Old Magnificent Bastard thread

Welcome to the Magnificent Bastard proposal thread! This is the thread where new Magnificent Bastard examples are vetted, approved, and written up. If you're looking for the general cleanup thread (for cuts, rewrites, expansions, and the like), please go here

Important: Before suggesting any new examples, please read the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List; if you have any questions, the odds are high they are answered there. Additionally, please check here for the earliest date a work can be discussed (usually two weeks from the U.S. release date) and whether the work has already been reserved by another user.

Here is how the process works:

    Process

  1. If you have a candidate to propose, you can simply come right in and propose them! If the character's run is brief, such as a single issue of a comic book, then a simple summary of their actions and any potential mitigating features will be enough; for longer-running candidates, an effortpost (EP) might be helpful for organizing the proposal. An EP is not outright required, but please be mindful that if a post becomes too clunky and unorganized, it can be very hard for other people to follow.

  2. After the proposal, there will be a 72-hour discussion and voting period, where people may ask questions and vote on the candidate. The number of upvotes must outnumber the downvotes by at least five for the character to be considered "approved".

  3. Three days after the proposal has been made, if the character has been approved, you may post the writeup (the text to be posted on the trope page itself) on the thread and send it to the drafts page. Your candidate will soon be added to the MB subpage. If the work has a page, you should add your candidate to the relevant YMMV page. Voila! It's that simple!

Outside of this process, we do have a few ground rules:

    Ground Rules

  1. To keep the thread moving at a reasonable pace, there are some restrictions on when a proposal can be made. There should only be a maximum of four EPs posted both per page and per hour to ensure that nothing gets lost in the shuffle; additionally, each individual troper should only be proposing or writing up characters from a maximum of three works at a time (from initial proposals to end of their voting period). If your proposal would fall outside of either of these guidelines, we'd like to ask you to please wait until they would fit within; feel free to type them up on an outside document, and then when the time comes, you can just copy, paste, and post!

  2. No plagiarism of any kind. This is a very serious matter site-wide, as the website could get in actual legal trouble over this; as a result, this can very quickly lead to mod intervention. This can take many different forms:
    1. Direct plagiarism, i.e. wholesale copying. This is not only the easiest to find, but is also the most likely to warrant quick moderator intervention. To be clear, quoting in some places is perfectly acceptable, but it has to be very clear you're quoting from something else and it cannot be anything longer than a sentence or two - if you're quoting an entire work summary from Wikipedia, no one is going to believe you've actually consumed the work, so even if you cite your source, your candidate will be downvoted anyway.
    2. Self-plagiarism. Even if you can prove that you wrote the same text in both places, the site itself can't contain any of the duplicated text. If you already wrote something once before, it's not too hard to write it a second time.
    3. Using another site's work as a template for a proposal. Just because you don't copy and paste something directly doesn't mean it's any harder to detect if you're basing parts or all of your proposal on text someone else wrote. To be clear, this doesn't violate site rules and won't lead to mod intervention, but just like if you directly plagiarize, no one will believe you've consumed the work if you're clearly basing your proposal on something else. This thread largely operates on the honor system, and tweaking someone else's work to pass it off as your own is one of the fastest ways to lose trust.

  3. Votes must be for specific candidates, meaning no blanket voting (i.e. "yes to everyone I missed").

  4. If you are the first person to downvote a candidate, please provide an explanation of why when you do so. We're here for discussions above all, and a hit-and-run downvote doesn't facilitate anything.

  5. If a work is already reserved by another user, please don't comment on the work or any potential characters worth discussion before the discussion date. We know how exciting it is when a work has a keeper that you're waiting to talk about, but it's not fair to the person who reserved the work who is just as excited to lead the discussion to see the discussion getting spoiled before they get to do it. On the other hand, if the reservation only has one name attached, shoot them a PM - they may be down for a collaboration, which will get you in on the fun as well!

  6. Please keep the thread on-topic. While discussing the trope is fun and we encourage people to enjoy it, questions like "who's your favorite MB" are off-topic and can lead to thumps. That's the kind of question to take to people's PMs if they're willing. Similarly, while we encourage friendliness and familiarity with other users, posts should always have some kind of thread-relevant purpose; for instance, if you want to wish someone a happy birthday, feel free to, but if it's the only thing in the post, it's off-topic and needs something else alongside it. Again, though, while we strive for a friendly atmosphere, this is not Facebook; life updates are fun, but unless they have some kind of impact on your thread participation, please do not bring it here - we have Yack Fest for that.

  7. Please refrain from asking anything along the lines of "How Did We Miss This One?" In almost every case, the answer is simply "No one thought about it before". This Is a Wiki where everyone has different interests, and the fact that people missed a particular candidate, even one that seems like a textbook example of a trope or a character who is particularly iconic in pop culture, means absolutely nothing. The question is disruptive, has a simple and consistent answer, and provides nothing to any discussion.

  8. If you are suspended from other parts of the website, it is still possible to participate!
    1. For users who are suspended from editing the wiki, you still have full access to this thread. You can propose candidates and write them up with no issues whatsoever; while you will have to ask someone else to post the entry to the relevant pages once it is done, all write-ups are considered thread-approved - as in, done by consensus - and thus doing so does not violate any rules regarding meatpuppeting.
    2. If you are suspended from the forums, your participation is limited but not impossible. It is still possible for a forum-suspended user to assist in creating the write-up for a character who has already been approved; as previously mentioned, write-ups are inherently considered a consensus-based edit and thus not tied to any one particular user. However, you can not assist in the proposal of a character; as a proposal is based around the forum rather than the wiki, doing so with a forum suspension qualifies as meatpuppeting.

  9. Please keep all discussions "in-house".
    1. What other wikis use for MB equivalents is irrelevant here.
    2. Please be wary of using other wikis, Fandom or otherwise, as sources of information. They are just as fallible as a site like Wikipedia in regards to accuracy because they can be edited by any user, just as this site can.
    3. Do not attempt to force a communication with an author in an attempt to gather evidence or settle a debate; besides the fact that this is a YMMV trope and thus author intent has variable weight depending on the circumstance, doing so may cross the line into drama exportation, which is prohibited site-wide.

If you would like to use an EP for your candidate, here's the general format. This format does not have to be followed exactly, but these are the main topics that need to be covered:

    Effortpost Template

What is the work?

This is a brief summary of the work you're going to discuss. We don't need a full plot summary here, just however much we need to understand going into the discussion — it can even be as simple as quoting the summary on the work's page.

Who is the candidate and what have they done?

This is essentially the character's biography — who they are, their story, their goals and methodology, and, preferably (though not required), what happens to the candidate at the end. It does not have to include every single thing they ever do — for some characters, we'd be here all day if that was the case — but it should include the highlights of their journey.

How are they Magnificent?

This is the point where you highlight the character's brilliance. How to they convey their intelligence and charm to the audience? What makes them stand out among the crowd? What are their goals and how do they go about accomplishing them? This part welcomes a lot of creative thinking — not everyone has to be a Machiavellian Diabolical Mastermind to be worth considering here! This is also the time to showcase how the character can think on their feet if it's necessary.

How are they a Bastard? How are they not too bad?

What kinds of moral lines is this character willing to cross for the sake of their goal? Are they willing to let innocents die? Start wars? Commit crimes? The character has to show some kind of unscrupulousness in order to count as a "Bastard". Notably, this character does not necessarily have to be the villain, and an Anti-Hero can cross the line if they're immoral enough, but they have to be immoral somehow.

This is also the section where you then state your case for why they're not too bad. Perhaps their good intentions help mitigate their crimes. Perhaps others are shown to be much worse than them. Perhaps they're prone to Pet the Dog moments or are even fighting on behalf of loved ones. Whatever the case, there are certain lines that an MB can't cross, but as long as their villainy is reasonable for their goal, they can be considered.

Final verdict?

This is where you post your final conclusion on the character in question. You can continue elaborating on your reasons or even just say a simple "yes" or "no"; at this point, we've heard everything we need to hear.

And that's everything you need to know. Welcome to the thread!

[tup] to Beatrice and Dr. Doom

Alright, lemme bring up a candidate that I’m pretty sure nobody has ever thought about… mostly because he’s from a pair of games that nobody really likes.

What's the Work?

Paper Mario: Sticker Star and Paper Mario: Color Splash are the fourth and fifth entries in the Paper Mario RPG series, respectively. They focus on Mario as he tries to rescue Princess Peach from a superpowered and/or demonically-possessed Bowser. No really, that's it.

These two games are notorious among the Paper Mario fanbase for their controversial gameplay, paper-thin stories, and shallow characters. However, a few characters stand out, such as…

Who is the Host Snifit? What Has He Done?

Sticker Star

"It's time to play… SNIFIT OR… WHIFFIT!"

The Host Snifit is the Affably Evil head of Snifit or Whiffit, a Sadistic Game Show that rewards successful contestants with priceless items and punishes losers with death by poison gas.

The Snifit is introduced when Mario, on the hunt for Wiggler's missing body segments, jumps into a very suspicious-looking hole. At the bottom of the hole, he's greeted by a crowd of cheering Snifits (for those who don’t know, they're the Shy Guy-looking things with metal masks that can shoot bullets) and their leader, the charismatic Host Snifit, who reveals this week's prize on Snifit or Whiffit: a piece of Wiggler's body! The Host Snifit offers Mario a chance to play and win the Wiggler segment, but warns him that he may not survive. Of course, Mario accepts.

The host puts Mario through three minigames, each more challenging than the last. The first: a Banjo-Kazooie-style quiz that tests the player's knowledge of both the game and the Mario franchise in general. The second: a game of whack-a-mole where Mario must smack a bunch of "unpaid Snifit interns". The third: a shell game where Mario must choose the correct block after watching them shuffled around. The kicker? All of these challenges see the room slowly be filled with Technicolor Toxin that drains Mario's HP, and failure will result in any of the phases will result in him being forced into battle against enemies, further depleting his HP. After all, as the Host Snifit himself admits, he works for Bowser and therefore must treat Mario as an enemy.

However, once Mario beats these three challenges, the Host Snifit will gladly set him the Wiggler segment free… or, Mario can continue playing for a bonus round with an even bigger prize. Mario, being the gambling addict that he is (it must run in the family), accepts and is thrown into the final challenge: he must once again hammer those unpaid Snifit interns and answer questions whenever he does so, all while the room once again fills with poison gas. Upon winning, the Host Snifit eagerly congratulates Mario and awards him with the Radiator Thing, which becomes useful in a later level.

Color Splash

"Let's get ready to play… Snifit or… Whiffit!"

The Host Snifit returns, now running Snifit or Whiffit: Seabed Edition Under the Sea surrounding Port Prisma. When Mario and Huey arrive, the Host Snifit welcomes him back and offers him a Mini Paint Star as a reward for playing a memory game where he must guess the correct cards using his own (fully-painted) set.

However, two rounds in, the Host Snifit reveals that every time Mario fails a question, an enormous, spiked Urchin will sink closer to him until it pops his air bubble, resulting in an instant game-over. The Snifit offers one last chance for the plumber to back out, but of course, Mario trudges on. Upon winning, Mario gains the Paint Star, yet the Host Snifit once again offers a bonus, All or Nothing round where Mario can win a big prize or lose all of his progress (and his life). Mario wins, and the Snifit grants him the Instant Camera Thing.

Is He Magnificent?

Yeah, absolutely. He’s friendly and charming as all hell, and his entire game show is a foolproof scheme where he wins no matter what. Mario refuses to participate? Good, now he’ll never get the Wiggler segment or the Paint Star! Mario accepts, but fails and dies? Good, Bowser and Kamek will be pleased to hear! Mario wins? Good, he’s just gotten a special episode and a huge boost in ratings! It certainly helps that the Host Snifit is a Noble Demon who is very up-front about how deadly his game show is and gives Mario the chance to leave at the outset.

Is He a Bastard? Too much?

Yeah, as friendly as he is, he’s still a bastard. He openly works for Bowser and is willing to murder Mario during Snifit or Whiffit. He keeps a piece of Wiggler's body as a hostage in Sticker Star and hogs a Paint Star in Color Splash, thus keeping a piece of the world drained of color.

As for too much? Nah, not even close. This is the same series home to at least three Omnicidal Maniacs in the forms of the Shadow Queen, Dimentio, and even Count Bleck, as well a genocidal Evil Overlord with King Olly. Really, the worst thing about him aside from trying to kill Mario is that he doesn’t pay his interns and forces them to be used as props for Snifit or Whiffit, which is completely Played for Laughs and has no serious consequences.

Verdict?

I’m thinking [tup]. He’s a minor character in the grand scheme of things, but he leaves one hell of an impression in both of his appearances.

Made the entry for GRP-002-A. How does it look?

  • RPC Authority: Cosmic Embers Alternate Continuity: GRP-002-A is a god-like entity who existed only for a fraction of a second at the beginning of the universe. In that short time, however, he predicted everything that would happen in the universe, and so formulated a plan to achieve "rebirth". Creating some orbs who allow others—or rather, perfect copies of them—to go back in time to the moment he was still alive, GRP-002-A granted wishes to those he encountered to further reach his goals, mainly doing this with the Karza and the GRPC. While GRP-002-A is willing to harm innocents to obtain what he wants, he's also able to do good and overall demonstrates to be genuinely affable when interacting with others.

Updated Raditz's entry (it's in the draft):

  • Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
    • Fateful Brothers: Raditz here is far more honorable than his canon counterpart. Initially amnesiac after a fight against Piccolo, his brotherhood with Goku instills him with honor. Despite attacking Earth to recover his identity as a planet conqueror, Raditz spares his enemies and shows genuine respect to them upon his defeat. As a final act of love for his brother, he collides his space pod with the with the arriving Vegeta and Nappa, taking them down with him.

[tup] the host.

What's the work?

The Doom Patrol are probably the weirdest superhero team in existence, regularly dealing with threats ranging from a Punisher expy who hunts beards instead of criminals to a villain literally named Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man.

I decided to look at perhaps one of their most famous foes.

Who is Mr. Nobody?

Formerly Eric Morden, a wannabe supervillain who fought the Doom Patrol to join their arch-enemies, the Brotherhood of Evil. Morden failed and fled to Paraguay, taking up residence with a Nazi war criminal who convinced Morden to partake in experiments. Said experiments gave him reality warping powers... while turning him into an abstract shadow and driving him irreparably insane. Reborn as Mr. Nobody, he killed the Nazis and began planning to bring his unique outlook to the rest of the world.

Mr. Nobody is nonsense and surrealism incarnate; when confronted by police, his response is to throw a chicken at them and proclaim this means he has now taken over the world. However, he's much smarter than he acts. Though it's masked by the complete lunacy that is his very existence, Mr. Nobody always has a plan in mind, and happily adapts to whatever chaos is thrown his way.

He's appeared in four major arcs—three in Post-Crisis, one in Rebirth. The latter is technically a new continuity, but it considers the previous history of the Doom Patrol as canon, so I'll still go over it just to cover my bases.

    Vol 2 issues 22- 29
  • Mr. Nobody begins planning his public debut by assembling several other bizarre supervillains to form the Brotherhood of Dada. And bizarre they are.
Look at us! Are we not final proof that there is no good, no evil, no truth, no reason? Are we not proof that the universe is a drooling idiot with no fashion sense? From this day forth we will celebrate the total absurdity of life, the gigantic hocus-pocus of existence. From this day on, let unreason reign!
  • His plan is quite simple. After stealing a magic painting, the Brotherhood activate it by reciting poetry, empowering the painting to absorb Paris—along with themselves. Within the painting, the Brotherhood become the unrivaled weird gods of reality and plan to drag the entire planet into their new world, and when the Doom Patrol try to stop them, Mr. Nobody's minions use their surreal powers to easily defeat them.
  • Unfortunately, the painting contains the Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse, whom the Brotherhood accidentally wake. The Brotherhood free the Doom Patrol to stop him, and Crazy Jane of the latter tries to ride the Horseman. Mr. Nobody rallies the others to use the power of friendship to strengthen her willpower over the creature, then direct it towards the area controlled by Dada—their nihilism erodes the iconography and meaning empowering it until it's just a toy rocking horse.
My god! What a fabulous mind I possess! I know how to destroy the Horseman and make it feel stupid at the same time... It's so embarrassing it has to work!
  • The Doom Patrol debate what to do with the Brotherhood as the painted world begins collapsing ("So we stole a painting. So we turned a policeman into a toilet. Worse things happen every day in El Salvador.") Mr. Nobody makes a big speech about how he's going down with his ship, followed in quick succession by the Brotherhood declaring their loyalty to him... only for Mr. Nobody to tell them he was just saying that, he doesn't actually want to get stuck. Unfortunately, he's too preoccupied explaining this to notice the Doom Patrol escape, and the Brotherhood are trapped.

    Vol 2 issues 46- 52
  • Growing bored in the painting, Mr. Nobody psychically recruits a new Brotherhood of Dada, while influencing the villain Doctor Silence into buying the painting. Silence becomes engrossed with a smudge in the art—actually Mr. Nobody—and his obsession empowers Mr. Nobody to tear free from the painting and kill Silence.
  • His new plan is even simpler then the last. Stealing the bicycle of Albert Hofmann (inventor of LSD), Mr. Nobody uses its psychedelic abilities to spread madness wherever he peddles—or drives, after the Brotherhood transfers its powers to a van. The Doom Patrol confront him again, and the hallucinations he's caused begin manifesting in reality. Mr. Nobody uses one woman's manifested anxieties to defeat Robotman, only to then turn around and help her overcome her problems.
  • Mr. Nobody then begins his most dastardly scheme yet: running for president. One member of the Brotherhood has the ability to dull people's surprise, allowing them to easily enter TV stations, hijack broadcasts, and spread Mr. Nobody's message with no one noticing anything out of the ordinary. Additionally, as part of his campaign, he declares every day to be Christmas, handing out presents to kids—when a store manager tries to stop him, Mr. Nobody cheerfully remarks that he's created an inherent distrust and hatred of authority in all the now upset kids before skedaddling.
  • And weirdly, it begins working. The LSD combined with general discontent with politicians and capitalism makes Mr. Nobody an immediate darkhorse candidate. Even the Doom Patrol come around to his nihilistic view. It's not quite enough to get him into office... but that wasn't ever the true plan. Mr. Nobody just wanted to drum up enough support that he could then ask his loyal fans to use the power of belief to will reality to once more merge with the magic painting, where weirdness reigns and the oppression is dead.
  • The government isn't exactly happy with all this. They unleash their own superpowered freak, who kills the rest of the Brotherhood and temporarily turns Mr. Nobody back into Morden. Morden's restored sanity keeps him off balance long enough for him to be stabbed in his now mortal form—a sympathetic Robotman tries to save him by bringing him back to the painting, but the police light it on fire, leaving Mr. Nobody to sadly bid adieu as he crumbles to dust.

    Vol 5
  • Just kidding! He's back and better then ever... with a new outlook, restyling himself "Mr. Somebody" and embracing capitalism—a commentary on how some left-wing movements sell out. He possesses billionaire/former Doom Patrol ally Thayer Jost, setting out to establish total control over the superpowered-populace.
  • A much darker villain than before, Mr. Somebody funds a crazy insect lady and provides her with homeless people to experiment on, while threatening to sic waves of law enforcement on the aforementioned Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man if he doesn't join his "Front Men". Along the way, he crushes the skull of the Toy, last surviving member of the Brotherhood of Dada, to fully sever ties with his past; reduces Jost to a drooling, traumatized mess whom he keeps on a leash later on; starts an interdimensional gentrification company that reduces longtime Doom Patrol ally Danny the Street to a single brick; and plans to kidnap and/or kill Beast Boy, adopted son of Elasti-Girl, to provoke the Doom Patrol for his schemes below.
  • Mr. Somebody sends one of the Front Men to assassinate the leader of the Doom Patrol, Niles Caulder. This fails, but they still manage to teleport Elasti-Girl to Mr. Somebody's headquarters, which he uses to frame the Doom Patrol for attacking him. From there, the Front Men can either attack the Doom Patrol to rescue their captured member, or the Doom Patrol will attack the Front Men to save Elasti-Girl, which Mr. Somebody can twist into them being reckless villains who cause massive amounts of property damage. Either way, his media connections ensure he comes out looking like the good guy.
  • The latter ends up happening, as Mr. Somebody calls in reporters to cover the ensuing fight. He gets Caulder to order the Doom Patrol to retreat by threatening to kill his own minions, whose suits have been modified to kill their wearers in ways that will make it look like the Doom Patrol did the deed. In the aftermath, "Jost" and his stance of controlling dangerous metahumans is given more support than ever.
  • After shenanigans, the Doom Patrol get kicked off their home—an island haven for mad scientists run by Wonder Woman rogue Veronica Cale, who has had enough of their bullshit. She calls in Mr. Somebody to replace them as her muscle... only for Mr. Somebody to possess her instead, turning the island's projects to his capitalist interests. The Doom Patrol sneak back onto the island and are confronted by the full might of Mr. Somebody's unstoppable corporate power...
  • ...And then Ambush Bug pops up to tell him that A) Flashpoint is about to reboot the universe and B) their comic is being canceled. Since there's no point to continuing the fight, Mr. Somebody leaves—while taking Caulder as his new host, just because.

    Vol 6 (Rebirth
  • Growing bored of being somebody, Mr. Nobody returns to his old self and assembles the Brotherhood of Nada, an alliance of villains who have nothing in common—not even goals or motives. Naturally, this falls apart pretty much immediately, but they're only window dressing to his true plan. With the help of his "daughter", Terry None, Mr. Nobody begins selling healthy, incredibly tasty "$#!+". After enough people consume it, he has Terry tap dance to activate the substance, which begins breaking down reality and rebooting the universe. As explained to one teenage recruit: "No rules! No parents! No classical music!"
  • Also: there's an interdimensional organization called Retconn seeking to provide endless entertainment for destroyer gods, distracting them from doing their apocalyptic jobs. The Doom Patrol and Brotherhood end up in their headquarters after breaking reality, and Retconn offers to give Mr. Nobody omnipotence if he provides entertainment to these gods—dragging Terry along for the ride, since she can't exist without him.
Hmmmm... with the ability to make anything up, I could really subvert television programming like I've always wanted to while at the same time living in an empty white room drinking free diet cola. We're in!
  • Plus, he doesn't want the world to end—sure, he just did that, but in order to restart everything in his insane vision. He doesn't want things to end permanently.
That's some supervillain hokum and I have evolved past that.

Is he magnificent?

Mr. Nobody is weird and insane AF, but that does nothing to prevent him from being effective. He's especially good at finding and recruiting new members, whose powers are always perfect matches for whatever the Doom Patrol throws in his path.

He runs the full gambit of villainy: weird Villain of the Week in his first arc, well-intentioned Anti-Villain with a tragic death during his presidential campaign, Knight of Cerebus Big Bad as Mr. Somebody, to going back to utter bizarreness in Rebirth. And he's always a clever, hilarious delight, even as a corporate sellout—it's simultaneously a complete 180 of his previous depictions and totally in-character. He's insane; what did you expect him to do, not have a stint as the antithesis of everything he represents? Even the finale is just a big reminder that he's as much of a meta weirdo as always, and he's right back to being his normal goofy self when next we meet him.

Is he a bastard?

Though he sees his insanity as freeing people from the constraints of monotony, it's still a lot of chaos that occassionaly culminates in trying to end reality, and he'll still casually murder guys like Dr. Silence just because. His stint as Mr. Somebody dials up his cruelty a lot—his treatment of Jost is especially bad, but that's mostly a background thing that's only in focus up to three or so times throughout the entire run (pretty sure Jost doesn't even get any lines). I don't think there's enough emphasis on that to be too concerning, and his overall new attitude is still not the worst compared to DC's usual fare of extreme villainy—plus he returns to his old self pretty quickly. It's nothing too mitigating, imo.

Verdict?

Hell yes.

  • Heihachi Mishima, the King of Iron Fist himself, is one of the strongest and most successful corrupt businessmen in all fighting games. Turning to evil after being forced to kill his wife, Heihachi stole the Mishima Zaibatsu from his father by imprisoning him and would go on to throw his own son off a cliff to see if he inherited his mother's Devil Gene, beginning a feud that would last decades. Making the Zaibatsu an N.G.O. Superpower, Heihachi would constantly crave more power. When Kazuya defeated him, Heihachi trained himself to be even stronger to take revenge and take back the Zaibatsu - dropping Kazuya into a volcano just to be sure he was dead. Years later Heihachi would manipulate his grandson's desire to avenge his mother to draw out Ogre, and after Jin killed the "God of Fighting" Heihachi shot his grandson in the head. Desiring the bodies of his son and grandson to utilise their Devil's Blood in conjunction with Ogre's corpse to make himself invincible. Continuing his schemes and feuding and escaping death through sheer strength of will, Heihachi finally meets his end when challenging his son to one last fight, sharing his story with a reporter beforehand and facing his death with dignity.

  • Jin Kazama, son of Jun Kazama and Kazuya Mishima and debuting in Tekken 3, is about as selfless and ruthless as a hero can be. Avenging his mother's apparent death at the hands of Ogre, Jin is betrayed by his grandfather, Heihachi, thereafter swearing to destroy the Mishima Bloodline along with his one Devil's Blood. Eventually taking control of the Mishima Zaibatsu, Jin would trigger World War III with the intent of reviving Azazel so that he can kill it and himself; while Jin survives Azazel's body is destroyed. Awakening in Tekken 8, Jin goes on a classic Hero's Journey and finally redeems himself, accepting his own life's worth and the love of friends along with finally putting an end to Kazuya's evil plans.

  • Nina Williams is a Consummate Professional assassin, treating every job with the same cold stoicism. Trained by her parents, Nina is one of the most deadly women in the world, catching the eye of Jin while he ran the Zaibatsu. Sending her on missions to destabilise regimes worldwide, Nina was instrumental in Jin's plans to send the world into chaos, even earning some of Nina's respect. She eventually turns on Jin when Heihachi takes the Zaibatsu back, though it's not personal as far as she's concerned. She eventually finds her way into Kazuya's employ as his Number Two, coordinating his troops during The War Sequence and even recruiting Tournament participants, predicting they'd be an asset. Even then, Nina is not heartless - she refuses to kill her biological son, Steve Fox, despite claiming she feels nothing for him.

  • Armor King II, debuting in Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection, is a mysterious Jaguar Masked wrestler claiming to be the long lost brother and tag team partner of the original Armor King. Seeking revenge on Marduk for Armor King I's death, the second Armor King ambushes Marduk on several occasions, utilising classic wrestling heel techniques. He is also not without honour; during Tekken 6's Scenario Campaign Armor King II is found freeing test subjects from G Corporation, hoping to expose it and Kazuya's evil to the world.

  • Kunimitsu Character Trailer youtube.com/watch?v=bxof9Kj6mN4: Kunimitsu II, daughter of the original Kunimitsu, puts in a fine showing in her non-canon character trailer. Easily defeating Master Raven, Kunimitsu II uses her to lure Yoshimitsu to her. With a variety of stylish and subversive techniques, she defeats Yoshimitsu before taking off her mask and revealing her true identity. Absconding with the cursed sword Yoshimitsu, Kunimitsu II surpasses her mother by stealing the one treasure that eluded her.

I'll add these to the sandbox soon. I gotta guzzy them up a bit as well. Also, I think the order should be:

Kazuya

Heihachi

Lee

Jin

Reina

Nina

Armor King II

Kunimitsu II

With the first five being in a Mishima tree. What say you all?

Oh. Also, I'm still playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It's long, and I have work and my personal life, so discussion on it will probably be late. Still, I am making my way through it and will finish it I assure you all. I'm also taking a break from the threads to focus on the stuff I have to do.

Also, before absconding, I'll look back at any posts I missed. EDIT: Sure to Host Snifit and Mr Nobody.

Hey everyone! Been a minute huh? Do any of you remember me? If not that's fine, not like I made much of a mark lmao. Regardless I got myself a song candidate who I think has a decent chance at qualifying. So let's not waste anymore time huh? Let's get into it!

What is the Work?

"Labyrinth" is a song created by CG5 centered around its sixth entry, Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator and more specifically its true ending. The song follows a similar plot to the original game, Henry, wanting to put an end to all the tragedy that he unwillingly helped create, set up a labyrinth disguised as a new Freddy Fazbear's Pizza location, hiring a seemingly unknowing volunteer, he has them lure Afton, Elizabeth as well as the other remaining souls before trapping them all inside the building and burning it to the ground, putting an end to Afton's legacy once and for all, at least, as far as we know.

Who Is Henry Emily? What Has He Done?

Henry Emily, serving as the Big Good of the song just as he did in the original game, was the former partner of the ever infamous child murderer William Afton. After realizing what he had done and all the tragedy he incidentally helped cause, Henry puts together an elaborate scheme to burn Afton and the rest of Freddy Fazbear's to the ground. Creating a prison disguised as a new Freddy Fazbear's restaurant, he has his volunteer lure all the major souls still left without rest into the building before burning it all to the ground. Revealing this all in a dramatic monologue seen in the song's chorus, the end of the song shows that he succeeded in doing so, burning everything to the ground and putting an end to Afton once and for all.

Is He Magnificent?

I'd say so yeah. He pulls pretty much all the same tricks he does in the original game. Forming an elaborate scheme that involves luring the animatronics and Afton in and using the audio of children to keep them contained, and once everyone is exacty where he wants them to be, he burns it all to the ground, something he is shown to be successful in doing. It's a pretty smart plan all things considered, and we can see at the end of song that it did what it was meant to do. Plus his intense singing in the chorus makes the song a banger, so he certainly has the cool factor. Overall? I think he has this one in the bag.

Is He a Bastard?

While admittedly not being much of one, considering the characters he submitted to a firey grave were evil and needed to die, like his original counterpart, he still has some morally enigmatic traits that I think just push him enough to be considered a bastard. For one there's the unnamed employee who took the job in the first place. While it's not clear if this is Michael or not, one thing that's certain is that they don't seem to be morally bad in any way, and even seem confused when animatronics start hunting them down, pretty much meaning Henry was submitting an innocent bystander who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time to deadly scenarios, and even seemingly burns them to the ground along with the rest of the animatronics.

Beyond that though, since this is a labyrinth disguised as a kid's restaurant, and we can see that it is meant to be marketed that way, he is also putting children in danger by having deadly, child killing animatronics in the same place where kids are supposed to play. So that's kinda fucked up as well.

Overall, while he has good intentions, like regular Henry, this version of the character still has some pretty morally enigmatic traits that just make him shady enough in my opinion. But as he is still a Well-Intentioned Extremist who is trying to kill an incredibly evil man along with his equally sadistic daughter along with several other killer robots, I think that prevents him from being too much of a bastard.

Verdict?

Gonna say yes on this one, but in the end, it's up to you to decide!

New-a proposal! Yeah whatever i do these rarely, so i better get on with this, cause this character is very fun.

What's the work?

We're back at One Piece everybody. Pirate media extrodinare. Monkey D. Luffy, gum-gum fruit, wants to be the king of the pirates, delightful crew, great journey across the world.

So there's no specific arc from where this character resides from, but let me set you at least some background on the world of One Piece. The world is fearful of pirates, trusts the marines, and the world goverment can only be a good thing in the world right? But who informs the world off the big things happening outside? Considering the fact that the islands are few and far between, there's gotta be someone powerful managing the news across the world. After all, some big stuff is happening in the story.

Well...

WHO GIVES THE BIG NEWS???

NONE OTHER THAN "BIG NEWS" MORGANS HIMSELF!!

A person who ate the Bird-Bird fruit Model: Albatross, "Big News" Morgans is an eccentricly enthusiastic reporter of the news happening across the world, managing the World Economy News Paper, the main outlet for news in around the world.

    History

First appearing alongside many underworld big-shots attending one of the infamous Tea Parties of the Pirate Emperor "Big Mom", Morgans attended to report the wedding planned alongside a member of the royal family "Germa 66" Vinsmoke Sanji and Charlotte Pudding, one of the many daughters of Big Mom.

Interested on how this event would televise across the world, Morgans would take pictures of the event, up until our protag Luffy himself jumped out of the wedding cake, and started a ruckus. Morgans was nothing less than ecstatic to see him, given how his previous record of defying impossible odds and coming out on top would serve for his paper, trying to catch every moment that the wedding crash would bring.

After escaping the exploding tower of Whole Cake, Morgans decided to write up every event that caused the crash of the wedding to be work of Straw Hat Luffy, even though a couple of them were unintentional and convinient like the tower exploding.

Cementing his belief that one of the pirates from the Worst Generation would become the next new Pirate Emperor, Morgans would go write an article of Luffy's wedding crash and his miraculous escape from Totto Land, unofficially declaring him as the "fifth emperor of the sea", making Luffy be under the eye of the government more than ever.

Later on, Morgans would attend the Levely, an event where the world leaders would plan for the future and change laws that occured every four years, to report the events happenning on it.

After the Levely, Morgans was organizing how to report such big scoops as the murder of King Nefertari Cobra and the dissasociation of the Seven Warlords system. During this, one of his employees would send him a letter from the goverment telling him to cover up Cobra's death for a wad of cash. Morgans refused, but his employee revealed himself to be a Cipher Pol agent, intending to force him to cover up the story. In response, Morgans knocked him out cold, refusing to cover up the story, and sending his working place flying to another place.

Shortly after, the King of Evil Dark Drum Kingdom Wapol called him to leak some info on the events of the Levely. Namely, that he escaped from witnessing the Five Elders and the mysterious Imu were the ones responsible for killing him. Thanks to this, Morgans gave both him and Vivi shelter while they were running away from the government, while (seemingly as of now) spinning the papers to frame Sabo for the murder, letting his intended war against the Celestial Dragons gain traction.

More over, after the raid in Onigashima was a success, Morgans was informed once again to cover up the events that happened on Wano, but due to Big Mom's pirates interfering the remaining Cipher Pol, Morgans decided to report them anyways, drastly increasing the bounties of the Worst Generation that helped take down the two Emperors Kaido and Big Mom, declaring Luffy as the New Emperor of the sea.

During the Egghead arc, a day before the Egghead Incident, Morgans gained traction about both Luffy arriving on Egghead and the government targeting Vegapunk for assassination. To both please the government and earn money, Morgans spinned the news so that it wrote that Luffy captured Vegapunk and was waging a war against the marines. Though Vivi objected this, Morgans declared that entertainment was more important than truth. Later on, Luffy would declare that he had the Vegapunks hostage, making Morgans news letter true.

What makes him magnificent?

Ever since Morgans first debuted on the Whole Cake Island arc, he has been a delight to see.

Determined to write news for the world to see and thriving on Gossip, Morgans is always playing both sides to get the maximum entertainment and truth.

He is always prepared at any moment to fight off and escape any troubles that may interrupt his journalism, as he's always on his hybrid form of his Zoan fruit in case they attack him and has his base of operations always ready to fly off to another place in case they might raid his workplace.

And despite being part of the underworld, he's not below helping people like Vivi and Wapol to hide them from the government.

He's two faced and can be a bit of a jerk, but his employees happily work for him, and are just as enthusiastic to report as him.

What makes him a bastard?

Having said that, Morgans is by no means a saint.

He's involved in underworld dealings and is willing to let criminal activities take place if they happen to be news worthy.

His news can either publish the truth, or be used to please the government whenever he feels like it. He's not 100% truthful, but if the truth is juicy enough, he will definetly fight tooth and nail to publish it.

He wants to see the world relish on the news that he publishes, even if they are sometimes lies. However, that still doesn't cut out the fact that he's 100% dedicated to his job.

Veredict?

I would say that "BIG NEWS" is worthy of a [tup]

While his character is technically still ongoing, i don't think there's anything big that could happen with his character in the future that would disqualify him of this position.
