Sandbox / Hype Prevention Sandbox

Go To

Within the Trope Pantheons, a wait time is in place for suggesting anything from recently released works; this sandbox catalogues them, and the dates they become fair game. This system is in place to prevent a half-baked profile driven by hype from being created, which has led to profiles that become outdated or even disqualified for a trope due to later developments. If you would like to suggest and create a profile for something from one of these works, please wait the allotted time. If you would still like to create a profile, find a great trope fit for them and explain in detail why they deserve said trope, but jumpy and impulsive discussion about ideas for new releases or installments before the date is discouraged.

The system is as follows:

  • Movies = when the DVD/Blu-ray is released. This goes for both live-action and animated movies.
  • Video Games = Depends. Story-heavy games are two months, while less plot-heavy games are one. Indie games are a few weeks to two months depending on how popular the game in question is, and games released in chapters are a month and a half after the final chapter releases. These rules also apply to any DLC these games may receive, especially if they elaborate on the original work’s elements.
  • Comic Books/Manga/Cartoons/TV Shows/Anything released in episodes or issues = Slice of Life works or works with little-to-no continuity are a month after the first episode airs or the first issue releases. More story-heavy works (especially ones with lots of Wham Episodes) are generally discouraged before the series finishes, as it almost always leads to the profile(s) needing reworks as the series progresses, but they can still be discussed. Works released whole season by whole season are two months unless they fall into the "story-heavy" category, which is two months after the final season releases.
  • Web Video = Major events that surround a web personality (such as a Milestone Celebration or other achievements) will have suggestions surrounding them put under a week or two’s barring until the effects of those achievements wear off. Suggestions surrounding RL negative incidents of a web personality will likely be barred by the forum users instantly. Web personalities who are party to non-ironic political discussions frequently on their platform or social media will be put under extreme scrutiny as well. Considering how many web personalities are having their extremely negative/toxic traits exposed online—even if overblown, this rule is imperative.
  • Works that had their creators passed away are also put under the same limit as “honouring their memory” clouds users' judgment on whether the suggestion is applicable. This covers if the deceased creators’ series was still ongoing or had ended even decades ago.
Long-Runners are exempt from this rule if a singular work lasts for more than a few years with no signs of stopping soon. If the series is an instalment of a larger franchise, it will be given the same scrutiny as a newly released work. Suggestions that pertain to Long-Runners’ most recent/ongoing narrative are allowed although they will be most likely be barred until the work moves on from when the proposal was recently given high relevance.

When work is getting a publicized rerelease, unless the work comes from one active Long-Runners then waiting a week must be granted. Examples of rereleased material are new versions/HD remasters of films/shows or HD ports/reimaginings of video games. Unless the very material that has been rereleased added/reworked substantial elements within that are heavily important to the experience (such as a director’s cut), then it will be put under the same scrutiny as a newly released work (two weeks at minimum).

Note: Some works may have times shortened or extended from the usual limit. A * will be next to the work in question explaining why.
