The Squadron Supreme of America

This is America's superhero team and some of the mightiest beings in the universe. Nothing else compares to them as they'll fight any foe for the sake of America - whether its Eldritch Abomination, Cosmic Entity, Doctor Doom and his cronies, or a rebellious Canadian.

    In General

The Squadron Supreme of America

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/16ab18ea_6bed_4476_9f3e_29b55740acfa.jpeg
  • Adaptational Villainy: Most preceding incarnations of the Squadron Supreme were genuinely heroic for the most part and at worst clashed with the heroes of the Marvel Universe due to being misguided or brainwashed. Here, they're more or less rabid killers with no regard to the damage their heroics causes to those around them and are blatantly puppets of Mephisto. They essentially represent the worst traits of every other incarnation of the Squadron Supreme, especially their counterparts from Earth-313916.
  • Alternate Company Equivalent: As per usual, to the Justice League of America, though here it's exaggerated in that everything in the Marvel Universe is now designed to be exact copies of their supporting characters, villains, and lore. The fact that they are more villainous than previous incarnations makes the Squadron more akin to The Seven from The Boys in terms of overall amorality and disregard for civilian life as well as being backed by the American government.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: The Squadron are now somewhat worse than how they were portrayed in Supreme Power.
    • Hyperion is what Superman would be if A) he decided the third part of "truth, justice, and the American way" was more important than the other two and B) he let his power get to his head. While some people see him as most folks see the Big Blue Boy Scout, those who actually know him are well aware he's a self-righteous jingoistic jerk. This is especially prominent in the one-shot Peter Parker the Amazing Shutterbug where it's revealed he accidentally killed Aunt May by throwing a billboard at a villain and destroying the building she was in at the same time, and never even bothered to help clean up.
    • Blur is The Flash who's dealing with a serious case of Blessed with Suck. His brain is firing on all cylinders due to his Super-Speed, to the point where he owns forty-eight TVs and god knows how many other devices just to keep himself from going insane from boredom. It's also given him, in his own words, "the attention span of a hummingbird on meth", which very nearly costs him his soul when he gets distracted while livestreaming his own fight.
    • Doctor Spectrum is the answer to the question, "What if Green Lantern hated aliens with a nightmarishly burning passion?" And he is very vocal about his hatred of them: he turned the head of a Celestial into a prison for all of his enemies (with plans to execute them all once he gets around to it), regards every extraterrestrial being as inbred freaks, and even invokes Manifest Destiny as justification for everything he does.
    • Power Princess is Wonder Woman with an upbringing akin to Vikings as opposed to Amazons. She's incredibly violent, couldn't care less about civilians, is such an alcoholic she took Lady Liberty for her drinking room and the Siege Perilous to top off her martinis, and just about every enemy she's ever had is either dead or Taken for Granite and placed in her sculpture garden (also at Liberty Island).
    • Nighthawk is what Batman could have become in the aftermath of Jason Todd's death. The death of his partner Falcon, as depicted in Marvel Double Action, left Nighthawk severely jaded, detached, and a borderline Rabid Cop, to the point where when Miles Morales became the second Falcon, Nighthawk straight-up ordered him to get rid of the costume rather than take Miles on as his new protégé, with the threat of violence included if he does not comply.
  • The Dragon: They're the completely loyal and almighty henchmen to the office of President Coulson.
  • Dream Team: Blade is understandably impressed by them. They have the World's Strongest Man, the greatest investigator in the world, an omnipotent guy, the Fastest Thing Alive, the World's Best Warrior, ...and Skymax.
  • Pet the Dog: It was a rare moment of kindness for Power Princess and Doctor Spectrum in happily taking Kamala and Sam under their wing.
  • Showy Invincible Hero: In this fake reality, whether it's Eldritch Abominations and Cosmic Entities or upgraded super-villains, there's no one the Squadron can't beat and with a lot of flash. From Doctor Spectrum conjuring the Cancerverse on Rocket Raccoon before holding him into a supernova to Power Princess summoning her gauntlet painfully out of All-Gog's belly, expect the Squadron to win in style.

    Hyperion

Marcus Milton

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/102a5823_22b8_4001_a472_2ca466c085f7.jpeg
  • Alliterative Name: As always, his civilian name is Marcus Milton.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: In the briefing for the meeting that Power Princess initiated, Hyperion finally comes clean about encountering something odd during his battle with the escaped Negative Zone renegades. He mentions that he has great difficulty talking about things involving his feelings and is seeing the psychologist Doc Samson about this.
  • Death Is Cheap: He actually got killed by Weapon X when the latter's claws were enchanted. But Hyperion is the last Eternal - an immortal race that'll recover from otherwise deadly wounds, unless they're horrifically mutilating injuries to their bodies. A slit throat isn't one.
  • Domino Mask: This version wears a domino mask just as the original and his doppelganger did (the original Hyperion did eventually stop wearing one). It further accentuates Hyperion's menacing demeanor.
  • Evil Redhead: He is the most prominent member of the Squadron and was formerly a hero but has since become a villain.
  • Fight Off the Kryptonite: Despite constant Vibranium poisoning, he gives the Avengers their toughest fight - it took Thor, Black Panther, and Captain America to defeat him.
  • Friend to All Children: He appears to have a soft spot for them, at least, as he is highly protective of his students, and Power Princess at one point mentions that Hyperion talks about children as much as he does American history.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Despite his destructive and kill-happy actions, Hyperion honestly believes that all the death and destruction he causes is for the good of all. He honestly doesn't really like killing, and it’s noted that he had plenty of opportunity to kill the Hulk before ultimately doing it. During his fight with the Avengers, Hyperion begins screaming how all the death and destruction couldn't be for nothing.
  • Kryptonite Factor: Besides magic, he's vulnerable to Vibranium - a substance native to his planet, which is extremely toxic to him.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Nothing matches him as a bruiser and even the Silver Surfer doesn't come close to his superspeed.
  • Mutually Unequal Relation: Despite basically dismissing Peter Parker whenever they meet one another, it's revealed that Hyperion actually does consider him a friend. It's just that he can't communicate it and he doesn't have the self-awareness to realize Peter actually hates him for good reason.
  • Patriotic Fervor: He loves America to the point of madness. For example, why does he love his Eternal parents so much, even though he's never known them? Because they sent him to America as a baby before their world ended.
  • Physical God: He would have to be in order to take on the likes of Dr. Juggernaut, Hulk, and Galactus without breaking a sweat.
  • Superman Substitute: Being a Superman pastiche is the fundamental point of Hyperion's various incarnations, but this incarnation gives him a backstory with a Legion of Super-Heroes equivalent in the form of the Sh'iar Imperial Guard, reworking the Negative Zone into his version of the Phantom Zone, and giving him a Kryptonite Factor made up of magic and a mineral element native to his homeworld — in this case, Vibranium.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Which got him killed by Weapon X's little trick. Normally immune to Logan's adamantium claws, he got his throat cut when Logan temporarily had the claws enchanted by Shaman.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Hyperion doesn't handle it well when he's forced to confront that his reality was a fake one. Once reset into the "true" reality, he desperately seeks out Peter Parker because he thought of him as a friend after all.
  • The Unfettered: Not only is he quick to kill his opponents, but he’s completely remorseless about the innocents that get killed in the chaos of his reckless battles.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Hyperion just can't keep friends. Henry Pym, Bruce Banner, and the entire Sh'iar Imperial Guard all used to be friends with him and then they get corrupted or possessed, so he either kills or imprisons them. Mutant Force mentioned that some of their members used to be friends with the Squadron Supreme until the Mutant Massacre happened.
  • World's Strongest Man: Easily this when he can overpower a Cosmic Entity or two and outmuscles an enraged Hulk and one of the mightiest incarnations of the Juggernaut. The Beyonder even acknowledges him as the Mightiest Liar in the world.

    Nighthawk

Kyle Richmond

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/541455ff_14da_45af_947d_471826b85464.jpeg
  • Abnormal Ammo: Par for course for a vigilante superhero, he has some special Hawkarangs including one that's capable of cutting through Blade's katanas and then electrocutes the vampire before detonating a bomb on him.
  • Action Politician: He's a superhero and a politician. He uses Life Model Decoys to fill in for him when superheroics call.
  • Alchemy Is Magic: Only one case of it, but it's important. He gets his superhuman strength from an ancient alchemical potion.
  • Badass Normal: Averted, unlike the usual street-level vigilante archetype or even most of the other Nighthawk incarnations, this one has Super-Strength.
  • Batman Parody: Even more so than other incarnations.
  • Big Bad: Didn't take him long. In the Infinite Destinies event running through several different comics and happening shortly after Heroes Reborn, Nighthawk is already turning into the main villain as he kidnaps Nick Fury Jr. and is torturing the guy for knowledge about the Infinity Stones.
  • Dating Catwoman: He used to date Felicia Hardy. In Infinite Destinies, he actually goes after Black Cat and tries to convince her to side with him in his plan to recreate the world based on his world. She turns him down flat after noting that one key difference between their worlds is that her mom is alive in this one, but dead in Nighthawk's "perfect world".
  • Genius Bruiser: He's got the superhuman muscles of the Kyle Richmond of Earth-616 and the intelligence that all the other Kyle Richmonds has in one complete package.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Post Infinite Destinies, he's persuaded to join the Avengers, and helps save the multiverse from Mephisto. After everything's over, he goes back to hunting down the other members of the Squadron.
  • Hour of Power: When the sun goes down and only then (unlike the other Nighthawk from The Defenders) does Richmond have his Super-Strength. Otherwise, he has to rely on his impressive martial art skills and hawk-themed gadgets.
  • It's All About Me: When reality is restored, he sets out to restore Mephisto's world. As noted under Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist, this just means he cares more about his own ideal world rather than a real world.
  • Mask of Sanity: Deep inside Nighthawk is a timebomb of rage, to the point he admits he's very close to needing to be locked down in Ravencroft.
  • Master of All: Scientific genius, expert alchemist, master martial artist and the best investigator in the world.
  • Morality Chain: It's implied that Sam Wilson was this to Kyle and his death ended up causing Kyle to permanently snap.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: Kyle espouses the Squadron's world is better than the way it should be without Mephisto's influence, bitterly telling the Avengers their world was a mess. This is despite the fact that the Squadron's universe is a direct result of Mephisto being their God and that to ensure this world has peace the Squadron's repeatedly committed willing mass murder on and off Earth, plus showing little concern about collateral damage. This includes the fact that Canada is practically a barren wasteland and mutants have almost been hunted into near-extinction.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • He's a dick, but he's got his humane moments too, such as paying his respects to the fallen members of Secret Squadron and honoring his promise to Final Flight to release the Canadian POWs in return for Weapon X being served up.
    • Despite his rejection of Miles as his new crime-fighting partner, he did apparently end up training Gwen to become a hero in her own right.
  • Purple Is Powerful: He's one of the most powerful incarnations of Nighthawk and he wears a lot of purple in his suit.
  • Race Lift: Much like the one in Supreme Power, this Nighthawk is also African-American.
  • The Rival: He's the rival to the Squadron's alpha male, Hyperion. He even has a thing for Zarda.
  • Scary Black Man: Just as scary as the other ultra-violent, African-American Nighthawk from Supreme Power. But unlike that guy who was rather slim under the costume, this Kyle Richmond is big and heavily muscled.
  • Spanner in the Works: By Coulson's own design, Kyle was "programmed" to be a skeptic who didn't trust him, so he was already suspicious of the reality that Coulson created. Because of this, Blade was able to sense the doubt in Nighthawk and this convinced Blade that he was not crazy and gave him to motivation to restore reality.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: He actually does avoid killing. But it's not moral, his motive. He brings his enemies in alive so he can eventually fight them in the future as a form of self-help therapy.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Girl Power and Kid Spectrum both realize Nighthawk would beat the living shit out of Falcon (Miles Morales) if he ever got his hands on him.

    Power Princess

Zarda Shelton

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b6f40ddd_9b87_4f2b_801c_da92862b120f.jpeg
  • Action Girl: Powerful enough to defeat Gorr the God Butcher.
  • Amazonian Beauty: Much like previous incarnations, Power Princess is both beautiful and deadly.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: She's contemptuous of Hyperion's outside interests like American history and teaching children. But when Weapon X killed Hyperion, she gives an Anguished Declaration of Love before going to wreck Alpha Flight.
  • Battle Trophy: She'll turn her enemies into statues for her garden and take their belongings like the Siege Perilous mirror.
  • Been There, Shaped History: She was the one who killed Hitler in World War II, and in contemporary Marvel times, she was the one who defeated Gorr the God-Butcher instead of Thor.
  • The Blacksmith: Besides drinking, her other hobby is forging weapons out of things. She made a battle axe out of pieces of the Bifrost, crafted the invisible sword No-Blade and mentioned that she killed Illyana Rasputin with a sword forged from her brother's skin.
  • Blood Knight:
    • She lives for battle and slaughter, finding peace to be so boring that she contemplates starting another civil war between Hyperion and Nighthawk.
    • In the "Heroes Return" finale, Zarda is the only member of the Squadron who doesn't care upon learning that the reality they were living in was a lie. While all the other members go through different stages of an identity crisis, Zarda simply only cares about the impending fight with the Avengers.
  • Connected All Along: She has no idea who this drunk Asgardian god is, but Thor had actually encountered her multiple times in their long history. They first met when she was a little girl in a Utopian raid on a Viking village while he was almost passed out drunk. Since then she goes on to do great things while he was nearby, drinking himself unconscious.
  • Everyone Has Standards: As battle-happy as she is, she doesn't stoop to murdering innocent people (she didn't kill any of the Asgardians, though she didn't save any either) but she'll accept any excuse to "defend herself" or smite a villain.
  • Higher-Tech Species: Downplayed compared to the original Zarda and her Utopian people, who were extremely advanced technologically. There has been mention of the Utopians having some advanced technology, but otherwise they're spear and magic-using Ancient Grome-style savage amazons that got wiped out by disease.
  • It's All About Me: Gives precisely zero damns about anyone who's not her, most of the time.
  • The Lad-ette: Loves getting drunk, fighting people, getting booty call with Hyperion or Prince Namor and collecting/making weapons.
  • Long-Lived: A little kid in Viking times, it'll take thousands of years (possibly longer) for her to reach old age.
  • Nay-Theist: Zarda is rather contemptuous of the gods for getting wiped out in their own petty wars before All-Gog ate the survivors, so she feels humans should worship something worthier like herself.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: She ignores a flame attack from the Phoenix Force, getting hit by the Mjolnir is an annoyance and she's only slightly bloodied after taking being thrown around and gnawed on by All-Gog.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: She slays or petrifies all of her enemies, and outright states that she does not understand why her teammates (sans Doctor Spectrum, and even he jails at least some of his adversaries, albeit with the intention of executing them later) do not just immediately kill all of their foes.
  • Physical God: Only a few gods can match or exceed her unearthly strength and invulnerability. The rest of the gods of every pantheon are puny compared to her.
  • Purple Is Powerful: She's Power Princess, who's mightier than most gods and she wears a purple bodysuit.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The only female of the main Squadron.
  • Team Killer: Punches a hole in Ledger's chest because he bores her.
  • Token Evil Teammate: While none of the Squadron are remotely good to begin with, she's tied with Doctor Spectrum for most openly psychopathic member of the squad, even seriously considering getting Hyperion and Nighthawk to fight one another simply because she's bored.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Utopians apparently encouraged bringing little kids along on plundering. Zarda was chopping heads off with glee before she hit puberty.
  • Typhoid Mary: She unsuspectingly brought back a virus that killed every other Utopian.
  • Villain Respect: Thor wins a form of it from Zarda. She gave him what should be a Megaton Punch, a punch that's been known to take out the Hulk and all this punch does is smack Thor's beard off. That's it...he otherwise No Sells it and leaves to gather his thoughts. Zarda has since became obsessed with hitting him again.
  • Wonder Woman Wannabe: Even more so than most versions of her, what with her new outfit looking like a palette-swapped version of Wonder Woman's classic costume. Zarda now has her own version of the Lasso of Truth in the Chain of Veracity, which she tries to use on Hercules. When Frank Cho did a variant cover for Heroes Reborn that was a rehash of a Wonder Woman cover he did years ago.
  • World's Best Warrior: No one tops her in battle cunning and fighting skills, when she gets hit in a fight it's because she lets them before crushing her foes. Then there's her strength and invulnerability that goes beyond what most gods have.

    Doctor Spectrum

Joseph Ledger

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d1725f3a_d867_4d53_8699_8d428f8693ac.jpeg
  • Absolute Xenophobe: His defining trait, he believes that aliens are only fit for being subjugated or exterminated and he's got the power to have done both against entire alien civilizations, leaving this universe a lot emptier than in 616's.
  • A God Am I: "There's only one God and he's American." That's what Spectrum believes. He doesn't know the origin of the Power Prism but he thinks it's from God therefore he's something of an avatar to God himself (and in this world, he's correct as God here is Mephisto...).
  • Break the Haughty: The Curb-Stomp Battle given to him by the baby Starbrand results in his Power Prism destroyed, and is shown in the restored reality as a broken mess. Oh, and Starbrand wanted him to cry, so she got that.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He doesn't fight human children. This bites him in the ass against Starbrand, who's got a vendetta against him.
  • Even More Omnipotent: For the "crime" of believing themselves to be gods, Spectrum tore the head off a Celestial and he easily beats down a Thanos who has the Infinity Rings (which turn out to be second-rate against the Power Prism).
  • Humiliation Conga: Doctor Spectrum is arguably the vilest of the 5 members so it's only fitting that he gets the most humiliating treatment in defeat. While Hyperion and Blur are both treated more tragically and Power Princess and Nighthawk stay true to form, Spectrum spends a lot of the final issue crying after Starbrand destroys his Power Prism.
  • Logical Weakness: Without the Power Prism, Spectrum only has a little residual power. When M.O.D.O.K. psychically cut him from contact, he needed Kid Spectrum to save him. Starbrand wrecking the Power Prism means he's little more than a normal human now.
  • The Omnipotent: Doctor Spectrum's Power Prism pretty much allows him to do whatever he wants, though he usually sticks with manifesting objects with it.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: His Squadron Supreme of America counterpart from the main timeline objected to the programming that his fellow Squadron members were subjected to and only relented when Coulson activated his own code words. Here he is the worst of the team in terms of being a nationalistic jerkass.
  • Villain Respect: He surprised himself when he found himself actually liking Rocket Raccoon for his over-the-top creativity and dirty tactics.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Panics when Starbrand destroys the Power Prism.
Doctor Spectrum: No! My Power Prism! You can't—

    The Blur

Stanley Stewart

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d84c7eac_1646_4391_b059_27c6bdee637d.jpeg
  • Alliterative Name: Both his first and last names start with "St-"
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: He is so fast he describes himself as "having the attention span of a hummingbird on meth". And it's true, he has multiple TVs multiple phones for his off time, switches between hobbies in an instant, and even gets distracted in supervillain fights.
  • Blessed with Suck: Invoked in his focus issue, where he notes that his Super-Speed gives him an incredibly small attention span, leaving him constantly searching for stimulation. Defied in that he himself considers himself to be Cursed with Awesome because, even if he does pay for the speed with boredom, he also forgets things equally fast, so there's always something new for him to discover and distract himself with.
  • Break the Haughty: When reality reverts and some of the Squadron are arrested, Blur is a broken man. He went from beloved superhero to finding out that here - he's just some identity-less, devil-worshipping freak with no belly button. At the end of his interrogation, he's bawling and just wants to be sent back "home".
  • The Casanova: The guy is a serial womanizer. He carries multiple cellphones for the purpose of constant speed dating. And when he's up against female opponents like the Silver Witch and Aurora, he tends to get a bit flirty with them.
  • Comedic Relief Character: With two grim headliners, an extreme Blood Knight and a xenocidal madman, Blur knows his role on the team is as much to keep things light as being the team speedster.
  • Fastest Thing Alive: Nothing can match the Blur's speed, not Eternity and not Doctor Spectrum. When Silver Witch declared herself to be the Speedster Supreme, he thought about taking legal action against her as that's his title.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: He's almost always happy and only gets angry twice in this series (first when he finds most of the Secret Squadron getting killed and then he gave Wanda a bigger beating than usual, the second in the fight against Black Panther when he gets his hamstrings slashed - he gets furious and serious in his effort). He also falls into great despair when he's arrested and learns his whole life is a lie.
  • Secret Relationship: Turns out he used to be married to Mary Jane, before time-altering shenanigans screwed that up.
  • Super-Speed: Well, he IS the Expy for the Flash after all, so Super-Speed is a given.
  • Take That!: Caused a time alteration that destroyed his relationship with his love interest? Laments being in a world where he has to face the repercussions for his actions when the alterations are undone despite being revealed to be a selfish jackass? Hello, middle finger to post-resurrection Barry Allen and everything he's done since coming back.
  • Token Good Teammate: Of all the sociopaths that make up the Squadron, only Stanley comes across as being an actual good person. In Heroes Reborn, he doesn't shown the rabid ultra-nationalism that some of the others have and is on good terms with the Tibetan Ancient One and various Cosmic Entities. He's actually concerned about Wanda's health in the Siege Society issue, as he knows she doesn't have the Speedster Required Secondary Power of her brother (augmented metabolism, low-level superhuman strength and etc.). Finally he's nice enough that he can and will take the time to befriend a magical whale, unlike his colleagues who only think with brute force. However he is taking a turn for the worse...
  • Took a Level in Jerkass:
    • In Weapon X and the Final Flight, Stanley's behavior is as bad as the rest of his team. Unlike Quicksilver - who's death was an accident, Blur boasts to Aurora of killing Northstar. He was also tempted to kill her too for the bragging rights of killing twins. Heroes Reborn #7 also has him beat the jailed and brainwashed Frank Castle for no reason.
    • By his reappearance in Avengers issue 50, he's gone completely psychopathic.
  • The World Is Just Awesome: Very much believes in this, as while his super speed may give him a super short attention span, it never takes him long to find something new to keep his attention.

    Skymax

Sk'ym'x

  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: After Rogue beats him with her power/life drain, he begs her to spare his life as he's The Last of His Kind. She intended to release him as a Cruel Mercy but she accidentally held on for too long.
  • Killed Off for Real: Killed by Rogue in the past when she accidentally absorbed all his vital force.
  • Playing with Fire: How he tried to break up a mutant protest, which resulted in the death of this world's Mystique.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: As it turns out neither he or Hyperion liked one another. When Hyperion fought Rogue, telling her that he never liked Skymax, what little of him that was still remained inside Rogue's mind surfaced just to let Hyperion know that the feeling was mutual.
  • We Barely Knew You: Skymax only showed up in two panels of Mutant Force. After that he's gone and no one misses him.

The Young Squadron

These three youngsters look up to their respective idols in the Squadron Supreme and two of them even get to join their favourite heroes, before having their own little group.
    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6b5880ca_1d71_455b_bc09_cab9f4f82de8.jpeg
  • Broken Pedestal: They end up feeling this towards their heroes after it pointed out to them their total disregard for collateral damage and how they don't act like heroes.
  • Captain Ersatz: The Teen Titans to the Squadron's Justice League.
  • Kid Hero: They are still teen superheroes in this universe, just with different names, costumes, and powers than their counterparts (Miss Marvel, Spider-Man, and Nova) in the main Marvel Universe.
  • Sidekick: Girl Power and Kid Spectrum are the sidekicks of their idols, Falcon is not.
  • Two Guys and a Girl: Much like in the main reality, Kamala, Miles, and Sam form a team.

    Girl Power

Kamala Khan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/9038aacd_509b_4717_88b1_eb6922163b51.jpeg
  • Action Girl: She is Kamala Khan, isn't she?
  • Artifact of Power: Her powers come from Utopian artifacts she took to help Power Princess in a fight against the Wrecking Crew.
  • Expy: Of Cassandra Sandsmark, Wonder Girl. The origin is copied wholesale.

    Falcon

Miles Morales

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a3e4d9be_58dc_4c03_b458_5555f0852326.jpeg
  • Expy: Of Tim Drake, since he's replacing a deceased Falcon like how Tim replaced Jason Todd as Robin after Jason's death.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Miles created his own Falcon flight suit and other equipment by himself.
  • Legacy Character: To Sam Wilson, who was still Falcon in this reality, but died.

    Kid Spectrum

Sam Alexander

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/14fb9230_972c_4e52_a39c_778500e6e2f2.jpeg
  • I Owe You My Life: Sam saved Doctor Spectrum from M.O.D.O.K. who was unexpectedly winning and a grateful Spectrum was happy to have someone watch his back, so Sam became his sidekick.
  • Touched by Vorlons: Sam touched the Power Prism and it permanently gave him some powers.

The Secret Squadron

During the civil war between Nighthawk and Hyperion, Nighthawk created his own version of the Squadron. These days this team is in Europe and deals with the minor issues while the Squadron Supreme of America handles the major crises. Today they're going to be dealing with a new villain team made by an old enemy.
    In General
  • C-List Fodder: This is the B-team that Nighthawk put together on short notice. They're certainly not up to the cosmic-level juggernauts that's the Squadron Supreme and it costs them, as most of the team gets killed.
  • The Cavalry: If Blur and Nighthawk hadn't joined the fight, the outgunned Secret Squadron would have been wiped out by Siege Society.
    Tom Thumb

Tom Thumb (Thomas Thompson)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_9932.jpeg
  • Adaptational Badass: In previous incarnations, Tom was just a little person, but here he has size-shifting powers.
  • Expy: Of the Atom, only this Tom Thumb is even more like Ray Palmer and Ryan Choi in that he can actually change size, instead of being a dwarf.
    Amphibian

Amphibian (Kingsley Rice)

  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Has the shortest amount of page time before being killed.
  • The Worf Effect: Previous incarnations were considered only weaker than Hyperion and Power Princess in terms of raw strength, but here he's easily overpowered and killed by the Siege Society.
    Golden Archer

Golden Archer (Wyatt McDonald)

  • Master Archer: As always. He even engages in an archery duel against Hawkeye.
  • Squashed Flat: Fire Ant squashes him when he grows giant.
    Arcanna

Arcanna Jones

  • Magical Incantation: Pairs this with Magical Gesture for her brand of magic. This bites her in the ass against the Scarlet Witch, who has a much faster way of casting magic.
  • Reduced to Dust: "No more you!!" said the Silver Witch and so Arcanna doesn't even leave a body for Nighthawk and Blur to bury.

Squadron Savage

Some cases the Squadron Supreme of America shouldn't be called in for. When America needs black ops wetworks, they call on the Squadron Savage.
    In General
  • Boxed Crook: Each of them are former criminals that are under mind control.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: All of them are put under the Behaviour Modification Device to alter their minds. Frank Castle is so messed with that he spends time in a padded room with dummy versions of his dead family.
  • Cannon Fodder: Everyone on the team is expendable and Elektra has few qualms about using them so.
  • Enemy Exchange Program: At the end of the issue, the Squadron gets two new members from the Redeemers - Moonglow and Foxfire.
  • Plausible Deniability: The only reason to use them instead of the almighty Squadron Supreme of America. When the U.S. don't want blame, they send these scumbags in.
    Wilson Fisk

Wilson Fisk

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_9887.jpeg
  • Corrupt Politician: Fisk had to tell Elektra not to bring up his Kingpin past, he's the Secretary of Defense now.
    Elektra Natchios

Elektra Natchios

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_9320.jpeg
  • The Dragon: She's Wilson's right-hand woman.
  • The Leader: Leads and has complete command over the team, up and including sending them to their deaths.
    The Punisher

Frank Castle

  • Heavily Armored Mook: The kit that the government gave him is even better than what he usually has, though it's still realistic contemporary unlike Crossbones’ high-tech power armour. Among the things that Castle has is a heavy suit of armoured plates for the torso and some light plating on the limbs.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: He turns on Elektra, but she wins the fight and runs him through with a sai. Still he's a valuable asset so she takes him and has him surgically repaired after the mission.
  • In Spite of a Nail: His wife and kids were still murdered.
  • Lotus-Eater Machine: On the off-times, he's mentally placed in a world where his family is alive and he's happily enjoying retirement.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Behaviour modification made him much nicer, he even regrets killing Remnant.
    Crossbones

Brock Rumlow

  • Boom Head Shot: Frank Castle recovers an important memory and turns on the team. His first action is a bullet through the back of Crossbones' head.
  • Dual Wielding: He provides tremendous firepower with a pair of oversized double-barrelled machine guns.
  • Power Armor: The government was kind enough to provide Crossbones with a nice suit of power armor that augments his strength and houses a pair of machine gun Arm Cannons. Too bad Foxfire rots it off of him.
  • Villain Respect: He is an admirer of Frank Castle's modern day killing skills and even picked up a few pointers from watching Frank.
    Cloak

Tyrone Johnson

    Murder Hornet

Rita DeMara

  • Composite Character: She's a mix of her usual Yellowjacket self and the Nazi beehive Swarm.
  • Pest Controller: This incarnation of Rita doesn't have energy blasters, instead her offensive ability is to control swarms of hornets and send them against enemies or cover her in a coat of hornets.

    Winter Soldier

Bucky Barnes

  • Amazon Brigade: Mentioned in the main title as having a "Black Widow Brigade" backing him up in some fights.
  • Artificial Limbs: It's the Winter Soldier. Nighthawk even has one of his arms on display in his Hawk-cave.
  • Lost Superweapon: General Lukin forgot they still had the Winter Soldier in storage since Hyperion ended the Cold War.

    General Aleksander Lukin
  • Arms Dealer: He's the go to guy for providing the team with exotic equipment such as a bullet that can pierce Vibranium-level protection and... use of the Winter Soldier.

Imperial Squad

Years ago, when Hyperion was the Mightiest Young Hero he was sent to work a term with the Sh'iar Imperial Guard's youngest section in a good faith agreement with the Sh'iar Empire. There he became fast friends with his new team and even found love. Then things went south on one final mission...
    In General
  • Age Lift: The Imperial Guard featured are teenagers in this comic rather than adults, even Gladiator who's on the team as their trainer is a lot younger.
  • Character Focus: The Imperial Guard roster is huge so the focus is on Gladiator and Oracle plus 3 other members that most resemble certain Legionaires even though other Guards appear.
  • Expy: They're the equivalent of the Legion of Super-Heroes when Superboy was part of the team. Which, in fairness, the Imperial Guard already were.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Tragically they start off as the good guys, but become major enemies to Hyperion. Just not by choice.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: The members who haven't fully turned Brood get Hyperion to entrap them in the Negative Zone to prevent a full outbreak.
  • The Immune: Sadly, only Hyperion's atomically powered body is immune to Brood possession.
  • Theme Naming: The comic title calls them the Imperial Squad to fit the theme of all the hero teams being "insert name" Squadron. Within the comic, they're still known as the Imperial Guard.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Normally the Imperial Guard are kinda jerkasses, especially during the introduction in the X-Men. Here they're a friendly group of young heroes.
  • Was Once a Man: They all became infected with Brood, and Hyperion was unable to save them.

    Gladiator
  • The Leader: He's the leader of these young Guards.
  • Expy: He's the equivalent of the Legion's non-Superboy heavyweight of Mon'El or Ultraboy.
  • Mentor Archetype: While he's the trainer of this particular branch, Hyperion sees Kallarn as a role model.

    Oracle
  • Expy: With her telepathic powers and being the ex-fiance of Flashfire, she's the Saturn Girl equivalent.
  • Lost Lenore: She's Hyperion's love interest until he loses her to the Negative Zone.

    Flashfire
  • Bisexual Love Triangle: Almost. He was formerly with Oracle until his arrogance alienated her and she took up with Hyperion, now he's with teammate Neutron.
  • Expy: With his electricity powers and former love interest in the telepathic Oracle, he's the Lightning Lad equivalent.
  • Patient Zero: First to be infected with the Brood, he baits the others to get infected too.

    Neutron
  • Expy: With his gravity powers, he's the closest match to the magnetically-powered Cosmic Boy.

    Manta

Mutant Force

This world never had the X-Men, instead the mutant hero team was Mutant Force and these are the few remaining members of the once glorious team. Mutants are pushed to the brink of extinction as never before, but Magneto and his team have a new hope to turn the tide...
    Emma Frost

Emma Frost

  • Refusal of the Call: Wanted nothing to do with Mutant Force and just wanted to stay in her safe, comfortable cell.
    Frenzy

Frenzy (Joanna Cargill)

  • Action Girl: This is a lady you do NOT want to mess with.
  • The Big Guy: She's actually weaker than the mighty Sabra, but she's got a far louder personality and she relishes a fight more than Ruth.
    Jubilee

Jubilee (Jubilation Lee)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_9464_4.jpeg
    Magneto

Magneto (Max Eisenhardt)

  • Handicapped Badass: He's paralyzed from the waist down, but he's still as an Omega-level mutant as a squad of Fantomex troops found out.
  • The One Guy: Besides Mister One and Two, he's the only male of the current Mutant Force.
    Mister One and Mister Two

Mister One and Mister Two

  • The Big Guy: Shares the team muscle role with Frenzy and is such an interesting appearing character that he really stands out from the rest of the team. He actually has the most lines of any Mutant Force member when they're introduced and he's later gunned down.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Barely shows up before he's killed by a Phantomex lackey.
    Rogue

Rogue (Anna Marie)

  • Action Girl: Rogue is still as dangerous as ever, with added Skrull powers!
  • Combo Platter Powers: She's got the typical Skrull shape-shifting and she has whatever Super-Skrull abilities Skymax had, including shooting flame.
  • Mythology Gag: This is not the first time Rogue has killed a Super-Skrull and absorbed their powers and personalities. In the Comic Book/Exiles series, the Rogue of Earth-2182, home of Nocturne, daughter of Nightcrawler and Scarlet Witch, killed Kl'rt the Super-Skrull and permanently absorbed his powers and her mind was tainted by his psyche, causing her to take on many of the villain's more negative traits.
    Sabra

Sabra (Ruth Bat-Seraph)

The Masters of Doom

A loose alliance of some of the mightiest personal foes to the Squadron Supreme of America, these are some of the only beings that can last longer than a few seconds against the Squadron. Led by an exiled Doctor Doom, the Masters of Doom engage in an ill-fated rematch with their hated foes.
    Doctor Juggernaut

Victor von Doom

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0d315445_68f1_49ab_bf85_fd4cf0749d9c.jpeg
  • Composite Character: Appears to be a composite between Doctor Doom and the Juggernaut. He's Dr. Doom but was deposed when Hyperion enforced an election in Latveria, so he went to the Temple of Cyttorak and got the gem to transform into the new Juggernaut to conquer America.
  • The Leader: Downplayed. He's the "leader" of the team, but in practice each member went after their own agendas and arch enemies - leading to everyone getting arrested or killed.
  • Not So Invulnerable: Usually possession of the Gem of Cyttorak makes its owner practically or just actually invulnerable, but Hyperion effortlessly breaks Victor's fingers.

    All-Gog

All-Gog

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f4003e80_6c63_406a_b264_19f018990463.jpeg
  • I Am a Humanitarian: Gog mentioned eating Odin, Loki and other Asgardians. In their fight, he also partially swallows Power Princess and gets a taste of her - he finds her flavor to be soft and sweet.
  • Gutted Like a Fish: Power Princess left an uru gauntlet in his belly when he swallowed her. She then Summon to Hand the gauntlet... which punches its way out of his stomach, making his intestines fall out. Zarda chivalrously gives him time to put them back in and regenerate a bit, because she wants to break him while he's standing.
  • Hunting the Most Dangerous Game: Power Princess was pleasantly surprised to see All-Gog active, he disappeared after killing the last god. She later finds out why he's back, All-Gog was hunting for the lost god Thor, who had reappeared from centuries of being in "human" form.
  • Taken for Granite: Zarda ends their fight by turning him to stone.

    Thanos

Thanos

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f516a35c_4ab9_47ef_a2b2_1f4d4d1ad9c6.jpeg
  • Fingore: Since his Infinity Rings are rings, Doctor Spectrum drills his fingers off.
  • Gonk: While Thanos was never going to be in the running for beauty competition winner anyway, this version's features are more exaggerated.
  • Ring of Power: He's got a bunch of these in the Infinite Rings that make him omnipotent, just not as good as Spectrum's Power Prism.
  • Not So Stoic: This Thanos isn't as tough mentally as some of the other versions. Contrast the look of horror on his face as Spectrum shoots his fingers off, with the times when mainline Thanos gets killed or beaten on.

Siege Society

Baron Zemo isn't happy that there's a superhero team in his domain. So he's hired some extra muscle to get rid of the Secret Squadron.
    In General
    Baron Zemo

Baron Zemo (Helmut Zemo)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_9950.jpeg
    Black Widow

Natasha Romanoff

    Hawkeye

Clint Barton

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_9941.jpeg
  • Badass Normal: Even in this world, Clint is still a non-powered archer.
    Fire Ant

Scott Lang

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_9512.jpeg
    Sabretooth

    Silver Witch

Wanda Maximoff

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e267328d_57af_4544_b617_ce2b47667ec3.jpeg
  • Adaptational Villainy: In this new timeline, Wanda Maximoff is among those who have become villains, since she never reformed thanks to the Avengers' influence. Combine that with her brother's death driving her mad...
  • Captain Ersatz: An evil and insane counterpart to the resident super-speedster? She's one to the many, many Reverse-Flashes.
  • Composite Character: Appears to be a composite between Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. She's the Scarlet Witch, but during a fight between the Squadron Supreme and the still criminal twins, Pietro got killed so Wanda used her Chaos Magic to take his powers for her own.
  • The Dragon: Serves as this for Baron Zemo when she's a member of Siege Society. She provides the raw power for the Society and is loyal in a way most of the other members aren't. She was okay with taking one for the team by being the bait for Zemo's plan to get Blur out of the way.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Her: After being dumped in Ravencraft, she's later mentioned to have died during Echo's breakout via committing suicide.
  • Required Secondary Power: Inverted. When Wanda took her brother's super-speed, she forgot to take his enhanced musculature and metabolism. Blur is actually worried she's killing herself with the speed. So far, she's alright but she is noticeably squishier than her brother (in Siege Society, Blur took her out with an Offhand Backhand).
  • Super-Speed: Taken from her deceased brother Quicksilver.

The Redeemers

The U.S. Secretary of Defense warns that there's a reality-threatening enemy and the Squadron Supereme of America can't be used in this incident as the enemy is on Russian soil, so it's up to Squadron Savage. This "villain group" are the Redeemers.
    In General
  • Evil All Along: Downplayed. Yeah it turns out that they're unknowing lackeys to the evil Kang, but the main team are just fighting against America's repression of the world.
    Remnant

Remnant (Frank Edwards)

    Mink

Mink (Julie Steel)

  • Curbstomp Battle: She's on the receiving end against Elektra and is run through on Elektra's first hit.
    Haywire

Haywire (Harold Danforth)

    Foxfire

Foxfire (Olivia Underwood)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_9319.jpeg
    Thermite

Thermite (Sam Yurimoto)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_9582.jpeg
  • In the Back: How he dies. Murder Hornet kicks the regulator on his back and this causes him to explode.
    Moonglow

Moonglow (Tandy Bowen)

    Kang the Conqueror

Kang the Conqueror

  • Arc Villain: He's the actual villain of the issue and is the one who founded the Redeemers to be his expendable agents for taking over this false timeline.
  • Captain Ersatz: He's a stand-in for the Squadron Supreme's Arch-Enemy, the Scarlet Centurion. Interestingly the Scarlet Centurion is actually just another incarnation of Kang himself.

The Dark Squadron

Years ago, the Goblin had an epiphany, if he was president he'd be able to murder people without any consequence. So he made his own superhero team as a political gimmick to win votes in his presidential run.
    In General
  • Adaptational Villainy: Norman's political platform was that he and his Squadron are going to murder a lot of innocent people. The rest of the team must have grown really scummy to support that.
  • Doomed by Canon: Pretty obvious that Norman did not becomes president.
  • Expy: These guys are this world's answer to Earth-616 Norman Osborn's Dark Avengers team.

    The Goblin

Norman Osborn

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d354f205_e766_468e_b870_35804b110351.jpeg
  • Eye Scream: An insane Gwen Stacy throws a hawkarang into one of his eyes.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Despite Spider-Man not existing in this world, Norman still became the (Green) Goblin, and is an enemy of Nighthawk and Nightbird, similar to his Earth-616 counterpart being an enemy of Spider-Man. He also murdered Falcon in a similar way to how he killed Gwen Stacy on Earth-616. (Also a reference to the Joker’s murder of Jason Todd in A Death in the Family.)
  • Nightmare Fetishist: One of the few in the altered world who learns the truth behind their reality, but shamelessly admits he enjoys this reality better because of the rampant violence and pandemonium.
  • Practically Joker: More than the Goblin usually is. He even takes notes from the original by killing Falcon in a nod to A Death in the Family. He's basically the Crown Prince of Crime with Norman Osborn's original ambition.
  • President Evil: Norman runs for president, though in this reality he’s crazed enough to do so in his Goblin persona and outright admits publicly that he’s only going to use his platform to start more wars for his entertainment.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Power Princess grows tired of his games and prattling, so she punches through his heart after he keeps taunting her.

    Ghost Runner

Johnny Blaze

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_9879.jpeg
  • Captain Ersatz: Seems to serve as the Black Flash to Blur's regular Flash.
  • Super-Speed: This incarnation of the Spirit of Vengeance has no vehicle, instead he's a fast-running speedster.

    Moon Knight

Mark Spector

    Nova

Richard Rider

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_9951.jpeg

    Sentry

    Valkyrie

Final Flight

The team Alpha Flight was formed as a reaction to growing American aggression towards Canada. Alpha Flight would be the counter to the Squadron Supreme of America. Tragically, it didn't work out that way so Canada is now two provinces short and bombed into the stone age.
    In General
  • Arch-Enemy: The team's worst foe in this reality isn't the Master of the World or Omega, it's the Squadron Supreme of America.
  • It's Personal: Squadron Supreme really want Alpha Flight for killing Hyperion. Eventually they settle down and mostly aim their hatred at Logan.
  • La Résistance: They're part of an overall Canadian rebel movement and provide the superhuman muscle for their vastly outgunned fellow insurgents.
  • Non-Indicative Name: They're still actually Alpha Flight and don't refer to themselves as Final Flight.

    Weapon X

James "Logan" Howlett

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_9666.jpeg
  • And I Must Scream: Hyperion pays Logan back and kills him temporarily. Doctor Spectrum then takes Logan to a Dark Universe and dumps him on a dead planet that doesn't even have an atmosphere. Spectrum explains that if Logan is truly immortal, he'll always be dying of starvation, thirst, and asphyxiation with no way to escape.
  • And This Is for...: "This is for Jeannie!"
  • Healing Factor: As always.
  • Revenge by Proxy: He targeted Hyperion to get back at Power Princess, who killed Jean Grey.
  • Wolverine Claws: Magically-enhanced Wolverine Claws, bub.

    Aurora

Jean-Marie Beaubier

  • Batter Up!: Her weapon is a spiked baseball bat.
  • It's Personal: Like Logan, she can't stop fighting America because she wants to kill Blur, who killed her brother.
  • Tomboy: This version of Aurora is a lot less girly-girl than usual, she's a tomboy in cargo pants with a spiked club.

    Sasquatch

Dr. Walter Langkowski

  • Adaptational Ugliness: His Great One form is more monstrous in this world. Instead of being simian, he's a giant horned Beast Man. As a human, he's not looking like the ex-NFL player he used to be.
  • Horned Humanoid: Even when he's human, he has small horns growing out of his forehead.
  • Hopeless War: He fears that they're fighting a losing war against the Americans.
  • The Mole: He has a deal with Nighthawk to sell out Weapon X in return for sparing Final Flight and releasing the hostages.

    Shaman

Michael Twoyoungmen

  • The Archmage: He's the Sorcerer Supreme in this false reality, instead of surgeon Doctors Strange.
  • Power Floats: He's a powerful floating shaman who's wearing the Cloak of Levitation.

    Guardian

Claire Hudson

This latest Guardian is the 10 year old daughter of James "Mac" Hudson and Heather Hudson.
  • Bigger Stick: She loves fighting U.S. soldiers as she carries a bigger gun than they do.
  • Child Prodigy: So smart that she can build and repair a suit of power.
  • Mini-Mecha: This version of the Guardian appears to be a large suit of Power Armour. It's actually a mech that small Claire fits inside and pilots it.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: The others are worried about her, as she doesn't play or do other things that a 10 year old girl does. Instead she's always working on the Guardian for the next fight she'll be in.

    Professor Hudson

Truett Hudson

  • Expy: He's one to Professor Xavier, the old bald mentor figure who started the team.

Other Characters

    Commissioner Cage

Luke Cage

  • Adaptational Wimp: Was never experimented on here.
  • Badass Normal: He's still a big intimidating guy and he's got experience as a detective, but here he's a normal human instead of a mutate with diamond-hard skin and super strength.
  • The Commissioner Gordon: To Nighthawk and the Squadron.
  • For Want Of A Nail: With Tony Stark still exclusively a weapons developer, there was no Starktech experiment in the prison where the real Luke Cage volunteered to be a test subject.

    Nightbird

Nightbird (Dr. Gwen Stacy)

A version of Gwen Stacy who was never killed by the Green Goblin or dated Peter Parker. This Gwen followed in her mother's footsteps and became a psychiatrist, while also modeling herself after Nighthawk as the vigilante Nightbird. As a superhero she puts villains away in Ravencroft Asylum, and as a doctor she tries to help them deal with their trauma.
  • Adaptational Badass: The original Gwen Stacy was just a normal human girl, this one is a Badass Normal Distaff Counterpart to Nighthawk.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Gwen is hinted to be bisexual in this timeline, due to having a past relationship with Flash Thompson and heavily implied to be in one currently with Misty Knight.
  • Composite Character: With Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon, modeled after both them as Nightwing, Batgirl, and a little bit of Oracle.
  • Downer Ending: In Nighthawk's story, Gwen is transformed with the Goblin formula and goes mad. She's still a villain when she returns in Gwenverse.
  • For Want Of A Nail: In this timeline, Gwen doesn't seem to have ever had a connection with Peter Parker but she did briefly date Flash Thompson.
  • Nice Girl: Gwen's a genuine hero and a good person, desiring only to help others like her mother did. As a child, Gwen was inspired by a phrase her mother once said:
Gwen: Treat people as they want to be treated, not as you want to be treated.
  • Sidekick: Nighthawk, Falcon and her were best friends. After Falcon's death, she still occasionally does a sidekick role with Nighthawk and keeps him somewhat stable.
  • There Are No Therapists: Averted, as she is a therapist and implied to be a very good one.

    Peter Parker

Peter Parker

  • Adaptational Wimp: Since Peter never got his powers that made him Spider-Man, he remained the normal powerless scrawny nerd he was originally.
  • Back for the Dead: Among the people who investigated a strange energy signature, was a certain clumsy reporter from the Daily Bugle. All those investigating are then murdered by Coulson.
  • Expy: Of Jimmy Olsen. A Weirdness Magnet that works as a journalist and frequently needs to be saved by the resident Cape.
  • Not Quite Dead: It turns out he survived the fall and would have one more ill-fated adventure.
  • The Resenter: Peter borderline hates Hyperion. Because Hyperion's reckless actions lead to his Aunt May's death.

    President Coulson
  • Bad Boss: He guns down J. Jonah Jameson and "Thunderbolt" Ross to frame the Wakandans, and sees the Squadron as nothing but pawns, even stating that it would not really matter if a few of its members were killed by his bombardment of Wakanda.
  • Big Bad: He used the Hellahedron to change reality at the behest of Mephisto.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: It's hinted that Mephisto intentionally warped his soul during the revival. Every time Coulson's former personality surfaces and he has doubts, Mephisto reverts him to his current evil persona.
  • Fallen Hero: After being killed by Deadpool during Secret Empire, Coulson sold his soul to Mephisto, became one of his agents on Earth, and used the Pandemonium Cube to create a new, Americentric reality where he's more or less a dictator who keeps everyone in-line with Jerkass heroes that he can control while nearly everyone worships Mephisto.
  • Mundane Utility: He used the Pandemonium Cube to get rid of daylight savings time and cords, and made it so that restaurants don't just serve Roxxi Cola.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: He claimed that he made the world safer despite the fact that his Squadron are ruthless, with little to no concern for collateral damage, have made Canada into a wasteland, wiped out a ton of mutants and forced the survivors into hiding, and wreaked havoc in space via Doctor Spectrum. His inner monologue makes him sound like an egotist who simply enjoys playing God.
  • Pet the Dog: Out of sentimentality he allowed Captain America to remain frozen in ice and still be commemorated by a statue. He eschews this when he later personally tries to kill Cap.
  • President Evil: He created the altered timeline using the Pandemonium Cube.
  • Put on a Bus to Hell: Ends the series having revealed himself to have turned into a villain and having become Mephisto's newest plaything as a price for his failure.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Mephisto has Coulson's soul trapped inside the Pandemonium Cube, as he talks to the other Mephistos in the Council of Red.
  • Villainous Breakdown: As his flying limo burns, he screams out to Mephisto to ask why he had forsaken him.
    The Saint

Matt Murdock

  • Sinister Minister: He's a priest of Mephisto who's becoming fixated on some of the more violent aspects of that religion.
