    The Avengers
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/phase_4_the_avengers_by_freemanwriter_dfkue56_fullview_1.png
The Full Roster
Earth's mightiest heroes brought together to face the threats no single hero can withstand. Currently split into two groups after several members were transported to a galaxy far, far away during a mission.

Reunited at last after 99 chapters, save Bruce Banner/Hulk.

In General

  • Avengers Assemble: For more reasons than the obvious; most of the first seventy chapters are about the Avengers finding each other after they're displaced into this galaxy. Even after the twelve Avengers sent to this new galaxy have been reunited as a team, they still have to find a way back to Earth and the Earth-based Avengers, or at least establish a two-way transport so that they can get allies to help against Ultron.
    • After 99 chapters, at long last, all the Avengers have united. The only outlier who remains is Bruce Banner/Hulk.
  • Field Promotion: Various Avengers have taken on leadership roles in the Grand Army of the Republic; Matt Murdock in particular had to explicitly tell some of the clones to just consider him another soldier rather than any kind of commander just because he was an Avenger.
  • I Choose to Stay: Thor's arrival on Mortis gives the Avengers the ability to return to Earth, but they choose to keep fighting alongside the Republic until Ultron has been defeated. Even after Ultron's defeat, the team all make plans to maintain a presence in this galaxy to help their friends and lovers.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Basically, nobody in this galaxy knows how to deal with most of the Avengers' powers or equipment.
  • Secret-Keeper: The entire Coruscant team knows about Anakin and Padme and have promised not to say anything, expanding that attitude to their own members as Peter and Steve pursue relationships with other Jedi.
  • Spotting the Thread: The lost team notice something's off about the war and start their own investigation into events. This leads to them discovering the control chips implanted in the Clone army far earlier then the chips were revealed in canon. By the time of Ultron's defeat, they are all essentially in agreement that Palpatine is the Sith Lord behind the Clone Wars even if they have no definite evidence.
  • Took a Level in Badass: After the displaced Avengers regain contact with Earth, Shuri sends a large amount of vibranium with Thor that the displaced heroes can use to upgrade their equipment.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Just about every one of the Avengers is a Deadpan Snarker, and they're not afraid of teasing each other or their friends and close allies.
  • Worthy Opponent: While frustrated at their interference, Palpatine has privately acknowledged the Avengers as worthy foes who will be a legitimate challenge to his plans despite coming from a primitive world. Count Dooku has acknowledged that as well.

Steve Rogers/Captain America

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/captain_america_4.jpg
Captain America

One of the founding Avengers, Steve Rogers is the legendary star-spangled super soldier hero of World War II and leader of the Avengers transported to a distant galaxy.

  • Age-Gap Romance: He is, technically, around 70-80 years older than Aayla Secura, who's in her late 20s.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Steve's a friendly, humble man, but he's also a seasoned soldier who has earned the respect of his fellow Avengers and not someone anybody wants to be an enemy of.
  • Blue Is Heroic: As well as red and white.
  • Character Development: As a result of his spending time in Galaxy Far Far Away (especially with Aayla Secura), he finally moved on from Peggy Carter and quit living in the past. Eventually, he replaced the photo of Peggy in his compass with a photo of Aayla, musing that Peggy was his First Love but after she moved on it's only right that he do the same.
  • Chick Magnet: Quinlan Vos lampshades it, while teasing Aayla over her crush for Steve Rogers:
Quinlan: I mean, that guy is easy on the eyes. Seriously, I can see a lot of ladies throwing themselves at him. Betcha it's already happened.
  • Commonality Connection: With Anakin Skywalker (BOTH Military Maverick with Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right! mindset, similar unpriviliged background, poster heroes with Living Legend status, Frontline General, and having Secret Relationship with their lovers )
Plo: I can't decide which one is worse or better. The Super Soldier or the Maverick Jedi.
Ahsoka: No wonder those two get along.
  • Friend to All Children: Steve Rogers looks after Padmé Amidala's niece before and during the Siege of Naboo. Later, Steve basically ends up giving a What the Hell, Hero? speech to the Jedi when he reveals that he is uncomfortable with the Order 'recruiting' young children.
  • Genius Bruiser: master fighter and tactician, with diplomatic skills and political sawy.
  • Good Is Not Dumb: Despite being a hero fighting to keep the peace, Steve Rogers shows time and time again that he's not naïve when it comes to the inevitability of war, considering his own experiences in World War II and his efforts against Project Insight. He's also very perceptive of other peoples' intentions and can play the political game. This trait is what makes him a big threat in Palpatine's eyes.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold:
  • Human Popsicle: Due to his deliberately crashing Red Skull's flying-wing bomber, the Valkyrie, into the Arctic Ocean to save American lives. By the time he defeated the Red Skull and could take control of the plane, he was too far away from any usable landing sites.
  • Inter Species Romance: He's a human involved with Rutian Twi'lek Jedi Knight Aayla Secura.
  • It's All My Fault: Though Ultron is not his creation, Steve still blames himself for the machine being in this galaxy, believing that the Avengers finished him off on Earth when they should have been more thorough, leaving Steve hating himself for allowing Ultron to run rampant across the galaxy when he could have taken more precautions.
  • The Leader: While some question how a Captain can give orders to a Colonel, Rhodey justifies the anomaly by explaining that Cap is the best of the Avengers and a natural leader.
  • Love at First Sight: Heavily downplayed, but Steve immediately finds Aayla Secura attractive due to her unique appearance.
  • Not So Above It All: Steve is completely invested in showing their friends Lord of The Rings and "spreading the good word of J.R.R. Tolkien. He casually reveals afterwards that Tolkien signed his copy of the Hobbit in 1944 and is obviously enjoying himself when he doesn't follow up on this, leaving his teammates flabbergasted.
  • Older Than He Looks: Much to shock of Jedi and Clone Troopers BOTH.
  • Pinball Projectile: His Vibranium shield during fights, much to the awe of Clone Troopers and Anakin Skywalker.
  • Shield Bash: His trademark style of combat involves hitting people with his shield.
  • Shipper on Deck: After the Earth-based heroes are reunited with the displaced Avengers, Steve shows full support of Bucky’s romantic relationship with Celeste Morne. Eventually, Steve and Aayla have a double date with Bucky and Celeste.
  • The Soft-Hearted Warrior:
  • Super-Soldier: The Super Solider.
  • Their First Time: His and Aayla’s Pre-Climax Climax in chapter 107.
  • Throwing Your Shield Always Works: His signature move.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Steve basically ends up giving one to the Jedi when he reveals that he is uncomfortable with the Order 'recruiting' young children. The other Avengers share his discomfort after he tells them about this, although Master T'ra Saa attempts to give Steve a better understanding of the Jedis' motives.
  • You Remind Me of X: Steve hasn’t outright said it, but his sense of discomfort around Palpatine and a vague feeling that the other man reminds him of someone is almost certainly a reference to Alexander Pierce, which Steve eventually consciously acknowledges after Palpatine sends Republic forces to Mandalore even after the planet officially declines aid from the Republic.
    • On a more positive example, when Steve meets 99- an elderly clone- during the Battle of Kamino, Steve assures the clone that he just needs to be a good man even if he's physically weak by recalling his own opportunity to become the soldier he is today.

Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/infinite_wars__black_widow_season_4_by_freemanwriter_dgqdyno_fullview.jpg
Black Widow

A founding member of the Avengers. Trained in various forms of combat, a former SHIELD and KGB agent, she now serves as an Avenger and is one of its longest tenured members. Defacto second-in-command of the Coruscant-based team.

  • Action Mom: Was a long-term Avenger and secret agent before she became the adoptive mother of Mara Jade.
  • Badass Normal: No obvious powers, but she has managed to take on a Sith acolyte with only some assistance from Hope.
  • Number Two: Acts as such to the displaced Avengers.
  • Promoted to Parent: Claims the Force Sensitive Mara Jade as her own.
  • Shipper on Deck: Natasha muses that she is at least aware of Anakin and Padme's attraction to each other and expresses the private hope that they have a chance to talk about their feelings after the war, even before she learns that they're already married. She also subtly helps Barriss and Ahsoka try and flirt with Peter Parker after realising their interest in him.
    • She later notices how cozy Steve and Aayla are, and begins to conspire with Bly to get them together.
  • Significant Anagram: When initially acting as a bounty hunter, and during later discreet investigations, Natasha goes by the alias "Shataan".

James Rhodes/War Machine

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/war_machine_1.jpg
War Machine

Ace pilot and best friend to Tony Stark, with a custom suit better fitted to his means of kicking ass and taking names. A long tenured hero, a staunch Avenger and loyal to his friends.

  • Ace Pilot: The War Machine armor can make people forget that Rhodey was a seasoned Air Force pilot long before he became an Avenger, having flown a hundred-and-thirty-eight combat missions. He not only learns how to pilot space craft but also provides Anakin's fliers with insight on Earth combat manoeuvres like the Finger-Four Formation, earning him even more respect from the troops.
  • Arch-Enemy: Finds himself one in the form of Durge, who returns the sentiment.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: War Machine versus Separatist battle droids is amusingly one-sided in Rhodes’ favour.
  • One-Man Army: All of the Avengers can be considered this to some degree, but Rhodey stands out with the sheer firepower of his armor.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: When Vulture droids swarm his ship in Chapter 15, what does War Machine do? He has his personal AI Tap plot a course through the Separatist command ship, ejects while detonating his ship, and tears through the ship with nothing but his own suit's firepower.
  • Power Armor: He has his own variant of the Iron Man armor with much more weaponry.
  • Ship Tease: Once Earth makes contact with the Galaxy Far, Far Away, Tony immediately starts to suggest that Rhodey should pursue a relationship with Luminara, despite Rhodey's protests about the Jedi's rules against relationships.

Sam Wilson/The Falcon

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/falcon_3.jpg
Sam Wilson/Falcon

Aviator with a military background like Cap and Rhodey, one of Steve's most loyal friends and a dedicated Avenger.

  • Ace Pilot: Similar to Rhodey, Sam served in the Air Force before becoming a superhero. He takes to learning how the clones' ships work pretty quickly and participates in space battles as well as ground ones.
  • All Therapists Are Muggles: Defied; Sam sets up a few sessions to discuss issues such as how those at the Citadel are coping with what they witnessed, and even offers to talk with Anakin about his reaction to learning about the chips in the clones.
  • Badass Normal: Superficially, his abilities are the most straightforward of the Avengers, as he was basically a standard lieutenant in the regular military before receiving his wings (Dooku has been shown reflecting that jetpacks aren't that uncommon), but he still fights with such skill that he's compared to a Jedi.
  • Commonality Connection: Before becoming Cap's new partner he was a counsellor for veterans, his girlfriend Dani does similar work with those affected by the Republic-Sepratist War.
  • Interspecies Romance: Dating a Zeltron named Dani.
  • Rule of Cool: Despite the clones having jetpacks, they are all agreed that Sam Wilson's wings are just cool.
  • Token Human: Most of the Avengers have issues with their past, their present and their powers to one degree or another. Sam's just a soldier with a jetpack and training, but he approaches their role with a more down to earth perspective by comparison to all the others.

Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/quicksilver_5.jpg
Quicksilver

Twin brother to Wanda, former Sokovian citizen who once fought against the team, but joined soon after to seek redemption.

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Pietro makes a significant impression during his time on Ryloth as he uses his experience fighting Ultron to tear through droids with his bare hands.
  • Due to the Dead: Has retained the lightsaber of Ima-Gun Di after witnessing Grievous kill his friend and has set about training with it, which is permitted by the Jedi Order despite the usual rules against non-Force-users possessing a lightsaber as all relevant parties understand that Pietro will take care of it. He's later seen in a Youngling's lightsaber class learning how to use it properly.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: With Ima-Gun Di, The 71st legion and The Ryloth resistance including Cham Syndulla.
  • Friend to All Children: While protecting soldiers from the Separatists and gathering supplies, Pietro also takes time to collect a few toys for the children.
  • Interspecies Romance: Dating Senator Riyo Chuchi, a Pantoran.
  • Manchild: Invoked, as it is noted he still enjoys kid's films such as (what appears to be) Toy Story.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Died in battle with Ultron in canon, but survived the Battle of Sokovia in this version of events.
  • Super-Speed: He's a quick little bastard.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Takes up Imma-Gun's Lightsaber after the Jedi is killed by Grievious and he still has it at his friend's funeral. He has since been shown joining some classes at the Jedi Temple to get a better feel for how to use the weapon.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: A good description of Pietro's use of a lightsaber in the Battle of Kamino; he obviously doesn't have the Force or any real training in lightsaber combat, but his sheer speed allows him to hold his own against Grievous and a Sith Acolyte, forcing Grievous to retreat.

Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scarlet_witch_61.jpg
Scarlet Witch with lightsabers

Twin sister to Pietro, Sokovian who was tricked by Ultron into fighting against the Avengers, before joining the team as part of an attempt to atone for the sins of her past.

  • Achievements in Ignorance: Wanda discovers a major piece of Sith history during her time on Dathomir in the form of the lightsaber belonging to the first Sith Apprentice Zannah, apprentice of Darth Bane since the Rule of Two was established, but to her it's just an interesting detail.
  • Action Mom: As the guardian of Merrin and Illyana.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: At least for the Scarlet Witch, who makes her debut seven to eight years earlier than her Sacred Timeline counterpart in WandaVision.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Wanda's powers superficially resemble the powers of a Sith, but she is a trusted Avenger.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: Wanda can sense enough to at least be fairly sure that Palpatine is evil, but he has enough mental defences that she can't get any details without making it obvious what she's doing.
  • Dual Wielding: Wanda will eventually learn how to wield multiple lightsabers using her abilities rather than just holding them in her hands.
  • Easily Forgiven: When Wanda first meets Jennifer Walters, she apologises for provoking Bruce (Jen's cousin) into a rampage back on Earth, but Jen makes it clear that as far as she's concerned Wanda is only guilty of being manipulated by Ultron, and she and Pietro have more than made up for that mistake.
  • Honorary True Companion: Wanda is accorded the status of an honorary Nightsister after she saves Dathomir, but makes it clear she won't take part in the rituals to 'officially' join the clan as she considers the Avengers her team first and foremost.
  • Parental Substitute: After Merrin's and Illyana's parents die during Zalem's attempted coup, Wanda becomes their guardian.
  • Red Is Heroic: Duh.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Receives training in hand-to-hand combat from the Nightsisters of Dathomir, and also receives training from the spirits of two Sith that allow her to adapt Force techniques in using her own powers, as well as granting her some knowledge of lightsaber combat.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Wanda would appear to be this to the Avengers from the perspective of the Jedi, considering that her powers bear a strong resemblance to the powers of a Sith, but Obi-Wan and others recognise that she is on their side.

Vision

Species: Synthezoid

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/infinite_wars_season_4_2_12.jpg
Vision

A Synthetic android made from a combination of JARVIS, Stark, Banner and Ultron who fights for the side of life.

  • The Apprentice: Spends some time learning about the Force and the Infinity Stones with the aid of the Bendu.
  • Eating Optional: When invited to join the Mandalorians for a meal, Vision is surprised to find that he is actually capable of eating and drinking, although he notes that he'll have to work out where any waste goes later.
  • He's Back!: Due to being isolated and alone for much of the plot, his triumphant return in the Mandalorian Summit arc provides a grand reminder of his strength, wisdom and goodness, particularly when he begins to fight back against his father/brother.
  • Logical Weakness: While Vision is capable of surviving in outer space on his own, he lacks the ability to travel faster than light on his own power, requiring him to wait until a ship arrives to travel elsewhere.
  • Not So Above It All: Quickly joins Peter and Wanda in showing off how they can instantly change outfits; Wanda with her magic, Vision through illusions, and Peter with the symbiote.
  • Superpower Lottery: One of the two most powerful Avengers lost from the first team. With flight, super strength, phasing, laser attacks, technical sabotage, super intelligence, and even image projection.

Scott Lang/Ant-Man II

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ant_man_6.jpg
Ant-Man
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gi_ant_man_vs_zillo_beast.jpg
Scott as Gi-Ant-Man

Divorced ex-con, former cat-burglar and loving father turned legacy superhero.

  • Action Dad: Primarily became Ant-Man to inspire his daughter.
  • The Beastmaster: His helmet allows him to control ants.
  • Friend to All Children: Being a father himself, Scott is shown to be a caring and encouraging individual to the Jedi younglings.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: While he's not at the same level of expertise as Tony or Hank, Scott is still pretty good with machines, working with Hope to provide new gear for the Avengers and the Republic troops.
  • Legacy Character: The second Ant-Man.
  • Papa Wolf: As a result of being a father himself he's very protective of children.
  • Power-Strain Blackout: When Scott goes giant for the first time, reaching a height far beyond his standard sixty feet to stop the Zillo beast, he explicitly states that he can only hold this size for a few minutes before he'll pass out, and he takes two weeks to regain consciousness after the fight.
  • Sizeshifter: He can either shrink to the size of an ant or grow into a towering giant.
  • Trojan Horse: Thanks to advice from Anakin, Scott is able to shrink down and essentially take control of a droid soldier by placing himself in its CPU.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: When Hope mentions that she wants a baby, Scott expresses concern about his own abilities as a parent given how he's had so little contact with Cassie, but Hope assures him that the fact that Cassie still sees him as her hero proves that he's a good father.

Hope van Dyne/The Wasp II

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_wasp.jpg
The Wasp

Scott Lang's girlfriend and partner, daughter of the original Ant-Man and Wasp.

  • Friend to All Children: Hope convinces a couple of clones to help her protect a Twi'lek child during the mission to Ryloth despite the additional challenge.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: With Hank still on Earth, Hope is the biggest expert on the Pym Particles she, Hank and Scott use, and she's well-versed in technology otherwise. She often works with Scott to improve and develop new gadgets for their friends.
  • Hero of Another Story: Spent time trying to defend the Lumen from the Separatists before the other Avengers found her.
  • Heroic Lineage: Daughter of the original Ant-Man and Wasp.
  • Legacy Character: The second Wasp.
  • Official Couple: With Scott Lang since the start of the story.
  • Sizeshifter: She can shrink down to the size of an insect.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Chezo Neva makes herself an enemy for life when she brags to Hope about putting her hands all over Scott.

Tony Stark/Iron Man

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/infinite_wars_iron_man_season_4_by_freemanwriter_dgprth9_fullview.jpg
The Armored Avenger

A founding member of the Avengers. Genius, billionaire, former playboy, philanthropist and leader of the remaining Avengers on Earth.

  • Combat Pragmatist: When accused of fighting without honor, Tony responds that he just doesn't play by those standards.
  • Commonality Connection: He relates to Shang-Chi and Xialing's daddy issues wants to help them get the closure he never did.
  • Didn't Think This Through: When Tony tries to recruit Luke Cage and Danny Rand for the Avengers by copying Nick Fury's lines upon their first meeting, Luke and Danny point out that the existence of the Avengers means that they both already know about the "bigger world" they're becoming part of.
  • Ignorant of Their Own Ignorance: Assumed that the Ten Rings were just a creation of Stane and Killian, so is shocked to learn that they're a "legitimate" terrorist organisation that has exisited for centuries.
  • It's All My Fault: When meeting the Jedi Council, Tony fully admits that the damage caused by Ultron falls upon his shoulders given his role in the creation of the genocidal A.I., and affirms that he will do everything in his power to rectify his mistake.
  • It's Personal: Part of the reason he takes part in the mission against the Ten Rings - the hardships he had to endure facing both a copycat group and a Renegade Splinter Faction of the real one means that he feels a need to help face the genuine article when the organization is finally revealed to him.
  • The Leader: With Cap being among the missing Avengers, Tony is now the one in charge of the remaining team on Earth and recruits new members as well.
  • Manchild: Acting team leader or not, Tony still defaults to this approach, such as annoying Doctor Strange into showing him some mystical artefacts (to be fair to Tony, this approach works).
  • The Nicknamer: He calls Bucky Barnes Manchurian Candidate ; Celeste Morne stargirl ; Stephen Strange Dumbledore ; Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider a raging matchstick . After he arrived on Tython in chapter 98/99 , he called Obi-Wan Kenobi Treebeard , Anakin Skywalker Maverick , and Aayla Secura Neytiri , much to three Jedi’s confusion.
  • Offing the Offspring: He's the one who finally kills Ultron, his "son", in the opening chapter of Season 4.
  • Power Armor: The Armored Avenger.
  • Red Is Heroic: His armour.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: His reaction when he first sees Jen hulking out. Up close. After he was rudely dismissing her.
  • Shipper on Deck: When Thor delivers the holographic messages to the Earth-based team, Tony expresses amused support of Peter having "scored" with two hot alien women despite Peter's own discomfort.
    • When reunited with the rest of the Avengers, he notes how several of the stranded heroes found relationships in the galaxy far, far away, but not his best friend Rhodey, much to the Colonel’s grief. He’s then introduced to Master Luminara, and immediately notes her and Rhodey’s closeness, and proceeds to give his best friend even more grief in his encouragement.
    • He also approves Steve’s and Aayla’s Relationship Upgrade
  • Worthy Opponent: Wenwu/the Mandarin comes to consider him one, Tony being one of the most challenging opponents the long-lived conqueror has ever faced.

Clint Barton/Hawkeye

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fiverr28224.jpg
Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye

A founding member of the Avengers. The world's greatest marksmen, former SHIELD assassin, happily married father of three and long-time friend and partner of The Black Widow. Acting as de facto second-in-command of the Earth based team.

  • Action Dad: Has three children, and wants to go into semi-retirement to spend more time with them even as he finds himself obliged to return to life as an Avenger.
  • Badass Normal: His only true unique skill is a mastery of the bow and arrow, but he's still considered one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: In his own words, he's the second most moral of the founding Avengers after Steve, but he did work for SHIELD and knows interrogation methods that will make a Ten Rings member talk.
  • The Bus Came Back: Despite his plan to retire, Clint returns to active duty when the rest of the team disappear.
  • Commonality Connection: He and Guang Bo quickly come to respect each other as master archers.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror: His SHIELD training has conditioned him to simply wave off dead criminals as collateral damage, he's not proud of this.
  • Happily Married: To his wife, Laura.
  • Honorary Uncle: When he and Natasha are reunited, he "introduces" himself to the infant Mara Jade as her Uncle. He also quickly becomes this to Merrin and Illyana upon meeting them.
  • Number Two: Acts as this to the Earth based Avengers.
  • Parental Substitute: Serves as this to the Maximoffs in some capacity, although he has been compared to an uncle rather than an outright father figure. Noticeably, when the lost Avengers sent discs to their friends and family on Earth explaining that they're okay and what they've been up to both twins sent him one.
  • Master Archer: As per the norm for the characer.
  • The Mentor: Joins Guang Bo in training Katy Chen in archery. Later continues then when she joins the Avengers.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: From Tony's perspective, as he's stunned to learn that Clint knew about Jennifer's existence when he didn't; Clint observes that he's well-qualified to understand why someone in their line of work would keep family secret.
    • He also made Squirrel Girl a reserve Avenger as he "knows things about her."
  • Team Dad: More or less how he acts in spare time at the base, especially around Shuri.
  • Token Human: Like Sam, Clint has no obvious powers beyond his great aim, but he's the most human member of the team as he has the most grounded civilian life, to the extent that he even has a wife and children.

Hank Pym/Ant-Man I

Species: Human (Earth)

Inventor of the sizeshifting Pym Particle allowing him to become the original Ant-Man. Although currently retired from active superheroics, he joins the Earth team in an advisory role after his daughter and successor vanish.

  • Expert Consultant: Basically, Doctor Pym's role in the Avengers, as he's too old for field work and the Pym particles would have a negative effect on his mental health if he used them again but all remaining heroes value his scientific expertise.
  • Old Superhero: The original Ant-Man from the Cold war.
  • Papa Wolf: When Scott and Hope talk about having a child, the ex-con mentions Hank will probably try and kill him.
  • Retired Badass: As the original Ant-Man he performed covert missions for SHIELD during the Cold War.

Bruce Banner/Hulk

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

A founding member of the Avengers. Mild-mannered expert in the field of Gamma Radiation, but when angered undergoes a startling transformation into the strongest Avenger. Currently on the planet Sakaar.

  • Dark and Troubled Past: Brought up when Danny Rand asks his cousin Jennifer why she has so much more control over her transformations than her cousin, and Jennifer mentions how Bruce grew up under an abusive father, culminating in him witnessing his father murder Bruce's mother.
  • The Ghost: While Hulk's been mentioned a few times, the not-so-jolly green giant has yet to make an appearance in person.

Peter Parker/Spider-Man

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spider_man_season_4.jpg
Spider-Man and Simby, swinging into action

Just your average friendly neighbourhood teenage super nerd turned hero. Recruited by Tony Stark to bolster the team's ranks, but later joins the team lost in space.

  • Ascended Fanboy: Comes across as this on various occasions given his interest in science-fiction and related genres back on Earth, such as practically begging to be allowed to deal with the traps in the temple on Ossus based on his knowledge of Indiana Jones.
  • The Beastmaster: On Earth, Spider-Man pretends to be capable of communicating with spiders as part of an interrogation he is conducting with Daredevil.
  • The Chosen One: On Mortis, the Force Ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn muses to Obi-Wan about how Peter might have a destiny as pivotal as Anakin's.
    • Happens again in Nelvaan, when he accidentally disrupts a ritual hunting and has to take the Nelvaanian hunter's place as an apology.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: Word of God affirms that early on, Peter was too new to his powers for his spider-sense to help him realise that Palpatine is a threat; and by the time the Avengers are fairly sure that the Chancellor is hiding something, they don't have any evidence to indicate what that something is, and can't dig much deeper without giving away that they're on to him.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: While not officially qualified as such, he has shown his own skill at various gadgets, such as creating web grenades that can trap people in webbing which he has shared with some of the clones.
  • Genre Savvy: While he enjoys the benefits of the black suit, he muses that he's seen enough science-fiction to be wary of relying too heavily on a living creature that formed this kind of bond with him.
  • Honorary True Companion: Seems to be regarded as such by a unit of the Coruscant Guard as they regularly team up for patrols when he's on the planet. By Chapter 84, Peter has a communicator just to keep in touch with them and the unit have started painting webs on their gunships.
  • Ignorant of Their Own Ignorance: When meeting his alternate selves in the Spider-Verse arc, he has no knowledge of the rogues that traditionally focus on Spider-People in other realities, such as being taken by surprise when he first meets the Sinister Six.
  • In Spite of a Nail: While he (hopefully) won’t have to have all memory of his existence erased, Peter still decides to go for a GED rather than finishing high school as he’s been away too long.
  • Interspecies Romance: Becomes involved with Ahsoka Tano and Barriss Offee, a Togruta and a Mirialan respectively.
  • Likes Older Women: It's noted that Barriss is around a year older than him.
  • Open Secret: May apply as Steve Rogers himself confirms that Peter is an Avenger when addressing his fellow former students; while he doesn’t specifically introduce Peter as Spider-Man, the clues won’t be that hard to put together.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. Star Lord of the Guardians' real name is Peter Quill, which causes some brief confusion when Gamora mentions him when the Guardians and Avengers first meet.
  • One True Threesome: His romance with Ahsoka Tano and Barriss Offee.
  • The Paragon: With his simple morals and sense of responsibility, he's starting to inspire the padawans of the galaxy to become more and do better. He also inspired Lux Bontera to join Onderonian rebels against a usurper, much to the chagrin of Lux's mother.
  • Polyamory: After the Mortis Arc he enters into a relationship with both Ahsoka and Barriss.
  • Red Is Heroic: His suit's color... at least, when the Symbiote suit isn't being used.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Peter doesn't explicitly say this, but when he joins Padme, Ahsoka and Barriss in visiting an old mentor of Padme's who's now on the Separatists' side, he provides them with a data patch developed by Tap and Karen that may help prevent Ultron hacking into the Separatists' systems after the AIs devised similar protection for the Republic.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Acquires a Symbiote while exploring The Son's fortress on Mortis, which he can basically use on instinct. When he joins the Spider-Gang, Old Peter in particular is incredulous at his various advantages, but Peter counters that since he's fighting in a galactic war against a genocidal A.I. he needs those extras. By the time of the final clash against Ultron, Peter has developed a suit that basically serves as a boost for the symbiote, allowing him to channel the power of both rather use one or the other.
  • Working-Class Hero: Even on another planet, Spider-Man tries to be this, occasionally going on patrols on Coruscant to help deal with local gang problems when between missions for the war.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: Even after the discovery of the Infinity Gate, Peter muses that he can't see himself returning to high school as it would feel more like an obligation of choice rather than necessity even if he'd like to see his old friends again, and it would probably be simpler to get his GED.
  • Young and in Charge: When he becomes part of the Spider-Gang, this Peter seems to act as the team leader despite Peter B. and Noir being adults, as this Peter has experience of facing threats on a larger scale due to his role in the Clone Wars with the Avengers where most Spiders are solo vigilantes focusing on street-level criminals on Earth.

Matt Murdock/Daredevil

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/daredevil_35.jpg
Daredevil

The Devil of Hell's Kitchen, lawyer by day, vigilante by night. Recruited by Tony Stark after the majority of the team vanished. Later teleported to the planet Jedha.

  • Badass Normal: His only actual abilities are enhanced senses, most of which essentially serve to compensate for his blindness, but he's still skilled enough that all involved consider him a worthy addition to the team.
  • The Gadfly: Matt's as snarky as his fellow Avengers, but he really enjoys riling Bo-Katan up in their interactions.
  • Handicapped Badass: He's completely blind but he can still kick ass in a fight.
  • Red Is Heroic: His costume is shades of red and black.
  • The Spock: While hardly unfeeling, Matt's law background makes taking logical, clinical approaches to interactions only natural to him.
  • Ship Tease: With Bo-Katan.
  • Super-Senses: His radar sense allows him to sense his surroundings to the point that his blindness is barely a hindrance.
  • Swiss-Army Weapon: After he joined the team, Tony redesigned Daredevil's batons to give them multiple functions, including grappling hooks and flails.

T'Challa/Black Panther

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/black_panther_season_4.jpg
Black Panther

The crown prince of Wakanda and current bearer of the Black Panther mantle. Came to New York and teamed up with Spider-Man and Daredevil in pursuit of the criminal known as Klaw, later transported to the planet Kashyyk.

  • Animal Motifs: Panthers, duh.
  • Berserk Button: When staying with the Wookies on Kashyyk, he is particularly outraged to witness some of them being taken to be sold into slavery, privately reflecting that this is one such action that is guaranteed to anger him.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Upon returning to Earth, he confronts his father about his decision to leave his nephew/T'Challa's cousin behind in America after T'Chaka killed his brother/T'Challa's uncle.
  • Commonality Connection: He and a tribe of Wookiees bond over their mutual respect for nature and strong sense of honour, and he later forms a similar connection to the Night-Sisters given his experience of witnessing the afterlife of his people.
  • Heroic Lineage/Legacy Character: The latest in a long line of Black Panthers.
  • Honor Before Reason: Arguably applies to his decision to stay and help the Avengers against Ultron rather than return to Wakanda when Thor travels to Earth, as his sense of duty won't allow him to abandon his teammates.
  • Honorary True Companion: Is proclaimed to be a member of the clan of Wookies who took him in after he arrived in this galaxy, and has offered to allow them to accompany him back to Wakanda once direct access to Earth has been established. He eventually fulfils this promise, with the implication that the Wookies will become the sixth tribe of Wakanda.
  • Not So Above It All: The next in line for the throne and is quite happy teasing his sister and friends and enjoying a New York hot dog.
  • Outside-Context Problem: While staying on Kashyyk, T'Challa stops a group of Trandoshan slavers who were prepared for the Wookies but not for his own abilities, such as his suit's ability to absorb their attacks.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Some express surprise that a prince is willing to be this far from his kingdom, but T'Challa has faith that his father and sister will manage in his absence.

Luke Cage

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/luke_cage_78.jpg
Luke Cage in his "uniform"

The Hero of Harlem with unbreakable skin, which he gained from an experiment he partook in while serving time for a crime he didn't commit. Recruited by Tony Stark after most of the team vanishes.

  • Catchphrase: “Sweet Christmas!” He's actually pretty protective of it.
  • Genre Savvy: Establishing that the Rakghoul are basically zombies, he notes that he's aware he shouldn't let them bite him.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: Unbreakable skin.
  • No-Sell: It's soon confirmed that Luke Cage's skin is unaffected by blaster fire just as he's unaffected by bullets.
  • Not So Above It All: While not as big a fan as Danny, Luke admits he does enjoy the recognition of being an Avenger.
  • Super-Strength: Well, he is Luke Cage, after all.

Danny Rand-K'ai/Iron Fist

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/iron_fist_season_4.jpg
Danny Rand: The Immortal Iron Fist

The dragon chi powered Guardian of the secret city of K'un Lun. Recruited by Tony Stark after most of the team vanishes.

  • Ascended Fanboy: Despite being out for so long, he's more than happy to join the Avengers when Stark came calling.
  • Birds of a Feather: With Tony — both are rich manchildren who are nonetheless heroic, and also prone to snarling. Both also have rivalries with the Ten Rings - Tony was kidnapped by a Renegade Splinter Faction and then challenged by an imposter organization under Aldrich Killian, while K'un Lun has a rivalry with the genuine article.
  • Enhanced Punch: The power which he gains his title from.
  • Ki Manipulation: The Iron Fist which is taken from the immortal dragon Shao Lao.
  • Legacy Hero: The latest in a long line of Iron Fists.
  • Manchild: In spite of the tragedy and hardship he's endured from a young age, Danny is very in touch with his inner child. As evidenced when he tells Luke and Jessica how excited he is about Rand Enterprises getting into the toy business.
    Jessica: What are you, four?
    Danny: At heart.

Princess Shuri/Black Panther

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shuri_78.jpg
Shuri as Black Panther II

Princess of Wakanda and head of the Wakanda Design Group. Joins the team after her brother vanishes on a mission with two of their members and is forced to take up the mantle of Panther until he is found.

  • Adaptational Modesty: Downplayed. While she still wears a form fitting Panther Habit like her brother, artwork shows it lacks the gold metal highlights of her canon Habit that accentuated her curves, and is more a subdued black and purple like her brother’s. She also has a furred shawl to further downplay her slim figure.
  • Arm Cannon: Her Panther Habit still sports her vibranium hand blasters.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Has focused so heavily on her inventions that T'Challa expresses concern she won't be able to defend his people if she has to become the Black Panther herself, but so far her allies in the Avengers have helped her compensate for that.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: As she is acting as Black Panther while T'Challa is in space, she has consumed the Heart-shaped Herb, granting her enhanced human abilities.
  • Heroic Lineage/Legacy Character: Like her brother she comes from a long line of super powered protectors.
  • Lethal Chef: Despite her skill in other areas, Shuri is such a bad cook that Clint and Tony are genuinely afraid of what she might do if left alone in a kitchen. She has made some improvements later on, but even Karl Mordo agrees to keep an eye on her in case she makes some significant mistake.
    • It has been confirmed she's burned down at least one stove.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Second in line for the throne of Wakanda and head of the Wakandan Design Group pushing her country's already impressive technology even further, as well as acting as her brother's "Guy in the chair".
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Sends Vibranium to the offworld Avengers (via Thor) despite Wakanda's usual policies, leaving a message observing that she's going to do what's right for the Avengers rather than focus on Wakanda's rules.
  • Taking Up the Mantle: After her brother disappears with the Avengers' latest recruits, she steps up as the new Black Panther until he is found, and ends up joining the team alongside Tony, Clint and Jennifer. Also in almost literal sense, as artwork shows her Black Panther suit sporting her comic book’s furred shawl just like a mantle.
  • Training from Hell: Currently going through this after consuming the Heart-Shaped Herb from both Okoye and her new teammates to adjust to her new powers.

Hector Ayala/White Tiger

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/white_tiger_0.jpg
White Tiger

A wrestler, convenience store owner and father from the Bronx, who uses powers bestowed by a mysterious Jade Tiger amulet to protect his neighbourhood. Recruited by Clint Barton after most of the team vanishes.

Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/she_hulk_season_4.jpg
The Sensational She-Hulk

A regular lawyer until she received a blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner, transforming her into the Gamma powered She-Hulk.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: A rare case where the change happens before the source work: chapter 54 reveals that Walters became She-Hulk after receiving a blood transfusion from her cousin Bruce Banner as in the comics. However, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law shows that she was involuntarily contaminated by Banner when his blood entered an open wound on her arm after a car accident.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law sets Jen's first appearance way down the timeline in 2023/24. As this is set soon after Ultron (mid-late 2015), that's an early appearance by several years.
  • Adaptational Nice Girl: Still very self-confident and sometimes a bit snappy, but far, FAR less abrasive and condescending compared to her canon MCU-Counterpart while interacting with her team-mates or generally when the interaction is about Bruce. Wordof God specifically notes that this version of Jen will be more in line with the comics that the TV series, as the author very much does not like how Jen has been portrayed in the MCU.
  • Emerald Power: She's not called The Jade Giantess for nothing.
  • Hulking Out: At will.
  • Super-Strength: She's a Hulk.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Can transform between Jen and She-Hulk at will. The reason for that lies within her upbringing within a loving and stable family, while her cousin was catapulted from one trauma to another over the years.

James Buchanan 'Bucky' Barnes/The Winter Soldier

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bucky_barnes_season_4.jpg
Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier

World War II Veteran, Best friend to Steve Rogers, thought to have been dead until the truth of him being a brainwashed tool for HYDRA was revealed. Now works to undo the sins of his past. In a relationship with Celeste Morne, Jedi Shadow.

  • Age-Gap Romance: Technically speaking, Celeste is around 4000 years older than Bucky.
  • Artificial Limbs: Bucky Barnes has a cybernetic left arm to replace the one he lost during the final part of World War II.
  • Birds of a Feather: He and Celeste share quite a lot in common - both being soldiers/assassins who are Fish out of Temporal Water, were controlled by villains to do horrible things, and initially seek a way to undo their afflictions (Bucky's brainwashing and Mind Control by the Muur Talisman). This leads to them bonding and eventually falling in love.
  • Honorary True Companion: Has no training in magic but is allowed to stay in Kamar-Taj and fights alongside them against the threats of Karness Muur.
  • Human Popsicle: Winter Soldier!Bucky has been put in cryogenic stasis, only being thawed when HYDRA needs him.
  • Likes Older Women: So far, he doesn't have an issue with Celeste Morne being technically around four thousand years older than him.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Celeste Morne for him and vice versa, which is a key factor in their subsequent relationship.
  • Mindlink Mates: Celeste and Bucky are shown to at least have hints at this, as Celeste senses Bucky’s despair when Robbie Reyes’ words suggest that the Ghost Rider is aware of his sins as the Winter Soldier. Celeste even senses it when Zemo triggers Bucky’s brainwashed controls to question him about the Starks’ deaths. In return, Bucky can feel Celeste's sorrow and despair about of how long it has been since she entered stasis to try and contain Karness Muur in chapter 99.
  • Older Than They Look: He is chronologically a year older than Steve, but his handlers' use of cryostasis has had him frozen for 70 years, in contrast to Steve's 67, making him biologically three years younger than his old friend.
  • Sherlock Scan: Upon meeting the Ancient One, Bucky's experiences as both himself and the Winter Soldier allow him to spot the subtle clues that she comes from a Celtic culture while her order was founded in Tibet.
  • Shipper on Deck: He believes Steve and Peggy should have had a long and happy life together, but shows support of Steve's new bond with Aayla Secura when they are reunited.
  • Super-Soldier: Was turned into one while under HYDRA's control.
  • The Team Normal: Basically, qualifies as this for the Masters of the Mystic Arts during the initial fights with Kaecilius as the only person in Kamar-Taj who apparently can't use magic at all, even if he's still stronger and more physically capable than the human norm.

Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider

Species: Human (Earth/Demon Possessed)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ghost_rider.jpg
Ghost Rider

Current host of the Spirit of Vengeance.

  • Blade on a Rope: After picking up an axe in the Sanctum, he uses it as one of his main weapons, swinging around with his chains and blazing with hellfire.
  • 11th-Hour Ranger: Shows up in time to help the Ancient One, Celeste and Bucky fight the initial Rakghoul outbreak.
  • Everyone Has Standards: When talking with Tholme and Quinlan Vos about how he can sense the sins of others, Robbie notes that Zarathos is basically willing to ignore some of the war crimes those present have committed in the face of annihilation, but he does have a problem with the egos of some of those present.
  • Honorary True Companion: While he doesn't consider himself a friend to the Masters of the Mystic Arts or a "hero" in the style of the Avengers, he fights alongside the two groups to help them stop Muur, and maintains contact with them even attending a team meeting and joining the Avengers and the Order against the Ten Rings.
  • Ignorant of Their Own Ignorance: Was one of the gathered heroes back on Earth who had to explicitly ask who Ultron was (it's suggested that others didn't recognize the name, but Reyes was the one who actively asked who he was).
  • Lawful Stupid: Defied - while Zarathos is the literal Spirit of Vengeance, he will acknowledge the circumstances of each sin and ignore some of them if they were done with understandable reasons. Case in point: he ignores some of the war crimes committed by members of the Republic due to the literal genocidal war going on in their galaxy. He won't excuse their egos, though.
  • Story-Breaker Power: A supernaturally powered being with hellfire, durability and long-range weapons? If he gets evil in his sight, they're ash!

Jessica Jones

Species: Enhanced Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jessica_jones_2.jpg
Jessica Jones, reluctant Avenger

Ex-superhero, Private Detective and alcoholic. Hired by May Parker to find her nephew after he disappeared leading her to aiding the Avengers.

  • Adaptational Superpower Change: In the canon MCU she only possessed superhuman strength, but here she has her comic counterpart's flight ability as well.
  • Berserk Button: Despite her usually indifferent façade, the idea of the clones being a victim of mind control because of their control chips is an obvious sore point to Jessica.
  • Determinator: Even being recruited to the Avengers won't stop Jessica Jones wanting to talk to Tony about what happened to Peter Parker (although she agrees to postpone dragging him to answer May's questions until they've stopped Karness Muur).
  • Honorary True Companion: Refuses to officially join the Avengers, but she did assist the team in the final confrontation with Karness Muur and is invited to the subsequent briefing from Thor about their location. She is later shown staying at the team's base with Luke Cage while the rest leaves for Ta Lo, and confirms that she has an I.D. card, but claims she keeps it for the benefits, such as getting more cases and the authorities being more inclined to help her with these connections, rather than considering herself a full member of the team.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Takes time after the initial Rakghoul attack to get a whiskey to help her process the stress of the situation.

Thor Odinson

Species: Asgardian

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/thor_9.jpg
Thor Odinson

A founding member of the Avengers. The God of Thunder and crown prince of Asgard, Thor is one of the most powerful members of the Avengers, a seasoned warrior with 1500 years of experience.

  • Arch-Nemesis: Brief as their fight was, Thor and the Son develop a heated animosity between each other in the clashes they had on Mortis.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Serves as this when he appears on Mortis in time to help Anakin, Obi-Wan, T'Challa, Spider-Man and the Vision face The Son.
  • Horrifying the Horror: His Asgardian powers and immunity to Force Lightning in eyes of Sith and The Son.
  • Instant Messenger Pigeon: zig-zagged, since Thor can travel between Earth and the Galaxy Far, Far Away to relay messages between the Earth-based Avengers and the Coruscant-based team. However, since reaching Mortis exerts a heavy toll in Heimdall, he needs to rest for a while before being able to transport Thor between galaxies again.
  • Inter Species Romance: He's an Asgardian in a relationship with Jane Foster, a human.
  • Lethal Chef: Thor apparently even burnt water when trying to make an Asgardian dish for a meal with Jane, Anakin and Padme.
  • No-Sell: As the God of Thunder, Thor is unaffected by Sith Lightning, even when The Son unleashes it.
  • Really 700 Years Old: He's 1500 years old, a fact that amazes the Jedi Council save Yoda.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Heir to the throne of Asgard, actively one of its chief defenders and is currently investigating the Infinity Stones.
  • Shock and Awe: This is the God of Thunder we're talking about.
  • Thunder Hammer: The God of Thunder with his hammer Mjölnir

Xu Shang-Chi

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shang_chi.jpg
Shang-Chi

A karaoke-loving valet living in San Francisco who is secretly a master martial artist and the heir to the ancient criminal organization, The Ten Rings. He and Katy are hired by Hank Pym as assistants.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: In MCU Canon, his story doesn't kick off until Phase 4 after the Infinity Saga has concluded; here it happens during Phase 3 after the halfway point.
  • Ascended Fan Boy: He and Katy are both big fans of the Avengers, when Cap thanks him for helping the two groups of Avengers reunite his excitement is clear.
  • Bad Ass Normal: No superpowers but can fight off several trained fighters at once, including a giant Romanian with a laser blade. Downplayed later as he starts wielding one of his father's rings, eventually receiving more following his father's death.
  • Fights Like a Normal: Uses realistic fighting techniques before gaining his father's rings.
  • Jack of All Trades: Has trained with many weapons but never found one that he felt really suited him, so he doesn't have a speciality like other combatants.
  • Lazy Alias: He changed his name from Shang-Chi to Shaun.
  • Took a Level in Badass: While already a skilled martial artist, he also starts out with one of his father's ten rings, even if he has only minimal idea how to use it in a fight.

Katy Chen

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/katy_chen.jpg
Katy Chen

Shang-Chi's best friend since high school and fellow valet while also working at Pym Tech. Feared failure so she doesn't try to push her boundaries but when she did she impressed herself and Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: As with Shang-Chi, Katy enters the saga eight years earlier than in canon.
  • Adaptational Job Change: Downplayed. She's still a valet but has a second job at Pym Tech. Later, she's made an Avenger.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Delivers one to Shang and Xialing, asking them to stop thinking about what their father or mother would have wanted and think more about what they want.
  • Ascended Fan Girl: She and Shang are both huge fans of the Avengers before joining. When she meets Steve and shakes his hand she's half way through declaring she's never washing it again until Shang shoots her down then she proceeds excitedly shake hands with Natasha and Sam.
  • Badass Driver: Try to drive a bus with an intense kung-fu fight right behind you.
  • Badass Normal: Especially so, as she only recently started learning archery when she teams up with and joins the Avengers.
  • Composite Character: Her training under Hawekeye makes her one with Kate Bishop.
  • Decomposite Character: Takes Trevour Slattery's place as the human that names and bonds with Morris.
  • Kissed Keepsake: When she first shakes Steve's hand, she immediately declares that she is never going to wash it again, although Shang warns her that he'll reveal an embarrassing secret if she goes through with that particular vow.
  • Token Human: Feels like this when she's informed that she is now considered an Avenger, since she feels that literally anybody could have done what she just did.

Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel

Species: Human (Enhanced)

A human being empowered by exposure to the Space Stone/Tesseract, a hero whose story has yet to be told.

  • The Ghost: Has been indirectly referenced, but hasn't appeared as of yet.
  • Honorary True Companion: Suggested; Maria has mentioned her as a likely candidate for the Avengers, but so far Carol hasn't met the rest of the team.

    Masters of the Mystic Arts
Practitioners of Magic who dedicate themselves to the defence of Earth from more Mystical threats.

General

  • Honorary True Companion: While the surviving Sorcerers prioritise their work in their own Order, they are all considered to be Avengers by the main team of Earth-based heroes.
  • Spanner in the Works: Their willingness to accept suitably open-minded people into their ranks extends to the Jedi and even certain members of the Clone Army, further compromising Palpatine's plans as his potential targets and pawns learn skills he wasn't expecting them to explore.

Tao (The Ancient One)

Species: Human (Earth)

Former Sorcerer Supreme of the Mystic Arts.

  • The Archmage: Served as such a significant figure that after her death, nobody is willing to immediately replace her as Sorcerer Supreme.
  • Badass Teacher: Not only does she free Celeste Morne of the Muur Talisman, but she subsequently teaches Celeste a great deal about the true nature of the Force and various ways to incorporate magic into her existing skills, Celeste in turn respecting the Ancient One as the equivalent of her new Jedi Master.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: survivor of The Black Death pandemic in 14th century, that claimed the most of her family and the Mystic Arts Order, along with larger part of population in Eurasia and Africa.
  • Hypocrisy Nod: She acknowledges her hypocrisy in drawing on power from the Dark Dimension, which helps Mordo accept her as flawed but still good.
  • Immortal Genius: Her experience is so great that she’s even aware of the true nature of the Force, as one of the Order's founders was a Kwa who came to this galaxy centuries ago.
  • Mythology Gag: The Ancient One establishes that her Order was founded by a Tibetan monk, just like the original Ancient One in the comics.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Her name is never given in the movies; here she is named Tao.

Karl Mordo

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/karl_mordo_infinite_wars.jpg
Karl Mordo

Master of the Mystic Arts and Stephen Strange's mentor.

  • Adaptational Heroism: In most continuities Mordo is one of Doctor Strange's most persistent enemies, but here events unfold that lead to him being considered at least an honorary Avenger even if he prioritises his work in the Order.
  • Not So Above It All: Joins Hector in teasing Shuri over the princess' poor cooking skills and poor control of her new powers.
  • Not So Stoic: When Bucky first compares the sorcerers to Gandalf, Mordo observes that he'll take that as a compliment as he likes Gandalf.
  • Principles Zealot: Deconstructed; Mordo starts out with this attitude, but when he accompanies Strange and Celeste for their final talk with the Ancient One, she is able to help him recognise that it’s sometimes acceptable to bend the rules.
  • Rebuilt Pedestal: Strange and Celeste are able to help Mordo gain a better understanding of the Ancient One's motives in channelling the Dark Dimension, so that he doesn't become disillusioned with her like he did in canon. He is even there with them, sharing the Ancient One's last moments.

Wong

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wong_8.jpg
Wong

Librarian and Master of the Mystic Arts, currently pulling double duty as Master of the Hong Kong Sanctum.

  • Ascended Fanboy: One of Wong's most treasured possessions is a signed copy of The Silmarillion (apparently the last signature made by Tolkien before his death).
  • Badass Bookworm: Serves as the librarian of Kamar-Taj, but basically shares the role of Master of the Hong Kong Sanctum with Mordo after the battle against Kaecilius.
  • Commonality Connection: Bonds with Bucky over their shared love of Tolkien's works.
  • Magic Librarian: Focuses on his duties as librarian at Kamar-Taj even after the Ancient One’s death.
  • Shipper on Deck: Supports Bucky and Celeste's romance.

Doctor Stephen Strange

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/doctor_strange_6.jpg
Doctor Strange

Former talented but arrogant neurosurgeon before he suffered serious injuries to his hands in a car accident. Now serves as the Master of the New York Sanctum.

  • Birds of a Feather: To his horror he and Tony Stark have a lot in common, especially before his accident.
  • Humble Pie: Car accident with serious hand injuries.
  • I Hate Past Me: Strange sees a lot of his pre accident self in Tony and isn't exactly happy about regretting what his former colleagues had to put up with.
  • Moment Killer: Defied; Strange explicitly rejects the idea of interrupting a moment between Celeste and Bucky even though he has questions about Bucky’s apparent connection to HYDRA.
  • Rookie Red Ranger: As with Celeste, Strange has become entrusted with the responsibility of guarding a Sanctum despite being a relatively new member of the Order, and some speculate he has the potential to become the new Sorcerer Supreme once he has completed his training.

Celeste Morne

Species: Human (Ossus)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/celeste_morne_7.jpg
Celeste Morne: Jedi Sorceress

A Jedi from 4000 years ago, woken up by Bucky in HYDRA Siberian base , later on becoming a Master of the Mystic Arts and currently serves as Master of the London Sanctum. Also romantic partner to Bucky Barnes.

  • Affectionate Nickname: "Body pillow" for Bucky. In return, Bucky calls her "babe" or "love".
  • Age-Gap Romance: Technically speaking, she is around 4000 years older than Bucky.
  • And I Must Scream: Spent centuries trapped in a stasis chamber with Muur, although it's unclear how conscious she was in this state.
  • Birds of a Feather: She and Bucky share quite a lot in common, both being soldiers/assassins who are Fish out of Temporal Water, were controlled by villains to do horrible things, and initially seek a way to undo their afflictions (Bucky's brainwashing and the Muur Talisman). This leads to them bonding and eventually falling in love.
  • Casting Gag: in My Cast she is played by Katie McGrath , famous as Morgana in Merlin (2008) , who is Sorceress just like AIW!Celeste.
  • Death Seeker: Centuries of captivity with a Sith Lord in her head have left her longing for the end. Luckily, Bucky snapped her out of it.
  • Demonic Possession: The amulet that grabs onto her neck, the Muur Talisman, contains the malevolent ghost of an ancient Sith Lord, and it was a constant struggle to keep him at bay. Celeste was relieved of it by the Ancient One at the end of chapter 51.
  • Fish out of Water: In addition to being awakened 4000 years after her time, she also finds herself in a galaxy far, far away from her own. She notably takes great joy in learning Earth's culture, cuisine, and magic.
  • Going Native: She takes great pleasure in learning Earth's culture, cuisine, and magic. She even got romantically involved with Earth's human: Bucky Barnes. Even after the Earth-based Avengers find their way to her home galaxy, she still accepts Earth as her home.
  • Heroic BSoD: Her reaction to learning that she's been in the oubliette for at least 65 years (based on how long she was on Earth), no longer being in her native galaxy, the resurrection of Karness Muur, and then the Internal Reveal of her having spent over four thousand years in comatose stasis and essentially outliving everyone she knew 4 millennia ago.
  • Heroic Willpower: She's been resisting Muur's attempts to control her body for all that time.
  • Last of Her Kind: While not exactly brought up, she is this on many accounts: She's the last surviving member of the pre-Ruusan Jedi Order, and is thus also the last member of the Jedi Covenant.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Bucky Barnes for her and vice versa, which is a key factor in their subsequent relationship.
  • Magical Girlfriend: She is a Jedi Shadow who later becomes a Master of the Mystic Arts, while her partner Bucky is "just" a physically enhanced human.
In return, Bucky can feel Celeste's sorrow and despair when she learns how long it has been since she sacrificed herself to trap Karness Muur after she returns to her galaxy of origin.
  • Really 700 Years Old: If accounting for the 4000 years she spent in stasis, including around 65 years in a HYDRA Siberian base on Earth, which is coincidentally the same base where Bucky was brainwashed into the Winter Soldier.
  • Rip Van Winkle: She spends 4000 years in oubliette, including 65 years on Earth, while in stasis.
  • Rookie Red Ranger: Despite being a relatively new member of the Order, Celeste's skills are so great that she is entrusted with the responsibility of guarding the London Sanctum after the crisis of Kaecilius and Karness Muur's attack has been resolved.
  • Sage Love Interest: She explains the nature of the Force to Bucky.
  • Sealed Inside a Person-Shaped Can: Celeste Morne discusses her status as this with Bucky, regarding how she is essentially a host for a dark plague.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After centuries of torture and Mind Manipulation, she gets even on Muur by destroying the Muur’s Talisman and participating in annihilating Muur forever.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Already a powerful Jedi, she begins training in the Mystic Arts, learning various secrets of the true nature of the Force from the Ancient One.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: Even after the Earth-based Avengers find their way to her home galaxy, she still accepts Earth as her home, as everyone she knew back in her own galaxy has been dead for millennia, to the extent that during a mass assault on Ultron she's considered part of the Avengers rather than part of the Jedi.

    Avengers' Allies

Old family friend of Jane's and her scientific mentor.

Darcy Lewis

Species: Human (Earth)

Jane's assistant.

  • Dumbass Has a Point: Granted, Darcy isn't an idiot, but it's still a surprise when she's the one to point out that the Avengers being sent to Celeste's home galaxy via the Infinity Gate makes sense as the two are likely linked, with the displacement being random only because nobody at this end really knew what they were doing.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: She notices Anakin’s good looks.
  • Genki Girl:
  • Genre Savvy: Of Jane's team she's the quickest to figure out how to navigate Courscant thanks to years of playing video games set in futuristic cities.

One of Scott’s old gang.

Dave

Species: Human (Earth)

One of Scott’s old gang.

Kurt Goreshter

Species: Human (Earth)

Xu Xialing

Species: Human (Earth)

Daughter of the head of The Ten Rings, and Shang-Chi’s sister.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: A minor one. In this story, she actually is the one to send an invitation to her brother, but only to fight him, and give a "The Reason You Suck" Speech.
  • Adaptational Badass: While just as much of a martial arts master as she is in the movie, to date she never once is seen possessing or utilizing the ten rings weapons. In this story, she stole one just like her brother, and is shown to be able to wield it more skilfully than him thanks to greater experience with it.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Like the rest of her family, her story is taking place during Phase 3 of the Infinity Saga, rather than afterwards in Phase 4.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Her father wielding the rings make them glow blue/purple. Her brother’s usage makes them gold/orange. Her wielding them makes them glow green.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Initially jealous that her brother held their father's favour, which as Katy points out in reflected in colour her rings takes.
  • The Unfettered: Has no problem killing people, especially if it’s to earn her father’s approval.
  • "Well Done, Daughter" Girl: Katy points out that everything she's done has ultimately been to win her father's approval, but she needs to think about what she wants to do with her life.

Morris

Species: Dijiang

A small fantastical creature from the realm of Ta Lo that bonds with Katy Chen.
  • Decomposite Character: He's Katy's Dijiang buddy rather then Trevor's, with that position going to two original Dijiang named Sherlock and Watson.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Invokes this reaction in people after they get over the shock of seeing him for the first time.

Ying Nan

    Other Heroes

Frank Castle/The Punisher

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/punisher_8.jpg
The Punisher

A vigilante antihero who means to clean up the streets from crime by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results. Displaced into the Galaxy Far, Far Away as a side-effect of the Spider-Verse crisis.

  • Badass Normal: No superpowers just military training and he is a force to be reckoned with.
  • Ironic Nursery Tune: While assembling a gun, Frank recites the lines from one of his young daughter's books called "One Batch, Two Batch" before attacking an Irish restaurant attended by the Mob.
Frank Castle: One batch, two batch. Penny and dime.
  • Not So Stoic: Briefly reflects on his boyhood dreams of space travel when he finds himself on Nar Shadda.
  • Spanner in the Works: He turns out to be one for the Ten Rings, as his bloody rampage against the gangs includes their members. This leads to the Avengers discovering their presence in New York, and tracking down their leader, which interferes with his plans. Later on, as part of the reality distortions caused during the Spider-Verse arc, Castle is displaced to Nar Shadda, bringing his one-man-war against the crime syndicates to the Hutts.
  • Terror Hero: His methods against organized crime, in addition to permanently eliminating threats, also serve as a message of spreading fear to the criminal underworld.

    Other Villains

Ultron

Species: Artificial Intelligence (Android)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ultron_674.jpg
Ultron
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ultron_final_form.png
Ultron's final form

Created by Tony Stark for the sake of "peace" now serves as a dread foe that threatens all life within the galaxy far, far away.

  • Adaptational Villainy: Both in comparison to his MCU counterpart as well as his comics version. This version of Ultron is way more cruel, unhinged and sadistic, showing that for all his talks about making the world a better place, it's clear he takes a sick enjoyment over tormenting his enemies in every conceivable level.
  • Archenemy: To the Avengers. He is easily their most personal enemy and their main priority for all of season 3, having had season 2 as his build-up to his return. He more than returns the sentiment hating them all especially his creator Tony.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: In the Ultron Rising Arc, this is one of the biggest wins for a bad guy in this story. Ultron comes out of hiding, attacking the ENTIRE galaxy all at once, striking the intended fear and panic he had planned and later, during the Battle of Jabiim, he successfully defeated BOTH the Republic and Separatist factions on the planet and apparently within the system, gained control of the ore the planet possessed, practically exterminated all sentient life on Jabiim, forced a complete evacuation of the system and captured Steve Rogers.
    • He achieves what is perhaps his greatest victory, if not the greatest victory by a villain in this story by far in chapter 105 when he manages to conquer Kamino and Cato Neimoidia at the same time.
  • Berserk Button: Mention Stark, he will get mad. Compare him to Stark, he will murder you, as Peter nearly found out in Jabiim.
  • Break Them by Talking: Ultron is fond of this. He mocks Padme for accidentally giving him a body, and also manages to shut down the Separatists' attempt to have a peace vote by revealing that the Confederacy has engaged in numerous war crimes that Dooku deliberately shielded them from, meaning that the Republic has very justified reasons to distrust any peace offers from them.
  • The Bully: The core of Ultron's personality. An overpowered bully with a serious God complex and pretentious goals, but a bully nonetheless. He mocks, derides and torments his enemies in ways that serve no purpose other than amuse him.
  • Character Death: He finally dies in the first chapter of Season 4, at the hands of his creator, Tony Stark.
  • Combat Tentacles: His final form has robotic tentacles coming out of his back.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: For over 2 seasons and 64 chapters (not counting the cameos he made before his official debut) Ultron was the most devastating force in the Galaxy Far Far Away, forcing all sides of the conflict into a truce until he is finally destroyed in the season 4 premiere. But even with his end, the troubles only seem to be getting started, as The Son and his True Sith faction are setting themselves as the next rising threat to the both heroes and other villains, not to mention Maul and Crimson Dawn, all of which setting the stage for Thanos.
  • The Dreaded: All Avengers are immediately terrified when they learn that Ultron is in this galaxy, even those who haven't faced him already.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Deconstructed. As a sociopath, Ultron may hold some level of esteem for some people, but not enough to truly care for them. For example, he claims to miss Wanda and Pietro, but holds no regrets over lying to them nor almost killing Pietro, and is still willing to kill the both of them when they cross his path again. Later on, after 99 is killed, he says to feel bad for his "friend's" death, but doesn't dwell on it for too long.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: A downplayed example. He expresses distaste for the fact that the Jedi are sending children to fight in the war, and is slightly disturbed when the Trandoshans talk about skinning the Padawans they kill, but he doesn't do anything to stop the Padawans getting killed.
  • Evil Is Petty: To a ridiculous degree.
    • His entire Hope Crusher schtick is a way to spite the Avengers for defeating him.
    • After nearly converting Yularen, he gives them the nickname "Whiskers", for no reason other than to demean the former admiral.
    • The throne in his hideout at Jabiim is made from minerals from all the worlds he destroyed. Even the narration lampshades how petty this is.
    • The biggest example of it has to be Kamino. First, because instead of keeping the anti matter weapons to use them against his enemies, he wastes all of it to create a monument to his glory. Then he goes out of his way to kill all life left in the planet in the most excruciating way possible for no reason whatsoever.
  • Eviler than Thou: The Sith, even at their worst, are nothing compared to him, since while the Sith want to rule over everyone, Ultron wants to kill every living thing.
  • Evil Versus Oblivion: He's the Oblivion to the Sith's evil. Ultron has no interest in ruling, merely killing every other intelligent lifeform in the galaxy.
  • Get It Over With: He grows sick of Tony's Heroic Resolve speech and hastily tells his creator to just kill him at once. Tony complies.
  • Hates Being Alone: What 99 realizes and is able to discern. Ultron's nature forces him to annihalate every living thing, and yet his descision to use Kyber crystals to corrupt living beings is ultimately his attempts of avoiding the reality that he ultimately lives in a prison of his own making.
  • Hate Sink: Big time! Any sympathy Ultron's character had prior to coming to the Galaxy has been completely stripped away by the time he makes himself known to the universe. It keeps getting worse as details about his plans are revealed. All of his actions serve no purpose other than to make the characters and the readers despise his mechanical guts.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Anakin observes that Ultron's experiments on himself have led to him gaining some form of a soul that can be attacked in a manner that couldn't be achieved if he was still "just" a machine.
  • Hope Crusher: Invoked by himself. Ultron's campaign of terror serves mainly to the purpose of driving the Galaxy into utter despair in order to help him fulfill his goals.
  • Hypocrite: Jokingly brought up when Peter Parker observes that, while Ultron accuses the Avengers of being generic, he resorts to various cliché villain lines himself.
  • Knight of Cerebus: While at first the genocidal A.I. decides to take his time and acts from the shadows, the very moment Ultron makes his grand debut in Chapter 47 by attacking not only Coruscant, but every major location important to factions of the conflict, everything goes to hell, with the villain scoring victories and forcing all sides into a corner over and over again. By the time the Citadel arc and his depraved Assimilation Plot is exposed, Ultron has officially surpassed both the Separatists and Sith as a threat not only to the Galaxy Far, Far Away, but to all life in the universe, forcing all sides to a truce.
  • Malicious Misnaming: Palpatine in particular constantly referred to Ultron as a "droid" even when fully aware that Ultron is more than that.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Ultron's complete body has six arms, all of which he can sprout lightsabers from.
  • My Death Is Just the Beginning: Right before Tony kills him, Ultron delivers one last speech stating that even after his death, the heroes' plight is just getting started and that his only regret is that he won't be able to witness their demise.
  • Mythology Gag: By the time of the final clash, Ultron has developed a new body based on Vision with Kyber crystals embedded in it, reflecting Ultron's appearance in an alternate reality ("What If... Ultron Won?")
  • No-Sell: Can easily absorb lightning attacks from Sidious and Dooku simultaneously.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: For all the valid points he brings about how wrong all sides of the conflict are, as well his so called quest for peace, Ultron's actions make clear what he really is: A sadistic and hypocritical manchild that wants to destroy life out a mysathropic hate for it and a selfish desire to not being alone anymore.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Ultron is, essentially, a robot with the ability to replicate force powers and an intelligence in the genius range. He has immeasurable hacking (or "splicing", as it may be in a galaxy far, far away) prowess, extreme durability, and is functionally immortal unless burned out of the holonet. And unlike every other villain in the Star Wars galaxy, Ultron's goal isn't the subjugation of all life, but its annihilation.
  • Pet the Dog: In his own way, Ultron compliments Ahsoka when talking about the elitist attitude of most Jedi, affirming that she genuinely wants to help regardless of whether or not she has her powers.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Ultron's own version of this is why Tony is certain his bases will have living prisoners, as his fixation on evolution means that he wouldn't convert prisoners en masse but keep some alive for later experiments.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Any droids with red eyes have been corrupted by Ultron's programming.
  • Slasher Smile: Ultron is capable of pulling it to a frightening degree. Even in his final form, which lacks facial features, one glance at him, and the characters know he is giving them his malicious smirk.
  • Taught by Experience: Ultron recognizes that he lost the last time he attacked the Avengers because he was too impatient, and now intends to draw out his campaign as a third front in the Clone Wars.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Ultron explodes in anger once the Allied forces successfully destroy his digital matrix and purge him from their networks. Once the heroes show up at his fortress in Jabiim, he completely loses it, saying he won't even bother converting the Avengers and will simply destroy them once and for all.
  • Villain Has a Point: Ultron might be an evil prick about it, but Ahsoka has to concede that he has a valid point when he observes that most Jedi act as though they're better than the rest of the galaxy due to their powers.
  • Villainous Friendship: With the converted 99. Out of all of his lieutenants, 99 is the one he shares a deep sense of comradery with. Of course, it becomes deconstructed, since Ultron is not friends with 99, but with the version of him that got assimilated and kept all the traits that Ultron can enjoy.
  • Villainous Valor: Even after losing almost of his ships, troops and having his body nearly destroyed, Ultron refuses to go down without a fight and tries to take as many Avengers and Jedi as possible with him, but it ultimately fails.

Brock Rumlow/Crossbones

Species: Human (Earth)

Former HYDRA agent within the SHIELD counter terrorist unit, STRIKE, turned mercenary, transported to the galaxy far, far away now working with Klaue.

  • Badass Normal: Uses nothing but tech and skill to take on Jedi and Avengers.
  • From Camouflage to Criminal: Former SHIELD counter terrorist before becoming a mercenary within the underworld in the Galaxy far far away.
  • Professional Killer: Fills a niche within the criminal underworld as specialized hired muscle on par with the Avengers
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Not interested in Ultron's work, since without life, who would he sell and work with?

Ulysses Klaue

Species: Human (Earth)

An arms dealer and smuggler who has history with Wakanda, gets transported to the Galaxy far, far away and deciceds to rebuild there with Rumlow as his partner.

  • An Armand A Leg: Like in the comics, he loses one of his arms, this time thanks to Ultron.
  • Artificial Limbs: After losing his left arm during his encounter with Ultron, he replaces it by a prosthetic arm that also doubles as a sonic weapon .
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He has a taste for loud music while conducting business with criminals, and will even increase the volume if they complain. He also likes to smell samples of rare metals. He’s the only man who managed to steal vibranium from the isolationist Wakanda, and it takes him next to no time to establish himself as a black market supplier in the galaxy far far away, despite his being stranded alone, and lacking any resources.
  • Commonality Connection: He and Peter Quill quickly get along thanks to their shared love of old music.
  • Knowledge Broker: While doing business with the Sith Acolytes before the Battle of Kamino, Klaue surprises everyone with his knowledge about the planet and the Clone Army. He then says to Brock Rumlow that information is just as important to his trade as weapons, which earns him the Dark Acolyte Sora Bulq's approval and respect.
  • Nerves of Steel: Nothing really fazes him.
  • The Scrounger: In addition to being known as a supplier of blood Vibranium, he establishes himself in the Galaxy Far Far away as supplier of exotic materials, having already acquired Cortosis, Phrik, and Beskar, with plans to also expand to Kyber Crystals

Kaecilius

Species: Human (Earth)

A former student of The Ancient One who fell to the temptation of power offered by Dormammu and gathered a group of like minded zelaots.

    The Ten Rings
An international terrorist organization led by the enigmatic Mandarin. Despite the scale and scope of their activities, their motivations have remained largely a mystery, even to S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers.

In General

  • Adaptational Badass: In this story the Ten Rings includes more Elite Mooks in the organization in response to the Avengers; one of them including a sorcerer who’s at least on the level of the Masters of the Mystic Arts and another is a scientist who granted himself Hulk-like strength.

Xu Wenwu/The Mandarin

Species: Human (Earth)

Immortal leader of the terrorist/criminal organization The Ten Rings, father to Shang-Chi and Xialing.

  • Abusive Parents: As in canon he wasn't to begin with until the death of his wife drove him back to his old ways.
  • Berserk Button: Loses his cool the moment Tony refers to him as "the Mandarin", considering that "a stain on [his] legacy". After Shang-Chi points out that he did use to go by the title at some point in the past, he starts to accept it as just one of his many names.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: In this story, he narrowly avoids his MCU fate thanks to the Great Protector’s timely attack on the Dweller while his soul was still in the process of being sucked out. However, this also makes the Dweller drop him while being high in the air, and the combination of his soul nearly being devoured, and the horror and heart-break of realizing he will never be able to save his wife, keeps him from trying to break his fall, which does ultimately kill him.
  • Due to the Dead: His children light a lantern to him after the battle with the Dweller-in-Darkness, expressing hope that he has been reunited with their mother.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: He's a dangerous hand-to-hand fighter even without the Rings, but he's a truly devastating warrior with them.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After he frees the Dweller-In-Darkness and realises everyone, including his children, were correct that it was using him.
  • Really 700 Years Old: As in canon, he has already lived over a millennium thanks to the power of the Ten Rings.
  • Villain Respect: While he’s initially annoyed at Iron Man’s interference and calling him the Mandarin, he begins to enjoy fighting the Avenger; seeing him as one of the most challenging enemies he’s ever battled.

Deathdealer

Species: Human (Earth)

A high-ranking warrior of the Ten Rings and a former mentor of Shang-Chi and Xialing.

  • Arrow Catch: Manages to catch one of Hawkeye’s before it hit Wenwu.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: He may be a martial arts master but Iron Fist is too with the added bonus of superpowers. This results in Deathdealer getting thrown into a wall and out of the battle until the Soul Eaters escape.
  • Evil Mentor: In this story he trained Xialing as well as Shang-Chi, after the latter ran away.
  • Killed Off for Real: The First Ten Rings member killed by the Soul Eaters.

Crusher

Species: Human (Earth)

One of the Ten Ring’s most notable assassins.

Razorfist

Species: Human (Earth)

A very big Romanian assassin working for the Ten Rings.

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/modred_the_mystic.jpg
Modred the Mystic

A former member of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, now affiliated with the Ten Rings in a quest for greater power.

  • Bystander Syndrome: He seems to hold the Masters of Kamar-taj in contempt for their lack of involvement in the mundane world, as he expresses surprise at Dr Strange’s involvement with the Avengers.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: He’s a sorcerer at least on the level of the Kamartaj Masters, and his epithet is "The Mystic".
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: Once the Dweller-in-Darkness is released, he teleports away along with some of the Ten Rings rather than stay and fight.
    Mordred: Fuck this!

Eric Payne/Devil-Slayer

Species: Human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/devil_slayer_0.jpg
Devil-Slayer

One of the Ten Rings top enforcers, who wield a variety of magical tools.

  • Empowered Badass Normal: Like Wenwu, he appears to be an otherwise normal human who fights while using a number of mystical artifacts.
  • Summoning Artifact: He has a dagger that lets him summon the demon D’Kay.
  • Teleport Cloak: His cape allows him to disappear and reappear in shadows.

Geoffrey Crawford/Ravage

Species: Enhanced human (Earth)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ravage_8.jpg
Crawford, AKA Ravage

A former mentor to Bruce Banner, Crawford was able to steal a blood sample from Banner and use it to turn himself into a Hulk-like being.

    The Liberators
A group of some of the most dangerous individuals on Earth. They are brought together by Helmut Zemo in order to oppose the Avengers and their allies.

In General

  • Composite Character: As an antagonist team founded and led by Zemo, they draw on the mainstream comics' Masters of Evil with the name and Evil Counterpart dynamic of the Liberators from the Ultimate Universe.
  • Evil Counterpart: They are a group of villains brought together in order to match the might of the Avengers, though how evil each individual is varies from sympathetic Anti-Villains to terroristic Mad Scientist.
  • Equal-Opportunity Evil: A disgraced Sokovian nobleman, a half-American Wakandan turned-mercenary, a HYDRA Mad Scientist-turned AI, a Russian miltary man turned into a monster and so on.
  • It's Personal: What unites most of them is a grudge against one of the Avengers, the group as a whole, and/or one of their friends/allies.

Baron Helmut Zemo

Species: Human (Earth)

A Sokovian noble and ex-special forces. After losing his entire family in Ultron's attack on his country he swore to destroy the Avengers seeing them as the cause of the disaster and has begun recruiting like-minded individuals to do so.

  • Badass Normal: As in canon, he’s an otherwise normal human with special-ops training and high intelligence.
  • The Leader: Mastermind and Charismatic. The one with the plan to form the Liberators with most of the Avengers gone.
  • Properly Paranoid: After seeing the damage Ultron achieved, he’s appropriately wary of Zola, and would kill the Hydra scientist turned AI as he would super soldiers if not for the fact Zola simply doesn’t have the same capabilities as Ultron.

Erik "Killmonger" Stevens/N'Jadaka

Species: Human (Earth)

American born son of Prince N'Jobu of the Wakandan Royal family, Cousin to T'challa and Shuri. A former American black operative and a potential threat to Wakanda's status quo.

  • Badass Normal: He joins the group before he’s attained the powers of the Black Panther so he relies on his black ops training.
  • Birds of a Feather: While Zemo leaned on him to find more focused ways to get revenge, Erik meanwhile leaned on Zemo to realize both of them were affected by the Avengers.
  • Cain and Abel: Cain to T'challa and Shuri

Arnim Zola

Species: Human (Earth) turned Artificial Intelligence

The former chief scientist of the Red Skull and the man responsible for HYDRA rebuilding itself within SHIELD. Before he died, he copied his mind into an AI.

  • Brain Uploading: He was human before he copied his mind to computers to survive cancer.
  • The Smart Guy: Aside from his scientific capabilities, he serves as the main source of information gathering for the group to help aid in recruitment and strategy.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Survived the events of Captain America: The Winter Solider unlike canon.

Emil Blonsky/Abomination

Species: Enhanced human (Earth)

Born in Russia, raised in England. A former special ops soldier who was able to enhance himself with a prototype super-soldier serum and blood stolen from Bruce Banner.

  • The Atoner: Part of his motivation for joining the Liberators is actually to try to make amends with Bruce Banner for the trouble he caused him.
  • Evil Counterpart: As per usual to the Hulk, though this version is a bit less evil then most.
  • Super-Soldier: What he was intended to be.
  • Super-Strength: His transformation makes him nearly as strong as the Hulk.
  • Token Good Teammate: While most of the other Liberators have debatable justifications for their vendettas against the Avengers, his grudge isn’t actually with any of the heroes, but with the actually unsympathetic General Ross.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Basically his response when he learns that one of Ross's main motivations for his obsessive hunt for Banner and all that resulted from it, including turning him into a monster and costing him his career, was that Banner was dating the general's daughter.

Adrian Toomes/Vulture

Species: Human (Earth)

Blue collar worker and salvager turned criminal. After losing the salvage contract to Tony Stark's Damage Control, he and his coworkers turned to robbery and black market arms dealing, himself using a specialized vulture suit.

  • Never My Fault: Toomes just blames the Avengers for the fact that he 'had' to turn to crime after they claimed the Chitauri technology he was intending to salvage, rather than acknowledge the wider reasons they were trying to keep alien technology secure.
