Mango and Brash

    Tropes as a duo
  • George Jetson Job Security: In Take the Plunge, they are demoted to janitors after being accused of flooding the city (which makes the General Inspector’s socks soggy), before becoming agents again near the end of the book.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Mango and Brash have a great bond with each other, not wanting to lose the other or getting hurt. They also tend to spend a lot of their time together outside of work, like watching a movie or getting breakfast.
  • Odd Couple: Mango is more of a goofball while Brash is more hard-nosed.
  • Old Cop, Young Cop: Brash is the more experienced member of the team.

    Mango
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f93c6ce3_5a4a_44f5_9dd3_56c4c93af9fe.jpeg
A dark green alligator who likes thinking outside of the box.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: In Volume One, He is seen eating a PB and PB sandwich. (Which is not excess peanut butter, but rather peanut butter and pickle and bacon.) However, there are still certain food combinations he finds disgusting, like ketchup on waffles.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Despite his unusual taste in food and tendency to crack jokes, he is a top agent of S.U.I.T. and can have a sharp sense of wit when the situation calls for it.
  • Cuckoosnarker: Usually directing comments at Brash.
Mango: This is the point in the book where I tell you you can't reason with Daryl, Brash. It's like a theme or something.
  • Cover Identity Anomaly: In Heist and Seek, he is given a S.M.O.C.K. that disguises him with a wig, smock, glasses and even changes his skin colour to blue. The problem is he did not come up with basic information like a city or even a name, so he calls himself Macaroni Ancheese from Lampurugalightswitchland.
  • Genius Ditz: He can calibrate various tracking devices for anything from a painting to chocolate chips.
  • Smart Ball: In Take the Plunge he hacks into a business card to track down the location of another S.U.I.T agent.

    Brash
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/45e08aeb_93aa_4484_b5fc_d082d44086f9.jpeg
A light green alligator that likes doing things by the book, even if he skips a page or two.
  • Angry Collar Grab: He tends to do this with innocent witnesses he's interrogating, usually when he's really stressed out.
  • Age Cut: In his subconscious, Baby Brash ages up from a kid with Pubescent Braces, to a teenager with acne all over his face and back to his adult self, who's overcome his fears and trauma.
  • Blue with Shock: He gets a blue gradient with vertical lines on his face and Blank White Eyes whenever he finds out that Daryl/Crackerdile is still alive.
  • Idiot Ball: While he is the more sensible and serious of the duo, he still makes occasional mistakes interpreting similar-sounding words.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite Mango’s many ridiculous antics, he still cares about him and finds him an okay partner to have around.
  • Running Gag: He and other characters like to comment on the shape of his chin.
Mango, upon meeting Baby Brash: Aw, so adorable! You never really grow into that chin, though, do you?
  • Repressed Memories: Implied by RoboBrash. He's transferred with the real Brash's memories but can't seem to recall the ones that are related to Daryl or Crackerdile. Brash had pushed any memory of Daryl far back into his subconscious because he doesn't want to remember.
  • Situational Sociability: Shown more in the batteryPOP shorts but he gets anxious during the board meeting at the bank and a news interview.
  • Trauma Button: Whenever someone makes a passing mention on Daryl’s fate, Brash starts to look very emotional, almost about to cry.
  • Troubled Backstory Flashback: He has one when he looks back at the concrete Waffledile statue standing on top of the Mother Of All Waffles building.
  • Your Worst Memory: Throughout the books, Brash is reminded about the incident that happened with Daryl. He also gets flashbacks to when he was eaten by Waffledile.

  • Money Dumb: They use up 80% of S.U.I.T.'s funding on frivolous things like custom-made gadgets, merchandise and 6-star hotels.
