Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

In The Bible, there is an inappropiate listing of Start My Own.

  • Start My Own:
    • In popular legend, when Simon Magus couldn't bribe his way into the new Church—thus inventing the term "simony"—he went around heckling Peter and trying to raise his own church by magic. They then had a showdown in Rome, where Simon wound up dying with varying degrees of impressiveness, Depending on the Writer. In the actual verse where he's mentioned, though, it says he became a lay worshiper.
    • Gnosticism, as a very early example. And later the Christianity of Constantine, who simply threw Jesus on the pile of gods he already worshipped.
    • Early Catholics believed that Muhammad was one of these divisive figures, which is why Dante Alighieri put him in Hell with similar offenders.

Saint Constantine and Muhammad are not in the Bible, so they shouldn't be listed there. Delete those entries.

Please replace the Caligula entry at Comic Books with this:

  • Caligula, by David Lapham and German Nobile: The demon who possesses Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus and rechristens himself "Caligula" is a psychopathic trickster who uses his new status as Emperor of Rome to fully indulge in his penchant for sadism. Caligula establishes himself as a heartless sadist when, on a whim, he leads a gang rape and massacre of an entire family of farmers, including the 4 year-old son; he regularly commits similar atrocities. Taking great joy in forcing people to act out "plays" he himself has written, Caligula often uses said plays to force the partakers to cannibalize, rape, and murder each other, often taking part himself. Along with regularly raping and torturing his flesh-and-blood sister, then promising to corrupt her newborn, a product of his raping her, into evil, Caligula also personally butchers people by the dozen, arranges their bodies in "artistic" manners, then rips out their very souls, devouring them and trapping the souls in constant agony. Even when seemingly beaten, Caligula Body Surfs into anyone he can, continuing to murder innocents and devour their souls in a ritual he attempts to use to drive Rome to tear itself apart, and eventually settles in the body of the young Nero, fully planning to obtain the throne once more and destroy Rome for good. Psychopathic, egomaniacal, and with his own twisted sense of "art", Caligula was as wicked as a demon could be, and took great joy in being as evil as possible.

Please also add the following to Caligula:

Hi, I was wondering if I could add some notes on the Trivia page for Ghostbusters 2016 about some deleted scenes cut from the film, that I've found on the DVD release?

  • A deleted subplot had Erin breaking up with her boyfriend Phil after he ignored her when she was being fired from the university. Phil also would've confronted Erin shortly before the team's first bust, only to be rebuked by her.
  • Rowan's possessing Abby was going to be shown in more disgusting detail, as slime oozed from her body after he got inside her, and he gloated about how she couldn't fight back.
  • After the team is discredited following Rowan's death, Erin would've had an altercation with an annoying blogger who mocked her with the "Ghost Girl" insult. The ensuing media fallout and scandal would've had her separate from the team for a while to cool down. Another scene from an earlier version of the subplot would've had Erin attempt to be rehired at her university, only for the Dean to cruelly get her hopes up then have her evicted from the premises. Erin would've had a fight with Abby over trying to leave again.
  • The dance scene with Rowan/Kevin in the credits is actually from a cut dance number where he makes the army and cops dance to "You Should Be Dancing".
  • An alternate version of Erin and Abby meeting Dr. Gorin would've had Holtzmann declare that she and Erin are dating, only for Erin to hastily respond that she's dating Kevin, much to Holtzmann's dismay.

Is that okay? Please do let me know if I need to reword something or whatever. Also I had a few notes for the YMMV page that I would like to have added, totally cool if it doesn't merit adding.

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: When we first meet Patty and Rowan, the latter takes a moment out to say that nobody cares about her, and that when the Fourth Cataclysm comes, "laborers" like her will be the last to die. Is Rowan genuinely taking pity on a fellow lower member of society and offering what he thinks are kind words in his own warped mind, or is he just screwing with her?
  • Evil Is Cool: Some of the ghosts are really cool and even genuinely creepy or intimidating, such as Gertrude Aldridge, the Lincoln-esque float that notices the team, and the ringmaster ghost.
  • One-Scene Wonder:
    • The skeletal ringmaster ghost who serves as a Mook Lieutenant only appears briefly during the final fight, but he's tall, imposing, and creepy.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Both cuts of the film (as well as some deleted takes) dance around the fact that Rowan is an Evil Counterpart of the team, and fleshing out how he was similarly bullied all of his life like the main cast could've helped make him a more interesting villain.

Sorry for the overload of stuff, I'm part of the little film's (and Kate McKinnon's) fanbase.grin

[up][up] Nombre Tornado — are you sure you got the labels right for Analysis / Anti Hero? I thought Classical Antihero was the former "Type I" (and so on from there) but you didn't give that one a label, and you labeled "Disney Anti Hero" as "Type I", and so on from there. Apologies if you were correct — that's why I wanted the labels in the first place! ;-)

I made a mistake adding this trope in Final Fantasy VII: Playable Characters under Cloud

  • What the Hell, Hero? He beats up Aerith in the Temple of the Ancients, causing her to leave the party. Granted, he was being controlled, but still...

Sometime after that page's locked, I realized that this is misused. Can someone help me remove it?

On Barack Obama, please correct the third sentence in the Puppet Shows section with the following:

The sketches tend to mock Obama's MartyStu portrayal in the media, as well as his perceived WideEyedIdealism, often pairing him up with WesternAnimation/MickeyMouse.

@nombretornado Thank you! Although shouldn't the trivia notes I wrote about the deleted scenes be under... well, a Deleted Scene bullet?

Now that I think about it, could you add this?

  • Executive Meddling: Paul Feig confirmed that Holtzmann is a lesbian (like her actress Kate McKinnon), but the studio did not allow him to openly state her sexuality in the final film. It's more explicit in the alternate cuts of the film where the character is more open about flirting with Erin, and the theatrical cut is not that ambiguous about it to begin with.

A slight change to the intro of Dog Soldier at Anime And Manga A To J:

  • Dog Soldier: Owing a great debt to American action films, especially those of The '80s, this manga has some very nasty villains:

From here:
  • Fav writeup and Moo rewrite both go to Anime And Manga K To Z.
  • Brendan and Von Kreist both go to Comic Books.
  • Torquemada goes to Film A To E.
  • Raker goes to Fan Works, video games, others.
  • Yates expansion goes to Film A To E.
  • Camerero goes to Film F To O.
  • Gundam ZZ stuff replaces the current entry at Gundam.
  • Bork Dela and Enok go to Literature A To L (I guess just replace the A - C folder with # - C?).
  • Lucas Buck goes to Live-Action TV.
  • Sliske goes to RuneScape, between Drakan and Amascut.
    • For Amascut, please change "Born to the Menaphite gods Tumeken and Elidinis, Amascut was the goddess of rebirth and worked alongside her brother Icthlarin to shepard the dead to the afterlife." to "Once merely the pet cat of the Menaphite gods Tumeken and Elidinis, Amascut was the goddess of rebirth and worked alongside her brother Icthlarin to shepard the dead to the afterlife."
  • Krennic goes to Star Wars, Canon Works, after Vidian.
  • Torquemada goes to Video Games A To K, Assassin's Creed tree, after Addin.
  • Carlyle, Meio, and Onikage all go to Video Games L To Z.
  • Dr. X goes to Western Animation, series.
Thanks smile

Here https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Monster/StarWars, in Canon Works, Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin, is "even though Kanan may not know ahything". It should be "anything". And in the same page, in Star Wars Legends, Emperor Vitiate, is "allowing his insane daughter to scend to". It should be "ascend".
