Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

Here's something on YMMV.Tumblr that's always bothered me:

Considering that Flame Bait is about tropes that shouldn't be put on work pages, Flame Bait should be changed to Flame War.

Internet Backdraft might be a better item to apply there, since Flame War is not a YMMV trope.

Trolls think that kind of thing is funny. It's like punching someone and pointing to someone else as the culprit, just to start a fight. (There's probably a trope for that.)

I have a low opinion of those who destroy just for entertainment and kicks.

Hey, I asked on https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13401353520A80460100&page=24 if the following examples ought to be deleted from Comic Books, but the thread is not super active so I only got one affirmative. Is that good enough to request a deletion?

  • The Chick Psylocke
  • Kid-Appeal Character Jubilee

  • The Lancer The Anarchist (was actually even designed to look like the lone wolf with an attitude problem; Dead Girl is the friendlier variant)

The last few sentences of the first bullet of Awesome McCoolname in UsefulNotes.Barack Obama are kinda wrong. Specifically, 'barak' just means 'lightning' and has no connection to blessings (the name the troper who wrote that was probably thinking about is Baruch, ie Benedictus) or to curses (the Bible thing is called tiqqun soferim and is about people censoring the Bible because they thought mentioning people cursing God was a bad idea).
Therefore I request changing that bullet to:
* "Barack" means 'blessed' in his father's native language (Kiswahili, a.k.a. Swahili). It also means 'lightning' in Hebrew (though the Hebrew word is transliterated differently).
(This also gets rid of Word Cruft, BTW.)

Wish to note that Tabletop Game/Pathfinder has some entries to add to the Horny Devils page:

  • Pathfinder retains the traditional demonic Succubi, who are "formed from the souls of particularly lustful and rapacious evil mortals".
    • Erinyes also appear on the devil's side, but have lost this angle, instead adhering to their mythological inspiration as pursuers of vengeance and bloody justice. The bestiary specifically notes that they lack the subtlety and patience to be seducers. The first "Book of the Damned" adds that they detest mortals and the closest they come to such intimacies is letting those beguiled by their beauty approach before attacking them.
  • The divs have their own take on this with the Pairaka, who embodies "the corruptive nature of unbridled lust". As a result, they are not only beautiful and seductive fiends, but also Plague Masters, who infect those who succumb to their charms with diseases like the shakes and bubonic plague.
  • The daemonic equivalent of the succubus, introduced in the third Book of the Damned sourcebook, is the Erodaemon, who embodies death by heartbreak. They approach mortals and insinuate themselves into their victim's life, and then bring their victim's life crashing down around them, until they are so overwhelmed by grief that they kill themselves. They break apart marriages, kill children or cause them to leave their families, destroy reputations, extinguish faith, curdle family ties, and bit by bit savor the slow disintegration of their victims’ emotional well-being and consequent physical deterioration.

  • Count Luis Yu Almeida stands out from the dark cast of Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, which consists of thieves, murderers, seductresses, assassins, and gang bosses as the protagonists. Count Almeida was the mastermind behind horrible human experimentation. As the owner of Glaucus Pharmaceuticals, he and his scientists conducted Cold War experiments, including mind control, hypnosis, memory and personality manipulation, sensory deprivation, physical abuse, and rape. During the course of these experiments, Almeida convinced two scientists, Dr. Fritz Kaiser and his wife, to include their young daughter in the experimental trials. Then he murders Dr. Kaiser. Almeida doesn't stop there, however. He adds the memories of the tortures he puts his other experimental subjects through to her memories. Thirteen years later, and we see how insane this woman has gone from everything the Count has done to her. Glaucus Pharmaceuticals is now kidnapping children and adults, disguising human experimentation as cult fanatics, and keeping surveillance almost everywhere. Based on all the evidence Lupin compiles on Almeida's guilt, the Count's only desire was to create the perfect slave. The revelation that Luis is already dead by the time the series takes place only drives in the injustice of all he has done.

On Darthwiki.Fallen Creator, there are a couple entries where the paragraphs are either split in two paragraphs with no bullet point on the second half (such are the first subbullet entry for Rare which has this problem mid-sentence) or don't have bullets at all. That should probably be fixed. Also, the entry for Rare has a typo in the word disappeared (spelled as dissappeared).

Edit: also, Interplay's entry about Fallout needs curly brackets around the word Fallout, since it's not linking.

Edit 2: Same entry: "His tenure at the top can be, at best, described as nothing short than a complete disaster." Than should be of, methinks

edit 3: Once again, same page: Creator/THQ needs curly brackets as well

Hi! I hope no one minds that I repeat my request for adding this entry under Literature on the Complete Monster page:

"Ylva Svensdotter from "Röd måne" ("Red Moon") by Swedish writer Elisabet Nemert wants her own brother to die in war, so she can claim the right to his wife's farm. When he does die, she feigns sadness over it. She then has her sister-in-law and her two maids accused of witchcraft, and since this is the 17th century, they're sentenced to death. Ylva also gladly planned for her brother's six year old daughter Indra to die as well, but Indra was rescued. When her daughter Maja lost her ability to speak from the shock of being flogged, Ylva actually accuses her of being a witch as well and has her sent to a family where she is abused and raped for many years. And when Indra returned to claim her mother's farm, Ylva accuses her niece of witchcraft. At this point, Ylva even loses the support of her husband, who had only obeyed her until then."

In Brown Eyes the videogame subfoldered entry * Kasumi and Mila from ''DeadOrAlive''. needs the work namespaced to Videogame/DeadOrAlive and commented out, as it looks to be a ZCE. (unless Locked Pages take a harder line on ZCE's, in which case the example may need to be deleted entirely)

Add Black Doom from the same

On Monster.Table Top Games add

Szuriel to the Pathfinder tree.

Add:

  • Complete Monster: George Hearst is without doubt the nastiest example in the show. A list of his crimes includes slaughtering the Cornish workers in his employ for unionizing, cutting off Al Swearnegen's finger as a show of power, attempting to have Captain Turner kill Dan Dority in a public street fight that is long and drawn out, both to emotionally torture Al and demonstrate that Hearst holds all the power in town. He also hires an army of Pinkertons to terrorize the town, sending Odell Marchbanks on a dangerous quest to find gold which ends up getting him killed. He has the head Pinkerton Barret savagely beat Merrick in response to posting a notice about the poor working conditions of Hearst's employ. Hearst then orders the death of heroic prospector Ellsworth to force Ellsworth's wife to sell the land Hearst wants to him. To demonstrate his power, he also forces Al to murder his favorite prostitute for trying to assassinate Hearst. It's implied he may know Al killed a lookalike girl, but simply doesn't care, more than happy he broke Al completely.

Replace The Shield entries with

  • The Shield has a Crapsack World of corrupt cops and horrible criminals, but Armadillo Quintero, a vicious Mexican drug lord who compensated for his youth with his cruelty, puts many of them to shame. Quintero is introduced by uniting several gangs under his control by having their leaders 'necklaced;' imprisoned in tires and burned alive. A serial rapist, Armadillo tattooed the symbol of a dove onto the faces of each victim. He even did this with the 12 year old sister of one of the men he'd 'necklaced'. When he returns later, Quintero uses minors as drug mules for his low-quality, tainted heroin that endangers the lives of any who use it. When he discovers his brother Navaro may be 'greenlit' in prison to testify against him, Quintero has his own brother murdered with no remorse.

Replace Walker Texas Ranger entries with:

  • Victor Larue of Walker, Texas Ranger is the worst in a show that did not believe in giving villains subtlety. A lunatic who kidnaps and kills others seemingly at random. When Larue captured Alexander Cahill amongst other hostages, he attempted to rape her. In his second episode, Larue is released from prison and begins stalking Alex to drive her insane. He attempts to rape Alex again before he is arrested. In his third and final episode, Larue gets a gun at his trial and murders his own lawyer, the judge and the bailiff, taking the courtroom hostage. While waiting for Walker to arrive, he presides over the court as a 'judge.' In his insane whims, he orders a divorced couple to get back together for their child, but when the child contradicts Larue, he decides to 'reopen' the hearing, planning to murder the kid. Larue kills his other ally when the man is is disgusted by this. Finally, he attempts to rape Alex for the third time before Walker busts in and guns him down.

Replace The Psych entries with:

  • Mr. Yin of Psych is an even more depraved murderer than his former apprentice Yang. He introduces himself by murdering several people and arranging the corpses in a Yin/Yang symbol. A fan of Alfred Hitchcock, Yin murders a woman named Mary in a manner reminiscent of the famous 'Shower Scene' in Psycho. Using this theme as a distraction, he kidnaps the hero Sean's girlfriend and forces Sean to choose between catching Yin or saving her. When he reappears, he continues attempting to murder Sean and everyone close to him. It is also revealed that he's the one who made Yang the monster she was, making him responsible for all her murders as well.

On Monster.Film cut Silers from Winnetou

Add to the same

  • Speaker Eli Raphelson in the film White House Down. While the other villains in the film have redeeming qualities, Raphelson has nothing but greed. Secretly helping a white supremacist militia collaborating with the White House's treacherous chief of security, Raphelson has them take over the White House and cause the deaths of many innocent people while planning to have the Middle East nuked so he can have a new war started and profit off of it. he also tries to set up the President's death and has the Vice President killed to secure his ascension to Commander-In-Chief. When his plan is threatened, Raphelson tries to have the White House bombed with civilians inside so he can eliminate all evidence.

Add to Monster.Anime And Manga

  • Moo from Monster Rancher was originally a Super-Soldier from a long dead civilization. Feeding off anger and hatred, Moo was sealed away when he attempted to destroy the world and corrupt all monsters into his minions. Freeing himself ages later by possessing an explorer. He sought to manipulate the man's daughter to fulfill his own ends and set about forcibly corrupting monsters into his minions. Moo has no compunction killing anything in his way and destroying the minds of those he can corrupt. Moo attempts to kill any minion he believes is an issue for him, and his ultimate goal is to find his old body and resume destroying the planet.

  • Please wrap a Big Bad around Mephiles.
