openOdd Analysis page Videogame
This odd page: Analysis.Luigis Mansion 3 appears to have been created recently by a troper with no other edits called Koedy, and doesn't really have any actual 'analysis' beyond a single sentence that would probably fall under Fridge Brilliance if anything. Should I send it to the cutlist?
openHow can I create a new media page? Literature
I want to create a media page for a book series but I can't see anywhere any button along the lines of "create a new media page".
openUsing other websites as references for trope examples.
Or specifically, I've been recently working / adding stuff on Guacamelee! and its Shout-out page. But let's say this IGN resource page already listed a more detailed compilation of the game's pop-culture references, along with images for the in-game Guacamelee Shout-Out and the external work that is being referenced.
For compilation pages like these, would it be safe if I would just add a hyperlink on the top of the page (or on a specific trope like Shout-Out for the matter) saying something like "Click here for image examples to the pop-culture references"?
Or is it just lazy troping, and it would be better if I ensure that the Shout-Out compilation page won't require others to click a link to external sites?
Lastly, is there a specific set of rules that a troper must follow when linking to external websites other than TV Tropes?
openIs Animorphism voluntary or not?
rjd1922 removed an Animorphism wick from The Princess And The Frog saying "Animorphism must be voluntary". And indeed, that's what it says on the laconic page. But the page itself has a section for both voluntary and involuntary examples.
So, is it required for the trope to be voluntary or not?
resolved Serious Business in SCP Foundation Web Original
Yesterday, Doctor Nemesis added following as example of Serious Business.
I removed as being too generic. They add modified version today
And claims that it's no worse than the first entry.
Should it be removed again, and if so, should the first one removed as well?
Note that its entry in SeriousBusiness.Web Original has none of that. It has only one In-Universe example (there were two, but I've just removed the first one).
open Television show with portals Film
I once saw a television show (I think I could have been a Scandinavian one), where a group of kids/teens found different portals and got transported into different places. They were teleported into a very Indian kind of world in the woods with a lot of fog, where one of the children were forced to drink puke from a rabbit looking animal. They also got transported on a boat, and thee is always a man with a long black coat (I think) following them. They also found one in the shower, where one of the teens fell into it. They were also teleported into a television show. I also remember a scene, where the youngest of the fell into a lake that led to a waterfall, and then the others had to get him up. I also remember a portal on some kind of construktion site, and a scene where the kids/teens knock on a door to an old creepy house, and an old man opens, and he is very creepy. I hope you can help me. I want to know the name of the show. f fug
openAuto-Erotic Troping alert
In the Nightmare Fuel cleanup thread, Tales Of Under found out that NightmareFuel.Destroy The Godmodder is mostly edited by people who play the game in order to add examples about themselves. The other YMMV and "moments" pages for that work also have similar issues. The Auto-Erotic Troping rule says that this is a bad thing.
openSmash Bros - Unexpected Character Page Videogame
Out of desire to avoid inciting an edit war, I wanted some input on the latest entry on the Unexpected Character page for Smash Bros.
From the blurb at the top of the editing box: "This trope is called Unexpected Character, not Unlikely Character. Please hype responsibly and refrain from adding a character if you didn't seriously have the idea of them being in Smash. As a general guideline, characters who were known to be widely speculated or wanted shouldn't be added because if you're editing a wiki page for the game, then you've probably been to other communities and seen plenty of discussions about characters like Ridley, Banjo, or Steve. The nature of this trope also automatically disqualifies returning veterans."
While I question the universality of the second statement considering people have differing ideas (and personally believe "wanted" and "unexpected" are not mutually exclusive at all. Just because I really want a character to be in Smash in no way means I actually realistically expect it), let's say I am willing to play along with it.
By that logic, and those of previous editors, neither Banjo Kazooie nor the Hero from Dragon Quest should be listed as "unexpected characters." Both are "unlikely characters" for similar reasons (non-Nintendo I Ps, B-K is completely not Japanese, Hero is Square Enix which already has Cloud, etc.), but to claim that B-K was the only character people wanted, or that a majority of fans did not have the idea of a Dragon Quest representative in Smash, is simply not true. Even if the Hero primarily appeals to Japanese fans and B-K primarily to Western fans (and such a statement is a gross oversimplification that can be contested), you cannot possibly claim the Hero or Dragon Quest was "unexpected" or "came out of nowhere" compared to B-K.
By the definition of the blurb, the only thing that could remotely be considered "unexpected" are the Hero's alternate skins being past DQ protagonists, which I will concede.
Apologies for the long post and if it seemed like a rant. Just wanted absolute clarification before taking any action, if at all.
TL;DR neither Banjo-Kazooie nor DQ Hero should be considered "unexpected characters" according to blurb on Super Smash Bros.. Yes, no, maybe?

How would I trope someone calling The Undead, "ambulatory corpses"?
Say Our Zombies Are Different mixed with Not Using the "Z" Word, because Zombie is basically always implied, so The Undead is redundant?

Literature. The Last Guardian can refer to multiple works... Disambig how?
It currently goes to Literature.Stones Of Power.
I made Literature. The Last Guardian 1989 for Literature.Stones Of Power...
Literature. The Last Guardian 2001 was already made...
We also have Literature.Warcraft The Last Guardian.
Then there's Literature.Artemis Fowl's...
There's Main. The Last Guardian, which is already a disambig, between the Warcraft novel and the Video Game.
Make Literature a disambig and note Literature in Main?
Or have Main disambig everything, and Literature redirects to Main?
Edited by MaladyopenDonald Trump
I thought there was a Rule of Cautious Editing Judgement clean-up thread for Donald Trump references, but I can't find it.
Professorchaos56 has made post on the Arch-Enemy trope page citing Donald Trump and John McCain. Should that be removed?
Edited by Wyldchyldopen Issues re: Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) Film
1. Dolph Z has a severe hang-up about the MonsterVerse version of King Ghidorah. They keep trying to insist that he's not pure evil, despite evidence suggesting he is in both the film and its novelization. I called them out on it over PMs and their latest justification is that Ghidorah isn't listed under Complete Monster yet. (Who wants to tell them how the appeals process for Complete Monster entries works?) Given that this is not only causing a prolonged Edit War but also shows signs of Single-Issue Wonk, I'm curious to know how best to address the problem.
2. Daethalion has added two main page entries to the film's YMMV page. I've moved them both, and plan to address the user myself, but I want to leave this here just in case things aren't cleared up quickly.
Edited by MinisterOfSinisteropenAdaptational Neutrality
What trope should I use if a character — be it a hero or a villain — were turned into a neutral agent in the adaptation? The descriptions for Adaptational Heroism and Adaptational Villainy seem to assume that the new version of the character is a villain/hero, or at least closer to it, whereas character turning neutral wouldn't really make them more villainous/heroic, just more apathetic.

Edited by MaladyopenYMMV
I'm not trying to argue the policy one way or another, just trying to make sure I understand it — on the Purgatory and Limbo page, I put in a 'not to be confused with Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory' paragraph and noted that that trope is YMMV. mismithica replaced it, saying YMMV was never to be linked to for any reason. It's not very important to add it back or anything, but just so I'm clear, you can't mention that a trope is YMMV-only on another page, only on that trope's own page?
Edited by UnsungopenNo Title
Why does the Archive of Our Own index still appear on pages despite being deleted? For example, it's on Faded Blue's page.
openIndex has pornographic content listed
I've noticed that one of the index pages (Horror Visual Novels) has at least one H-game listed (Euphoria; it's definitely leaning on the porn side of Porn with Plot, and if you must really know how I know about it, it's Bile Fascination), but it's not linked as the page for it doesn't exist. Would listing it in the index be against No Lewdness, No Prudishness ("no pornographic writing"), even though there's no page for the work?
Shout-Outs Index... Reorganization needed?
It's holding entries from its subtropes, Stock Parodies, and Stock Shout-Outs.
Should those be removed?
Should we list Art Imitates Art subtropes as sub bullets of Art Imitates Art?
And apply that to other tropes?
