Independent Villains

Glitches

    Missingno

A Glitch Pokémon created from a failed Mew cloning experiment and the first major enemy of the proto J-Team, whose MO was possession and corruption. Killed Deader than Dead.

     'M

The second Glitch Pokémon faced by the J-Team, created by a Cipher experiment. Weaker than Missingno, but far more evil. Killed when Anom made a Heroic Sacrifice in order to lower its anti legendary shield.

  • And There Was Much Rejoicing: In comparison to Missingno, the only thing our heroes feel after killing him and Anom coming back is relief, with the trainers and legendaries having a party after his death.
  • Big Bad: Of the Unova arc.
  • Deader than Dead: Was completely wiped from this reality as a result of being destroyed by the heroes and most of the legendaries.
  • Demonic Possession: Managed to put many different beings under its thrall, including Wolf, Steven Stone, and Jane.
  • Killed Off for Real: Like Missingno, Deader than Dead.
  • Mechanical Abomination: Had two cores, one organic and one data.
  • The Sociopath: Unlike Missingno, it got a perverse pleasure out of the suffering of others.
  • The Virus: The Bad Eggs that turned children into its shiny Charizard army.

    ♀

A Glitch Pokémon that inhabited Pinwheel Forest 16 years before the beginning of the story, with the power to drive anyone who heard its song homicidally insane.

    Prometheus

An Invisible Shiny Bulbasaur who ended up spreading glitches around Kanto. He was eventually cured of his glitching.

     ▶▒ A▒ and its thralls

A fragment of XANADOS's attempted recreation of Missingno. that managed to be materialized and escape deletion. It started out nearly harmless, but gradually grew into a sizable threat intent on dividing and spreading itself throughout Sinnoh. In the final battle, it created facsimiles of many of the J-Team's old foes for a Boss Rush before it decided to fight on its own.

  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Pica and Artemia end up using a Humongous Mecha made by Ana and Bohr to battle a giant Glitch seaweed monster.
  • Big Bad: Becomes the main villain of the Re:Glitch arc.
  • Clone by Conversion: Turned all of the characters involved in the Metroid Prime subplot into copies of Samus... With the exception of Mezzo.
  • Hero Killer: Almost killed the entire J-Team by taking the form of ♀; their deaths were only averted by Dialga reversing time the moment they would have died.
  • Mechanical Abomination: Created from pure data that XANADOS materialized.
  • The Corruption: Some fragments of the main glitch have this quality. In particular, parts of it became the equivalent of Phazon in the Metroid Prime subplot.
  • Seemingly Hopeless Boss Fight: The final battle was this — taking the form of ♀, it nearly sang the entire J-Team to death before time was reversed and the J-Team was given permission to bend space.

    Ridley

A Charizard leader of a gang of Gible-line goons who, upon angering a piece of ▶▒ A▒, got fused with one of his Gabite lackeys and became a glitch hybrid of the two.

  • Ascended Glitch: Inspired by the Glitch Hybrids of both the Gen I and IV games.
  • Capture and Replicate: Commanded his underlings to find another piece of ▶▒ A▒ in order to study and experiment with it.
  • Two Beings, One Body: Although Ridley himself maintains strict control over their glitch-hybrid body, the Gabite he fused with also has its own mind.

    The Shards of Calamity

A trio of extremely powerful Glitches, remnants of the Calamity Alovye, that accost the J-Team over the course of Re: Glitch, Alola, and the Entralink Arcs.

  • Hero Killer: The Shards are extremely dangerous and every battle the J-Team has with them ends with at least one person seriously injured. Chaos in particular injures most of the J-Team so badly that had Giselle not been there a couple would've likely died from their injuries, and when faced with Tragedy for the first time during the School raid, the J-Team is forced to run and attempt collapsing the base on top of it in order to get away.
  • Humanoid Abomination: Both Destruction and Tragedy take on humanoid shapes but are anything but.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: They're completely humorless and try to kill J-Teamers immediately as possible.
  • Turns Red: Each of them has a secondary form that appears once they've suffered enough damage.

Destruction, aka the Administrator

The first Shard encountered by the J-Team, originally working with Zrone before heading out on its own.

  • In a Single Bound: Easily jumps at least 1,000 feet in the air to the Stormchaser to fight the J-Team inside it, before they manage to force it out for the second phase of the battle.
  • The Juggernaut: It can take truly ridiculous amounts of damage and remain standing and moving.
  • Mighty Glacier: Strong and durable, but slow.
  • No Kill like Overkill: Destruction is ultimately defeated by the Stormchaser blasting it to bits with its main guns after a protracted battle with the J-Team.

Chaos

The second Shard encountered by the J-Team.

  • Demonic Possession: Possesses Jacob and uses him as a meat puppet.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Chaos' true form is an inky blackness.
  • Flunky Boss: Can scan the memories of those it fights in order to create copies of their old foes for them to fight.
  • Fragile Speedster: The fastest of the Shards, but also the weakest defensively.
  • Glass Cannon: Can deal horrific amounts of damage, but has the weakest defenses out of all the Shards, so it dies fairly quickly once the J-Team actually gets to hit it.
  • Manipulative Bastard: While possessing Jacob it gaslights PEFE!Every and tries to turn everyone else against her to keep her from telling the rest of the J-Team about it.
  • Sadist: While the other Shards do what they do simply out of efficiency, Chaos seems to actively enjoy making people's lives miserable.

Tragedy

The third Shard encountered by the J-Team.

  • Bird People: Tragedy looks like a giant humanoid bird.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: As a personification of tragedy, it purposely shows up at the worst possible moment.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Strong, fast, and durable even without its time power.
  • Time Master: Abuses time travel powers to heal itself from injuries.

    The Fanatic

A Glitch representing toxic fandom.

  • As Long as There Is Evil: As long as toxic fandom exists, so will the Fanatic, and so while it's defeated it can't be truly killed.
  • Fan Dumb: In-universe it is literally the personification of toxic Pokémon fandom, having a particular dislike of the WAAPT multiverse for its Fusion Fic elements.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Was the being that sent Team Umbra away following the Re: Glitch Arc.
  • Humanoid Abomination: After Gudrunn deals the final blow, before getting banished the Fanatic is revealed to have a humanoid form inside its shell.
  • Hypocrisy Nod: Notes its hatred for Dynamaxing for in its eyes ruining Pokémon while using it anyway.
  • Sinister Geometry: Its outer shell takes the shape of a sphere, with those fighting it mockingly calling it an egg.
  • True Final Boss: After Izaya is sent away by La, it serves as the actual final opponent of the Entralink Arc.

Early One-off Villains

     Leena

Daisy's older sister, who ended up getting corrupted and forcing Jane to kill her with Josie.

    David

A thrall of Missingno from the infamous fanfic, the Pokémon Story.

  • Fighting a Shadow: Turns out he's just part of Missingno's power. He explodes into data when defeated.
  • No Kill like Overkill: The proto J-Team makes sure he isn't coming back, with Tagg having Draca burn the corpse.

    Pies

A trainer that used to follow the J-Team around and do all sorts of evil plots.

  • Filler Villain: Tended to pretty much randomly show up to bother the J-Team.

Teams

    Team Plasma

Ghetsis

The former leader of Team Plasma. Is among the few villains that know of the J-Team's Monese speaking abilities, though he's too mad for anyone to take it seriously.

  • Butt-Monkey: Ghetsis is made everyone's joke IRP.
  • Driven to Madness: By the J-Team as a result of his numerous failures, and while BW2 show that he managed to temporarily recover, his defeat there made it permanent.
  • Smug Snake: Is always smug when facing the proto-J-Team.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After being defeated at the Giant Chasm after temporarily turning Kyurem into a Shadow Pokemon.

The Shadow Triad

Ghetsis' right hand men, three of the world's most powerful psychics.

    Team Galactic

Cyrus

The former leader of Team Galactic, who tried remaking the universe twice in this continuity.

  • Arch-Enemy: To DS, being her main adversary back during her first journey in Sinnoh.
  • And I Must Scream: His fate after the end of the AU arc, stuck in an infinite time loop, although he isn't aware of it.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Is this for most of the Alternate Timeline arc, the J-Team mainly dealing with Scolemis despite him being responsible for recreating the universe in the first place, before eventually just becoming the Big Bad following their and Napoleon's defeat.
  • "Groundhog Day" Loop: Gets stuck in a time loop by the legendaries following the AU arc as punishment, though he's unaware of it.
  • The Stoic: Much like his game counterpart, he doesn't emote much.

Galactic Commander Neptune

A Galactic Commander who Tagg curb-stomped years ago who decided to go for revenge.

  • And Your Little Dog, Too!: Threatens to harm Tagg's friends after he defeats him during the AU arc, which causes Tagg to retort that he'd simply kill Neptune if he ever did.
  • Arch-Enemy: One of the closest things Tagg has to one until Tokarev showed up.
  • Bat Out of Hell: His Crobat.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Has a Heracross, which is a giant beetle.
  • The Dragon: To Cyrus for the AU arc, being his effective second in command.
  • Evil Is Petty: Was pretty much after Tagg mainly because he curb stomped him years ago.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Is stuck doing the Caramelldansen forever in a time loop following the end of the AU arc.
  • Hell Hound: Houndoom, who doubles as his signature Pokémon.
  • Just a Kid: Thought this of Tagg when they first met, which proved to be a huge mistake.
  • Threatening Shark: His Sharpedo.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: Discussed. Wonders why Cyrus chose to try using Primal Dialga to kill DS instead of a far more mundane method such as merely slitting her throat. It overlaps with Irony because he never tried doing that with Tagg.

    Team Ozone

General Tropes

  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Despite being treated as a joke for most of Hoenn, they end up speeding up Vyvyan's transformation into a Rayquaza.
  • Parody: An in-universe one of Team Aqua and Magma by Maxie and Archie, but some people ended up taking it a bit too seriously and tried cloning Rayquaza.

Ozone note  Admin Jet

A Team Ozone Admin that first appeared during the Fortree Pokeringer competition, who ends up betraying Archie and Maxie along with the other Ozealots, and later becomes a Cipher Admin. Is currently possessed by Esprit.

  • Arch-Enemy: To Straw for killing Taylor.
  • Asshole Victim: While getting possessed is a terrible fate, Jet is also a really terrible person.
  • Blow You Away: All of his Pokemon are Flying types.
  • Demonic Possession: Esprit possessed him for a while before he gained control of a clone of Straw's body.
  • Hero Killer: Kills Siren / Taylor just as she has a Heel–Face Turn thanks to Straw and Artemis, and nearly kills Elise on two separate occasions.
  • Karma Houdini: Despite the J-Team foiling him on several occasions, he always manages to get away mostly unscathed.
  • Kick the Dog: Injuring Elise twice and killing Siren / Taylor for no reason other than pure spite would count as this.
  • The Starscream: Mutinies on Archie and Maxie with several other Ozealots near the climax of the Hoenn arc.
  • Theme Naming: All of his Pokemon have weather related names.
  • Wicked Cultured: Is very cultured despite being a total bastard.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Nearly kills Elise twice, both instances making her end up in the hospital, and murders Taylor.

Pokefutures Inc.

    In General

  • Arch-Enemy: There's no love lost between the few remnants of unrepentant former Pokefutures personnel who ended up either working independently or joining Teams, and the PEFE, with a segment of the latter organization dedicated to catching those who escaped justice.
  • The Atoner: Some Pokefutures personnel, mainly those less involved with its shady dealings, ended up joining the PEFE after it fell as penance.
  • Fantastic Racism: They consider Pokémon to just be nonsapient animals and see fit to do what would be considered felony-class animal abuse on them for their experiments, and any human who thinks otherwise to be akin to members of Animal Wrongs Groups. This tends to be their downfall when Pokémon prove to be much smarter than they think.
  • He Knows Too Much: Tried to permanently silence the teenage Tagg and Tracer, alongside an older Silent, for stumbling across one of their poaching operations in Hoenn.
  • Meaningful Name: The lack of an "é" is no accident, it's meant to signify their utter contempt for Pokémon apart from what they can offer them monetarily.
  • MegaCorp: A corporation so powerful they effectively made Angela their own personal fiefdom prior to their fall in 2008.
  • Predecessor Villain: The first enemy the PEFE faced.
  • Research, Inc.: A large biotech company with obscure roots.
  • The Remnant: While Pokefutures remnants exist, as a group they fundamentally lack the reach of their parent organization.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Their public face to the Angela region was that of a innovator and job creator.
  • You Kill It, You Bought It: Upon putting an end to Pokefutures, the PEFE took all its assets in return for not doing jail time for destabilizing a region's economy, and took its modern form.

    FutureOS (PEFeDOS / XANADOS)

An evil AI that was used by Pokefutures, until Tangent and Basket seemingly completely destroyed her in the OU. In the AU she ended up taking over the facility due to not being destroyed. and had the PEFE Founders suffer through her tests. In the Kalos arc, it was revealed that a backup of FutureOS downloaded herself to a supercomputer in Lumiose.

  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: She's an evil AI.
  • Arch-Enemy: To the PEFE Founders and their mons in particular, their mere involvement in a plot often being a catalyst for them to band together.
  • Boss Rush: Pits the J-Team against virtual copies of Annoski, Edge, Einroth, Fade, Gyru, Toxicroak, the fifty-foot tortilla, and Jane as XANADOS.
  • Captain Ersatz: Of both GLaDOS and XANA.
  • Evilutionary Biologist: Does depraved genetic experiments.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Was mostly destroyed by Tangent and Basket in the OT, but became a major problem in the AU once the head of PEFE in that timeline decided to use her since she was intact there.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: For the Re: Glitch arc, as the Flickering Thing was a creation of hers, despite not making any appearances.
  • Staying Alive: Due to her numerous backups the PEFE Founders find themselves incapable of truly killing her.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Her attempt to recreate Missingno; if she had defeated the J-Team, she would have had plenty of time to create and materialize it, even if she couldn't manage to control it. However, even though she lost, she managed to protect a piece of Missingno from resetting by trapping it mid materialization, which was released when the J-Team themselves materialized.

    Liz Tonio
An amoral scientist who works for a renegade remnant faction of Pokefutures in an abandoned [German] castle.

    Dr. Phineas Braun
Another Pokefutures scientist who desired to achieve apotheosis through his artificial bodies and experiments, almost succeeding until Tonio trapped his mind in the systems of his facility. Tried to trick the Aurabolts into fulfilling his purpose by uploading his consciousness into his handiwork, the Adonis.

  • Asshole Victim: He was as abusive and cruel as any other Pokefutures top brass, and his unrepentant attitude meant that he garners little sympathy from the Aurabolts when the question of dealing with his disembodied soul following his betrayal by Tonio comes to light.
  • Blasphemous Boast: Invoked. He repeatedly desires to create artificial bodies of near-godlike potential and at one point wanted to upload himself into one to become an actual god.
  • Brain Uploading: His attempted means of apotheosis. Prior, he got stuck in the computer systems after Tonio betrayed him.
  • Deus est Machina: The FutureSeries Legendary robots are the product of his research, which aimed to deliver the same power that the Legendaries could wield.
  • Dragged Off to Hell: His consciousness gets devoured, and not long after, he gets confronted by Yveltal and dragged off to the abyss.
  • Herr Doktor: Appears to be of [Germanic] descent. He gives off Armin Zola vibes.
  • Godhood Seeker: After years of isolation, he sought to become a god by uploading himself into a humanoid wetware body cloned from a Zapdos.
  • Logical Weakness: Him living in a deteriorated facility from the 2000s mean that his consciousness is not capable of running the defenses effectively once spread out too thin, especially since he is a human consciousness. A Porygon could run circles around him at least until he lost enough control to concentrate his efforts.
  • Only Mostly Dead: His body has long since deteriorated. After deciding whether to move him to a supervised computer or trapping him in a thumb drive, the Aurabolts hesitantly decide that he's effectively already dead and that there's no point in keeping him in the mortal coil.
  • Smug Snake: Maintains a haughty attitude throughout his encounter with the Aurabolts, which doesn't endear him to them at all.
  • Transhuman: A human consciousness trapped in a computer network with the goal of becoming a god.

    Albert Voynich

Albert Aloysius Voynich

The last CEO of Pokefutures, a businessman from Angela who runs a network of startup ventures. In secret, he heads one of the largest remaining factions of Pokefutures remnants and holds on to the title.

The Macraul Family

An aristocratic family from Kalos that has made the acquisition of unusual objects to add to their collections their raison d'être.

    In General
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: One of the oldest wealthy families in all of Kalos, dating back to the [Roman] era, and also one of the most disliked, with good reason.
  • Big Fancy House: They own several, notably one in Lumiose City that is next to an exclusive restaurant and casino, and plays host to galleries and dungeons for their collections.
  • Collector of the Strange: Their collections range from unusual Pokémon variants to lycanthropes and more.
  • Distinguishing Mark: A trait they share with Lawrence III is green hair, indicating a familial relationship with them.
  • Expy: Of Lawrence III from the second movie, as evidenced by their members' tendency to have green hair.
  • Hunting the Most Dangerous Game: The family patriarch, Paul, is a collector of lycanthropes.
  • Green and Mean: Most Macrauls have green hair, and they're antagonistic towards the J-Team.
  • I Have No Son!: They do not take kindly to members that do not tow the line and regularly burn insubordinate members from their family tapestry to showcase their disdain.
  • Muggle Born of Mages: While Sylvestra herself is an Aura Vampire, the majority of her descendants seem to lack any Auric potential, save for Ludovic having a very small amount of Obscuric potential.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: They appear unconcerned with amassing any form of power and influence they don't already have and thus do not involve themselves in major villain team plots.
  • Rich Bitch: An entire family's worth of wealthy criminals.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: Their wealth, name, and privilege shield them from prosecutions against their actions, to the chagrin of the PEFE's back office.
  • White Sheep: By a given value, anyway. They produce a number of members who are a lot less overt about their social privilege and acquire pieces through legitimate means, but they are also either outcast from the family or are too ineffectual or ignorant of their more heinous members' crimes.

    Sylvestra Macraul
Together with her husband David, the progenitor of the Macraul Family. She was around before the founding of Lumiose City (i.e. back when Kalos was still under the [Gauls]) and acquired vampiric powers some time later in her life.

  • Evil Matriarch: She's the ancestor of one of the oldest noble clans in Kalos.
  • Expy: Of Semiraimis from the Fate series.
  • Feathered Fiend: Has a proclivity for Honchkrow theming and currently wears a sumptuous Honchkrow-themed dress.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: She and her husband David (now a golurk) are this to the Macraul clan, being the true force behind the family but not getting that involved in their day to day antics.
  • Man of Wealth and Taste: An ancient noblewoman who carries herself with class.
  • Really 700 Years Old: A millennia-old aura vampire from pre-[Roman] Kalos.
  • Silver Vixen: Exceptionally old and beautiful enough to turn heads of straight and bi men of any age.
  • Taxidermy Is Creepy: Her and her husband's collection involve taxidermied Pokémon of various species.

    Paul Macraul
The current family patriarch and a collector of lycanthropes and unusual variants of Blaziken.
  • Arch-Nemesis: Quickly became one for Tagg after his theft of Limna.
  • Archnemesis Dad: He and Anna disowned one of their children, Louis, who returns the sentiment.
  • Big Bad: The public head of the Macraul family.
  • Big Brother Mentor: Is this to his youngest brother Lowell.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: He attempts to buy things whenever he wants something, seeing as relying on other methods can get a bit messy in the "an entire org of people will call for your head" sense.
  • Gentleman Thief: Often, he orders the thefts of any item that he fancies that he couldn't otherwise purchase.
  • Man of Wealth and Taste: He has an expansive "normal" collection of old books and artwork, many of which turn out to have been stolen.

    Anna Macraul
Paul's wife, lycanthrope collector, and a master thief.

    Lowell Macraul
Paul's youngest brother, a polymath and art collector.
  • Affably Evil: Polite, amicable, and very much complacent with his brother's activities.
  • Co-Dragons: He and Anna serve as co-seconds to Paul.
  • Disco Dan: Or rather, New Wave Dan. His other collection is that of 80s synthpop and new wave hits.
  • Dragon-in-Chief: Often left in charge of family events in Paul's or Anna's absence.
  • Mad Artist: A sculptor by trade who builds fantastically realistic sculptures and is a privileged megalomaniac.
  • Mad Scientist: A skilled chemist, behaviorist, and engineer who has developed several technologies still used by the Macraul family, from the programming of their casino slot machines to the protective outer coating used to fortify the walls of the family's collections. Considering his preference of pokémon, he has the theme down.
  • Made of Indestructium: His approach to making sculptures and interior decorative elements is to use a plaster he calls Lowecrete, which is virtually indestructible.
  • Not So Above It All: He has a strong affiliation for 80s pop culture.
  • Papa Wolf: Very protective of the younger members of his family, including his own son (despite them not getting along). His failure to do the same to his nephew Louis caused them to have a falling out.
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: He and his wife Helena are madly in love with one another and it shows in his art.
  • White Sheep: Comes off as this sometimes; he doesn't have any evil designs of his own and is genuinely appalled by the opinions people hold of the family.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Is the one in charge of whitewashing the Macraul family legacy and is held in great esteem by the art and science communities despite his pedigree.

    Ludovic Macraul
A sheltered member of the Macraul family who indulges in milquetoast intellectual pursuits. He collects eggs.

  • Idle Rich: An expensive education with no practical skills has left him unable to find any other purpose in life except milquetoast collecting.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Obscenely handsome to a self-parodying extent.
  • Princely Young Man: Rich, handsome, and impeccably polite.
  • Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense: He cannot function in society without his Malamar or his wife.
  • Token Good Teammate: He's among the most sincerely friendly members of the Macraul family and has currently no intention of acquiring anything (save for eggs) through less than legal means.

    Sylvestre Macraul
Lowell's wayward son, a wannabe playboy and art collector who lives in Unova.

    Gaspard Macraul
Paul and Anna's son, a sullen teenager with a penchant for evolutionary theory. He collects odd color variations of eeveelutions.
  • Creepy Child: He's an uncomfortable child to be around who was born from similarly creepy parents.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Being quite isolated as a child, he tends to be attached to members of his own family. He remains quite fond of his brother Louis and his cousin Abilene. He also looks up to older relatives like Ludovic and Lowell.
  • Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor: His jokes are repetitive, very dark, and lack the timing and delivery that makes Black Comedy work.
  • The Minion Master: Commands a group of Umbreon he named after pioneers in evolutionary theory.
  • Ping Pong Naïveté: He is described as a typical teenager deep down, and likes superhero movies, Capumon, and [Fortnite]
  • Teens Are Monsters: A calculating, cold, and creepy young man with a sadistic streak.

    Nathaniel Macraul
A collector obsessed with Fairy-types, which he stuffs into taxidermy specimens. His collection was promptly destroyed on the urging of Tagg, Mezzo, and Kai.
  • False Friend: Tries to capture Ever to add to his collection of taxidermied Pokémon by pretending to be chummy.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: Played with. His family quickly tries to retaliate against the J-Team in response to his collection being destroyed, but since it was Lowell who took the initiative, it basically involves buying all the J-Team Happy Meal toys for the family to break with ball peen hammers.
  • Taxidermy Is Creepy: Keeps a mounted collection of Fairy-types, which are forcibly destroyed after he's subdued by the J-Team.

    Morata Macraul

Morata Macraul

A collector obsessed with masks who has an army of Ghost-types. She's also Nathaniel's sister.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Is implied to watch Chiyo's cam modeling, as Tagg finds some incriminating pictures inside her computer's files. Chiyo isn't very pleased when she finds out.
  • Alliterative Name: Morata Macraul.
  • Arch-Enemy: Aislinn's for being involved in her mother's death in order to acquire the family's Zorua mask.
  • Bad Boss: Ynos tells Chiyo that he expects to be "punished" for his failure to stop her.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Since she's holding Ynos that puts her in conflict with the School.
  • Faux Affably Evil: During her confrontation with the burglary team, she keeps a friendly tone but talks about the horrible things she's done to secure masks for her collection and Aislinn's mother's murder at her sniper's hands as if she'd just gotten some stains on her clothing.
  • It Amused Me: Tells Aislinn and co that everything that's happened she did because she thought it'd be fun. This obviously does nothing to endear her to Aislinn, who tries to kill her immediately afterwards but fails only because Morata's Alakazam teleports her away before Aislinn's thrown knife can connect with her forehead.
  • Lack of Empathy: All but implies that she considers it Aislinn's mother's own fault that she died because she wouldn't give up the mask. The fact that she's saying right it in front of Aislinn means nothing to her.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Implied, the portraits Tagg and Chiyo see in her dining room depicting her as a child and teenager only show herself, Nathaniel, and Josette.
  • Kick the Dog: Despite the fact she's aware that Aislinn's replica mask is fake, she sends her Yamask after her anyway either as entertainment or to teach her a lesson.
  • Malevolent Masked Woman: She wears a white mask in the shape of a human face, and she's a villain.
  • Ojou Ringlets: She's wealthy and her hair's capable of doing loose curls.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Ynos notes that while Morata has no issue with using less than legal actions to acquire masks, including threats and violence, she normally refrains from killing, which was why Ynos found it shocking when she ordered him to murder Aislinn's mother. Morata herself claims she did it because Aislinn's mother was so stubborn in refusing to give up the mask that she didn't see any other option.
  • Sexy Sweater Girl: Morata wears a sleeveless sweater vest that leaves little to the imagination regarding her figure.
  • Soul Power: Has an army of Yamask to do her bidding and specializes in Ghost-types as a trainer.

Ynos

Morata's manservant and bodyguard, formerly Osmium of the 2003 School class.

  • Battle Butler: He's Morata's manservant and also her bodyguard.
  • Blind Without 'Em: He has serious degenerative vision problems as a result of his creation, and even his glasses just barely keep him from being considered legally blind.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: As a Schoolkid life hasn't been the greatest for him, and when Chiyo asks about his Batchmates mentioned in his journal, he angrily tells her to stop. He later reveals to Ludmilla that his Batchmates tended to bully him.
  • Duel Boss: Chiyo fights him 1v1 as a distraction during the burglary of Morata's manor.
  • Healing Factor: His Auric abilities allow him to quickly heal from most injuries. A Templar and Aislinn manage to deal lethal blows to him on two separate occasions, but during both incidents he quickly recovers and kills (Templar) or critically injures (Aislinn) his opponents.
  • Malevolent Masked Man: When acting as Morata's agent he wears a Dialga-themed mask.
  • Martial Arts Staff: Has some degree of martial arts training, and his main melee weapon is a staff.
  • Playing Possum: One strategy of his is to play dead when someone lands what would be an otherwise lethal blow and then attack them while their back is turned.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: Doesn't really like hurting or even killing people on Morata's orders, trying to convince Chiyo to leave when she tries talking to him, and only attacking her because she refuses to budge. When Chiyo asks why he works for someone barely better than the School he's running from, he responds that he mainly stays because it 1) mostly keeps the Templars away and 2) he feels that his only use to anyone is as a weapon.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Nearly kills Aislinn when they fight, and shows no hesitation fighting Chiyo later apart from not wanting to hurt people period, rather than their gender.

Josette

Morata's maid, formerly a Kalos Champion.

  • Never Mess with Granny: She's elderly and a former Kalos Champion who proves to be the toughest opponent in the manor.
  • Ninja Maid: She's Morata's maid and a former Kalos Champion.
  • Parental Substitute: Implied, she's the only adult figure depicted in Morata and Nathaniel's life.
  • Retired Badass: She still has her edge as a battler despite having not acted in competition for decades.
  • Soul Power: Specializes in Ghost-types, save for her Goodra Marjory.

Other Villains

    Ferno

Ferno the Charizardδ

A Fire/Dragon Delta Charizard who led the Delta Pokémon who tried to kidnap Pleo to get the legendaries to pay attention to their plight. In reality he considers Deltas superior to regular mons and merely wants to take over.

  • Arc Villain: For the Delta Pokémon sideplot in the OI.
  • Jerkass: Is a bit of one.
  • Momma's Boy: Is under the claws of his own mother, who didn't take his evil plot well and called it outright blasphemy.

  • Playing with Fire: Like all Charizard he's Fire-type.

  • Evil Overlord: Of Sinnoh about 1,000 years ago during the Pokeverse equivalent of the late Heian Period.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Was originally a member of the Aura Guardians before he turned.
  • Fantastic Racism: Was a victim of it in the past due to his powers, and was likely the victim of the mundane kind for his ethnicity as well.
  • Glass Cannon: Has superhuman abilities, but regular human durability, hence Tagg's lucky shot managing to seriously injure him.
  • Meaningful Name: Annoski is Ainu for "midnight."
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Was one for 1,000 years after being defeated by the Aura Guardians until Tagg released him.
  • Visionary Villain: Wished to bring a new dawn to Sinnoh using the Twilight, though his methods leave much to be desired.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Despite his methods, Annoski truly did have Sinnoh and his people's best interests at heart.
  • Worf Had the Flu: Tagg managing to seriously injure Annoski left him unable to actually deal with the J-Team directly for most of the arc.

    Esprit

Esprit

A rogue priest of Lugia who often attempts possessing people and Pokémon, with a particular interest in Straw's body.

  • Demonic Possession: Can do it to both humans and mons, and has a particular interest in Straw due to his ability to cheat death. Eventually he uses Elise to collect Straw's DNA in order to make himself a new body.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: In the Lillifuture, Elise's twins Icarus and Valerie are all but stated to be the result of Esprit sexually assaulting her.
  • Sinister Minister: He's a rogue priest after all.
  • Stalker without a Crush: Stalks Straw for his body, and Elise as the Hades to her Meg.

    Melinda

  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Despite knowing what they're doing is wrong, Melinda's mons still follow her orders.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite being an unrepentant smuggler and even willing to knowingly sell to Cipher, she does treat her own mons well, and only asks that the J-Team doesn't separate them once she gets arrested.
  • Pragmatic Villainy:
    • Speaks against smuggling in Black City in her public persona... Because she doesn't want competition.
    • She also keeps the mons under her care healthy (physically at least), since they make better prospects to her clients that way.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Melinda's childhood flashbacks appear to suggest this, though we still don't know what exactly led to her becoming a smuggler and far more cynical.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Is known for being a kind woman who takes in homeless Pokémon, but she only takes them in so she can sell them to the highest bidder, including Cipher.

Melinda's Chandelure

Melinda's first and most powerful Pokémon, whose job is to prevent captured mons from escaping.

  • Hope Crusher: He tries his best to chase out any thoughts of escape from the captive mons.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Follows Melinda's orders out of loyalty to her for taking care of him as a Litwick.
  • Torture Technician: Of a sort, his job is to break mons into compliance so that they don't try escaping.

    Edge

Edge

A gold and silver Bisharp who leads an army of Pawniard that harasses the J-Team on multiple occasions. Is a Ghost Obscuric, and a powerful one at that. He died from getting stabbed in the chest by Lucius, but came back as a Yamask and later a Delta Cofagrigus currently travelling with Ivy.

For tropes applying to his past life Celzvet, see the Ancestors page.

  • A Father to His Men: Treats the Pawniard under his command well.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: Edge may be arrogant and merciless, with no apparent reason to assault the J-Team other than petty greed, but his death, when it finally comes, is surprisingly poignant. This is doubled by the revelations later in the story regarding his true identity.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Killed by Lucius impaling him.
  • Large Ham: Oh so very much.
Edge: <IDIOTS! NOTHING YOU CAN DO I HAVEN'T SEEN BEFORE! A MILLION BATTLES! A TRILLION! EVERY COMBINATION! EVERY LEVEL OF SKILL! YOU CANNOT CATCH ME OFF GUARD!>
  • Last Disrespects: Tagg actually lets Rotor eat Edge's corpse upon his expiring, though he tells him to wait until everyone else has left.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: He's the commander of the Pawniard Army, and probably more of a threat than the rest of his army put together.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Has been around since the time of the Conquest Arc 600 years ago, due to him actually being Celzvet.
  • The Reveal: Is actually Jacob and Crow's ancestor Celzvet Kaeqiri.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: Due to Lucanus assisting the Ghost Lord in turning him into a Bisharp and ruining his life, Edge decided to take revenge on all of his descendants, having killed plenty of his branch of the Cain family over the centuries.
  • Soul Power: Surprisingly for a Bisharp, he's a Ghost Obscura user, and a powerful one at that. This is due to Edge actually being Celzvet, a Ghost Obscuric.
  • Was Once a Man: Was once Celzvet before Umbra mutated him with Lucanus' help.

    Queen Sectonia

A Vespiquen native to the Dream World who sought to take it over using the Dreamstalk.

  • Attack Its Weak Point: He was able to recover damage until the group attacked the machine that was giving him the power.
  • Dark Is Evil: He's an evil Dark type Pokémon.
  • Death by Adaptation: Got the life energy he stole sucked out of him to the point he was turned into dust.
  • Make My Monster Grow: The machine containing the Gold Star allowed him to grow huge from the life energy absorbed from the competitors.
  • Time Abyss: He's as old as the Crystal Stars in this version, who are themselves more than 100,000 years old, having used the Gold Star to keep him alive through the millennia via draining the life energy of competitors at the Glitz Pit.
  • Time-Limit Boss: Implied, since he was sucking the life force of everyone fighting and he probably did a similar thing to Maggie.

    Marianne Heiden

Maria and Lane Heiden's mother, and an abusive, controlling woman who has tried to get them both back under her thumb on multiple occasions.

  • Abusive Parents: Neglected Lane and smothered Maria to the point that she took a raft made from a washtub from Unova to Fiore just to escape her control.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Not her, but while Neo-Illusion is hardly comprised of moral individuals, and are enemies of the J-Team, even they find her a repulsive individual for asking them to assassinate her own children.
  • Evil Matriarch: Or mom in her case, to the Heiden siblings, being their personal worst enemy.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: The head of a corporation, and an evil individual.
  • I Have Your Wife: Forces Lane to help her get Maria to marry Francis by threatening to have Tori and Iggy murdered.

    Muninn

Muninn

Following his death at the hands of Ever, he was reincarnated as a Mimikyu before getting caught by him during the Alola Arc.

  • Arch-Enemy: Apart from All prior to his semi-Heel–Face Turn, he's the closest thing Ever and their team have to one.
  • Back from the Dead: During the Alola Arc it's revealed that he won a Spirit Game and came back as a Mimikyu.
  • Blatant Lies: Tells his sister Huginn when they met again in Alola that he died facing an army of mons, rather than simply from underestimating Ever.
  • Due to the Dead: Subverted, Ever's mons end up eating his corpse, and Tagg upon hearing what happened to him only laments that them doing that prevented specimen acquisition.
  • Exposition Fairy: Serves as a literal one (Since Mimikyu are part Fairy-type) during the Alola Arc to Ever, as he tells them about the Alola region and its inhabitants in return for being fed Poké Beans.
  • Genocide from the Inside: He and his sister Muginn destroyed the Moon Tribe for their disapproval of their invention of the Demon Mutagen.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Re: Glitch reveals that he's this to the Conquest Arc, as alongside his sister Huginn, Muninn was the original creator of the Demon Mutagen and the destroyer of the Moon Tribe. Orochi and Yami finding one of their samples led to the destruction of the Celestials in their search for the Lunar Pendant, and them giving it to Umbra lead him to create the other Demon Generals, and set the events of the Conquest Arc in motion, which had as one result the curse of Cain that inflicts the entire Cain line. If the FEV was indeed derived from it, that would make him one to the Fallout miniarc of PMD-R as well. In other words, more than 7,000 (7,600 if you include PMD-B) years of suffering can be directly or indirectly linked to his machinations.
  • Handicapped Badass: Even though he can't fly as well as other Latios following his injury prior to his death, he's still pretty powerful.
  • Hannibal Lecture: Tells Marmalade just as he's about to rip her wings off in revenge for the crippling of his own that no one will stop him because no one cares about her due to her abrasive nature. Salamence the Altaria proves him wrong on that one.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Turns out Zen Headbutting Ever was not a good idea, as it killed him via getting stabbed on Skarmory feathers.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Ever goads him into ramming them out of the Hoenn Champion chamber with Zen Headbutt, which has Muninn impale himself on Ever's Skarmory feathers.
  • Jerkass: He's a massive asshole who's even willing to join Cipher of his own free will in order to further his horrible ends.
  • Kick the Dog: Used Ever as his toy for most of the Orre arc, and manipulates Pleth under his guise as Must.
  • Master Race: As far as he's concerned the "lesser species" should just grovel at his kind's non-existent feet.
  • Meaningful Name: Muninn is named after one of the messenger ravens from Norse Mythology, whose name translates into "memory" or "mind," and used to work under former Cipher Admin Odin.
  • Morphic Resonance: As Must he has one missing wing, representing the one that got crippled at the climax of the Orre arc.
  • Time Abyss: Is more than 7,000 years old.
  • Was It All a Lie?: When Pleth asks him if he truly felt anything for her after he sheds his Must disguise, he tells her that every moment felt like "exquisite torture."

  • And Your Little Dog, Too!: Orders her mons to kill Ever and company's mons in order to force them into compliance when they refuse to help her with her revival scheme.
  • Badass Crew: Her mons are powerful enough to take on more two or more Champion level opponents at once without breaking a sweat.
  • Lack of Empathy: Thinks little of placing Cornelia inside a suit that ramps up her anger and paranoia to the point of compliance because she wasn't into reviving the original Revy or forcing Ever and co into doing it.
  • Semi-Divine: Is part of the line descended from Revy's moment with Tapu Lele, making her part divine.
  • Villainous Legacy: Out of all Revy's descendants, she's the most like him in terms of ruthlessness and evil.

Hygeia (Blissey)

  • Deadly Doctor: She's a murderous Blissey who likes fighting with scalpels and is capable of cutting with literally surgical precision.
  • Dissonant Serenity: Even while trying to murder people, she keeps a smile on her face while talking like she's treating a patient.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: Dinacia defeats her by hitting her with a Thunder Punch... Which just so happens to conduct with the 255 scalpels, electronic devices, and other metal tools on her person to knock her out at 255 times normal strength.
  • Mighty Glacier: Circumvents her offensive weaknesses by using weapons and moves that deal fixed amounts of damage, like Seismic Toss.
  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Blissey are often depicted as very kind Pokémon. Not her.

Baccarat (Togekiss, female)

Revy's Togekiss, who exclusively uses Metronome.

  • Lightning Bruiser: An exceptional flier, and thanks to Metronome can pull immensely powerful moves out of nowhere.
  • Practical Taunt: Loves opening up with Taunt.
  • Slasher Smile: Wears a murderous smile in the midst of combat.
  • Villain Song: She spends a lot of time singing about her Metronome skill.
  • Villain Teleportation: Is well known for using and abusing Teleport.

Elysium (Sawsbuck, male)

Revy's Sawsbuck.

  • Green Thumb: Is Grass-type, and mostly uses Grass-type attacks.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Both fast enough to evade multiple beam attacks at once, and strong enough to oneshot most of All or Ever's Pokemon.
  • Practical Taunt: In his first appearance, uses Rage Powder to keep Ever and All from working together.

    Kusaru

Kusaru Ameno

An aura wielding spirit, brother of Hikaru and thus an ancient relative of Jason's. Bears a grudge against Hikaru's bloodline for defeating and sealing him away when they were both still alive.

  • Demonic Possession: Attempted to possess Jason by helping to unlock Jason's Auric potential before using it as an outlet to influence him. Is currently successfully possessing another body with no clear indication of the fate of his host.
  • The Empath: A side effect of his Auric powers. Has a habit of attempting emotional manipulation in order to get what he wants.
  • Power Incontinence: Never learned to get his empathetic senses under control, and eventually went mad while on a pilgrimage due to sensing too much. Seems to have gained some amount of control during his time as a spirit.
  • Revenge Through Corruption: His primary goal so far is to take Jason's body for himself as vengeance on Hikaru for sealing him away.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Eventually plans to murder everyone so he can finally be alone with his thoughts and emotions.

  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: His killing of Channah's mons before killing himself happened at the age of 12.

    Orlando Rosa

Constantin's mentor of sorts and a former School alumni, who used Volpe and Constantin amongst other Auric children as hitmen and guinea pigs for experimentation.

  • The Ghost: While his influence looms large, he's never seen onscreen.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Died around 2005, but his racist views had a major influence in shaping Constantin's worldview, particularly in terms of white supremacy.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Was quite racist and favoured Constantin over the other Auric children he gathered because he was the most white-looking.
  • Posthumous Character: Died back around 2005, and isn't seen onscreen even in a flashback, but the stories Volpe tells Tagg about him tell you everything you need to know about how much of a scumbag he was.
