Crew, consisting of a band of youths with harsh childhoods. Each member was blessed with Divine Luck after a chance meeting with Master Utsuro; now they have decided to help out the Quantum Crew to not only save the world but also to reunite with their miraculous master.

    Justice

Nikei Yomiuri (born Arisaka)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_92276513d3899945d79fe8982a2afd01_f846d43c_500.png

An aspiring journalist with a bit of an ego.

  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Nikei at one point admits he has a habit of developing crushes on kind people, including Akane, Yuki, and even Setsuka.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Although he and Iroha tease each other often, he is very protective of her when push comes to shove.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: During the Puppetmaster Arc, he tries to pass himself off as Kasugano to the angry mob targeting Hope's Peak in the hopes of rescuing his friends. Thankfully, he gets saved by the timely arrival of Ayame and Kiriko.
  • Good Parents: While it's all but stated that he'll be a good father to his future children, Nikei does express worry in the present if he'll be a good enough parent given his skewed morals and bad history with his own parents. Akane assures him that him expressing worry and wanting to do better is proof enough that he will be a good parent.
  • Gun Nut: He has a bit of a problem with pulling his gun out at times.
  • In-Series Nickname: His codename is "Justice."
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: As Emma points out, he can be full of himself and hard on himself at the same time.
  • The Insomniac: He has a bad habit of working when he should be sleeping.
  • Intrepid Reporter: His talents lie in investigative journalism.
  • Kid from the Future: In 2030, he has a son and daughter with Akane.
  • The Leader: Of Void, before relinquishing control to Hajime after they join the Quantum Crew. This trope gets deconstructed when we learn that Nikei sought out to be the leader so he can be in control of things and has difficulty with following others. He does get better with this after talking things out with his friends.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Nikei, along with most of the Quantum Crew, believes that he will be the one to take down Hope's Peak. It's invoked due to Nikei's ability to write captivating news stories; his future article is destined to destroy HP's credibility and be the final nail on the academy's coffin.
  • Rape as Backstory: Much like Kotoko, he was forced into child prostitution by his parents, which eventually drove him to kill them and run away from home. It's left him with a lot of anger and identity issues.
  • Self-Made Orphan: He confesses to the Crew that he killed both of his parents in order to escape their abuse.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Out of all the Crew Members, he struggles the most with this rule. His righteous anger towards a designated enemy often gets the better of him which leads to Nikei voicing the desire to kill whoever they are.
  • Workaholic: To the point where he's been known to work instead of sleep.
Look, 24 hours isn’t nearly enough time for me to work!

    The Priestess

Emma Magorobi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_55f51403e8c615f25c77b8198604cd2f_18db6790_640.png

A fabulous actress who loves a good pun.

  • Abusive Parents: Emma's biological father beat her constantly and would often put out cigarettes on her, leaving her with chronic pain well into her adulthood. She managed to get away once she met her agent, Roger, and he got her into the care of some nicer people.
  • Awesome, Dear Boy: In-Universe, Emma admits to finding fame and fortune overrated and claims that while she enjoys meeting fans, especially kids and helping people in need, she acts because she likes acting.
  • Cool Big Sis: She becomes this for Iroha and Masaru Daimon to the point she's considering getting the latter adopted by her parents.
  • Happily Adopted: She was taken in by a wealthy British couple and couldn't be happier to call them her parents.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Priestess."
  • Intergenerational Friendship: After the two meet in person, she rebuilds her bond with the now-37-year-old Kokoro.
  • Master of Disguise: As a stylish actress, Emma often gives makeovers for her friends to disguise them whenever they go on stealth missions.
  • Off the Wagon: During the Clouds Pass arc, she ends up taking some pain killers in order to cope with everything going on. Maku, Iroha, and Jataro only learn when they find her going through withdrawal.
  • Oh, Crap!: She has a moment like this when she notices that the time traveler who they believe was responsible for Maverick and Kanade's prison escapes is moving towards towards the island resort at a rapid rate.
  • Pungeon Master: Puns are her favorite kind of joke, much to the dismay of Maku.
  • Recovered Addict: While she still struggles with it, Emma is working on managing her drug addiction.
  • Scars Are Forever: Both internally and externally. Her father's abuse left her with burn scars across her arms and muscle and nerve damage that still cause her chronic pain.
  • Self-Harm: She has a history of using opioids to cope with her pain and PTSD. At one point, she even considered overdosing.
  • Trauma Button: She doesn't take the topic of child abuse very lightly as it brings back her own traumatic childhood by the hands of her abusive father.
  • You Are Not Alone: She extends a welcoming hand to Iroha's siblings by assuring them that she knows what it's like to grow up and live under an abusive household and how it's always possible to escape for a better life.

    Strength

Hajime Makunouchi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_52a009dc9ec88be13fd037379cfbac9d_fc38ecbb_500.png

A boxing legend who takes his, and everyone's, health with upmost seriousness.

  • Big Brother Instinct: He comes off as a big brother figure to Iroha and Masaru Daimon.
  • The Big Guy: The muscle of the group and he uses his fists for justice.
  • Birthday Hater: He doesn't like his birthday because it's also the anniversary of when he was diagnosed.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: He's a big boy who eats men twice his size for breakfast, but he has a heart of gold and provides words of wisdom and support for his friends when needed.
  • Chastity Couple: He is strongly against pre-marital sex and warns his friends, especially Iroha, against doing anything intimate due to being underaged.
  • Granola Girl: A gender-flipped example. He loves to work out and sticks to a healthy diet. He also worries about his friends by making sure that they stay healthy too.
  • In-Series Nickname: His codename is "Strength."
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. He shares the same first name with the protagonist Hinata, so most readers use his full name or surname when asking him something. His friends will often use "Maku," an Affectionate Nickname based on his surname, when interacting with him.
  • Only Sane Man: He's easily the most "normal" of the Voids.
  • Punch a Wall: He does this after Kana dies in the hospital.
  • Reformed Criminal: He admits that he used to be part of a street gang and indulged in drugs and alcohol. He was able to get out of that environment and clean up his act.

    The Hermit

Iroha Nijiue

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_3cd1ee020813019453e3b99004e421b4_abac126a_500.png

A talented artist who's a bit of an airhead.

  • All Love Is Unrequited: Played With. She gets a crush on Kasugano early in their missions together, something her friends find odd and point out he could be much older than her. Hajime and Chiaki both consider offering her a place in the Cuddle Puddle, at least until Yoruko points out that it's a bad idea; not only is she almost three years younger than them, but they're essentially treating their relationship as a safety net for everyone dealing with trauma, something that is bound to backfire if they keep it up. As such, they all decide it's best to move on.
    • Ultimately averted when she does get together with Makoto and they prove to be a happy couple.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: The Voids treat her like their little sister due to being the youngest and most "bubble-headed" out of the group. Though Iroha does grow out of this role when she starts to act more mature and becomes a big sister to Jataro.
  • Birds of a Feather: Iroha gets along greatly with Komaru Naegi due to their love of manga.
  • Cool Aunt: In the future, she becomes one to Hajime and Hibiki's daughter.
  • Cool Big Sis: She becomes this to Jataro Kerumi.
  • Dirty Coward: Subverted. She was this in the original timeline, but after Sora confronts her about it, she becomes determined to never go down such a path.
  • Fangirl: She loves all different types of manga and anime. Her favorite being JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
  • Harem Seeker: After she gets together with Makoto, she's quite interested in forming this kind of relationship with him and all his love interests.
  • Kid from the Future: In 2030, she has a son with Makoto named Noriaki. This actually proves to be an important point, as Maverick used the alias "Noriaki Naegi" when tricking Kana into working with him.
  • The Kindnapper: She technically kidnapped Jataro in order to get him away from his mother, but she acts like a big sister to him and gives him all the love he never got.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her codename is "Hermit."
  • Official Couple: She ends up in a relationship with Makoto Naegi.
  • Oh, Crap!: She panics when she realizes that Makoto is in danger due to the fourth time traveler targeting people who were important in the original future.
  • The Redeemer: She actively aspires to be this for Mukuro and other such antagonists.
  • Skewed Priorities: When she learns that the fake name Maverick gave Kana when he tricked her into helping him was Noriaki Naegi, which is what she wants to name her future child, she's mostly focused on the fact that this means that, in at least one timeline, she and Makoto have a child together. Granted, she's also rightly concerned that this means whoever's responsible is also aware of that fact, and they have it out for the group.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Iroha admits that she feels sympathy for Mukuro, as, while she does go on to do horrible things, having Junko as a sister is implied to have messed with her mind and that if she had a support system, Iroha thinks that she could be a better person.
  • Teen Pregnancy: Kyoko reveals that she and Makoto will have their first child when she's 19 years old. It's a topic that's destined to bring about a lot of controversy among her original and Void siblings.
