I have a lot more differences than similarities to Gandalf, but like him:

• I like hobbits and ordinary people, and think it'd be awesome for people to be allowed to live safe good "boring" lives.

• I get sarcastic at people sometimes, even/especially people I like.

• I'm not highly interested in romance but I really love my friends.

Unlike him:

• I'm not a centuries-old wise powerful angel in human disguise.

• I don't have his talent for figuring people out, politicking, and getting people where people need to be without even stepping on anyone's free will. Gandalf is the much-looked-for Good Slytherin, and I'm one of the dumber Hufflepuffs.

• Neither do I have his humility and determination. Guy's spent centuries getting hated on and thought of as an old weirdo and bad-news-bringer, without ever showing his real goodness and power unless it was needed. At some point I'd probably get fed up and desperate for attention and sympathy, but he just keeps doing the job in front of him.
