[up] I think it's fine to move and turn to prose. I've not seen a creator page (of any kind of media) that lists the creator's fandoms like that.

Characters.Game Grumps Team Grump probably could use some cleanup. There's fictionalized tropes they play up for things like jokes and promotional material (Arin being Ambiguously Bi in the show media but not in real life comes to mind), not to mention Dan engages in Alter-Ego Acting in Ninja Sex Party videos (which are also redirected here, inconveniently), but a lot of this is troping unintentional character traits.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

Robert Downey Jr. has a commented-out note saying Trivia tropes that apply to him should be listed there. i do believe that used to be the policy, but i think now we're not supposed to apply any tropes to them as a person at all, right? particularly with the recent mod statement that Trivia/ is blanket banned from having real life examples at all.

i saw the note when preparing to cut the examples from the page, and i still think that i should do so.

Creator Page Guidelines says it's fine to put Trivia on Creator pages, just don't make a Trivia/ subpage. If that contradicts this post, just ask there.

Something that's been in the back of my mind for a bit is the policy on ProJared's pages. Back when the controversy over the infidelity and sexual misconduct allegations surrounding him were at their peak, the wiki set up a rule to disallow discussing his personal life on those pages. At the time it was understandable, given that the controversy was a hotbed for drama importation, but four years later, I noticed that it causes problems with cross-wicking valid examples.

Namely, a short while back, a point about him on OvershadowedByControversy.Web Original was substantially rewritten to be clearer and more concise based on discussions in the Overshadowed by Controversy cleanup thread. However, when I went to YMMV.Pro Jared to cross-wick the edit, I noticed the commented-out notice there stating not to discuss anything about his personal life "as per the Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgment."

Seeing as how the OBC point was adjusted through a cleanup thread, and given the wiki's own policy about cross-wicking, should the rewrite be added to the YMMV page, or does the notice there take top priority?

Be kind.

I think you can go ahead if it was agreed with consensus. OBC is discussing the effect on careers so is not “just” about personal lives.

A little late to report this, but Tech Bro is attracting a multitude of minor tweaks to the RL entries, particularly Elon’s. I don’t think the trope should be NRLEP nor do I think particularly highly of him, but I don’t also think discussing his kids or precise Twitter management style is necessary.

The Podcast.Every Frame A Pause page has a few tropes that could be cut, but I'm not sure if they could potentially count. From what I can tell, the podcast is mostly the hosts reviewing films as themselves and not in-character, so there might be some no real life misuse. I wasn't sure where to ask about this, because I couldn't find a podcast cleanup thread and I don't think it belonged in the Web Video cleanup thread.

  • Berserk Button:
    • Blatant Lies. Its one thing to get a fact wrong, they might still criticize the point made but depending on the mistake they may just point it out and move on, but flat out lying or manipulating something to make your point seem more valid makes all of them mad.
    • Inability to discuss a work while separating the artist from it. During the episode on Zack Snyder's Justice League, they get annoyed at chat when people bring up Joss Whedon being accused of abusive behavior or bringing up Snyder's daughter committing suicide as a reason to either hate on Justice League (2017) or praise Zack Snyder's Justice League. To them, art should be able to be separated from the creator, but they also find it annoying that people would use real world events to make their points better, especially in the case of Snyder's daughter, as it is incredibly disrespectful to his family to use the death of his daughter as some form of justification for being defensive over his films.
    • Unrelated to film criticism, one button for Rags is seeing people wear a blazer with a t-shirt. He explains it's a terrible attempt at being casual and formal at the same time. It becomes a Running Gag for him to express disgust upon seeing creators the crew is currently covering wear blazers with t-shirts.

Berserk Button usually applies to minor triggers that infuriate people. The first two points don't seem to be minor issues. The last one might count, though I think Berserk Button is NRLEP.

  • Freudian Trio: Of the hosts, MauLer is the Superego, Rags is the Ego, and DishonoredWolf is the Id.

Freudian Trio doesn't say its NRLEP on the page or on any of the NRLEP subpages. Though this entry seems to be a zero-context example.

  • Political Correctness Is Evil: Varies depending on who's hosting (most exensuated whenever The Critical Drinker is a guest), but a general running theme is that modern Hollywood, especially Disney, has abandoned a majority of their originality in favor of simply pandering to liberal talking points without actually putting any thought or care into their representation. Rather than having a gay character factor in as a major player, for example, they're relegated to only having a passing line or kiss thrown in that can be easily edited out for foreign releases in less progressive countries.

Political Correctness Is Evil is NRLEP.

  • Worthy Opponent: Jim Sterling of the Jimquisition. Rags and MauLer feel that, much like H.Bomberguy, Jim's refusal to honestly engage with viewpoints they disagree with, along with what Rags and MauLer view to be underlying contempt towards gamers (who are Jim's primary audience) that permeates certain videos, can make them rather difficult to watch sometimes. That said, they've both admitted that they respect Jim for their commitment to fighting the games industry’s many shady business practices (such as loot boxes and workplace crunch).

Worthy Opponent does have a real life subpage. However, this entry feels more like "they like some of Jim's points but dislike most of their views" instead of "they show respect for Jim".

Possibly relevant to this thread -

I've started an ATT to discuss whether or not RL celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay becomes a tropeable character when hosting his Reality TV shows.

Specifically, is a Characters page character sheet permitted + can NRLEP tropes be used about him in that context. Ramsay currently has at least two Characters page profiles.

If you have a view on this topic, please comment on the ATT post.

The show had sketches, but this isn't a situation where we're troping the characters created for comedy sketches.

Apologies for this being somewhat off-topic, I can't find anywhere else to put this. On SweetDreamsFuel.Music someone recently added, in reference to miss Carly Rae "And to top it all off, Jepsen herself is incredibly attractive." Incredibly tame a statement as it is, I feel like this person added that while using only one hand.

True Capitalist is a podcast of a person called "Ghost", and I found this work page is littered with real life troping, like his ideologies and his weird interactions with trolls. This is including the ones outside of his podcast, like Twitter. It's very noticeable on examples like All Gays are Promiscuous, Dude, Not Funny!, or He-Man Woman Hater on that page, and I feel this page needs massive rework.

[up] Yeah I question if this show is even tropable in the first place, it's just a political conservative talk show. It would be like trying to trope Rush Limbaugh or Alex Jones shows. Also half the tropes are about the trolls and not the show itself, and they are troping the trolls like show characters. This is also similar to the Darksydephil and Lowtiergod pages which also got cut.

So, we have YMMV.The Diary Of A Young Girl, AKA the real life diary of Anne Frank. Some of the entries feel pretty iffy knowing that this all really happened, like Alternative Character Interpretation, which discusses real people as if they're, well... characters. There are also entries for Fair for Its Day, Values Dissonance, Values Resonance, and Older Than They Think, all of which discuss the beliefs of Anne as expressed in the diary. Is it just me that finds this to be a bit... ehhh?
