  • Ascended Extra: Several Slytherin students, as well as the older Stuart brothers and their fiancés.
  • Adaptational Badass: Katarina’s birth magic (earth) is still weak, but she can perform Hogwarts magic with varying success as well.
    • The entire Ministry of Magic is this, because Nicol & Sophia’s father beat out Fudge in the most recent election for Minister of Magic.
    • After he’s revived, Voldemort experiments heavily with indirect attacks, including breaking out his imprisoned supporters by faking their deaths.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Most of the Slytherin students dislike the Death Eaters, with Pansy Parkinson joining the fight at the Ministry.
  • Ascended Extra: Katarina is in Slytherin, so most of her dorm mates get more development, as do other Slytherins like Draco and Crabbe.
  • Adaptation Name Change: Invoked, Parodied, and Deconstructed with Katarina’s fiancé. Because of of a ritual his mother did, G-boy’s name constantly changes even on written documents and in people’s minds.
  • All-Loving Hero: Katarina cares about everybody. Similarly, Maria tried to heal a possessed vampire as it was actively attacking her.
  • Animorphism: Sirius, as per canon. Tracey Davis as a bat.
  • Animal Motifs: Katarina’s patronus is a monkey, after Monkey Girl.
  • Arranged Marriage: Still common among the magical nobility, but not ironclad. Katarina is engaged to G. Stuart, Mary to Alan, etc.

  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: Katarina, who can’t believe that anyone likes her, much less that most of her friend circle is secretly attracted to her.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Katarina is bad at casting most spells, suffers all sort of amusing mishaps, and thinks with her stomach. She also killed a basilisk with a sword and survived facing Voldemort multiple times, as well as assembling a team of students who then survived a fight against Death Eaters.
  • Death by Adaptation: Young Harry Potter, the giant squid, and the Campbell parents, as well as the first Mrs. Stuart.

  • Humble Hero: Maria and Katarina don’t flash around their accomplishments.
