Arknza/Arknangels

Seven Godly blooded Beings...
All as children from the Dark
Represented by Goodness, Courage, Love and Heart...
These are the Arknza.
The prophecy of the Arknza

A group of powerful, Hethe-blooded Arkn. A Hethian prophecy states that seven of them (led by a core group of four known as the "Paradox Players") will one day face the Carver in battle and emerge victorious, leading to a new golden age.

     In General
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Their power may stem from Hethian blood, but the Arknza are all decent, heroic individuals.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: After the battle with The Carver, the seven go their separate ways and follow their own paths. However, at least some of them choose paths that intersect with the others: Uriel and Ellpagg resume their lives as royals and knights together, Raziel and Raguel travel the realms together, and Ambriel rules Paradisium with Raziel's help — and Seraphina as the captain of their army.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Happens to all of the seven after the Hethe depart from Existence. They may lose their divine powers, but they're still Long-Lived, flighted, magic-using warriors.[[note]](DeathlyLogic has confirmed that the departure of the Hethe didn't mean the end of magic altogether.)
  • The Chosen Many: While there are a number of Arkn who possess Hethian blood (and thus technically qualify as ArknAngels), only seven Arknza are mentioned by the prophecy — and only seven emerge (as far as we know).
  • Fusion Dance: Averted; while most of the Arknza of Universe A merged their physical essence with that of a Hethe-blooded human "counterpart" (leaving the human and Arkn personalities to share a single body), the Arknza of Eternal are able to avoid this: with Azrael's knowledge (and some extra training) they are able to unlock (and learn to control) their Hethian power of their own accord, without the aid of a human counterpart.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: All of the Arknza just want to be able to live their own lives, free of the responsibility of being the "chosen ones". They get their wish after their battle with The Carver: the Hethe depart from the universe, taking with them their divine power — and the immortality of the Arkn — allowing the Arknza to live normal, mortal lives of their own chosing.
  • True Companions: With Azrael's help, the Paradox Players form friendships that last much of their lives, surviving even the loss of Azrael to the Infernous.

Paradox Players

     King Uriel

Uri'el Gilga'mesh

The Second King of Elysium, King of Battle and the Infernous, and Commander of the Golden Army, Uriel is the only child of King Gilgamesh and the father of Ellpagg and Seraphina. Uriel is the first Arknza and Paradox Player, described in the prophecy as "born of a line fit to rule as Kings".

  • Badass Family: Is the head of one.
  • Big Beautiful Man: He, like his father, is great in both size and beauty.
  • Dad the Veteran: He was a veteran of the second Arkn-Dekn war by the time Ellpagg was "conceived".
  • Doorstep Baby: Shortly after his conception, he was left on the steps of the Elysium palace, where he was found and raised by Delphar (with the later assistance of Azrael).
  • Generation Xerox: Much like his Universe A counterpart, Uriel is the spitting image of King Gilgamesh in his prime: tall and heavy-set, with dark hair, Supernatural Gold Eyes and a full, well-kept beard.
  • The Good King: He is considered the greatest king to ever rule the Arkn, and is much beloved and respected by his subjects.
  • Parental Abandonment: He was conceived through a union between Gilgamesh and The Carver (while Gil was in the Infernous); the latter left him on the steps of the palace of Elysium as an infant. (The former had a good excuse for his absence, as he was sealed up in the Infernous at the time.)
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Not only is he Elysia's most beloved ruler, but he's the commander of the Golden Army, the de facto leader of the Paradox Players (and the Arknza as a whole), and helped train at least two of the Arknza (and most likely led the fellowship into battle against The Carver).
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Uriel inherited his father's golden eyes (which are a signature trait of the royal family).
  • Technical Pacifist: Subverted; unlike his Universe A counterpart, he has no trouble fighting (or killing) The Carver.
  • Truly Single Parent: To Ellpagg and Seraphina. (Though The Carver had a hand in their creation.)

     Raphael

Raph'ael

The Arkn (and Arkangel) of Healing, Raphael is the eldest son of Abaddon and the first Arkn to result from procreation. He served under Gilgamesh in the First War and Uriel in the Second War, earning a reputation as one of the finest Arkn warriors. Raphael is the second Arknza and Paradox Player, described in the prophecy as the Arknangel "born to wars and beings".

  • A Real Man Is a Killer: As a child, Raphael was awestruck by Raziel and wanted to learn magic; Abaddon, however, forced him to begin weapons training as soon as he came of age and indoctrinated him in the ways of war. As a young adult (under Azrael's encouragement), he secretly began taking magic lessons with Raziel, and eventually discovered his natural healing powers.
  • The Atoner: Raphael hopes to make up for his bloody past life by using his magicks to heal and preserve lives. Unfortunately, he has to step back into the role of warrior in order to face The Carver. After Carver's defeat, however, he begins drifting from one realm to the next, helping others.
  • Bio-Armor: Assuming he possesses the same armor as his Universe A self, he wears a suit of armor was forged by Abaddon out of the souls of Dekn slain in battle. This causes Raph to be surrounded with the "aura of death" on the battlefield. (He presumably abandons it after deciding to become a healer.)
  • Cast from Hit Points: He can heal any injury — including fatal ones — by transferring a tiny piece of his soul into whoever he's healing. (As in Universe A, what effect this has on either him or the individuals he's healed hasn't been revealed.)
  • The Chosen One: Abaddon firmly believed that Raphael was destined to carry out the legacy of the Hethe — and made certain Raph knew so from a very young age. He's right, but it leaves Raph horribly mentally and emotionally damaged.
  • Combat Medic: Raph spent most of his adult life on the battlefield killing Dekn; he later chooses to focus on his healing magicks, using his powers to preserve and restore life rather than take it. However, he's still a warrior, and he's perfectly capable of throwing down when the occasion calls for it.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: In addition to his childhood, Raph has to contend with the memory of his wanton slaughter on the battlefield, as well as his role in hunting down the Nephilim and Watchers.
  • Healing Magic: The power of his healing magicks is unmatched. In fact, he's known as the "Arkn of Healing".
  • I Am Your Father: The Carver is his father (though it's unknown whether he ever discovers this).
  • Journey to Find Oneself: After helping to defeat The Carver, he drifted from one realm to the next, with his brother Raguel by his side, in search of a sense of belonging and inner peace.
  • Magic Staff: Praevaricator, Raphael's signature staff. It was originally created by the Hethe to aid the Arkn Gynesis, who gifted it to Abaddon to pass onto his firstborn son. Raph uses it to channel his healing powers. Doubles as a Staff of Authority during the battle against The Carver.
  • Master Swordsman: He began training with a sword almost as soon as he could hold one.
  • Reluctant Warrior: He only started killing because it was expected of him (and because it was "kill or be killed" on the battlefield). After the battle against The Carver, he gives it up completely and devotes himself to healing and preserving life.
  • Resurrective Immortality: Presumably One of the abilities granted to him by his healing powers.
  • Walking the Earth: After The Carver's death, he leaves the Arkn and becomes a wanderer, drifting through the realms peacefully (likely while healing others). He's initially joined by his brother Raguel; however, Raguel later leaves him and settles down in .Reality with his own family.

     Raziel

Ruhah'zehee'el

The Arknmagus of Knowledge, Magic, Wisdom, Secrets, Hope, and Tragedy, and former Arkn of Rage, Indifference, and Fear. Raziel is the fourth Arkn brought into existence, created by the Hethe Gar'sha. He initially served as a soldier, strategist, and religious leader during the First War. At the height of the war, he devoted himself to the study and mastery of magicks, creating the energy field that serves as the source of all Arkn magick, as well as the Aetherium and the Infinitium. After suffering disgrace and mistreatment by the Aristocracy, he lost faith in the Arkn cause. However, he remained near the Golden Cities, where he watched over and helped care for his granddaughter, Ambriel (while assisting the Arknza in their training). Raziel is the third Arknza and Paradox Player, described in the prophecy as the Arknangel "raised from magic strings".

  • Ambiguously Gay: He had a family with a male Arkn (Hazel), and spent five years living on Earth with a defected male Dekn, Arix.
  • The Archmage: Acted as one during the First War (and for a long time afterwards).
  • Badass Bookworm: He spent eons recording his findings on the First Reality and the Dekn (such that he was considered the official expert on both). Later, he devoted his time to analyzing magickal energy, mastering it, and recording his findings — essentially becoming the father of all fields of Arkn magick. All this, and he's not just one of the most prolific Arkn warriors in history, but one of the prophesied Arknza.
  • Badass Pacifist: He may have taken a vow of non-violence, but make no mistake: he possesses the powers of a Reality Warper, and can freeze you in your tracks with a single word if he so desires. He later drops the "Pacifist" part in order to help train Ambriel as a warrior, and then to help fight The Carver.
  • The Berserker: He used to be this on the battlefield, slaughtering literally countless Dekn in his lust for blood.
  • Blood Knight: During the First War, he fit this to a T.
  • Born Unlucky: One of Raziel's aspects is tragedy. He believes everything that brings him joy is destined to end in suffering and disaster; it turns out he's wrong, as not only does he help the Arknza fellowship to defeat The Carver, but so does Ambriel — his greatest source of joy. And then they both live long, happy lives while ruling the Paradisium.
  • Cool Old Guy: Given that he's one of the most ancient Arkn, he definitely qualifies.
  • Court Mage: Acted as one during the reign of King Gilgamesh.
  • Cultured Badass: He's one of the greatest Arkn warriors and fighters in history, and is also very learned and refined.
  • Dad the Veteran: During the peacetime after the First War, he fathered three children with Hazel.

     Azrael Michaelis

Azrael Michaelis Winter

The Arknangel of Time and Salvation from Universe A, Azrael was born Michaelis Winter, the eldest son of that universe's Marcus and Mary Winter. Originally an AU version of Michael Knight (created by a glitch generated when Uriel entered .Reality), he unwillingly became fused with Xerex Storn on the day his timeline underwent its apocalypse. Afterwards, he was hidden away at the beginning of time, where he was trained and mentored by Ellpagg. After witnessing (and playing a part in) the failure of the Arknza fellowship, he uses his powers to travel back in time to an earlier point in the history of the Arkn, averting the events that lead to the fellowship's failure (and creating a new timeline and universe). Azrael was the original fourth Arknza and Paradox Player, described as the Arknangel who "came forth from time itself".

  • A Friend in Need: Acts as this to Ellpagg, agreeing to be damned to The Infernous in his place.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Azrael started hearing the Arkn and Dekn at a young age (as did his brother), making him fear that he was going crazy. His parents and sister were murdered in front of him by an unknown killer when he was only nine years old — on the same day his brother was shot dead by his own Guardian Arkn. After a lifetime in foster care, he tried to build a stable life for himself, reclaiming his family name and starting therapy; just when it seemed he had a shot at happiness, Xerex showed up, hijacked his life, and (allegedly) killed the guy he loved — before killing Michaelis himself, and forcing him into a situation where they became bound together. Then his mentor, Ellpagg, locked him up in a tower on the edge of existence (after giving him someone else’s memories and nearly destroying his original identity), leaving him to watch all of history unfold in isolation. And after all that, when he's finally allowed out on his own, he was forced to witness the failure of the fellowship of the Arknza — while knowing that it was partially his fault. The latter part is ultimately what inspires him to try to alter history for the better.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: When the time arrives for Ellpagg to go into The Infernous, the afterlife/prison dimension of the Dekn (which, in original history, caused Ellpagg to lose his sanity, become corrupted and Drunk On Power, and transformed him into a pawn of The Carver), he offers to take his place — after giving Ellpagg his Hethian blood (rendering himself powerless). Fittingly, the rest of the Arknza continue Ellpagg's training in his name.
  • Killed Off for Real: In the Infernous, after a brutal battle with The Carver (during which Azrael wasn't even armed).

     Ellpagg

Ellepaggi Xeth'i'stral

The prince of Elysia and Arkn Knight of Battle, Time, Madness, and Beetles. Ellpagg is the eldest child (and only son) of King Uriel. He takes Azrael's place among the Paradox Players (after Azrael enters the Infernous in his place), and later fights alongside the Arknza in the battle against The Carver. He eventually becomes the third king of Elysia.

  • The Good King: He becomes one of the finest Arkn rulers, second only to his own father.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: He's not just a prince, but an Arkn knight and an Arknza.
  • Warrior Prince: He was trained to be proficient in combat at a young age, by some of the finest Arkn warriors (including his own father and Raphael). It pays off when he takes his place in the Arknza fellowship, helping them to train new Arknza — and eventually defeat The Carver himself.

Arknza of Prophecy

     Queen Ambriel

Am’bariel Gil’baraskas Para’dasi

The Queen of Paradisium and former Arkn High Muse of Radiance, Song, and Empathy. She is the daughter of Kryatha and Josephine (Raziel's daughter). Here moParadisium Inqusition, she was raised by the Arkn Choir under the name Lahabrea. She eventually discovers her true identity and flees the Paradisium. She eventually returns to the city, overthrowing the corrupt government that once persecuted her family and becoming the city's new queen. After the Battle of the Arknza, she becomes the leader of the re-established kingdom of Riviera. Ambriel is the fifth Arknza of prophecy, described as "a Queen fit to rebel".

     Raguel

Ishmahab'Raguel'M

The Arkn Warrior of Justice and Vengeance, Raguel is the youngest son of Abaddon. He is the sixth Arknza, described as the Arknangel who "lost blood, from scripture fell".

  • Archnemesis Dad: Well, considering The Carver is his father, and he hates his guts (and later helps to defeat and kill him), this is definitely accurate.
  • Humanity Ensues: Possibly; while the final episode of Solar's Crimson doesn't elaborate on his fate (and the Arknza of Universe E don't muck around with human counterparts), it does mention that he settles down with "his family"; it's possible that he does later take human form.
  • In-Series Nickname: While he's never explicitly referred to as "Rag" or "The Traveler", it's a safe bet that both still apply.
  • Magic Knight: He is both a powerful warrior and (as the final battle demonstrates) a capable magic user.
  • Overly Long Name: His full Arkn name is Ishmahab'Raguel'M (a combination of "Ishmael", "Ahab", and "Raguel").
  • Walking the Earth: After The Carver's death, he joins his brother Raphael in wandering the realms (before eventually returning to .Reality and settling down with a family of his own).
