    Clive Winston

Clive Winston was born into unremarkable circumstances in the outskirts of London. His childhood and education were typical, and at university, a professor described him as "un'extraordinary in every way." His grades were average. But Clive soon proved he was anything but average. He formed the hard-rocking Winstons and released single after chart-topping single. The recent "Clive Alive 2005" tour was a mega-success. Clive's super-virtuosic style is a throwback to the British guitar gods of the 70s. His biographer revealed that on any given day, Clive plays guitar for at least eight hours, hitting approximately 36,000 notes, while only speaking an average of 50 words. The most sought after session player working today, Clive's name graces more CD credits than we can count. Biography in Guitar Hero, World Tour, and Metallica

Genres: Classic Rock

    The Grim Ripper

Tearing it up from the beyond, Grim is a full-on rocker. Grim has abandoned the stealing of souls for the rush of stealing the show and now tours the world laying down monster riffs. Biography in Guitar Hero

This rock star is bad to the bone. Grim's riffs are so killer, fans are lucky just to leave the show with their souls intact. At his latest killer performance, an awe-struck fan gushed, the curtains flew, then he appeared! Biography in Guitar Hero II

Dudes? It just doesn't get more gnarly than Grim. With his unholy skill and blood-curdling licks, it's no wonder 40,000 are coming to see him at every show. Grim, like, totally kills. Biography in Guitar Hero Encore: Rock The 80s

When not scouring the bowels of Hades to sign the next big act, The Grim Ripper makes earthly summer tours part of his M.O. He also enjoys canoe trips. Biography in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

    Izzy Sparks

Izzy is known for his wild hair, wilder outfits, and even wilder parties - and of course for his crankin' guitar. He says he needs to customize his guitars to accommodate his ultra fast technique. Changing bands like other people change shoes, Izzy has played for dozens of bands including Arsenic, Gold Rush, Medusa's Hair, and Gang of Two. Press and fans alike can't get enough of his bad-boy antics and monster chops. Izzy named his last album "Banned in Seven States", which was true - three states ago. Though most venues cite his unruly stage presence as reason to keep him out, Izzy claims that he gets barred because his guitar "makes girls think impure thoughts." He recently customized his amps to match his outfits. Says friend and band mate Jax Hummer, "you have to be damn good to get away with that kind of behavior. And he is. Biography in Guitar Hero

Genres: Glam Metal, Glam Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal

  • Likes Older Women: If the beginning of his biography in Legends of Rock, World Tour, and Metallica are of any indication, it's implied that he prefers ladies a few years above himself.
    "Daughters...lock up your mothers..."

    Johnny Napalm

Johnny Napalm. Guitar God. But it wasn't always that way. Before his 19th birthday he'd already had several brushes with the law and served jail time. His social workers labeled him a "lost cause" noting several times that he "doesn't play well with others." If only they could see him play now. Inspired by the punk movement of the late 70s London, Johnny found a guitar, changed his name, and grabbed his destiny. Without a single lesson, his awesome talent and raw sound have earned him guitar god status. His latest album "Hair Shirt" burns the eardrums just right. We wish we could supply you with a quote from Johnny, but he never sits still for an interview. Biography in Guitar Hero

Genres: Punk Rock

  • British Rockstar: Has a Cockney accent, likes trashing stuff, and has a mohawk.
  • Shout-Out: His encore in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is the theme from Spider-Man, and Johnny himself can climb walls and ceilings with his bare hands in his warrior form, just like Spider-Man. Ironic though, given his warrior form is closer to Nightcrawler .
  • Street Urchin: Implied to be one, given his rambunctious attitude and his Cockney roots.

    Judy Nails

Judy Nails - Rock Goddess. Born Judith Ann Taylor, she earned her nickname at the age of 7 in a nail gun incident. It was a formative experience in unconventional behavior. Her parents tried to push a variety of "acceptable" pursuits, but by 12 it was obvious Judy had only one love: ROCK N' ROLL. The alternative rock scene was her inspiration and salvation. She took her guitar, the cash from her mother's purse, and formed the Nail Gunners. Judy is known for her experiments with non-standard tunings and jaw-dropping solos. In a recent court-room appearance, Judy defended herself against charges that she struck a reporter, saying "He had asked about my hair and clothes, and not once about my music." The charges were eventually dropped. Rock on, Judy. Biography in Guitar Hero

Genres: Alternative Rock, Indie Rock, Grunge, Emo, Riot Grrrl

    Pandora

Pandora - the Dark Princess of Rock. Expelled from ballet at 8, and forcibly removed from Girl Scouts at 10, she was given a guitar as a last resort. She soon emerged as a brilliant guitarist with a strong distaste for pastel colors. While in school she formed the band Haze Machine, which showcased her stunning guitar prowess. She started a collection of stomp boxes, which now numbers in the hundreds, and includes dozens customized just for her. She markets her own - the aptly named Pandora's Box - which "unleashes a hoard of demons and pestilence" when engaged. According to Pandora she graduated from the University of Alienation - with honors. Major label interest and endorsements have propelled her talents and her current band Infection into the spotlight. And while Pandora prefers the dark, she'll take the fame. Biography in Guitar Hero

    Xavier Stone

Xavier Stone has always rocked. Identified as a musical prodigy with a genius IQ at age 5, he wrote and starred in his first full-length rock opera at 8. By 14 he had formed the internationally acclaimed Seeing Eye Frog and a world tour was right around the corner. Early exposure to the complex rhythms of Africa and the Orient influenced his style. Equally energized by hip hop, classical, jazz and rock, he can switch styles on a dime, and looks cool doing it. Xavier says he likes to rock so hard there's "nothing left of a guitar when I'm done with it." A recent reader's poll by Quantum Sound Magazine voted Xavier Stone "Most Likely to Rock."     Casey Lynch

A veteran of the tour circuit, Rocker's dirty, bass-driven sound and ultra-heavy riffs have influenced budding shredders from Maine to Alaska. She's tough, she's brash, and she'll break your heart faster than an A string. Biography in Guitar Hero II

Finally embracing her feminine appeal, Casey has risen to the status of 'Goddess of Rock'. When asked by a reporter if she had sold out, Casey replied with a roundhouse to the face. 'Don't worry, I'll pay the medical bill.' Biography in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero World Tour, Guitar Hero: Metallica, Guitar Hero: Smash Hits, and Guitar Hero: Van Halen

Genres: rock, metal, [1], [2], Punk Rock, Southern Rock

  • Ambiguously Christian: Her outfits in most games (including GHII, GHIII, GH Arcade, and pre-transformation in GH Wo R) feature a crucifix-like necklace.
  • Goth: Not as blatant as some of her male companions, but Casey's dark color scheme, heavy use of makeup, and (per her in-game descriptions) cynical and short-tempered attitude lend themselves well to that interpretation
  • Ms. Fanservice: One of the most iconic of early-21st century gaming. Her default appearance from GHIII onward features her wearing nothing above her waistline but a bra and assorted necklaces.
  • Snakes Are Sexy: Her warrior form in Warriors.
  • Southern Gothic: Her outfit in GHII, the crucifix-like necklace she usually wears, and her performance of [3] all indicate that she's from the Southern United States. She's too edgy, rebellious and creepy to be Sweet Home Alabama, but she's heroic (or at least non-villainous) enough to avert The Savage South.

Introduced in Guitar Hero III

    Elroy Budvis

Li'l Elroy started banging on the ivories when he was 6. The neighborhood kids weren't too nice about his love for the keys telling him: "Sissy-boy plays the piano!". It didn't take long for him to pick up the guitar after that. In a band since he was 12 - his love of the steel strings has never faltered. Then a producer gave him a steady studio job - until the day he met a legend in the flesh - he learned the chops from this idol of a by-gone era and soon he was handed his trademark massive golden belt buckle. From that day on his motto has been: "Heavy Metal, Punk, Polka? It's all rock 'n' roll to Elroy baby." Biography in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

    The God of Rock

Once human, the God of Rock has ascended to the highest level of rocking and plays nightly in a small pub on Mount Olympus. Biography in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

Genres: Power Metal, Speed Metal

  • Ambiguous Situation: There are references in this world to both the Greek gods (since he "plays on Mount Olympus") and to the Abrahamic God (whose Hell is clearly a very real feature of the Guitar Hero universe). What relationship the God of Rock has, if any, to these faith traditions is never indicated.
  • Barbarian Long Hair: His hair hangs FAR past his shoulders and down to his lower back.
  • Big Good: Of the Guitar Hero franchise as a whole. He may possible share this with The Demigod of Rock as well.

  • Mystical White Hair: He sports long flowing white hair that glows brightly, befitting his status as a deity.
  • Power Echoes: His voice gives off a mighty echo during the Tutorial Lessons in Legends of Rock, and he later demonstrates this in his appearance in Smash Hits ( although up until the end, Lou was secretly impersonating him in order to manipulate the rockers into collecting souls, but Lou clearly went the extra mile to make his disguise convincing enough, and so he imitated everything from the God of Rock's appearances, his attire and his voice).
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Well, supernatural BLUE eyes.

    Lou

  • Bad Boss:
  • Big Bad:
  • Big Red Devil: He certainly fits this to a T.
  • Butt-Monkey: Given who he is, he has been the victim of this a few times, such as in Guitar Hero: Metallica, when the tribute band, Lil 'Talica drive up to audition and end up ramming into him with their van.
  • Disney Villain Death: Subverted, as he doesn't die, but two of his defeats both involve him plummeting back down to, presumably Hell.
  • Devil in Disguise: Well, yeah. Look at him!
  • Dragged Off to Hell: Is ironically on the end of this HIMSELF, at the end of Guitar Hero: Metallica, he attempts to reassert to James Hetfield that he signed a contract with the Glam Rock band, The Poseurs, only for James to reveal that he unknowingly crossed his fingers when he signed, making the contract null and void. The ground suddenly rumbles, and two large tentacles rise up and wrap around Lou, pulling him back down from whence he came!
  • Louis Cypher: With a name like Lou, and his sinister air, his true identity is far from secret.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Is this throughout the story mode, acting as the cover band's seedy manager.
  • Sinister Shades: Wears these at all times.

    Metalhead

Metalhead's life cycle began as a self-guided Russian warhead. After the Cold War he was disarmed and hocked for spare parts. A few toasters, some vacuum tubes, a '57 roadster, and a cheese grater later, and Metalhead was the first fully autonomous robot. Thus began Metalhead's full-on assault against all things slow and lame. Far from his humble Soviet silo beginnings, Metalhead is ready to get on stage and drop the bomb! - Biography in Legends of Rock, World Tour, and Metallica

She may be cute, but Midori does not mess around when it comes to the electric six-string. From the land of the rising sun, this rising star knows how to rock. You'll be mesmerized by her bubbly rhythms and blown away by her cheerful chords. Studying from the senseis of rock, this prodigy has fans on every coast. Biography in Guitar Hero Ton Tour: Decades

  • Cool Shades: He is Slash, of course.
  • Stage Name: The real Slash's legal name is Saul Hudson.
