Continuing from here.

Is Wiki/ an appropriate namespace? It's not a Medium, it just catches The Wiki Rule entries that have own pages. I believe there's not much that separates these from Website/.

There's just about 50 pages, so moving pages from Wiki/ to Website/ wouldn't take relatively long (That's still 10000 wicks, though it's only a matter of renaming). There are points that we don't really need Wiki/ as a namespace.

(This is pretty much a pitch to see if the idea of a yes/no crowner would be supported.)

There are also concerns that same pages, like Memory Alpha don't even have tropes, or like Harvey Girls Forever Fanon and The Worldbuild Project that lack quality control, so that's something that can be cleaned-up while at it. —- I'll repost the updated list from the first page with current progress. It can probably be pinned and updated as the progress goes on. I'll continue to move wicks meanwhile.

Pages that were cut for being stubs and will need cleanup and a move to the Website/ namespace to be recreated

Pages that were cut for lacking tropability:

Where do we move TF Wiki.net? It's a pretty notable wiki and had a ton of tropes, a Funny page and many links on different pages.

I say cut the page for the Super Mario Wiki as there were hardly any tropes and two-thirds of the page were for the April Fool's Day jokes that NIWA pulled over the years.

To be fair, April Fools jokes can be plenty tropeworthy.

Yeah, but there were hardly any tropes on the wiki as one of the few was Running Gag and there were a couple more but that was it.

While it's not how the rules work for trope pages, I kinda don't like counting "technical tropes" (Some work pages have Title Tropes and Personal Appearance Tropes only) which apply to things that just happen due to RL and not used to generate content.

Super Mario Wiki to me feels it's troping RL events only and not the actual insides of the site.

And that's why I brought up to cut, because there's hardly anything about the Wiki and it's mostly about Real-Life stuff. There's also the Overshadowed by Controversy page talking about how the English Super Mario Bros. Encylopedia plagarized from the Mario Wiki.

Amonimus is correct. To clarify and ensure we're on the same page, "filigree" elements like title and personal appearance tropes do not count for the minimum required to sustain a viable work article. We also cannot count YMMV and audience reactions, to the extent they would be allowed for RL-focused content anyway.

Vresun is a fake work, so it's an easy cut. The others I'm not sure about.

it seems like a valid example, and since it's the book that's overshadowed and not the website, i don't see why the example couldn't stay, just with the wiki no longer wicked.

I moved Wiki.TV Tropes and Wiki.Wikipedia to Website.TV Tropes and Website.Wikipedia, respectively, and moved over the indexing and redirects (including namespacing the redirects).

Edit: Oh, I missed that Fighteer said Wikipedia isn't tropable... that's what I get for being away from the thread and then popping back in while tired.

Well, if people want to move it to Useful Notes, I'll leave that up to further discussion, but I don't feel like going over that right now.

Edit: I discussed the Wikipedia page with Fighteer and I cut the examples and subpages since it's not considered a tropable work, and as I mentioned in the mod chat, whether should be moved from Website/ to UsefulNotes/ can be hashed out later.

ATT thread background: [1] [2]

Sandbox.TF Wiki Dot Net needs evaluating for tropeworthiness. Just from a skim, it seems so to me, though probably needs some cleanup.

some sample examples from the page
  • Humans Through Alien Eyes: A popular style for all humanity-specific articles, such as the ones for Kissing and Humanity itself.
  • Interface Screw: Several pages have unique formatting to fit their subject matter:
    • Wheelie's page is written entirely in rhyme.
    • The page for The Lone Gunmen is written in the Courier font, to make it look like a document from The X-Files.
    • Rewind's page is formatted as a bullet point list of factoids with literary citations, except for his More than Meets the Eye incarnation ("Did you know that Rewind in the IDW Generation 1 Comics was too prominent a character to continue summarizing his story simply as trivia factoids?").
    • The text on the IDW Hasbro Wiki's page for Xamot Paoli is entirely aligned right, to be the mirror image his brother's page.
  • In the Style of:
    • Many of the articles are written in a way that homages a character's personality and/or speaking style, such as Wheelie's article being written entirely in rhyme (while being functional and informational the whole damn time), or the ones for Starscream's clones. This, along with its impressive accuracy, is a big reason as to why this site is so popular.
    • For non-character examples, the introductory paragraph about multilingual packaging is presented in three different languages that change with every refresh, and the entire page for Marvel Comics is written in the style of Stan Lee.
    • Every episode of the Transformers: Robots in Disguise anime starts off with a haiku in honor of Sky-Byte, the poetic Sharkticon from the show.
    • The opening paragraph of Monstructor's page is written in the style of H. P. Lovecraft, since the old Dreamwave More Than Meets The Eye profile books depicted him as a near-Lovecraftian horror.

These examples tell me that the wiki involves a fair bit of creative writing, as opposed to being purely descriptive like most wikis. (Though the Interface Screw example looks like it should be Painting the Medium instead)

That does seem tropeable, yeah.

Lol imagine if we determined that this wiki itself wasn't a tropeable site. Luckily even if we need to cleanup some things we fall under the "discussing creative concepts for review" clause considering that's our entire purpose.

Neglected to mention that I added the namespace moves for Wiki.TV Tropes and Wiki. This Very Wiki to both Wick Cleaning Projects and Wick Namespace Migration. I generally don't list redirects separately from the target page like that, but since "This Very Wiki" is a long-running Fan Nickname that's ingrained in TV Tropes culture I figured it would be better to change the namespace instead of changing the entire link.
