A Game of Gods Season 3: Renaissance

The Malone Report of 21600 confirmed the suspicions of many.

For all of known history, there have been legends of heroes and villains, men and monsters who came to this world from others. At first people theorized they were legends of beings beyond the stars, but as civilisation expanded across the final frontier, we learned we were alone in the universe.

As more incursions came to light, we realized that although we were alone in the universe, our universe wasn’t alone.

We were a playground of the gods, those with enough power to travel across the void, to punch holes in the fabric of reality. No hole was the same, though: some were ragged wounds, left carelessly open. Others were dainty incisions, sealed as soon as their creator’s business was done.

Over time, we learned to peer through these holes. Although we could not travel, we could observe. We learned much, copied some. Some worlds were primitive, some advanced, some filled with awesome technology, some powered by magic, and some a mix of all four.

Then one day, a universe turned black. Here one minute, gone the other. No threat to the universe was observed, no reason for it to suddenly stop existing. As we watch, more and more universes died.

The first, and most prevalent theory, was entropy. From what was observed, a universe’s energy did bleed through open holes in it’s fabric. Some of the disappearances conformed to all the hallmarks of a universe that simply ran out of easily accessible energy.

But some did not.

The Malone Report was a product of nearly a decade’s research. It took into account all recorded cases of a universe disappearing of our collective radar, cross-referenced all the data, and came to a conclusion.

Holes in the fabric of reality didn’t only threaten a universe with entropy. It threatened them with instability. Enough instability that a universe could simply cease to exist at any moment.

There was panic. Riots. Revolution.

But with a threat so huge, it would have been irresponsible for the Malone Report to not provide a solution.

Under seemingly random conditions, a hole could self-seal. Although it was rare, a universe could have the punctures in it’s reality sealed, and become stable once more. If a way could be found to seal the wounds, our universe would be saved.

On the 19th of October, 21606, we found our solution.

Through one of our observation posts, we spotted a figure entering another universe. Whatever means she used sealed the hole behind her. That began the years of research on this figure.

Her name is Rook. She’s a woman, or the female of whatever species she is. According to legend, a being of enormous power stole her away from her own world, and set her a series of challenges. She overcome everything thrown her way, and at the end of it all, she refused the reward offered. Over the course of her trials, she had grown to love the lonely god, and the god her.

The god gave her technology out of the enormous cache they had accumulated, and let her wander the multiverse. And although it is supposed to be impossible to find the home of the god, Rook would always know the way.

This woman has the power to seal the holes in our reality. But we’re on a race against time. Our universe grows more unstable by the day. Through observation of Rook, we’ve developed a way of temporarily reopening the holes she makes as she passes. But it can only be done once. Any team we sent would be on a suicide mission, never to return home.

Because even if they found Rook, even if she sealed the holes for us from the other side, our universe has grown so unstable that we can only afford one more hole, however temporary, before the next one destroys us completely.

But there are more universes out there. Through our observation, we have discovered people of great powers and abilities. Although their universes are unstable, they’re more stable than ours. If we can open Rook’s holes to those universes at the right times, we can gather a team. A team to hunt Rook down.

The problem is, once we’ve reopened those holes, we can’t do it a second time. They have to find Rook or never return home.

We here at the Center for Universal Survival took a vote. Unanimously, we decided this plan was completely unethical.

Unanimously, we decided there was no other way.

Hello, and welcome to A Game of Gods: Renaissance, a third-generation AGOG game. Despite my long-winded spiel up there, the premise is simple: a dying civilization has dragged your characters together to hunt down a woman named Rook, who holds the key to saving their universe.

The catch? Our heroes (or villains, or neutrals) have been chosen because their universes are unstable too. And if their universes collapse, they too will cease to exist.

But what does “unstable” really mean? What it means is that the universe is changed, liable to outside forces. Effectively, a “stable” universe is a canon universe.

And thus, to be played in this game, any character must be an Alternate Universe version of a canon character.

What counts as an alternate universe version of a character? Any change to the canon. Perhaps they were born the opposite gender, and this affected how society viewed them. Perhaps their lineage was different, and thus they were born with different abilities. Perhaps the entirety of their society has changed.

Or maybe, just maybe, the big change is that they’ve been a part of the game of gods before.

What we want from our players is creativity. Think long and hard about the change you’re making to the character. How does it affect their story? Do they even go on the journey they do in canon? Does the change affect their status in society? Would different treatment as a result of this change affect their personality? Would the change hamper or help the development of their abilities?

Please also remember that if you giveth, you should also taketh away. A Spider-Man who kept the power-enhancing black suit would have major changes to his personality, and infact may be more monstrous than the one we know and love.

We’re asking you to take the dominoes canon sets up, and knock them down in a new and strange way. Maybe even keep them standing.

With the help of a Handler feeding information into their ears, and a mobile base of operations/portal generator, our Alternates will track down Rook and save their own lives, as well as those of billions of innocent people.

And if that’s not enough motivation, legend has it that Rook knows the way to a cache of godlike technology. Technology that their Handler is all too willing to give as payment.

Despite this being a sequel to two previous sets of games, you don’t have to be an AGOG Veteran to join in on the fun, and inexperienced players are completely welcome. The plot connection between this game and previous games is extremely loose.

So, your mission, if you choose to accept it…

Signup Rules:

Characters must be A Us of canon characters. These A Us may be created by you, inspired by other people’s takes on the character, be a “canon” AU (for example, House of M, Marvel 1602, Flashpoint, or that one universe where everyone is evil and Spock has a goatee), or simply be a character who has been in an AGOG game before and remembers the experience.

One character per player. Any more than that will be taken on case-by-case basis, but if we believe that you’re able to handle it, we’ll allow it. Try and stick with two maximum to start with, though, even if we believe you could handle three or four.

Duos are allowed, but we’ll taking it on a case-by-case basis. In the past, “duo” has meant characters such as Jak and Daxter, where only one is combat-effective and the other just serves as someone to bounce off of, personality-wise. If you feel like your character’s personality works best when they have their constant partner around, but both are combat-capable (for example, Grif and Simmons from Red Vs Blue work best as a double act), send the pair at us and we’ll discuss it.

We’d also like to keep powerlevels at a reasonable standard, but anything can be nerfed. Even if you think your character is too powerful, send them our way and we’ll discuss it. Rule of thumb, though: if your character can cause or fix natural disasters single-handedly in a short length of time, expect some nerfs.

Gameplay Rules:

No real specific rules, but keep to general R Ping etiquette. No ghosting (simply ignoring any attacks sent your character’s way); no autohitting (whether your character’s attack lands is up to the other player, not you); no taking control of other people’s characters, etc. Of course, this being etiquette and not laws, you can make breaches if they’re discussed with the other player beforehand.

The only real rule is that GM rulings are final, and must be obeyed, though if you have objections these rulings can be politely discussed.

And of course, please obey all Forum Rules, especially those relating specifically to the RP Forums.
Once you’re done here, head on over to the Discussion Thread (Don’t try and read it all, we prefer our players alive) and the actual game thread.

Your G Ms (Makaioh, Meanken, wikkit and Katarsus) hope you enjoy your time playing in A Game of Gods: Renaissance.

Well, I found something I was happier with, have at it Gm's

  • Name: Jenny Wakeman/Biomechanical Emergency Response Unit XJ-9
  • Age: Chronologically 7, mentally and physically 17
  • Appearance: Jenny is a nearly 6 ft tall young lady, sporty and lean of build. She has a round face, with big blue eyes and boyish features. Her skin is of an almost unnatural white. Her bright blue hair reaches past her shoulders is often done up in a ponytail, or pigtails if she's feeling cute or nostalgic.
  • Universe: My Life as a Teenage Robot AU
  • Personality: Jenny is somewhat like your average energetic teenager, eager to make her mark in the world. At the same time she wishes for freedom she desires a place to belong to. That desire to belong is notable since she isn't exactly human, nor wants to be, she just likes to have a place where she belongs and is appreciated. Like any teenager she likes to have her time to have fun and pursue her hobbies like listening to music, playing sports, skating, hanging out with her friends. While she feels annoyed when her duties as a hero or having to tend to chores under cut said activities but she understands at some level that at the end of the day it is her duties and she does take genuine pleasure in helping people. However that doesn't mean she'd rather use her powers to go for a good long run or to parcour through the city than beat up a monster or drive away an invading alien. Like any child she's still wide eyed, and trusting, yet less naive than when she started living in society. Despite being kind hearted and regularly sweet she's just as capable of being mischievous, emotional, mean, and careless, she's still flawed after all.
  • Backstory: Jenny's story begins with her parent's/creator's Nora Wakeman. Nora was part of a world wide emergency response team named the Skyway Patrol which protected earth against external threats and dealt with disasters and/or villains within earth. She was also the head of a project to create a super-being capable to end wars and function as an extension of the Patrol's will. It was named Peacekeeper, and was deployed as a last recourse to end an invasion from an alien empire. He worked, almost too well as once the aliens were fended of and their weapons destroyed Peacemaker kept on going, turning on to his creators. The Patrol managed to incapacitate and capture him after a long hard fight. Afterwards Miss. Wakeman left the Sky Patrol, heading to the sleepy town of Tremorton.
From there she began to create the XJ line as prototypes to finally create what Peacekeeper was supposed to be, a crime-fighting individual, but this time one with a human heart and a human conscience. So the experiments continued and finally she had done it, the last process taking 5 years, but XJ-9 was created. From that point on she served as protector of Tremorton and the world, fighting villains, monsters and invading aliens growing as a person as she did. She was even able to go into outer space and liberate the world of her most recurring foes; the insect-like Cluster, from their tyrannical rule.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • Jenny merely looks like a regular if odd coloured girl, but internally she's different, after all she was created artificially to be much more powerful and resilient than the regular human. As such she's been endowed with super-strength, enhanced speed that flows from said strength, endurance that lets her function without eating or sleeping for days, an overclocked reaction time, and an agility that gives her a sense of balance and coordination that lets her use these super human powers correctly. All these have a consistent roof of 10 tons in strength and 40 km/h in land speed. Also due to the sturdy and dense construction of her body its fair to say she's rather resilient. Her senses are enhanced too, perhaps not to ridiculous amount but she's more perceptive than the regular person, especially in sight and hearing. Even in the event she'd be hurt she possesses a healing factor that will cure minor to large wounds over time, thin out toxins in her system, and ward her from common illness. She also has a natural reflex to acidic burns, as her body will secrete a counteractive slime from her skin, something she finds unpleasant but useful. Having all this power does take a toll, particularly eating, after all maintaining a powerful body requires a large load of food, and even for her going days without sleep will result in longer than average slumbers afterwards.
    • She has received training in how to manage her prodigious gifts, first basic close quarters combat with her mother, but later martial arts and other disciplines allowed her more mobility and more efficient use of her strength while in combat. She's also has taken marksmanship lessons from Sky Patrol officers, learning how to use most of their weaponry if need be and a decent aim along with it. Extensive weapons training broadened her versatility in the field even further.
    • Her regular equipment while on the field includes her communicator watch, that allows communication with her mother but could be modified to keep tabs on her teammates and her suit. Her suit consists of a blue singlet that merges a tank top and a pair of biker shorts, a pair of gloves and a pair of knee high boots, all of which are tear slash and fire resistant. Over these can be overlayed an armoured chest-piece, leg plating, a helmet, some greaves and some gauntlets in case she needs some additional protection. Talking about protection, the aforementioned weapon training meant a way to use it, as such she has accrued a large eclectic arsenal over the years, and while she'd likely just deploy with one or two and have her mother drop more via drones if need be that will not be an option, so she'll need to carry some with her, along with the armour. Said weapons are:
      • Rocket Hammer: Less of a hammer and more of the hardy but dangerous fusion between a high powered rocket and a large metal brick that has a long, pole-like handle, built to be heavy enough to take advantage of her strength, and resilient enough to be used. The thruster can be used to enhance the hammer's destructive power and Jenny's mobility.
      • Blacksword of Demon's head: a gift the new ruling queen of Cluster Prime gave to our heroine. It is a simply designed longsword with a long thin blade, a crossguard, a double handed hilt and a spherical pommel. The whole sword seems to be made of this incredibly durable black glossy material, like a sort of porcelain.
      • Light Spear: An Alien artefact fitted to a long shaft and connected to a power supply and a set of controllers, it is able to project solid light constructs of a limited size, turning it into a rather versatile weapon capable of switching from a sycthe to a spear or a voulge in matter of seconds
      • Little Busters: A pair of large red mechanical fists that fit over her own, aside from enhancing her own striking power they bear each an antigravity device, allowing Jenny to hover and even limited flight.
      • Laser Rifle: A version of the Skyway Patrol Energy Rifle Mark 3 fitted with a durable case and a scope for Jenny's use. Although its shape and size makes it unwieldy in close quarters its range and power more than makes up for them.
      • Ice Gun: The Sky Patrol's Portable Cryogenic Projector is simply put a miniature version of their main weapon, the ship-mounted Ice Cannon. This pistol projects a jet of ultracold cryogenic fluid at a short to medium range, freezing and expanding upon contact.
drum that contains the belt fed into it..
  • All of these, along with the armour, spare uniforms and ammo for her weapons are all contained in a large wardrobe like metal trunk that floats due to internal antigravity devices tor ease of transportation. Last but not least she has a couple of bottles of the "Be-Normal" Tonic, developed for occasions Jenny desires to blend in more with humanity or situations that might require her to look more human. Upon ingestion Jenny's appearance would begin to change over the following minutes; Her hair would turn a coppery red, her skin would become pink toned and freckled, her eyes would become a grayish blue, and her build would become shorter, softer and more curvaceous. However by a quirk of the tonic's formula cause her powers to be suppressed down to an average if fit human instead of a demigod.
  • Differences From Canon:
    • This version of Jenny is a bioengineered creature instead of a robot, similarly the Cluster are insect-like biological aliens instead of mechanical ones and most robotic things in the original universe are more biomechanical and bio punk.
    • She's a tad older, and a little bit more mature.
    • She and Sheldon became a couple.
    • She's come more into her own as a global hero, has a better relationship with the Skyway Patrol and overall her universe is more comic book-like, in the vein of Marvel.

  • Name: Jeyrr Stenn
  • Age: Most likely in his 20's.
  • Appearance: ...you compensating for something there buddy?
  • Universe: Final Fantasy XIV
  • Personality:
    • Haunted is the first word that comes to mind when one first meets Jeyrr. He speaks little and frowns a lot, restlessly pacing from shadow to shadow as though driven by some unseen force. Most of the time he's just lost in his own thoughts, but he becomes as focused as a laser when action is called for.
    • Though on the surface he seems heroic, leaping into action to save innocents from danger without hesitation, he's also the first to criticise said innocents for getting themselves into danger. And if innocents aren't in danger, don't expect him to go kill something weak without offering compensation. Something strong, on the other hand...
  • Backstory:
    • From the moment he arrived in Ul'Dah from an unknown home, Jeyrr rose from strength to strength, and from the talk of the town to a living legend known across the continent. Under the protection of a mysterious and rare power known as the Echo, Jeyrr defeated numerous Primals called forth by Eorzea's beast tribes, prevented an invasion by The Empire... and then it all went to the seventh hell.
    • After being framed for the death of Sultana Nanamo Ul Namo, most of his companions dying to secure his escape, and finding political asylum in Ishgard, he came across the dead body of a "Dark Knight" that had just lost a Trial by Combat under deeply unfair conditions. Upon taking up the dead man's Soul Crystal, he discovered that his recent experiences had left him with a lot of built up resentment, which could be weaponized by this new combat style he had stumbled across.
    • Upon returning to Ishgard after a training session to coax out the secrets of the Soul Crystal, he discovered that in his absence his remaining companions had been accused, tried and executed for heresy. With his last ties to his former life gone, and the Blessing of Light sundered, he gave up on heroics and just... left.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • Job Crystal - Soul of the Dark Knight: A Job Crystal, or Soul Crystal, contains the collective knowledge of those who bore it before, allowing their wisdom to be passed down. The Dark Knights of Ishgard defend the weak and downtrodden from the corrupt among the high houses and the church, painting their armour black and casting away their heraldic shields to signify that they belong to no lord. The lack of a shield allows them to use a two-handed greatsword, which is backed up by Black Magic.

As you probably guessed from that description, this is a tank class. For those not versed in MMO jargon, this means that Jeyrr focuses on grabbing the enemy's attention and keeping it, weathering all of their attacks on the group's behalf so everyone else can focus on attacking. Not that he's unable to put out the hurt himself if need be. Since the classic FF Dark Knight Cast from Hit Points style wouldn't be very beneficial for a tank, this version of the job instead focuses on MP management, blowing most of it at once on big attacks then slowly building it back up, while trying to avoid running out completely.

I'll carry over Lemurian's ruling from Terminus that a skill that requires a minute or more before reuse translates to "once per fight, unless the fight really starts to drag on". I'll note the ones to which that ruling applies. I'd also like to say that actual descriptions for these skills are quite sparse, so some of this is creative license, which I was trying to avoid earlier.
    • These things are at the top of the list because certain other skills depend on them.
      • Darkside: Jeyrr calls upon the power of his inner darkness, wreathing himself and his weapon in black flames. He will attempt to have this active at all times in combat. It's a constant drain on his mana, and if he runs out of mana it will fizzle out, but it increases the power of all his attacks and, and any abilities he has with names that start with the word "Dark" require Darkside to be active.
      • Grit: A defensive stance in which Jeyrr fights more carefully and is constantly braced to take damage. His more carefully placed blows are more accurate, and more calculated to make himself the biggest target (they're bigger, flashier, more painful, etc.), but they're quite a bit weaker for it.
      • Dark Arts: This is a Dark power, and so can only be used while Darkside is active. Jeyrr channels that darkness, consuming a lot of mana to increase the power of one of his other techniques. All abilities that can be so empowered are noted, where you can more or less replace the term "Dark Arts" with "a lot of mana".
    • In addition to general swordplay, Jeyrr can use three combos with special effects. Each one takes about 5 seconds to perform, but are adaptable enough to work around enemy counterattcks and still work as long as he is able to finish them (enemy doesn't flee or become invulnerable, Jeyrr isn't rendered unable to attack by some means). The three combos are of roughly equal power, so the differing factor is their effects.
      • Power Slash Combo: Big, flashy, painful. This combo is designed to make the recipient hate and/or fear Jeyrr and focus on attacking him. Dark Arts can be used to amplify the attention grabbing aspect, but it doesn't make the blows any more powerful.
      • Souleater Combo: Jeyrr drains the target's energy through his sword, restoring his mana. If used while in Grit, it also restores his health. Using Dark Arts will increase the power of this move to make it one of his strongest attacks, as well as draining even more energy and thus healing him more.
      • Delirium Combo: A variation on Souleater that still restores a little mana but will send a disruptive burst into the target, reducing their magical power. Unlike the other combos, Dark Arts doesn't do anything with this one.
    • His other physical attacks also require close range (except Plunge) and a sword to use, but don't need as much time to execute as a combo.
      • Plunge: Jeyrr jumps towards an enemy and hits them with his sword. The ability is used as a gap-closer, quickly bringing him into melee range to begin combos. Has a maximum range of 15 yards.
      • Scourge: The target is poisoned with darkness, hurting him from the inside. If it's not healed it does a lot of damage.
      • Low Blow: A... kick... that can be used even mid-combo if the opportunity presents itself (parrying an attack with his sword, for example, might create an opening). This stuns the target for a second or two, interrupting anything they were in the middle of doing (like casting a spell, operating heavy machinery or monologuing).
      • Reprisal: Requires the opening created by parrying an attack. Jeyrr will take one hand off his sword for a split second to touch his opponent, placing a curse on them which takes the fire out of their spirit, reducing the power of their attacks.
      • Carve and Spit: A weird skill because it can do one of two things. It can either land a weak blow that restores some of Jeyrr's mana, or it can use Dark Arts to perform the strongest single blow Jeyrr is capable of landing. Normally used for the latter, the former is there as a way to quickly recover mana in an emergency. Can only be used once per fight.
      • Mercy Stroke: An execution move meant to finish off a wounded enemy. If it does act as the finishing blow, Jeyrr is healed from the rush of released life force. Can only be used once per fight.
    • Jeyrr knows three spells, which are all meant to draw attention to himself. They're not very powerful, but they're painful and intimidating. Jeyrr uses them as opening moves to announce his presence, and rarely bothers with them once the fight has properly started.
      • Unmend: A bolt of dark energy that can be shot up to 15 yards away.
      • Abyssal Drain: A slightly stronger variant of Unmend that explodes on impact. Can be combined with Dark Arts to drain life energy from anything hit with it.
      • Unleash: Fires dark flames in every direction, hitting everything within 2.5 yards of Jeyrr.
    • His spell-like abilities have a little more utility to them.
      • Salted Earth summons a circle of shadows on the ground with a 5-yard diameter. Anything other then Jeyrr and his allies will be hurt if they stand in it. Ingame it's just used for damage since enemies aren't smart enough to move out of it. Here it'll be more useful for area denial.
      • Dark Passenger, as a Dark power, can only be used under Darkside. It flings orbs of darkness forward to hit everything in front of Jeyrr as far as 5 yards away. Dark Arts makes this very powerful and also adds a blinding effect, although this could end up working against Jeyrr because Blood Price (see under powerups) is one of his major ways of recovering mana.
      • Sole Survivor curses an enemy, tying their fate to Jeyrr's sword. When he or an ally of his claims their life, some of their lifeforce is forfeit to Jeyrr, which both heals him a bit and restores some mana. However the curse wears off after about 20 seconds, so Jeyrr only uses this on something that's going to die soon anyway. Can only be used once per fight.
      • Provoke. Jeyrr has many techniques meant to grab an enemy's attention, but they can all be overcome by force of will or a great enough hatred for something else. Not this one; the target is compelled to behold the Dark Knight in all his terrible glory. Of course, once they have beheld him they could well just go right back to whatever they were doing, but Jeyrr will usually follow up with something big, flashy and painful to discourage that. The purpose of this ability is to grab someone else's opponent for himself, which in this game is probably going to be used to rescue a teammate that's about to lose their fight, or just give them an opening to finish it.
    • And finally you have the powerups, which affect Jeyrr himself rather than a target. The first two are his primary means of recovering mana alongside his Souleater and Delirium combos. All the others on this list fall under the "once per fight" rule.
      • Blood Price: His pain only makes his darkness stronger. After initiating this skill he will begin to recover a small amount of mana every time he is hit with an attack. Parrying an attack with his sword counts as a hit. The effect lasts 15 seconds, but it might be more practical to have this as a constant effect, though I'm worried about potentially breaking things.
      • Blood Weapon: He feeds his darkness with aggression. Since Jeyrr is holding back while in the Grit stance, he can't use this aggressive style while in it. Once the skill is initiated his attacks become faster, allowing him to complete combos in less time, and every successful hit will restore a small amount of mana. Again, it might be more practical for RP purposes if this is simply passively active when Jeyrr's not using Grit if that doesn't sound too broken.
      • Bloodbath: Eeeeh. Got no flowery description for this one because I can't imagine how it works. It just heals him every time he lands a blow for 15 seconds.
      • Shadowskin: Covers himself in a dark veil which acts as an additional layer of armour for a while before fading. A good general purpose defensive ability, often used at the start of a fight when the enemy is still at their strongest.
      • Shadow Wall: Summons a powerful, but short lived, dark force field. More of an emergency skill to use if he's in trouble or believes that he soon will be (a big telegraphed attack, for example).
      • Dark Dance: Another Dark power, and so can only be used with Darkside. This technique uses the darkness to heighten Jeyrr's awareness for a while, allowing him to foresee attacks coming in time to parry them more effectively (thus creating opportunities for Low Blow and Reprisal). This can be combined with Dark Arts, which makes it border on Combat Precognition, allowing Jeyrr to avoid attacks altogether (including magic, which can't be parried), although doing so doesn't mesh well with Blood Price, and for some reason dodging an attack doesn't create the same kind of opening that parrying does.
      • Foresight: Despite the name, this technique simply involves tensing up his muscles in preparation for a blow. Naturally, this'll only guard him from physical blows, and he can't keep it up for very long.
      • Dark Mind: Dark power, Darkside, etc. Jeyrr brings a brief calm to his mind with the darkness, increasing his resistance to magic. If Dark Arts is applied, he becomes practically zen, making him shrug off lesser spells altogether. It doesn't last long, so Jeyrr uses this similarly to Shadow Wall to guard himself from a big magic attack that he knows is coming.
      • Convalescence: A leftover from Jeyrr's time as a Paladin. It readies his body to accept healing magicks, increasing their effectiveness. This only effects healing spells cast by someone else on him, and not any of his self-healing abilities.
      • Living Dead: A powerful, desperate technique used in the face of certain death to delay the inevitable and go out in a blaze of glory. If he braces himself properly, Jeyrr can survive a normally fatal blow. Immediate, serious healing might save his life, but most likely he will use his ~10 seconds of borrowed time to, well, go out in a blaze of glory. A powerful enough attack can bypass this and just kill him.
    • Dark Knight Limit Break - Dark Force: Limit Breaks work differently from regular abilities, using the combined power of a group built up over time. It'll take Jeyrr a while to bond with his companions enough to draw upon their excess strength, and even then a battle must have been raging on for quite some time before the necessary energy is available. But, when I believe the conditions have been met, and with the permission of the challenge GM, Jeyrr will be able to flood the battlefield with darkness which will form protective barriers around himself and his teammates. These barriers are extremely powerful, and it takes a lot to overcome them, but they'll fade away quite quickly. This ability is meant as a last resort to shield everyone from incoming danger.
    • Other Combat Disciplines: This version of Jeyrr has trained as a Marauder to an extent, and extensively in Gladiator; he was actually a Paladin before he became a Dark Knight, and still has his Soul of the Paladin. I neither intend nor foresee him making use of it, but I will send the GMs another really long list of skills for Paladin if they insist. tongue He also has a little training in Conjury, since that's necessary for Paladin. He doesn't have the necessary weapons for any of these other classes, so he can't use them, but he is trained in them if he loses his primary weapon and needs a replacement (Gladiator/Paladin uses a sword and shield, Marauder uses a greataxe).
    • Disciplines of the Hand: In addition to his skill in combat, Jeyrr has also taken up various crafting trades. He's studied smithing enough to keep his weapon and armour in good condition, or even forge new ones if they become unusable. He's likewise practiced at working with wood and leather, and is a surprisingly good cook (or perhaps not so surprisingly, since he hunts and gathers most of his own food these days). He has studied clothwork, jeweling and alchemy in the past, but never took them very far; he can stitch up ripped clothes and mix up a basic healing potion and little more.
    • Other Stuff:
      • The Echo: A mysterious and little-understood power granted to several individuals by the goddess Hydaelyn. It's said to break down the barriers between his soul and that of others, and its most striking feature is the occasional visions of past events that Jeyrr will receive. These visions, often triggered by a strong emotion in someone near him, will show him an event from their past that is relevant to current events. He can't control when he gets them, and enters a reverie until the vision is over during which he is completely helpless. The Echo also makes him immune to tempering, the process by which Primals enthral mortals into their service. This might mean that he's immune to mental tampering of all kinds, or it could simply mean that his soul has already been claimed by Hydaelyn. Finally, his particular variant of the Echo allows him to understand any spoken language by sensing the intentions behind the words. Since this is a standard for multiversal travellers anyway, this is unlikely to be particularly useful on this adventure.
      • The Blessing of Light (sundered): This, however, is unique to Jeyrr alone. Powered by six Crystals of Light fused to Jeyrr's soul, even less is known about this than the Echo, but it is believed to be the source of his heroic reserves of strength, empowering him beyond normal limits depending on the foe he faces... or rather, it did. A run in with Midgardsormr, the father of dragons, left him with the Crystals darkened and the Blessing sealed, and unlike in canon he never managed to re-light the Crystals. Maybe he'll manage to do so in the RP.
  • Differences From Canon:
    • Because he was off Being Batlala, Tataru and Alphinaud ended up getting killed by the Halonic Inquisition. Heartbroken, he left Eorzea behind to Be Batlala someplace where nobody knew who he was.
    • He's not aware that Nanamo and the rest of the Scions aren't actually dead.
    • Fray never happened; he was much more in tune with his inner darkness than the canon Warrior of Light ever was, and is pretty much self taught in the dark arts.
    • Since he never met Sigurdu, his training as a Dark Knight is incomplete; though he got the actual techniques out of the Soul Crystal, he doesn't know what it really means to be a Dark Knight, nor does he know that he's missing this information.

  • Name: Conan Edogawa
  • Age: Appears to be about 8 years old.
  • Appearance: Conan bears the appearance of a child, only standing at about three feet in height. He has short black hair that mostly hangs down into his blue eyes, his body rather small framed. Also, due to the AU form, his body also demonstrates ball joints; those of a ball jointed doll. He wears a children's suit coat over a white shirt, with black shorts and red/white athletic shoes.
  • Universe: Detective Conan/Case Closed
  • Personality: Conan possesses the curiosity of a child, always examining everything. He tends to be calm in the worst of all situations. If given the ability to communicate through writing -as he is mute- Conan tends to be a bit sarcastic, slightly bitter, and yet very protective of anyone he considers a friend. Unfortunately with his amnesia...there isn't many people he trusts. Because he keeps himself very distant, he can be a bit hard to communicate with. Although he doesn't always feel the need to talk to people, he does carry a pen and notebook around for when he does need to.
  • Backstory:
    • One day, while on a date at an amusement park with his girlfriend Rachel, Jimmy Kudo noticed some suspicious activity and went to investigate. Stumbling across what seemed to be a drug deal, he was caught and drugged.
    • That's where things get complicated.
    • Before his body succumbed to the drug and perished, it shrank into the body of a child. As night fell and he went undiscovered for a length of time...it was soon that a witch emerged from her hiding and removed his cold body from the scene. With her magic and the aid of a scientist, Jimmy Kudo was reborn as a living ball-joint doll. However, while he retained all of his knowledge and his keen eye for details, most of his personal memories were damaged.
    • He could no longer remember his friends or family. He also couldn't talk, nor could he feel anything to the touch.
    • These damages to his speech, memory, and touch-nerves turned out to be a side effect of the trauma and magic. Feeling bad about how her magic damaged him, the witch divined that he was once a great soccer player, so she granted him special athletic shoes to enhance his feet to the strength they had been before he had returned to child size. However, before he could adapt to his new body for very long, the laboratory where he awoke was attacked. The witch who rescued him tossed his some clothes and some fake glasses, before locking him in another room with the window open. She never gave him her name, but she told him to run for his life.
    • So that was all he could do...but now he's determined to find that blond witch that saved his life someday...if she's to be found at all. He has now renamed himself as Conan Edogawa, due to his amnesia...
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment: Conan's main ability is his eye for details and his critical thinking skills. He also cannot feel physical pain. However, if his durable wooden body sustains enough damage -primarily to the head- Conan is subject to death just like anyone else. However he usually can be repaired in some cases.
    • The magic shoes the witch granted him allow him to run rather quickly and kick things quite hard.
    • His body is durable enough to be used as a throwing weapon against certain opponents. Just nothing heavily armored.
  • Differences From Canon:
    • 1: Conan is mute
    • 2: He is a ball-joint doll
    • 3: He cannot feel anything physically
    • 4: Currently amnesiac (but he might get his memories back sometime? maybe?)

  • Just a sidenote. If I have made a mistake, just let me know and I'll fix it. If something needs changed, let me know and I'll fix it. I'm pretty flexible.

Alright, Specimen 11 needs ten seconds of uninterrupted concentration time to transport herself to the beef maze, and only incurably dying people can be brought to the beef maze. As for the creation of beef, her maximum creation rate will be that of a fire hose, and will take roughly five minutes to fill a good-size room with beef.

Armani doesn't look like he has much wrong with him, but his strength I'm gonna call two tons (the average car is around that or a bit less) lift weight, and his speed is a bit high. I'll give you a choice on that one: 60mph is a sprinting speed, and thus he cannot turn at that speed and needs at least a hundred meters to slow down, or we reduce it to around 40mph.

Jenny Topside/Subject Delta, first off I'd like to know how many people she can hit with Cyclone Trap and chain loightnin' at once? What's the maximum? As for her healing abilities and durability, she cannot regrow limbs or major organs, and an RPG to the chest will put her down. I'd also like to know the range of Scout.

Jenny Wakeman/XJ-9, I'd like to know the upper limits of her strength and speed. I'd also like to know more about her durability and the strength of her armour. The weapons seem fine, though, unless they have any abilities you haven't mentioned?

As for Jeyr Steynn, I'd like you to explain every single one of those abilities in the context of how they would work in a text RP, and not how they work in the game. I have never played the game, and therefore I cannot decipher half of these abilities.

And Conan... Well, first, what material is he made from? Wood, metal, plastic? Secondly, does his dollness affect his mortality? Will he still die by decapitation, destruction of torso or head?

I envisioned wood, but forgot to write that in. And I...forgot to think about that, actually. Probably for the sake of not being overpowered, he would? I apologize, I literally forgot to ponder that. I'll go write the wood part in there.

For healing and durability, yes, that is correct. Cyclone trap is a small tornado that's about a foot and a half wide, half a foot tall, not easily visible, and it's intended to be more of a distraction than something particularly damaging - if someone steps in it they get thrown upwards about 10 feet (or sideways if the trap is on the wall, downwards if it's on the ceiling). So I'd say the maximum is one person, unless someone is practically carrying another person. Chain lightning doesn't get limited by a number of targets, rather it's limited to an area with a radius of about 10 feet - I suppose it doesn't actually "chain" in the sense that it won't go down a line of people indefinitely, rather it just hits people near wherever it impacts.

Scout has a maximum distance of like 200 feet by my guess. I should mention that when using Scout, Subject Delta can't control her own body and is instead just standing still wherever she was. If she's injured, the scout is canceled out and disappears. Also the scout is invisible, can only use two plasmids before disappearing, it can't use weapons or otherwise physically interact with things, can't open a door, and it's also still limited in that it can only go where Delta would be capable of going - it can't phase through a wall, etc.

@GCR: I meant Jenny to be a sort of highly mobile bruiser, not a speedster or anything of the sort, and considering the original could fly well beyond the speed of sound and lift hundreds of tons if the theme song is to be believed, I'm actually giving her a good downgrade, but that's ok in my book. I'm thinking she can do around 30 tons as her top strength and sprint at about 450 km/h at her top speed which are a little above 10 times the human records from freakishly strong and fast people. I also wanted to suggest in the original post that she's more hardy than she's strong, low calibre bullets bouncing off, higher calibre bullets merely breaking her skin and not much more, fire and energy weapons taking longer to burn her, knifes and other regular blades making a little more than marks and shallow cuts and her whole anatomy being especially well protected for crushing damage. If you begin escalating you'll find her coping but being much worse for wear, for example in your RPG scenario, she would take it, keep fighting mostly out of adrenaline, and then go into a deep sleep to let her body heal once she's gassed. I think she'd probably wouldn't survive if you dropped an air-strike or something comparable on the top of her head.

That's what her armour is for, situations where she's bound to take a lot of damage she isn't sure she can't tank on her own, it probably made of some sort of titanium alloy and lined with shock absorbers on the inside, it has the drawback of being heavy, thus limiting her mobility and her endurance if she has to carry it for a long while . Also, would you mind it terribly if I added a heavy machine-gun or a minigun to her arsenal?

Alrighty, with those conditions, Specimen 11/Susan Person/Xilonecho, Conan Edogawa and Jenny Topside/Subject Delta are accepted.

As for Jenny Wakeman, she's gonna need some nerfs. First off, I'd like to see her strength dropped to 10 tons or less, and her speed dropped to 40mph sustained speed. Those are around the top ends of what we're allowing here. If you'd like her to be be faster, we'd have to put limitations on her ability to maneuver and brake. As for her durability, small arms fire she can have immunity to but high calibre stuff starts punching through. Her armour will protect her from high calibre weapons, but will be pierced by anything armour-piercing. An RPG to the chest will put her in the grave, even with the armour. As for the HMG or Minigun, alright, but choose one.

Anura: Okay, yeah, that's a bit better. All healing skills cannot regrow lost limbs and major organs from scratch. All skills that affect other people's emotions (the ones that force their focus on him or effect their morale or will to fight) have a chance to be resisted, and will not work on P Cs or Major NP Cs. If he changes his job class, we get warning and a new list of powers signed up here. I also expect you to explain the effects of what he's doing as he does them in the RP instead of referring to them by name and expecting us to know. Finally, I trust you not to go overboard with Dark Dance + Dark Arts.

Once again, apologies for the double post, but here's the guy I'd like to sign up as:

  • Name: Lavernius Tucker
  • Age: Probably in his twenties, potentially in his thirties.
  • Appearance: His current armour. His usual armour. And beneath it? Well, he's probably (potentially? Possibly?) black. That's all we really know.
  • Universe: Red Vs Blue
  • Personality: Lazy, immature, sarcastic, bit of a smart aleck. Notorious flirt and pervert, despite only having slept with one woman (and let's be honest, she once fell under a frozen lake and by the time she was found, three hours later, she was both alive and pregnant. Sleeping with her is probably something you can do by accident.) By his own admission, all he ever wanted to do was shoot the shit with his friends and try to pick up chicks. Circumstances have forced him to become a loving father, a voice of reason, and a leader. He's smart, and can come up with plans, and is deeply empathetic person.
  • Backstory: Not much is known about Tucker from before he arrived at Blood Gulch. He signed up for the UNSC during the Human-Covenant war, likely because chicks dig soldiers. However, he was found to be sub-par, and handed off to Project Freelancer, a rival supersoldier program to the SPARTAN Project. Tucker was made part of the Blue Army, and convinced humanity was in a civil war against a Red Army. In reality, it was a training simulation designed to train Freelancers, expert soldiers in superpowered armour. Tucker was personally selected by Agent Florida of the Freelancers to take part in the Blood Gulch simulation, which was used as a storage facility for the Alpha AI. Through a series of comedic events, including Tucker giving birth to a Sanghelli child prophecized to lead the Sanghelli people (he named him Junior), becoming a prophecized hero to the Sanghelli people, becoming the UNSC's ambassador to Sanghelli people, and becoming something of a badass, the Blood Gulch Reds and Blues took down the corrupt Project Freelancer. While trying to return home, they crash landed on the forgotten colony of Chorus, and misplaced their usual leadership. Tucker was forced to step up to the plate, becoming a damn good leader and soldier who stopped a civil war and saved the people of Chorus on multiple occasions from the machinations of Charon Industries. Tucker is being taken from the end of Season 13, which ended with Church sacrificing himself to power a suit of armour that Tucker now wears. He just doesn't know about that yet, but he'll learn soon.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • Eyesight: Years of peering across distances that most would use binoculars for (because nobody will let him use the fucking sniper rifle) has sharpened his eyesight to incredible levels. He can see things several hundred meters away with perfect clarity. This also lends him to great marksmanship: he can't pull off supernatural feats, but hand him a sniper rifle and he'll pull off multiple consecutive headshots on moving targets.
    • M395 DMR: A single-shot designated marksman rifle.
    • Grenades: Two, standard issue.
    • The Great Weapon: A weapon of prophecy, marking Tucker as hero to the Sanghelli race. It is a plasma sword, a sword made of superheated plasma contained in a magnetic shield. Unlike other plasma swords, this sword does not have limited uses before it needs recharging, and is genetically locked to only work in Tucker's hands. It also has two fringe benefits: one, it's also a key to various caches of alien weaponry across his home galaxy. And two: it insulates his mind from the effects of alterations to the timeline, letting him remember the previous timelines.
      • Also, while most people can figure out how to swing a sword, and many may have much experience in using them (like the Master Chief), Tucker has actually been trained in it's use on the Sanghelli homeworld of Sanghellios, and is likely the only human to ever receive that honour.
    • High Pain Threshold: This is a man who's been through childbirth.
    • M374 Hephaestus Combat Armour: A new addition to Tucker's arsenal (as in, he's had it roughly fifteen minutes and he is in no way familiar with it's use or most of it's abilities), this suit is an updated version of the armour developed by Project Freelancer and modified by Agent Maine/The Meta. While his normal combat armour has no special abilities (beyond an inbuilt computer, camera, motion tracker and radio), the M374 houses all the armour abilities developed by Project Freelancer, and thanks to Church's sacrifice, has the A.I.s needed to run it. As well as the abilities listed below, it's also a suit of armour, with titanium panels all over it. However, the bodysuit below is not bulletproof, and the armour panels do not cover everything, and even then they have been pierced by bullets on multiple occasions.
      • Active Camouflage: A cloaking field that renders him invisible to the naked eye, besides a "shimmer" effect. Naturally, the cloaking effect is canceled upon attacking, being attacked, and moving faster than a walk.
      • Temporal Distortion: ''A completely broken power.' (And by broken, I mean that it is damaged beyond any repair no matter what happens, and also if it wasn't, it would be totally OP) Only included here for the sake of completeness, this module if operational would render him capable of slowing time down and traveling backwards in time. However, it will never be operational. Ever.
      • Healing Unit: A deployable piece of equipment that create green energy field that heals wounds of those within the field. The downside is that this field is stationary and cannot be used in the move. While it can heal potentially fatal damage, it cannot regrow limbs or organs, and sometimes the damage done to a person is simply too great.
      • Domed Energy Shield: An energy shield which blocks all matter from passing through it. It's usually 10ft in radius, though with great effort (requiring a hospital stay afterwards) it can be doubled in size. Unlike it's Halo equivalent, it can't be walked through, and attacks cannot be fired from within. It take two seconds to deploy, only lasts a few seconds and can just barely survive a rocket barrage. The module itself can be taken from the suit and thrown, momentarily trapping an enemy within the shield. It timed correctly, this can be used to trap an enemy with their just-fired attack.
      • Strength Boost: Despite being a normal human, the suit allows him to lift around two tons.
      • Speed Boost: The leg motors in his suit have the capability of boosting him to 80mph running speed. However, that is a straight-line speed. Braking and cornering is much harder.
      • Overshield: A personal forcefield. Unlike that of the Master Chief, he has to choose to turn it on in advance, and likely is incredibly draining on the power front. Only good for a couple bullets.
      • Enhanced Motion Tracker: While the suit already tracks motion in a five-meter radius, the Enhanced Tracker allows multiple trackers to be synced and highlights targets in the user's vision.
      • Adaptive Camouflage: Changes the armour colour. This is both mundane (the base suit is actually white and brown, he's just using this to colour it aqua/teal/turquoise) and actually useful (blending in with all the other armoured soldiers, or a chameleon effect).
      • Holographic Projection: Allows him to project a stationary but lifelike hologram of himself, disappears when shot.
      • Electromagnetic Pulse: Localized EMP. Five meter radius.
      • BioScan: Medicinal scanning technology. Useful for picking out wounds, both on friends and enemies.
      • Hardlight Shield: It's a monodirectional shield made of hard light projected from the user. It's got a faster deployment speed that the other two shields, and can be used offensively (it is a physical shield), but the downside is that it only covers the user from one direction. Throw a grenade to their side or behind them and they're fucked.
      • Grav Boots: Artificial gravity generators in the boots. Useful for zero-G environments, walking up walls and on ceilings.
      • Voice Filter: Alters the user's voice, even to the point mimicking that of others.
      • Voice Manipulator: It's audio photoshop. Can edit voice clips to the point of them becoming brand new sentences and sound completely natural.
      • Voice Amplifier: Built-in megaphone.
      • AIs: The vast majority of these abilities cannot be run off of a program. They need active artificial intelligences to run them, one for each ability. This presented difficulties for Project Freelancer, as they needed an AI for each operative, and were only assigned the resources to create one. (A.I.s in Halo and Rv B aren't programmed, they're created by mapping out a human brain's neural pathways by use of an electrical current. As this process destroys the brain, this limits AI creation to how many fresh brains are donated to the cause.) Dr. Catherine Halsey violated multiple human cloning treaties by cloning her own brain multiple times to create Cortana and her sisters, and Dr. Leonard Church followed suit, cloning his own brain to create an AI designated "Alpha". However, due to longstanding personal trauma on Dr. Church's part, upon creation Alpha created Beta, a fragmentary AI. Project Freelancer discovered that when an AI is subjected to mental and emotional trauma, it's natural reaction is to create fragmentary AI, an AI that encompasses a single aspect of the original AI's personality. Using this soon-to-be illegal process, they created a whole line of fragmentary A.I.s, the final one being Epsilon, which represented Memory. Epsilon replaced Alpha after his (and the rest of the A.I.s) deaths, and was in the suit up until fifteen minutes ago. To help power the suit, Epsilon self-fragmented, effectively resurrecting all the A.I.s beside Alpha, Beta and itself. So, TL;DR, there's seven A.I.s in the suit, each representing an aspect of Epsilon's personality, Epsilon being a reflection of Alpha, who spawned the original versions of of these seven A.I.s. They are: Epsilon-Gamma (Deceit), Epsilon-Delta (Logic), Epsilon-Eta (Fear), Epsilon-Theta (Trust), Epsilon-Iota (Happiness), Epsilon-Sigma (Creativity/Ambition), and Epsilon-Omega (Rage/Anger). They can do the usual AI things, like hacking, encryption, decryption, transmitting messages, calculations, all that great stuff. No word on if there's an Epsilon-Epsilon, but god help me if there is.
  • Differences From Canon: Red Vs Blue is a "canon" AU to the Halo canon. In the Halo Universe, the development of armour abilities ran much smoother, not requiring A.I.s to use and developing modular abilities and standalone units, if not having some of the more powerful versions. Project Freelancer never existed, neither did the simulation troopers and the resulting Charon Industries, nor does the planet of Chorus and it's New Republic and Federal Army. And Tucker and his friends are just normal UNSC Marines, who were present at both the fighting near New Mombasa during the Battle of Earth, and at the UNSC Infinity's second visit to the planet Requiem. That's not a joke, you can find them in the Crow's Nest in Halo 3, and if you find and shoot the radios in the Spartan Ops missions, they replace other people in radio transmissions (and at one point supply you with Gravity Hammers instead of rocket launchers when fighting Hunters and tanks).

This reminded me of another RP I played on here for a very short time, a few years back, and it gave me the urge to give Nega Scott another try and try to do it properly this time. So here we are.

  • Name: Scott Pilgrim/Nega Scott

  • Age: 24

  • Appearance: Look at that friendly grin. Now in colour.(The heart on his shirt is broken in two.)

  • Universe: Scott Pilgrim

  • Personality:

    • Scott, or Nega Scott, is everything that the original Scott Pilgrim hid from himself, and would eventually grow past; And then some. He's selfish, ignorant, callous and very lazy, unless it benefits him directly. He's happy to hit where it hurts, physically and emotionally, and do it all with a cruel grin; which isn't an uncommon sight on his face. He's prone to bursts of anger or sadness, which he is just as quick to get over. That said, he's still Scott, and certainly isn't the brightest around, with no understanding of sarcasm, and an at times genuinely worrying naivety. And, somewhere deep inside him, the true Scott still lingers, occasionally shining through.
    • Unknown to Scott, at some undisclosed point in the past, Gideon Graves travelled into Scott's head using Subspace and messed with his memories at the same time he infected with him something called the Glow. Created by Gideon, the Glow is described as a weapon of "emotional warfare", and manipulates the Subspace inside the minds of those it infects, causing them to become overwhelmed by their personal issues. The Glow suppresses positive emotions such as friendship and love, and simultaneously enhances negative feelings like suspicion, jealously, and self-loathing. As such, the Glow can be used to poison or destroy relationships. Nega Scott, the dark side of Scott that currently is dominant, is a side-effect of this and exists because Scott could not face the truth of himself thanks to the Glow's effects and his own fears.
    • It appears that the Glow can lie "dormant" inside the mind of an infected person after the effects of their initial exposure wear off. The effects of the Glow will eventually wear off, but the only way to get rid of it permanently is for the inflicted to actually come to terms with his or her personal issues.

  • Backstory:

    • Nega Scott's tale is fairly similar to the one of canon Scott, having dated a highschooler, met a strange girl called Ramona, who he fell for, and embarked on a quest to defeat her seven evil exes and ultimately change to become a better person and get the girl. But that last bit didn't happen here. When it came time for Scott to face his shadowy Doppelganger, instead of listening to Kim's advice and confronting the darkness he hid inside himself, Scott once again fled from it. He defeated it in combat, causing it to disappear in a burst of purple smoke. With his thoughts of Ramona blissfully locked away behind lies and false memories, Scott again tried to make out with Kim, causing her to leave in disgust. Yet, there was still a dark pit inside him, like something was missing.

    • Scott never went to the Chaos theatre. Never confronted Gideon Graves and died. And when Ramona came back to see him, Scott treated her callously, accusing her of being with Gideon the whole time. Ramona left without saying what she had planned, and Scott never saw her again. Over time, Scott once again grew depressed and lonely, once again trying to sleep with his exes, which only pushed him further away from people he knew. Growing more and more detached from everyone and everything and treating them badly, cracks began to appear. And when Wallace, one of Scott's best friends and the guy who was his voice of reason and always had his back, called Scott out on what he had become; He broke.

    • Nega Scott appeared once again, and with no reason too, Scott never fought back. Nega Scott absorbed Scott, and became the dominant personality; Even his appearance changed to the grey-skinned, red-eyed figure. Nega Scott began a crusade to take over the world, believing the problems in his life to be everyone else’s fault but his own. He started with Gideon Graves, finally confronting him, and defeating him. It would be a short time after this, that Scott is dragged into the RP.

  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:

    • Superhuman Strength & Durability: A lower version of it, but Scott is able to hit harder and take harder hits than any ordinary human could, including destroying robots with his bare fists and surviving being thrown into the side of a building and incredibly high into the air and survive both impacts. Runs off fighting games and comic logic.

    • Fighting Prowess: Scott is a highly capable melee fighter, using various fighting game techniques such as the Shoryuken and air juggles in combat. He is pretty much a fighting game character and his moves tend to run on Rule of Cool. His strikes emit bad-ass looking shockwaves and effects, as well. They don't add anything, just look awesome. Unlike his previous self, Nega Scott is also a dirty and brutal fighter, and will do anything to win.

    • Longsword Proficiency: Scott is as skilled with weapons that fall into the 'longsword' category as he is in hand-to-hand. Sadly, this means that any attempt to wield a weapon of a different proficiency will end badly for him, most likely by embarrassing himself in trying to use it.

    • Power of Heartbreak: Scott's sword he gained after his level up into Nega Scott. It is a twisted, dark version of the Power of Love. He is able to summon this sword by pulling it from his chest. The chipped blade is a darker grey, the flames are a bluish-purple and the pommel is a black jagged heart broken down the centre. Distrust +2, Callousness +3, Brutality +1, Selfishness +1.

    • Levelling Up: Scott has the ability to level up, and gain new weapons, clothing, skills and stat increases. Happens after a big milestone in Scott's life occurs, like coming to terms with himself and deciding to become a better person or giving in to his darkness and becoming the exact opposite of who he once was, or through enough EXP gain from fights. Pretty much just something that would be left up the G Ms discretion on when it would occur, if at all.

    • Video Game Logic: Scott defeating enemies, particularily 'bosses', will usually net him an amount of money and the possibility of item drops, including extra lives. Scott already has one of these, which will revive him upon death, but only once.

    • Ability: Dark Flames: A power acquired in a Level Up. Scott can now generate the same dark fire that surrounds his sword from his hands, using to boost the power of his attacks and do extra damage.

    • Skill: Dark Hadoken: A power acquired in a Level Up. By compressing the dark flames into a ball, Scott can launch this familiar projectile at fast speeds away from himself, striking a target and dealing decent damage.

  • Differences From Canon:

    • Scott never fully accepted his dark side, believing that avoiding it and fighting it was the best way. Without the true memories of who he was and what he'd done, Scott started the cycle of lies all over again. Unable to cope with it, Scott broke and Nega Scott appears. Nega Scott beats him, and absorbs him; becoming the anti-thesis to what Scott was, and all the negative traits that he chose to forget or ignore became the core of what this new Scott was.

I'll edit Conan's mortality thing in the post he has. Err once I get home from work. But I have a small question because I'm wondering if it would make any sense for -if he's not destroyed beyond repair- if him getting repaired would be an option or if he'd just count as dead?

@GCR, Lem: Still need an answer about the deadline thing. I'm having more difficulty than I thought with my alternate character idea and want to know if I'll have the time to do it right or if I should go with my backup idea.

No, there's no deadline. Unless we get completed overwhelmed with signups, to the point where the ability to continue the game becomes jeopardized, the signups will likely remain open for the majority of the game.

@GCR: Indeed, I kind of figured that. And you said you were figuring to start the game in a month or two, yes? I'd just prefer to be there from the beginning. Mid-season introductions are a bit awkward.

A month or two is definitely too long to wait. I'd be incredibly surprised if Season 3 hadn't started within the next fortnight.

I am way too indecisive with this game so I'm going to rush this before I think of something else.

  • Name: Shizuka Joestar
  • Age: 13
  • Appearance: Kickin' Shades
  • Universe: Jojos Bizzare Adventure
  • Personality: At first glance it would be easy to say that Shizuka is a little bit spoiled, because that would be pretty spot on. She is used to getting what she wants since she was mostly raised by her elderly parents' help. That isn't to say she goes out of her way to be rude or mean, but she is young and not used to dealing with difficulty. Like most kids her age, Shizuka's attention span tends to fluctuate, so she tends to not pay attention to anything that does not directly affect her. Like most other Joestars, she can be incredibly sharp and observant when she needs to be, and is pretty smart thanks to the good schooling she has been through. Despite her seemingly selfish attitude most of the time, Shizuka has a pretty solid sense of what is right and will not put up with pointless cruelty if she can do something about it.
  • Backstory: It was never a secret to Shizuka that she was adopted. After all, she looked nothing like her parents and they were well into their 70s when she was a baby. Her father, Joseph Joestar, told her that he found her when she was a baby, unable to control her Stand and all alone. He took her in with the intention of finding her mother, but never could. After his stay in the town of Morioh, Joseph officially adopted Shizuka and took her with him back to America. He got quite a bit of trouble from his wife, Suzie Q, who thought that she was a second illegitimate child, but the elderly woman soon warmed up to the baby.

  • Shizuka was raised in wealth and relative luxury. She was able to go to some of the best schools and usually got what she wanted. For a while the family situation was a bit awkward, for one she had a nephew who was almost 30 years older than her and pretty intimidating. Luckily, her older brother Josuke was a family member she always got along with. The last thing she heard about an family outside of her adoptive parents was that Jotaro's daughter had been sent to jail again...
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • Stand - Achtung Baby: Unlike most other Stands, Achtung Baby is tied to the body of its host, so it does not have a physical manifestation or form. Shizuka is able to directly use this power from herself. Achtung Baby has the power to turn things invisible. The easiest and most common use of this power is to turn Shizuka herself invisible. Having this power since infancy, Shizuka is very well adjusted to it and can effortlessly use it on herself. Along with Shizuka herself, she can turn objects or sections of objects in her vicinity invisible as well. It works in a small radius around the girl, and the invisibility can persist even after the object is outside of the activation range. One drawback to this Stand is that it can be easily affected by Shizuka's mental state. Should she become too stressed, Achtung Baby can end up inadvertently turning sections of the surrounding area invisible.
  • Durability: It is said that a Stand is built up from the fighting instinct or force of will in a person. While not a fighter, just being a Stand user can make a person incredibly driven. As such, Shizuka can force herself through pain that most kids her age would rather crumple up in a ball from. Thats not to say shes superhuman and could survive a bullet or anything, but she can tough it out through levels of pain most would call it quits at.
  • Differences From Canon: In canon, we never get to see this character again after Joeseph and Josuke save her as a baby. It is said that Joeseph adopts her, but nothing is ever done with that. I want to play how I think this character would grow up based on the kind of environment and people she would grow up around. Another slight difference would be the Joestar line being a bit more tightly knit than the canon makes it seem, with more interaction between the various branches that started with Joeseph.

Basically this is an AU where Araki didn't forget plot elements as much.

Sooo, in the middle of several days of wracking my brain trying to come up with a character, I did some mucking about with a random generator and wound up coming up with something that really spoke to me. I did make an earnest attempt to come up with something that wasn't comic books, but in the end, I just had to give this a try.

  • Name: Dick Grayson, a.k.a The Riddler
  • Age: 25
  • Appearance: Might be able to get a commissioned work. In the meantime, image the Nightwing costume in dark purple, with the insignia replaced by a stretched out question mark in lime green.
  • Universe: DC Comics
  • Personality: Light-hearted and friendly, with a swashbuckling attitude to crimefighting that tends towards cockiness. Has a great affinity for puzzles and games of strategy, and can get overly excited both when trying to unravel them, or when trying to stump an opponent. Can always be relied upon to have a tricky word game or witty retort at hand.
  • Backstory: Young Richard Grayson was born to a family of acrobats, who formed part of a travelling group of carnies. He spent most of his childhood travelling across the county as his family joined up with carnivals all over america. Rick trained early and often to be as graceful in the air as his parents, but early on, he also developed an aptitude for more intellectual fare. When not learning or training, he would often entertain himself with puzzle toys, logic conundrums, board games like chess and othello, and not to mention the many games of chance that the carnivals had to offer.
  • Then one tragic day, at the age of twelve, everything Dick knew changed forever. Not two weeks into their stay in Coast City, the outdoor trapeze array fell to pieces, seriously injuring several audience members, and putting an end to the lives of the Flying Graysons. A grieving Dick was promptly put into foster care, whereupon he was adopted by a city councilwoman named Shiera Saunders. The woman made it her personal project to groom Dick into a respectable member of society, replacing all his clothes and belongings, forcing him into an austere inner city school, and trying to persuade the boy to forget about his carny upbringing. While Dick chafed against the treatment, he learned to appreciate her intent. But he still couldn't let the matter of his parents lie.
  • He focused all his attention on the accident, analysing the scene, talking with old carny acquaintances, even breaking into the police station to find some clue on why his parents had to die, and how it could've been avoided. He wanted to find some tangible cause for the tragedy, some evil force he could focus his hatred towards, and boy, did he find it. As it turned out, the event had been sabotaged by Shiera herself, who had spent months campaigning against 'the filthy underbelly of society', which included the members of that carnival. Dick spent weeks collecting evidence to pin the crime on her, and days coming up with a way to lure her into a trap, and expose her crimes to the police. Unfortunately, it wasn't a case of "Go directly to jail" as Dick had hoped. Shiera's archeologist boyfriend had brought back a trinket which reawakened some supernatural abilities from a past life. Newly transformed, the sinister Dark Eve went on a terrible rampage, only to be stopped by Coast City's local superhero, the Weather Wizard.
  • Once all was said and done and everything calmed down, the Weather Wizard took Dick to one side, and tried to persuade Dick not to get involved with something like this again. Dick declined to make any promises. Later, the boy was adopted by a reclusive inventor named Professor Hugo Strange, who turned out to be Weather Wizard, keeping an eye on the lad. The defeat of Dark Eve had drummed up a thirst for adventure in Dick that could not be easily sated. Still, the incident taught Dick that if he was going to be facing bad guys like that, he needed to seriously up his game. In the years that followed, Dick would go on to study forensic and computer sciences, while providing Weather Wizard some 'backstage help' from time to time, and in the process picking up a few technical tricks of the trade. After finally completing his studies, Dick felt it was time to strike out on his own (with a couple of gizmos provided by the Professor, of course). These days, you'll find him making good money as a private investigator. At least, that's what it says on the door. But it's an open secret that Enigma Private Consultants is the official home base of the Riddler, Coast City's first street-level crimefighter, confounding criminals, putting grateful citizens at ease, and always keeping an eye out for whenever Dark Eve might strike next.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment: Your standard Dick Grayson comes with the full gamut of peak human capabilities: strength, speed, stamina, and not to mention acrobatic agility and flexibility. He's also skilled in hacking and decoding, and picked up some engineering prowess from the Professor. Finally, his analytical eye, charisma, acting ability and memorised array of riddles can help him to dupe most marks. His question mark cane has its uses as a bo staff, but the curling tip also features an inbuilt webcam, a sophisticated hologram projector (projecting imagery from recordings or a thumbnail drive) and an electrical blaster that can be charged up into an EMP blast (this can be a direct shot, or a pulse that effects everything in a five meter radius). His arsenal of weaponry can extend to jigsaw throwing knives, laser tripwire mines, security bypass attachments, remote controlled drones with attached weaponry or feelers,
  • Differences From Canon: Most major players of the DC Universe have been completely scrambled, which may or may not be due to a catastrophic attempt to banish the Anti-Monitor to a different universe.
  • Keystone City's greatest champion is Superman, the last son of Korugar, who faces off against the likes of the Martian Bizarro, Victor Fries aka Deathstroke, and Edward Nashton, the Black Canary.
  • Barry Allen, the Flash, is the most terrible villain Metropolis has ever known, but was constantly opposed by his deformed and backwards clone, the Cheetah, until Cheetah's untimely death at the hands of Ralph Dibny, mutated into the hideous Doomsday.
  • Gotham City is patrolled by the Scarecrow (John Stewart), Power Girl (Kara Danvers) Hawkman (Ray Palmer) the anti-heroic Green Arrow (whoever Black Manta was) and the occasional cat burglar Darkside (Slade Wilson), with a plethora of villains including, but by no means limited to, Scarecrow's arch-enemy Poisanna, Mr Freeze (Teth-Adam) immortal leader of the League of Ice, Poisanna's on-again-off-again sidekick Booster Gold (Leonard Snart) and his other ally and lover Bane (Barbara Gordon).
  • Rounding out the founding members of the Justice League are Weather Wizard, Batwoman (Helena Bertinelli), Green Lantern (Arthur Curry), and Harlequin (Selina Kyle), who united with Scarecrow and Superman to combat the dark jester god that reigned over Apokolips.
  • The list goes on, but I'll stop there.
