Loona and Octavia

     Octavia

The troubled and lonely teenage daughter of Prince Stolas & Stella, Octavia has spent most of her life dealing with the high expectations set on her by her mother & Hell’s high class society and living in a house were fighting amongst her parents is constant amidst her father’s affair with Blitzo. With little to no solace other than her taxidermy and music, Octavia has turned to her art as a form of venting, drawing upon her increasingly disturbing nightmares for inspiration. That is until she befriends Loona, who gives her a whole new lease on life.

  • Adaptational Badass: Played with. As of the time this has come out, Octavia has yet to show any skill in combat. Here though, through her friendship with Loona, she learns how to handle guns, and even uses one to take out a demonic target chasing Moxxie & Millie in Chapter 9. However, her first experience leaves her quite shaken. And her later experiences even more so.
  • Apocalypse Maiden: She is heavily implied to be this, given her reoccurring dreams, horrific paintings and her bathtub scene in Chapter 16, where she's called the Key to the Empty Night. The Archive chapters reveal that Mother and her cult want use Octavia as a key to open her dimension, allowing her to escape into Hell and the rest of the universe. Octavia's birth circumstances of being the scion of a celestially gifted demon Prince and a cunning Princess while born under just the right convergence of stars and a flash of dying galaxies was how she unfortunately made the cut.
  • Ballet: Octavia has 5 years of Ballet under her belt, which comes in handy during her game of frisbee with Loona's fellow hellhounds, who are physically stronger than her.
Octavia: "Five years of ballet, bitches!"
  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: Is this from Stella's POV, as the strict, politically focused and stubborn princess sees her daughter's openly rebellious and wild attitude as a detriment to their family image and her own reputation. And while she is correct, that Octavia often lets her newfound freedom and friendship get her into situations that might end poorly for her, Octavia ultimately just wants to enjoy herself and her real friends, that she's been denied for so long. And thanks to Character Development, Octavia becomes more mature and careful with her outings and her mother even comes to respect Loona.
  • Break the Cutie: Everyone gets put through the ringer during the middle of the story, but none are as shaken or scared by what they see, as Octavia. After only seen and lived through limited moments of action and horror, having to walk and fight through waves of crazed and bloodthirsty demons, seeing counts sights of death along the way, leaves her completely traumatized. Especially, after seeing an abandoned, bloodied crib in the middle of the streets.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Octavia finally has enough of Stella's disapproval of Loona and their friendship, slapping her and chewing her mother out for how controlling, racist and self-centered she has been towards her.
  • Celibate Hero: Octavia reveals to Loona in Chapter 18, that while she is interested in a romantic relationship at some point, she has no care for sex or getting laid, heavily hinting that she's asexual.
  • Character Development: At the start of the story, Octavia is very anti-social, withdrawn and generally unconcerned with the political games common in the Goetia Court, and to a lesser extent, the lower classes of Hell. But through her friendship with Loona and later some encouragement from Stella, she becomes much more open and caring towards her later friends, starts standing up for herself and during the middle of the story, becomes much more active and focused on politics, wanting to do her part to rebuild and improve conditions for the demons on the lowest end of the food chain, realizing no one else is doing so.
  • Damsel in Distress: This is what's implied to happen to her at the end of Chapter 30, where the Eldritch Abomination returns in her dream, demanding she come to Mother and consumes her, leaving her conscience trapped in a realm with the beast. After her capture by Mother, Octavia spends the latter half of the story as this, being unable to leave Mother's Realm, only capable of sending messages to her friends attempting to get them to help her. She remains in this state until Chapter 57, when the rescue team finally manage to pull her out of Mother's hold.
  • Damsel out of Distress: While she is still stuck in Mother's realm, Octavia has seemingly managed to escape being captured by the eldritch horror or her monsters and is currently on her own. She has no way of returning to Hell on her own, but has managed to reach out to her friends, left clues behind to her location and even survived despite being trapped there for days. Subverted as of Chapter 56, where the rescue party unwittingly led Mother to her and got her recaptured, until she's finally fully freed by the team in Chapter 57.
  • Dance Battler: Octavia incorporates her ballet training, in order the dodge incoming hellhounds and win the frisbee game for her side.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Played with, in regards to Octavia. While she isn't cold to most people, she is still very skeptical and hesitant about befriending Loona, given her long past of fake friends, and seeing it mostly as another way for her dad to get close to Blitzo. As she spends more time with the hellhound however, Octavia soon warms up to her and eventually becomes more amicable towards others.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Octavia, bloodied, dirty, exhausted, emotionally devastated and her beanie gone, walks up to a dragon, having already slain more than enough demons for her liking and tells it to piss out of their way:
"We fought our way through a whole goddamn city. We just killed a squad of ancient trolls. My favorite jacket is ruined and I need a goddamn shower! SO SHUT YOUR GOB AND PISS OFF YOU BIG! SCALY! CUNT!!!"
  • Dream Walker: Travels to her loved ones dreams, to try and get them to help free her, after she's been taken by Mother. We get to see one of these dreams fully in Chapter 41, where she reaches out to Loona for help, before being dragged back by a lovecraftian monster.
  • Friendless Background: Octavia has no real friends in her life, aside from Loona. She only hangs out with her classmates and fellow royals out of obligation, and can't stand them most of the time due to their attitude.
  • Hearing Voices: Throughout the story, Octavia starts hearing voices calling out to her. After Chapter 16, where an entity calls out to her during her bath, encouraging her to join them and calling her the "glorious key to empty night," it's very clear something eldritch is trying to corrupt her.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: To Loona.
  • Improbably Quick Coma Recovery: Subverted. Octavia spends two weeks in a coma, from the toll of being trapped in Mother's realm, becoming sickly thin, having to give up energy to help heal everyone else and the overall stress of it all. When she wakes up, she is too pained to even move her arm, and spends the next weeks in her bed slowly healing along with everyone else. When she's finally allowed out of bed, she spends more time having to walk with crutches and struggling to stand, before she is finally able to move on her own after months of rehabilitation.
  • I Just Want to Be Free: Longs to be free of the pressures, expectations and rules of being a member of the Ars Goetia, simply longing for a fun, good, happy life with Loona as her friend.
  • The Lad-ette: She's implied to already have been this before the start of the story, with her love of taxidermy and other extracurriculars, but really starts to display this attitude after Loona's influence.
  • Like Parent, Unlike Child: Octavia and Stella might as well be night and day. While Stella is mostly politically-minded, cultured, stern and greatly concerned with image and connections, Octavia is disillusioned with the actual political sides of being an Ars Goetia, is more wild, open and carefree than her mother and doesn't seem to give a fuck about what others think of her. Though backstory reveals that in her youth, Stella used to be similarly wild and free as Octavia, and the two do share some hobbies, like horseback riding.
  • Little "No": Gives a short but cold one to Mother after escaping her realm, before effortlessly sealing up her portal.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Up until she meets Loona, Octavia has no friends or close ones to speak of, other than her parents. She only hangs out with some of her classmates at the behest of her mother, but doesn't enjoy their company at all.
  • Only Friend: Loona quickly becomes this to the lonely Octavia.
  • Only Mostly Dead: Believed to be dead in Chapter 31, after her body is found completely lifeless and unmoving. Turns out, here soul was taken by nightmare demons, trapping her in a dark void away from her friends and family, while she desperately tries to reach out to them.
  • Passed in Their Sleep: This is what appears to have happened to her to everyone else in Chapter 31, after she is consumed by her nightmare demon in the end of Chapter 30.
  • Pen Pals: Before Loona, whenever Octavia needed to talk to someone about matters she was nervous to bring up to others, in particular Stella, she would often send letters to Charlie. The two talked about everything from school and music, to familial troubles and future worries, with Charlie being one of the few capable of comforting Via during her more sad times.
  • Plagued by Nightmares: When the stories begins, Octavia has been plagued by numerous horrific, lovecraftian nightmares, that inspire her to draw similar, monstrous drawings based on them. At first, it's unknown if this is caused on by an outside force or a result of her hectic life, but Chapter 30 confirms it's the former, as she is consumed and seemingly killed by it.
  • Politically-Active Princess: At first averted but then played straight. Octavia starts out wanting nothing to do with being a princess, given all the societal expectations and demands put upon her, preferring instead to live a free life with Loona and her friends. But during the middle part of the story, she becomes much more engrossed with the political side of Hell, in rebuilding after the Uproar, and in particular the treatment of the lower class, wanting to make sure they're given the respect and fairness that's been denied them for so long from the other Goetias.
  • Princess Protagonist: Is debatably the main character of the story for most of it, as a lot of the plot is focused on her struggles in fitting in with Ars Goetia society and the strange going ons centered around her.
  • Queer Establishing Moment: While not fully confirmed, she is strongly hinted at being asexual in Chapter 18, as she confesses to Loona that she has never been interested in having sex with anyone.
  • Rebellious Princess: As time goes on and she grows closer to Loona, Octavia starts to become disillusioned with her role as a princess and the expectations put on her by Hell. It is one of the reasons why she and Loona get so well along, as with her, Octavia can truly be herself. Over time, she starts going against Hell's traditions and even stands up to her mother more.
  • Stepford Smiler: Whenever Octavia brings up her home life to Loona, she drops small hints at how rough things are, but always just smiles and tries to act like nothing's wrong. It isn't until Chapter 13, that she finally breaks down in front of her friend and reveals just how terrible things are, after she calls Loona to come for her while her parents fight.
  • Tears of Joy: Octavia lets out a few happy tears in front of Loona in Chapter 15, as she admits this is the happiest and most relaxed she has been in several months.
  • Tomboy Princess: Takes up a lot of tomboy qualities and hobbies thanks to Loona and her gang of hellhounds. Though she's stated to have plenty of those before all that, such as when she showed up to Grogar's party riding on horse back, while wearing her then ruined dress, much to the shock of everyone present.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Played with. While hanging around with Loona has made Octavia more skilled with a gun, she still has trouble using it and when she does, is often left quite shaken from the experience. Even during Chapter 26, she nearly collapses after being forced to kill some maddened citizens of Hell.
  • Trapped in Another World: Her soul is supposedly ripped from her body in Chapter 30, trapping her in another dimension filed with demons and voices telling her to come to "Mother", while the body is left lifelessly behind. It is later revealed that she was actually kidnapped while a fake corpse is left in her place.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Octavia gets put through the RINGER, she has spent years having to deal with her parent's dysfunctional marriage and her mother's expectations, then suffers through numerous nightmares, then the Uproar happens forcing her to witness battle and death, then she's kidnapped and dragged to Mother's realm where she's held prisoner for months, and finally she nearly loses her father in the return journey. The experience leaves her very shocked and haunted, as she suffers from nightmares even after it all, and it's heavily implied it's going to be a long while before she ever fully recovers.
  • True Companions: She and Loona become this and their friendship is the main crux of most of the story.
  • Warrior Princess: Deconstructed. Octavia starting picking up some warrior skills, such as using a gun and handling a sword in the first half. However, her first experience of actually using a gun, leaves her shaken. During the middle act, she's forced to fight for her life during the Uproar, having to kill leagues of crazed demons and witnessing several horrific sights on her way back home. The experiences leave her traumatized and withdrawn from everyone else, as she's not used to this level of violence as the rest of Hell.
  • White Magician Girl: Briefly becomes on in Chapter 59, when she forces Lucifer to channel magic through her body, in order to better heal her friends and family who are all on the brink of death.
     Loona

The adopted daughter of Blitzo and the moody receptionist of I.M.P., Loona has often felt like an outcast even among those closet to her. Having to deal with constant prejudice from others and never having any real friends for a long time, the hellhound is reluctant to let anyone get close to her, even her coworkers and family. However, as she slowly assimilates into Vortex’s friend group, and more importantly forms a strong friendship with Octavia, the hellhound learns to finally open up to those around her again.

  • Action Girl: Should come as no surprise given what she’s already capable of, but Chapter 13 has her beating back a rapid group of Verosika fans with fire, a knife, and a flaming whip.
  • Adaptational Skill: In this continuity, hellhounds are able to breathe fire, and this includes Loona, who uses it in combat whenever she can.
  • Anguished Outburst: Loona slips into this state for most of Chapter 32, after Octavia's death, becoming bitter, snappier and overly violent, at those around her and refusing to admit her pain at the loss and frustration of always losing something or seek help from others. When Millie tries to comfort her, Loona scars her shoulder, curses her and Moxxie out and storms out in a huff, to cause havoc in the streets of Hell. Later on, when Blitzo confronts her, Loona starts accusing him and her coworkers of never believing her and nosing in on her stuff. Once she finally vents at him, she starts cooling down somewhat, finally willing to try and move forward by the end of the chapter.
  • Badass Biker: Loona is still a brutal fighter in close quarters combat and this time owns a bike, named Norman, which she frequently uses for travel.
  • Berserk Button: There are many things that can send the short-tempered Loona into a blind rage. Blitzo's overprotectiveness for one. But the most triggering for her, is being the subject of racism from others. She broke an imp’s jaw for refusing to serve her unless she made out with him.
  • Beware of Vicious Dog: Loona is still a monster in a fight, and is more than capable of taking on multiple people at once, as shown in Chapter 12. Her bite force can effortlessly crush beer bottle glass.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Being technically sisters, by virtue of their fathers dating each other, it's no surprise that Loona is very protective and caring towards Octavia, often being the first one to comfort her when she's feeling depressed and defending her from most of her troubles, like escaping a fight her parents are having.
  • Breath Weapon: Has a vicious fire breath, which she can use to fight back demons or destroy property with ease.
  • Broken Tears: Loona breaks down into these, after confessing how much she misses Octavia and how she feels distraught after her passing.
  • Cool Big Sis: Both of their fathers are currently dating, making them technically sisters in a way. Octavia heavily looks up to and admires Loona for her independence, attitude, skills and personality, often turning to her in times of need.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Her mother abandoned her on the streets to die when she was only four years old and could barely remember her. From there she spent most a better part of her life on the streets, before moving into a rundown orphanage. After enduring a few troubled homes, she finally found some solidarity with Blitz. She spent the first several months of her life with him by sneaking out to continue a drug habit picked up at the orphanage by running with other junkies until Blitz eventually helped her kick the habit.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Loona stubbornly refuses Octavia's hospitality to move back into the palace, when her & Blitzo's home are ruined and their money is stolen, even telling her this almost word to word. Via counters it's not pity but help, but Loona still refuses not wanting to leave the only home she has left. Octavia reluctantly agrees, and the two settle for the princess helping them rebuild their home the best they can. It is also because the general consensus among the citizens of Imp City that one must be self-reliant, to avoid being helpless when something you usually rely on suddenly vanishes without warning.
  • Easily Forgiven: Neither Millie or Moxxie are too mad at Loona, for her lashing out and scarring the former in the heat of the moment, both understanding she's still mourning Octavia's death.
  • Friendless Background: As in canon Loona doesn’t have many friends at the start, besides Vortex. This is sighted as one of the main causes of her attitude and laziness in her work.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: Entering Mother's realm is quite the traumatizing and terrifying experience for the hellhound. So much so that upon returning, she briefly becoming a hysterical, shivering, muttering, panicked wreck, repeating haunting poems about Mother, crying to Blitzo for help like a child and desperately trying to convince him & Stolas that Octavia's alive. While she steadily gets better through the rest of the chapter, it's almost guaranteed, she's far from recovered from the experience.
  • Groin Attack: Loona delivers a devastating one to Vlad, a would-be boyfriend of hers after he tries to hit on her in Chapter 2. Octavia swears she heard one of his balls pop.
  • Guilty Pleasures: Loona absolutely adores getting her hair brushed by someone else, especially Blitzo, but won't admit it to anyone due to how demeaning it is for a hellhound, the lowest class, to enjoy this kind of seemingly demeaning treatment from others.
  • Happily Adopted: By the start of the story, her relationship with Blitzo is rough and complicated, with her keeping a distance from him, much like in canon. As the story goes on, the two grow closer and more familial. By Chapter 45, she no longer tries to deny her attachment to him, openly and lovingly calling him dad.
  • Heroic BSoD: Loona is left absolutely devastated by first becoming short tempered and isolating herself from everyone, lashing out at any attempts at sympathy unless it's from Blitzo, until the end of the chapter. This still carries on with the next one, as she's said to spend more time lazing on the couch depressed and doing anything.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: To Octavia.
  • Hidden Depths: She has a bass guitar that she would occasionally play at home. Chapter 22 reveals that Loona has a soft spot for classical music as well and is quite proficient with the piano.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Millie quickly deduces and explains to Blitzo that one of the reasons for Loona's cold and distant attitude, is because she’s lonely and doesn’t have anyone to talk to. She turns out to be right. Loona is only now slowly making friends with other hellhounds like Vortex & Polaris. Once she starts befriending Octavia, it gradually starts to improve her attitude.
  • Improvised Weapon: Loona uses a flaming bike chain as an impromptu whip, against the hordes of rapid, rioting fans during Verosika's final tour in Anger.
  • The Lad-ette: Loona was already a drinker, but her party dog traits come out in drove when she's around Vortex and his gang of hellhounds, who frequently partake in crazy and wild activities such as drinking, playing sports, barbecuing and smoking weed.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: In the heat of a moment, Loona lashes at Millie when she tries to comfort her, causing her to scar the imp's shoulder. Loona is immediately regretful, but is too distraught to fully apologize, instead cursing her and Moxxie out before leaving. She later gets a chance to properly apologize in the same chapter.
  • Never Gets Drunk: Due to her hellhound metabolism and frequent consumption of alcohol, it takes a lot to get Loona drunk, if at all. In her drinking duel with Slaanesh, she chugged a massive growler (around 1.8 liters) of a hot, alcoholic liquor that has one of the highest alcohol content known to Hell in a single go and didn't seem the least bit fizzled afterwards, only having her inhibitions lowered slightly. Though, to be fair, her body had no time to absorb the effects before her stomach rejected it in a napalm 'belch' that did considerable damage to the bar.
  • The Nose Knows: Despite some trial and error, Loona's able to lead Octavia and Stolas through the hedge maze, using her sense of smell to guide them. It's even powerful enough to sniff out Octavia's location, even in a place as otherworldly as Mother's realm, allowing her and the rescue party to track her through the otherworldly realm.
  • Not So Stoic: After being humiliated and insulted by a racist couple at a cafe in Chapter 4, Loona lets herself cry in front of Octavia on the playground, where she laments about everything she goes through.
  • Now, Let Me Carry You: While not fully dependent on him, Blitzo has been there to help Loona through numerous hardships throughout her life, including adopting her, helping her kick her drug habits, giving her a job and being there to comfort her after Octavia seemingly dies. And so Loona pays him back in kind, whenever she joins him in battle, frequently being the first to kill anyone attempting to hurt him. In particular she rushes in to save her father, as he's about to be overwhelmed by Mother's army, even after her leg is broken as a result.
  • Obviously Not Fine: Loona tries to cope with Octavia's death, by pretending nothing's wrong, wanting to go back to work and angrily insisting that she's fine and wants to be left alone, despite the fact that everyone can see she's hurting. It takes Blitzo confronting her, for the hellhound to finally admit how much her friend's death is hurting her.
  • Parental Abandonment: When she was 4 years old, Loona was left on the streets to die by her mother.
  • Plagued by Nightmares: Octavia's death causes Loona to experience several haunting and disturbing dreams of her friend dying, calling for her help and being devoured by monsters, all the while she's unable to do anything. Turns out that they were not dreams but her friend asking for her help from another dimension.
  • Please, I Will Do Anything!: Says this in a determined way to Pendergast, in regards to helping her friend.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Loona pulls out one of these on Octavia when she tries to convince the princess to take her place, while she joins Blitzo on his tour with Verosika.
  • Recovered Addict: While Loona still enjoys a good drink and smoke, she used to be much worse. She would often hang out a group of hellhound junkies, and spend most of her time drinking and doing various drugs such as cocaine and ecstasy. Blitzo finally confronted her about it, after a rough bender, and helped her kick most of her bad habits.
  • The Shut-In: Briefly and occasionally becomes this, after losing Octavia, spending most of her days on the couch, eating junk food and watching TV. Seems to finally kick the habit after Chapter 39.
  • Street Urchin: Spent most of her childhood as one, until she she moved into an orphanage.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: It’s subtle, but her time with Octavia, makes the hellhound less apathetic and more caring towards her coworkers. This is shown in Chapter 14, where she gives Moxxie an easy target, after his recent traumatic experiences. Her relationship with Blitzo also takes an upward turn, as the pair grow closer during the uproar.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Loona owns a scrunchie that used to belong to Polly, as a reminder of her friend after her passing.
  • True Companions: The main plotline of the story, is the strange yet strong friendship between her and Octavia.
  • The Un Favourite: Loona learns she was this the painful way, when she goes to confront her mother for abandoning her at 4 years old, only to find her being the loving mother of a pair of twins.
  • The Unfettered: Upon learning Octavia's true fate, Loona becomes determined to do whatever it takes to save her best friend from mother's grasps.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Loona's segment in Chpater 56 reveals that when Octavia escaped her captors and is wandering around the eldritch realm, Mother made use of Loona's sense of smell track down Octavia so that Loona will find Octavia for her. It is also implied that the initial Condensation Clue message to find her that started the third act was actually a message sent by the eldritch abomination posing as Octavia. Loona understandably berates herself for falling for it.

I.M.P

     Blitzo

The eccentric, maniac, close-guarded yet loving Founder of I.M.P., Blitzo keeps those closet to him at an arms length but will do anything to keep them safe. Though he often struggles to be a perfect father to Loona, the imp loves her and wants to make sure his daughter doesn’t end up like he did. As he and Stolas slowly start to enter a relationship, the imp still struggles to keep his place in Hell, especially with the Warden breathing down his neck.

  • Action Dad: Loona might be adopted, but the ruthless, cocky yet efficient assassin Blitzo will do anything to make sure his daughter is safe and kill any asshole who would try to hurt her.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Despite the imp usually despising being seen as weak and bellow some one, Blitzo will gladly do it for Loona, getting down on his knee and begging in front of Verosika, if it means that she gets treated better. Even Verosika is shocked by it.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Loona reveals she had a rough bender during her early years living with Blitzo, and then in the next day he kicked down her door and confronted her about it, furious over her disregard for her own health. Loona described him as being madder than she had ever seen him up until that point and admits, she was terrified by his sudden change in mood.
  • Boyfriend-Blocking Dad: Blitzo is very reluctant and often refuses, to let Loona get too close with other men and especially have sex. This is most shown during their time as security for Verosika's tour. Later he admits much of the reason for this, is because he doesn’t want his daughter to repeat the same mistakes he did.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Blitzo hates having Stolas coming to his aid. He refuses Stolas' money to pay off his debts to Rufus. And as he attempts to leave Stolas' palace following their disastrous encounter with Warden Rufus, he outright exclaims to the Prince that he doesn't want his pity, money or him pretending to care about him.
  • Easily Forgiven: Downplayed and Subverted after his mission in Chapter 23. While Millie is still resentful and angry with him after this and everything else, she's willing to give him a chance to make things better. Moxxie on the other hand has finally had enough of his boss' harassment and reckless behavior, and almost considers quitting, until Millie talks him out of it. By the end of the chapter however, it seems that they've mostly put all the behind them, once Blitzo apologizes and explains his reasons for taking the job.
  • The Grinch: Despises the Krampusnacht season, claiming it's all a much of capitalistic bullshit. Loona scoffs, revealing he's just bitter he keeps getting coal every year.
  • Insecure Love Interest: Blitzo clearly has feelings for Prince Stolas, but due to his self-loathing, lower rank, and the way he feels more like a glorified sex toy than an actual lover, the imp has trouble feeling like he's actually loved by him and is reluctant to open up to the Goetia demon.
  • My Greatest Failure: Blitzo has had many moments like these in his life, but Millie's near death in Chapter 24 is enough to almost make him consider committing suicide.
    • His biggest regret however is possibly causing the accident that lead to the death of his parents, Fizzarolli's loss of limbs and the fire at his circus. While it's left ambiguous if he actually cut the rope, that killed his father, he still blames himself for the incident.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Blitzo breaks down in tears in Chapter 23, upon seeing Millie nearly get killed and the many injuries Loona has sustained after their latest assignment, which he foolishly accepted realizing what his stupidity is doing to his team.
  • Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: Blitzo gives one last, familiar battle cry, at the end of Chapter 57, before the final battle:
Blitzo: All right fam. I don't know about you, but I'm done shaking in my boots for these slimy, brain-raping shitlords. Guys, let's fuck these FUCKERS UP!
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Blitzo gives a brutally, hard and honest one to Stolas, when the prince requests he tells him, what the imp really thinks about the way he's been treated.
  • Relationship Upgrade: He officially enters a tentative romantic relationship with Stolas in Chapter 8, after voicing his grievances with their current relationship and the prince apologizing for his actions. While it’s still a complicated relationship, with much of Hell frowning on their partnership, the later chapters show them as being much happier and healthy than in the start.
  • Self-Made Orphan: Ambiguous. While it's stated, it's hinted that he killed his father, and unintentionally caused the fire that would then kill his mother, after he grew tried of his abuse towards him and his sister.
     Moxxie & Millie

M&M have been with I.M.P., practically for as long as it’s been around. Despite their differences, Moxxie being a nervous, cultured sharpshooter who would rather avoid confrontation, and Millie being a confident, sometimes psychotic farmgirl, who is far from afraid to hack someone to shreds, their love for each other is unquestionable and the two stick together through thick and thin.

  • Ascended Fanboy: Moxxie, a master and fanboy at various types of guns, has a small moment of shocked awe, at seeing Rufus' stash of Heavenly weapons as well as the chance of actually using one.
  • Babies Ever After: Millie becomes pregnant sometime during Penultimate chapter, after she and Moxxie have been trying out for a baby during the whole story. While they're worried for the child's safety, as it means Millie was with child all the way back during their mission in Mother's realm, both are nonetheless happy and excited to faintly be parents.
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: Wether it's facing down crazy cultists in Canada, or fighting off Mother's horrors in her realm, Moxxie and Millie are rarely seen fighting far away from each other.
  • Battle Couple: As ever, these two married warriors and assassins are rarely seen apart with Moxxie being the marksman to Millie's swordsman.
  • Both Sides Have a Point: After a mission goes horribly wrong, and almost ends up costing Millie's life, Moxxie considers finally quitting I.M.P. and leaving Blitzo behind, getting into a debate about it with his wife. Millie, who despite being hurt and still not fully forgiving Blitzo, wants to stay a while longer and not leave him just yet. While Moxxie is absolutely correct that Blitzo is often selfish, egotistical and a jerk, who keeps putting them in unnecessary risks at the best of times, Millie counters they both knew the job wouldn't be without risks and that while their boss' behavior shouldn't be encouraged, he only acts this way to mask his loneliness and he's been steadily improving himself recently, especially with help from Stolas. Leaving him now, would only cause him more grief than he's already going through.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: The two share a brief bit of flirting and a kiss, during the big fight in Chapter 23.
  • Closet Geek: Moxxie is a fan of Angel Dust's work, and apparently has a Celeb Crush on his, judging by the amount of DVDs he owns of the porn star's films and how flustered he becomes, once the sinner starts openly flirting with him.
  • Commonality Connection: Moxxie & Millie first bond over their bad experiences with romantic partners, him having a physically abusive one, and her's hinted to have been a cheater. They managed to find comfort and solidarity in each other, which eventually lead to a new relationship and eventually marriage.
  • Facial Horror: Moxxie get's a face full of acidic blood during the battle with the King. His his mask covered up on half of his face, the other is turned pink and will likely become white with scarring over time.
  • Flirting Under Fire: Even while fight off legions of Mother's worst, most powerful monsters, the couple find time to make some very flirtatious and explicate banter between them, with Moxxie promising to put plenty of babies inside of Millie once the battle is over.
  • Friend to All Children: The pair of them, are said to be this, as they frequently play and entertain the refugee children, while at Stolas' castle.
  • Happily Married: As in canon, Moxxie and Millie are completely devoted to each other, to the point that it throws Octavia for a loop, wondering how two imps on the edge of poverty can be so darn happy together while her royal parents seem so miserable.
  • The Heart: Millie frequently plays this role in the team, acting as the mediator and peacekeeper between Moxxie & Blitzo, especially during Chapter 24, and being the one to encourage Blitzo help Loona make some more friends at the beginning of the story.
  • Making Love in All the Wrong Places: The two do this in the armory in Chapter 6 and in their bathtub in Chapter 24.
  • Not So Above It All: Moxxie is just as frustrated with Blitzo, over his reckless idea of collapsing a building on top a wave of enemies, while they were still nearby, but admits that it was pretty awesome.
    • Mille meanwhile at first seems to take great offense to Angel Dust's excessive flirting and attempts to sleep with her husband Moxxie, but when slyly and joking joins him, suggesting that they have a threesome together to celebrate his birthday, much to his shock.
  • Warrior Therapist: Being one of the most levelheaded and caring members of the group, Millie's the first to want and try hear out her coworkers' problems and offer advice and help anyway she can. She was the one to deduce Loona's loneliness and advise Blitzo to try and get her some friends and she was the one to comfort Moxxie after their traumatic mission, encouraging him to try and make up with Blitzo, despite his errors.
  • You Remind Me of X: Yoshimo states that Millie reminds Rufus of his daughter, which might explain why he has a soft spot for her.

Ars Goetia

     Stolas

Prince Stolas of the Ars Goetia, has many duties in his life. He’s the loving father of Princess Octavia, the husband of Stella, a elite member of Hell’s upperclass, the one who allows I.M.P. to continue running and also the boyfriend of Blitzo. Though the prince often struggles to find a good balance of all his roles, and maintaining a happy life, he will often do for the sake of his daughter.

  • Action Dad: Doesn't get to see much action early in the story, having mostly retried to focus on raising Octaiva, but being a Prince of Hell with legions under his command, a great variety of spells and decades of experiences in war against Heaven he qualifies.
  • An Arm and a Leg: While not fully removed, Stolas severally wounds and practically destroys his right arm, while killing the King, making it all but useless.
  • Anguished Declaration of Love: Stolas gives an emotional one to Blitzo in Chapter 8, telling him how much he values the imp and how happy he makes him after the imp tries to storm off and reveals how he feels like the prince only sees him as a sex toy.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Gives one to Stella in Chapter 16: “You're so concerned about what the Family thinks of her, Estelle, but what does your daughter think about you?”
  • Bearer of Bad News: Being the only one to have discovered it by then, Stolas has to be the one to tell Stella & Loona about Octavia's passing. Neither of them take it well with Stella seemingly blaming Stolas for not noticing sooner.
  • Broke Your Arm Punching Out Cthulhu:
    • For a pacifist, Stolas gets into a few dust ups with pretty powerful forces in this story, most notably near the end. In Chapter 57 the group encounters a powerful eldritch acolyte known only as The King. After a protracted battle Stolas defeats it by driving his right arm into its center mass and crushing its heart at the cost of burning and mangling his right arm so badly that it's almost useless.
    • Stolas gets another moment when Mother finally shows up to join her legions in reclaiming Octavia. With his fellow teammates thoroughly worn out and close to death, the Prince reaches inside of himself and manages to summon all the magical energies of his being, allowing him to not only keep the teleportation spell together, but to hold back Mother and her forces back long enough to Charlie to get them out. But again, it comes at great personal cost, as the Prince starts falling apart from the force of the spell, feathers, flesh and pieces of himself fading away. With the final words he gives his family, it's very heavily implied that this spell will cost Stolas his life.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Played With. While Stolas is far from eccentric, it's easy to forgot how seriously and well he takes his duties as a Goetian Prince of Hell. Chapter 19 go well out of their way to highlight his skills in negotiation and diplomacy with his fellow Overlords and Wardens.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Stolas struggles to express his true feelings towards Blitzo in Chapter 7, thinking of loving things to say in his head, but never telling them to the imp. Subverted in Chapter 8 however, where the Prince confesses his true feelings for the imp turning into a heated argument.
  • Dad the Veteran: Played With. During a late night conversation with Blitz, Stolas reveals that he endured a few ugly experiences as a battlefield commander during a second crusade against Heaven. While not outright stated, it can be inferred that part of his pacifism stems from his desire to be a better father than he was a soldier.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Spends most of his grieving process, after Octavia's death, doing this forgetting about his responsibilities as an Ars Goetia to his people.
  • Dying Declaration of Love: With his death more than likely after using his all of his magical power to hold off Mother, a weaken Stolas tells Blitzo that he loves him. As well as telling Octavia that he's proud of her.
  • Eye Scream: Gets splinters of metal from his armor, into his upper right eye, severally blinding him.
  • Five Stages of Grief: Stolas goes through the first four, after finding Octavia motionless in her bed. At first he is in denial taking her to a hospital, to have the doctors try and heal her. Then anger when they tell him that it's too late, causing him to assault the doctors working there in his fury. Then bargaining as he tries to call upon any means to bring his daughter back through either medical or magical means. And finally depression, when he sees nothing can be done about Octavia, causing him to fall into despair and weep with his wife. He continues in his depressed state for two weeks, neglecting his duties, staff, garden and people to wallow in his sorrows, until Blitzo and Rufus manage to comfort him and help him remember his responsibilities and encourage him to live on for Octavia, which seems to finally get him to reach acceptance.
  • Heel Realization: Blitzo telling him how he feels like nothing more than a clown and sex object from the way the prince has been treating him, is enough to make Stolas realize how much he has hurt the imp. He immediately apologizes and vows to try and treat him better.
  • Heroic BSoD: Stolas is rocked the hardest from his daughter's death. With the single most important person in his life now taken from him, the prince turns to drinking and wallowing to himself in his palace neglecting everything from his duties to his people, his garden, his friends, Stella and even his own wellbeing. A state he remains in for two weeks before Blitzo and Rufus knock some sense into him.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Seemingly does this near the end of Chapter 58. With Mother arriving for the final battle, when everyone is one their last legs, with no ammo and several fatal wounds, Stolas recklessly summons up all of his magical reserves, channeling it into one final spell to keep the Eldritch Horror at bay long enough for Charlie to get them out. It's successful, though it massively damages the Prince's body, as feather and chunks of flesh start falling off rapidly. Knowing this is likely the end, Stolas binds farewell to Blitzo, Loona and Octavia than falls unconscious shortly after.
  • Insecure Love Interest: Similarly Stolas in the earlier chapters, wants to tell Blitzo just how much he values him but isn't sure of himself enough to actually do so, which is why he resorts mainly to flirting. It takes him until Chapter 8, to come clean.
  • It's All My Fault:
    • Loona tries to tell Stolas that it's not his fault Octavia dies. And while Stolas knows that fully well, he sadly can't bring himself to believe it as he's her father.
    • Stolas has another small breakdown in the shower the morning after learning of Mother's plans and Octavia's true fate. He blames himself for not seeing the danger sooner, as he should've tumbled to the truth during his studies of the stars and prophesies.
  • My Greatest Failure:
    • After her death, Stolas considers not spending more time with Octavia and doing more to keep her alive to be this.
    • It's revealed Octavia almost died as a toddler while under his care when she got away from him and nearly fell down the basement steps. As an additional horror, in saving her, he accidentally dislocated her shoulder and hates himself for the fear and hurt he caused Octavia.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Has this reaction, upon finding out how Blitzo feels under their current arrangements, leaving the prince in shock. Stolas immediately apologizes for how he has acted and has since tried to be better.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: The big sign of how far gone Stolas is in terms of his grief after losing Octavia, is when Bltizo & Stolas find his garden unattended, his plants dying and overgrowth all over the place. A troubling sight given how much the prince loves his plants.
  • Papa Wolf: As ever Stolas is deeply loving and protective of his daughter. So much so he's willing to fight Lucifer himself for her safety.
  • Plagued by Nightmares: Octavia's death, leaves him haunted with bad dreams involving her in some way.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Despite a rocky start and tearful confessions, he and Blitzo make their relationship in Chapter 8.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Is among the many Ars Goetias summoned to help deal with the aftermath of the Uproar.
  • So Proud of You: With him likely dying as a result of holding back Mother, Stolas tells Octavia how proud he is of how much she's grown. Knowing it will likely be his last words to her:
"Octavia. My beautiful Starfire. You were so eager to see the world that you came out of your egg early. We thought we'd lose you. And for years, you were so small, I used to think the Court would blow you away, or gobble you up. Now, look at you. My girl's all grown up. You're stronger than I ever dreamed, and you have so many friends. I'm so proud of you, my daughter."
  • Take Care of the Kids: His possible last request to Loona, is to ask her to take care of his daughter Octavia and be a good big sister to her.
  • Worf Had the Flu: Rufus was able to get the drop on Stolas and nearly kill the prince, by distracting him with his love for Blitzo during their confrontation in Chapter 8. Rufus stated that the Stolas in the past wouldn't have fallen for such an obvious trap.
     Stella

Stella, the sister of Andrealphus, wife of Stolas and mother of Octavia, is a complicated figure. She dearly loves her daughter and wants to try and keep her family together. But due to her harsh upbringing, her short temper and outdated beliefs, she doesn’t always see her actions cause more harm than good and is more concerned with how Hell might view the family rather than what’s best for her family.

  • Abusive Parent: For all her love for Octavia, Stella's skewed view on what's best for her daughter and focus on how their family will be viewed by the rest of society does more harm than good for her daughter in the long run. She's quick to lose her temper, often ignores her daughters protests and can be verbally abusive towards her, during her fights with Stolas, all of which is negatively affecting Octavia. Most of the time, she does regret what she's done and tries to make up for it, but the repeating pattern is shown to be quick emotionally draining for her daughter. Thankfully, by Chapter 20, she realizes how controlling she has been, and vows to improve herself.
  • Action Mom: While she's put most of this aside in order to focus on politics and raising Octavia, was once a master Swordsman, who put her talent to use for the good of Hell at least two pillaging raids with Stolas while they were young and wild. We actually get to see that in full display in Chapter 26, where she fights and almost singlehandedly butchers a giant hell dragon with a BFS, slashing its throat open.
  • Action Politician: She was one in youth. Nowadays, she's put her action days behind her. Though Chapter 21 implies she might start picking that up again.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Compared to canon Stella, who was little more than a snoopy, vain, reckless and spoiled child of a woman, more focused on revenge to see the bigger picture of what would happen should Stolas die, this one is a crafty, cunning and skilled expert in the game of politics, battle strategy and planning.
  • Adaptational Sympathy: While Stella still maintains much of her angry, classist personality, she’s portrayed in a much more reasonable light. This time she is much more concerned about how Hell would view Stolas and her family, with how carelessly and openly he displays his relationship with Blitzo to everyone. She ultimately believes she’s doing the right thing and wants the best for her daughter, but has a narrow view of what that is. Once she realizes how her actions have negatively affected Octavia, she does her best to make up for her mistakes and be better for her. Her relationship with Stolas, while still very broken and flawed is also much more loving and friendly than the one in canon, where Stella was openly mocking her husband and enjoyed making his life hell, out of spite.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Stolas occasionally calls her "Estelle".
  • Big Damn Heroes: Just as Octavia, I.M.P. and Rufus are about to enter a helpless fight against a titanic dragon, Stella shows up with a sword and shield, to effortlessly kill the beast and save her daughter.
  • The Bus Came Back: After almost twenty chapters being gone from the story, Stella finally returns home from her stay with Andrealphus, right on time to learn what's happened to Octavia and help them rescue her.
  • Character Development: Stella starts off mostly as we've come to expect her, as a hotheaded, classist, strict and politically driven crone, who takes more stalk in what Hell things of her rather than what her daughter wants. After her Heel Realization though, she starts making progress in rebuilding the bridge between herself and her family, not getting to wrapped up in the grand politics of Hell and even giving Loona a chance. As a result, she grows much closer to all of them, reignites her flame with Stolas and even seriously considers hiring Loona as Octavia's bodyguard as a service to her daughter and her friend.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Punches Alastor across the room and through a wall, during Octavia's wedding. As in Alastor, The Radio Demon who has toppled the empire of some of Hell's strongest Overlords with ease. And the swan decks him, the moment she starts dancing with Octavia.
  • Dragon Slayer: Almost singlehandedly kills a giant Hell Dragon that was threatening to kill her daughter, by slashing open its throat with her sword. Octavia evens calls her this, when the two reunite.
  • Fantasy-Forbidding Father: Gender Inverted and Played With. While the hellhound's relationship with her daughter Octavia isn’t romantic, Stella is vehemently against it, due to mostly her bigoted views and partly the bad press and political consequences that might arise from their royal family associating with someone from the lowest class, especially after Stolas’ affair with Blitzo.
  • Forgiven, but Not Forgotten: Stella finally apologizes to Loona in Chapter 53, over how she treated her, after seeing just how much the hellhound loves her daughter. And while Loona certainly appreciates the sentiment, and has come to understand why she did what she did, the hellhound makes it quite clear a simple apology isn't going to be enough to make up for it and that she has a lot more work to do, if she's expecting forgiveness.
  • Freudian Excuse: Above all else, Stella cares about her family's reputation, and how the rest of the world's royalty might view them. Given that they literally live in Hell, where love is sometimes viewed as a weakness, the reputation of a Goetia is important, she does whatever she can to ensure they come out looking good. Stella does care about her family, but she's so blinded by their image and lessons imparted to her since she was a child, that she often can't see she's doing the wrong thing. And when she does, Stella often tries to run away from the issue instead of addressing this, which in turn is ruining her family life.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: For all her good intentions, Stella often takes things too far and lets her prejudice get the best of her judgement, ultimately leading her to become far too controlling of Octavia's freedom, causing a strain on her already fracturing mental health and their relationship. This comes to ahead in Chapter 20, where Octavia finally stands up to her mother, causing her to realize she's taking it too far, driving her to make amends and find a healthy balance between freedom and image, which thankfully helps to save their relationship.
  • Flaming Sword: Stella flies into battle in Chapter 26, with a giant shield and a claymore coated in pink flames.
  • Hidden Depths: Chapter 21, gives her many new skills besides politics, that we haven't seen explored up until then. These include horse riding, fencing (having apparently being the one to have taught Stolas) and that she used to be much more free spirited. Before they were married she would often sneak by Stolas' home to visit and have dates with him, and during the early days of their marriage, planned out and went on several pillages on various rebelling lower-class villages.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Seems to have reached this point near the end of Chapter 52, with her not trying to dissuade Stolas from sleeping with Blitzo, being content to simply remain friends with him and allowing the prince to pursue his love without any further action.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Stella, despite her rage, has every right to be furious at Stolas for his carelessness during his play date with Blitzo, wearing dirty, flirtatious matching Hawaiian shirts with the imp, and not even putting on a disguise. Being a royal demon, him openly displaying his affair with the lower class imp, is going to cause problems to their family and severely ruin their image. Given that they live in Hell where power taken more seriously over morals, it is hard to argue against that logic.
  • Mama Bear: Stella does have her moments towards Octavia. In particular, when she punched Alastor through the room, when he crashed her daughter's birthday and started dancing with her. Other subsequent moments include: slaying a dragon attempting to eat Octavia and helping to keep the portal to Mother's realm open, so that the others can save her daughter.
  • Master Swordsman: Is an expert fencer and even trained Stolas himself a thing or two when it comes to swordsmanship. While she had put them away in order to focus on politics, she's picking it back up again, to teach Octavia fencing.
  • Megaton Punch: Lands one on Alasor the Radio Demon, when he shows up uninvited to Octavia's birthday and trying to dance with her.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Has this reaction in Chapter 20, after her fight with Octavia, as she realizes how her behavior has negatively affected her daughter.
  • Not Listening to Me, Are You?: While Octavia has tried on multiple occasions to get Stella to listen to her about Loona, the swan is often reluctant and no caring about it, being mostly focused on how the hellhound will affect the family's standing with the court. It's only in Chapter 21, where she and Octavia finally sit down and talk, that Stella starts to understand Octavia's friendship with Loona.
  • The Perfectionist: Stella does her damndest to ensure that she and her family, are viewed as perfectly as possible. She holds herself to such an impossible standard, that even waking up thirty minutes late is enough to enough to stress her out.
  • Put on a Bus: Octavia's death in Chapter 30 burned her out. She decides to move back to her own family's estate to separate herself from Stolas and the ruins of the former family, leaving the narrative until 20 chapters later.
  • Retired Badass: Of all demons, Stella used to pillage villages of imps who were on strike, carefully planning out the assault, gathering allies and effectively mowing them down with a sword. Nowadays, she's put that behind her, to focus more on politics.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Stella takes politics very seriously, possibly more so than Stolas. She's often concerned with her image, attempting to strengthen the power and ties of her family, and when the Uproar and rescue missions happen, does whatever she can to help Octavia.
  • Take My Hand!: When Lillith just fails to catch Charlie upon their return trip, Stella rushes in after Octavia, fighting against the pull of magic trying to keep her away from her daughter to try and get her back. After an initial failure, she succeeds in grabbing ahold of her daughter the second time, allowing Lucifer to pull her and the whole team back.
  • Tragic Keepsake: The only piece of Octavia she brought with her, after her daughter's death, was a handmade mug she made for her with the help of Reginald.
  • Upper-Class Equestrian: Stella owns a stable filled with hellish horses, that she enjoys riding on, sometimes with Octavia, whenever she's not busy with work.
     Andrealphus

Marquis Andrealphus is the older brother of Stella and the favorite of the family. A sleazy, scheming, slutty heir to the throne, his cares for his family and sister are overshadowed by his own selfishness, desire for more power, pleasure and greed.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: Not that the canon Andrealphus was a nice guy to begin with, but for all his faults it seems he at least cares for his sister and acts as her partner in crime regarding divorcing Stolas. In here though, he seems to view her as little more than a pawn in order to further his own goals and power.
  • The Matchmaker: During her stay in his palace, Andrealphus tries to hook up Stella, with a number of different royals, Goetias and fancy demons, claiming that it might help her get over Octavia's death, and get away from her unhappy marriage with Stolas. It becomes apparent he's more interested in marrying her off, as a bargaining to increase his own status and power.
  • Parental Favoritism: During her youth, Andrealphus was the favorite child of her parents, with him being born a beautiful peacock, with a charming wit while Stella was born a swan, and thus plain by Ars Goetia standards.
  • Prince Charmless: Becomes a Prince, after Octavia passes, and quickly shows himself as a selfish, sleazy and arrogant royal, caring more about throwing parties, having sex and showing off his own status, than to help anyone during the uproar or even comforting his own sister.
  • Really Gets Around: Has a rather infamous reputation for sleeping his way around, even managing to charm himself into Asmodeus' pants.
  • Upper-Class Twit: As an Ars Goetian Marquis and later Prince, Andrealphus has none of his sister's interest or talent in politics, spending most of his time with grand parties, meaningless sex and using his carm to get his way with people.

Returning Faces

     Verosika

Blitzo’s bitter ex-girlfriend and a famous popstar in Hell. Though she’s constantly in and out of rehab, the succubi still maintains a loyal fanbase and is used to getting what she wants. Petty and vain, though at times fair, the succubus still holds a tight grudge on her ex, making things rather awkward for the both of them, when the two are forced to work together during her tour.

  • Even Evil Has Standards: For all her spite, Verosika does have a few redeemable moments to her. Most of these are shown in Chapter 12. After Blitzo begs her to stop demeaning Loona, the Succubus agrees and since then starts treating Loona with more respect and fairness. She even offers her a job as a bodyguard, which Loona turns down. When Loona's falls unconscious from a spiked drink, Verosika is quick to make sure she's okay and the next day, quickly reprimands and kills the incubus responsible. Even when Stolas shows up, and Verosika has the perfect opportunity to make her ex's life miserable, by taking photos and leaking the site online, she chooses not in exchange for a ride to Lust, after the two of them have made up a little.
  • Evil Is Petty: Verosika takes every opportunity she can to make Blitzo's stay as her security guard as miserably as possible. She gives him all the dirty and hard chores she doesn't want to do, extends her tour by an extra week to screw with his work, beings to toy with Loona treating her unfairly and with plenty of bigoted remarks and gestures, knowing it will piss the imp off, and when he finally confronts her about it, demands he kneel down and beg for her to stop.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Started out being a petty, racist, self-centered bitch towards Blitzo & Loona during their first days during her tour. But upon seeing the lengths Blitzo is willing to go through, just to make sure his daughter's treated fairly she agrees to tone it down. By the end of the tour her, she starts to treat them more fairly, she and Blitzo are on much better speaking terms and she even offers Loona a job working for her
  • You Never Did That for Me: When Blitzo confronts Verosika about her treatment of Loona, the pop star demands that her ex get down on his knees and beg for her to stop. Blitzo begrudgingly does this, which shocks Verosika greatly, as he never did anything like that for her, when they were dating.
Verosika: "I've never seen you beg before, Blitzo. Not even for me."
     Vortex

Sometimes Verosika’s bodyguard, other times one of Rufus’ generals, the Hellhound is an gentle, easygoing giant to his friends. Though he is not above breaking bones out of anyone who crosses him, he would rather share a drink and a steak with his buddies, most of the time.

  • Claustrophobia: Suffers from this, after he was kidnapped and left in a small cage for months as a child.
  • Gentle Giant: For one of the largest of his species, Tex is surprisingly easy going, kind, and slow to anger, which makes him all the easier for the normally tight-lipped Loona to open up to.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: On top of being Verosika's bodyguard, Vortex also serves as one of Warden Rufus' Sergeants, helping him maintain peace in Hell. Usually though, he's often seen hanging out with his girlfriend and pack of hellhound buddies.
  • Relationship Upgrade: He proposes to Andromeda some point offscreen in Chapter 52.
     Charlie

Charlie Morningstar, the daughter of Emperor Lucifer and Lillith and the ambitious owner of the Hazbin Hotel, has always been an optimistic and hopeful sort. With her girlfriend Vaggie by her side, and a large, cooky gathering of weirdos at her hotel, she's determined to prove her dream to rehabilitate sinners is possible and later, to help her cousin Octavia, however she can.

  • Badass Adorable: While this cute as a button daughter of Lucifer doesn't get to show it often, Charlie is a powerful and dangerous foe, when angered. King and the countless monsters of Mother’s Realm learn this the painful way, when the kidnap Octavia.
  • Blatant Lies: When she, Vaggie and Alastor finally return home form their mission in Mother's realm, Charlie insists that she is fine and still as bright as ever, despite everyone in the Hotel being able to notice that she's not as cheerful as usual. Slightly justified as she and the others were made to promise not to tell anyone of Mother's existence or what they've been through, so it's likely Charlie wouldn't be able to tell them the full truth, even if she wanted.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Charlie does not take the reveal of her dad, sacrificing an orphanage for their needs, well in the slightest, letting him have it for his dark deeds along with his lack of faith in her dream and always regarding her as a childish optimist with an impossible dream.
  • Friend to All Children: In between working at the Happy Hotel and her royal duties, Charlie would often volunteer at local schools, becoming quite friendly with the many children there. So it comes as a heartbreaking blow to her, when she learns most of them were killed and the school burned to the ground, when the Uproar occurred. Even mores, when she's haunted by the Choir disguised as twisted versions of the children, whom she's forced to kill in order to escape.
  • Lightning Lash: Charlie turns out to be fond of using a whip infused with pink lightning as her primary weapon.
  • Pen Pals: Was this to Octavia, as the two frequently shared letters when the Goetian princess needed someone to talk to and was too afraid to go to Stella about her troubles.
  • Playing with Fire: Primarily uses torrents and flames of hellfire when fighting, during her enemies to cinders in her wrath.
  • Prematurely Grey-Haired: Permanently gains a white streak in her otherwise sunny, yellow hair, as a result of all the stress and hardship she has gone through in Mother's Realm.
  • Stepford Smiler: Turns into one, after everything she's been through in Mother's Realm. Angel Dusk, Husk and the rest of the Hazbin Hotel patrons are able to tell right away, as they notice she isn't smiling or singing as much as she used to. Vaggie notes that she has never sang anything ever since their mission.
     Alastor

The infamous Radio Demon has made quite the name for himself since coming to Hell. Toppling empires and banking Princess Charlie's hotel for no reason other than his own entertainment. No one can truly ever know what he will do next. All we know is that Alastor is not a demon to be taken lightly, who has made countless enemies in his time in Hell. Including a certain Warden of Imp City.

  • Affably Evil: Despite all his mockery, selfishness, sadism and creepiness, Alastor can be quite the gentlemen when he wants to, welcoming guests into his room, offering them drinks as they talk and go over their deals.
  • Arch-Enemy: Warden Rufus views Alastor as this due to a series of bloody and violent fights the two had during their early beginnings. The feud ended with the Radio Demon breaking the Warden's spine and briefly turning him into part of the sidewalk. Alastor knows about this, and takes great delight in toying with the wolf whenever they're in the same room, mocking him for his past failures on earth and in Hell, and belittling his accomplishments as Imp City's Warden.
  • Beneath the Mask: Behind Al's showmanship and mischievous smile, he secretly doesn't know what he wants in life and yet keeps the act as it's all he knows and the one thing, he's good at. He truly does respect Charlie and cares for the people in the hotel, even if he will rarely admit it in a sincere way.
  • Big Entrance:
    • Alastor makes his debut in the story in a fitting way by gatecrashing Octavia's birthday party, much to the shock of everyone there. He dances through the nobility without a care in the world to greet Princess Octavia herself, and gives her a present in the form of a song and dance number... until Stella punches him across the room.
    • He makes another when Stolas, Rufus, and IMP arrive at the Hazbin Hotel to recruit him, stepping out of a patch of shadows and scaring the daylights out of Loona.
  • Break the Haughty: The usually unflappable and unfazed Radio Demon, is taken down several pegs and brought to terror, upon entering Mother's Realm, where his magic is of little use and even cut off at one point, and the beasts are strong enough to utterly overwhelm him. He is broken even further during his experience with the Choir, having to relive his terrible death and seeing visions of his father's abuse.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Shows up briefly at Octavia's birthday, then returns in a big way during the final half, being vital for the quest to save Octavia.
  • Deal with the Devil: Rufus hints that Alastor made some kind of pact with Baron Samedi and Kaifu to gain such powerful magic.
  • The Dreaded: Alastor's unpredictability makes him universally feared, even among the most powerful and royals demons. The moment he enters the room, he commands every eye and Alastor uses this reputation to his advantage to toy with his victims for his own amusement.
  • Dual Wielding: Wields a straight razor and long buck knife, both of which are covered in green flames into combat.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Alastor is incredibly fond of his mother both when he was living and after his death, the woman often shielding him from his father's abuse and helping him grow his love for fine food. He is therefore rocked very hard by Yoshimo mentioning that she knew his mother but also what she thought of her son, after all his work.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Alastor may be a demonic cannibal, who enjoys manipulating and ruining other's lives for his own entertainment, but he isn't a nazi.
    • Even Al is disgusted, at the reveal of so much demon blood needed to power up the spell to Mother's Realm, calling it a waste of good meat.
  • Foil: Alastor has two in this story.
    • The Radio Demon serves as the narcissistic pessimist to Charlie's hopeful optimist.
    • Alastor and Rufus stand as reminders of what the other could be if he learned to put others' concerns before his own or gave into the allure of his own power, respectively. Alastor is a consummate performer who will lie to anyone and everyone (including himself) to get what he wants. Rufus will play straight with anyone he deems worthy of the same courtesy and readily owns every evil thing he did on earth, his atrocities before becoming a Warden, and those he commits in the name of infernal Law and Order. Alastor notes that Rufus wears his colors on his sleeve (to the point that the author gives Rufus different colored suits depending on the occasion, red for work, blue for mediation, purple and dark green for relaxation, etc.) Rufus runs himself ragged policing his city while Alastor blithely enjoys his seat of power. What Alastor sees as a weakness has actually made Rufus incredibly adaptable, more so than Alastor has managed to achieve in his reign of terror. Victory has in some ways, defeated the Radio Demon by increasing his isolation while failure has made Rufus stronger by forcing him to more readily make allies and pursue genuine friendships.
  • Gift of Song: He and his shadow band give Octavia a song and dance, for her 18th birthday.
  • Given Name Reveal: We learn during his nightmare sequence in the Choir, that his born name is actually Edward Delacroix.
  • It Amused Me: Alastor tells Rufus to his face, that the reason he killed and utterly brutalized him was not for fame, power or territory; but for fun.
  • Musical Assassin: Alastor is capable of using music and sound as a weapon, shown when he attacked the King using a strike of static.
  • One-Winged Angel: Alastor is revealed to have a rarely seen, but powerful and terrifying demonic form, that he lets loose during the battle with the King. It is described as a tall, wendigo-like creature.
  • Punched Across the Room: Alastor gets this, courtesy of Stella of all demons.
  • Rage Breaking Point: After having his peaceful afterlife and daily entertainment ruined by the Uproar, and the subsequent rise of Mother forcing him to see he is no longer the top dog he wants to be, thus being dragged into the rescue mission, in which he frequently came close to death, Alastor finally snaps and loses any sense of composure when the teleportation spell back to hell gets disrupted causing him to slip into a furies rant and being fueling the spell through sheer spite and anger
"I've had quite enough! This place is a pig sty! I don't have any coffee! The chocolate is all gone! My best suit is ruined! I'm going to fuck. That. Cunt! I don't care what it takes—WE'RE GOING BACK TO HELL IF I HAVE TO POWER THIS SPELL ON NOTHING BUT PURE SPITE!”
  • Sinister Deer Skull: Alastor's true demonic form, sports a wicked, haunting deer skull in place of a head.
  • Stepford Smiler: Alastor's perpetual smile, often hides his true insecurities and knowledge that he has no end goal and dreams to inspire to other than to cause chaos for his own entertainment. His always smiling, showmanship is mostly just an act to cover up that he's missing something in his life, and doesn't know what.
  • Stunned Silence: Alastor has this reaction, to Yoshimo's reveal that she not only knew his mother but what she really thought of her son.
  • Wendigo: Transformers into a wendigo-like monster, during the battle with the King.
  • What's In It For Me?: Alastor has this response when asked to help save Octavia and the rest of Hell, much to Stolas & Blitzo's bafflement. He relents when Rufus proposes that besting Mother will not only save Alastor's hunting grounds, but will also allow the prideful Radio Demon to cure his perpetual boredom earn the prestigious honor of foiling a massively powerful foe greater than any Hell has ever faced. Though he does manage to get something more out of this, once Lucifer joins the quest, demanding a favor from the emperor which he is begrudgingly granted.
     Lucifer

The Morningstar and Emperor of Hell itself. Married to Lillith and the father of Charlotte "Charlie" Morningstar, the emperor keeps himself busy with ruling over Hell and rarely makes an appearance himself, but he still commands the respect and fear of all the other demons of his infernal realm.

  • Adaptational Villainy: As this was written long before Hazbin Hotel debuted on Amazon Prime, this Lucifer is almost nothing like his canon counterpart. Instead of a depressed, divorced former dreamer and Bumbling Dad who is otherwise a good man, the Morningstar in here is a calculating, manipulative and ruthless emperor of Hell who loves his family but is not afraid of doing monstrous acts, such as sacrificing numerous hellborn children for a ritual.
  • Calling the Young Man Out: During their argument in Chapter 53, Lucifer takes a few shots at Charlie for her seemingly naiveté, stubbornness, sentimentality and childlike behavior.
  • Deader than Dead: Is capable of performing Erasure on anything he likes, effectively erasing it from existence.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Lucifer deeply care for his family, especially his daughter Charlie, despite his poor feelings about her passion project. While he acts coldly, controlling and ruthless towards his subjects, he can quickly lose his stoicism, once his daughter stands up to him and refuses to see her accompany Stolas on his journey.
  • Good Is Not Nice: While he can't be considered fully good, given him being the emperor of Hell and all, Lucifer becomes one of the biggest benefactors to the gang later on, and has no qualms with sacrificing an entire orphanage to help fuel their circle, no matter how disgusted they are by it.
  • Knew It All Along: In addition to knowing back Blitzo's deal with Stolas and Rufus' less than legal hidden affairs, Lucifer was aware of the true source behind the Uproar and Octavia's fate, keeping it a secret from Hell to learn more and keep his people safe from the eldritch abomination's influence while keeping them under his thumb.
  • The Man Behind the Man: It's revealed he was using demons like Barlow, Hasley and others to hire I.M.P. to kill Mother's cultists and take on their increasingly more disturbing hits, wanting to weaken the eldritch horror's power as much as possible. After they died in the mortal world, he would have Satan and his demons kill them upon arriving in Hell, rendering them Deader than Dead. However, some managed to escape and combined with the dreams being inflicted among the hellborn, Mother's influence just shifted to Hell and caused the Uproar.
  • Mind over Matter: Has several displays of using telekinesis to lift demons and objects.
  • Not So Stoic: The seemingly unflappable emperor of Hell, absolutely breaks upon any reference to Mother or her realm. In chapter 59, Octavia is able to turn the Morningstar a ghostly pale upon whispering a secret in his ear, that she learned while trapped.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: After the Uproar, we're given several chapters dedicated to Lucifer, his wardens and fellow higher-class demons attempting to rebuild and control the situation, in the wake of the destruction wrought.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Has a very tense, personal and cold rivalry with his heavenly brother Archangel Gabriel, as evidenced by their annual talk during Krampusnacht, wherein the angel chastises Lucifer for allowing the Rescue Party to live after being tainted by Mother's Realm, while he arrogantly smiles in amusement of Heaven's incompetence and potentially turning to him for help, should the Eldritch Horrors ever come back.

Original Characters

The Wardens

     Warden Rufus

The Warden of Imp City is a dangerous, unpredictable wolf who likes his pipe, his guns, and his schedule. For some, he can be very friendly, amicable, charitable and fair is he wants to be. To others he is cold, ruthless, terrifying and willing to do whatever it takes to get his way. As a warden, it is his duty to maintain what passes for peace in Sheol, or the lowest section of the Pride Ring, as the upperclass of the realm care little about the going ons in their cities. It’s because of his unpredictable nature, that he manages to run his city effectively, keeping everyone in line at all times.

  • Action Dad: Chapter 33, reveals he used to have a daughter, Sofia, when he was alive. She died alongside him.
  • Affably Evil: Rufus often tows the line between this and Faux Affably Evil, depending on who he's dealing with. He is very friendly towards Loona, Millie, Andromeda, Yoshimo and to a lesser extent Octavia, though is cold and ruthless towards Blitzo, Verosika and most others he encounters.
  • The Alcoholic: Rufus is fond of whiskey and tobacco. He's often seen smoking a pipe during his meetings with other demons.
  • The Apocalypse Brings Out the Best in People: It's during the Uproar, that we really see more of his kinder and merciful side, taking the time to help those he can, making sure those in his care are safe and doing everything he can to ensure the survival of Imp City, when Extermination Night comes. As a result, he also grows closer to Blitzo and his crew, as they start depending on each other to make it out alive. Eventually he comes to consider the imp as an actual friend, even breaking his contract freeing Blitzo of his loan.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: As the Warden and peacekeeper of Imp City, it is Rufus' duty to make sure the daily chaos of one of Hell's roughest districts remains stable enough to conduct long-standing business for local crime lords and demon royalty. And he lives up to his title, running this ruthlessly but perfectly, not afraid to down and dirty to take care of any problems that may arise in his city.
  • Battle Strip: Takes off his overcoat before fighting Stolas.
  • Beware of Vicious Dog: As Warden of Imp City, Rufus lives up to his title and trope, ruling over the city with ruthless efficiency and a cold seriousness to anyone who’s stupid enough to cross him. He’s even skilled enough to catch an enraged Stolas by surprise with a clever moment of political outmaneuvering at gunpoint.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Warden Rufus can be a fairly amicable weird wolf, if a bit unpredictable at times, but there's a reason why he's the one in charge of Imp City. He can easily take care of anyone disturbing the peace and is skilled enough, to get a drop on Stolas.
  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Rufus is the brooding, serious work focused boy, to Yoshimo's gentle, flashy and caring girl.
  • Bullet Catch: Catches a bullet with his teeth in Chapter 25, during his fight with the Grevious Brothers' gang.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Even when an enraged Stolas has him by the neck and could easily kill him, Rufus has no problem taunting Blitzo to his face and threatening the prince with little to no care in the world.
  • Catch and Return: Catches a bullet aimed at his head, with his TEETH and spits it back at the would-be attacker.
  • Combat Medic: Has to hastily rush in to patch up Blitzo, after he's dealt a painful blow by one of Mother's monsters, doing his best in getting all of the imp's falling organs back in place and then tying the wound together with a part of his magical cloth.
  • Cool Car: Rufus drives a custom 1929 Duesenberg he calls Ruby. He loses it while escaping to Stolas' keep when Extermination hit early.
  • Clocks of Control: Rufus is a talented clocker maker, and keeps hundreds of clocks & watches in his office, symbolizing his ruthless and efficient control of Imp City. He despises it when people waste is time and is extremely punctual in his methods.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Before his death, Rufus was a clockmaker forced to become a gunsmith for Germany in order to stay alive and keep his family feed during the Second World War. He eventually became quite good at the task, but became consumed by money, power and greed and started neglecting his family for his work, thus deteriorating his relationship with them. When they finally confronted him about it at his workplace, there was an accident at his plant, and he had to watch as his family were painfully killed, his wife Rachel dying the explosion, his daughter Sofia getting crushed under the rubble, and then himself, were painfully killed. And while his wife and daughter ascended into Heaven, he went to Hell forever separating them from each other.
  • Death Glare: Gives a nasty one to Alastor, when the Radio Demon shows up at Octavia's Birthday Party.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: He calmly demonstrates how easily he can kill Prince Stolas with an unloaded gun, when the prince tries to ban him from hurting Blitzo, by exploiting his love for the imp.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Discovering he killed Polaris, telling her sister Andromeda and having her almost kill him, is enough to finally break the Warden, causing him to almost push aside Yoshimo on their date, to drown himself in glasses of alcohol, until she finally stops him.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Chapter 28 reveals, that many of his fellow. Wardens, in particular Slagger, look down upon Rufus, due to him running the smallest and lowest ranked capital in the Ring of Pride.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Despite his sometimes cold and brutal nature, the warden has many friends and allies, such as Loona, Millie, Andromeda, most other hellhounds, and Captain Yoshimo. When he was alive, he had a wife and daughter…before they were tragically killed by his greed.
  • Every Scar Has a Story: He got his signature scar across his eye and face, from when he died with his family. After watching his wife and daughter die in front of him, he was himself killed and scarred from shrapnel flying into his face from an exploding powder magazine.
  • Expressive Shirt: Rufus prefers his basic cream shirt with red waistcoat and trousers, but is seen wearing different colored suits depending on the occasion and mood, red for Work, blue for mediation, purple and dark green for relaxation, etc.
  • A Father to His Men: Rufus may be gruff and vicious to those who cross him and can't pay him his dues on time, but he is very caring and loyal to those under his employee. In particular the hellhounds, whom he sees as his most loyal men and secondary family.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: In life he was a simp clockmaker…who then became one of Germany's gunsmiths during World War II…and then in death, became the ruthless Warden of Imp City.
  • Foil: To Alastor, of all demons. The two are similar in many ways. Both are similarly jealous of their territory, their reputation, and those who fall under their territorial borders, but their approach to Hell is wildly different. Alastor and Rufus stand as reminders of what the other could be if he learned to put others' concerns before his own or gave into the allure of his own power, respectively. Alastor is a consummate performer who will lie to anyone and everyone (including himself) to get what he wants. Rufus will play straight with anyone he deems worthy of the same courtesy and readily owns every evil thing he did on earth, his atrocities before becoming a Warden, and those he continually commits in the name of upholding infernal Law and Order. Rufus runs himself ragged policing his city while Alastor blithely enjoys his seat of power.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: Warden Rufus is described as having a massive, ugly scar that starts from his missing left ear, going through his eye, his mouth, and across his whole body.
  • Glass Eye: Warden Rufus is described as having one normal and one magical eye that can move independently.
  • Guns Akimbo: Rufus prefers to use two guns at a time. He is especially fond of revolvers for their simple, practical design.
  • Gun Nut: Warden Rufus forges and owns several guns, including holy ones, and is more than happy to use them at any given notice.
  • Hidden Depths: While no mater, Rufus is very skilled at playing the piano.
  • Hypocrisy Nod: When Stolas brings up his hypocrisy over being disgusted by Alastor's cannibalism, Rufus defends himself by saying he only does it to strike fear in his foes and keeping the citizens in line; whereas the Alastor enjoys it, even for cannibals in Hell.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: He is said to have eaten several demons, during his time as Warden of Imp City. We finally get to see him do so in Chapter 25, where he devours the remains of the butchered Grevious Brothers, when they try to kill him in his own home.
  • Inelegant Blubbering: Rufus is stoic to a fault, but when he's finally reunited with his daughter Sofia in Chapter 60 for the first time in over 80 years he understandably cries like a baby.
  • I've Come Too Far: Rufus turns down Charlie's offer of redemption, saying it would mean abandoning his post and friends, as well as he can't forgive himself for all his crimes and feels that he deserves to be in Hell.
  • Ignore the Fanservice: Rufus is not swayed by Verosika attempts to use her charm to allow Vortex to bodyguard her for her next tour. He is however, very attracted to Yoshimo's convincing him to take a break from work.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Is finally taken out of the battle against Mother's army, when a weakened but still alive King, impales him through the chest with one of his tentacles.
  • It Amused Me: Part of the reason why Rufus agreed to loan money to Blitzo, so he could fund I.M.P., was because he loves to prove other people wrong. And the idea of a lower class imp-like Blitzo managing to run a successful business, despite the rest of Hell not believing in him, is amusing enough for the Warden to allow it to continue.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: For all his brutal honesty, efficiency and treatment of I.M.P., he usually often has a grain of reason for his actions. While he takes his torture of Blitzo too far, it's only cause the imp is often late on payments, which the Warden is legally entitled to as co-founder and his impulsive decisions. And while his Training from Hell was brutal, especially him leading them directly into Lucifer's menagerie, where many dangerous monsters lurk, Rufus knows the monsters in Mother's realm will no doubt be worse, and he wants to make sure the team is able to handle themselves and hopefully make it out alive in the terrifying location.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: When we first meet the warden, he is portrayed in an almost mysterious light. He's amicable towards Loona & Octavia, though with a almost sinister and manipulative undertone, and is shown to be a bitter rival to Blitzo, not afraid to torture him to get what he wants. But as we see more of them, and he grows closer to the girls, we start to see more of this kinder, selfless, loyal and almost heroic come to show. This becomes especially true, during the latter half of the story, where Rufus gets more chances to show his caring, selfless side, risking his own wellbeing to ensure the safety of the girls, and his strong friendships with the people closest to him.
  • Kill the Ones You Love: While not directly responsible, Rufus played a large part in the death of his life and daughter, as his greed workaholic tendencies lead to a fight at his plant, where the explosion that killed all three of them took place.
  • Knowledge Broker: Having been at this job for a long time, Rufus knows almost everything that goes on in his city. And even things that occur beyond it. And he's willing to reveal some of it in exchange for a fair bargain.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: In exchange for entry to the Archive, Rufus had to give up all of his memories of the first 5 years of his daughters life. While he can remember the days fine, everything involving her is a blur. To add insult to injury, while he cannot remember the good times, he can remember the bad stuff, like her first spanking, when he snapped at her and when he missed her birthday.
  • Loan Shark: As Blitzo turned to Rufus for the loan to start I.M.P. at 19% interest, the imp frequently owes the warden money for work for the startup and weapon repairs. And the warden can get quite violent, when he isn't payed what he's owed.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Early in the story, Rufus is not at all afraid to do anything to achieve his ends and come out on top. While this is shown primarily in his early dealings with Blitz, other characters, particularly Stolas and Alastor, note that he used to be even worse, up to and including selling hellhounds for profit.
  • Morality Pet: As the Warden spends more time with the Octavia, he starts to become fond of her, not just for her personality and boldness to go against the status quo, but because he sees her as a positive step in the right direction for Hell's future.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Has this reaction, when he finds Polaris' body and realizes he was the one responsible for her death, when he shot her along with a large gathering of maddened demons, during his fight through the streets with I.M.P.
  • My Greatest Failure:
    • Even years after their deaths, Rufus deeply regrets letting his greed consume him in life, accidentally causing the death of his family; his daughter's death in particular haunts him to this day.
    • Has a second one, as he deeply regrets not using his money and influence to try and save the life of Karl, his male affair, in fear of getting himself exposed and killed, not even putting up a fight when Management ordered him to kill his secret lover.
  • Nazi Protagonist: While never explicitly confirmed in the story, Rufus is very heavily implied to have made his earthly fortune working as a weapons designer for the Third Reich. Despite seeing the horrors of World War I first hand and not believing in their cause, he sacrificed his morals in the pursuit of wealth and power, making him a Nazi of the Opportunistic Bastard variety, a failing that personally offends Alastor, of all demons.
  • Necktie Leash: Yoshimo is very fond of grabbing Rufus by his tie.
  • Noose Necktie: Rufus fashions this when preparing to patrol Imp City with Extreme Prejudice, most notably during the Uproar and the grand finale.
  • Not So Stoic: After hardly ever showing his vulnerable and broken side to anyone, we finally get to see him shaken, broken and almost hopeless near the end of Chapter 29; after finding out what he did to Polaris. He vents his frustrations and guilt to Captain Yoshimo, showing just how beaten up he feels inside, after doing his best to try and save those closest to him, only for it not to be enough to keep Polaris alive. This continues on after Octavia's death, where the warden is equally saddened and shaken from it.
  • Pet the Dog: For all his ruthlessness, Warden Rufus has several moments of kindness that keep him from being completely unlikeable. These include his close and real friendships with Millie, Loona and Andromeda, and him having a soft spot for hellhounds. He even fixes Octavia's shears and gifts the princess her own gun, when she stops by in Chapter 11.
  • Power Loss Depression: Briefly enters a gloomy funk and isolates himself with drink, after losing much of his artificer abilities as a result of his injuries. This leaves him unable to finish most of his work, except for Octavia's Krampusnacht gift, which he decides to complete with his natural skills.
  • Queer Establishing Moment: Is revealed to be more than just Heterosexual in Chapter 43, when we learn he had an affair with a man named Karl.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Rufus' relationship with Yoshimo starts out as a secret, hidden affair, kept mostly to themselves to avoid drama and conflict at work. Then after the uproar, the two start becoming more open about it and finally by the end of Chapter 52, the two are officially married with Lucifer himself performing the ceremonies at Yoshimo's insistence.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Rufus gives a pretty harsh one to Alastor in the Hotel Bar.
"Do you know what I think really pisses you off, Deer? I'm alive, I'm happy, and I'm a better man than you are. I'm a hungry monster with a purpose larger than myself. And you're on center stage with nowhere else to go, running your mouth and clinging to a Princess's passion project because you don't have anything else to fill eternity. And now, when Hell turns upside down and scares the piss out of us all, you come right for an old, reliable target to put a little spring in your step. Predictable. Reliable. Poking and prodding and playing the all-knowing asshole, and pissing me off so much I want to mount your head on the wall. I hope you're enjoying it while it lasts. When I'm done with this drink, I'll leave a tip, go sit with my new friends, and then go home to my Captain. And you'll still be here. All alone with your empire of cheap, tasteless meat, and your stagnant little radio show, and so much power that you don't know what to do with yourself other than talk to a mirror. I'll be kissing my woman while you're here with nothing but your thoughts for company. A man can change. A monster can't. So you'll stay here, making a nuisance of yourself, like the narcissistic, self-centered little brat you are because after almost one hundred years in Hell, you're still too in love with your own ego to realize that your life is as empty as your glass while mine is overflowing. You're just a lonely monster clown who climbed the mountain of dead bodies only to find that there's no one left to enjoy his show. I'd almost feel sorry for you, if you weren't so pathetically needy."
  • Revolvers Are Just Better: When asked by Blitzo why he's always using revolvers, rather than something bigger and deadlier as a typical German would want, Rufus simply states that he like them because they don't jam.
  • Secret Relationship: Is in the midst of a deep romantic affair with his superior Captain Yoshimo. It is rather obvious to his peers but a secret to the civilians.
  • Sympathetic Adulterer: Played with. Rufus admits to have cheated on his living wife, with one of his assistants, a man by the name of Karl, during a night of drinking and celebration over making a perfect rifle. Rufus is deeply regretful over his actions, but not even to save his affair when Karl's true sexuality was discovered and he was ordered to kill him, to keep his role in the deed a secret. When he meets Karl in Hell, the sinner's understandably not forgiving of his cowardice and spits in his face.
  • Threatening Mediator: Plays this role to Blitzo & Verosika in Chapter 9.
  • Took a Level in Kindness:
    • At least, to Loona & Octavia as he starts giving them special treatment and being protective towards them, as he grows closer to the girls. When the Uproar happens and he's forced to work with Blitzo, Stolas and I.M.P., he ends up making them his deputies and grows more attached to them as they fight to survive and fight on. This is then fully cemented in Chapter 38, where he calls Blitzo and his coworkers his friends and ends his loan, by destroying the contract keeping the imp and his company tied to him.
    • Chapter 37 reveals he used to be much worse towards the Hellhounds during his first years in Hell, before eventually softening up and becoming one of their main benefactors.
  • Undying Loyalty: Rufus is very loyal to his superior and secret lover Captain Yoshimo, willing to put his life on the line to make sure she is safe.
  • Ultimate Blacksmith: Among Rufus' many talents, one of his strongest is clock making and weapon forging. He's frequently the one I.M.P. turns to when they need to repair with guns.
  • Waistcoat of Style: Rufus' preferred daily wear is a double-breasted waistcoat over a dress shirt rolled to the elbows.
  • Wants to Be Hated: When Octavia brings up to Rufus, that most of Hell hates him, the Warden is quite pleased with the news; in his mind hatred and fear are handy shortcuts to respect, which comes in handy in his line of work.
  • Wardens Are Evil: Played with. While note fully evil per say, it is Rufus' job to ensure his city is kept in peace and order, and he's willing to be ruthless and cold, to ensure that's the case. Even if it means killing, threatening or brutalizing people for it.
  • The Watchmaker: He was one in his past life, before turning to making guns in order to survive during the Second World War. After his death and becoming a Warden, he still enjoys fixing and making clocks in his spare time.
  • Workaholic: Rufus can often become lost in his work, spending hours fixing guns and maintaining controls, making him neglect to treat himself from time to time.
     Captain Yoshimo

A peahen demon and Rufus’ superior, Warden Captain Yoshimo Khantun helps to maintain order and peace throughout Pride's capital, Pentagram City. She runs her outpost like a mortal police station and boasts several seargents and higher level demons under her command. She is quite close to Warden Rufus and just as effective in her methods.

  • Age-Gap Romance: The nearly 800 year old Yoshimo is in a romantic relationship with Rufus, a man just over 120. Given that it's Hell, those who know about it don't much care.
  • Agent Peacock: Yoshimo is decidedly flashy. On top of her glorious blue-green train, she dresses in elegant and expensive clothes, wields exquisite masterwork weaponry, and is as beautiful as she is badass.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: As the Captain of the Wardens, she maintains order in Pentagram City, the largest metropolis in the sprawling Pride Ring. Though she can be quite over-the-top with her methods, she's still effective in her job managing to keep everyone under her in line.
  • Badass Boast: Drops quite the epic one towards a massive army of Mother's legions:
"VILE BEASTS! I AM YOSHIMO KHANTUN! QUEEN OF DIS! DESTROYER OF NATIONS! YOU HAVE SOILED MY TERRITORY AND TAKEN MY HUSBAND! AND NOW I SHALL SEE YOU BEG FOR DEATH!!!”
  • Blade Enthusiast: She prefers to do her work with serrated weapons, including her beak.
  • Blessed with Suck: It is revealed that she considers her peahen body to be this. Having a beak means that she cannot eat like when she was alive and her feathers make cleaning very annoying. She emphasizes this point by pecking a hole into her canned drink afterwards.
  • Break Them by Talking: This seems to be her preferred method of domination. She successfully does this to Steve the arms dealer when Rufus brings him in for questioning. She manages it again with Alastor much later when he's recruited for Octavia's rescue by revealing she not only sought out his mother, the Captain formed a strong enough connection to know how the woman truly felt about the murderous son who adored her in life. It's enough to leave Alastor briefly speechless.
  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: While Yoshimo's not exactly gentle, she does play a caring supportive role to the otherwise work focused and serious Rufus.
  • Celebrity Endorsement: While Yoshimo's true passion is split between the performing arts and her peacekeeping duties, she also uses her beauty to sell a variety of ice cream products throughout Hell.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: In life she was a loving mother in China, married to a husband she tolerated. Then the Mongol invasions occurred and a khan attempted to conqueror their village, poisoning their waters and killing their men, though being unable to make it past the walls. When Yoshimo and her family attempted to flee, they were captured and she offered them access into the city in exchange for her and her son's life. In turn their village was conquered and Yoshimo spent the rest of her mortal life as the Khan's wife.
  • Feathered Fiend: Played with. Captain Yoshimo can be quite cruel and malicious when she wants to be, but acting as the Captain of the Wardens and one of the main sources of order in Hell, it's all in service of the security of the Rings.
  • Feather Flechettes: While not used as often as her blades, Yoshimo sports a long series of razor sharp feathers that she uses as throwing knives.
  • Foreign Cuss Word: When Yoshimo confront Rufus over him coming to Octavia & Loona's defense during their stay at Vox's Club, she angrily calls him a "bèndàn."translation
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Started out as an unimportant mother in a loveless marriage, was then forced into becoming the concubine of an invading Khan, and when she went to Hell, having to start as a whore, used the skills and tactics she learned from the mongols to ascend into the rank of Captain of Hell's Wardens.
  • Older Than They Look: The Captain is stated to be one of the older mortal demons in Hell, having served with Ghenghis Khan during his conquest of Asia, putting her at almost 800 years old. This is quite old for a mortal, but pales in comparison to someone like Stella, who's stated to be over a thousand.
  • Hot as Hell: She's a tall, glossy avian with big, soulful eyes and pleasing curves who likes to show a distracting amount of leg, partially to distract her enemies.
  • An Ice Person: Not only does she enjoy ice cream quite a lot, even providing her likeness for ads, she is shown being able to create and manipulate ice during the final battle.
  • Improvised Bandage: Makes one for her broken arm in Chapter 59, so that she can see Rufus. While still in healing and doing poor job at it too, as she tears up two stitches while wearing it.
  • Large Ham: The captain can be quite theatrical and grand, being also the head of serval operas in Hell. She is not above using victims, as bloody props for whatever shows she’s running at the time.
  • My Name Is Inigo Montoya: "VILE BEASTS! I AM YOSHIMO KHANTUN! QUEEN OF DIS! DESTROYER OF NATIONS! YOU HAVE SOILED MY TERRITORY AND TAKEN MY HUSBAND! AND NOW I SHALL SEE YOU BEG FOR DEATH!!!”
  • The Patient Has Left the Building: While she doesn't try to escape the hospital, she does leave her bed without approval from her doctors, still horribly injured and with her arm in a makeshift sling, in order to check up on Rufus.
  • Pragmatic Pansexuality: Yoshimo has seduced men and women to achieve what she wants. She offered herself to a Khan to spare her & her son's life, and in Hell seduced the wife of her first owner in order to kill him and take over the brothel.
  • Queer Establishing Moment: During her recounting of her past, Yoshimo revealed she's seduced both men AND women to gain her rise to power. In particular the wife of her first owner, whom she manipulated into helping her overtaking his brothel.
  • Razor Wings: Her tailfeathers are serrated and she delights in using them during combat.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Marries her secret romantic partner and fellow law keeper of Hell, Rufus, in Chapter 52.
  • Secret Relationship: Has one with Warden Rufus.
  • Self-Made Man: Her time in Hell, made her from a nobody to the captain of Hell's most powerful lawmakers. When she arrived, she was forced to become the dancer for a fallen sultan and then a call girl at a brothel, before killing her owner and taking over the place. After turning it into a lucrative business, she slowly achieved enough power and eventually was given the choice of becoming Overlord or Captain. She chose the latter and has held command over much of Hell and the Wardens ever since.
  • Sweet Tooth: Yoshimo is very fond of ice cream and provides her likeness for dessert advertisements shown throughout Hell.
  • Walking Armory: In addition to her deadly tail fan, Captain Yoshimo wears titanite fighting claws and elegant gauntlets. She also carries at least one sword while on patrol.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Is prone to say this to Rufus, whenever he's doubting himself.

     Warden Kovu

In life an African Warlord, in death a Lion-like Warden of Hell, Warden Kovu is a might, strong and amicable figure who is quite close with his fellow Warden Rufus. His territory covers the industrial parts of Pride.

  • Authority Sounds Deep: This warden is said to have a low, powerful and booming voice, being fitting fancasted as James Earl Jones.
  • Panthera Awesome: Is a large, muscular Anthropomorphic Lion-Man, who also acts as one of the six wardens and caretakers of Hell and it's laws, serving under the ruling royal imps.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: After hearing about what happened to the Dog Park from Rufus, he offers the hellhounds there to work for him temporarily at the Foundry until the place is rebuilt.

    Other Wardens

The other Wardens that oversee Hell and help out with maintaining order in Pride. Just like Rufus, Yoshimo and Kovu, they were also former Sinners that signed up to keep the peace. They consist of:

  • Vapula the griffin who watches over Western District.
  • Slaggar the komodo dragon demon, Warden of Sin City.
  • Volthor the goat demon, who guards Alexandria, the intellectual hub of Hell.
  • Leon the skunk demon. He replaced his superior Jacques who died in the Uproar.

  • Foreshadowing: Volthor doesn't have a Goetia as his superior unlike the others. This is because he is actually Mephistopheles. He went out to the mortal world at the dawn of history and wound up dying as a mortal. This prevented him from resuming his original post by Lucifer's side, so he was entrusted with protecting the Archive instead.
  • Killed Offscreen: Leon got killed in the Uproar before the debut of the other Wardens.
  • Minor Major Character: Are fellow Wardens like Rufus and Yoshimo. However, the story isn't from their point of view. They mainly exist to help out with rebuilding Hell and showing the realm's politics to the readers.

Dog Park

A district inhabited mainly by hellhounds trying to make a living for themselves. This is the home of Vortex and his pack. Rufus is a close friend of theirs as he spent a good portion of his time helping out their welfare.

     Vortex
See Returning Faces above.

     Andromeda

Vortex's though-as-nails girlfriend. When she’s not busy at her chop shop, she’s often leading her boyfriend’s gang while he’s away on jobs. She’s a powerfully built hellhound, though a friendly one, once you get to know her.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Her friends mainly call her "Andy".
  • Amazonian Beauty: Being a mechanic with her own chop shop, it's no wonder that Vortex's girlfriend, is a heavyset muscular woman, capable of breaking demons in half.
  • Broken Pedestal: In chapter 28, Andy is very pissed at Rufus, for abandoning her and the rest of the hellhounds, during the first few days of the madden Hell, to take care of Octavia and check up on Yoshimo. While she seemed mostly over it by the end, she falls fully into this in the following chapter, when she finds out Rufus unknowingly killed her sister Polaris, when she attacked him & I.M.P. during their track through Hell; she nearly ends up killing him and declares she will never forgive him, before breaking into grief stricken tears.
  • Cannot Kill Their Loved Ones: When her aunt Nebula went crazy during the uproar and started attacking her friends, they were forced to bring her down. However Andy couldn't bring herself to kill her loving aunt, after having lived with her for so long, forcing Vortex to do it. The experience still haunts the hellhound to this day.
  • Delinquent Hair: Sports an electric pink mohawk.
  • Forgiven, but Not Forgotten: After the Extermination, Andromeda makes peace with Rufus saying that, while she can never forget that he killed her sister, despite knowing why he had to and understanding the unfair circumstances, with time she'll be able to forgive him as it's what Polaris would've wanted.
  • Relationship Upgrade: She and Vortex become engaged to each other in Chapter 52.
  • Team Mom: Serves this role to her friend group and team of hellhounds, keeping him in-line and out of trouble, when Vortex isn't around.
  • Wrench Wench: Andromeda is a mechanic, often seen with large wrenches, and has a chop shop which she has successfully kept on running for five years.

    Other pack members

Other hellhounds that make up the pack. Their names are Polaris, Castor, Pollux, Jarvis, Stormy, Capella, Nash, Archer, Rigel and Nova.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Polaris often goes by "Polly".
  • Back for the Finale: Vortex, Andromeda, Stormy, Castor and Pollux were called by Rufus to help him and Loona in forging the weapons needed to withstand Mother's realm.
  • Heinous Hyena: Castor and Pollux are a pair of spotted hyenas. Subverted in that they are nice instead of evil.
  • Killer Bear Hug: Stormy gives Rufus a crushing hug in Chapter 59, when he finally returns from his big mission. This one is especially painful, as the warden was currently suffering from multiple injuries, having spent weeks in recovery prior ro their reunion.
  • Mauve Shirt: Polaris and Jarvis died in the Uproar.

Others

     Reginald

The Eagle demon who acts the the Head of Staff at Stolas' estate. He's usually seen serving Stella, acting as a sort of confidant at times.

  • Battle Butler: Joins princess Stella along with Pringles, during the destruction of Hell to take back Octavia from all the monsters on the run. When they meet up, during the giant dragon fight, he even manages to shot out one of its eyes.
  • Hired Help as Family: Reginald are basically considered extended members of Prince Stolas and Stella's family, given how loyal he and many of the other servants have been to them over the years. Reginald in particular is this to Stella, even accompanying her when she briefly decides to stay with her brother in Sloth.
  • The Jeeves: He is the Head of Staff at Stolas' estate and the favorite servant to Stella.
  • Old Retainer: Reginald has been working for Stella's family since he was a child, having succeeded his father after his death. As such, he is very loyal to the family, and especially Stella, accompanying her to Sloth, when she decides to live with her brother after her loss.
  • Tragic Keepsake: After Octavia's death, he kept a small handmade mug, he helped her make when she was young, with his name written on it, still drinking from it and remembering it fondly.
  • Undying Loyalty: Is loyal to a fault to Stella, being her main butler and accompanying her everyone. Even to Sloth when she goes to live with Andrealphus, after Octavia's death. His loyalty to her comes not only from his long servitude to the family, but because he sees her as the best royal from her family, due to her intellect, love for her family and pride.
     Oz

Oz is one one of Rufus' right hand men, sent to warn those who fall behind on their debts to the Warden. Unfortunately, Blitzo happens to be a favorite target of his.

  • Asshole Victim: Considering what he does to Blitzo on a frequent basis, only Rufus mourns his death.
  • Evil Debt Collector: Oz, one of Rufus' right-hand men, confronts Blitzo in Chapter 3 demanding the money he owes the Warden, threatening him with violence and sexual assault if he doesn't cough up soon.
  • Killed Offscreen: Meets his end, being splattered and broken, during the first wave of madness that goes over Hell.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: Oz's introduction in Chapter 3, where he confronts the imp over his late payments, is riddled with hints that the dinner wants to force himself onto the imp. Unlike Stolas' perverted phone calls in the show this is not played for laughs and come off as incredibly creepy and chilling.
  • Skull for a Head: Oz's head is described as having the skull of a thylacine.

     Kris

Kris is the part-accountant of I.M.P. and one of the few non-hellborn demons working there. He is friendly and hardworking, though rarely ever joins the team on missions.

  • Put on a Bus: Kris is unable to join I.M.P. for a mission in Chapter 23, as he's currently vacation with Mrs. Mayberry.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Kris is an original character made for the fanfic, who only first appears in Chapter 5, but everyone acts as he has always been a part of the group. Justified as him working part-time, and thus isn’t always around for the team’s exploits.

     Drakon Borowski (Drake)

Drakon Borowski, one of Warden Rufus' kingpins; a bear sinner and who's a proficient and deadly mercenary. So much so that he is in charge of one of Pentagram City's more successful mercenary groups. He's a terrifying monster…at least, when he's not busy fawning over Verosika Mayday. He also goes by Drake.

  • Bears Are Bad News: Not only is Drakon is a large, bear sinner, he's also the head of one of the most successful mercenary groups of Pentagram City.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Manages to save I.M.P. and kill off the remaining three Trolls, after they barley manage to defeat the leader of the brood.
  • Fanboy: Despite his scary appearance, the towering, mercenary bear is a big fan of Verosika Mayday. Enough so, that he's secretly hopes that the succubus can sign his body pillow for him.
  • Embarrassing Hobby: Drake is very open about his fan love and crush on Verosika Mayday. Something his coworkers tease him about to no end.
  • Genre Savvy: When offered to join them for the Barlow assignment, Drake is hesitant to join, as he realizes that a job this big and bountiful means it's either a set-up, a political job or a last resort.
  • Husky Russkie: This massive bear speaks in a Russian accent and is a top-tier assassin with his own company.
  • What Does She See in Him?: Drake is extremely shocked to learn that Blitzo used to be the partner of Verosika, his celebrity crush and favorite Pop Star. He refuses to believe that he could've been with her, firmly believing the imp seduced her.

     Slaanesh

Slaanesh is everything one might expect of a spoiled Goetia Princess. The daughter of Duchess Anduriel, the classmate and former friend of Octavia, is self-centered, boastful, arrogant, annoying and vain, caring more about her image than most of the people around her.

  • Alpha Bitch: Right from her introduction Slaanesh is shown in a negative light. She's almost wholly indifferent to Octavia and only spends time with her due to obligation, is more interested in gossip than studies and is very, openly racist towards hellhounds and imps.
  • Rich Bitch: Given that her father is Goetian royalty and she goes to the same class as Octavia, there's little doubt that she's rich. In terms of personality, she is extremely self-centered and racist, so she also has the bitch part down.
  • Royal Brat: As the daughter of Prince Vassago, she is very spoiled, vain and pampered.
  • Shadow Archetype: She is everything Octavia would've been if the latter gave in to her Goetian upper-class upbringing. A spoiled royal princess brat that looks down on the lower classes with zero empathy.
  • Snake People: Slaanesh is a snake naga-like demon, with a cobra's hood.

     Diana

The grandmother of Stella & Andrealphus, Diana is considered the Black spot of the family due to being a swan and a queen in the position of power in the Ring of Violence. She is also the loving, mother-figure of Stella's life. One of the few she had in her life.

  • Apron Matron: She's the grandmother of Stella & Andrealphus, who despite her age still commands a great deal of respect amongst the Ring of Violence.
  • Black Sheep: Is viewed as such by everyone in Stella's family, other than the swan herself, for not only being a swan, but by taking her late husband's place in the battlefield and becoming one of the few ruling Ars Goetia in the Ring of Violence.
  • Cool Old Lady: When she was a young duchess, Diana took her husband's place in the battlefield shortly after his death, not only fighting abut winning the fight, over legions of Heaven's armies, and being responsible for several major victories during the fighting. When the war was over, and the courts of Hell debated on what to do with the war hardened swan, Diana saved them the trouble, by crowning herself a queen of the Ring of Violence, something few Ars Goetias dared to do. Now an old Queen of the Ring of Wrath, she still commands respect and power amongst her kind, despite being seen unfavorably by her family.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Casually tells Lucifer to kiss her cunt, when he critises her for taking a break from her duties, much to Stella's shock.
  • Never Mess with Granny: In her youth she was a feared and powerful warrior woman, fighting actively on the battlefield, scoring several victories under her name and claiming herself the crown of Violence as a result. And she doesn't seem to have lost a hint of that spirit even in her elder years.
  • Parental Substitute: Diana was the closest Stella ever had to a loving paternal figure and role model in her life, especially compared to her actual uncaring parents; the young swan being inspired by her bravery and fearlessness in spite of battle, criticism and mockery. Even years later, when she's now old and no longer in her prime, she still loves her granddaughter, being one of the few to offer her comfort and sympathy, after Stella's tragic loss.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Went to war and won it as a duchess, and as a queen commands over the Ring of Violence, keeping the savages in check, when no one else would.

WARNING: This character is a Walking Spoiler. All spoilers are unmarked.

     The Horror
Mother. The overarching Horror that looms over the story, never seen in full but talked about numerous times and haunting the characters throughout the story. Especially Octavia. She and her kind have been around since before there was a hell, born with an insatiable hunger that drives them to consume everything in their path. Though trapped in her realm, her cult aims to free her and unleash her hunger upon Hell, Earth and beyond, thus causing the Uproar and taking of Octavia.

  • The Ageless: She, along with others of her kind, are said to be so old they predate the stars and Hell itself.
  • Big Bad: Mother is the main antagonist of the whole story. Her cultists are the ones I.M.P. spend the first half killing, they're the ones who cause the Uproar that nearly destroys all of Hell, and she's the one stalking Octavia and has her kidnapped, wanting to break her, which would open their dimension and allow her to escape into the rest of reality. Wherein she can feed of all of existence.
  • Big Eyes, Little Eyes: Her sole eye is massive, easily bigger than Octavia's entire body.
  • Brown Note Being: Just seeing her in person, is enough to drive anyone absolutely insane or even grease their very existence. When she finally shows up in person near the end of Chapter 58, the rescue party are quick to revert their gaze, catching only vague glimpses of her, so as to not go mad.
  • Cyclops: Is said to have one, large, glowing daubed eye.
  • The Dreaded: How terrifying is Mother? Even Lucifer Morningstar himself, shivers at the though of her growing power.
  • Eldritch Abomination: A Large looming, sentient mass of tentacles and one, large, sole eye, straight out of one of Lovecraft's work. Capable of spawning smaller, horrifying monsters, invading other's dreams and minds, influencing them and causing others to go insane, longing to break free of its realm and consume everything.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: Mother is a Lovecraftian beast, covered in tentacles and a single eye, with an unending hunger, that's capable of birthing smaller but equally disturbing and monstrous horror. Her main goal is to break free of her realm, a task which requires Octavia and her group of followers, so that she can be unleashed onto the world's and consume everything there is.
  • Hidden Villain: As of the writing of this entry, we have yet to see much of Mother in her full terror. The most we've gotten so far is a large, endless mass of tentacles with a single, octopus-like eye.
  • Hungry Menace: Is described by Loona to always be hungry.
  • Invincible Villain: By their very nature all of the Elder Ones are neigh unkillable by most means, be it mortal, infernal or heavenly. Even Mother, the main one we see here, who's latter revealed to be one of the weaker Old Ones, is so powerful, not even Lucifer or God can match her.
  • Karma Houdini: Despite being the overarching villain of the whole story, her and her followers nearly destroying Hell midway through, Mother is so powerful and above everyone else, that she doesn't really suffer any consequences for her actions. The worst thing that happens to her by the end, is that Octavia is rescued, a good chunk of her monsters are killed and her attempt to escape is thwarted. And even then, it's made clear these are all minor setbacks, as being an ageless being, she has all the time in the world to attempt her schemes again some day.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Any amount of humor, levity or hope in this story, is drained the moment Mother or anything from her realm is referenced, shown or alluded to in anyway. The prime example of this is the Uproar, caused by her followers allowing a portion of her realm to leak through, nearly causing the end of civilisation, the collapse of several rings, demons and monsters of all kind to go mad, and everything to take a much more drastic turn. And it only gets worse from here, as she kidnaps Octavia, forcing the heroes to go save her, within her own terrifying realm.
  • One Bad Mother: Is exclusively referred to as Mother in the story.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Spends most of the story in the her home dimension, using her servants and cultists to do her dirty work, and never directly engages the heroes until the very end of Chapter 58, when they come to her world. Justified, as she is unable to escape from her reality, thus causing the whole reason for abducting Octavia. Even when they arrive in her world, she is so vastly beyond any of their power or understanding that to confront them directly, who be the equivalent to a human fighting an ant.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Mother remains trapped in her own realm, unable to break free and travel to other worlds. She longs to escape with some help from her cult and Octavia, with her being close to her goal, given how the uproar has affected Hell.
  • Tentacled Terror: Her body is covered in tentacles akin to something out of Lovecraft.
  • The Unfought: Despite the Big Bad of the story, never once do any of the protagonists engage Mother in direct combat, only fighting her army and minions towards the end. Extremely Justified, as she is LEAGUES beyond any of their level even together, with so much as a glare being enough to subdue almost all of them.
  • You Cannot Grasp the True Form: Looking upon Mother in all her form, is so otherworldly and beyond comprehension, it will drive a man insane at best. And down right end all of existence at worst. From the few glimpses we get from Stolas, we know she has one terrifying eye, insect legs, a sea of tentacles and a mass of screaming heads.
