    Crow
The protagonist of the game, a black-haired youth visiting his boyfriend at his house.
  • Did Not Get The Guy: In Ending 8. While the real Crow is released and finds the real Fio, he doesn't get together with him since he fell in love with one of his (now dead) iterations and the real one doesn't even know him.
  • Heroic Mime: Zigzagged. In the actual game, he doesn't speak outside of texts to Fio at the beginning, but he's rather chatty in flashbacks.
  • Loving a Shadow: Icarus accuses him (or rather, one of his iterations) of having this in Endings 7 and 8, insisting he only loved a clone and the real Fio doesn't even know him.
  • Official Couple: He and Fio have been dating for a couple months as of the beginning of the game.
  • People Jars: What happened to the real Crow, put in a tank, unconscious and cloned over and over.
  • Starving Artist: He's a talented musician, but is struggling to make ends meet with his career after his transphobic parents kicked him out.
  • Trans Tribulations: His parents kicked him out of the house for being female-to-male trans.

    Fio Jenkins
Crow's boyfriend.
  • Captain Oblivious: In three of the endings, he shows up for the confrontation between Crow and Icarus, notices the sea of corpses left below the bridge... and assumes that "Sofia" is playing a prank on him.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: While he is technically nonbinarynote , he's generally referred to as male. He has a very feminine fashion sense with lots of pink and cute imagery; a flashback later in the game explores how Crow defended him from a man harassing him on the street for being a feminine man.
  • Guinea Pig Family: The entire reason he was even born is due to Claire and Dale wanting to procure the ideal test subject. His DNA is later fused with Sofia's to create Icarus.
  • Innocent Inaccurate: In some endings, he finds the basement room where the corpses of previous iterations are kept while Icarus and Crow have a standoff. Fio then draws the conclusion it's just a very elaborate prank and that the bodies are just props, then invites them both for hot chocolate. See also Captain Oblivious above.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: As Icarus reveals in Endings 7 and 8, the real Fio didn't even know Crow, and he fell in love with one of his iterations.
  • Official Couple: He and Crow have been dating for a couple months as of the beginning of the game.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: He has bright pink hair and is a cheery Nice Guy. This is in notable contrast to his Psycho Pink mother, a cold Mad Scientist.

    Sofia Jenkins
A family member of Fio, who acts as his big sister of sorts. She was also one of the scientists working on Project Gen. She was Dale's wife, and even though he fathered Fio with another woman, Claire, Sofia would care for Fio as if he was her own son.
  • Cool Big Sis: Fio looks up to her as one, talking about how cool and nice she is to him.
  • Dead All Along: The Sofia who attacks Crow and Fio is actually an Iteration of her- the real Sofia was killed by another iteration.
  • Guinea Pig Family: She eventually becomes the subject of testing, in part by her husband Dale. Her DNA is later mixed with Fio's to create Icarus.
  • Parental Substitute: It's noted that she treated Fio much more like a son than his actual parents, Dale and Claire, ever did. While those two ignored him and used him as a test subject, Sofia would act nice to Fio and hang out with him like an actual mother.
  • Posthumous Character: The real Sofia was killed by one of her iterations prior to the plot. The masked stranger who resembles her is actually Icarus, one of her iterations.

    Dale Jenkins
Fio's father, and the scientist in charge of Project Gen and Project Icarus. A gentle, mind-mannered man, he desires to unlock the secret to immortality by creating a clone that could maintain the memories and personality of the original.
  • Asshole Victim: After experimenting on his wife Sofia and his son Fio, then mistreating and killing many of their iterations, he and Claire were ultimately killed by Icarus, an iteration they made from the DNA of Sofia and Fio, when they snapped from the abuse. Downplayed in that he was more reluctant to do so compared to Claire, but he still went through with whatever she asked of him.
  • Dead All Along: He and Clara are said by Fio to be away at some trip somewhere. Turns out they were murdered by Icarus.
  • Henpecked Husband: He did whatever Claire asked of him, no matter how depraved, with at worst grim reservation.
  • Unholy Matrimony: While never officially married, he and Claire fathered Fio together and used him as a guinea pig in their experiments in which they killed a bunch of his clones.

    Dr. Claire Carter
Fio's mother, and the head scientist appointed by Dale to work on Project Gen and Project Icarus. She is the one who expanded the scope of the project to include human test subjects. A ruthless woman dedicated to achieving the secret of immortality for scientific prestige, she bullied Dale into going along with her every desire.
  • Abusive Parents: She birthed Fio to make him a test subject in her cloning experiments and intentionally mistreated his clones as part of the experiment, doing things like demanding he call her “Doctor Carter” instead of “mom” and acting cold towards him. She could also be said to be the mother of Icarus as their creator, and basically did the same to them.
  • Asshole Victim: After experimenting on Sofia and her own son Fio, then mistreating and killing many of their iterations, she and Dale were ultimately killed by Icarus, an iteration they made from the DNA of Sofia and Fio, when they snapped from the abuse.
  • Dead All Along: She and Dale are said by Fio to be away at some trip somewhere. Turns out they were murdered by Icarus.
  • Dragon-in-Chief: She technically worked under Dale as he appointed her to be his chief scientist, but in practice, she was the one bossing him around and carrying the project wherever she wanted it to go.
  • Evil Matriarch: She birthed Fio with the sole intention of having him be her Guinea pig for her cloning experiment, presumably killed him at some point, and intentionally mistreated his clones as part of the experiment.
  • Fatal Flaw: Her perfectionism combined with her lack of empathy. She wanted to create a clone, or iteration, that had the memories and personality of the original so she could be praised in the scientific community for it. Ignoring that creating clones is a big feat in itself that would have gotten her the recognition she wanted, Claire would intentionally mistreat and abuse the iterations under the belief that this would somehow make them into the perfect iteration, and when they inevitably failed to meet her standards, she killed and disposed of them. This lack of progress is likely what led to the government cancelling all funds for the project, and definitely led to Icarus murdering her abusive creator. Had Claire been satisfied with what she did, she could have found much better success.
  • For Science!: She ran Project Gen, the creation of clones with the memory of the original, to create a perfect clone that would fully ape the original person and achieve immortality, all for the scientific prestige this would bring her.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: A woman seen in a photo who is implied to be her wears glasses as part of her scientist getup. She herself was a Mad Scientist who performed horrific cloning experiments and is heard casually ordering two clones murdered with no emotion in her voice.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: She was the effective head of the project that created Icarus, and her abuse of them turned Icarus into the Big Bad.
  • Hate Sink: She is the one who created the Big Bad Icarus, and lacks their sympathetic qualities. To achieve the secret of immortality, Claire set up Project Gen, where she and her team made hundreds of clones called iterations from the memories of the original. Claire would then kill any that came out imperfect, resulting in hundreds dead. She also showed a complete lack of empathy towards anyone, calling fellow scientist Sofia a failure upon her death, bullying Dale Jenkins into going along with whatever she wanted, and even using her own son, Fio Jenkins, as a guinea pig. Her murder by Icarus prior to the events of the story is thus well deserved.
  • Immortality Seeker: She basically ran the experiment to achieve a sort of immortality by trying to create a clone that had all the memories and personality of the original. Though she did this not so that she could personally become immortal, but for the scientific prestige that such a breakthrough would bring.
  • Kick the Dog: Claire ordering two iterations of Sofia and her own son Fio killed via shock collar merely for not turning out as perfectly as she wanted shows how cruel she is.
  • Mad Scientist: In her pursuit of immortality, she expanded her clone-creating project to include human subjects, and is seen in videos killing via electrocution any iteration that fails her experiments in any way. She even fathered a child with Dale for the sole purpose of using him as a test subject.
  • Offing the Offspring: Deeming the real Fio to be a failure, he orders Dale to kill him. As Ending 8 shows, he didn't have the heart to do it and sent him away instead.
  • The Perfectionist: In her quest to create a clone that would perfectly mimic the original in personality and maintain their memories, she frequently made iterations who failed to meet those standards- sometimes their memories would diverge, or they would forget information that the original knew, or they would lack the empathy of the original- and so killed any that failed, racking up a count of hundreds. She never was able to make a satisfactory clone before the government cut off funding and she was murdered by one of her own abused clones.
  • Psycho Pink: She is indicated to be the pink-haired woman in one picture showing her, Dale, and Sofia, judging by her text whenever she speaks being pink. She is also a cold, heartless Mad Scientist who experimented on clones to achieve immortality and killed any that were of no use to her.
  • Unholy Matrimony: While never officially married, she and Dale fathered Fio together and used him as a guinea pig in their experiments in which they killed a bunch of his clones.

    Icarus
The masked intruder who breaks into the Jenkins household and bears a heavy resemblance to Sofia. They are actually an intersex iteration created from the combination of Sofia and Fio's DNA.
  • Big Bad: They are the masked intruder out to kill Crow and Fio.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After being subjected to horrible experiments by Clara and Dale for so long, only to learn that they were giving up on the experiment due to their funding being cut off, Icarus snapped and murdered them in revenge.
  • Hermaphrodite: They were created from the DNA of the female Sofia and the male Fio, and as such are an intersex being. This is why they are referred to with singular they pronouns, as they do not really identify as male or female.
  • In the Hood: They wear a black cloak that they use along with a bunny mask to hide their true identity as a clone made with the DNA of Sofia and Fio.
  • Malevolent Masked Men: They are always seen wearing a bunny mask. It doubles as both intimidation and to hide their face, which looks like a combination of Sofia and Fio, their DNA donors.
  • Passing the Torch: Wants Crow to carry on their work, since they consider themself a failure. Depending on the ending, Crow might accept or not.
  • Patchwork Kids: Since they were made with DNA from both Sofia and Fio, they have the green hair of Sofia with light pink streaks from Fio, and they have one green eye (Sofia) and one pink eye (Fio).
  • Turned Against Their Masters: They killed Claire and Dale, the scientists who created them and the other iterations, in retaliation for being experimented on.
  • You Are What You Hate: Despite hating Claire, they are not so different from her.
    • When Icarus learned that the project was being shut down due to the government deciding to stop funding it, they snapped and killed their creators- only to continue the project in their stead, killing iterations of Fio and luring Crow into it to make iterations of them.
    • Calls out Claire for killing many of their iterations, and treating them like trash. They do the same thing, treating Crow and Fio's iterations as expendable.
    • Resents being called a failure and yet they want Crow to continue the project in their stead.

    The Iterations
Clones created by Project Gen. They hold the memories of the people they were cloned from, but were known to have diverged mentally within some time.
  • Clones Are People, Too: The iterations, despite being clones with all the memories of their original person, are said by Claire to diverge at some point at become their own beings. This rendered them useless to Claire, who only saw clones as expendable and kills them when they fail her, but this is meant to show Claire as cruel and heartless. Clones like the playable Crow and Fio iterations are perfectly capable of being kind and caring.
  • Lack of Empathy: According to Claire, the iterations lack the empathy that the original humans have. Though while ones like Icarus and the murderous Crow iteration in one end certainly fit this, others- like the playable iterations- seem to be perfectly nice people.
  • Turned Against Their Masters: Sofia was killed by one of her own iterations.
  • Walking Spoiler: Their very existence reveals the big twist that the game is not a "Groundhog Day" Loop, but that the main characters are clones who are replaced by more clones when they die.
