Fanfic / Epic Rap Battles From Pokejedservo

Go To

A series of Rap Battles from fanfic writer Pokejedservo in style of Epic Rap Battles of History. However these Rap Battles are normally text-only (though a few of them have been made into YouTube videos by deathkillers55). Although these Rap Battles are all done by various Animated (both North American and Japanese), Comic Book, Video Game and even occasional Live Action characters as well. One can find Pokejedservo's Epic Rap Battles at Deviantart and Archive of our Own.

Featured Tropes:

  • Berserk Button: Happens rather frequently such as Rachel's reaction to Marceline's cuckolding and when Andy Bogard gives Luigi a "Reason You Suck" Speech, Luigi angrily fires one right back at him.
  • Black Comedy: While this series has very little profanity that doesn't necessarily mean the rap battles are clean though as there are plenty of references to things like rape, adultery and death. One particular example is during the Ayane Vs. Satsuki Kiryuin battle which mentions the idea of both of these ladies were molested by a busty silver haired Psycho Lesbian. However while the former is merely a theory the latter is implicitly canon.
  • Boastful Rap: Plenty of this in the Rap battles of course though some of the rappers like Tina Armstrong are more focused on this than actually insulting their opponent.
  • The Bus Came Back: So far a few of the rappers have appeared in more than one Rap Battle namely Yamcha, John Bender, She Hulk and Tifa Lockhart. Both of the guys originally took on one opponent by thesmelves then in their second appearances they fought with teammates (such as Yamcha was with Bulma while Bender was with the rest of the Breakfast Club). She-Hulk and Tifa on the other hand were on teams (The Agents of S.M.A.S.H with the former and Aeris & Yuffie for the latter) then they took on their Ms. Fanservice adversaries singlehandedily in latter battles (She-Hulk & Wonder Woman and Tifa & Mai Shiranui).
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: Yamcha seems to have this mindset as a good portion of the Ms. Fanservice characters do have a Proud Beauty mindset. Also Rick Hunter gleefully implies that this is the real reason why Godai went with Kyoko over Kozue in which Godai tries to deny this... though rather halfheartedly.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Normally flat out averted as most of the Rap Battles have no swears at all. Except for certain straight examples such as in the Vice & Mature Vs. Revy and Eda battle (with most of the profanity is of course from Revy).
  • Cuckold:
    • Sometimes played straight such as when Marcie tells Rachel that she is not sure whether she wants to play with Ragna or give a nibble to that boy Carl Clover. Marcie's male counterpart Marshall Lee also does this to Lord Raptor by considering the idea of making a move on that "cute busty Jiang-shi" Hsien-Ko. Iron Man does this to Bat Man regarding Catwoman & Talia. Alucard also does this to Alucard by asking him to wrap this Rap Battle up since he'll be seeing Seras & Integra later.
    • The Marty McFly Vs. Bill & Ted battle subverts this as while Bill asks Ted whether to go to 1955 (implying to see the Hotter and Sexier teen version of Marty's mother) but while Ted is cool with the idea of going to 1955. However Ted doesn't want to do anything to bother George McFly since George is such a nice guy in which Bill agress to that.
    • Bender plays around with this as while he doesn't do this to either opponents namely Fonzie or any of the Teen Titans. But he does this to fellow Breakfast Club member Andy as Bender claims that he has Claire and a "Certain Basketcase by the Side". (In which this causes Andy & Claire to glare at him during their Rap Battle with the Teen Titans.)
  • Curse Cut Short: Happens occasionally namely by She Hulk in the Wreck-It Ralph Vs. Wrecking Crew Battle and by Zod in the Doctor Doom Vs. Zod.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Certain examples such as how Mr. Freeze points out how he is far less likely to kill than Sub-Zero. Also Castlevania's Dracula finds Demitri Maximov's quips about his relationship with the Grim Reaper to be a bit homophobic and tasteless.
  • Eviler than Thou: Often played straight in Evil vs. Evil battles but sometimes inverted as certain antagonists such as Mr. Freeze and Satsuki Kiryuin try to argue that they are less evil than their respective opponents.
  • Faux Action Girl: Though that being said some of the ladies have been accused of being this such as Lois Lane and the Nintendo Princesses.
  • Foe Yay Shipping: Very frequently implied to characters of both genders often to Dating Catwoman levels.
  • I Take Offense to That Last One: When B. Jenet considers Nami to be Nico Robin's red-haired wife. Nami's response was that she angrily told Jenet that her hair color is Orange not Red.
  • Most Common Super Power: Emma Frost and Selene, Starfire and Raven, She-Hulk and Wonder Woman.
  • Ms. Fanservice: A good portion of the ladies in this series are these in which some of them seem to have a rather Proud Beauty mindset.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Certain examples such as when Ayane accusses Satsuki of wearing a rather Stripperiffic outfit Satsuki's opening lyrics was asking why is she getting a modesty lecture from one of the stars of the Dead or Alive series.
  • Pædo Hunt: Happens rather frequently to various characters of both genders (both the victim & the perpetrator.)
  • Pet the Dog: Occasionally happens such as in the Marty McFly Vs. Bill and Ted fight as while Bill and Ted are willing to take on Marty they decide to leave Marty's dad George alone as while George maybe a nerd but he is a Nice Guy.
  • Prison Rape: Often played for Black Comedy Rape in its implications like how Lord Raptor claims that Marshall Lee would be a boy toy in prison, Mai Shiranui ponders what Scarlett really did to Tifa during their time in the Gas Chamber and that Wonder Woman told She-Hulk that she is surprised that the time She-Hulk and Titania were in prison together didn't lead to this.
  • "Reason You Suck" Speech: Happens every now & then, one prominent example is in the Andy Bogard Vs. Luigi battle in which Andy calls Luigi a pathetic cowardly weakling. While Luigi fires one right back at him as he accusses Andy of being an emotionally abusive boyfriend to Mai as he is so distant to her.
  • Ship-to-Ship Combat: A fairly frequent Discussed Trope especially when Dragon Ball and Bleach characters are involved.
  • Slut-Shaming: Happens fairly frequently particularly in the Female Vs. Female Rap Battles though this is usually called out.
  • Transparent Closet: Very frequently invoked as several characters from both genders have been accused of being this.
  • What the Hell, Hero??: Happens fairly often such as how Andy Bogard and Ichigo Kurosaki can be so emotionally distant to Mai Shiranui and Orihime respectively. And that Rachel Alucard gets called out on how maybe her efforts in fighting evil might've gone better if she didn't troll and/or confuse the heroes so much.
