"What's up, YouTube?"
— Duncan (every episode)
A Couple of Cunts in the Countryside (stylized as A Couple of C*nts in the Countryside) is a Web Original vlog hosted by Duncan Forbes and Cameron Phillips, who, each episode, get drunk in a field and discuss a certain topic (usually with a number of tangents). Their channel can be found here.
We're a couple of cunts, we're in the countryside, we're talking about tropes:
- Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: Seen surprisingly little on the show, but mentioned at length in the episode "Alcohol."
- The Alleged Car: In one episode, Cammy says that you could make Duncan's car break down by giving it a "quite hard dick slap."
- Back for the Finale: Computer Joe and Duncan's wife, Catherine.
- Bald of Evil: Cammy's baldness is a Running Gag, and he did once pop a child's balloon For the Evulz.
- Big Eater: Cammy seems to be this."Melt cheese on anything, it makes it better."
- Butt-Monkey: Neil suffers from this somewhat."Neil... let me put it this way: he has the body of an accountant."
- Call-Back: You can watch the videos in any order, but some references may be lost on you if you don't watch them chronologically.
- The 50th episode, "A Look Back," features many call backs to previous episodes.
- Christmas Episode: Episode 4.
- And the one off special Festive Fuckery.
- Clip Show: "A Look Back" has shades of this.
- Cluster F-Bomb: If the title didn't clue you in, the guys aren't shy about their language. Especially Cammy, who gets worse the more he drinks.
- Country Matters: Right there in the name of the channel.
- Early-Installment Weirdness: Mentioned by name in the reunion episode with regards to their first episode.
- Everything's Deader with Zombies: The topic of episode #43.
- Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Discussed in the Love" episode."We're in the countryside, there's two of us, and there's no more apt description for us than cunts."
- The Faceless: Cameraman Neil, until the 50th episode.
- Grand Finale: The fiftieth episode, "A Look Back". Turned out to be a Series Fauxnale with the release of "Festive Fuckery".
- Happily Married: Duncan, as of the reunion episode.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: Cammy and Duncan seem to be this. Although...
- Hidden Depths: Cammy may act like a drunken fool and swear like a trucker, but when he's expounding on politics or religion, he reveals that he's actually very intelligent.
- Hilarious Outtakes: "Bloopers".
- Hypocritical Humour: In the bloopers episode, Duncan accuses Cammy of fucking up way more than him... shortly before a montage of all of Duncan's fuck-ups.Duncan: You'd never catch me mangling my words and fucking up like you.
- Jump Cut: Often, and frequently mentioned.
- Jump Scare: In the intro of the "Horror" episode.
- Known Only by Their Nickname: Razz.
- Meaningful Background Event: The long-haired figure in the afformentioned Jump Scare actually appeared in the three episodes previous to "Horror," in the distance at first, before getting gradually closer.
- N-Word Privileges: Discussed in "Racism."
- Once per Episode: The bottle clink, and Cammy's outro comments.
- Please Subscribe to Our Channel: Once per Episode.
- Product Placement: The guys have joked more than once that they should be paid to shill for Cracked.com.
- Running Gag:
- Photos of Martin.
- Duncan's crush on Jude Law.
- Later on, Cammy's threat of "I'll cut you twice."
- Self-Deprecation: Quite often.
- Sharp-Dressed Man: The guys wore snappy suits for their Oscars episode.
- Shout-Out:
- The intro to "David Lynch" is spoken backwards with subtitles, just like The Man From Another Place in Twin Peaks.
- The opening of "Arnold Schwarzenegger" is an homage to Predator.
- The guys do impressions of Raúl Juliá in Street Fighter in their 50th special.
- Sir Swears-a-Lot: Cammy, whose cussing gets worse and more frequent the drunker he gets.
- The Stinger: In a few episodes.
- Take That!: "Twilight" is pretty much one big Take That! to Stephenie Meyer and Twi-hards.
- Toilet Humour: There's a burping montage in the bloopers episode.
- Top Ten List: In the 50th special, the guys count down their ten favourite episodes of the series.
- Very Special Episode: The hour-long 50th special, which also served as the show's Grand Finale.
- Zombie Apocalypse: The guys discuss survival tactics for this very eventuality in "Zombies".
