"Meteor Freak" is the term used to refer to the humans that obtained superpowers through exposure to the Kryptonite meteor rocks that arrived on Earth with Clark. Such meteor infection often results in psychosis, resulting in them becoming the Villain of the Week and spreading terror throughout Smallville and Metropolis.
- Adaptation Origin Connection: Some of the Meteor Freaks are established characters in the comics that have completely different origins, like Plastique and Parasite.
- Karmic Transformation: A lot of them get their powers related to something that they are in contact with or close to during the exposure to the meteors. Like Coach Arnold who got his Playing with Fire powers during a sauna or Desirée Atkins who got her Living Aphrodisiac powers while she was having sex with her boyfriend.
- Magic Meteor: They gained their powers through contact with alien meteors from Krypton.
- Mass Super-Empowering Event: They all gained their powers when the Kryptonite meteor shower of in which Clark first arrived on Earth and at the same time giving many of the locals odd powers and/or altering their personality sometimes and causing them to become the Villain of the Week. There are a few humans empowered by Kryptonian technology, and it's vaguely implied that there's some Kryptonian ancestry among humanity.
- Tragic Villain: While some are shown to have no regret over trying to kill others and a few were already horrible people before gaining powers, it's worth noting that it's implied that gaining their powers altered their personalities and many end up with powers that force them to kill others to survive. And at the end of the day, the majority of the characters are just teenagers forced into horrible situations.
- With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: A lot of the meteor freaks end up going insane and evil, with it being implied that kryptonite causes a psychosis that enhances their worst characteristics.
- Villain of the Week: What the great majority of them end up becoming.
Season 1

A former geek who gained proportionate abilities to insects, using them to attack people. He kidnapped and tried to mate with Lana before being stopped by Clark. In Season 10, he reflects on his life and that of Clark's, declaring to Lois Lane that Clark inspired him to be a better person.
- Animalistic Abilities: Greg has a variety of insect-themed abilities such as Wall Crawling, Projectile Webbing and shedding his skin.
- Continuity Nod: His random reappearance and Heel–Face Turn in Season 10 is a possible reference to a Chloe Chronicles story where some of the bugs from his swarm form are shown to be in the possession of a scientist working on both giving himself powers and finding a cure for meteor freaks (if not for the powers, then at least the kryptonite psychosis).
- Evil Former Friend: He was childhood friends with Clark and Pete, but after his parents' divorce he stopped spending time with them and Clark described their present relationship as "seeing seeing each other in the halls". By Season 10 he's no longer evil, and is grateful that Clark stopped him when he did.

- Heel–Face Return: By Season 10, he has gone through this off-screen and at first Clark is convinced he's planning to get revenge when he starts talking to Lois. - In a Single Bound: He can leap great distances.
- Self-Made Orphan: Greg killed his own mother.

Alicia Baker

A girl with the power to teleport and a serious crush on Clark. She's an antagonist in Season 3, attempting to murder Lana, but returns in Season 4, having reformed. - Psycho Ex-Girlfriend: She becomes way too obsessed with Clark, to the point of attempting to kill Lana and almost raping Clark.
- Reformed, but Rejected: By most of the people in Smallville, mostly due to what she'd done to her father and Lana. But post-mortem, at least Chloe, Lois, and Clark's parents showed remorse for her (especially Chloe, for obvious reasons).
- Shadow Archetype: What if Chloe had all the ability to act on her crush, and none of the restraint?
- Small Role, Big Impact: She revealed Clark's identity to Chloe. Something that changed the way Chloe related to Clark for the rest of the series.
- Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Alicia is reserved or hostile around most people (initially having to keep a distance because of fear of her powers being exposed, and later because she's viewed warily after her stay in a mental hospital) but is quite excitable and warm around Clark, except during a couple Yandere scenes in her first episode.
- Taking the Bullet: Literally does so for Clark to protect his secret.
- Teleportation: She can teleport wherever she wants, as long as she isn't using lead.
- Temporary Love Interest: After reconciling, she becomes Clark's girlfriend until she is killed by Tim Westcott.
- Unexplained Recovery: Overcomes her insanity.
- Weaksauce Weakness: Her teleportation is blocked by lead.
- Yandere: She has an expressive face with kind eyes and a bright smile. In the beginning of the episode, she uses her power to protect Clark's powers, but by the end, she tried to stab Lana to death for her past with Clark. At one point, she gives him Red Kryptonite and nearly rapes him until she changes her mind.
Season 4
Trent MacGowen
- Played by: James Bell
- Bald of Evil: Head-stubble variant.
- Blade Below the Shoulder: One of his preferred attacks.
- Elemental Shapeshifter: Into metal.
- I Just Want to Be Normal: Lionel promises to help him set up a normal life once Chloe is dead.
- Killed Off for Real: Lois electrocutes him and Clark incinerates him with heat vision.
- Professional Killer: Hired by Lionel to kill Chloe.
- Shout-Out: To the T-1000. Down to getting killed off in a foundry!
- Slasher Smile: Does this when strangling Chloe.
Tim Westcott
- Played by: Derek Hamilton
- Dishing Out Dirt: Could convert to sand at will.
- Elemental Shapeshifter: Sand.
- Frameup: Frames Alicia Baker for his murders.
- The Fundamentalist: There is a serious religious undertone to most of what Tim talks about.
- Knight Templar: Believes that all those who have sinned, no matter how small the infraction, must die. To put it in perspective, he tries to kill Lana and Jason for being in a student/teacher relationship.
- He also believed the meteor shower had corrupted Smallville. It's more or less true.
- Super-Strength: He was able to hit Clark across the room.
- You Are What You Hate: Inferred. He has issues with meteor freaks, blaming the meteor shower for bringing an evil to Smallville, yet he himself is one which may have caused him serious issues. However, it's never said directly that he acquired his powers from the meteors.
Dawn Stiles
- Played by: Beatrice Rosen
Overly stereotypical Valley Girl and hot favorite for Prom Queen. Smallville is about to learn that not even death can stand in her way.
- Alpha Bitch: A selfish and insensitive popular girl obsessed with being prom queen.
- Body Surf: Dawn had the power to transfer her conscious to different bodies.
- Catchphrase: "Laters!" and "Genius." Letting our heroes Spot the Impostor.
- Hate Sink: Dawn is obsessed with her own image and popularity above all else and cares nothing for other people.
- Never My Fault: She tries to kill everyone at prom by burning down the school building after discovering they all hated her. That they had very good reasons for doing so never seems to cross her mind.
- Prom Wrecker: When she finds out the rest of the student body hates her, attempts this by Burning down the school during Prom.
- Shout-Out: To Fallen.
Season 5
Maddie Van Horn
- Played by: Emily Hirst
- Cute Mute: At first.
- Enfante Terrible: Subverted. While she can be very destructive, it's her dad who's the real threat.
- Happily Adopted: Not at first, having been shuttled from foster home to foster home. Implied to finally be happy courtesy of her grandmother at the episode's end.
- In the Blood: Maddie is a second-generation meteor freak, inheriting her powers from her father Tyler McKnight.
- If You Kill Him, You Will Be Just Like Him!: She almost killed her father to save everyone else, but Clark talked her out of it.
- Mind over Matter: Glass, specifically.
- Power Incontinence: Has trouble controlling her powers.
- Self-Made Orphan: Believed to have killed her mom. Almost kills her dad, who is also her mother's real murderer.
Tyler McKnight
- Played by: Callum Keith Rennie
- Alternate Self: Has one on Earth-Prime as Jon Valor.
- Ax-Crazy: Tyler isn't so much evil as he is very badly unhinged.
- In the Blood: Passed on his glass-breaking powers to his daughter Maddie.
- Mind over Matter: Specifically, glass and, oddly, diamond.
Graham Garrett
- Played by: Alexander Scarlis
A rich boy with humble beginnings, there's more to Graham Garret than meets the eye—for good reason.
- I Owe You My Life: Towards Clark.
- Killed Off for Real: By Lex.
- Shadow Archetype: There's a lot of Bruce Wayne in him—wealth and power, dubious connections, a talent for not being seen...
- Smug Super: Seriously underestimates Lex's ability to find him.
- Visible Invisibility: There's a distortion when he first disappears, but after that he's completely invisible, save when he bumps into something.
Season 6
Duncan Allenmeyer
- Played by: Bryce Hodgson
- Anti-Villain: Type II. His victims really had it coming. Alden was thoroughly unrepentant and seemed to get a sick thrill from it, only wishing Duncan was there for further torment.
- Astral Projection: Lois brings up the possibility upon seeing Duncan's brain activity, and the EMP arrow actually reveals a Duncan present at the scene of the crime.
- Bully Hunter: When he came back.
- Create Your Own Villain: Lex, Oliver, and their friends made him who he was.
- Evil Cripple: He was in a coma.
- Forgotten Childhood Friend: To Lex.
- Killed Off for Real: When one of Oliver's EMP arrows accidentally fries his brain.
- Mind over Matter: A standard case of moving things around, with the added twist that Duncan can astral-project himself for miles to see what he's doing. And he can somehow do really complex things like unlock Oliver's Wall of Weapons.
- This Was His True Form: Invoked - the astral projection of Duncan appears as he did before the accident (likely from the reuse of that footage).
Bronson
- Played by: Elias Toufexis
- Anti-Villain: Type III. All he wants to do is expose Lex and end the experimentation at 33.1.
- Jumping Off the Slippery Slope: Loses it when Lionel moves 33.1; he then attempts to kill Lex and Lana.
- Killed Off for Real: By Lex.
- You Look Familiar: His actor would go on to play Warp in Season 10.
Linda Lake
- Played by: Tori Spelling
- Alliterative Name: Linda Lake.
- Asshole Victim: So much so that it's difficult to judge Davis too harshly for killing her.
- Bullying a Dragon: What ultimately brings her down.
- Elemental Shapeshifter: Into water.
- Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: She seems to enjoy ruining people's lives; that or she doesn't give a damn about anyone but herself and her career. It honestly baffles her that Chloe wouldn't jump on the opportunity to reveal what she knew about Clark.
- Evil Counterpart: Played as Lois', especially in her second appearance.
- For the Evulz: At least some of her actions are simply because she's a sadist who enjoys inflicting pain. She certainly seems to enjoy all of her misdeeds, though.
- Hoist by Her Own Petard: Tries to manipulate Davis into transforming and freeing her. Instead he turns and kills her.
- It's All About Me: She doesn't care about a single thing except for herself and is perfectly willing to destroy anyone's life for her own benefit.
- Killed Off for Real: By Davis in Season 8.
- Kryptonite Factor: Electric shocks force her back into human form.
- Meaningful Name / Punny Name: Linda Lake got her powers after her news van crashed into a lake in Smallville during the 2005 meteor shower.
- Too Dumb to Live: Trying to manipulate an obviously unstable man with an obscenely powerful alter ego into doing your bidding isn't a good idea, to say the least.
Tobias Rice
- Played by: Greyston Holt
- Alternate Self: Has one on Earth-Prime as a regular human named Tyler.
- Aura Vision: Sees normal people as red figures and meteor freaks as blue figures in a manner similar to infrared imaging.
- Blind Seer: Granted the ability to detect meteor freaks after being blinded.
- Disability Superpower: See above.
- Irony: Since he can only detect kryptonite derived powers, he thinks Clark is the most ordinary person around.
- Only Sane Man: One of the very few meteor freaks who hasn't gone crazy and/or homicidal. Although he really isn't in any condition to harm anyone, unless you count...
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Tricked into handing Chloe to Lex's secret lab where she is experimented on and painfully humiliated, and later almost killed.
Daniel Kim
- Played by: Anthony Shim
- Alternate Self: Has one on Earth-Prime as an unnamed police officer.
- Mind over Matter
- Only Sane Man: Exceedingly rare as he appears in the same episode with Tobias, making two sane meteor freaks in one episode.Three if counting Chloe. But then, Lex doesn't give him much time until his minions catch up with him in a "car accident." This may have something to do with this episode being directed by Michael Rosenbaum, who always wanted Lex to be evil. Naturally, he would have to make meteor freaks more sympathetic to make Lex look bad. Also, it seems meteor freaks in general have becomes less psychotic after this episode.
Lowell Wilson
- Played by: Juan Riedinger
Davidson
- Played by: Richard Stroh
- Alternate Self: Has two on Earth-Prime as an unnamed security guard and an unnamed viking.
- Ax-Crazy: At least, according to Lex.
- Blow You Away: Being an extremely minor character, it is unclear but he appears to restrain Lana with air currents.
Moira Sullivan
- Played by: Lindsay Bourne, Lynda Carter
- Alternate Self: Has one on Earth-Prime, a former POTUS. Also has one on Earth-76 as Wonder Woman.
- Fate Worse than Death: Completely catatonic.
- Mama Bear: Very protective of Chloe.
- Mind Control: Could control any meteor freak, including her own daughter Chloe.
- Power Incontinence: Most ironic indeed.
Wes Keenan
- Played by: Tahmoh Penikett
Also known as Ares, model Mark IV. The first synthesized meteor freak created by Lex Luthor's team.
- All Your Powers Combined: As mentioned by Lex.
- Alternate Self: Has one on Earth-Prime as a criminal named Nick Salvati.
- Barrier Warrior: Chloe mentions it took an equivalent of a mini-nuke to break the force field of an earlier prototype. Clark defeats him with a particularly vicious blast of heat vision.
- Died in Your Arms Tonight: He dies in Lois' arms.
- Dying as Yourself:
- Fighting from the Inside: With limited success.
- Invisibility: Both for himself and people he needs to be.
- My Country, Right or Wrong: But when Lex is involved, it is too much.
- Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Ares is the War God from Greek Mythology.
- Super-Speed: Taken from The Flash.
- You Look Familiar: Penikett had played a fairly minor character seasons earlier, who had died. Twice.
Season 7
Tempest Drake
- Played by: Christine Chatelain
- Blow You Away: Her power.
- Meaningful Name: A tempest is a tornado.
Carly Meadows
- Played by: Elisa King
- Killed Off for Real: Killed by Tyler after she decides to steal the treasure of Smallville for herself.
- Playing with Fire: Her superpower is heat and fire manipulation.
Tyler Crenshaw
- Played by: Eva Marcille
Season 8
Mary Pierson
- Played by: Julia Maxwell
- Genre Blindness: A lone girl walks at night in the streets of Metropolis. And down a dark alley.
- Mundane Utility: Uses her powers to turn lights on.
Randy Klein
- Played by: Tyler Johnston
- Living Shadow: His power is a shadow form that can glide through the air and move through solid objects.
- The Sociopath: Bad even for meteor freak standards. He kills (or at least tries to) just to get famous.
Leslie Willis/Livewire
- Played by: Anna Mae Routledge
- Alternate Self: Has one on Earth-Prime.
- Psycho Electro: Averted, as she has her old counterparts electrical powers but is far less ruthless and unstable.
- Resignations Not Accepted: She tries to quit the squad, only for Parasite to take her powers, after which she's killed.
Rudy Jones/Parasite
- Played by: Brendan Fletcher
- Adaptational Badass: A mild version. He doesn't need skin contact to absorb powers and it is done in a second. He could also give them back and keep them longer.
- Alternate Self: Had one on Earth-1 before Crisis as Stanley Dover, and has two on Earth-Prime as himself and Thaddeus Killgrave.
Neutron
- Played by: Jae Lee
