    Izuku's Cabal

In General

A group of Initiates that has banded together in order to help each other reach the end of the Black Course. Led by Izuku Midoriya, they keep causing waves due to the absurd situations they get involved in and how they get out of them.
  • Critical Staffing Shortage: Unlike other Warlord Cabals, due to them being a relatively new one, they are sorely lacking in management manpower. Out of their few members, only Izuku, Katsuki and Maina have management capabilities, meaning they have to do most of the management requirements expected of a Warlord Cabal.
  • Famed In-Story: They are famous at UA since before the official formation of the Cabal starting with Shouto spreading the news on Izuku befriending Himiko, then Yagi spreading the news of Izuku befriending Tsuyu, then the Cabal beating Geten the Nightmare of Ice, and finally, Izuku becoming the Warlord of the Special Exclusion Zone.
  • Out of Focus: In Book 2, while they still play an important role, they slowly join the background to give way to Asa Shigaraki's Cabal.
  • Party of Representatives: During Book 1, they are the only Cabal to knowingly be a mixed human-demihuman Cabal in spite of the mutual prejudice between humans and demihumans.

Izuku Midoriya

The main protagonist. Izuku is a student at the prestigious U.A., where he suddenly learns that there is a strange world hidden from the normal population, a world of magic and eldritch abominations where humans have to step lightly about. From there on, he must learn of this new world, with the help of his friends, and try to survive using his wits, his charm - and his seriously ridiculous luck.
  • Achievements in Ignorance: He can wield this as a weapon, regularly performing feats that more 'grounded' Initiates believe to be impossible through a combination of his rather special 'nature', his intelligence, and most importantly, not being informed his feats are impossible beforehand. Katsuki notes this after the Cabal successfully beats Geten with Izuku's plan.
  • Ambiguously Bi: While mostly attracted to females, he does admit that sufficiently feminine guys are also attractive to him.
  • Ambiguously Human: In the aftermath of the Mankind Liberation Front attack, and Izuku's encounter with the Ancient of Desire, he's become something that Nedzu christens a "Godling", but mostly because there's nothing like him at all.
  • Blessed with Suck: Being a Godling of Desire grants him a lot of power, but in exchange he's sexually excited by literally everything around him.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: The wider Initiates world views Izuku as a highly competent Initiate, especially since he is a UA Warlord, and would normally have several job offers lined up for him. However, his sexual habits, particularly having regular sex with various demihumans, including a ghoul, is considered a bit of a turn off for them. Most of those still interested have adopted a wait-and-see approach to gauge his overall worth.
  • The Charmer: He can get through stressful situations with his natural charisma (completely without involving his 'unnatural' charisma).
  • Chick Magnet: He has an innate power inherited from his supernatural mother that makes entities of greater magical sensitivity be naturally drawn to him for as long as they have a desire (sexual or not) that he can satisfy. The effect turns from passive draw to MUCH more active one on eye-contact. This is generally considered to be a double-edged sword, because it also changes Izuku to consider said desires as attractive.
  • Conveniently Common Kink: Justified. Izuku's Charm triggers the affected girl's kink with him as the target and causes him to develop the counterpart (for example, he develops a submissive streak in response to Himiko's dominant kink, but only when he's with her).
  • Cool Shades: He wears them to avoid accidentally charming demi-human girls. Sheds them after the encounter with Desire makes them unnecessary.
  • The Corrupter:
    • Played for Laughs, as his aura causes Katsuki to get into polyamory and Shoto to start acknowledging his own (previously non-existent) sexuality.
    • Inverted due to his status as an awakened human, which allowed him to undo corporeal and sanity damage on himself and those around him. Or, if Nedzu's discoveries are true, "corrupt" damaged people back into humanity.
    • Due to the non-linearity of how Powers influence the world, his Desire influence ends up causing people to push for their hidden desires before he becomes the "Godling of Desire".
  • Dating What Daddy Hates: Played with since he was in a relationship with Himiko long before All Might officially adopted him, but his father doesn't like Himiko and prefers to pretend she doesn't exist due to her being a former serial killer.
  • The Dreaded: After the Time Skip, he's starting to acquire this fame. Katsuki, who is his best friend, outright says that Izuku is the school's boss monster, over the Nightmares themselves.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Played for Laughs when he reveals he's got security camera film that demonstrates Himiko is innocent of a recent attack and realizes All Might now suspects him of using the security cameras to record sextapes. If he wanted to record sextapes, he'd use proper cameras that filmed everything from a decent angle and record audio as well!
    • His Extreme Omnisexuality applies to everything - including children, corpses, or animals. He's disgusted by this, and makes the conscious effort to only direct those feelings towards willing lovers.
    • The supersoldier the group finds in the underground chamber is so horrible that even his Extreme Omnisexuality can't find it attractive.
  • Extreme Omnisexual: As he reveals to Asa in Chapter 107, due to the influence of the Ancient of Desire, everything excites him sexually. It takes conscious effort for him to turn that feeling into his actual partners and lovers.
  • Guile Hero:
    • The first hints of his ability to use his wit come when he convinces Toshinori to investigate what happened to Hisashi.
    • He also manages to convince Shoto to help him and the others by pointing out he'd be getting more fun if he was there.
    • He develops the plan to defeat Geten while he and the others are running from him - and is able to pinpoint his Fatal Flaw and how to take advantage of it.
    • When he first meets the Warlords to play politics after he himself becomes one, Izuku manages to hold his own and makes strong impressions on all of them:
      • Saiko shows him deliberate disrespect by ignoring him. Izuku counters by disrespecting her in turn by implying she has poor control over her subordinates by bringing up Geten's attempt to kill them in spite of her orders to not kill anyone. This causes Saiko to reassess Izuku from someone who was just lucky to someone who has actual skill to go with his luck (or at least an awful lot of bravado).
      • Monoma attempts to browbeat him into sending Ibara back to his Exclusion Zone, but Izuku strikes back by stating he might do that only if Monoma willingly takes on the Greater Aberrant he kicked out of the Forest and that has now settled in the Special Exclusion Zone.
      • Kashiko asks Izuku if he wants to ally with her but he recognizes the potential trap of becoming dependent on her and refuses. Kashiko then subtly accuses Izuku of being Shoto's puppet by bringing up Shoto's issues with his father, but the Cabal successfully prove her wrong.
      • Momo tries to be antagonistic with Izuku over him stealing the Tokage Alchemist Cabal from her, but Izuku catches her espionage attempt and strikes a deal with her where he pretends he saw nothing in exchange for her letting the issue go.
  • Hormone-Addled Teenager: If he's in a situation with a beautiful girl around (especially one of supernatural nature), don't expect him to act rationally.
  • Horrifying the Horror: By deactivating his mother's influence, he can unleash a very terrifying aura that somehow came from the Ancient of Malice, capable of making a Greater Aberrant run away in fear and snapping Decay's mind. He loses this aura in the aftermath of the encounter with the Ancient of Desire.
  • Humanoid Abomination: He was originally an awakened human with the influence of Malice and Desire held in balance within him. If the Principal is to be believed, he's no longer human after his encounter with Desire: in fact, he's nothing like anything that has ever existed. The Principal coins the term "Godling of Desire".
  • Hypnotic Eyes: While his mere presence causes demi-humans to consider him extremely attractive, it's his eyes that trigger his full Charm.
  • Hypocritical Humor: When Hatsume states she thought Izuku would demand to have sex with her in exchange of going to Nishiro, Izuku replies that she has killed too many people for his taste. Hatsume doesn't even need to say a word to point out the hypocrisy in that, considering he's married to Himiko.
  • I Know Mortal Kombat: He draws from his Dungeon Master experience and LARPing skills to successfully deal with the Warlords. Somehow, it works.
  • Kavorka Man: Izuku is described as being quite plain-looking, which even he admits - but any demi-human with attraction for males will look at him and consider him incredibly attractive, due to his Charm.
  • Killer Game Master: Him being behind the Dungeon Master screen is enough to cause Katsuki to tremble from the memory.
Bakugou shivers. He still has the trauma. Having Izuku Midoriya be the DM is a mistake people only make once in their life.
  • The Leader: Everyone in the group considers him the leader of the Cabal they have formed. Becomes official when he takes control of the Special Exclusion Zone, making him U.A.'s Fifth Warlord.
  • LGBT Awakening: In Book 1, Izuku identifies as straight, even though he once flirted with Katsuki to get a rise out of him and briefly mentioned that he might be attracted to femboys. Meeting Imai in Book 2, an actual femboy, forces him to realize he isn't as straight as he thought he was, though he heavily denies it.
  • Like a Duck Takes to Water: Some initial hiccups aside, Izuku quickly adapts to the world of Initiates and rises up to become a major name, a situation specifically noted by the narrative to be an outlier among those that were not born Initiates to begin with.
  • Master Actor: According to Katsuki, their previous school's theatre club almost tried to conscript him because Izuku was quite good. He uses those skills to get through the Warlords' Summit.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: He has some serious issues with his libido being triggered by stuff that should scare him. Eventually, he decides to embrace it.
  • No Hero to His Valet: The rest of U.A. is convinced Izuku is a way too powerful figure that they aren't keen on irritating. Meanwhile, Katsuki regularly Dope Slaps him, Shoto regularly tricks him or considers him an entertainment, Himiko teases him to keep him horny, and even Ochako can convince him to do anything by pulling a few threads.
  • One-Man Army: Post timeskip, he is capable of soloing Spider of the Forest of Red and slaying it in single combat in thirty seconds flat, a creature Monoma's entire cabal could only drive off after a long battle.
  • Polyamory: He's in a threesome with Himiko and Ochako - with the option to sometimes include other girls.
  • Puppet King: Discussed. Kashiko Sekigai subtly implies Izuku is Shoto's puppet but they quickly and thoroughly prove her wrong.
  • Really Gets Around: After the Time Skip, he's revealed to have had sex with (apart from Ochako and Himiko) Shiozaki, Komori, Hagakure, and Ko Yotsubashi, has an "interesting" relationship with Soma Michiko, and it's implied the list is longer. He gets called "Monsterlayer" because most of them are demihumans, and the one known exception is an undead. All Might reveals a partial list of Izuku's sexual partners in Chapter 84. It contains 47 individuals, one of them a possible ghost girl that inhabits a chat room, with whom he intensely sexts with, and several different species of demihumans that are first mentioned this way.
  • Red Baron: The MLF knows him as the "Blasphemy-That-Walks". After the Time Skip, he becomes known as "Monsterlayer".
  • Sex for Services: Izuku gets Ochako to do all sorts of things in exchange for rewarding her with sex. Katsuki cites the reward as one of the few things that can get Ochako to do anything that isn't focusing on or otherwise related to Izuku.
  • Sherlock Scan: While he's far from an expert, he is good at analyzing what he sees, noticing things such as Jirou of Yaoyorozu's Cabal using sound magic to act as a Living Lie Detector, which not even Shoto had realized.
  • Supernatural Fear Inducer: He has a fear-inducing aura that offsets against and is suppressed by his charm aura. Unsuppressed, it is so potent it scares away a Category Seven Greater Aberrant and breaks a Magister's mind. Izuku loses this aura after his ascension into a Godling.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: He and Katsuki will take the mickey, insult, bring up embarrassing moments and even hit - but they are 100% loyal to each other and always have each other's back.
  • Weirdness Magnet: Much to his chagrin, things keep happening around him, and he keeps coming out of the other side stronger - making everyone else mystified as he does so. Shoto calls this "The Midoriya Experience".
  • Wrong Context Magic: As the Godling of Desire, something new and unprecedented, he can twist the spells of Lores other than that of Desire to fit closer to the theme of Desire, such as making one summoning spell summon his girlfriend.

Katsuki Bakugo

Izuku's best, oldest friend, he's also a student at U.A., where he does his best to keep his best friend's head above water. Wielding his common sense (a rarity in a world where little makes sense), smarts, a fiery temper, and loyalty to his friends, Katsuki intends to make sure that the dangers of the world behind the Masquerade won't stop them from surviving.
  • Determinator: He's incredibly stubborn, and will never put less than 100% to anything he does. He ends up weaponizing this effect by learning magic that scales up according to one's willpower and stubbornness.
  • Dope Slap: Delivers them when Izuku or Shoto (and sometimes the girls) do something stupid. Which is quite common, and very fitting of his position as the only cabalite with something resembling a common sense.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Not as bad as that of his canon version, but he's prone to exploding when angry. Especially when someone doubts his ability to think clearly and approach issues calmly.
  • In the Blood: Played for Laughs when he learns (much to his horror) that his father, much like him now, once was in a polyamorous relationship with his mother, the latter's sister, and two female friends of theirs.
  • The Lancer: He acts as Izuku's counterbalance within the Cabal, being unashamed to call him out if he's too stupid. Which happens about every other chapter.
  • Like a Duck Takes to Water: Much like Izuku, Katsuki quickly makes himself a big name in the world of Initiates, which is particularly impressive when he only learned of the Masquerade during high school.
  • The Nicknamer: He never bothers with using people's names. Consider yourself lucky if he just gives you a mildly unflattering nickname.
  • No Yay: In-Universe, any instance of someone enticing him to a homosexual relationship will cause him to almost retch in disgust.
  • Not So Above It All: He might be the Cabal's Only Sane Man, but he also does stupid stuff.
    • He convinced Aiko to state "I came here to pet Tsuyu... and end Mankind. And I don’t see Tsuyu." when she meets Toshinori.
    • When Shoto sends him to buy a vehicle for the cabalites to move around with, Shoto expected something like a jeep. Katsuki bought a huge military armored patrol vehicle. Izuku later has to bring Toshinori in to keep Katsuki from driving it to his dates.
    • When Izuku mentions he's learned how shoggoths taste like from watching a cooking TV show, Katsuki calls him a dumbass for getting excited about it - and promptly asks how shoggoths taste like.
  • Only Sane Man: Everybody else agrees he's the one person with any sort of common sense in the Cabal. Bakugou himself is deeply confused by the fact, complaining about being the sole reasonable one despite him not supposed to be the reasonable one.
  • Polyamory: To his own slight confusion he ends up being romantically involved with both Moe Kamiji and Fuyumi Todoroki. Although it's rather clear that it's mostly because Shoto Todoroki asked him to give dating them a try with an intent of hopefully one of the relationships working, only for Bakugou to decide that giving up on one of them wasn't in his style.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: He turns the air blue almost every time he speaks. He appears to be able to control it when Fuyumi is involved.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: He and Izuku spend a good part of their time laughing at each other, insulting each other, and at times even hitting each other - but make no mistake, they are completely loyal to each other and always have each other's back.

Himiko Toga

A fellow student at U.A. in Izuku's and Katsuki's class, she's (unknown to them both at first) a ghoul who preys on students who know about magic to feed herself. She becomes the one who introduces Izuku to the magical world and its dangers - and somehow falls in love with him before she can try to make a meal out of him.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: What she shares of her past does not paint it with a good light.
  • Demoted to Satellite Love Interest: Invoked post time-skip. Himiko wants to be seen as little more than Izuku's girlfriend. The less people remember she's an actual man-eating monster, the better. It's not working, given the existence of a Himiko Toga Tracking Server created by Kuroiro that both baseline humans and demihumans are part of where people report her sightings.
  • Finger Poke of Doom: She can unleash her Skin Removal with great effect. Geten learns of it.
  • Forgiven, but Not Forgotten: Because of her association with Izuku, no one tries to punish her or otherwise get rid of her for her murders, but no one will ever forget it, to the point there is an entire discord server dedicated to keeping watch on her. All Might himself would have gotten rid of her if she wasn't literally and figuratively in bed with his son.
  • Hormone-Addled Teenager: After falling for Izuku, she seems to be really horny, 24/7. Izuku suspects she does this because she might have learned how to interact with other people through hentai manga.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: She can only gain sustenance from human (or demihuman) flesh. Following a rather traumatic encounter with a Greater Aberrant, she appears to have switched to eating only as much as she needs to stay healthy AND stick to devolved demihumans that lack sapience where possible.
  • Kinky Role-Playing: Izuku offers to role play as prey for Himiko for Their First Time.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After the encounter with the Greater Aberrant, Izuku speaks with what may be pre-ghoulification Himiko, who is horrified for everything she's done since her transformation.
  • Our Ghouls Are Different: She became a ghoul after overdoing the magic she learned from the Ancient of Flesh, and she can only eat human flesh (or demi-human, depending on the source). She can also reshape her flesh (to a degree) on a fly, allowing her to be impossibly agile, has increased strength and can manifest rather nasty claws. Her mouth can also split wider than it should.
  • Rooting for the Empire: In-Universe. When watching horror movies with Izuku, Himiko roots for the villain slaughtering the heroes. Ochako thinks this is entirely to do with her being a man-eating ghoul.
  • Schmuck Bait: She's considered an unofficial test for U.A. Initiates. If the student follows the unknown girl to a place away from any witnesses, then they are Too Dumb to Live and are better off dying quickly to her rather than dying (or worse) when they face an Eldritch Abomination.
  • The Vamp: Loves teasing Izuku and driving him up the wall.

Shoto Todoroki

A veteran Black Course U.A. student, Shoto Todoroki is widely regarded as one of the greatest students at the school, having gone through the entire five-year curriculum in two years. Mystified by Izuku's survival to meeting with Toga, he decides to affix himself to Izuku and his friends due to the entertainment they provide.
  • The Ace: One of U.A.'s best students in the current generation, so good he skipped the Candidacy Period for the Black Course and complete the actual Black Course in two years instead of the expected five.
  • Aloof Ally: He initially only associated with Izuku's Cabal because he thought they were entertaining. Later on, he became genuinely interested in Midoriya's nature and, eventually, joined the Cabal fully following Midoriya's ascension to the seat of the Fifth Warlord.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: He is a... very unique individual, which doesn't stop him from being extremely competent Initiate and an ace student of UA. The best summary is him taking a handful of coca cola cans to a trip to abandoned mental hospital (that he tends to drink when observing something particularly hilarious happening), only to use one of them alongside his ice magic as an arguably lethal magical grenade.
  • The Comically Serious: He can't express emotions properly, but somehow that makes him hilarious.
  • Evil Laugh: His laugh sounds so mechanical it's incredibly creepy. Todoroki appears to be entirely aware of that fact, which doesn't stop him from laughing when applicable.
  • The Gadfly: He has no shame in tricking Izuku for the lulz. At least partially, he's doing it to counter the side-effects of his magic that make him emotionally cold, which Shoto clearly resents.
  • Hates Their Parent: Shoto hates his father and spites him when he can. This trait of his is a known fact in UA.
  • An Ice Person: Most of his magic comes from the Aspect of Ice of the Primordial of Water.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Him taking of Izuku's sunglasses to Charm Michiko Soma is universally regarded as a dick move by everyone, including Izuku who benefited from that stunt. He earns himself a lifetime feud from House Soma that even Izuku admits his friend deserved.
  • Mr. Exposition: Due to his knowledge and experience, he's usually the one teaching Izuku and Katsuki the ropes on the world behind the Masquerade.
  • Pass the Popcorn: If something funny is happening or about to happen, he will either bring out a bag of popcorn or a can of cola.
  • Polyamory: After the Summit, he enters a relationship with Intelli and Yaoyorozu.
  • Properly Paranoid: Recruits Hagakure to spy on Hatsume after realizing there were too many flags about her behavior. Turns out she was in contact with Decay.
  • Put on a Bus: After the Time Skip, he's revealed to be away in training to prepare to become a Magister.
  • Rules Lawyer: Mind control is forbidden during summits of magical factions per SPSC rules, but Shoto manages to get away with utilising Izuku's Charm by explaining it falls under an exclusion for "passive influences". Demihumans and Aberrants capable of mind-control are not able to take advantage of it, but Shoto explains Izuku is legally human and therefore could.
  • The Smart Guy: He's the most knowledgeable of the Cabal when it comes down to the supernatural, and Izuku has no problem in taking advantage of this by asking about important stuff.
  • The Unsmile: When he smiles after he spends the night with Intelli and Yaoyorozu, Izuku notes that it looks completely foreign.

Ochako Uraraka

Another of Izuku's classmates, she presents herself to him some time after they both join the Black Course due to him being someone she knows from their previous school - although Izuku doesn't remember her. Highly devoted to Izuku, she hides a great secret about herself that could easily change her life if it became known.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: She was friends with Izuku since they were kids, and is currently in a relationship with him.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: Loves to do this when Izuku's looking good. It is an actual form of sustenance for her.
  • Every Man Has His Price: Agrees to help Shoto wrangle Izuku into a suit because Shoto pointed out she'd get to see Izuku wearing a suit - and several photos of Izuku wearing a suit.
  • Gravity Master: Her two first spells allow her to control the effects of gravity on herself or anything she touches. She later expands on this to other spells of the same family, such as gravity-based shields.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: She'd love to keep Izuku all to herself, but she understands that he wouldn't be happy if that were to happen.
  • In Love with Your Carnage: After seeing Izuku brutally kill the Spider, Ochako gets very horny.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: When she died and revived as a Stalker, the Censor caused Izuku to not just forget her, but stop seeing her, which caused her to hit the Rage Breaking Point because she believed he was just ignoring her. Then an Initiate stopped her and told her what had happened. She's felt incredibly guilty since then, which has driven a good part of her character for a long time.
  • Perpetual-Motion Monster: As a Stalker, she's this. She cannot be fully killed, she needs no sleep, no food and no water, and will continue to exist for as long as Izuku is alive and loves her. Izuku learns the 'no exhaustion' thing when he attempts to leave her sexually satisfied...
  • Property of Love: Following her reveal as a Stalker she ends up wearing a collar proclaiming her the property of Izuku, which she absolutely loves. Of course, by the standards of the magical world the statement on the collar is just a description of truth.
  • Revenant Zombie: She's a variation called a Stalker, empowered by her romantic feelings for Izuku. She will only die permanently if Izuku dies or he truthfully stops loving her.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Her entire character revolves around being near Izuku and loving him and getting loved by him in turn. Justified since due to her nature as a Stalker, she is completely uninterested in being anything more unless Izuku gives her the incentive to.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Izuku is the only person she loves. Due to her nature as a Stalker, she's hard-locked into this.
  • Spanner in the Works: The nature of how she became a Stalker (namely, that the Censor locked her out of his childhood friends' memories) causes Malice's plans to hit a big snag. You see, Malice had expected that making her a Sex Slave to Izuku would make him fully embrace his Desire side, but being Censored caused her to change, and by the time she was able to reenter Izuku's life he was able to balance his Desire with everything else.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Big time this for Izuku, before finally getting her feelings answered. It included stealing his things and surrounding herself with a sneakily taken pictures of him.
  • Undying Loyalty: Utterly loyal to Izuku, no matter what.
  • Wrong Context Magic: Due to circumstances - mostly guilt she feels towards almost killing Izuku over a misunderstanding - she acts in a manner unlike most other Stalkers.
  • Yandere: She loves Izuku so much that she didn't shy away from trying to murder Himiko Toga over her getting too close to 'her' Izuku.

Tooru Hagakure

A young Initiate whose magic of the Ancient of Reflections allows her to turn invisible to spy on people. Shoto recruits her as an ally for Izuku's Cabal.
  • Drives Like Crazy: She loves driving wildly, having once drove an armored car on one of the Special Exclusion Zone's roads at the average speed of 150km/h. And she tried to drift at every turn. She's the reason Izuku had to put speed limits in his domain.
  • Invisibility: Her magic lets her cast an illusion to make herself invisible. After becoming a mirrorling, she can become this almost 24/7.
  • Invisible Streaker: More often than not, she prefers not to wear clothes. Particularly if she is on her own or just with Izuku.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Her kink seems to be exhibitionism, and engages in it with abandon. She actually encourages Izuku to keep looking at her.
  • Spanner in the Works: She distracts Hatsume away from Maijima, allowing the teacher to destroy the hard drive Hatsume was using to steal U.A.'s data.
  • The Spymaster: During the time skip, she becomes Izuku's Intelligence Officer.

Aiko Yagi

In appearance, a ten-year-old girl with an overly literal mind, a penchant for strange behavior, and an attachment to Izuku. In reality, the Outsider of Existence, an entity with vast powers that could easily undo anyone she dislikes. Izuku's Cabal meets her after an accidental trip to the Bone Dust Desert Elsewhere, where she lives trapped in a ziggurat.
  • Chekhov's Skill: Her ability to undo corporeal and mental damage caused by learning spells, which she uses to partially restore Shoto's ability to express his feelings, lets her kill an Inalco Magister, as a Magister's body is magical as a whole, and losing spells causes his body to come apart.
  • Defeating the Undefeatable: She manages to kill Zyklon, a Magister with speciality in the Lore of Filth, by pulling his spells out of his mind.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Most certainly this. While outwardly she appears to look like human and later on learns how to act like a human (well, more or less), her nature is that of an eldritch abomination.
  • The Gadfly: She amuses herself with spreading rumours, both real and false, on UA's social media, and pulling the leg of pretty much everyone around her. She especially loves messing with her brother, such as by making him squirm by revealing she has a lot of sex with a girl that he himself once had sex with.
  • Humanoid Abomination: She's an Eldritch Abomination that takes up the form of a ten-year-old girl to be able to be with her "oniichan" and his friends without ripping their minds apart. Taken to a logical extreme with the reveal that she is, in fact, an Outsider of Human Existence, making her a literal Humanoid Abomination.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: When Decay and Overhaul attack U.A., she leaves her cathedral to face the latter in combat.
  • Literal-Minded: Since she hasn't lived amongst humans, she has a hard time understanding context and gives Mathematicians Answers to questions one would expect more nuance from. She does get better with time.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Reveals in Chapter 39 that she and Izuku are full-blooded siblings.
  • Meaningful Rename: She officially adopts the family name of Yagi as hers due to her viewing Toshinori Yagi as a father figure and wishing to see the look on his face when he hears other people calling her by that name.
  • Older Than They Look: She looks like a ten-year-old girl, but she's about Izuku's age. At least until the Time Skip.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Aiko is normally easygoing and fun-loving, so her being absolutely serious during the group therapy session for Asa's Cabal makes them very silent and unwilling to talk back against her.
  • Pass the Popcorn: Much to Izuku and Katsuki's chagrin, Shoto's influence causes her to replace him in this role while he's Put on a Bus.
  • Power Misidentification: To hide that she is a Demi-Power to those not allowed to know, she pretends to merely be a talented mage of the Lore of Mercy.
  • Ret-Gone: Her Domain is Human Existence - she can do this to people: the less attached they are to other people, the easier it is for her to erase them.
  • Semi-Divine: As an Outsider of Existence, she is generally considered in-universe to be a god, although a lesser one when compared to the nigh-omnipotent Powers. She is also remarkably human, despite that.
  • She Is All Grown Up: After the Time Skip, she now looks as old as Izuku.
  • Spanner in the Works: Her presence prevents Overhaul from catching the teachers in a pincer move, giving Toshinori the time he needs to keep Decay distracted while Togata brings him the artifacts he needs to become a Magister - which was also possible thanks to Aiko's knowledge.
  • The Worf Effect: She is defeated and nearly killed by Overhaul, showing that, for all her power, she still has to learn how to use it effectively - and that human mages do have the power to deal with entities like her.
  • You Remind Me of X: Both Izuku and Shoto remark on how she mentally resembles the latter. After the Time Skip, she picks up his Pass the Popcorn Running Gag.

Maina Furasu

A competent artificer who joined Izuku's Cabal during the time skip.
  • Sanity Has Advantages: It is noted that one advantage she has over Hatsume is that she is a lot more down to earth compared to the maniacal Hatsume.

    Izuku's Cabal's Allies
People that, while not being a part of Izuku's Cabal, are nonetheless linked with them, in one or another way.

Tsuyu

A frog demi-human girl who lives in U.A.'s lake. Izuku meets her when he and Katsuki walk up nearby, and manages to make a rapport with her thanks to his charm and his willingness to treat with her unlike most other people.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: What she likes to have Izuku give her. Izuku appears to absolutely love headpatting her in return.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Nice girl that she is, she will not hesitate to kill anyone that threatens her or the people she likes. Her method of killing someone also results in no one realising the deaths are because of her.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: She's a very nice frog demi-human who happens to be deadly when underwater (enough that she could easily be the Nightmare of Water) thanks to the one spell she knows - and has killed quite a few people using it.
  • Cute Monster Girl: She's a frog demi-human girl that appears cute enough to warrant Izuku do his utmost to protect her and giver her as many headpats as humanly possible to keep her happy.
  • The Paralyzer: Tsuyu knows only one spell, one that allows her to discharge a mucus that paralyzes people.
  • Smarter Than They Look: Before meeting Izuku, no one even knew she was sapient - she was instead treated by the students and faculty as pretty much an animal living in the lake in the middle of the school, up to the point of people throwing bread at her.
  • Spanner in the Works: Her habit of hoarding stuff thrown into the lake, and Izuku managing to establish a rapport with her, allow U.A. to discover someone has been spying on the school.
    • She also saves Yo Shindo from drowning by getting him out of the lake and performing CPR. This allows the teachers to determine that the Serial Killer attacking Initiates is using mind control of some kind.

Ibara Shiozaki

A dryad girl who is known around the Black Course as the "Nightmare of Leaves" due to her powers and her ability to control people through her spores. Hiding her identity even from her closest companions, she hopes to find a way to be free from danger and perhaps become able to have her own forest.
  • The Ace: Shoto states she's one of the best dryads he's ever heard of, in spite of her youth. The event that ended with her obtaining the nickname of Nightmare of Leaves appears to prove him right.
  • Atrocious Alias: Katsuki gives her the nickname of "Pregnancy Fetishist" due to her desire to be impregnated by Izuku. While upset by it, Ibara can't really dispute it.
  • Casual Kink: She has a pregnancy fetish, but the story does not make a big deal of it. Until she gets pregnant after the Time Skip.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: She manipulated Setsuna Tokage's cabal to stay hidden for months, only to discover - once she was outed - that the manipulation might have been entirely unnecessary all along. It's a very awkward discovery.
  • The Dreaded: She is feared as the Nightmare of Leaves due to wiping out a Warlord and their entire Cabal when they tried to kill her.
  • My Biological Clock Is Ticking: Izuku's Charm causes her to want to become pregnant.
  • More than Mind Control: She uses her spores to mildly direct Setsuna's Cabal, so they will still push for their objective but in such a way that that will leave her protected.
  • Plant Person: She's a dryad, a literal walking human-shaped tree. You can hardly get this trope to be in effect more than that.
  • Properly Paranoid: She makes sure to show everyone the evacuation protocols for the Green Tower and that they must be kept secret from the general population. When the MLF attacks the Tower, they have much less casualties than they would have thanks to this.

Setsuna's Cabal

Setsuna Tokage

A skilled alchemist who seeks to improve her ability to craft new products in order to learn for her post-Black Course career. Works from her Ghost Town base/greenhouse, technically paying homage to Yaoyorozu, but will deal with anyone willing to pay for her products. After Ibara joins Izuku's Cabal, she decides to switch allegiances to him, particularly after he is willing to provide better infrastructure for her work and access to new raw materials.
  • Death by Adaptation: She is killed by the Inalco mercenaries invading U.A., getting shot in the head before she could take cover.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Leaves Yaoyorozu's Cabal when Izuku offers her a better deal. Even before that, she was clearly not enjoying her de facto servitude to Yaoyorozu.

Kinoko Komori

A teenager with a passion for gardening, she works for Tokage as the supplier of plants that can be used in alchemy.
  • Casual Kink: She seems to have a pregnancy fetish, much like Shiozaki - which she begins to fulfill during the Time Skip by getting pregnant from Izuku.
  • Death by Adaptation: She dies in the MLF's second attack, when the Green Tower gets hit by incendiary missiles.
  • Plant Person: She becomes a dryad shortly after her Cabal moves to the Special Exclusion Zone, finally realizing her long-term dream.

Mina Ashido

Her appearance altered by permanent corporal damage (giving her shocking pink skin and a pair of horns), she acts as Tokage's apprentice in the art of alchemy and the point of contact with anyone interested in her Cabal's products.
  • Making a Splash: She uses magic of the Primordial of Water, but something makes it so she instead creates acid. This helps her during the Mankind Liberation Front's second assault on U.A., as when she uses a water spell on the invaders the target figures he won't be hurt by a little water.
  • Our Nymphs Are Different: Due to her heavy use of magic during the MLF assault, she becomes an acid nymph.
  • Odd Couple: She's in a relationship with Eijiro Kirishima, a fact described as slightly odd due to both magicks influencing personalities in completely opposite direction. Even after they become demihumans, they are clearly still in love with each other.

Eijiro Kirishima

The enforcer and physical protector of Tokage's Cabal. Uses magic of the Primordial of Earth to harden his skin and make himself sturdier.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: He uses magic of the Primordial of Earth.
  • Golem: Due to his heavy use of magic during the MLF assault, he becomes a stone golem.
  • Odd Couple: He's in a relationship with Mina Ashido, despite the two of them having practically opposite personalities. Even after they become demihumans, they are clearly still in love with each other.

Inasa Yoarashi

A young Initiate from Shiketsu that transfers to U.A. in the aftermath of the Mankind Liberation Front's attack on Japan's magical schools. Works for Izuku as the head of checkpoint guards.
  • Deadpan Snarker: When Hagakure screams at him that she's driving to thump his mother in the ass, he replies (also screaming) that the answer is incorrect because his mother does not live in the direction Hagakure is driving for.
  • Death by Adaptation: Dies during the Jaku General Hospital incident because one Cultist has a Gift that gave them the ability to produce poisonous gas which killed him and his friends.
  • No Indoor Voice: He just loves to shout, and will do so even if he's speaking through the phone or with someone right next to him. Izuku considers it surprising that he isn't a sound mage.
    Asa's Cabal

In General

Led by Asa, the Cabal is ordered to form due to the members being the only ones among the students sorted to the Special Exclusion Zone willing to work in a mixed human and demihuman group.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: Subverted. They almost splinter with Yoshihiro desiring to leave but Aiko forces group therapy on them to work on their internal issues, starting with the most critical.
  • Dysfunction Junction: The entire Cabal is a mess and to Aiko's consternation, Ko the Flawed Celestial, who would normally be killed on sight for being a Flawed Celestial, is the most well-adjusted member of the lot. Aiko suspects Tagawa was planning to murder some of her former Seiai schoolmates before the MLF did that for her. Yoshihiro is on the autism spectrum and never received support for it because most of his family and especially his mother is shit. Asa is a traumatised wreck due to almost being eaten by a Greater Aberrant. Takei is very likely a half-aberrant of Strife and if he loses control of his temper, everyone is in danger. Rini Naoki is the biggest problem of all. Her claims of being a demihuman are false, and her nature is not as simple as being a Stalker like Ochako. Aiko is certain telling Asa the truth about Rini is going to end in someone dying. Strangely, they are so dysfunctional that it loops back around to being somewhat functional when they all bond over being messed up people and making a pact to ruin the day of any Flesh Cultist they come across.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: All of them besides Oracle are glad for Juggernaut bringing them alcohol to deal with Oracle being affectionate to his brother's Sludge child.
  • Party of Representatives: The whole point of their formation as a Cabal is to invoke this trope. They are made up of the only new students willing to work in a mixed human-demihuman group: U.A. needs them to succeed as a Cabal, in order to show others that not only is coexistence possible, but able to benefit all groups.

Asa Shigaraki

A transfer student from Ketsubutsu. Voted as the leader of the Cabal. He is Izuku's and Aiko's full-blooded brother. He nicknames himself Rabbit.
  • Abusive Parents: Rini doesn't go into detail, but Asa's mother is bad. When he becomes the Godling of Malice, Asa happily turns his newfound skills on her.
  • Adaptation Name Change: Asa's family name is Midoriya in Mirrond's other stories. Here, his surname is Shigaraki.
  • Ambiguous Gender: After fusing with Rini, he now looks androgynous. His own brother is unable to be sure of Asa's gender.
  • Ambiguously Human: Much like his brother Izuku, he's now a Godling.
  • Badass Adorable: He's acknowledged as being quite adorable, even after becoming the Godling of Malice.
  • Blood Knight: To Oracle's surprise, in spite of his social anxiety, Asa is perfectly at home when their cabal is fighting the Machine Avatar.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: Asa wets himself from sheer terror at almost being eaten by Serpentine Hound of the Black Forest.
  • The Corrupter: Much like how Izuku becoming a Godling caused him to influence people in the past, so does Asa - but his corruption instead induces things like the Spider's appearance during the Hornet subjugation or the fight at Jaku Hospital.
  • Little Bit Beastly: After fusing with Rini, he is now sporting bunny ears and legs.
  • Living MacGuffin: He is important to Malice's plans to resurrect.
  • Long-Lost Relative: Aiko drops the bombshell he is hers and Izuku's brother soon after All Might brings him to Izuku's attention.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: After becoming the Godling of Malice, he acquires a taste for horror movies.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Takei knows him from their old school's knitting club.
  • Shrinking Violet: He's very shy, preferring to let Rini speak for him.
  • Supernatural Fear Inducer: Because he shares the same parents as Izuku, he also has a fear-inducing aura that caused an attempt to cast a mind-control spell to backfire horribly on the caster.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Becomes the Godling of Malice during the MLF's assault on the Special Exclusion Zone.
  • Tranquil Fury: After becoming the Godling of Malice, he very calmly and very furiously asks where Hitoshi Shinso is right now.

Rini Naoki

A rabbit-kin demihuman. Knew Asa before she enrolled in UA's newly formed Green Course.
  • Ambiguously Human: According to Aiko, Rini is not actually a demihuman, but she doesn't say what she actually is. It is later revealed she's actually a part of Asa who got split of due to his trauma of almost being eaten by the Serpentine Hound.
  • Berserk Button: People insulting Asa is a fast way to get on her bad side.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: To save Asa from his injuries, she gives up her existence as an independent being from Asa.
  • Literal Split Personality: Rini is actually a part of Asa, and due to the Lore of Transfiguration, his trauma from almost getting killed by the Serpentine Hound resulted in her creation.
  • Living MacGuffin: She is important to Malice's plans to resurrect.
  • Luminescent Blush: Blushes mightily when Yotsubashi asks if she and Asa are a couple.
  • Mouth of Sauron: She speaks for Asa until he manages to get through his shyness and speak up on his own.
  • Undying Loyalty: She's very loyal to Asa.

Ko Yotsubashi

A demihuman of the Ancient of Days, and daughter of a wealthy industrialist. She nicknames herself Oni.
  • Abled in the Adaptation: In Mirrond's other stories, Ko is wheelchair-bound and blind. Here, she has no such disabilities.
  • All Women Are Lustful: She really enjoyed the "special" part of her interview with Izuku, and when Aiko reveals her attraction to her, she more than welcomes it.
  • Fatal Flaw: Lust and Wrath. It's actually tied to her status as a Fallen Celestial.
  • Hard Light: Her Celestial powers allow her to create barriers of hard light that can be used to block objects. When Zyklon tries to gas her, she manages to block the gas by blocking her nose and mouth with small barriers, and then uses another barrier to slice off the Magister's arm.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: She unleashes her true form as a Fallen Celestial when the Spider of the Forest of Red attacks the group.
  • Wrong Context Magic: Due to how absurdly dangerous they can be, Fallen Celestials tend to be put down the moment they acquire one Flaw. Ko somehow has two, and yet remains capable of having a normal life.

Miyuki Tagawa

A transfer student from Seiai, a mage of the Lore of Filth, Aspect of Poison. She nicknames herself Toxicity.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Dies saving the Suicide Mission members from a group of junkies (zombies of people dying of a drug overdose) who had successfully drugged the others.
  • No-Sell: The Aspect of Poison has spells that allows her to resist contaminants, including a dryad's Mind Control spores.

Takei Ryuu

A transfer student from Ketsubutsu, he knew Asa beforehand. He shuns magic, using only glyphs. He nicknames himself Juggernaut.
  • Ambiguously Human: Aiko notes he has suspiciously inhuman strength for a Glyphs-only user. She eventually theorizes he's actually half-aberrant.
  • Even the Guys Want Him: He's mentioned to be quite attractive, with no distinction on the gender of who's asking him out.
  • Gentle Giant: He's 210 cm tall (6'10'') and quiet-spoken.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Aiko theorizes one of his parents is an Aberrant of Strife, making Takei himself only half-human. Chapter 96 fully confirms this with Oracle thinking that a Warmonger is the most likely candidate.
  • The Heart: Juggernaut is one of the reasons the Cabal is able to stay together due to his wholesome presence. It is partially in his memory that the Cabal stays together following his death.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He saves Rabbit from being killed by the Machine Avatar, giving the rest of the cabal enough time to meet back with Midoriya, at the cost of his own life.
  • Morality Chain Beyond the Grave: His Cabal mates make a promise to be better friends in his memory in the aftermath of his death.
  • Mr. Fanservice: In the thirty minutes he and Rai took to find where the Green Tower stands, one person asks him out and another two come to ask for "workout tips" while Eating the Eye Candy. Takei implies that, in Ketsubutsu, he was asked out at least twice a day.
  • The Quiet One: He speaks very little.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: He's a tall and muscular guy, but he likes knitting to the shock of Ko, Miyuki and Rai.
  • Supernatural Fear Inducer: Because of his Aberrant of Strife heritage, he has the ability to intimidate people through sheer rage. Its potency causes Aiko to realise his Aberrant parent must be a powerful Aberrant of Strife, like a Warmonger or High Legionnaire.

Yoshihiro Rai

Son of the Magister who is the head of the SPSC's Anti-Demihuman Death Squad. A mage of the Lore of Secrets. He nicknames himself Oracle.
  • Condescending Compassion: Played with. Rai was completely sincere when he tries to be sympathetic to the fact that Tagawa is a bully victim, but because he sucks at communicating, she interpreted it as him being rude to her until Aiko informs them all she suspects Rai is on the Autism Spectrum.
  • Embarrassing Hobby: He loves idols, but will never admit that in front of his cabal mates.
  • Hates Their Parent: He hates his mother, and accepted the idea of working together with demihumans as a way to spite her despite his own dislike of demihumans.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Bigot that he is, he rightfully points out the problem with what Aiko and Ko did. If it comes out that Flawed Celestials can convincingly pretend to not be flawed, the most likely public reaction is that baseline humans will treat every Celestial as if they are flawed, worsening the lot of all Celestials. Aiko notes that his ability to point out when the rest of them are being idiots and call them out on it is another reason why it is a good idea to keep Rai in the Cabal.
  • Mouth of Sauron: Picks this role as Asa's representative when Rini's penchant for shouting at other people won't work.
  • Not So Above It All: He tricks Kinoko into thinking there's a faceless person behind her, and cracks up laughing when she falls for it.
    The Warlords
U.A.'s four most feared students, they ruthlessly control four zones of U.A.'s Campus known as the Exclusion Zones through their Cabals and other subordinates.

Yaoyorozu's Cabal

Momo Yaoyorozu

Yaoyorozu comes from an old, wealthy family of Initiates, and is equipped with a prodigious intellect that makes her an extraordinary strategist and able to provide her Cabal with the best available equipment, thanks to her magic of the Shaper of Matter. Her Cabal controls the Ghost Town.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Discovers she might not be as straight as she thought when she makes out with Intelli to entice Shoto into a relationship.
  • Covert Pervert: Despite coming from the wizard equivalent of nobility, she sees no issues with sending her nude photographs to Shoto Todoroki in attempts to seduce him. Said photos appear to suggest that she's interested in cosplay and pet play, too.
  • Put on a Bus: She's said to have graduated at some point during the Time Skip.

Kyouka Jirou

A young girl with short black hair. Specializes in sound magic.
  • Living Lie Detector: She can use sound magic to hear a person's heart and determine if they're lying. She uses it on Yaoyorozu's orders during the Summit, only for Izuku to notice it.

Denki Kaminari

A young man with electric yellow hair. Compliments some serious fighting skills with thunder magic.
  • Death by Adaptation: He kills himself under highly suspicious circumstances which leads people to suspect he was murdered through mind control.

Tenya Iida

A scion of an old family of Initiates. Wields the power of the Archon of War.
  • Brutal Honesty: He bluntly tells Izuku that if Izuku was going to have anyone from Tenya's Cabal killed, it would have been Jirou since she knows something Izuku wants kept secret and therefore, he actually has a motive.
  • By-the-Book Cop: His reaction to Yaoyorozu admitting that she was using Jirou as a Living Lie Detector implies this.
  • Rank Up: During the time skip, after Momo graduated, he replaces her as the Warlord of the Ghost Town Exclusion Zone.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He correctly points out that the Demihumans and their supporters have no motive in killing Kaminari, but also rightfully advises Izuku that the bigots will not care, ignoring logic in favour of their biases.

Monoma's Cabal

Neito Monoma

A smug young man, Monoma came to fame by leading a raid to force the Spider of the Forest of Red to leave the Black Forest Zone, which his Cabal now controls. With a chip on his shoulder regarding better established families, he can use the power of the Ancient of Reflections to temporarily copy other people's magic.
  • It's All About Me: One of the chips in his shoulder is that the other Warlords are into Shoto instead of him.

Itsuka Kendo

Wields the power of the Ancient of Strife.

Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu

Utilizes the power of the Primordial of Metal to harden his skin.

Intelli's Cabal

Saiko Intelli

Aristocratic, smart, and wealthy, Intelli's easily able to keep up with others thanks to her skills and knowledge - as well as the magic from the Ancient of Control, which she can use to mind control enemies and summon minions. Her Cabal controls most of the Frozen Hell.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Discovers she might not be as straight as she thought when she makes out with Yaoyorozu to entice Shoto into a relationship.
  • Covert Pervert: She acts like a noble would... in public. In private, if Shoto is to be believed, she's a dominatrix.
  • Death by Adaptation: Dies in the Suicide Mission to an arrow piercing her head.

Hitoshi Shinsou

The only survivor of a Cabal that attempted to kill Himiko, he only survived because he signed up (under unfavourable conditions) with Intelli.
  • Boomerang Bigot: He hates demihumans in spite of being one himself. If anything, becoming a Mentat only made his hatred worse.
  • Control Freak: Becoming a Demihuman of Control locks him into this path.
  • The Mole: He's the one that has been killing people in the Special Exclusion Zone to frame demi-humans.
  • Never My Fault:
    • At no point does he consider that the deaths of his friends at the hands of Himiko and him escaping that only by becoming Saiko's indentured servant is at least partially due to he and his friends being overconfident idiots in trying to take on someone out of their league when Himiko would have otherwise ignored them.
    • As he runs away from Rabbit and his brainwashed minions keep dropping off dead, he complains that he's Surrounded by Idiots, never once considering that maybe it was his control of them that made them less capable.
  • Rewarded as a Traitor Deserves: What Rabbit did to him is never shown, but he left "what was left of him alive" in the forest to be eaten by the animals. "What was left of him" was enough to make Aizawa (the guy that let Himiko kill another student in front of him without a care) puke at the sight before giving him a Mercy Kill.
  • Serial Killer: Hitoshi is confirmed to be the one responsible for all the murders in the Special Exclusion Zone and framing demihumans for them.

Sekigai's Cabal

Kashiko Sekigai

The newest of the Warlords at the beginning of the story. Formerly part of Saiko Intelli's Cabal before they parted on amenable terms and she struck on her own. She uses the magic of the Ancient of Secrets to analyze and detect potential enemies. Her Cabal controls the Steel Reefs.

Dadan Tadan

Mage of the Primordial of Fire, specialized in explosions.

Romero Fujimi

Follower of the Ancient of Filth. Just as smug as Monoma.

Habuko Mongoose

Follower of the Archon of Life. Interested in snakes, with eyes to fit that.

Honnenuki's Cabal

Juzo Honnenuki

Appointed by the teachers as Warlord of the Labyrinth Exclusion Zone during the time skip.
  • Critical Staffing Shortage: He is short on manpower, especially management manpower, due to the lack of people willing to live in the Labyrinth.
  • Unfit for Greatness: Played with. Due to being selected by the teachers to be the Labyrinth Warlord out of the few who put their names forward, he is generally considered to not have earned his position unlike the other Warlords, making his position weak without any regard for his actual leadership capabilities or potential lack thereof.
Other Students and U.A. Permanent Inhabitants

Mei Hatsume

A prodigious artificer whose skills are only surpassed by her incredibly quirky nature. Izuku and his friends meet her because she's the only one willing to work with them, but soon she proves herself able to provide them with weapons and tools that can give them an edge in the cut-throat world of Initiates.
  • Cyborg: After becoming a Heresiarch of the Ancient of Cogs, she essentially becomes a robot with human skin.
  • Didn't See That Coming: When she was told about Izuku being the Godling of Desire, she thought she had made herself immune by ridding herself of physical desires. She didn't expect that Izuku's power would allow him to use any spell as if it were part of the Lore of Desire.
  • Every Man Has His Price: Betrays U.A. and Izuku's Cabal to Decay and Overhaul because they paid her better than U.A.
  • Everyone Has Standards: When she does her escape, she hacks the security system so it will flag all regular students as attackers, but at the lowest level so the system won't kill unless forced to. She wants a distraction, not a massacre.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: She can craft good quality Magitek available for Black Course students willing to pay the price. Becoming an Heresiarch of Cogs makes her even better at this.
  • The Mole: She was working for the MLF. Was the one behind the hacking device Tsuyu gave Izuku, and the reason Decay knew Izuku's Cabal would go to the park and the abandoned hospital.
  • Not So Above It All: She's willing to let Izuku's Cabal pay for stuff she makes in installments so she can later rub it into other artificers' faces when Izuku hits it big. This is such an out-of-character moment in a world where the best you usually get is Enlightened Self-Interest that Shoto suspects her having ulterior motives for it.
  • Took a Level in Badass: During the Time Skip, she becomes a Heresiarch of Cogs.

Soma Michiko

Known as the Nightmare of Frost and the Dread Queen of the North, Michiko is considered the most powerful of the Nightmares - enough to command presence even amongst the Warlords. She acts as a neutral party at the school, allowing her to host events such as the Warlords' Summit with no problem. Controls the Frozen Palace within the Frozen Hell Exclusion Zone.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: She thought Izuku's Cabal's defeat of Geten was quite funny, to the point of salting her brother's wound over this in some rather creative ways.
  • An Ice Person: Variation, as she can only manipulate ice, not generate it. However, she is incredibly powerful when armed with enough ice.
  • Covert Pervert: Not only was she secretly harboring a potent mommy fetish, she also openly admitted to Izuku that she was wearing transparent underwear while attending a major political event.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Her breasts are bigger than Yaoyorozu's. Izuku can barely think straight when he gets in close contact with them.
  • The Dreaded: She's the most powerful Nightmare at U.A., and even Warlords are careful to step around her. It's what makes her Palace a convenient place to host their Summit, as antagonizing her by foul play would be a horrible idea.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Izuku describes her as an incredibly beautiful thirty-year-old woman with a body that women ten years younger would kill for.
  • Mrs. Robinson: She has a fetish for mothering younger men - which Izuku triggers thanks to his Charm.
  • Odd Friendship: She's friends with Ibara. Counts as Intergenerational Friendship, since Soma is thirty while Ibara is Izuku's age.
  • Slave to PR: Soma's reputation means a lot to her, which is why Shoto's stunt causing her image issues is enough for her to want to murder him. Luckily for her, the target of her fetish Izuku has enough prestige that her people accept her relationship with Izuku despite its dubious beginnings.

Geten

Soma Michiko's younger brother. Known as the Nightmare of Ice, he mostly works as a mercenary for Saiko Intelli.
  • Death by Adaptation: Dies in the MLF's second assault of U.A., fighting against the Inalco attackers alongside Izuku.
  • Fatal Flaw: He likes to take his time when trying to kill someone in order to draw out the pleasure. This allows Izuku's Cabal to trick him into an ambush that leads to his humiliating defeat.
  • Humiliation Conga: After being defeated in a humiliating fashion by Izuku's Cabal, Shoto makes the event public, causing him to become the laughingstock of U.A. And then his sister organizes things so, every time he uses the Internet, he has to enter a password referencing the event.

Tsukiko Okuda, formerly known as Tsukiko Todoroki

A cousin of Todoroki, she was cast out of the family after she became a Cold One. Currently works for Soma Michiko, whom she is in love with.
  • Incompatible Orientation: She's a lesbian in love with Soma Michiko, so Izuku's Charm doesn't affect her as much as other girls. And, of course, after Izuku Charms Michiko, it might also apply to the other side.

Fumikage Tokoyami and the Demigod of Darkness

A student turned Warlock of the Demigod of Darkness and their patron.
  • Big Damn Heroes: During the MLF's second attack on U.A., they end up annihilating an entire squad of Inalco mercenaries, giving the defenders time to regroup.
  • Fusion Dance: As a Terminal Warlock, Fumikage has largely merged with the Demigod of Darkness, and neither of them know where one ends and the other begins.
  • Literal Genie: The reason Fumikage became a Terminal Warlock is due to Darkness interpreting Fumikage's poetry about loving darkness and becoming one with it as him agreeing to its terms.
  • Put on a Bus: Splits from the rest of the Suicide Mission crew when he finds a place he can call home.
  • Shrouded in Myth: Stories of Fumikage were treated as the equivalent of the Special Exclusion Zone stories before Izuku's Cabal discovered it. Even All Might didn't know he actually existed until Asa's Cabal ran into him.

    U.A. Black Course Teachers
Powerful and knowledgeful Initiates who have chosen to work on helping the next generation of Initiates the art and craft of surviving in a world where dying fast might be the best option out of many bad ones.

Toshinori Yagi

U.A. Black Course's teacher on magic. Toshinori Yagi is an earnest, good teacher who seeks to help his students survive the years of the Black Course while training them so they can survive the world outside the school.
  • Badass in Distress: Malice has All Might kidnapped as part of his B plot to become a Power again.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Normally, when a person meets a Greater Aberrant, the result is corporeal and sanity damage because the Aberrant is imposing its concepts on the person. When Decay brings out a Category 4 Greater Aberrant in front of Toshinori, the Aberrant begins to suffer corporeal and sanity damage.
  • Cool Teacher: Consistently does his best to help his students with his problems, even providing Ochako a Black Course phone even though she isn't fully human. He's also the only teacher willing to bet that Izuku will reach graduation when he was first Initiated and before Izuku's absurd successes.
  • Freak Out:
    • When Shoto tells him what the Cabal has discovered about Izuku's mother, he gets off the Katsumobile, rolls around the snow while screaming incoherently at the top of his lungs for a minute, gets back into the car and continues driving.
    • After Aiko reveals that Asa Shigaraki is her and Izuku's brother, he has another freak-out at the idea of having a third Midoriya sibling in the school, claiming that the teachers are likely to begin killing themselves if they have to deal with more Weirdness Magnets.
  • I Resemble That Remark!: Keeps stating that he's not Aiko's father, but when she makes a sexually-charged comment, he immediately asks her who said that so he could "talk" to them.
  • Meaningful Rename: After becoming a Magister, he sheds his old name to become All Might.
  • Parental Substitute: He fully accepts the role of being Izuku's and Aiko's father by Chapter 67.
  • Rank Up: After the MLF Attack, he gets offered the position of Vice-Principal, which, given the Principal's normal lack of contact with the rest of the school, means he's pretty much setting the policy for the school.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: By the end of Izuku's Cabal's tale on how Izuku came to become U.A.'s Fifth Warlord, he's aware of how much things are going to suck in the future.
  • Took a Level in Badass: He becomes a Magister in chapter 50.

Shota Aizawa

U.A. Black Course's teacher on combat. Apathetic and jaded to the point that he'll let a student die in front of him without moving a finger or that chooses not to teach vital skills to those he thinks will die anyway.
  • Anti-Magic: He knows a spell that can not only cancel magic, but also causes a backlash on the target based on the strength of the cancelled magic. If properly used, it can kill even Demi-Powers.
  • Apathetic Teacher: He won't teach his combat class to Izuku because he thinks he will die in a couple of weeks at best, and once let Himiko kill a Black Course Candidate in front of him even when the latter was begging for help.
  • Foil: He gets repeatedly compared with Toshinori/All Might - and comes out the other way losing.
  • Not So Above It All: When Emi Fukukado sets up a trap by sending an illusion of her to knock on the teachers' lounge's door, knowing that Aizawa will react by jumping out of the window to avoid her, Aizawa falls for it hook, line, and sinker.
  • Oh, Crap!: When he opens the teachers' lounge's door only to see Emi Fukukado at the other side, he quickly closes the door and jumps out of the window.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: His reaction when Toshinori presented his report on Izuku's Cabal and their adventure that ended with Izuku claiming the Special Exclusion Zone was to state that it was "a wild fanfiction".

Higari Maijima

U.A. Black Course's teacher on magic item creation.

The Principal

The mysterious entity that controls the Black Course from their tower in the middle of U.A.'s Campus, few have met them and lived to tell the tale. He also answers to the name of Nedzu.
  • A Form You Are Comfortable With: He takes the form of a humanoid rat wearing a suit when he meets with All Might.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Nedzu genuinely tries to be on the side of humanity, but because he is fundamentally not human, he doesn't quite get human morality in spite of his best efforts. He is simply too different.
  • Eldritch Abomination: No one wants to meet the guy face to face for a very good reason.
  • Exact Words: Nedzu told All Might that after Malice died, the Ancients operated on a simple morality where more of their domain is good and less is bad. What he doesn't say is that the Ancients had to lose another Dawn War to get most of them to give up on trying to subjugate humanity and emulate the neutrality of the Primordials and Shapers.
  • The Gadfly: He's prone to doing stuff just because it's funny.
  • Not So Omniscient After All: Contrary to popular opinion, Nedzu's knowledge does have limits, though All Might thinks the limits are set where he considers them fun.
  • Physical God: He is the Demi-Power of Rats, and is one of the most powerful Demi-Powers around. He previously was the Ancient of Famine, or rather an Aspect of it.
  • Time Abyss: He fought in the Dawn War, and claims to be older than recorded history.
  • Uncanny Valley: When All Might meets him, he notes that everything in the office screams of this effect.
  • Voice of the Legion: When he speaks, it is like a thousand rats squeaking together.

Other

    Mankind Liberation Front
A mysterious magical organization led by an individual known as "Sensei". Their aims are unknown, but they believe that the key to achieving them lies in certain people within U.A.
  • All for Nothing: The talk between Nedzu and Sensei/Malice states that the MLF's intention of turning as many initiates as possible into Awakened Humans is outright impossible, and they are actually unwittingly helping Malice regain his old power.
  • The Corrupter: They bribe Mei Hatsume so she will inform on the school (particularly Izuku) and help distract the school Initiates when they attack. They also induce Hitoshi Shinso to turn on his fellow students and kill several of them while trying to frame demihumans for the attacks.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: They claim to be this. If Decay is to be believed, they want to understand how Toshinori has managed to "awaken" so they can do the same to as many people as possible in preparation for the upcoming Second Dawn War.

Sensei

The leader of the Mankind Liberation Front. He remains in the background, hidden, while his organization's Magisters and Initiates carry out his orders. His actual objectives are a mystery.
  • Abusive Parents: He went out of his way to make Asa's life as miserable as possible to cultivate his Malice traits as part of his plans.
  • Big Bad: Depending on your point of view, he might be this to the story. Given his status as the Ancient of Malice (or Incarnation thereof), it's clearly closer to this role than any other.
  • Bond Villain Stupidity: Being the Ancient of Malice, and thus the incarnation of, among other things, Evil Is Petty, he will do stuff that makes no sense from a pragmatic point of view just to fulfill his sheer need to cause suffering to humans - such as putting his daughter Aiko in the depths of his old temple in the Bone Dust Desert Elsewhere instead of just killing her.
  • Manipulative Bastard: He tricked the Mankind Liberation Front into believing that by fulfilling his plans, they will help humanity when their achievement will result in his revival as the Ancient of Malice, the exact opposite of their stated goal.
  • The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: Downplayed. Regardless of its wishes, possessing Hisashi Midoriya's body has left him with a taste for things like whisky.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: When Decay returns from attacking U.A., he reassures him that the failure of the mission cannot be blamed on him.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Wears a black business suit. Overhaul points out that it serves as a statement: when everyone around you wears rags or combat equipment, such a suit indicates you fear nothing.
  • So Proud of You: Expresses pride in his son Izuku's growth. This is for purely selfish reasons though as Izuku becoming a Godling of Desire was a crucial step in his plans to revive himself as the Ancient of Malice.

Decay

A young man with white hair whose mere presence and name causes food to rot and people to feel like they have maggots somewhere. Wielding incredibly powerful magic from the Ancient of Filth, he challenges Izuku's Cabal in a contest of survival. A member of the Mankind Liberation Front.
  • Broken Pedestal: He used to be Hisashi's biggest fan but the discovery he is the Incarnation of Malice and responsible for his life problems shattered his admiration of him.
  • Death Seeker: He wishes to die, and the only reason he still lives is because he wants his death to mean something.
  • Nausea Fuel: He's a magister whose influence causes people to feel disgusted.
  • Villain Respect: Expresses respect for Izuku's Cabal (because they proved capable of surviving fighting with him) and Aizawa (for being able to learn and cast the most powerful Anti-Magic spell known without suffering its usual consequences).

Overhaul

A man whose own name can cause animals to change species without any direct action. A member of the Mankind Liberation Front.
  • Affably Evil: During the MLF's attack second attack on U.A., he tells All Might that, if the latter answers a few questions, he'll retreat and claim All Might forced him out.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: He defeats Aiko, a Demi-Power, in one-on-one combat when it normally takes either a lot of Magisters or some Magisters and a whole army of normal Initiates to have any hope of achieving such a feat.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: When he finds out that "Sensei" is actually an Incarnation of Malice, he decides to turn on it and find a way to destroy it, but his allegiance to one side or the other is in the air.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: His reaction when he sees Aiko and realizes she's way more powerful than he is.
    Other People

Hisashi Midoriya

Izuku's father. His work tends to keep him out of home for long periods of time. When Izuku becomes an Initiate, Hisashi suddenly disappears, taking with him all of his belongings - and even causing the Censor to erase him from the family photos. His real identity and status are secrets that, when revealed, might cast a light on Izuku's own past and existence.
  • Disappeared Dad: He disappears a few days after Izuku becomes an Initiate. While he makes sure that Izuku will have enough money to last him for years, and pays the rent for long enough, he still left Izuku alone. See "Sensei" from the Mankind Liberation Front to see what he's been up to.
  • Glorified Sperm Donor: After learning about their father's real identity, Izuku, Aiko, and Asa consider him this.
  • Humanoid Abomination: According to Nedzu, he might have been an awakened human, and the reason why Izuku was also awakened.
    • If his meeting with Nezu is to be believed, he's an Awakened Human that got somehow possessed by the Ancient of Malice.

Inko Midoriya

Izuku's mother, deceased many years ago. Much to Izuku's surprise, the woman known as Inko Midoriya simply does not seem to exist in a legal sense. Toshinori Yagi eventually uncovers that she was once known as Misaki Kawamura, an Initiate who later became a cultist for the Ancient of Desire.
  • Humanoid Abomination: Toshinori suspects that she was an Aberration of Desire that possessed a human body for whatever reason, which led to Izuku's and Aiko's birth. Aiko later reveals she was an Incarnation of the Ancient of Desire.
  • Missing Mom: Reportedly deceased ever since Izuku was a small child. Malice reveals he murdered her after she gave birth to Izuku, Aiko, and Asa.
  • Powers That Be: She is the Ancient of Desire, or an Incarnation of it, having worn Misaki's body to manifest and gave birth to Izuku, Aiko, and Asa.

Ryukyu

The Ascendant of Greed and a veteran of the prior Dawn War.
  • Deity of Human Origin: She was once a mortal human before becoming the Ascendant of Greed.
  • Tsundere: A parental variant, she was in denial over being embracing the role of mother of All Might's children during their courtship.

Powers

    In General
Vast entities of incredible power and unknown motivations (if any), they act as the source of magic that humans can wield - as well as the creatures humans have to fight in order to survive in the universe.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: Discussed by Nedzu. He thinks they are a subversion. Nedzu theorises that unlike what most people think, the Powers are not personified concepts, but beings in charge of concepts.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Attempting to ascribe any morality to them is bound for failure. For them, good and bad are only described by how much of them there is: for example, the Primordial of Fire will see a burning city and consider it good because there's a lot of fire, not caring about the destruction it causes.
    Archons

In General

Powers that control magic that would normally be considered "light magic".
  • Light Is Not Good: They may be purveyors of "light magic", but it is just as dangerous to humans as other types of magic.

Archon of Mercy

  • Healing Hands: Its domain specialises in Healing magic.
  • Stupid Sacrifice: Mages too changed by it end up making highly pointless sacrifices under the belief they have to do it, like offering a man-eating ghoul a bite out of themselves.

Archon of Defiance

  • Deity of Human Origin: It once was the last human, until the Ancient of Malice ordered them to kneel - and they chose to spit in their face. The paradox of a human achieving something only a Power would be able to do was resolved by turning said human into a Power.
  • Stone Wall: Its domain encompasses spells that transform Determinators into this.

Archon of Life

Archon of Sacrifice

Archon of Purity

Archon of War

  • The Paladin: People that have taken this path tend to become something akin to paladins.

Archon of Transfiguration

  • Anti-Magic: Its Lore allows users to cancel the Magic of other beings. The ultimate spell of this aspect is Absolute Magic Negation.
  • Status Buff: Its Lore includes spells that grants buffs like Attack-Up.
    Ancients

In General

Powers that control magic that would normally be considered "dark magic".
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Zigzagged. The pantheon as a whole started out being actively evil. In the present day, the Ancients mostly shifted to a simple morality where they treat more of their domain as good and less as bad.

Ancient of Flesh

  • Healing Hands: Some of its spells can be used to heal people.
  • Our Ghouls Are Different: Ghouls are demihumans that have used so much of the magic associated to it that they are transformed.

Ancient of Reflections

Ancient of Desire

  • Sense Freak: She seeks to experience every possible thing there is to feel and fulfill every desire that exists, even those that are self-destructive. She may have agreed to the deal with Malice because she wanted to experience giving birth and (potentially) mortal death.

Ancient of Filth

  • Poisonous Person: It has the Aspect of Poison, which is the source of all Poison magic.

Ancient of Denial

Ancient of Control

Ancient of Secrets

Ancient of Night

Ancient of Days

Ancient of Strife

Ancient of Cogs

  • Industrialized Evil: It is described as the incarnation of industrialization used for anything.

Ancient of Malice

  • The Corrupter: Malice's existence actively pushed the other Ancients into more active malevolence. His corrupting influence disappeared with his death, and while the Ancients are still capable of horrible things, there is no longer any malice behind their actions, just a desire to expand their domains regardless of the people who gets hurt.
  • Crazy-Prepared: The only reason anything of Malics survived when he was slain is because he created an incredibly minor separate Incarnation before his fateful encounter with the human that became Defiance, just in case.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: While Malice has a theoretical comprehension of positive feelings and interactions, he cannot help but regard them as inferior to what he stands for. Thus, his plan to resurrect gets derailed when Principality convinces Asa to fight back against Malice's possession and instead embody justice/retribution against those that have hurt him and his friends.
  • Evil Is Petty: He feels revulsion when he learns an old magical nation used a piece of his corpse to power a few orphanages.
  • God of Evil: The Ancient of Malice is universally considered this, to the point that everybody on both sides of the law, even cultists of other Ancients, will aim and fire at any cultist of Malice they encounter with extreme prejudice. Of course, given Nedzu's statement that it was destroyed in the Dawn War, it gives a different perspective to it.
  • God Is Dead: It was slain in a previous Dawn War by the last human. Or at least, so it appeared - he's now riding on Hisashi Midoriya's body.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: If the tablets Nezu found in the Bone Dust Desert ziggurat are right, it was the priesthood of Malice that kickstarted the Dawn War.
    • This also ties into how he died; he brought a huge amount of his being into normal reality, more than any usual Incarnation, and told the last human to kneel. The last human somehow defied him, even when things like gravity were kneeling, and the paradox destroyed it and caused the human to be elevated into the Archon of Defiance. The only reason Malice survived at all is that he had a smaller Incarnation prepared beforehand.
    Primordials

In General

Powers that govern magic related to the elements (air, earth, fire, metal, water, wood).

Primordial of Fire

Primordial of Water

Primordial of Air

Primordial of Earth

Primordial of Metal

Primordial of Wood

     Shapers

In General

Powers that control magic related to the manipulation of the laws of physics and the material world in general.

Shaper of Form

Shaper of Energy

Shaper of Change

Shaper of Laws

  • Gravity Master: It has the Aspect of Gravity and is the source of all Gravity magic.
    Other Powers (SPOILER)

Principality of Mankind

When the Priesthood of the Ancient of Malice decided to rebel against it, they sought the aid of some other power, one capable of helping humanity cast away their evil gods. And, after a ritual, "the Sky answered". Since then, it's been helping humanity in their fight against the Powers, although its true purpose and objectives remain unknown. The Awakened humans are its demihumans.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • Its intervention was what saved Izuku from being transformed into a demihuman of Desire.
    • He also intervenes more directly to encourage Asa to fight off Malice's possession of him, allowing Asa to become a Godling of Malice - but of Malice aimed at wrongdoers that range from small-time bullies to high-profile murderers.
  • Big Good: In a way, it acted like this when it helped humanity fight the Ancients (which were the only powers that existed back then) during the Dawn War.
  • God's Hands Are Tied: Powerful as it is, Mankind is bound by the deal it made with the original Malice priests that asked him for help, and that Mankind is supposed to help humanity win, not win for them. The most Mankind can do is make their victory possible, but humanity has to do the hard work in actually winning. Of course, if another Power (like, for example, Malice) tries to meddle in the fight, then the restraints are looser.
  • Hidden in Plain Sight: It keeps the nature of its Lore secret by making it so widespread no one notices - in the form of the glyphs Initiates use for magic.
  • Humanoid Abomination: As Nedzu puts it, it might be more human than most other powers, but that doesn't mean humans can understand it.
  • The Omniscient: Downplayed. It knows everything about humans from a linear perspective of time as well as everything that humans know, and its own eldritch knowledge, but that's it. This allows some powerful enough entities to pull the wool over its eyes by making sure no human knows about it.
  • Oxymoronic Being: Discussed, with Nedzu stating he believes the Principality's goal is to Retcon the world so magic never existed - which would affect him as well.
