  • 101 Dalmatians: The Series:
    • Played straight with Lucky (Pamela Adlon and Debi Mae West), Rolly (Kath Soucie), and Whizzer (Christine Cavanaugh).
    • Averted with the other male puppies: Tripod, Patch, and Dipstick were all voiced by males (Toran Caudell, Justin Shenkarow, and Thom Adcox-Hernandez respectively).
  • The Addams Family (1973) cartoon (and its guest appearance on The New Scooby-Doo Movies the season prior) had Jodie Foster (yes, that Jodie Foster) as the voice of Pugsley.
  • The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius:
    • The title character is voiced by Debi Derryberry. His two best friends are voiced by Rob Paulsen and Jeffrey Garcia, however.
    • Aside from the younger boy characters, the only other older boy character with a female voice actor is Nick Dean, voiced by Candi Milo. Debi Derryberry also voiced Nergal Jr. in The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
    • In the movie, Mrs. Wheezer is voiced by a woman. In the series proper, however, she is voiced by Rob Paulsen, like the rest of Carl's family.
  • Adventure Time has Pendleton Ward voicing Lumpy Space Princess.
    • BMO, as a robot, is sexless, though has been referred to as both "she" and "he", with a slight inclination for the latter. In any case, the robot is voiced by the female Niki Yang, who also voiced Lady Rainicorn.
  • Patrick on Allen Gregory is voice by Cristina Pucelli.
  • In the direct-to-VHS Alvin and the Chipmunks movies, Theodore is voiced by the same woman that voices the Chipettes, Janice Karman.
    • This also occurred in the 1980s series.
  • In The Amazing World of Gumball, Miss Simian, Tina Rex, Coach Russo, and formerly Sussie are all women and girls voiced by men, though Coach and Tina are intended to sound masculine.
  • Unusually for a kid's show, all of the voice actors for D.W. on Arthur have been boysnote . In an interview with voice director Debra Toffan, she said that the reason they did so is because the girls who auditioned all had sweet-sounding voices and were unable to provide D.W. with the husky voice that fit a bratty tomboy like her.
  • Amphibia: Nonbinary actor Kaitlyn Robrock (who is also the current voice of Minnie Mouse) voices Felicia Sundew.
  • In Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, the latter foil to Bats is voiced by Dana Delany (who would later play Lois Lane) as Andrea Beaumont and Stacy Keach (who is a man despite the name) as The Phantasm.
  • In the Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! episode "Eating Crow", Erica Lindbeck, who voices Beth, voices a minor character named Jimmy, a baby who hiccups.
  • Ben 10 (2016):
    • In addition to Tara Strong voicing Ben again, Simon is voiced by Debi Derryberry, though only in his first appearance. Ogie Banks takes over later on.
    • Series regular Roger Craig Smith voices Ben's old babysitter Penny.
  • In Big Mouth, we have Lola and the Swedish twins Lotte and Mila, all three voiced by Nick Kroll.
  • In Biker Mice from Mars, Mad Scientist Dr. Karbunkle, despite being a grown man, was voiced by a woman (Susan Silo), but she did give him a rather weird ambiguous gender voice.
  • On Billy Dilley's Super Duper Subterranean Summer, Zeke's voice actor, Tom Kenny, also voices his grandma.
  • Birdz has two examples: the lead character Eddie (Susan Roman) and Sleepy Bat [and his dad] (Julie Lemieux).
  • On Blazing Dragons, there is rare male-voicing-female case with Queen Griddle, who is voiced by Steven Sutcliffe.
  • Robyn Moore voices the title character in the Yoram Gross era of Blinky Bill.
    • Sarah Aubrey voiced Tico Toucan, who debuted in Series 3.
  • Bob's Burgers:
    • Main characters Linda and Tina Belcher are voiced by men John Roberts (Actor) and Dan Mintznote . Mintz doesn't even try to sound like a girl; it's handwaved as an awkward puberty thing.
    • Sarah Silverman and her sister Laura voice the Pesto twins. Laura's voice for Andy actually sounds like a prepubescent boy, but Sarah's voice for Ollie sounds like Sarah playing an eight-year-old girl (cf. When Ollie says, "Ooh, share!" after Andy finds tampons in his bag on "Bad Tina").
    • It's easier to count the women actually voiced by women on Bob's Burgers than to count the men who voice women. (If you're curious: Tina's edgy frenemy Tammy, Louise Belcher, Aunt Gayle, Mr. Fischoeder's crush Shelby from "An Indecent Thanksgiving Proposal", Linda's mother Gloria, Boyz 4 Now's bus driver, half of the pot-growing couple from "Bob Fires the Kids", Courtney's friend Gupta, and Mort's date in "Weekend at Mort's" are the only female characters over the first three seasons to be voiced by women.)
  • For the American English dub of Bob the Builder, Lofty and Roley are performed by female actresses.
  • David Sedaris guest starred on BoJack Horseman as Cutie Cutie Cupcake, the mother of series regular Princess Carolyn, who happens to be voiced by his sister Amy.
    • Alison Brie does the typical "adult woman voices a little boy" thing with Vincent Adultman
    • In Season 6, Hilary Swank voices Joey Pogo, a young adult male pop star/influencer whose look and high-pitched voice make him slightly reminiscent of Justin Bieber.
  • Regina King plays both Freeman brothers on The Boondocks. You can tell with Riley that it's a woman voicing a boy, but not the voice for Huey.
  • The Busy World of Richard Scarry: Huckle Cat was voiced by a female actress named Sonja Ball.
  • The titular character in Caillou is voiced by girls. His first voice actress, Bryn McAuley, took on the role when she was only 7 as her first voice acting gig.
  • Captain Flamingo has a few examples:
  • Casper the Friendly Ghost was voiced by Cecil Roy in the Noveltoons shorts from the 1940s, by Ginny Tyler in the 1963 ABC series, and by Julie McWhirter on Casper and the Angels.
  • ChalkZone: Both Rudy and Snap were voiced by women (E.G. Daily and Candi Milo). Candi Milo also played Reggie and Blocky (though she only voiced the latter in season one before she was replaced with Robert Cait, who voiced Blocky in the pilot). Various male kid characters have also been played by females in the show (both in the real world and in ChalkZone).
  • Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers provides an interesting example. Chip and Gadget are both voiced by Tress MacNeille. However, due to the audio processing used on Chip and Dale's lines to give the two chipmunks such high-pitched voices, you'd never suspect the reality.
    • Before Rescue Rangers, Chip and Dale were often both voiced by the same person, who was usually female. When the characters appeared in later Disney properties Tress MacNeille and Corey Burton usually reprised their roles as from Rescue Rangers as Chip and Dale respectively, although Tress has occasionally done the voice for both.
  • In Chowder, John DiMaggio voices some female characters such as Kasha from "Mahjongg Night" and the pig lady who debuted on "The Wrong Address".
  • In the Rankin Bass version of Cinderella, one of the ugly stepsisters was voiced by Paul Frees.
    • The studio's iconic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer special had the titular character being voiced by Billie Mae Richards, who was ironically credited as Billy Richards from 1965 onward, as mentioned her 2010 obituary. She also voiced Tenderheart Bear in the first two Care Bears movies and first cartoon series, while she was Brightheart Raccoon in the second one.
    • Another early Rankin/Bass example: on the 1961 Tales of the Wizard of Oz animated series, Larry D. Mann voiced the Wicked Witch of the West (as well as in the 1964 TV special Return to Oz), doing an imitation of Jonathan Winters's Maude Frickert character no less!
  • City Island (2022): Watt is a boy and is voiced by a woman, Kimia Behpoornia.
  • Class of 3000:
  • In one amusing example in Clerks: The Animated Series, it's revealed that Randall is such a crappy, negligent boyfriend that any woman who dates (or at least tries dating) him winds up swearing off men forever and become a lesbian because of the experience. Any lesbian who appears in the episode is voiced by a male, even if they previously had a female voice prior to changing their orientation.
  • Clifford the Big Red Dog: Puppy Clifford was voiced by Lara Jill Miller.
  • Code Lyoko:
    • The characters of Ulrich and Jérémie are played by women. This is particularly funny in Jérémie's case, as both he and his girlfriend Aelita are played by the same actress.
    • The French dub takes it to another level: barring William, all main male characters are voiced by women.
  • Nanny from Count Duckula is voiced by series writer Brian Trueman. The complete opposite of his voice as Stiletto in Danger Mouse!
  • Even if you've seen every episode of Cow and Chicken, it's very easy to forget sometimes that Cow is voiced by a man. Charlie Adler has that little girl voice that's just so darn convincing (and has been heard before on other shows, like The Smurfs (1981), Rocko's Modern Life, and Tiny Toon Adventures).
  • In The Critic, Christine Cavanaugh is the voice of Marty Sherman. It's not hard to miss, since he sounds like Chuckie Finster.
  • The two voices for Crusader Rabbit were female — Lucille Bliss in the original series and Ce Ce Pearson in the color series (1957).
  • Cyberchase has the male Matt voiced by Jacqueline Pillon.
  • Darkwing Duck: Honker and Tank Muddlefoot are voiced by Katie Leigh and Dana Hill respectively.
    • Charlie Adler voices a female bunny in "Malice's Restaurant".
  • DC Super Hero Girls has two examples:
  • Both of Dexter's voice actors on Dexter's Laboratory were women (Christine Cavanaugh and Candi Milo). As mentioned above, both of these actresses, particularly the former, have done this several times.
  • Dingo Pictures take Cross-Dressing Voices to the extreme, at least in their English dubs where women not only voice young characters, but sometimes also middle-aged and old men. Vice versa also applies. In most of their animations, character roles are spread quite randomly between two voice actors and results are quite... awkward.
  • Doc McStuffins: Penny's baby possums Pip, Flip, and Trip are all three voiced by one girl, Caitlyn Leone.
  • In her very first appearance, Daisy Duck, the girlfriend of Donald Duck was originally voiced by the same man as her boyfriend: Clarence Nash. He gave her the same squawking voice as Donald but it was slightly lighter so the two could be told apart.
    • This was somewhat revisited some fifty years later in a TV special called Down and Out With Donald Duck, in which Daisy is voiced by Tony Anselmo, the same voice actor who also voices Donald presently.
  • Dragon Tales: Cassie's younger brother Finn was voiced by Ellen Kennedy. And Lorca was voiced by Lenore Zann.
  • In Duckman, we have Eric Duckman's preteen Siamese twin sons Charles voiced originally by Dana Hill and later by Pat Musick after Hill's passing and Mambo voiced by Elizabeth Daily, and the escaped elderly criminal Agnes Delrooney voiced by Brian Doyle-Murray.
  • Donald's nephews Huey, Louie, and Dewey were voiced by Russi Taylor in DuckTales (1987) and many video games, and by three actresses in Quack Pack — even if there they're teens instead of children. This was averted in DuckTales (2017) however, where all 3 were voiced by seperate adult male actors.
  • Dudley the Dinosaur, the mascot of the American Dental Association, is voiced by a woman in commercials and shorts.
  • In Duncanville, the main character Duncan Harris is a 15-year-old boy voiced by series co-creator Amy Poehler.
  • Parodied in an episode of Eek! The Cat where Eek takes the audience on a behind-the-scenes tour of the show and discovers that he and his girlfriend Annabelle are both voiced by actors of the opposite sex. Eek was actually voiced by Bill Kopp, and Annabelle was voiced by Tawny Kitaen.
  • In the English version of El Chavo Animado, Chavo is voiced by a woman (Mona Marshall). She was already well-known for voicing young boys, especially in anime. Averted in the original Mexican Spanish dub, where he's voiced by the male Jesus Guzman.
  • In El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, Alanna Ubach voices Manny.
  • Face's Music Party: Face, who has no defined gender, is voiced by the male Cedric L. Williams.
  • Tara Strong voices Timmy Turner of The Fairly Oddparents, Omi of Xiaolin Showdown, and Ben Tennyson of Ben 10, among many others.
    • After the Time Skip of Ben 10, it's averted with an adult male actor providing 15-year-old Ben's voice (Yuri Lowenthal, b. 1971, who seems to voice a lot of adolescent boys).
  • F is for Family:
    • Haley Reinhart voices Bill Murphy, the kid version of the show's star and creator Bill Burr, who's not voiced by the man himself for obvious reasons.
    • Debi Derryberry as Phillip Bonfiglio, Kenny, and Scott Ichikawa.
    • Mo Collins (the same one who was a long-running cast member on the FOX sketch show MADtv) as Jimmy Fitzsimmons (who is older than all the other examples on the show), Ben, and Lex.
  • Family Guy has Mike Henry voicing Consuela.
  • Chum Chum of Fanboy and Chum Chum, as well as Adam Lyon from My Gym Partner's a Monkey, are voiced by Nika Futterman.
  • MacDuff from Fantomcat is voiced by Kate Harbour, using the same voice she used for Snoot Corncracker in Oakie Doke.
  • Fireman Sam:
    • In Series 1-4, due to have only one actor narrating and doing all the voices, this means that Dilys, Bella, Sarah, and Penny are all voiced by a man, John Alderton.
    • In Series 4, Dilys (female) is voiced by John Sparkes (male), while James (male) is voiced by Joanna Ruiz (female).
    • Averted as of Series 6; from this series onwards, every character is voiced by an actor of their same gender.
  • In the For Better or for Worse TV specials of the 90's the toddler April Patterson was voiced by a boy.
  • For the U.S. dub of Forty Four Cats, most of the male cats were voiced by female actresses.
  • Averted with Mac from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, who had been consistently voiced by Sean Marquette throughout the series' run, although it's played straight in various foreign dubs of the show including the Hebrew and Japanese versions.
  • Franklin:
  • Futurama: Kath Soucie is the voice of Cubert Farnsworth while Tress MacNeille voices Tinny Tim. On the less common men-voicing-women side, hippie feminist Frida Waterfall was voiced by Phil Hendrie (as Phil had voiced all the previous members of the Waterfall family, who were male) while Maurice LaMarche voices the Gonky Fembot Crushinator. Averted whenever the Planet Express Crew are seen as children as the male members still retain the same voice actors. Likewise, Hermes' son Dwight (who's the same age as Cubert) is voiced by a man.
  • Future-Worm! has some notable examples:
  • Desirée Goyette voices Nermal the Cat in Garfield and Friends, with a rather androgynous voice. Justified in that Nermal is the self-proclaimed "cutest kitten in the whole wide world" and a foil to Garfield.
    • Though this has led to many kids believing Nermal actually was a girl.
    • Also, if you pitch down the voice of Aloysius Pig's mother to −12 percent, you can clearly hear a male voice. The voice in question? That of Kevin Meaney, who plays Aloysius himself. It is ironic to note that he would later go on to voice Widow Hutchiston.
  • In The Get Along Gang, Zipper Cat is voiced by the female Robbie Lee.
  • In Goof Troop, all the characters are voiced by actors from the same gender, except Max who is voiced by Dana Hill (from National Lampoon's Vacation and Duckman). Additionally, in the episode "Calling All Goofs", Goofy's Aunt Goofilla is voiced by Bill Farmer who is basically Goofy doing a falsetto.
  • Gravity Falls:
  • The three major examples of this on The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy are Nergal Jr. (Debi Derryberry), Pud'n' (Jane Carr), and Irwin (Vanessa Marshall). Oddly averted with most other kids. Also, in the not-as-common males voicing females, Phil LaMarr voices Irwin's grandma.
  • Hanazuki: Full of Treasures has a baby boy named Little Dreamer voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey. The Hemkas that she, Jessica DiCicco, and Cassandra Lee Morris voice are all male.
  • In Handy Manny, Stretch and Flicker were voiced by women. Stretch was voiced by Nika Futterman who also does the voice of Squeeze and a young Manny, and Flicker was voiced by Grey DeLisle.
  • Harley Quinn (2019) has a few examples.
  • On Harvey Beaks, Harvey's friend Princess is voiced by production artist Andres Salaff, who doesn't even bother to try sounding like a girl, instead giving her a gruff, masculine voice. Additionally, another of Harvey's friends, Kathy, and Randl's unnamed mother are both voiced by men, specifically series producer Nick Sumida.
  • In Hazbin Hotel, 666 News anchor Katie Killjoy is voiced by Brandon Rogers.
  • He-Man's cousin Jeremy is voiced by Erika Scheimer.
  • Henry Hugglemonster has all the young boys voiced by adult women, including Lara Jill Miller as the title character.
  • On Hero Elementary, Benny Bubbles is voiced by Stacey DePass while Amazing Memory Kid is voiced by Stephany Seki.
  • Tress MacNeille also provided the voice of Toast (a teenage boy) on Histeria! (using the same voice she uses for Dolph the bully on The Simpsons), where she also voiced Pepper Mills and Susanna Susquahanna.
    • There was also the nun Sister Windbag (she appeared on the Histeria! segments centered on famous art, such as one where she's a museum tour guide and Lydia Karaoke interrupts so she can cover the nude paintings, as nudity isn't allowed on kids' TV) voiced by Frank Welker.
  • Hobby Kids Adventures has Hobby Bear voiced by Cristina Milizia.
  • An early episode of Home Movies, "I Don’t Do Well in Parent-Teacher Conferences", features a female babysitter with an obviously male voice (Sam Brown).
  • Despite being a male character, Hoppity Hooper is voiced by a woman, Chris Allen.
  • Hotel Transylvania: The Series provides a rare man-voicing-a-woman example in Mavis' Aunt Lydia, who is voiced by Canadian stage actor Dan Chameroy. This actually isn't quite as strange when you consider that Chameroy had starred as Agatha Trunchbull in the North American tour of Matilda around the same time he was cast as Lydia.
  • Eight-year-old Ba Nee's singing voice in the Jem song "A Father Should Be" was done by the male Ari Gold, whose voice hadn't broken at the time.
  • In the Johnny Bravo episode where Tia Carrere guest starred as herself, she also voiced a little boy nicknamed Little Jerry.
  • The titular Julius Jr. was voiced by Elizabeth Daily, who also does the voice of Tommy Pickles from Rugrats.
  • In Jumanji: The Animated Series, Peter is voiced by Ashley Johnson.
  • Justice League Action has a few examples:
    • Tara Strong, Paula Rhodes, and Erica Lutrell voice kid Batman, kid John Constantine, and kid Dr. Fate in the episode "Trick Or Threat".
    • "Supernatural Adventures In Babysitting" had Stargirl babysitting a little boy named Timmy. Natalie Lander, who voices Stargirl, also voices Timmy.
    • In "Nuclear Family Values", Melissa Disney voiced the young boy named Brat.
    • Subverted with Granny Goodness, who's voiced by an actual woman, Cloris Leachman.
  • Kaeloo, a young female frog is voiced by a man in every dub of the show (except for Polish). In the English dub, she's voiced by Doug Rand, who also voices Stumpy and Quack Quack.
  • Pamela Adlon voiced Bobby Hill of King of the Hill.
    • She has also voiced young Baloo on Jungle Cubs and Lucky in 101 Dalmatians: The Series — the former sounding quite a bit closer to Bobby Hill's actual age.
    • And Otto on Time Squad.
    • Played straight, then subverted with Joseph Gribble. From season one to the early half of season 5, Joseph Gribble was voiced by Brittany Murphy (who also voiced Luanne Platter). From the middle of season five to the show's end, Joseph Gribble was voiced by Breckin Meyer (who was 26 when he first voiced the character and a man). The voice change was written off as Joseph going through puberty, according to the episode "I Don't Wanna Wait for Our Lives to Be Over".
  • Lady Lovely Locks: In a rarity for an 80s girl's cartoon (actually a lot of cartoons in general with some exceptions), the title character was actually voiced by a boy, Tony St. Vincent, whose voice hadn't broken yet at the time.
  • Lil' Kim Jong Il from Lil' Bush was voiced by a woman, Diane Hsu.
  • Little Bear was voiced by Kristin Fairlie, known for voicing a surfer girl on a certain animated reality show spoof...
  • In Hanna-Barbera's version of The Little Rascals, Julie Dees and B. J. Ward had five boy roles between them. Julie played Alfalfa, Porky and Woim, while B.J. played Butch and Waldo.
  • Michael Caloz did the voice of Annie Inch for the first two seasons of The Little Lulu Show.
  • The Looney Tunes cartoons used two female voice actors, Bea Benederet and June Foray, for most female speaking roles (such as Miss Prissy and Granny). Penelope Pussycat's mewing and purring sound effects, meanwhile, were provided by Mel Blanc and, later on, Frank Welker. In Penelope's case, the major aversion occurred in Carrotblanca, where her proper speaking role was done by Tress MacNeille.
    • In Space Jam, the Nerdlucks, despite being male, were all voiced by women.
    • In the short "The Blow Out", the Mad Bomber villain, despite being male, was voiced by a woman (Lucille La Verne, a.k.a. the wicked queen/witch from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs).
    • Sniffles the mouse is voiced by three female voice actors throughout all of Chuck Jones' Sniffles shorts: Gay Seabrook, Bernice Hansen, and Sara Berner. Bernice herself also voiced the three squirrels in the 1939 Jones short "Robin Hood Makes Good".
  • The Loud House has Chad, Zach, and Liam being voiced by adult women even though they are male.
    • In "One of the Boys", which genderbends the Loud siblings, the four eldest brothers are voiced by men, while the rest are voiced by the same people who voice their counterparts: Jessica DiCicco (Lynn and Lucy) as Boy Lynn and Lars, Grey DeLisle (Lana, Lola, and Lily) as Leif, Lexx, and Leon, Lara Jill Miller (Lisa) as Levi, and Collin Dean (Lincoln) as Linka.
    • In "Everybody Loves Leni", Sebastian is voiced by Romi Dames.

    • Shapey is voiced by creator Dino Stamatopoulos's daughter, Tigger Stamatopoulos.
  • Mr. Bogus gives us Tommy Anybody and Brattus, with the former voiced by Jeannie Elias and the latter voiced by Russi Taylor.
  • In Muppet Babies (1984), Skeeter, the twin sister of Scooter, was voiced by Howie Mandel (with the same voice he uses for Bobby and Gizmo). More conventionally, Russi Taylor (better known as the modern voice of Minnie Mouse) voiced Gonzo, and Katie Leigh voiced Rowlf. When a toddler version of Janice appeared in one episode, Dave Coulier did her voice (very much like Richard Hunt performing the adult Janice.)
    • Howie Mandel was later replaced by Frank Welker for Skeeter (Welker had already been voicing Kermit and Beaker), and Dave Coulier for Animal.
    • In a rare aversion for a Muppet series, Baby Miss Piggy was actually voiced by a woman (Laurie O'Brien), compared to the adult Miss Piggy typically being performed by a male (like Frank Oz).

  • My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic has Spike, a baby male dragon apprentice, voiced by Cathy Weseluck.
    • This is not the first time she has voiced a male character, extraordinarily well at that, given her uncanny ability to mimic the voice of a boy.
    • She also voiced Fij Fij on Maryoku Yummy.
    • Spike is voiced by a woman in most languages except Brazilian Portuguese, German, Hungarian, Czech (Season 4), Canadian French (the movie), Russian (the movie), Croatian (HRT), and Arabic.
    • In "Rainbow Falls", Rainbowshine, a mare, is voiced by Trevor Devall.

  • In Nerds and Monsters, Dudley is voiced by Tabitha St. Germain and Durn by Michael Adamthwaite.
  • In most incarnations of the Noddy franchise, the titular character is voiced by a woman (with Susan Sheridan being the most memorable) with the exception of Make Way For Noddy and Noddy, Toyland Detective where he's voiced by young boys in American/Canada and British dubs. In France, Noddy has always been voiced by Brigitte Lecordier, who is known for voicing young boys.
  • Oh Yeah! Cartoons

  • PB&J Otter: Pinch Raccoon (who is a girl) was voiced by Cody Pennes.

  • Robot Chicken:
  • In a few episodes of Rocko's Modern Life, in addition to Charlie Adler voicing Bev Bighead and Gladys the Hippo Lady, Tom Kenny provided a few female voices, mainly incidental characters, such as Joyce (Heffer's stepmom on the episode "Who's for Dinner"), Al (a female salamander in the episode "Dear John") and a female member of a sausage cult (a monkey in the episode "Schnit-Heads").
    • Widow Hutchison was voiced by Kevin Meaney.
    • In-universe example in "Wacky Deli" with Rocko providing the voice of a female slab of bologna.
  • June Foray is the voice of Rocky the Flying Squirrel; in fact, Rocky's voice is closer to Foray's natural voice than the main female character (Natasha) she also voices, who has a heavy pseudo-Russian accent. She is also the voice of Jokey Smurf in The Smurfs while Brenda Vaccaro is the voice of Gargamel's apprentice Scruple.
  • RollBots: Tinny is voiced by the female Tabitha St. Germain.
  • Except for Chuckie, all the Rugrats retained their same voice actress from their first episode all the way to the Spin-Off, spanning more than 10 years for most of the cast. The same voice actresses even remained for their older counterparts in All Grown Up!, having to somewhat struggle to alter their voices.

Cartwright in fact does the voices many of the boys at Springfield Elementary (Bart, Nelson, Ralph, Kearney, Louis, and Todd Flanders). Springfield Elementary isn't very big; the other half are voiced by Pamela Hayden (she voices Milhouse van Houten and Jimbo Jones) and some by Tress MacNeille (she voices Dolph and Cosine). Lampshaded in a chalkboard gag when Bart repeatedly writes, "I am not a 32-year-old woman". (Cartwright was 32-years-old when The Simpsons went on the air.)
    • Additionally, Russi Taylor (later Grey DeLisle after Taylor's death) voiced Martin Prince, Uter, and a few other young boys.
    • An in-universe example: in the Season 8 episode, "The Itchy and Scratchy and Poochie Show", Homer is amazed that Itchy and Scratchy are voiced by a voice actress named June Bellamy (voiced by Tress MacNeille, though Dan Castellaneta and Harry Shearer provided the voices for Itchy and Scratchy when she demonstrated to Homer that she is the voice of the two characters).
    • In "A Streetcar Named Marge", Jon Lovitz voices Mr. AND Mrs. Sinclair. Usually on the series a male may voice a female character as a gag of some sort, particularly if the female resembles one of the main/recurring male character. Examples include in "Brother From the Same Planet", where Bart sees what he thinks is Homer approaching, but is actually a woman that resembles Homer (complete with beard) singing "I Am Woman"; "Simpsons Tide" when Barney Gumble's mother can be seen (resembling Barney in drag, complete with same belch); and "The Regina Monologues" when Homer meets his British half-sister Abbie, whom looks and acts very similar to Homer. All three of these unusual ladies were voiced by Dan Castellaneta, the voices of Homer and Barney.
    • As of The Simpsons S35E3 - "McMansion & Wife", Rosalie Chiang ("Meilin Lee" from Turning Red) takes over from Tress MacNeille as Hubert Wong.
  • Jules de Jongh, a woman, voiced Skunk on Skunk Fu!.
  • On Sofia the First, baby James is voiced by Julie Dolan due to Zach Callison hitting puberty.
  • Sonia from Sonic Underground was voiced by Jaleel White, who also voiced Sonic and Manic. And it really shows, considering that Sonia sounds like a squeakier Steve Urkel.
  • In South Park, Ms. Choksondik was voiced by Trey Parker. In fact, there are a handful of female characters not voiced by Mary Kay Bergman (or any of her replacements following her suicide) that are voiced by Trey Parker. The sole male character voiced by a woman is the unnamed leader of the sixth graders.
  • In seasons 2 and 3 of SpongeBob SquarePants, Mr. Krabs' mother was voiced by a man, writer Paul Tibbit. In the seasons after the first movie, Sirena Irwin now voices Mrs. Krabs.
  • In Spunky and Tadpole, a 1958 serialized cartoon with a boy and a dimwitted bear, Spunky (the boy) was voiced by Joan Gardner.
  • The titular character of Stanley is a little boy voiced by Jessica D. Stonenote , who was only a pre-teen when she landed the role back in 2001.
  • Steven Universe:
    • A weird example in "Lars of the Stars"; drag queen Jinkx Monsoon, who later came out as non-binary, voices Emerald.
    • While she's female (or at least female-presenting) like all other Gems, Snowflake Obsidian is voiced by Ian Jones-Quartey in "Guidance".
  • Summer Memories: 11-year-old male protagonist Jason is voiced by the female Tricia Black.
  • In an unusual male example, Granny Goodness on Superman: The Animated Series was voiced by Ed Asner.
  • Sym-Bionic Titan: The alien Xeexi, who is a male, is voiced by Vanessa Marshall (the voice of Irwin on The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy). This is averted with Lance and the boys from his boarding school in the Whole Episode Flashback though (child actors).
  • This occurred regularly from Seasons 1-12 of Thomas & Friends when all of the characters were voiced by one narrator.
    • Dowager Hatt is voiced by Keith Wickham. Averted in the foreign languages as she voiced by actual women.
    • Also Stephen and Bridget Hatt are both voiced by Teresa Gallagher.
    • In the Japanese version, Thomas, Percy, Bill and Ben are all voiced by women.
  • In Disney's The Three Little Pigs, Fifer and Fiddler Pig are both voiced by women.
  • In the Timon & Pumbaa episode "Home Is Where the Hog Is", we have the leader of Pumbaa's former warthog tribe, a female warthog named Sharla, voiced by Billy West.
  • The second lead character in Toot and Puddle was voiced by a woman, Samantha Reynolds (who also voiced Ikki Tenryou in the Medabots anime).
  • In the Italian dub of Transformers: Animated, all the Starscream clones are voiced by the same man. Even the one that's a girl.
  • Trulli Tales: Ring is voiced by Eleanor Noble and Zip is voiced by Sonja Ball.
  • Continuing the trend from Homestar Runner, all of the women on Two More Eggs are voiced by Matt Chapman, sometimes with pitch-shifting involved.
  • The Venture Bros.:
    • Doctor Girlfriend is voiced by co-creator Doc Hammer, to sound like a deep-voiced man from Brooklyn. In fact, he uses uses a much deeper voice than normal to voice her. Hilarity ensues when The Monarch tries to get a regular non-male-voiced hooker to do Dr. Girlfriend's voice. "LOWER AND DEEPER!"
    • Doc Hammer also voices a lispy old woman who almost doesn't even sound like she has a male voice actor at all. The show's other creator Jackson Publick has voiced a few female characters too, mostly for small parts which they didn't want to cast someone for, including a trio of very soft-spoken prostitutes who barely say anything, and a tall strapping young woman who initially appears to be a guy (and gets a female voice actor for the next season).
  • In Voltron: Legendary Defender, the male Pidge is being voiced by the non-binary Bex Taylor-Klaus. This is subverted, however, when it is revealed that Pidge is a girl pulling a Sweet Polly Oliver. Pidge's real name is Katie Holt.
  • On Wacky Races (2017), IQ Ickly is voiced by Jill Talley.
  • We Bare Bears has a minor character named Jorge voiced by Myrna Velasco.
  • The titular character of Widget the World Watcher was voiced by a woman: Russi Taylor.
  • Wonder Pets! has Tuck. a green male turtle, voiced by Teala Dunn.
  • Unusually for an adult male character, Woody Woodpecker from 1950 to around 1991 was voiced by a woman (Grace Stafford Lantz), but previously he had been voiced by Mel Blanc, Kent Rogers, and Ben Hardaway. Woody has later been voiced by Billy West and Eric Bauza.
    • There's also quite the story behind this. Grace Stafford Lantz was an actress as well as the second wife of Woody's creator Walter Lantz, and when he was about to hold anonymous auditions to cast a new voice actor for Woody, she offered to voice him but he refused. Unfazed, Grace Stafford secretly recorded an audition tape and sent it to the studio. Not knowing who the voice belonging to, her tape was chosen among all the others — by Walter Lantz himself.
    • There's also his nephew Knothead, voiced by June Foray in the original shorts, and later by Elizabeth Daily.
  • Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!: Wubbzy (who is a boy) was voiced by Grey DeLisle. She also voices Puppycorn on Unikitty!
