- In the Polish & Russian dubs of Adventure Time, Cake (the gender-bent version of Jake) is voiced by a man in her first appearance. Not only that, but in both dubs, Cake is referred to as a guy.
- In some languages (European Spanish, French, Japanese and Greek), Finn is voiced by a woman.
- A bizarre, Double Subversion case in the Japanese dub of Aladdin, as the Genie is voiced by Kōichi Yamadera, but is still a character who can change his appearance and his voice. Akira Kamiya (who played Iago) recalls hearing Yamadera recording a moment when the Genie becomes a female character, and actually believing it was a woman's voice.
- Some dubs such as the French, Russian, Swedish, and Danish dubs the Dormouse from Alice in Wonderland is voiced by a woman.
- Alvin and the Chipmunks (original series):
- In the Japanese dub of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore were all voiced by women, this was probably done so they didn't have to pitch-shift the voices.
- In the Italian dub, they are also all voiced by women.
- In The Amazing World of Gumball, Miss Simian, Tina Rex, Coach Russo and Sussie (Seasons 2-4) are all women voiced by men.
- In the Hungarian dub, Miss Simian had a male voice actor in Season 1, who was replaced by a woman in Season 2. Leslie the flower was also originally voiced by a woman in Season 1 and a man in Season 2, making it sound like he had changed genders.
- In the Brazilian dub, Anton was voiced by a man in Season 1, but since Season 3 he is voiced by a woman.
- In the Japanese dub, Gumball and Darwin are voiced by Junko Takeuchi and Yumiko Kobayashi, respectively. They're also played by women in the Greek dub.
- Gumball is played by Isabel Martiñón in the Latin American Spanish dub (though a male child actor voiced him in the first few episodes), and Sophie Pyronnet in the French dub as of Season 5. Also in the French dub, Marie-Line Landerwijn voices Darwin as of "The Heist".
- In the Japanese dub of An American Tail, this is averted with Fievel by having him voiced by a male child actor for the first two films (including Daisuke Namikawa in the first), but played straight with the direct-to-video sequels, which had Fievel voiced by Ikue Otani.
- In the Japanese and Korean dubs of Amphibia, Sprig is voiced by a woman.
- In the Latin Spanish dub of Animaniacs, Wakko is voiced by a woman, Giset Blanco, who is rather inconsistent with his voice: sometimes, it's low and hoarse; other times, it's nasally; still other times, it's very high pitched.
- Aang was voiced by a woman in the Russian dub of Avatar: The Last Airbender, in direct contrast to the original, which averted this trope. Bizarrely, the voice actress later went on to voice Korra in competing dubs of The Legend of Korra.
- In the Spanish dub of Beany and Cecil Beany was voiced by a woman.
- The Danish dub of Charlotte's Web has Wilbur voiced by a woman. In the same dub, the young cow during "We've Got Lots in Common" is voiced by a man, unlike the English version, where the character was voiced by a woman.
- The titular character of Chicken Little is voiced by a woman in the Japanese dub.
- In an interesting reversal of the usual case, in the Japanese dub of Codename: Kids Next Door, Numbuh Five is voiced by a man.
- In the Korean dub, Numbuh Two and Numbuh Four are voiced by women.
- Dexter's Laboratory: In the Italian dub, both Dexter and Mandark are voiced by women (Federica Valenti and Cinzia Massironi, respectively).
- In the Japanese dub of Donkey Kong Country, Diddy Kong is voiced by none other than Megumi Hayashibara (a.k.a Rei Ayanami).
- The Japanese dub of Doug has the title character played by a woman (Masako Nozawa, of Dragon Ball fame). This could be because of his high-pitched voice in the Nickelodeon series (the Disney series never made it to Japan).
- Ed, Edd n Eddy: Edd is voiced by a woman, Vibeke Dueholm, in the Danish dub.
- In the Japanese dub, Jimmy and Jonny 2x4 were voiced by women.
- In the Mexican dub, Jonny was voiced by a woman.
- Jimmy was also voiced by a woman in one of the Polish dubs.
- In the Italian dub, Jonny is voiced by a woman.
- Wicket and Teebo are both voiced by women (Naomi Nagasawa and Ayumi Kida, respectively) in the Japanese dub of Ewoks.
- The same goes in the first Latin American Spanish dub, who were voiced by Rocío Prado and Araceli de León respectively.
- In the Japanese dub of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Mac is voiced by a woman (Makoto Tsumura, who also voiced Astro Boy).
- He also has a female voice in French, Italian and Danish.
- The Latin Spanish dub of Franklin had the titular character voiced by a girl (Gaby Ugarte) for the first five seasons and the first two movies, and then by a woman (Melanie Henríquez) for Season 6 and the third movie.
- In the German dub of Futurama one of Nibbler's speaking voices was done by a woman.
- In the Japanese dub of Goof Troop and A Goofy Movie P.J. Pete was voiced by a woman. However, a man voiced him in An Extremely Goofy Movie.
- In the Russian dub of Gravity Falls, Li'l Gideon is voiced by a woman, who also voiced other female characters in the dub.
- In the Polish dub of The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy Sperg and Nigel Planter were voiced by women in their earliest appearances.
- Crash (Naomi Nagasawa) and Eddie (Mai Katagiri) of Ice Age were voiced by women in the Japanese dub.
- The Japanese dub of Invader Zim has Zim, Dib and GIR voiced by women (respectively, Nao Nagasawa, Ayumi Kida and Wasabi Mizuta).
- Zim is also voiced by a woman in the Mexican Spanish and Korean dubs; and GIR in the European Spanish, German, Korean and Italian dubs.
- Elroy Jetson was voiced by a woman in the Japanese dub of The Jetsons.
- In Japanese and Latin Spanish, Carl Wheezer from Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius is voiced by a woman.
- In the original 1968 Finnish dub of The Jungle Book, Bagheera was voiced by a woman. The same dub had Mowgli voiced by a girl.
- In the Latin Spanish dub, Mowgli also had a female voice actress.
- In the Greek dub of The Koala Brothers, Buster and Ned are both voiced by women (Katerina Gkirgkis and Chrisoula Papadopoulou, respectively).
- This is at first averted with Littlefoot in the Japanese dub of the first The Land Before Time movie, where he is voiced by a male child actor, but then played straight in the sequels and the redub of the first film, where he is voiced by Minami Takayama.
- Similarly, in Latin Spanish, Littlefoot had a male voice actor in the first movie. He was replaced by Elsa Covián for the rest of the franchise, as the dub moved from L.A. to Mexico.
- Chomper is voiced by Ikue Otani in the Japanese dub of the fifth film.
- In the German dub of the first two movies, Ducky was voiced by a boy (the same one who voiced Fievel in An American Tail, Tobias Thoma). Beginning in VIII, Littlefoot is voiced by Rubina Nath.
- The Little Mermaid (1989):
- In the Latin American Spanish dub, Ursula was voiced by drag queen Serena Olvido.
- The Arabic dub had Ursula's singing voice done by a man.
- Most foreign dubs of Looney Tunes have Tweety voiced by a woman.
- Tweety, Sylvester Jr. and Henery Hawk are all voiced by women in the Japanese dub, probably to emphasize the fact that they are all children.
- Some foreign dubs of The Loud House have Lincoln and Clyde voiced by women.
- The original Latin Spanish featurette dubs of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, had Christopher Robin voiced by Diana Santos (who was also the Latin Spanish voice of Mowgli from The Jungle Book).
- The first Greek dubs of the films also had a woman play him.
- In some languages, Piglet and Roo were voiced by female voice actresses.
- Rabbit was voiced by a woman in the first German dub.
- In some early Japanese dubs of the classic Mickey Mouse shorts, Mickey was voiced by a woman (including Masumi Goto, Ikue Sakakibara and Eiko Yamada), but recent versions have him voiced by a man (Takashi Aoyagi).
- Brazilian voice actress Angélica Santos started her career with a boy, Jimmy Five of Monica's Gang, and for a while only did young males such as Kevin from The Wonder Years before she started dubbing over girls and women.
- In the Hungarian dub of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Derpy Hooves, Photo Finish, and Babs Seed are all voiced by the same man.
- Pipsqueak was voiced by Akiko Yajima in the Japanese dub, and the voice grunts that Featherweight makes in the Japanese version were provided by Rainbow Dash's voice actress, Izumi Kitta.
- In the Russian dub of The Nightmare Before Christmas, Shock is voiced by a man, this is because they were voiced by a rock band.
- In nearly all foreign dubs of PAW Patrol, Ryder and the male pups are voiced by adult women. This results in such instances as Megumi Han as Ryder and Shizuka Ishigami as Chase in Japanese, Diana Torres as Marshall in Latin American Spanish, and Céline Ronté as Rubble in French, among many others.
- In the Japanese version of PB&J Otter, Flick and Munchy were voiced by women, who conversely sounded more masculine in the English version.
- The Penguins of Madagascar
- In the Russian dub, Mort is voiced by a woman named Maria Ovchinnikova.
- In a Korean TV dub of Madagascar, a woman (Yu Ji-won) provided Mort's voice.
- In the Serbian dub, Mort is also voiced by a female actress, and so are Eggy and Dale the snail.
- The original Japanese dub of Peter Pan had the title character voiced by a woman (Masumi Goto), but is now voiced by a male (Mitsuo Iwata).

- In the Hebrew and Turkish dubs, Phineas is voiced by a woman.
- In the Japanese dub of Playmobil: The Movie, Charlie is voiced by Inori Minase.

- Rocko was voiced by a woman, actress Cláudia Cadima in the European Portuguese dub until Static Cling where he got a male voice actor.
- In the Greek dub, Heffer is voiced by a woman.
- The Simpsons
- The Czech dub has Marge voiced by Jiří Lábus, who's a man. Though, this is averted with Bart, who's voiced by Martin Dejdar.
- In the Italian dub, it's averted with Milhouse, Nelson, Jimbo, Dolph and Kearney, who are all voiced by men (unlike their original American English counterparts), but played straight with Bart, Ralph, Rod, Todd and Martin, who are voiced by women like in the original dub.
- In the original Arabic dub for The Smurfs, Vanity, Clumsy, Jokey, Poet, and Painter Smurf were voiced by women.
- The French dub has Sassette voiced by a man.
- In the Dutch dub, Lazy, Clumsy, and Poet are not only voiced by a woman, but they are all dubbed by the same female actress (Corry van der Linden), who also voiced Smurfette and Baby Smurf.
- The Italian dub has Grouchy, Hefty, Snappy, and Nat voiced by women. Other characters, like Clumsy, Jokey, Greedy, Lazy, Painter, and Harmony were originally voiced by women as well, but they were later replaced by male voice actors. Azrael is also voiced by a woman, but it's a female cat in the Italian dub.
- In the Greek version, Brainy is voiced by a woman.
- For the 1979 European Spanish dubbing of The Smurfs and the Magic Flute, all of the Smurfs (except for Farmer, Grouchy, and Hefty) are voiced by women.
- The Japanese dubs of South Park have Eric Cartman voiced by women (LiLiCo in the WOWOW dub of Seasons 1-7, Kimiko Saito in the Fox dub of Season 8), except for the dub of the movie. Stan, Kyle, and Kenny were voiced by women in the aforementioned dub of Bigger, Longer and Uncut, but this trope was averted for them with both dubs of the TV series.
- The dub aired on WOWOW also had Butters, Kevin Stoley, Kenny's brother Kevin, and Dog Poo voiced by Noriko Suzuki, who also voiced a majority of the women in that version.
- Likewise, the Italian dub currently has Francesca Vettori as the voice of Cartman.
- In European Spanish, all the boys (except the male goths) are voiced by women. Averted in the movie, where they had male voice actors.
- During the first few seasons, Kenny was left undubbed because of his muffled voice being almost incomprehensible. Later seasons started dubbing him and he is voiced by Sara Vivas, who also voices Kyle.
- A few of the foreign dubs note have Butters voiced by a woman, and Kenny is voiced by a woman in the German and Ukrainian dubs.
- Ike is voiced by a woman in most foreign dubs note to avoid having to continuously recast child actors, although some of the children that voiced Ike in the original happened to be little girls (at first BVI usually avoided dubbing over his voice at first, but later played to this trope).
- In some languages (Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, the current Italian dub, the original Polish dub, and both Ukrainian dubs), Kyle is voiced by a woman. In Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and the Ukraine [Postmodern], he and Cartman have the same voice actresses: respectively Vivian Ruiz (later Patricia Azan), Marta Rhaulin (later Carla Cardoso), and Anna Levchenko.
- Jimmy has been voiced by women in the Latin American dub note , with his current actress being Arianna Lopez (who also voiced Wendy and other female characters). Lopez has since taken the role of Timmy in Season 16. Meanwhile, Tweek was voiced by Patricia Azan for Seasons 3-9, and then by Jackeline Junguito for the remainder of BVI's dubbing (save for "Eat, Pray, Queef" where a male actor filled in).
- Of all characters, the show's version of Saddam Hussein was dubbed by Vivian Ruiz in the original BVI season 2.
- Pip was voiced by a woman in the short-lived Audiomaster 3000 dub aired in Mexico, though this trope was averted in the BVI/Kitchen Inc. dub.
- In the Brazilian dub, the main boys (except for Kenny) are voiced by women. Marta Rhaulin (later Carla Cardoso) continues the theme of Kyle and Cartman sharing a voice actress, doing a somewhat good job with the latter but sounding very feminine with the former. Inverted in the movie (probably because of a different dub location, Rio de Janeiro rather than Miami), where Stan, Kyle and Cartman had male actors, while Kenny was voiced by Marisa Leal.
- In the French dub of Bigger, Longer & Uncut, Kenny's muffled voice was done by William Coryn (as in the series)... but when he removes his hood, Kenny's voiced by Marie-Laure Beneston (Wendy, Ike, Pip, all the women).
- SpongeBob SquarePants
- In the Japanese dub, Patrick and Plankton are voiced by women who sound nothing like their originals
. Plankton has a very cutesy voice despite being very small and irritable. In the dub of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, both characters are voiced by men.- As of Season 9 and Sponge Out of Water, Patrick is voiced by a male voice actor (Mitsuaki Kanuka).
- In some foreign dubs (the Serbian dub's B92 era to name one), the titular character is voiced by a woman, in the B92 Serbian dub's case, it's the actress Vladislava Đorđević. That dub is also notable for Mr. Krabs being played by Đorđević, in addition to her voicing every single female character while also making them all sound completely different to one another. Truly a woman of many voices.
- In the Dutch dub, Sander de Heer (who is also the Dutch voice of Mr. Krabs) voices Betsy Krabs.
- In the Japanese dub, Patrick and Plankton are voiced by women who sound nothing like their originals
- Bizarrely, the Greek dub of Star vs. the Forces of Evil has Tom voiced by a woman for no apparent reason.
- Subverted in the Japanese dub of Steven Universe. Garnet sounds like she's voiced by a man, when her voice actress is just a deep-voiced woman. Played straight (with the same voice actor, no less!) with Peedee.
- Steven has a female voice in Spanish, French, European Portuguese, and Korean.
- In the Russian dub, Alexandrite's second voice was Dmitry Filimonov, in the dub of "Super Watermelon Island".
- In the Hebrew and Italian dubs of Taz-Mania Francis X Bushlad was voiced by women.
- In the Japanese dub of Thomas & Friends, Thomas and Percy are voiced by women, presumably to make them sound younger and cuter.
- In the Japanese dub of Thumbelina Miss Fieldmouse was voiced by a man, Yūji Mitsuya.
- In the German dub of Tiny Toon Adventures Sweetie Pie was voiced by a man named Santiago Ziesmer.
- Montana Max has been voiced by women in the Japanese, Spanish, and Italian dubs.
- Buster Bunny was voiced by a woman in the Korean dub.
- The duckling in Tom and Jerry is voiced by a woman in the Japanese dub, unlike the English version where he was voiced by a man.
- The same goes for Jerry's cousin Muscles who had a deep gruff voice in the original English version.
- The Spanish dub of Total Drama had two instances where a male was voiced by a female voice actress.
- In The Ridonculous Race, Dwayne Junior was voiced by Sofia Narvaez.
- For Total DramaRama, Cody is now voiced by Angie Mallo.
- In the Japanese dub of UglyDolls, Lucky Bat is voiced by a woman (Akiko Nakagawa), presumably to give him a more cute, childish voice.
- In the Japanese dub of Watership Down, Fiver and Pipkin were voiced by women, presumably to make them sound cuter.
- In the common Portuguese dub of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Baby Herman had a female voice as a child (Ana Lucia Menezes) and a male adult voice (Hercules Fernando).
- In the Norwegian dub of Wide-Eye, Mother Natterjack is voiced by a man.
- In The New Woody Woodpecker Show, Woody was voiced by women in Japanese (Kumiko Watanabe, who even sang the theme song), and Italian (Elisabetta Cesone).
- In Yin Yang Yo!, Yang is voiced by a woman in Japanese (Naomi Nagasawa) and French (Marie-Laure Beneston; better known for the aforementioned South Park).
- In Ninjago, in one of the stranger cases, Cole is voiced by a woman in Japanese despite ironically being more of a "masculine" character. Furthermore, while the other languages changed Lloyd's voice to a man in Season 8, it remains a woman in Japanese.
- In the Latin American Spanish dub of PB&J Otter, Scootch Raccoon, Munchy Beaver and Flick Duck were voiced by women (Angélica Rodríguez Ovalle, Izmir Flores Sayavedra and Lucero Garza, respectively), while Connie Crane was voiced by a man (Francisco López Montemayor).
