    In General
The Yami Matter is an anomalous force created by the aftermath side-effects of Datenshi’s presence and Shin-Io restoring the world, thanks to the darkness of humanity. It is responsible for resetting time backwards and allowing the shadows to conjure, revive, and recruit various figures for the protagonists to confront.
  • Dark Is Evil: It’s main nature is darkness.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: It serves as this in Akane no Mai Books II and III while the Consortium serve as the perspective antagonists.
  • Made of Evil: It is made by the darkness of people’s hearts.

    Ghost of Colonel Sanders
A ghost of the KFC colonel that Sekiken, Queen, and Noir fought at the beginning of Akane no Mai Book II.
  • Starter Villain: He serves as the tutorial boss of the revised Urban Legends that is Akane no Mai's Book II - III, giving signs of what's to come for the protagonists will face.

    Yokai and Associates

    Haruki/Stellar Ikeda and Takumi/Tidal Kussharo
Two young boys that are experimented into becoming Japanese plesiosaur cryptids. They are restored back to normal by Mia and Morgana's group at the beach.

    Myrk Hedoro
A giant sludge monster that appeared in the Crimson dimension's Shibuya in the third Yami Matter event. It is impervious to normal attacks, that it took only a Persona's Ascendancy to easily destroy it with bad results.
  • Expy: The appearance is based on Hedorah from Godzilla.
  • Knight of Cerebus: This monster is the first to outright murder civilians in the Crimson dimension, alongside the Phantom Thieves' normal powers are not strong enough to destroy it. Ren is forced to become Persona's Ascendancy to easily destroy Myrk Hedoro, but devastated Crimson's Shibuya in leaving a bad reputation, and causing Hifumi to use her powers to restore the Crimson dimension and erasing the memories.

    Cognitive Ann

The main adversary of the fourth Yami Matter event. She materialized when a Yami Matter shard infected Ann's mind and controls her. This is actually a separate version from the cognition of Kamoshida's Palace.

  • Fan Disservice: Her appearance is not played for cute looks as the characters viewed her as a spiteful cognition. Especially giving them a nightmare face and her transformed state.
  • Foil: She and her Palace-like area is similar to Futaba's mother cognition and her Palace. Both (alongside the depressions coming from Ann and Futaba) are the fourth events of their respective stories. Both having cat-like features (Futaba's cognition being a sphinx, and Cognitive Ann has a cat headband alongside her transformed state's cat tail). While Futaba's mother cognition is a wrathful monster, Cognitive Ann is a sadistic figure. Futaba first awakened her Persona to turn the tide for the Phantom Thieves, while Ann used her Persona's Ascendancy again to easily obliterate Cognitive Ann and the Palace.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Following the third Yami Matter event with Myrk Hedoro, this cognition steps it up in the protagonists' grieving moments. Her personality as a different version marks a stark contrast to the one as Shadow Kamoshida's slave, as she controls Ann's body and mind in coming close to destroy her and Ren's marriage and leaving Ann depressed for a couple of weeks. Up until the fourth event, the past events are just business until the end of the Crimson crossover's stocking events, the fourth event with Cognitive Ann makes it personal for the protagonists.
  • Nightmare Face: Gives one to her enemies before transforming.
  • One-Winged Angel: Transformed into a monstrous form akin to Catherine's nightmarish form.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: For this version in expanding her character, she maliciously taunts Ann's insecurities and scorns at Ren, alongside doxxing at Ann's memories such as their private moments.
