"You want Darker and Edgier Disney? Here's your fucking darker and edgier Disney."
—The stories description

Thumper Conquers the Universe is an...unusual fanfic centered around Thumper the Rabbit, and a lot of other characters too.

It all starts with Thumper being bored out of his skull, and pondering how much of a wimp he is in the context of all things. Fortunately, he stumbles across Genie's magic lamp, and after a brief talk with Genie about the nature of cosmic power, he wishes for it himself. Genie reluctantly grants him it, but the little rabbit is so overwhelmed by the sheer raw power he's just gained, that it drives him insane and turns him into a bloodthirsty genocidal maniac, and the rest of the multiverse is forced to band together to stop him.

If the opening headline doesn't tip you off, the story is meant to be a sendup of Darker and Edgier takes on Disney stories, as well as a parody of the Memetic Badass internet trends.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Wimp: Darkseid, one of the most powerful characters in the DC Universe, is effortlessly defeated by Thumper by the rabbit simply stepping on his toe, sending him fleeing and weeping like a crybaby.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Thumper, an adorable baby rabbit who is as far from evil as you can get, becomes the villain of this story.
  • Alternate Continuity: The story isn't set in any particular continuity. Its just an excuse to have Thumper become an all powerful evil character and have a lot of crossover characters team up to fight him.
  • Bullying a Dragon:
    • Newscasters Dallas and Juanita frequently pop up during the story, offering their own commentary on whats going on and make frequent jabs at Thumper, who mind you is tearing apart the whole planet with his actions and could effortlessly kill them if he wanted to. It eventually comes to bite them in the rear when Thumper finds their TV station, and Thumper makes Dallas' head explode, leaving Juanita to mourn over him.
    • The Condiment King purposefully invokes this to distract Thumper so a group of innocent people can escape his wrath.
  • Car Fu: Marty Mcfly tries to get rid of Thumper by ramming him with the DeLorean just as it travels through time, attempting to trap him at the very end of time itself in a last ditch effort to stop him. It doesn't work—Thumper kills Marty and uses the DeLorean to return to the present.
  • Comes Great Insanity: Thumper wishes for ultra phenomenal cosmic power with a cherry on top, two eggs and a slice of bacon from Genie, and he gets just that—and it drives him insane in the process.
  • Crack Fic: There aren't many other things you can call a fanfic where Thumper of all characters becomes an Omnicidal Maniac.
  • Dance Party Ending: After Thumper undoes everything caused by his first wish, he uses Genie's last wish to have a disco dance party with a colony of Rabbids.
  • Darker and Edgier: The fic is meant to be a parody of the trope.
  • Disney Death: Genie is seemingly killed by Thumper early in the story—except he wasn't. Thumper's energy blast just severely weakened him to the point that he can't even manifest his corporeal form or even speak for a while, much less use magic.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: The reason Genie is seemingly killed off early on is because if someone else got ahold of his lamp, they could use one of his wishes to end the conflict right then and there. Ironically, by the time Genie has recuperated, its just in time for Thumper to finally despair at all the horrible things he's done, and he uses his second wish to undo the entire story.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
  • Excuse Plot: Don't even try to make sense of the story, or why Thumper of all people would want any kind of power—its just an excuse to make a ridiculous crossover with Dragon Ball Z and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann-scale battles.
  • Heel Realization: After killing Bambi, Thumper finally breaks free of his power-induced insanity and falls into despair about all the lives he destroyed because of his thoughtlessness.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: The Condiment King distracts Thumper from attacking a building full of innocent people with a punch of terrible food puns before he inevitably gets killed by him, all to buy time for them to escape.
  • Hope Spot:
  • Hurricane of Puns: The Condiment King delivers a bunch of food-related puns to Thumper to distract him. Thumper just gets annoyed by him and tries to move on, but the King finally provokes him into a fight by squirting mustard in his eyes.
  • I Warned You: Genie, knowing he can't stop Thumper from making any wish that doesn't break his four rulesnote , tries to warn him that, being as young as he is, he probably couldn't handle the sheer amount of mental stress his newfound power will put on his mind. Thumper doesn't listen, makes the wish, and is driven insane by his new abilities. Horrified at what he's become, Genie points out that he warned him, and offers to undo it with one of his other two wishes. Thumper (seemingly) destroys him in retaliation.
  • Loophole Abuse: How the conflict is finally resolved. Genie points out that he can't bring people back from the dead, but he can grant time travel wishes to undo a future event. It doesn't give your previous wishes back, though.
  • Oh, Crap!: When Thumper is thinking about wishing for power, Genie tries to talk him out of it by pointing out what happened to the last person who got it (Jafar becoming a genie, but getting trapped in a lamp and being subservient to others and bound to the rules of a Genie), thinking he'll take the bait—but to his shock, Thumper astutely points out that that happened because Jafar specifically wished to be a genie, not just an all powerful being.
  • Parody:
    • The whole fic is meant to be a spoof of the Memetic Badass trope by taking the least likely character to ever be a badass, Thumper the Rabbit, and make him into a ludicrously overpowered demigod who can wipe the floor with any foe he comes across.
    • Its also meant to be a send-up of the idea of Disney works being made much Darker and Edgier by applying it to one of Disney's cutest characters and the rest of the Disney universe in general.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Thumper is less than a foot tall in height, but his first wish makes him so powerful that he can hand powerful characters like Darkseid their ass on a silver platter.
  • Running Gag: Dallas and Juanita frequently popping up to offer news commentary on Thumper's worldwide rampage. Gets Running Gagged midway thru when Thumper kills Dallas. The Ed Boys take over their news station from then on, and thankfully survive the rest of the story.
  • Shockwave Stomp: Thumper's namesake habit becomes weaponized by the rabbit this way, and it is able to level an entire city with just a few of them.
  • Shout-Out:
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: After Thumper kills Bambi and falls into a state of despair upon comprehending all the chaos he's done, Merlin verbally rips him a new one, topping it off with "Congratulations, boy! You've conquered the universe...and yet, you're nothing."
  • Take That!: Donald Trump is among Thumper's initial victims. His death is met with thunderous applause from a crowduntil Thumper tells them he's going to kill them as well.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: When Thumper wishes for phenomenal cosmic power, Genie at least tries to talk him out of it, pointing out the ramifications of what could happen. Thumper just gets annoyed and orders him to go through with it, and Genie has no choice but to comply, with a look on his face that screams "You don't know what you're in for, kid."
  • Three Wishes: Thumper gets three of them from Genie, with the rules that apply. The first one sets off the events of the fic. The second wish undoes all of it. Since he travelled back in time to before he made his first wish, Thumper asks if he gets his first two wishes back, but Genie tells him not to push his luck. The third wish is just to take part in a disco jam with a colony of Rabbids.
  • The Worf Effect:
    • Thumper's very first victim is Genie, one of the most powerful characters in the Disney pantheon. Also justified, considering Genie basically handed him unimaginable power. However, it's revealed he wasn't killed, just severely weakened and forced into hiding until he could recuperate.
    • Broli is summoned to take down Thumper early on. Thumper shrinks him down to the size of a pin and chews up him like candy.
    • The Silver Surfer also shows up to try and stop him. Thumper beats him by throwing a rubber duck at him, knocking him off his board and putting him out of commission.
    • Curiously, Princess Celestia does not suffer this like she does in the show she hails from, and at least manages to hold her own against Thumper for a while until he eventually overwhelms her with his sheer raw power. Its justified, as it happens fairly early in the story, where Thumper is still trying to get ahold of his newfound powers.
