    Island (2007)
  • Harold to Cody: Both serves as the resident geeky nerd on their teams. Both of them are seen as useless by the vast majority of their teammates, they are often bullied, they both have an unrequited crush on someone, and they prove to be surprisingly effective when push comes to shove. The very real difference is in how they are presented. Harold is depicted as a good person who unintentionally annoys his teammates; while Cody gets along with most of his teammates, he has some seriously perverted personality traits. Harold has often proven to be a reservoir of hidden talent, having managed to save his team in multiple challenges at the last minute, while Cody helps out far less often and sometimes verges into The Load. Harold did not make his feelings obvious for Leshawna, and when Leshawna found out about it, she did briefly kiss him. Cody's attraction to Gwen becomes very obvious, and Gwen does not reciprocate. In the Island special, Leshawna makes it clear to Harold that their kiss was in the heat of the moment, and she just wants to remain friends with him, and although Harold does occasionally make a move on her, he primarily respects her wishes and they work well together in challenges. Cody, despite being fully aware that Gwen was not into him, would not hesitate to try to flirt with her whenever he had the chance, even if it did not help the team, and would even commit actions that are tantamount to sexual harassment. Harold is very much Cody with morals and restraints.
  • Trent and Courtney: Both of them were major characters in Island who had major romance arcs with one of the final four contestants. Both of them were eliminated in the same way. Both of them promptly break up with their respective love interests in Action and are paranoid that their love interests are interested in the other one's love interest. Both are also rather easy to manipulate by playing on their relationships. However, Trent had natural chemistry with Gwen right from the very beginning, to the point that by Episode 5, Gwen was conceding, if reluctantly, that she had a crush on him, and Trent was acknowledging the same thing. Despite Trent abandoning Gwen to be buried alive, it was by accident, Trent was clearly guilt-ridden over it, and Gwen forgave him. While Heather did manage to damage their relationship briefly, once they learned the truth, the two reconciled and actually began to date. When Trent develops an obsession with Gwen, especially over concern about Duncan having a relationship with her, and begins to throw challenges purposefully, Gwen urges him to let her win fairly, and it is not until he does it again that she breaks up with him, and reluctantly urges Trent's team to vote him off. Although the breakup angers Trent, he acknowledges that he played a major role in it, defends Gwen from the other cast, and when Gwen does start dating Duncan, he accepts the relationship and moves on. By very stark contrast, Courtney frequently conflicted with Duncan, and although she had a crush on him, she would not hesitate to yell at him. Furthermore, the relationship was marred by abuse. Courtney frequently abandoned Duncan, injured and crippled him, and showed open disdain and hostility to Gwen over suspicions of the two involved. While Trent accepted Gwen for who she is, Courtney was adamant that Duncan had to change to be perfect. When Duncan voted her off at the end of Action, a furious Courtney swore bloody vengeance. Upon learning about Duncan and Gwen's relationship, Courtney could not move on and repeatedly tried to throw challenges to get the two eliminated while flatly refusing to accept her role in Duncan's decision to leave her.
  • Courtney and Heather: Both of them imposed themselves as team captains of their respective teams. The difference is that during Island Courtney could be reasonable and leave the leadership to her teammates if it was necessary or if they were better at the challenge like she did with Geoff for the cooking challenge or Duncan during the dodgeball game. Heather always wants the team to follow her orders. The biggest difference is that Courtney is against bullying in general and call out Duncan for his behavior towards his teammates (especially Harold), while Heather is the main bully of her team with the way she treats Owen, Beth, Lindsay and Gwen. Especially the latter when she reads her diary in front of everyone, the fact that it didn't help winning the challenge and had no purpose outside of humiliating Gwen.

    World Tour
  • Alejandro:
    • To Duncan. They're nearly perfect opposite of each other. Duncan maintains a tough, hostile exterior but scratch the surface and you'll find a softer caring side. Alejandro puts on a charming act to hide a vileness underneath. Duncan starts off with few friends due to alienating himself with his intimidating bully act but soon garnered quite a few friends after they got to know him. Alejandro was initially adored by everyone, sans Heather, before he betrayed each of them one by one until he was left with no one but Heather. Further contrasts are seen with their relationship with Owen: while Duncan is one of Owen's best buddies, Alejandro came to despise Owen from the start. Duncan also gets along well with his brothers, while Alejandro had a Big Brother Bully and it's implied this Sibling Rivalry is part of his Freudian Excuse.
    • To Owen. Aside from both being male finalists, they are otherwise as different as night and day, which is little wonder why Alejandro despises Owen so much. Owen is an All-Loving Hero and an all-round Big Fun Nice Guy who is adored by all. Alejandro is a Big Bad Friend who pretends to be a gentle soul but in reality, this is an act and he cares for no one but himself and winning. Owen is an unathletic ditz with an occasional challenge he excels at (most notably eating), Alejandro is The Ace and an Evil Genius who excels at everything and on rare occasion shows a weakness (notably having a weak stomach to disgusting food). Owen went into the finale surrounded by friends with the majority rooting for him, while Alejandro's finale had almost no one supporting him (save for a few girls still under his charms) and with everyone yearning for his downfall.
    • To Courtney. They're both highly driven, overly competitive perfectionists who are controlling, narcissistic, and secretly very insecure. But Courtney has No Social Skills and easily makes others hate her just by thinking only of herself and never taking others' feeling into account, whereas Alejandro is highly manipulative and will often convince people he's their friend and looking out for their best interests while in reality using them for his own purposes. Courtney sees herself as a good person and doesn't understand why others don't like her whereas Alejandro prides himself on being the most evil person in the room.
    • To Harold of all people. Both of them possess a wide array of bizarre but useful talents that they tend to pull out of nowhere to help their teams win challenges (usually justified with a short anecdote about their backstories). Still, while Harold is a Socially Awkward Hero who unintentionally annoyed his teammates while (usually) being heroic and well-intentioned, Alejandro is a The Charmer and extremely popular with his teammates, and ruthless and villainous. Harold's good qualities win him the respect and appreciation of his teammates, while Alejandro's negative qualities gain him the hatred of almost everyone on the show.
    • To Justin, both are highly good looking and charismatic, and gain intense reactions from everyone they meet. They both put on polite, affable facades to hide their highly manipulative and narcissistic personalities, but Justin's spent his whole life coasting on his looks and never developed any skills or intellect, Alejandro on the other hand is The Ace, he's basically what Justin would have been if he'd ever had to work for anything in his life.

    Revenge Of The Island
  • Anne Maria's very similar to both Eva and Leshawna, considering that, like the former, she's an aggressive and tough contestant who's easily angered and provoked but has a heart of gold and is very sassy like the latter.
  • Brick:
  • Cameron:
    • To Cody and Harold, his predecessor nerds. Both Cody and Harold were characterized as being dorks who tried to be cool and seek attention, while Cameron is a Shrinking Violet who remains shy and timid through most of his appearances but later grows out of it over the course of the season. Both Cody and Harold possess unexpected physical resourcefulness to their teams, while Cameron is almost always useless in physical challenges. There are also differences in intellect, with Cody and Harold being more circumstantially smart by displaying MacGyvering abilities, while Cameron is an Impossible Genius able to construct futuristic tech like Powered Armor and rocket engines. Finally, Cameron has never chased/pursued any girls, which was a major character arc for both Cody and Harold.
    • To Owen, with both of them being the unexpected underdog who became a finalist of their debut seasons. While both are Nice Guys and All Loving Heroes, the similarities end there. Owen is the Big Fun party guy who is easygoing towards everyone, while Cameron is a Shrinking Violet who has to be coaxed into social interaction. Owen is dimwitted and overweight, while Cameron is an Impossible Genius with possibly the lightest body mass out of the entire cast. Owen didn't care in the slightest whether he won, while Cameron had something to prove in how far he made it. Owen went into the finale surrounded mostly by his friends (with the exception of Heather) and ended up having a friendship finale, while Cameron's had to go up against three of his adversaries (Jo, Scott, and Lightning).
  • Dakota:
    • To Lindsay, set up as a contrast of the 'blonde pretty girl' stereotype. While both are Daddys Girls with fathers who spoil themselves silly, there is an important difference. Lindsay is happy with what she has even though she doesn't have everything (hence wanting to win the million), Dakota is spoiled to the point where she has everything money could buynote  but was not satisfied as the one thing money couldn't buy was fame. While Lindsay was beloved by all, Dakota ended up annoying quite a few with her spoiled attitude and her paparazzi. Lindsay is a Dumb Blonde who makes a lot of ditzy moves, while Dakota has a reasonable degree of common sense. Lindsay also ended up in a stereotypical cheerleader-jock relationship with Tyler, while Dakota ended up getting together with resident nerd Sam in an odd case of Opposites Attract.
    • Dakota's performance in Revenge of the Island parallels Ezekiel's performance in World Tour. In their respective seasons, both were eliminated very early, insisted on returning, and eventually mutated into literal monsters. Both of their transformations were fueled by their resentment of Chris and involved a change in skin color and hairstyle, as well as the loss of their footwear. The big difference, however, is that while Ezekiel becomes a feral, greed-driven parody of Gollum that is seemingly unable to talk, Dakota retains her sanity and is able to talk in broken English.
  • Dawn to Bridgette and DJ as the kindhearted nature lover, even taking DJ's spot on the log in the opening. However, while Bridgette and DJ are generally well-liked by their peers, Dawn comes off as a Creepy Child who many campers are disturbed by. In addition, while all three are All Loving Heroes, Dawn takes it the furthest of all by being The Empath who tries her hardest to see the good in people. Also specifically to DJ, while both are an Animal Lover, for DJ it tends to not be mutual and constantly gets attacked, while with Dawn she is The Beastmaster with animals assisting her whenever they can.
  • Jo:
    • To Duncan, taking his place as The Bully type character of her generation and the Lesser of Two Evils. Both bullies had favored targets, with Duncan picking on Harold, while Jo would torment Cameron and Brick. Both have also had their respective nerds eventually get revenge upon them and win over their respect. However the differences becomes apparent when Duncan is revealed to be a Jerk with a Heart of Gold who uses the tough guy visage to hide a softer side, while Jo has a tendency to be Faux Affably Evil to manipulate others and is for the most rotten on the inside. Furthermore, Duncan legitimately makes quite a few friends, while Jo drove away virtually all her allies with her vileness. Finally, Duncan is known for being very laidback with a "who cares" attitude, while one of Jo's defining characters is a competitive drive to be the best at everything.
    • To Eva. Jo takes the general premise of Eva's character (brawn and a serious attitude) and builds a much more complex and hyper-competent competitor.
    • To Heather. In many ways, Jo is a more athletic version of her. The two of them immediately establish themselves as the Bad Boss of their respective teams and intimidate others into going along with their demands as well as not above playing dirty. Both also force more weak-willed contestants into alliances with them (Beth and Lindsay for Heather, Cameron for Jo), with said underlings eventually being directly responsible for their elimination. The difference is Jo is a threat both physically and psychologically and is very active in challenges, while Heather prefers to limit her contribution and manipulate her teammates into doing the heavy lifting for her. This is particularly evident when the two are put on the same team in All-Stars and spend several episodes butting heads over leadership.
    • To Scott. Both are the Token Evil Teammate of their respective teams but have different approaches to their antagonism. Jo plays Drill Sergeant Nasty and pushes her team through the wringer to get them to perform at their best while feeling the weaker members are expendable. Scott is a Team Killer who tries to make his team lose so that he can vote off strong players that he deems to be threats. Jo typically intimidates and bullies others into complying, while having a rare moment of Faux Affably Evil or Pet the Dog. Scott is a Manipulative Bastard who primarily plays the Big Bad Friend, while rarely being open about his true rotten nature such as when he blackmails Mike or extorts Cameron for information.
  • Lightning:
  • Mal to Scott. Both are villains who resort to sabotaging their own teammates, but their reasonings are completely different. Scott's choice of strategy was to make his team lose so that he could keep voting off his competition, while Mal had a complete lack of strategy when screwing over his own team and pretty much was doing it For the Evulz. Both also choose to primarily manipulate Zoey, though while Scott simply took advantage of Zoey's naivety, Mal exploited her trust in Mike due to his Hyde Plays Jekyll act. On a similar note, both villains are among the few who do not rely on alliances, though Scott didn't choose to form any alliances by preference, while Mal did attempt to form a few alliances but was simply too evil to make them work for long and betrays most of them before he gets any benefit from said alliance.
  • Mike:
  • Sam:
    • He shares a few traits with Cody, both being a certain species of techno-geek plying for the affections of a girl, though Sam actually succeeds.
    • He shares quite a few similarities with Owen as well: They're both fat, good at speed eating, and extremely nice. By "Food Fright" he seems to be a full-out replacement for Owen, acting as the Heroic Hamsters' speed eater during the eating portion of the episode's challenge (although he's not nearly as good at it as Owen was).
    • To Trent. Both characters are among the more ordinary contestants of their generations, Nice Guys, and major pain magnets of their debut season who were heavily involved in romantic plots with a girl (Gwen and Dakota respectively) and played a major role in helping said girl develop as a character. However, similar to the Trent and Mike example above, whereas Trent is a smooth, handsome, and confident Chick Magnet, Sam is instead a scruffy, overweight nerd with a low opinion of himself.
  • Scott:
    • To Alejandro and Heather. Both his predecessor villains made numerous alliances throughout the game and played dirty to make sure their teams would win. Scott tries hard to make his team lose so he can vote off his competition and never makes a single alliance in his debut season.
    • To Duncan. Both have reputations as the devious troublemakers of their generation but while Duncan was The Bully who openly tormented others, Scott chooses to be Schemer who keeps his true nastiness hidden from public eyes. Both also end up as the primary nemesis of the generation's nerd (Harold for Duncan, Cameron for Scott). All-Stars has fun with this by having both boys taking a level in kindness with waning villain threats. The cherry on the cake, both of them ended up dating Courtney at some point, showing Courtney Has a Type.
    • Scott in All Stars displaces Tyler as the series' Iron Butt Monkey.
  • Zoey:

    Pahkitew Island
  • Amy:
  • Beardo:
    • To B, whom he physically resembles, with both having tendencies to not talk (although Beardo did speak in his audition tape whereas B was completely silent) while having early eliminations. The important contrast is B was an asset to his team and was targeted for elimination by Scott because of his resourcefulness, while Beardo was considered The Load and did nothing but annoy his team who had no hesitation in eliminating him after the first episode.
    • To Staci, as both were ousted first within their respective debut season for being deemed too annoying to their teammates with Staci via her constant lying and Beardo with his sound effects.
  • Dave:
    • He is practically a Spear Counterpart to Courtney: Both Courtney and Dave have an uptight and neurotic personality, and both have a tendency to whine when things don't go their way. Also, much like with Courtney's situation, a toxic relationship with another person leads to Dave's Sanity Slippage.
    • To Mike: Both have a similar color scheme and a mental disorder that proves to be troublesome and are part of a couple (with Sky and Zoey respectively) that serve as a major plot throughout their seasons. However, while their relationships seem similar at first, they end up going in near opposite directions. Both relationships involved trust issues between the two lovers, but for Mike and Zoey, it was the boy keeping secrets while for Dave and Sky, it was the girl who is withholding the truth. Mike was able to pull through due to his love of Zoey, while it's Dave's love for Sky that destroyed him and left him a wreck. Mike ended up getting the girl and the money, while Dave Did Not Get the Girl or the money and is left with an Uncertain Doom.
    • To Noah: Both come off as being Deadpan Snarkers who are reluctant to help their team, but their characters quickly diverge after this. Noah couldn't care less what anyone else thinks, actually knows his limits and is still able to be an asset to his team when he feels like it. Dave constantly has something to prove, keeps stepping outside his capabilities and ends up paying for it, and is the biggest load to his team after Beardo and Leonard are eliminated. Furthermore, both have an arc of pursuing a girl which had an effect on their in-game performance, but while Noah did manage to win her over and may have had a Relationship Upgrade, Dave Did Not Get the Girl and became a Green-Eyed Monster determined to get revenge on her.
    • To Cody: Both are scrawny nerds who have huge crushes on a cute girl (Gwen and Sky, respectively) but there's an important difference: Cody is a Casanova Wannabe with with some perverted tendencies while Dave is a whiny, neurotic Neat Freak who freaks out whenever he gets even a little bit dirty. Likewise, although, neither of them hooked up with Gwen or Sky, Cody didn't seem to mind Gwen hooking up with Trent as long as it meant she was happy while Dave went Ax-Crazy in the finale after finding out that Sky already has a boyfriend back at home.
    • To Trent, specifically Trent's role in the pilot as "The Normal Guy". Both were Nice Guys who fell for another contestant, let their insecurities get the best of them and ended up suffering a Sanity Slippage and performing a Senseless Sacrifice that resulted in them not getting the girl and taking a level in Jerkass.
    • To Lightning, he was a tall, athletic but unintelligent, overly confident Jerk Jock whereas Dave is a small, frail, neurotic, insecure nerd but they both filled the same role as the surprise Final Boss of the season after the previous villains had all been eliminated. However, Lightning wins in one of his endings, was injured, and is still alive, while Dave loses and freaks out in both endings, is never seen injured by Scuba Bear and is left with Uncertain Doom.
    • To Alejandro, both had a dramatic confrontation with their love interest in their respective finales and in both cases their love interest took advantage of their feelings for her and subjected them to a Humiliation Conga. But Alejandro had been a Card-Carrying Jerkass from the start and being defeated by Heather was his Laser-Guided Karma, whereas Dave had been pretty decent (of entitledly clingy) to Sky before his last-minute Sanity Slippage.
  • Ella:
  • Jasmine is in every aspect a Distaff Counterpart of Manitoba Smith, even down to the fact they're Awesome Aussie Action Heroes.
  • Max:
    • To Alejandro: Both are contestants labelled as "villains" with Eviler than Thou being a heavily emphasized aspect of their character but are otherwise opposites in every other way. Max is a Card-Carrying Villain who openly boasts about being the evilest contestant ever, but is in fact completely incompetent and self-deluded in his Eviler than Thou beliefs. Alejandro, on the other hand, is a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing who hides his evil nature with a charming persona, is The Ace, and indeed proves himself to be Eviler than Thou to the point of making previous Big Bad Heather the hero in his debut season. Furthermore, Max is short, fat, and gonky, while Alejandro is tall, well-built, and extremely handsome.
    • To Mike's evil persona, Mal: Both seem to love committing petty crimes, have only one letter separating their names, are Card Carrying Villains who take pride in their evil and unlike most villains, they are more interested in being bad for the sake of it than the money, but whereas Mal was played as a serious threat without a shred of humanity in him, Max is largely played as a joke who can't accomplish one successful scheme without Scarlett's help and has a redeeming feature in that he loves babies.
    • To Scott: Being a born troublemaker who is also a Butt-Monkey on the villains' side. In addition, they are both hated by animals and get hurt on a regular basis.
    • With Scarlett becoming Izzy's Evil Counterpart, he ends up being one to Owen: Both are naïve, childlike Fat Idiot and The Load of their teams save a few Hidden Depths. Although Owen is a Kindhearted Simpleton without a malicious bone in his body, while Max considers himself an evil genius but is completely out of his depth. Owen was madly in love with Izzy when he knew she was crazy but their relationship was cut to an end when she revealed her super intelligence, Max was close and possibly attracted to Scarlett when he thought she was just a super-genius but when she turned out to be crazy he became absolutely terrified of her.
  • Rodney:
    • He is the third generation's sensitive Gentle Giant, much like DJ for the first gen and Brick for the second gen. However, Rodney is a hopeless romantic while DJ and Brick were largely aromantic.
    • To Scott, as they're both Half Witted Farm Boys and have red hair. However, their personalities are day and night, with Rodney being a Gentle Giant while Scott was a Card-Carrying Villain during Revenge of the Island while becoming somewhat nicer in All Stars. Also, Rodney is eliminated only four episodes in during his only season, whereas Scott has made the final four of both seasons he competed in and appeared in almost every episode during those two seasons.
  • Samey:
    • To Lindsay. She has a very similar relationship to Amy that Lindsay does to Heather, but with the intellect roles switched. Lindsay was simple-minded, submissive and wasn't even aware of Heather's true nature until it was too late. Samey on the other hand is the only one aside from Jasmine who sees Amy for who she is, and ends up being the one to put Amy in her place first rather than the inverse.
    • To Katie and Sadie. Both knew each other before the show, dress the same, have similar names and are treated by everyone as The Dividual. But Katie and Sadie are Heterosexual Life-Partners who are The Dividual because they enjoy each other's company so much, whereas Amy is a Big Sister Bully who copies everything Samey does in order to outshine her and take away any individuality she tries to gain to ensure she always is the more popular of the two. Even their similar names are invoked by an Embarrassing Nickname Amy gave her sister. While treated as The Dividual they are actually Polar Opposite Twins. Even their titles demonstrate this, Katie and Sadie are "The Sweet Girl" and "The Sweet Girls Friend" whereas they're "The Good Cheerleader Twin" and "The Evil Cheerleader Twin".
    • To Zoey. She's a quiet, underconfident girl who has a very low opinion of herself and is literally the "nice" one of her team. However, while Zoey covers up her lack of confidence with an upbeat, outgoing front, Samey is mostly miserable and quiet. They both eventually stand up for themselves, and are eliminated soon after. Samey also grows only a little, showing that she can stand on her own, although her breakthrough is more lowkey than Zoey's. The similarities end there, as Zoey no longer allows herself to be bullied and retains a quieter confidence in later appearances. Samey is only in one season and Amy still tries to walk all over her, even when she stands up for herself. On Amy's side, their dynamic has not changed - the only difference is that Samey won't allow Amy to get away with it without arguing back.
  • Scarlett:
    • She is basically a more serious and evil version of Brainzilla, Izzy's super-intelligent persona. Scarlett also ends up being as psychotic as Izzy; however, Izzy is a psychopath Played for Laughs while Scarlett is a sociopath Played for Drama.
    • Scarlett is a sharp contrast to the previous nerd characters like Harold, Cody, and Cameron. All of her predecessor nerds were characterised by being bullied and taken advantage of by The Bully of the season, while Scarlett herself is the one who bullies and manipulates Max. All her previous nerds are not considered very physically attractive, while Scarlett herself excels in the looks department. But the most important contrast of all, the previous nerds were all heroes (often the main hero) who triumphs against a villain. Scarlett herself is the villain and ends up getting defeated.
    • However, "Evil Scarlett" is often compared with Mal, being the only other true sociopath on the show.
  • Shawn:
    • To Harold due to his personality and role in the overarching story. As both are socially awkward boys with a huge arsenal of hidden talents, both are weirdos with Girly Screams, and both become involved with a much larger dark-skinned girl. Furthermore, they both had to partake in a talent show, where their talent unexpectedly wowed the judge and gave them the highest score.
    • Shawn can be seen as one to Owen and Cameron, as the socially weird male finalist of each generation. Like his predecessors, he's a Nice Guy, a coward, and has No Social Skills. However, while his predecessors both performed very poorly in physical areas, Shawn displays genuine skill and athleticism that allows him to perform well in challenges. His load status instead comes from his zombie paranoia.
    • Shawn has a surprising number of similarities to Ezekiel, with the two wearing toque hats, having shaggy brown hair and soul patches, and both of them have been confirmed to be homeschooled. Despite these superficial similarities, Shawn managed to become a finalist in his season while Ezekiel was eliminated first both times he competed.
    • To Alejandro, Mal and from his own generation Dave: All four of them had dramatic confrontations with their love interest in the finale. But he's the only one who was a Nice Guy and not a Big Bad or Final Boss, and although Jasmine was mad at him, once she realized he was in actual danger she became concerned for his safety and the two made up, ending the season on good terms.
    • To Mike: Both had a blossoming romance with another contestant that was put in jeopardy by a trait they had that the other didn't realise was genuine. Zoey thinking Mike's multiple personalities were just impressions he did and Jasmine believing Shawn's zombie paranoia was just an inside joke they shared. Unlike Mike who went along with this belief Shawn was just as oblivious, thinking Jasmine shared his beliefs.
  • Sky:
    • To Zoey. While they are both Action Girls, Zoey was a Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak, an Everygirl who unexpectedly gained incredible physical ability, while Sky was a Tomboy with a Girly Streak, having trained all her life to be an athlete. They both serve as Team Mom, and de facto leaders at some point, except Zoey is an All-Loving Heroine who puts others before herself while Sky (despite being a nice girl) is a Competition Freak who still prioritizes winning over all else. There is also a very strong contrast in their relationships, as even though they initially seemed to have a similar dynamic of a nice girl and a quirky boy who she found weird. Zoey began a relationship with Mike and has Undying Loyalty. She is even willing to put her own life at risk for his welfare, gets her heart broken by Mike on accident, and ultimately becomes an Official Couple with him. Sky, despite gaining feelings for Dave, ultimately does not put him over the competition, eventually rejects his love and breaks his heart intentionally, at one point even uses his love to manipulate him into helping her in the competition. The two do not get together and ultimately part on bad terms.
    • To Jo. Both take leadership of their respective teams; however, Jo was a Jerk Jock who leads her team with an iron fist while Sky was a Team Mom Lovable Jock who occasionally held the Jerkass Ball. Also, Jo was a Tomboy who hated anything even remotely girly whereas Sky was a Tomboy with a Girly Streak.
    • To Courtney. Both are highly determined girls who take the leadership role of their team. Also, while both had pursued relationships, both Courtney and Sky ultimately put winning the competition above practically everything else, which led to a toxic relationship with their male love interests. Sky was a finalist in her debut season, whereas Courtney has fallen short in every season she was in.
  • Sugar:
    • To Amy. Both are bratty, vain, and manipulative blonde-haired bullies who torment a more innocent character (Ella for Sugar, and Samey for Amy), with Sugar being a Fat Bitch whereas Amy is Lean and Mean. However, Amy gets ousted only three episodes in by Samey whereas Sugar successfully ousts Ella and persists until Pahkitew Island's penultimate episode.
    • To Anne Maria. Both have big hair, wear similar outfits (frilly crop top, denim capris, and wedge sandals), are obsessed with their looks, not very book smart, tend to be Jerkasses, and have an All-Loving Heroine as an Arch-Enemy (Zoey for Anne Maria, and Ella for Sugar). However, Sugar is a Deep South stereotype and acted like a jerk For the Evulz, while Anne Maria is a Joisey stereotype who only acted like a jerk when one of her berserk buttons is pushed.
    • To Heather. Both are dubbed Queens in their contestant labels, are the primary antagonist in their debut season, resorting to manipulation and cheating, and come in third place. However, the similarities end there. Heather is extremely cunning and intelligent, intimidating others into doing things for her. Sugar is The Ditz and Book Dumb, and while very brash and rude mostly just annoys others. While both are able to manipulate others, Heather is The Chessmaster who makes elaborate plans, while Sugar acts on sight and has very little idea how she'll carry on. Heather is very classy and hates people with repulsive behavior like Owen, while Sugar is pretty much Owen's Distaff Counterpart and acts exactly like him. Heather regularly suffered from misfortune during her debut season, culminating in an Humiliation Conga in her elimation episode, while Sugar practically got away with her misdeeds while suffering no major humilation.
    • To Lindsay. They are both Dumb Blondes (although Lindsay's not a natural one) who are very determined and ambitious during the competition, even if they aren't the brightest contestants of the show. The main difference is that Lindsay has more of a Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold personality, while Sugar herself has more of a Spoiled Brat one.
    • To Rodney. Both have a rural background, lack book smarts, and are the Big Guys of their respective teams; however, Rodney is a kindhearted Gentle Giant whereas Sugar is a Fat Bitch sadist.
    • To Beth, as they both are, physically speaking, look less than conventional to look at. Nonetheless, even with some of her questionable moments, generally speaking, Beth herself still has a heart of her own, as opposed to Sugar, whose "dumb, but nice" moments actually hide her truly dark-hearted personality during her first moments within the franchise.
  • Topher:
    • To Justin, who was also vain and obsessed with his appearance and doesn't try to contribute or help his team during challenges.
    • To Sierra, as another Ascended Fanboy obsessed with Chris. However, the differences are that Sierra's affection for Chris was genuine until she finally sees Chris for who he is and abandons all her respect for him. Whereas Topher knows fully well just how twisted and sadistic Chris is and loves him for it, but is eventually revealed to be a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing and attempts to usurp Chris from his job.
    • To Dakota, considering that he's an annoying Attention Whore who entered the competition in order to get some camera time. Unlike Dakota, Topher was shown to be even more self-centered and vain who spent most of the season fawning and sucking up to Chris and barely made any friends during his time on Pahkitew Island and never returned back to the competition after being eliminated, unlike Dakota.
    • To Blaineley, she was a Token Adult Distaff Counterpart to Chris who he initially admired but she eventually began to drive him crazy by acting like his equal and not respecting his property until he ended up physically dragging her out the plane, she also claimed to have been the first person asked to host the show but turned it down. He was a teenage Chris Wannabe who initially impressed Chris with his Teacher's Pet routine but eventually started to drive him crazy with his Stealth Insults and attempts to undermine him. He never had a chance of being host but kept scheming to replace Chris until he got tired of him and tricked him into thinking it was happening to humiliate him before ejecting him off the island.
    • To Geoff after he Took a Level in Jerkass in Action. Becoming the host of his own talk show gradually turned him into a teenage version of Chris and he began to alienate his girlfriend and all of his friends until eventually, they all called him on this and he Took a Level in Kindness again. Topher however never formed any friendships while on the show and remained a junior Chris until he was kicked off.

    Island (2023)
  • Axel to Shawn: While both are apocalypse preppers, Shawn keeps this mostly isolated to himself whereas Axel takes a far more active role in forcing her mindset onto others. And where her drive ended up getting her eliminated early on with no real accomplishments, Shawn managed to reach the finals with plenty of credit on his back.
  • Bowie:
    • To both Courtney and Sky. All three are highly competitive and determined to win the million with the skills to back it up but how much the competition affected their personal and especially their love life and vice-versa is an entirely different story.
      • Courtney's go-getter determinism at doing whatever it takes to succeed had alienated all her peers with her backstabbing and bossiness both in and out of competition. Bowie, however, sets boundaries between his strategic, often scheming gameplay and his actual feelings towards the contestants so he's generally friendly and easy-going off the clock. Both are regarded as The Ace, excelling in athleticism and smarts, but there's a key difference in their people skills with Courtney's severe lack of which eventually drove all her friendships and relationships into the ground while this is Bowie's forte, effectively manipulating others and orchestrating eliminations but still maintaining genuine bonds. In terms of romance, Courtney and Duncan's love-hate relationship becomes progressively unstable and toxic as they continue competing until it reaches its breaking point with the Gwen Love Triangle situation while Bowie puts his with Raj on hold until after the show and it's a lot happier and healthier as a result. Also in spite of her efforts, Courtney always comes up short in all four seasons she competed in whereas Bowie is a finalist in his debut season.
      • Sky is a fellow athletic finalist in their debut season with the same approach to romance regarding the competition, not wanting it to distract them from winning and putting the competition over their respective love interests but are more than willing to date them afterwards. Alas, Sky never had the chance to voice out these intentions with Dave due to their two-way Poor Communication Kills when the latter comes on too strong and refuses to listen if it regards his slim chances with her which isn't helped by the former pushing him away and being a Master of the Mixed Message instead of telling the truth, resulting in Dave voting himself off after Sky told him she never wants to see him again when the opposite is true. This refusal to properly explain reaches its crescendo when Sky was revealed to already have a boyfriend she didn't have time to break up with yet, causing Dave to resent her and destroy any relationship between them before it even began. This was not the case for Bowie who was immediately straightforward with Raj about pausing their relationship, reasoning that he would have to eventually compete against and potentially vote him off, but reassures he'll love to be in a relationship with him. Competition-wise, Sky dislikes underhanded tactics and especially hates losing while Bowie is willing to get his hands dirty but also throws a few challenges for the long game and was a Graceful Loser to Priya for winning in her ending.
    • He is also one to Alejandro, both charismatic and talented individuals that are secretly conniving by orchestrating other's eliminations. However, Bowie has the inverse of his personality, being ruthlessly competitive in challenges yet affable and actually sincere about making friends and relationships outside of the game, and isn't invincible like Alejandro since things don't always go his way.
    • To Lightning: Both are very competitive and athletic black men who are part of a Big Bad Ensemble in their debut season while also becoming finalists, and coincidentally made a contestant voiced by Barbara Mamabolo finish 3rd in their debut season. However, Lightning is a Dumb Jock who became a Big Bad after Scott's elimination and Took a Level in Jerkass while Bowie is a smart strategist who's an active antagonist long before Julia's elimination, even if he was considered A Lighter Shade of Black.
    • To Mal (Surprisingly): Both are Lean and Mean antagonists who put on polite masks to hide their ruthlessness, are willing to manipulate people and sabotage relationships for their own ends, and are the very few antagonists to reach the finals of their debut season. That said, the two are complete opposites in terms of morality. Mal has a Faux Affably Evil mask hiding the fact that he’s the most evil of the antagonists in the show, who will commit countless evil acts For the Evulz, while Bowie is Affably Evil and will only commit the bare minimum of evil acts for his gameplay and is currently the least evil antagonist. They both also have no interest in women, but Mal is a sociopath who’s incapable of forming long-lasting bonds regardless of gender and cares for no one but himself, while Bowie is a gay man who genuinely cares for his boyfriend Raj and is capable of forming genuine relationships and friendships.
    • To Jacques: Both are flamboyant, athletic, effeminately dressed blondes with Bowie being Camp Gay while Jacques' sexuality couldn't be spoken of. They seem friendly but are highly competitive and willing to Scheme, manipulate and sabotage friendships in order to win as well as A Lighter Shade of Black in a Big Bad Ensemble with an Alpha Bitch with berserker strength. However, Jacques had a Villainous Friendship with Josee whereas Bowie and Julia were bitter rivals, and while Bowie had trouble keeping up with Julia when she was enraged, he generally held his own against her unlike Jacques.
  • Chase:
    • To Dave: Both are Ambiguously Brown people who spend their season trying to get with a girl resulting in disturbing behavior. Dave's arc is to try to get Sky to be his girlfriend, while Chase did have a girlfriend and is spending the entire season trying to get her back. Chase both on and off the show is a very social person with even a livestream series with people, while Dave appears to be mostly The Aloner not finding most of the people in his team worth being nice to. As erratic as Dave's behavior was, he still retains some sympathy on the basis that his attitude is indicative of some unresolved mental health issue. Chase just keeps ruining any sympathy the audience can have by showing he was a terrible person well before his Deadly Prank. Another difference is the end result of their relationship, whereas Dave fails to get the girl and is left to an Uncertain Doom, Chase is a Karma Houdini who gets his own girlfriend back and never has to change himself.
    • To Devin: Both are oblivious Butt Monkeys who were involved in a romantic plot with a blonde girl (Carrie and Emma (2023)) whose attempts at trying to impress them are more well-meaning than cruel. However, whereas Devin, despite not being the sharpest tool in the shed, was a kind and friendly Nice Guy who put others first, Chase is instead a selfish Jerkass whose the main reason why Emma broke up with him in the first place. Likewise, Devin was oblivious to Carrie's crush on him while Chase is oblivious that Emma is clearly not interested in him.
    • To Mike. Both are Ambiguously Brown teenagers who were placed 6th in their debut season, while also indirectly putting their Love Interests through a lot of emotional turmoil. However, Mike is a Nice Guy who can’t be entirely at fault due to his mental disability but he always feels guilty whenever he realizes that he has hurt Zoey. On the other hand, Chase has no such excuse for his actions yet he refuses to acknowledge that his actions have hurt Emma and is a massive Jerkass.
    • To Courtney: Both are big believers in Protagonist-Centered Morality, both take Moral Myopia to the point of insanity, both are antagonists not out of any real malice but because the sheer concept of selflessness is unfathomable to them, both can be highly skilled but their ego's often make them The Load, both are emotionally stunted and both were involved in an incredibly toxic on and off relationship with another player. However the two have polar opposite personalities, Courtney is insufferably smart while Chase is insufferably stupid. Chase is calm, laid back and impulsive while Courtney is uptight, controlling and emotional. Chase seems to care more about being on TV than actually winning the money and focuses more on trying to win back Emma, while Courtney puts the money above anything else and will throw any potentially meaningful relationship under the bus to get it. All of Courtney's skills were developed through hard work and dedication, Chase is a slacker whose proficiency at stunts comes from being too dumb for fear and Courtney's ability to be Easily Forgiven is universal while Chase's is exclusive to Emma.
    • To Amy: Both are huge Jerkasses who have known a blond girl before auditioning for Total Drama (Samey for Amy; Emma for Chase) whose relationships with them have become extremely unhealthy and toxic. However, Amy has an extremely unpleasant and volatile personality and is intentionally abusive to Samey so she can always feel superior compared to her sister, while Chase never tries to hurt Emma intentionally yet refuses to acknowledge that his actions have harmed his on-and-off girlfriend because he is such an idiot and narcissist personality-wise.
  • Damien:
    • To Trent: Both are Nice Guys who have a Ship Tease with a female finalist of their debut season, where said finalists have crushes on (Gwen for Trent; Priya for Damien), until they decided to hook up with other people (Gwen with Duncan; Caleb for Priya) while their former crushes support their relationships and remain friends with them. However, Trent was confirmed to be Gwen’s First Love, who reciprocated her feelings for him and formed a romantic relationship with her that fell apart as a result of Trent’s Sanity Slippage, while Damien was a Romantic False Lead for Priya who never made it clear if he returned Priya’s crush on him and instead becomes Platonic Life-Partners with her where their relationship suffers no emotional drama as a result of Damien remaining an Only Sane Man.
    • To Dave: Both are very emotional only sane men whose names start with a D, gets nervous frequently, tends to panic and scream a lot, tried getting themselves eliminated, and have Ship Tease with a more athletic girl in their debut season (Sky for Dave; Priya for Damien), but in the end they Did Not Get the Girl. However, Dave was a Jerkass who had a massive crush on Sky to the point of obsession which ruins any relationship he had with her when he decided to hurt Sky upon discovering that she has a boyfriend. Damien the other hand is a Nice Guy who never confirmed whether he had romantic feelings for Priya or not before deciding to settle with becoming Platonic Life-Partners and the only reason why they didn't have a Relationship Upgrade was because she had a more focused romance with Caleb in the next season, while Damien becomes a Shipper on Deck for both Priya and Caleb.
  • Emma:
    • To Leshawna: Both are spunky Big Beautiful Women who placed 5th in their debut season and are terrible dancers whose relationships are in an in-between space. While Leshawna amicably broke up with Harold, the two still remain extremely close and it's implied that they would get back together in the future. In stark contrast, Emma is in an on-again, off-again toxic love-hate relationship with Chase that will never work out no matter what she tries. On a side note, Leshawna's dancing is so notorious that people paid her to stop during the Aftermath Telethon while Emma found an audience to profit off from hers, earning millions from recording ten-second dance routines on her phone.
    • To Samey: Both are blond girls with bubbly and friendly personalities who audition for Total Drama for the sole purpose of getting away from someone who’s toxic and horrible to them (Amy for Samey; Chase for Emma), only to learn that they’ll be competing with them in the same season, while also befriending someone who’s black (Jasmine for Samey; Bowie for Emma). However, Samey had extremely low self-esteem as a result of Amy’s abuse until Samey takes Jasmine’s advice to finally stand up to Amy and escape her shadow, while Emma developed a volatile temper towards Chase after having put up with his antics for so long, yet chose to ignore Bowie’s advice and get back together with Chase, resulting in Emma’s friendship with Bowie to deteriorate, even after Emma broke up with Chase in Part 2. Also Samey was the 5th person to be eliminated in her debut season, while Emma placed 5th in her debut season.
    • To Carrie: Both are blond girls and have known their Love Interests long before competing in reality shows. However, Carrie is an All-Loving Hero who hardly ever gets angry with anyone and is completely infatuated with Devin, while Emma, while capable of being a Nice Girl, has a volatile temper and vindictive streak towards those she believes have wronged her and has an extremely negative view on Chase.
  • Julia:
    • To Dakota: Both are introduced to being obsessed with their phones, which get taken away from them, and being concerned with fame. Dakota is a spoiled rich Attention Whore and Julia is a social media influencer. However, Dakota is revealed to actually be a nice person deep down and even gets into a relationship whereas Julia pretends to be a nice person before being revealed to be Evil All Along which destroys her relationships with her teammates.
    • To Heather. Both are the Alpha Bitch of their teams who keep their true nature hidden in the beginning, but they play a different game in the competition. Heather preferred to manipulate others into working for her, and once that was over, she had nothing to fall back on, yet still got by thanks to Plot Armor. Julia's only attempt at manipulation backfires, so she gets by in the competition with her own physical skills and is constantly hanging on by the skin of her teeth, knowing that not getting immunity even once is an elimination sentence for her.
    • To Alejandro: Both are the Big Bad of their respective seasons and have a rivalry with a lesser evil (which both happen to be an Asian woman) in the same season they debut, have Fanservice, and pretend to be friendly but are actually evil. Alejandro pretends to be the more charming friendly social type to manipulate, while Julia is more the Granola Girl hippie act to lay low. Alejandro faces Heather in the season finale, while Julia gets MK eliminated before the merge. Also, while Alejandro keeps his facade all the way to the season finale, Julia drops the act halfway through her season and becomes a Card-Carrying Villain.
    • To Courtney: Both start off as reasonable players that don't accomplish much for their team. Both become exceptionally strong in challenges over the course of Total Drama and neither care for the wellbeing of others. Once Courtney got swept up in hooking up with Duncan, she was booted from the game shortly afterward purely because of her relationship with Duncan. She eventually became more and more ruthless, losing all of her relationships throughout the series. Julia on the other hand was entirely fake from the beginning. She never forms any real connections which led to Julia being at her strongest. This is unlike Courtney whose emotional bonds with the others consistently lead to her downfall one way or another.
    • To Blaineley: Both made their careers as image-obsessed tv/internet personalities, with Blaineley co-hosting Celebrity Manhunt and later the Aftermath Special and Julia being a social media influencer, and share many similarities appearance-wise to the point that the latter can pass off as the former's daughter but while seemingly nice at first, they eventually become Hated by All once their true colours were exposed. However, Blaineley threw a huge temper tantrum after getting fired and thrown out of the Aftermath Special and has similar fits when told she's a desperate attention-seeking nobody. Meanwhile, Julia doesn't care what others think of her and was actually relieved at losing all her followers since she doesn't need to pretend anymore. Their time on Total Drama shows their sub-par social skills in spite of their jobs but Blaineley still had the degree to manipulate others like Owen and Chef for an easier time, only to last a mere two episodes anyway whereas Julia abandons that plan altogether for doing challenges the hard way and made it to the final four. Blaineley was implied to be a washout despite what she thinks due to her awful personality with some even disregarding her as an actual contestantnote . In contrast, Julia became even more famous and gained a huge fanbase both in and out of universe because of her awful personality.
    • To Bridgette: Both start the first episode as blond Granola Girls but Bridgette's personality is genuine and is relatively popular with her fellow cast members whereas Julia is in truth an Alpha Bitch that nobody likes. Also, Bridgette's performance is unremarkable, being eliminated early on at the merge in Island and even earlier exits in Action and World Tour. Julia, on the other hand, had a very strong challenge record and made it all the way to the final four in the reboot season.
    • To Amy: Both have blond hair and nasty Alpha Bitch personalities but how they are operated and ranked in the show is noticeably different. Amy made very little effort hiding her horrible nature, yet managed to remain a Villain with Good Publicity by blaming her flaws on her sister Samey. However, this caused Amy to greatly underestimate Samey, who causes Amy to be the first person of their team eliminated, while Samey takes her place in the competition. Meanwhile, Julia actually made an effort to hide her nastiness until MK exposed her true nature and since Julia has no siblings competing to scapegoat, this results in Julia becoming Hated by All. However, this also causes Julia to realize that she can’t rely on anyone but herself moving forward in the game, where she puts her own strength into getting ahead in the competition, gets MK eliminated from the show, and manages to reach the final 4.
  • Millie:
    • To Cody as a fellow third-placer who got far in the competition solely because of heavily relying on an over-enthusiastic, hyper-competent Total Drama fanatic (Priya for Millie and Sierra for Cody) for challenges, while also being literally carried by them at one point, and was considered The Load by many. However, Cody was still able to pull his own weight in winning several challenges without any aid whereas Millie has no outstanding talent in the competition with her only immunity win being because Priya gave it to her even though she did all the work which was lampshaded by Bowie who prefers her to be the finalist merely because of how bad she is.
    • To Zoey: Both are sheltered Girly Girls who had trouble making friends before auditioning in Total Drama, placed 3rd in her debut season and is voiced by Barbara Mamabolo. However, Zoey proved herself to be very athletic and capable of winning challenges on her own, while Millie proves herself to be The Load, whose only win in an individual immunity challenge is a result of Priya doing most of the work for her.
  • MK to Noah: Both are Deadpan Snarkers who refuse to actively help their team, although Noah eventually takes a level in kindness. Both are also related to scheming, with Noah's Island label being "The Schemer" (although it ends up as Informed Attribute in the story) while MK actually does some scheming.
  • Nichelle to Blaineley: Both are vain and self-promoting celebrities competing on the show. Blaineley was forced to do the show and created a ton of fanfare for herself when she arrived while Nichelle agreed to it and was met with a ton of fanfare. Blaineley assumed from the start they'd be using stunt doubles and was dismayed to learn she'd be expected to perform in challenges herself, Nichelle was up for competing in challenges because she believed her own hype of being an action star but was helpless without her stunt double. Blaineley refused to perform in challenges and instead made a deal with Chef to make the challenges easier for herself and was voted off pretty much intently as a result while Nichelle made an honest effort but was voted off quickly due to her ineptitude and after this failure Nichelle came back next season having Took A Leveln Badass whereas Blaineley never returned to the show.
  • Raj and Wayne:
    • To Katie and Sadie: They are inseparable Childhood Friends and Heterosexual Life-Partners who are incredibly like-minded in terms of ditziness, excitability and fashion-sense but unlike the girls, the two do have some distinguishing character traits. Katie and Sadie's identities are solely based on their dynamic with one another alongside their unwanted crushes and the latter trying to be her own person going absolutely nowhere while Raj has a major arc of coming to terms with his sexuality and having a romance with Bowie. Katie and Sadie don't contribute much or anything at all on their team whereas Wayne has been consistently strong in challenges and is usually The Leader of his team. Additionally, Raj and Wayne's Coordinated Clothes have noticeable differences rather than being completely identical to showcase they are not Single-Minded Twins like Katie and Sadie.
    • They also parallel Amy and Samey as the other pair with Coordinated Clothes yet with rather different personalities, but while Amy and Samey don’t get along and despise each other, Wayne and Raj work very well together and are inseparable Heterosexual Life-Partners.
      • Raj serves as one to Samey as both have their own character arc separate from Wayne and Amy respectively, but while Samey’s character arc revolves around standing up to her sister and becoming her own person, Raj’s character arc revolves around coming to terms with his sexuality and gaining the courage to come out to his best friend.
      • Wayne serves as one to Amy, as both have blond hair, are the more aggressive of the pair, and tend to give nicknames to Raj and Samey respectively. However, while Amy is aggressive in a bad way in that she’s abusive to Samey, gives her a demeaning nickname to keep Samey under her control, and contributes nothing to her team, Wayne’s aggressive in a good way in that he’s a team leader who contributes heavily to his team, wants Raj to be comfortable being his own person around him, and gives Raj the Affectionate Nickname "Rajjy" to signify his close friendship with Raj.
    • Raj himself is a parallel to Dave. Both are Endearingly Dorky Indian boys who fall for a very athletic and competitive contestant. However, Dave is a weak Neat Freak who gets easily annoyed by other people and is The Aloner, while Raj is an athletic Lovable Jock who gets along with everyone who came to the show with his best friend Wayne. In terms of their relationships with said athletic and competitive contestant, Dave’s relationship with Sky falls apart when he becomes too obsessed with her and Sky not communicating her feelings properly, resulting in him resenting Sky upon learning she has a boyfriend, while Raj and Bowie are able to communicate their thoughts and feelings properly, and as a result they become a healthy Official Couple.
    • Meanwhile, Wayne is one to Cody. Both of them reach the final three of a season and are set up against a competent protagonist (Heather for Cody, Caleb for Wayne) and a competent antagonist (Alejandro for Cody, Julia for Wayne), and very few people thought they would actually win, as Cody was carried by Sierra throughout the entirety of World Tour, or otherwise the other players would have a better target to eliminate, and Wayne isn't really the smartest player, which shows even throughout the final challenge. While Cody in World Tour is eliminated quickly in a tie-breaker against Alejandro, Wayne, with the help of his friends manages to get first place in Island (2023) Part 2.
  • Ripper to Owen: Both are the largest members of their team known for their gas. But while Owen was a guy everyone got along with, Ripper is a jerk who repulses everyone away from him.
  • Scary Girl:
    • To Izzy: Both are hyperactive, unpredictable, and not trusted by their teams, yet Izzy's chaos is limited to pranks and long, rambling anecdotes; she keeps her ability to cause bodily harm directed at Chef or Owen. Scary Girl on the other hand is a loose cannon who has nearly murdered teammate and opponent alike for a quick laugh.
    • To Dawn: They both have supernatural abilities, can sense other people's emotions, and don't operate on the same moral wavelength as a normal person, which costs them the trust of their respective teams. Unlike Dawn, who is kind-hearted and a pacifist, Scary Girl is a barely restrained psychopath.
    • To Crimson: Both are goth girls with a love of everything macabre and freaking out normal people, but Crimson is an Emotionless Girl who avoids causing harm to others, while Scary Girl is extremely hyperactive and dangerous to friend and foe alike.
    • To Scarlett: Scary Girl is essentially her without her great intelligence or acting ability and more willing to play by Chris' rules. The main difference is her madness is entirely Played for Laughs.
    • To Mal: Both are feared sociopaths who commit their actions For the Evulz, and take delight in hurting others, including their own teammate. Similar to Scarlett's situation mentioned above, Scary Girl differs from Mal in that the former's actions are Played for Laughs.
    • To Max: Both are cartoonishly evil comic relief characters. Max, however, was utterly pathetic in his attempts to be a villain, only capable of bragging about how evil he is and serving as a scapegoat for the real villain: Scarlett. In contrast, Scary Girl was genuinely deranged and psychotic on the same level as Mal and Scarlett and the only reason she wasn't the Big Bad was because she didn't care about winning enough and was too Chaotic Stupid to form any kind of strategy other than mindlessly antagonising her teammates.
  • Zee:
    • To Owen: Both are simple-minded yet kindhearted All Loving Heroes and Big Eaters with a Bizarre Taste in Food who act as the Plucky Comic Relief in their respective seasons. But whereas Owen is known for his size and can be serious when the competition calls for it, Zee is skinny as a rail and very, very much out of it for the most part. They also form Odd Friendships with the more jerkish contestants though while Owen and Noah, in spite of their clashing personalities, are ultimately Heterosexual Life-Partners through and through, Zee may really need to reconsider who he hangs out with given that Chase and Ripper had both abandoned him at one point during the game to life-threatening situations.
    • To Mike: Both are Noodle People, who are very nice, Ambiguously Brown, and have disabilities (Multiple personality disorder for Mike, congenital amputation for Zee). But while Mike is a very shy Nervous Wreck who deliberately kept his condition from people throughout most of his debut season so he wouldn’t be viewed as a freak, Zee is extremely carefree and laid-back, not caring whether or not people knew that he's missing a leg, with his condition revealed in the second episode of his debut season. Both are also the first people to be eliminated in a unique voting twist, with Mike being the first person to be eliminated by a sole vote and Zee becoming the first person to be eliminated by a re-vote, both of which are caused by a Big Bad.
    • To Tyler: Both are Nice Guys who don't deal well with keeping secrets. Both also end up keeping a secret related to one of the couples of the season. However, while Tyler found out about an actual act of cheating, Zee was misled to believe that Caleb was just using Priya by flirting with her, not being aware that he developed genuine romantic feelings for her after he initially claimed to only be interested in The Alliance with her.
  • Bowie and Julia parallel Alejandro and Heather in terms of their Evil Versus Evil dynamic but with the roles of the Big Bad and Lesser of Two Evils being reversed. However, Alejandro and Heather's immense rivalry is intertwined with Belligerent Sexual Tension and the two eventually got together whereas Bowie and Julia genuinely dislike and cannot stand one another, not to mention the obvious fact that the former is gay and has a boyfriend while the latter hates any kind of relationship.

Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race

Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race

  • Don is this to Chris McLean: Both of them are the hosts of their respective shows (Chris for Total Drama and Don in The Ridonculous Race). While Chris and Don are narcissists, they also have distinguishing personalities. Chris is willing to torture cast members for ratings, a trait more noticeable in the later seasons. However, Don would like to take things easy with the show after confirming with the producers, the same producers that inform Chris that what he is doing is dangerous. Most of the time, Chris bends the rules to his whim, resulting in some unfair eliminations. Don, on the other hand, stays more faithful to his rules and doesn't hesitate to penalize [some] teams who break them. Chris is hated by the vast majority of the contestants (especially the first generation contestants that had to put up with his crap since TDI), while Don has fewer haters (Gerry, Laurie, Jacques, and Josee).
  • Chet and Lorenzo to Katie and Sadie: Initially, Chet's and Lorenzo's relationship was the antithesis to Katie's and Sadie's relationship, with the former group constantly fighting each other whereas the latter group was practically inseparable. However, by the end of Chet's and Lorenzo's run, after reconciling, they essentially become the male version of Katie and Sadie.
  • Emma to Courtney: Both are highly driven girls with designs of being lawyers someday. However, Emma starts out cold, but later grows into a much warmer and cheerful person, while Courtney starts rather nice, but turns into a much nastier person. In terms of romance, both try to push away the idea that they like their crush (crushes in Courtney's case), before later getting together with them, but having some sort of flaw put a strain on their relationship. However, while Emma is able to grow past her crazy, almost stalker-like behavior and make up with Noah, Courtney's bossiness and Chronic Backstabbing Disorder lead to both Duncan and Scott breaking up with her.
  • Jay and Mickey:
    • To Cameron. Their immense physical disadvantage and being crippled with ailments mirrors their predecessor, however they lack the intellectual strengths Cameron boasted. In addition, while all the boys entered the reality show in order to prove their work, Cameron managed to make it all the way to the finale, while the Twins made it to a moderate 12th place, but were nonetheless still proud of their achievement.
    • To Amy and Samey. Both are identical twins who competed on the same team and both got eliminated at the same time relatively early. However, while Amy and Samey absolutely despise one another, Jay and Mickey show no major conflict between each other during their time in the race.
  • Ryan's and Stephanie's relationship is a composite of the relationships between Geoff and Bridgette and Duncan and Courtney. At the start, Ryan's and Stephanie's relationship was similar to Geoff's and Bridgette's, constantly making out. By "Hawaiian Honeyruin", Ryan and Stephanie break up and constantly argue with other, much like Duncan and Courtney. However, by the end of their run, Ryan and Stephanie reconcile and get back together, reverting back to a relationship similar to that of Geoff and Bridgette.
  • Both the Ice Dancers, Jacques and Josee, and the Daters, Ryan and Stephanie, are athletic-minded pairs with a Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl and Huge Guy, Tiny Girl dynamic, although the former are Olympic-level athletes while the latter are simply gym junkies. Both Jacques and Ryan are Top Heavy Guys who attempt to be the voice of reason while both Josee and Stephanie are hyper-competitive and have Hair Trigger Tempers. While the Ice Dancers were the main antagonists of the season and had significant interactions with other teams, namely the Police Cadets, the Daters were largely relegated to their own storyline.
  • Taylor to Amy. Both are bratty teenage girls who torment a member of their family; for Amy, her twin sister Samey and for Taylor, her mother Kelly. Both are eventually put in their place by their victim; however, Amy continued to torment Samey, while Taylor eventually, albeit begrudgingly, begins to show the respect her mother deserves. Also, both speak in a Valley Girl accent and share the same English language voice actress.
