Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

I'd greatly appreciate it if it wouldn't be too much trouble if in the Video Games section of FallenCreator that Eric Chahi's section could be removed or at least heavily cut down as it contains bundles of inaccurate information. He was still held in very high regard after heart of darkness, the game won several awards and a platinum edition was released for playstation in Europe and is seen by most fans as a solid follow up to another world, even improving on many aspects of the game such as animation and programming. There was no bankruptcy of any kind connected to the game, and it didn't ruin his career as a game artist. His absence from the industry was literally just him going on a long vacation break due to working almost nonstop on games for more than half a decade, using the earnings of Heart of Darkness to visit and study volcanic geological formations. His entry on this page was clearly just one person's bitter TakeThat from a while ago that has not been altered or added onto since. The general public still thinks very highly of Eric and many other game developers like Hideo Kojima and Fumito Ueda cite him as a large source of inspiration, and indie developers such as Playdead claiming Heart of Darkness as a direct inspiration for their own games Limbo and Inside. I think that his inclusion in the page goes directly against the note on it that states only examples where it's clear that public relations have turned sour should be included.

At DC Comics, please change the "Elseworlds" category to "Miscellaneous"

At Batman, please remove Deacon Blackfire from the Post-Crisis section, and change the Elseworlds section as follows:
Miscellaneous (Alternate Continuities, Miniseries, One-Shots)
  • Batman: The Cult: Deacon Joseph Blackfire is a cult leader who believes humanity is a lost cause and deserves to be purged. Establishing his cult by kidnapping, torturing, and brainwashing homeless people into becoming his followers, Blackfire uses them to begin butchering criminals across Gotham, from entire crime gangs to petty pickpockets. Brainwashing Batman into assisting him, Blackfire assassinates numerous politicians across the city and kills dozens of police officers and soldiers before seizing control of Gotham City. Blackfire then allows crime and anarchy to run rampant throughout the streets, along with holding mass lynchings and executions regularly and displaying the bodies for all to see. Claiming to be immortal, Blackfire regularly bathes in a huge cauldron of human blood, having used the blood of hundreds of innocents for his baths. When confronted by Batman, Blackfire tries to force him to kill him in order to make himself a martyr and convince his followers to carry on his human-purging quest. Whether he is truly thousands of years old or just a petty con man is left ambiguous, but regardless, Deacon Joseph Blackfire was a narcissistic and misanthropic psychopath who stood out as one of the few villains Batman nearly killed due to his depravity.
  • Batman: Earth One:
    • Volume One: Mayor Oswald Cobblepot note  takes Corrupt Politician to new levels. Cobblepot runs Gotham like his own private Mafia and tried to have Thomas Wayne killed for running against him as Mayor. He represses the courts through fear and intimidation, allows crime to run rampant and utilizes an insane Serial Killer called Birthday Boy by providing him with young, female victims. When a judge fails to stop Harvey and Jessica Dent from investigating him, Cobblepot has the judge's eldest daughter given to Birthday Boy in payment for the assassination of a corrupt officer who has become a liability, promising that should he fail again, the judge's younger daughter will be next. When he finally confronts Batman, Cobblepot tries to slice him to pieces with a sword umbrella, laughing about the corrupt nature of Gotham City and how his only regret was that a mugger got to Thomas Wayne before his plan went off.
    • Volume Two: This volume's Big Bad, The Riddler, is a nobody attempting to be somebody. To that end, after Mayor Cobblepot's death, he takes over one fifth of the criminal empire and has aspirations on the other 80 percent. Framing his assassinations as mass killings, the Riddler rigs an elevator with a bomb and gives the inhabitants sixty seconds to answer a riddle, killing all on board (including his target) when time is up. His next target is killed when he bombs an art museum. The third is onboard a public train with families and children aboard. When Batman gets the riddle correct, the Riddler blows up the train anyways and later attempts to blow up the police precinct to tie up loose ends.
  • Batman: The Ultimate Evil: In this novel by Andrew Vachss, and the graphic novel adaptation, William X. Malady is a wicked sociopath who makes a profit off of the lives of children. Originally the leader of a child pornography ring he ran from Gotham City, Malady fled the country after having the benevolent Thomas and Martha Wayne gunned down for investigating his crimes, then having the gunman himself killed. Taking up residence in the foreign country of Udon Khai, Malady immediately installs a private military group that he uses to regularly kidnap innocent children from poor villagers, killing any who attempt to stop them. Malady then uses the children as sex slaves until they wear out from exhaustion, at which point Malady either kills them or simply lets them drop dead. Having subjected hundreds of children to this horrific fate while simultaneously paying pedophiles worldwide to send him videotapes of themselves raping children for him to sell on the black market. Malady, in order to prevent moles from infiltrating his organization, has instituted an initiation protocol where, if one wishes to gain access, they must rape a child on film. When Rhama Bgyn, leader of the rebels who fight against Malady's tyranny, has him at gunpoint, Malady pathetically begs for his life and disgustingly offers to "replace" Rhama's late cousin, who died because of Malady. A disturbingly realistic villain who, despite his lack of a gimmick or powers, stands out as one of the most monstrous villains Batman has faced, William X. Malady is described in the perfect manner by Rhama himself: "You are no man. You are a demon! A peddler of children! YOU STEAL CHILDHOOD ITSELF!"
  • Joker: This self-titled graphic novel, released soon after The Dark Knight, was created specifically to remind people that no matter how "cool" the Joker may seem, he is still a monster. After being released from Arkham Asylum and being picked up by a man sent for him named Johnny Frost, the Joker goes to a bar to kill the bar owner by skinning him alive, despite the fact that he was the one who sent Johnny to pick the Joker up. After forcing the Penguin to work for him by threatening to feed him to Killer Croc, the Joker goes on to kill many people, before raping Johnny's wife Shelly. After that, the Joker sets the streets of Gotham on fire, and shoots Johnny when they are confronted by Batman.
  • Elseworlds:
    • Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham, by Mike Mignola, Richard Pace, et al.: Ra's al Ghul is imagined here as a stand-in for Abdul Alhazred, the Mad Arab, and is the Big Bad of this Lovecraft-inspired storyline. Having written the Testament of Ghul years back and having been rent apart by an invisible beast afterwards, Ra's is resurrected by his daughter Talia and he immediately returns to business, drowning Gotham in a sea of reptiles and proclaiming Bruce Wayne their first victim. Now a faithful servant of the eldritch god Iog-Sotha, Ra's hopes to allow Iog-Sotha passage into the world to end all humanity and begins arranging the material for its passage through, tearing through the now-mad Grendon and leaving him to slowly freeze to death whilst having a plant demon he creates from Grendon's seed to assassinate Oliver Queen and nearly murder the young Tim Drake. Afterwards, Ra's al Ghul has Harvey Dent subjected to a horrific, painful mutation that eventually renders Harvey immobile and twists half his body into a gate through which Ra's attempts to draw Iog-Sotha forth through. Ra's mutates his own form in his final, furious attempt to slay Bruce, fanatically claiming that a "million million" souls will follow Bruce into Hell when Iog-Sotha makes its crossing.

I know there's a thread for discussing changes to Five-Man Band, but I read the request guidelines and think this counts as "purely technical." I'm requesting a typo fix: from " 60's and 70's " to " '60s and '70s " in the paragraph after the band member descriptions.

[up]That's not a typo. That's a matter of style. Some style guides say that numbers, like single letters, should get apostrophes when forming the plural—others say they shouldn't. And some (the most scholarly) say it depends on regional usage. (American vs. Commonwealth is the biggest divide, but it's not quite that simple.)

The other wiki has a summary at Apostrophe#Use in forming some plurals.

Okay, call me a nitpicker if you want...

On My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, please correct the title at the beginning of the description to "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic".

Yes, it's the correct capitalization; "Is" is the verb here and not a short conjunction.

Not necessary, I believe. In fact, I've removed the entry from PRLC now.

On Donald Trump: For clarification, could "tropes associated to Trump" be changed to "Tropes Associated with Media Portrayals of Trump"?

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.

No, because the current trope list is not so specific.

  • 15252: Either put together a very convincing argument for why he shouldn't be on the page - it is YMMV, or provide a substitute write-up.

DTH otherwise.

[up] Regarding [up][up], if you look at the related page for Music.Kid Rock, you can see that it thinks there's a link from "SignatureSong/0 K". It's right at the tope of the list of links. And it is not even a valid pagename, but the system still thinks the link is there.

eta: its such an invalid pagename that my first three attempts to make it a working link all failed. :)
