Ezera - Royal Castle

    Vildred
"If they don’t get out of the way... we'll cut our way through."
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_vildred.png
Paragon of Righteousness and Principle
Voiced by: David Errigo Jr. (English), Hikaru Midorikawa (Japanese)
Rarity: 5★
Element: Earth
Class: Thief
Zodiac Sign: Leo

A reliable companion of Ras who has a strong desire to pursue what he thinks is right. Vildred wants to stop the endless cycle of war to prevent more people from dying.

  • Badass Longcoat: And boy, how long and large his black coat is at its tips.
  • Climax Boss: The second fight with him takes place at the end of Chapter 7 and is the reason Mercedes is taken away by him and given to Anghraf as a vessel.
  • Combos: If an enemy is killed by his "Sweep" or "Blade Ascent" skills, Vildred will follow-up the attack with his "Dancing Blade" skill.
  • Deader than Dead: Archdemon Anghraf (possessing Mercedes) slaughters him from behind to steal the last of the Archdemon's might for himself (as it was his to begin with). As this is the final timeline, he's gone for good.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He likes to throw sarcasm when given the chance, just like how he reacts to Iseria's own reactions to Ras in Chapter 1.
Vildred: Just speaking the truth. Better than being outwardly cautious while quietly despising him like certain others.
Iseria: Your sarcasm is unnecessary, Sir Vildred.
  • Determinator: Vildred can stubbornly push ahead to achieve goals that what he personally thinks are right.
  • Evil Gloating: Obtaining yet another fragment of the Archdemon's Might, Vildred gloats about using his powers to destroy the world.
  • Eye Scream: In the prologue set in the Sixth World, Kayron managed to slash Vildred with a sneak attack, causing the latter to cover his face in pain and the camera shifts to his blood-covered vision.
  • Face–Heel Turn: In Episode 1, Vildred kills Queen Diene. He also gains a portion of the Archdemon's powers and escapes as a traitor. This transitions Vildred into his "Arbiter" counterpart.
  • Family-Unfriendly Death: Kayron seems to slice him to death in the prologue, blood dripping all over him into his eyes. However, Kayron also implants a fragment of the Archdemon's power into Vildred to serve his own purposes in the 7th world.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: Because of Kayron, Vildred remembered the cycle of pain and violence from the previous wars. This gave him the idea to rebel against the cycle and break it, starting his Heel–Face Turn in the Seventh World.
  • The Heavy: For most of the story, he's the one driving the plot.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: After Vildred's ultimate defeat, Ras says that he understands why Vildred turned on him and notes that he will ask Diche to leave Orbis be after Anghraf is finished. He asks Vildred to come with him... and then Mercedes (actually Anghraf sharing her body) impales him In the Back and takes the final Archdemon's Might to unveil her true power.
  • Heel Realization: Towards the end of the main campaign, he realized that Ras finally understood what his problem was with the whole world revival deal, but he got impaled before he could reconcile.
  • Herd-Hitting Attack: All of his skills hit all of the opponents.
  • Hidden Depths: Many mistake Vildred as a light-hearted individual because of his humorous style of speaking, but he has a serious side.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Courtesy of Archdemon Mercedes.
  • In the Back: How he dies permanently.
  • Karmic Death: He gets Impaled with Extreme Prejudice (presumably the same way he murdered Queen Diene) by Mercedes (Diene's loyal and devoted follower) and Anghraf (the Archdemon he worked so hard to bring back in order to destroy the world out of revenge and spite towards Ras and Diche) sharing a body (he forced Mercedes to become the Archdemon's vessel). He loses the Archdemon's Might to its rightful owner and dies permanently without redemption.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: He uses a very long one in combat, and it's just as effective as hitting all enemies at the opposing side of the screen.
  • Killed Off for Real: By Anghraf/Mercedes.
  • Next Tier Power-Up: As if absorbing a part of the Archdemon's Might in Ezera's sanctum isn't enough, Vildred absorbed yet another fragment of the Archdemon's Might in the North Wetheric Moor.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: As Vildred stays behind in the Sixth World's war, he utters this line against his foes:
Archdemon, Acolytes, monsters! Vildred, General of Ezera, is waiting for you!
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: Vildred is a General of Ezera. He is capable enough to back it up, and can slaughter monsters by himself.
  • Razor Wind: How he usually hits enemies. He doesn't get up close and personal unlike other melee Heroes, Vildred just stands and slashes there and let wind damage his opponents.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: As Vildred takes the Archdemon's Might for himself, the cutscene shows his eyes glowing red.
  • The Rest Shall Pass: During the final battle of the Sixth World, Vildred stays to fight the Archdemon's forces behind them while urging the Heirs to proceed straight to the Sanctuary then defeat the Archdemon.
  • Samurai Ponytail: He has a long ponytail to go along with his samurai-like aesthetics and gameplay.
  • Shipper on Deck: In Chapter 1, Iseria monologues about how her faith being displaced after seeing Ras and Arky play and run in the fields. When Vildred saw her looking at his friend, he jokes that Iseria had fallen for Ras.
  • Simple, yet Awesome: Vildred's skills are straightforward AoE attacks that scale with Speed while his Memory Imprints also increase Speed, making him a very fast and efficient farmer for Level Grinding other party members by himself.
  • Sword Plant: Before delivering the slash in his third skill, "Blade Ascent", Vildred first pins his katana in the ground.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: After Vildred kills Hanien, he then questions Ras why the latter, as the Heir of the Covenant, has been giving false hopes when he and the Goddess know that the world is in an endless war.
  • The Worf Effect: Kayron brutally slaughters him at the beginning of the story (the end of the sixth world timeline).
  • Worf Had the Flu: Admittedly, his final death at the hands of Archdemon Mercedes was after Ras had defeated him, however Mercedes would have been able to kill him easily regardless of whether or not he was at full strength.
  • World's Strongest Man: Vildred is the strongest normal human (e.g. not an Heir, nor Acolyte, nor Champion).
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Archdemon Mercedes finishes him off after he fails to defeat Ras, taking the Archdemon's Might back for the being occupying her body, Anghraf.

Voiced by: Fryda Wolff (English), Natsumi Takamori (Japanese)
Rarity: 3★
Element: Ice
Class: Soul Weaver
Zodiac Sign: Libra

The energetic royal child of Ezera.

  • Badass Cape: He wears a dark blue cape with a white inner side.
  • Barrier Warrior: One of his abilities puts up shields around the party.
  • Berserk Button: He doesn't like people who treat him as a weak boy.
  • Cheerful Child: He's a bright and energetic boy.
  • A Child Shall Lead Them: With Diene's death, he becomes the new king of Ritania.
  • Comically Missing the Point: He thought that Ras sleeping during the Archdemon War is a wonderful thing to be proud of.
  • Commonality Connection: In the "Aither's Great Escape" hidden story, after knowing that Aither is a prince, Chloe, being a self-proclaimed queen, thought that they will get along together because of their titles.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Little boy looks like a little girl, specifically. Violet spends the entirety of his visit to Ezera convinced that Aither is a Princess, and isn't disabused of the idea until he meets up with Ras and Mercedes in the second story arc.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Aither is a starter healer whose heals scale of with his Attack stat. Problem is, his own Attack stat and its growth rate are low. Later on, he gets outshined by Ice-elemental healers who scale their heals with their Health, such as Angelica.
  • Fan Boy: He's one to Ras.
  • Generation Xerox: Aither wants to be a brave individual one day, just like how his mother Diene helped in defeating the Archdemon in the past.
  • Healer Signs On Early: He joins the group automatically right after Ras and Mercedes, allowing for a decently balanced party.
  • The Promise: Aither once promised to go on an adventure with Chloe sometime.
  • Royal Blood: He's the son of Queen Diene.
  • Running Gag: Whatever Ras does, Aither compliments him by describing what he did, then ending with "As expected of the Heir of the Covenant!".
  • Squishy Wizard: A great healer, but can't take a hit.

    Diene

Diene Tali

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_diene.png
Voiced by: Elise Napier (English), Chiwa Saitō (Japanese)
Rarity: 5★
Element: Ice
Class: Soul Weaver
Zodiac Sign: Gemini

The Saint of Ezera who fought against the Archdemon before the main story proper. She later became the Queen of Ezera and the mother of Aither.

  • A Day in the Limelight: She's the starring character in the "Eulogy for a Saint" side story event.
  • Anti-Debuff: Her "Blessings of the Goddess" skill dispels one debuff from all party members.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Her "Blessings of the Goddess" skill grants a barrier before dispelling a debuff. But if her target ally is inflicted with the "Unable to be buffed" status ailment, Diene won't be able to apply the shield even if she dispels the debuff later.
  • Barrier Maiden: Only the one tasked of protecting the sanctum's barrier guarding the Archdemon's Might is allowed to dispel it. Diene is in charge of Ezera's Sanctuary Gate. Her death allowed Vildred to absorb the Archdemon's Might for himself.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Her skills are focused on providing the team with buffs, but she can be easily countered by opponents (e.g. Basar) who can inflict the "Unable to be Buffed" status ailment on her team. Diene can't even heal allies on her own, and would need to rely on healing Artifacts like Celestine and Rod of Amaryllis in order to do so.
  • Famed In-Story: As the main story started 20 years into the Seventh World, Queen Diene was already known as the person who ended the Archdemon War.
  • Friendship Trinket: Diene gave Bask her own rosary, something that she doesn't easily give to anyone. In the Blue Cross Church, a rosary symbolizes a nun's faith in the Goddess. Giving your own rosary to someone symbolizes a nun's desire to throw away her faith in order to be with another person.
  • The Good Queen: She's the Queen of Ezera.
  • Healing Hands: Like her son, she's a great healer.
  • Lady of War: Instead of giving up or waiting for a savior, she led the world to victory against the Archdemon, even without the Heir of the Covenant.
  • Pals with Jesus: Diene is also known as the prophet of Diche, and has been receiving divine revelations or prophecies from the Goddess.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: In her appearance during "Eulogy for a Saint", Diene wears a clean white dress with blue layers and outlines.
  • Prayer Pose: Her artwork's pose is drawn in this way.
  • The Protagonist: Of Eulogy for a Saint.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: In the past, there was a movement planning to assassinate the Heir of the Covenant, Ras. That's why Queen Diene had to move Ras into the Tirel Castle under her protection. Knowing his goal as the Heir, she also gives him the quest to seek out the fragments of the Archdemon's Might and destroy them.
  • Red Baron: If she's not addressed as the Queen of Ezera, she's called the "Saint of Ezera".
  • Sacrificial Lion: She's killed early on in the main story, courtesy of Vildred. Her side story shows that she's actually a hero of a war from years prior and fought alongside Krau and Charles, earning their undying respect.
  • The Scapegoat: Because the Archdemon isn't fully defeated yet, Chaos Gates and Lands of Death appear within the continent, and people had to live in fear of being attacked by monsters. Queen Diene and Ras became targets of their discontent.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: With Bask, who dies in the final battle against the Archdemon.
  • Support Party Member: She provides her team with buffs like Barrier, Cleanse, Increase Attack and Critical Hit Resistance.
  • True Companions: Krau is known as a good friend of Queen Diene. Mercedes was brought into Tirel Castle because of him, and Diene pledged to take care of the Wraith girl.

Ezera - Order of the Sword

    Charles

Charles Sharon

"For King Aither... I would give my life!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_charles.png
Voiced by: Crispin Freeman (English), Yasunori Masutani (Japanese)
Rarity: 5★
Element: Earth
Class: Knight
Zodiac Sign: Gemini

The Knight Commander of the Order of the Sword. Though rigid and loyal, Charles is greatly attached to Prince Aither to the point of overprotectiveness, and will deal with all kinds of things in order to keep him safe.

  • Anger Born of Worry: Frequently shows this towards Aither whenever he runs off and gets in trouble.
  • Badass Cape: He wears a very long cape coat that it even reaches the floor he's standing on.
  • Combos: His "Slash" skill has a chance to be followed up by his "Smash" skill.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Charles is a great pick against buffed enemies, especially on PVP. His "Slash" skill has a greater chance to combo with his "Smash" skill if the enemy is buffed, while his "Smash" skill is an offensive Status-Buff Dispel. But against targets that don't buff themselves, most of Charles's additional gimmicks aren't used.
  • Earth-Shattering Kaboom: Surprisingly enough, his third skill's animation shows the ground and the planet getting split in two and forming a fissure. this doesn't affect gameplay that much.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: There's a large intricate shoulder pad only on his right side. Also, the strap on his vest is slanted, and his sleeves don't match in color.
  • Good Parents: He's Aither's father in all but blood, and cares very deeply for him even without his oath of fealty.
  • Large Ham: Whenever Aither misbehaves, Charles has a tendency to reprimand him by shouting. This is indicated by his dialogue lines having a larger font in the narration.
  • The Leader: Commander of the Order of the Sword.
  • Papa Wolf: Threaten Aither at your own peril.
  • Parental Substitute: For Aither after his mother Queen Diene's murder.
  • Situational Damage Attack:
    • The damage of his "Smash" skill increases in proportion to the number of buffs that he has.
    • The damage of his "Faithful Strike" skill increases when there are three or fewer enemies.
  • Status-Buff Dispel: His "Smash" skill can dispel the target's buffs.
  • Tough Love: Charles may be very strict to Aither, but it's all to protect the boy and make him grow worthy. Aither explains to Chloe that if he's found breaking rules again, Charles would lecture him for two hours.

    Cermia

Cermia Ranka

"Can you hold out much longer? Shall we bet on it?"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_cermia.png
Voiced by: Cherami Leigh (English), Kana Ueda (Japanese)
Rarity: 5★
Element: Fire
Class: Warrior
Zodiac Sign: Leo

The sister of Carrot. Cermia is a knight who loves gambling and money.

  • A Day in the Limelight: She's the starring character in the "All or Nothing!" side story event.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Her "All-In!" skill also decreases or penetrates the target's defense by 50%.
  • Badass Cape: She wears a red-and-black cape which complements her fiery-red attire.
  • Born Unlucky: Cermia is a horribly unlucky knight. When she gambles, she often loses everything.
  • Competition Freak: She's fiercely competitive and an impulsive individual. This is one of the reasons why she gambles a lot.
  • Cooldown Manipulation:
    • Her second skill, "Hot Streak!", fully resets the cooldown of her ultimate move, "All-In!", and also grants her an Extra Turn.
    • An effect of her "Lucky Dice" Exclusive Equipment decreases the cooldown of her "Hot Streak!" skill by 2 when an enemy is defeated.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: She acts like a money-obsessed twit, but Charles still trusts her to act as The Mole into the seedier dealings of Ritanian society.
  • Expy: Cermia looks almost like Mii from the 2016 light novel, Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense., complete with a similar name (Mii, Cermia), hairstyle, hair color, armor, choice of weapon, and fire-based powers. The similarities came close when the light novel had its anime adaptation on 2020, especially when Mii had her panicked expression finally animated when she lost to Maple, and it's just like Cermia's panicked expression in this game.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Her right thigh has a band while the left doesn't.
  • Fiery Redhead: Works in several ways; Cermia has red hair, she is an impulsive gambler, and she has fire-based powers.
  • Flaming Sword: She mostly attacks by imbuing her sword with flames.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Despite being the older Ranka daughter, Cermia is impulsive and prone to gambling, while her younger sister Carrot is logical and taciturn.
  • The Gambler: To the point that the Ranka family left their fortune to her younger sister, as she'd blow it all away at the table in the span of a minute.
  • Good Luck Charm: Her Exclusive Equipment, "Lucky Dice", is the dice that Cermia used to win a once-in-a-lifetime jackpot. She keeps them in the hopes that they may bring her luck again one day.
  • Idiot Hair: Has two strands of cowlick standing on the top of her head.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She acts like a snotty brat a good portion of the time, but she's overall trustworthy and quite friendly when she warms up.
  • Money Fetish: She will do anything to make a buck.
  • Playing with Fire: Not only is it her natural element, but her attacks involve wrapping her blade in fire to fry the enemy. Her basic skill is even named "Playing with Fire".
  • Shaping Your Attacks:
    • In her second skill, "Hot Streak!", Cermia summons a phoenix-like fire to buff herself.
    • In her ultimate skill, "All-In!", Cermia imbues her sword with flames, swinging it later to form a large fire beast that chomps the target.
  • Simple, yet Awesome: Cermia's skillset focuses on dealing damage, if not overspecializing at it. She has one of the highest base attack in the game, has a personal Greater Attack Buff, has an innate critical chance boost, her ultimate penetrates defense, and her basic skill prevents the enemy from healing themselves.
  • Theme Naming: The names of her skills (Playing with Fire, Hot Streak! and All in!) all relate to gambling in some way.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: She and Iseria grow from being catty and bitchy to one another to affectionate friends with hints of snark.

    Bask

Bask Royceman

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_bask_8.png
Voiced by: Elijah Nelson (English), Atsushi Abe (Japanese)
Rarity: 3★
Element: Ice
Class: Knight
Zodiac Sign: Scorpio

A Knight from the Order of the Sword. Bask doesn't believe in the Goddess nor understands why anyone would be willing to die in the service of faith or beliefs.

He stars in the "Eulogy for a Saint" event, serving as one of its protagonists, and also the love interest of Diene.

  • Anti-Debuff: His ultimate skill, "Will of Protection", grants 3-turn immunity for all allies.
  • Bodyguard Crush: Bask was assigned to protect Diene, but the two end up falling in love during the course of the event.
  • Character Death: He's killed during the war against the Archdemon.
  • Character Development: He starts out as an atheist, sour knight who only thinks of fame. During his long travel with Diene, he becomes a knight with a heart of gold and does the heroic thing that he used to hate from the start.
  • Hollywood Atheist: Nope, he did not join the Order because of faith, he isn't a man of faith. But all of these changed when he met Diene.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Bask joined the Order so that he may be remembered by future generations as a powerful knight.
  • Knightly Sword and Shield: He uses a basic set from the Order of the Sword.
  • Redemption Equals Death: After reforming himself and making peace with the reasons behind his father's sacrifice, he is killed in the final battle against the Archdemon's forces.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: With Diene, who is understandably heartbroken by his death.
  • Status-Buff Dispel: His "Shield Blow" skill can dispel all of the target's buffs.
  • Temporary Online Content: Bask is a limited-time Hero who's only available during the "Eulogy of a Saint" side story event.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Thanks to his time protecting Diene, Bask gradually becomes less of a self-centered, fame-oriented knight and more of a hero.

    Alexa

Alexa Lovelace

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_alexa.png
Voiced by: Erica Lindbeck (English), Mitsuki Nakae (Japanese)
Rarity: 3★
Element: Ice
Class: Thief
Zodiac Sign: Leo

A Knight of the Order of the Sword who is trusted with all kinds of duties.

  • Boyish Short Hair: For a girl, she has short hair. This simply implies her crush on Iseria even further.
  • Child Soldier: She became a formally appointed knight despite her young age.
  • Combos: If her basic skill lands as a critical hit, it will be followed-up with another attack named "Lightning Bolt".
  • Dual Wielding: She wields a blade in both hands.
  • Poisoned Weapons: Her second skill, "Cold Edge", makes Alexa attack with a cold blade that inflicts the Poison status ailment on the target.
  • Situational Damage Attack: Her "Crushing Blow" skill deals damage proportional to the number of debuffs inflicted on the enemy.
  • Straight Gay: She has a fairly obvious crush on Iseria, the person who taught her how to use a sword.
  • This Looks Like a Job for Aquaman: Her kit is really not that impressive when compared to other characters even among the 3★. However she is one of the best units for Wyvern Hunts. She can attack twice if she lands a critical hit, when combined with the Daydream Joker artifact (providing bonus damage that scales with the target's max HP), Alexa can shred the Wyvern effectively. She also can inflict 2 stacks of poison (a debuff that deals a percentage of the target's HP per tick). While she's easy to obtain because of her low rarity, Alexa's gear requirement isn't that high because of her elemental advantage over the Wyvern.

    Elson

Elson Lloyd

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_elson.png
Voiced by: Griffin Burns (English), Shun Horie (Japanese)
Rarity: 3★
Element: Light
Class: Soul Weaver
Zodiac Sign: Pisces

A kind and friendly member of the Order of the Sword.

  • Child Soldier: At a very young age and appearance, he's already a knight... Well, sort of, a knight apprentice to be exact.
  • Combat Medic: He's a knight whose second and third skills heal his allies.
  • Com Mons: He's one of the (if not the) most common Heroes that you can get in a Moonlight Summon.
  • Curtains Match the Window: He has greenish hair and green eyes.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Elson lacks confidence.
  • Minor Living Alone: His parents left for Savara to start a business of their own.
  • Starter Mon: Elson is the only Light-elemental Moonlight Hero, making him the starter Light Hero before players can even access the Moonlight Summons.

Ezera - Order of the Shield

    Maya
"This is the strength of the Order of the Shield."
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_maya.png
Voiced by: Sumalee Montano (English), Saki Fujita (Japanese)
Rarity: 4★
Element: Fire
Class: Knight
Zodiac Sign: Aries

A devoted member of the Order of the Shield. Maya cares greatly for her family back home.

  • The Apprentice: She's an apprentice knight of the Order of the Shield.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: She's a Knight whose skills inflict status ailments on the enemy. Her first and second skills can Stun, while her ultimate skill can decrease the enemies' attack and Provoke them. Problem is, these debuffs are chance-based, and start off with low numbers. It takes some Mola investment to make her a reliable debuffer.
  • Cleavage Window: Her outfit exposes this.
  • Draw Aggro: Her third skill, "Fraudulent Cry", has a chance of provoking the enemies into attacking her, while also decreasing their attack. This ability also increases her defense in preparation.
  • Jack of All Stats: Maya has excellent or well-rounded HP, Defense and Speed stats for a 4★ Knight. While her attack stat is on the average, it's to be expected for Knight-class Heroes anyway.
  • Shield Bash: Her second skill, "Concuss" makes Maya attack with her shield.
  • Situational Damage Attack: Her offensive skills, "Weak Blow" and "Concuss" scale their damage proportional to Maya's defense.
  • Super-Strength: Maya boasts incredible arm strength and can carry a heavy mace one-handed.

    Crozet

Crozet Morbihan

"This is the Goddess's judgment!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_crozet.png
Voiced by: Jeff Schine (English), Ryota Takeuchi (Japanese)
Rarity: 4★
Element: Ice
Class: Knight
Zodiac Sign: Cancer

Knight Commander of the Order of the Shield.

  • Badass Cape: His grey armor has a white cape attached on it.
  • Barrier Warrior: His "Mark of Protection" passive skill grants a barrier to an ally who has less than half of their health. When Awakened, this skill only procs once per turn.
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • In Chapter 6, he was easily tricked by Tenebria's magic and illusions.
    • During Lorina's exam to become an official knight, he gets kidnapped by a wyvern and Lorina defeats it all on her own, even though she was originally supposed to fight Crozet himself, allowing her to advance immediately to Vice Commander.
    • In Iseria's Side Story, she absolutely crushes Crozet in friendly combat, whereas Charles and Cermia prove to be much more difficult for her to handle.
    • He also nearly gets killed by Straze in Chapter 9 of Godkiller.
    • Oh, and he still hasn't won over Jena quite yet (not for lack of effort), though neither has his Moonlight copy.
  • By-the-Book Cop: He's very strict when it comes to following the rules. Unfortunately, he's also notoriously inflexible on them.
  • Draw Aggro: His "Breakthrough" skill has a chance to provoke all enemies for 1 turn.
  • Knightly Sword and Shield: And also larger than typical examples, as well as having the designs of the Order of the Shield.
  • Love Triangle: He's got a crush on Jena – unfortunately for him, so does his Moonlight copy. The 2020 Valentine's Day side story focused on their rivalry and competition over winning her heart.
  • Situational Damage Attack: His "Rush" and "Breakthrough" skills scale their damage proportionally to Crozet's Defense stat.
  • The Worf Effect: He's gotten tricked by Tenebria, kidnapped by a Wyvern, beaten up by Iseria in what was supposed to be her trial to become a member of the Order of the Sword, and absolutely manhandled by Straze.

    Lorina

Lorina Lilin

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_lorina_v2.png
Voiced by: Amanda Leighton (English), Yuu Serizawa (Japanese)
Rarity: 3★
Element: Dark
Class: Warrior
Zodiac Sign: Leo

An apprentice of the Order of the Shield who wishes to become a knight.

  • Alliterative Name: Lorina Lilin
  • Almighty Janitor: She's only an apprentice knight but proves skilled enough in her final trial to single-handedly stop a wyvern from kidnapping and killing Commander Crozet, who immediately afterwards promotes her to Vice Commander. This implies that, through her rigorous and determined training, she may have become even more powerful and skilled than he is.
  • The Apprentice: What Lorina starts out as.
  • Artificial Stupidity: Lorina's ultimate deals more damage the lower her enemy's HP is, but the AI could prioritize Light-elemental targets with full HP even if other non-Light enemies would've taken more damage from her ultimate.
  • Battle Ballgown: Her skirt isn't exactly just clothing, they also have armor plates on both sides of her hips.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Tenebria uses her illusions on Lorina to make her see the heroes as enemies. They manage to break her out of it and she swears to train harder so as never to fall for such a trick again.
  • Extra Turn: When Soul Burned, Lorina's ultimate skill would grant her an extra turn.
  • Fatal Flaw: Lorina is easily tricked by others, thus she became vulnerable to Tenebria's illusions.
  • Gathering Steam: Her passive skill, "Spiritual Armament", increases Lorina's attack stat everytime she attacks an enemy. This stacks up to 5 times
  • Simple, yet Awesome:
    • Lorina is a 3★ Dark-elemental, but she happens to be one of the best damage dealers who scales well with critical damage and chance due to her passive that makes her stronger whenever she attacks. While dark and light characters are exclusive in Moonlight Summons, she is fortunately obtainable through Connections, and even the level 70 Attack and Critical Set obtainable from Adventurer's Path is an incredibly good equipment set for her. Being dark-elemental means she can easily be slotted into any team composition. The only thing that holds her back is her naturally low base speed and her Specialty Change quests are notoriously grindy, but is worth it in the long run.
    • Damaging skills that scale proportionally to the enemy's lost HP are are strong against enemies that took a beating. Lorina's third skill is one of these.
  • Situational Damage Attack: Her ultimate skill deals damage proportional to the amount of the enemy's lost HP.
  • Tap on the Head: Ras is forced to knock her unconscious to avoid her realizing its him under the hood, but predicts that she'll be fine in an hour or two. Sure enough, in the very next level she is awake and reporting the hooded stranger to Crozet, seemingly none the worse for wear, if a bit ashamed that a "stranger" beat her.
  • Took a Level in Badass: She single-handedly defeats a wyvern who was manhandling Crozet. This causes the latter to promote Lorina to Vice Commander of the Order of the Shield, granting her new armor and a cape. This promotion drastically increases her power, speed and health in the game.

Ezera - Holy Order of the Blue Cross

    Achates

Achates Larunda

"Spread wings of light."

Voiced by: Cassandra Lee Morris (English), Misaki Kuno (Japanese)
Rarity: 4★
Element: Fire
Class: Soul Weaver
Zodiac Sign: Gemini

A child of Rosvalt who joined the Holy Order of the Blue Cross.

  • Anti-Debuff: Her ultimate skill, "Curing Prayer", dispels all debuffs from the entire team before healing them.
  • Blue Blood: Her parent, Rosvalt, is an advisor to the former king of Ezera.
  • Fragile Speedster: Achates is one of those with the highest Speed stat among Soul Weavers. Unfortunately, her low base HP makes her fragile.
  • Saving the World: She joined the Order with the wish to save the world through the Goddess's mercy.
  • Simple, yet Awesome: Her second skill, "Rapid Cure", is quite packed. Within this single skill, Achates not only heals an ally, she can also decrease their cooldowns and grant a barrier. When Awakened, the barrier buff gets upgraded instead to an Invincibility buff.

    Clarissa

Clarissa Mariposa

Voiced by: Abby Trott (English), Ayaka Suwa (Japanese)
Rarity: 4★
Element: Ice
Class: Warrior
Zodiac Sign: Leo

A young nun of the Holy Order of the Blue Cross.

  • Area of Effect: The attack launched by her passive skill as well as her ultimate move are both AoE attacks.
  • Badass Adorable: She may be known for her purity, but Clarissa also has a fighting nature deep inside her.
  • Blood Knight: Oh, most definitely.
  • Combos: When an enemy dies from either of her first or third skills, Clarissa's passive makes her perform an extra AoE attack immediately.
  • Cute and Psycho: Is calm outside of combat, but goes ballistics when participating in one. This is a result of her Split Personality.
  • Damage-Increasing Debuff: Her basic attack has a chance to decrease the enemy's defense for 2 turns.
  • Eyes Always Shut: Just look at the image, her regular expression is this. Although when she opens her eyes, it's at that time when she reveals her Slasher Smile and psychotic gaze.
  • Girl with Psycho Weapon: She wields a combination of chained morningstars with an axe attached to one end.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Half the time, that is. See her Split Personality.
  • Laughing Mad:
Clarissa: I'll kill you! AND you! AND YOU, HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
  • Mascot: Clarissa's purity made her a mascot of the Blue Cross church.
  • Nun Too Holy: She's a nun indeed, but she also has a psychotic personality deep inside. Also, have you ever seen a nun who wields chained morningstars?
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The icon of her "Hysteric" skill shows a close-up of Clarissa's enraged face with glowing red eyes.
  • The Rival: Shares this dynamic with Lots.
  • Situational Damage Attack: The damage of her "Hysteric" skill is increased when she is enraged.
  • Slasher Smile: She has a habit of pulling these during her animation when using her third skill.
  • Split Personality: Half the time she's kind, sweet and adorable, the other half she is contemplating how best to dismember her enemies.
  • Suddenly Shouting:
Clarissa: The path once tread by the goddess... WILL BE COVERED IN YOUR BLOOOOOD!!!!

High Priestess of the Holy Order of the Blue Cross
Voiced by: Nikki SooHoo (English), Yukari Tamura (Japanese)
Rarity: 4★
Element: Ice
Class: Soul Weaver
Zodiac Sign: Cancer

High Priestess of the Holy Order of the Blue Cross.

  • Anti-Debuff: Her ultimate skill also grants debuff immunity to the party for 2 turns.
  • Barrier Warrior: Her "Guide of the Goddess" skill grants a barrier to all allies after healing them.
  • Braids of Action: She has two braided strands, but the "action" is a downplayed part since Angelica is a healer.
  • Breakout Character:
    • She's even the game's official app icon for a long time!
    • In real-life promotions, Angelica served as the Series Mascot for Epic Seven since she's featured in the center of advertisements, especially when the game just launched in Japan on late 2019.
  • Catchphrase: "As the Goddess wills it" and "Is this the will of the Goddess?" Both of which are similar in context.
  • Child Prodigy: Zig-zagged. Angelica may look like a child and is a healer of incredible divine power, but she's actually older than she looks.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: When enhanced at +3, her ultimate skill can have a permanent uptime on her buffs thanks to its Soul Burn mechanic where the 4-turn buff duration is the same as the skill's cooldown. This tactic is only beneficial if you have enough Souls to spare for every 4 turns because a single Soul Burn enhancement of this skill costs 20 Souls.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Whenever she uses her third skill, the animation zooms into her face, revealing heart-shaped pupils as she opens her eyes.
  • Hidden Depths: Occasionally during battle, she has this to say:
    Angelica: I wanna retire already.
  • High Priestess: For the Holy Order of the Blue Cross.
  • Older Than They Look: Much older, in fact. She looked exactly the same back when Diene was much younger.
  • Stone Wall: For someone of her class and rarity, Angelica has high base HP and Defense stats. However, her Speed is very low.
  • Support Party Member: Her skillset revolves around the survivability of the team.

Voiced by: Amanda Philipson (English), Yuuko Oono (Japanese)
Rarity: 3★
Element: Ice
Class: Soul Weaver
Zodiac Sign: Pisces

An apprentice sister of the Holy Order of the Blue Cross.

  • Alliterative Name: Montmorancy Monza
  • The Apprentice: Montmorancy is an understudy of Achates and Clarissa.
  • Badass Adorable: She's a 3★ Soul Weaver who happens to be one of the best budget healers in the game.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: She's known to make a lot of mistakes. However, instead of blaming herself, she thrives to improve herself and help others instead.
  • Nice Girl: Despite her shyness and prone on making a lot of mistakes, she happens to be gentle, kind and helpful.
  • Shrinking Violet: She's soft-spoken and very shy.
  • Simple, yet Awesome: She's a 3★ Soul Weaver, but she happens to be one of the best 3★ healers in the game due to her heals scales based on target's maximum health instead of her own maximum health (meaning she scales better with Speed than flat health for more sustained healing), as well as cleansing debuffs on all allies and applying Debuff Immunity to a target ally. When she becomes Angelic Montmorancy, she'll end being one of the best healers in the game that rival even some 4★ and 5★ healers.
  • Spell Book: She casts magic after opening a page from her book.

Zodiac Sign: Scorpio

An arrogant man who joined the Rose Apostles through wrong methods.

  • Arc Villain: Of the first Valentine's Day event, in which he helps other nobles in a ploy to undermine the Ezera royal family.
  • Ambition Is Evil: He aims to replace Angelica as the High Priest of the Holy Order of the Blue Cross. He's also the most sinister of the Ezeran characters.
  • Badass Longcoat: His uniform is a blue longcoat with thematic designs.
  • Jerkass: There's really nothing good about his personality. He's opportunistic, backstabbing, cowardly, and conniving, and willing to do anything for his own benefit.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: He has an inflated sense of his own abilties.
  • Social Climber: Enott used his connections with a noble Ezera family to become a priest of the Rose Apostles.
  • Token Evil Teammate: He mostly just thinks for himself, didn't actually deserve his placement in the Apostles. He also framed Lidica for a crime, leading to her being kicked out of the Rose Apostles.

  • The Stoic: She is calm, cautious and is rarely agitated by anything.

  • Girlish Pigtails: They're also short, tied and curly, a rare variant compared to the classic examples of the trope.
  • Hidden Depths: She has a detailed understanding of the personal relationships and weaknesses of everyone in Reingar.
  • Shame If Something Happened: In "The Wandering Monster" hidden story of Chapter 2, she threatens exposing Adlay's and Azalea's weaknesses written on her ledger when they found out that one of Hazel's potions transformed Adlay into a monster.
  • Spell Book: She carries around a magic book.
  • Unfortunate Item Swap: In "The Wandering Monster" hidden story of Chapter 2, Hazel's transformation potions were in high demand just in time for the festival. However, she accidentally mixed a failed potion that Adlay drank, transforming him into a docile monster.

Voiced by: Amanda Leighton (English), Rina Hidaka (Japanese)
Rarity: 4★
Element: Ice
Class: Thief
Zodiac Sign: Leo

Second Lieutenant of Reingar's Public Security Club.

  • Accidental Misnaming: In Chapter 2, Karin has a tendency of misnaming Ras Eclare as "Ras Eglarer", and thinks that Arky is a cotton candy.
  • A Day in the Limelight: She's the central character in a Summer event, and thus has an obtainable swimsuit.
  • Badass Adorable: Who would have thought this cute girl happens to be the Second Lieutenant of Reingar's Public Security Club.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's generally friendly and willing to help others in need. Just don't try to commit a crime in front of her, even if it's petty theft.
  • Braids of Action: One side of her hair has this.
  • By-the-Book Cop: The Reingar Public Security Officers, especially Karin, have a good reason for trying to detain Ras and his friends. First, he lacks the proper identification papers to enter Reingar (or in his case, lost them), then he helps Yuna escape from the officers. Karin and her group are just following protocols.
  • Commonality Connection: Rin and Aramintha are close to each other because both of them lost somebody precious on the same day.
  • Critical Hit Class: Her entire skillset revolves around this trope or invokes it, since her abilities all benefit from Critical Hits:
    • Her first skill reduces cooldown by 1 on a critical hit.
    • A critical hit with her second skill decreases the enemy's defense.
    • A critical hit with her third skill deals even further increased damage.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Wears a thigh band on her left.
  • For Great Justice: Karin is righteous and justice-oriented, albeit a bit spontaneous.
  • The Heart: Many call her the conscience and the real boss of the Public Security Club.
  • Iaijutsu Practitioner: This seems to be her fighting style since her battle pose has her blade sheathed in its scabbard, and she unsheathes it with every attack.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: While Karin might be obsessed with chasing Yuna and the protagonists because of their offenses at the first half of Chapter 2, Plum escaping with a Dark Magic Stone is a more serious issue, so she had to help the protagonists deal with him until the end. Karin may be strict when it comes to protocols, but she can be reasoned with when something bigger is at stake.
  • Skewed Priorities: She seems so obsessed with listing the offenses that Ras, Arky and Mercedes made, allowing them to escape the prison just because it's another offense that she can charge them later.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Both Karin and Celine fight using katanas and the iaido style.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Karin has the same complexion and hair color as her aunt Celine.

  • Ship Tease: The "Reignar's Chaotic Full Moon Festival" event gives a ship tease to out of all people, Adlay and Tenebria!

  • Facial Markings: Has two small black stripes across each cheek.
  • Only in It for the Money: A common trope amongst the Longtail Company, what with being mercenaries and all. In Chapter 3, Kluri and Assassin Coli were hired by Nehenqui to stall Ras and his friends so that Nehenqui could finally escape. • The Beastmaster: She wants to be the star of a circus show featuring many of the monsters found throughout Orbis, and she has the talents to train them well.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: She wanted to control the island, force Achates and Basar to be her servants and fellow monster tamers, and imprison everyone else, but Sinful Angelica's machinations forced her to see the error of her ways and have a change of heart.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: In the second Summer Event, she is brought down at the end of the second map. The third map is about her allying with the protagonists to defeat the real Arc Villain, Sinful Angelica.
  • Easily Forgiven: The other heroes forgive her quickly for imprisoning some of them and forcibly training others to be her coworkers (including literally whipping Basar in her attempts to make him her clown), though this might be mitigated by the fact that she actively assists them in defeating the real enemy and saving Angelica, and she swears to change her ways, wanting to sell the island once again. Basar offers her a place to perform in Savara.
  • Enemy Mine: She joins the heroes in stopping Sinful Angelica, and soon performs an outright Heel–Face Turn.
  • Evil All Along: Evil is debatable, but there was definitely something wrong with her from the beginning, especially with how willing she was to imprison those who were sneaking around the island, causing her friendly facade to (mostly) disappear.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Decides never to imprison or abuse anyone into working for her again, and sells the island. Basar offers for her to find work performing in Savara for him.
  • I Lied: She originally claimed that she was working for the master of the island, but eventually reveals that she took ownership when he left some time ago.
  • Whip of Dominance: Mui is a whip-wielding monster tamer who uses her whip both as a weapon and as a tool to control and direct her monsters. Despite this, she's not shown to be cruel towards her beasts, but she does have a domineering side and will use her whip on those she deems her "servants". During the story, she even captures Basan and tries to "train" him into becoming a clown in her circus by repeatedly whipping him.

While they did manage to obtain the items, Rima accidentally tore the sheets when she got scared by a rat. Ras convinced her to make a new song instead of relying on old song sheets.
  • Ship Tease: During the Hidden Story titled "In Search for a Song", Rima ships herself with Ras via her song, alluding him as the handsome hero who took Rima's hand and fell in love in her. Ras is shocked speechless, while Mercedes got jealous and told her to stop making things up.
  • Status Infliction Attack: Her second skill, "Lullaby Arrow", can inflict the Sleep debuff on the enemy.
  • Thinks Like a Romance Novel: As expected from someone who knows poems and songs, Rima lampshades how a hero is expected to help a girl when Ras asked what's troubling her. When he agrees to help, she explains that Ras would've looked cooler if he called Rima a "beautiful maiden".
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She hates rats. Rima wanted to obtain the song sheets in the Wandering Poet's Grave, but since there are too many rats inside, she doesn't want to go. That is, until Ras, Arky and Mercedes accompanied her to deal with them.

  • Commonality Connection: Yufine and Silk love gossip and that's even before they became close friends.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: In "Unrecorded History", she doesn't easily recognize Ras under a black hood, while Basar did so at first glance.
  • Navel Window: Self-explanatory, her outit reveals her navel while still covering her hips.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_mercedes.png
Homunculus of the Last Spellbook
Click here to see Archdemon Mercedes
Voiced by: Joy Osmanski (English), Arisa Sakuraba (Japanese)
Rarity: 4★
Element: Fire
Class: Mage
Zodiac Sign: Scorpio

A Homunculus placed in the care of Queen Diene years ago. Mercedes is the heroine of the main story alongside Ras and Arky.

  • Action Girl: She can effectively hold her own with a spellbook. But this trope gets turned up a notch later in the story when Anghraf channels magic through her.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Arkasus always refers to her as "Meru". Ras eventually starts calling her this as well.
  • Amnesiac Hero: She woke up with no memories, and was brought into Tirel Castle under Queen Diene's care all thanks to Krau.
  • Area of Effect: Her spells hit all enemies at once.
  • Badass Adorable: Mercedes has a lot of cute moments, especially when she's with Ras and Arky... And she also knows enough spell proficiency to zap enemies.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Why she holds both Diene and Ras in such high regard.
  • Big Damn Heroes: She interrupts Arbiter Vildred from killing a weakened Ras.
  • Boring, but Practical:
    • Her skillset only deals Area of Effect damage and doesn't offer anything else, no team buffs, no enemy debuffs, nothing, no utility at all. However, being an AoE unit means that she can carry your fodders and Phantasmas early game for some efficient Level Grinding if the player hasn't found any replacement AoE farmer for Mercedes yet.
    • As of 2020, there's one particular boss where Mercedes shines in despite having a simplistic kit - Blooming Snag Lich. In that boss fight, single-target damage is heavily reduced while AoE damage is significantly buffed. All of Mercedes's skills are AoE so she benefits a lot here.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: What Anghraf does to her to make her into the perfect new body for himself. Ras eventually manages to free her once and for all in the Episode 1 Epilogue, Unrecorded History.
  • Brought Down to Badass: It's unknown if she still retains any of (or all of) the full might of Anghraf after being separated from his soul, however this does not make her any less of an ass-kicker. Later on, it actually doesn't seem as though she's lost any of her power, considering she can hold her own against Straze (albeit with her teammates), battle an illusion of herself (Archdemon Mercedes) created by Fastus, and later she manages to take on Fastus himself (also with her teammates), all without becoming the Archdemon again.
  • Bystander Syndrome: Subverted. In Chapter 2, Mercedes hesitates in helping Gusma simply because no one has commanded her to help yet, until Ras came into the merchant's rescue and she followed suit.
  • Came Back Wrong: Upon Anghraf being permanently killed while inhabiting her body, her figure returns to normal but her eyes are red and blank and she seems completely unresponsive. This is because her soul is still entangled with Anghraf's. Ras then goes on a new quest to restore her soul properly.
  • Cannot Keep a Secret: She reveals that Arky took the map and wanted to mark the restaurants between Levulin and Savara, which explains why Ras can't find the map when they arrived to their destination in Chapter 3.
Arkasus: Meru! Don't tell him that!
Mercedes: Ah, I'm sorry! Was it meant to be a secret?
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: During the Hidden Story titled "In Search for a Song", Rima ships herself as a girl whom Ras fell in love with. Mercedes doesn't want any of that and told Rima to stop with such outlandish lies.
  • Dark Action Girl: As Archdemon Mercedes.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She was created to be a vessel for Anghraf to inhabit and eventually become the most powerful homunculus/wraith of all time, and perhaps the most powerful being in all of Orbis.
  • Dark Is Evil: Once she merges with Anghraf to become Archdemon Mercedes.
  • Demonic Possession: Anghraf does this to her.
  • Deuteragonist: She is a part of the protagonist trio along with Ras and Arky.
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Mercedes's eyes become lifeless when Anghraf takes over her.
  • Emotionless Girl: Mercedes has a poker face that gives away little emotion. Eventually, she shows herself to be a subversion with her loyalty towards Diene and later Ras.
  • Final Boss: For the entirety of Episode 1 as Archdemon Mercedes, being possessed by Anghraf.
  • Fish out of Water: At the start of the story, Mercedes finds it difficult to understand some concepts, such as people having phobias. Her case was even worse than Ras and Arky because while they don't understand humans in general, they still know some concepts that Mercedes doesn't.
  • Fusion Dance: Anghraf merged with her body for them to become Archdemon Mercedes.
  • Gag Echo: Sometimes, she may awkwardly mimic others or repeat what they say.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In Chapter 7, Mercedes teleports Ras and Arky away, herself staying behind just as she saves the former during their fight against an empowered Vildred.
  • Holy Halo: Villainous example (while she is possessed). Upon emerging as the new Archdemon, she sports a halo eerily reminiscent of that of Fused Zamasu.
  • In the Back: How she (under Anghraf's Demonic Possession) permanently kills Vildred.
  • Lady and Knight: The dynamic between Mercedes and Ras. The latter is even categorized as a Knight class in-game.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's fairly conservative in her ordinary attire, but this applies more when she gets possessed by the Archdemon, deciding to don a sexier outfit.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Since you cannot receive duplicate units of Mercedes from the gacha, her Memory imprints require a unique item that is only obtained in certain Story missions. Surprisingly, even her Celestial Mercedes counterpart can use them to improve her own imprints.
  • Nice Girl: A unique trait of hers that other characters noticed. Despite being a Homunculus, Mercedes gains some character development all throughout the story, turns into this trope. Most believe that it has something to do with her bonds with Ras and Arky.
  • One-Winged Angel: What Anghraf does to her body after taking her over and regaining the last Archdemon's Might, turning her into a demonic being with an ominous halo.
  • Power Floats: In both her forms.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: After her possession.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Upon becoming Archdemon Mercedes.
  • Say My Name: She yells for Ras to hear her after Straze impales him.
  • Sensible Heroes, Skimpy Villains: Her transition to Archdemon Mercedes reveals more of her skin, especially her midriff.
  • Ship Tease: Ras being shipped with Mercedes (the first girl and most likely the Official Couple).
  • Soul Jar: She essentially becomes a living version of this for Anghraf.
  • Skyward Scream: After she thinks Ras has been killed.
  • Spell Book: Implied to be her specialization, as noted by her epitaph of "Homunculus of the Last Spellbook".
  • Split Personality: She accepts the commands of Anghraf while he is inside her body, which they both seem to share.
  • Starter Mon: Mercedes is given for free as the first 4★ Fire Hero that everyone obtains.
  • Too Awesome to Use: Mercedes requires a unique item for her Memory Imprints. That item is only obtainable in certain stages and thus come with a limited amount, but players are more likely using it on Celestial Mercedes instead since she's a Moonlight Hero.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Upon merging with the Archdemon, her power skyrockets to horrifyingly godlike levels.
  • Undying Loyalty: Despite being a Wraith, Meru is very loyal to Queen Diene.
Mercedes: Queen Diene's enemies are my enemies... I merely do as she commands.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: As Archdemon Mercedes.
  • White Sheep: To Homunculi and Wraiths as a whole.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: She never asked to become Archdemon Mercedes. Unfortunately, Anghraf's soul was able to overpower hers - for a time, anyways.
  • World's Strongest Woman: Archdemon Mercedes has the power to potentially wipe out the planet.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: In Chapter 4, Mercedes became unconscious because of the tremendous dark energies flowing within the Solayu forest. She saw visions of people mistrusting her, and thus considers joining the Archdemon. Fortunately, she wakes up after seeing a vision of Ras telling Mercedes that he trusts her.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Kills Vildred to take back the remaining Archdemon's Might.

Zodiac Sign: Capricorn

  • Ax-Crazy: Very much so, screaming repeatedly at her enemies to die.
  • Badass Adorable: So cute and so dangerous.
  • Blood Knight
  • The Brute: She's the most destructively powerful of the homunculi (not counting Archdemon Mercedes) as she has no trouble wiping out most of the heroes' forces.
  • Cute and Psycho
  • Dark Action Girl
  • The Dragon: For Tenebria, whom she looks up to and worships.
  • Dragon Their Feet: Tenebria (whom she looks up to) is temporarily killed in Chapter 6 and does not return for the rest of the storyline and Sigret (the leader of the Homunculus Unit) is Killed Off for Real in Chapter 9. Ravi, on the other hand, is not battled until Chapter 10 where she announces her intentions to avenge Tenebria. She returns again in Unrecorded History after the Archdemon has been destroyed and attempts to steal his soul from Ras to use for herself.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Present in her legs. She wears a golden thigh band on her left, while the right one wears socks.
  • Gathering Steam: Ravi's passive skill, "Demon's Blood," increases her Attack by 15% and her Effectiveness by 10% whenever she attacks or is attacked, stacking up to 5 times.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She has rather long twintails.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Antagonist example. She worships the ground Tenebria walks on and is in disbelief that the heroes could have possibly defeated her.
  • The Leader: She is in charge of the Homunculus army in Visitors from Another World.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Incredibly powerful and fast.
  • One-Woman Army: She heavily cripples the opposing forces all on her own.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: As Kayron explains to Friedrich, Ravi brings absolute explosive carnage to the battlefield.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: She may be smaller than most, but she is capable of obliterating an army.
  • Revenge: Her motive for attacking the heroes is to avenge Tenebria.
  • Slasher Smile: Does this when cornering Iseria and Yuna, and again when she tries to take the Archdemon's Might from Ras in Unrecorded History.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: She only appears in the final two chapters of The Heir of the Covenant but she manages to decimate a major portion of the heroes' army with ease.
  • Stone Wall: All but one of her Potential Stones for Awakening increase her max HP. The one stone that doesn't increases her Defense instead.
  • Sweet Tooth: She mentions having a love for sweets while sitting around the campfire.
  • Throwing Your Sword Always Works: An axe variant. Ravi throws her axe at the opponent as a starter to her third skill's animation. She then rushes toward the enemy to beat them up while covered in dust from the axe's impact.
  • Tragic Villain: Ravi was taken from her home at a young age and turned into a Wraith, now only seeing Tenebria as the closest thing she has to The Mentor.
  • Uncertain Doom: After her defeat in the crossover, it is never stated whether or not she died.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: After she is defeated once again in Visitors from Another World, her final fate is currently unknown.

  • Artificial Human: Sigret is a Homonculus, created by the previous Taranor King in an attempt to "revive" his lover, Kise. This explains Sigret's resemblance to the latter.
  • Back from the Dead: In Visitors From Another World's arena, she returns alive without any idea how it happened.
  • Delaying Action: By the orders of Vildred, Sigret was sent to stop Ras from following him in Savara.
  • The Dragon: To Vildred, Kayron and King Friedrich.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Wears glasses but sides with the antagonists.
  • Identical Stranger: She was created to strongly resemble the late Judge Kise, albeit with much shorter hair and glasses.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: By Krau at the end of Chapter 9.
  • The Leader: For the Homunculus Unit.
  • Only Mostly Dead: In The Stinger of her side story, Ludwig suggests that, as she has traces of Nocturne's power, she can be resurrected. She returns alive without any idea how it happened in the arena of Visitors From Another World.
  • Power Glows: Her scythe's blade glows orange-red when it's her turn.
  • Sinister Scythe: Downplayed. Her weapon might look like a stick or a staff, but one of her attacks make a scythe-like blade appear in the tip to slash her enemies.
  • We Can Rule Together: In Chapter 7, Sigret tries to convince Mercedes to abandon her emotions and join the Archdemon, but the girl refuses.
  • You Remind Me of X: After their fight, Ras sensed something within Sigret that's similar to Mercedes. It's a hint that Sigret is also a homunculus.

  • Hidden Depths: She is quick-witted and has good conversational skills.
  • Honorary True Companion: To the Longtail and Wild Dog Companies. In the past, she helped save Cidd's life, so when he found her trying to hide in Whetheric Moor, he began protecting her and asked Armin to look after her. She's now considered close to both groups as a result.

  • Badass Armfold: His pose, just look at his artwork.
  • Badass in Distress: Purrgis is injured and says that he's also an Heir, demanding Ras to help him since the latter is the Heir of the Covenant. He also claims that somebody stole his Guardian.
  • Bad Liar: In Chapter 3, Purrgis keeps on insisting that he's an Heir and is looking for his missing Guardian. But he can't fool Ras when the topic is about Heirs (Ras is the leader after all), and Arky says that he can't recall Purrgis being an Heir either.
  • Beast Man: Or humanoid cat-man to be precise.
  • BFS: He carries a large and thick sword on his back.
  • Counter-Attack: His main gimmick is his passive skill. By making him receive an attack, he has a chance of counterattacking with his 1st skill that affects all enemies with an added effect of causing stun. Counterattacks done by the counterattack set also triggers this.
  • Delaying Action: Purrgis didn't expect that the heroes' investigation in Savara is about to end before the evidences of the Nehenqui Merchant Guild's crimes have been disposed, so he set up a delaying tactic of attracting monsters to buy some time and distract Ras, Arky and Mercedes. When that didn't work, Purrgis fought them personally instead.
  • The Dragon: He's actually working with Nehenqui in order to distract the heroes in their investigation. There's a line in Chapter 3 Act 5 that hints this easily - Nehenqui commands Purrgis to help in the missing Guardian but also tells him not to come back too soon.
  • Face–Heel Turn: After the fight with Sigret in Chapter 3, Purrgis betrays the protagonists and attacks them in order to buy time for Nehenqui to escape.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: His spiked shoulder pad is only on his left side.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: When Ras spared Purrgis despite having been betrayed by him, he told the heroes where Nehenqui is planning to escape, allowing Ras to catch the culprit on time. Nehenqui is enraged that his location got sold out, calling Purrgis a traitor.
  • Mighty Glacier: He is slow, but he has a bulk of HP and a decent attack. His main gimmick is tanking hits and counterattacking with an attack that leaves most enemies stunned.
  • Mistaken for Servant: As Ras becomes more suspicious of Purrgis in Chapter 3, he thought that Purrgis is also working with Vildred, but the Suin denied, saying that he only came for his supposedly missing Guardian.
  • Punny Name: He looks like a large humanoid cat, and his name is Purrgis.
  • Shoulders of Doom: It also has several large spikes.

  • Inadequate Inheritor: She feels this way about herself, calling herself weak and far less capable than any other successor of any other Spirit Lord. Ras disagrees with her, and eventually manages to lift her spirits.
  • Little Bit Beastly: She is a female Suin who has bunny ears.
  • Out of Focus: She is unconscious for the entirety of the third floor of Nixied's Sanctum (due to Challenger Dominiel knocking her out in a fight on the second) and therefore she does not show up until Ras manages to wake her in the fourth floor.
  • Shy Blue-Haired Girl: She tends to come off as this, at first hiding from Ras and then being very quiet and nervous when she joins him.
  • The Worf Effect: Challenger Dominiel defeats and knocks her out, leaving her absent for the third floor until she wakes up in the fourth.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Ras tells her this in order to wipe away her insecurities and says he feels confident and optimistic with her by his side.

  • Anime Hair: Yellow spiky hair, just like Cloud Strife.
  • Badass Cape: He wears a black worn-out cape, although his pose still makes it badass.
  • Dual Wielding: Sven uses twin swords. When they're not in use, he holsters them on both sides of his waist.
  • Mr. Fanservice: His unarmored front shows his abs.
  • Scars Are Forever: His exposed abdomen has permanent, large claw scratches.
  • Skewed Priorities: In "The Archdemon's Kitchen" hidden story of Chapter 2S, Sven fought the heroes simply because they were getting in the way of a Mossy Tetsudo, a monster that's used as an ingredient for the monster cooking contests, which he also wants to participate in.

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: His complexion can be described as stone-like grey, which is similar to most Church of Ilryos devotees.
  • The Faceless: He never takes his helmet off.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: His belt is slanted in an angle.
  • Knightly Sword and Shield: A sinister variant, perhaps a trademark of the Church of Ilryos - He uses a small round shield, and a thick sword, both of which look overused or rusted already.
  • No Name Given: His moniker might just be referring to his position, as he is not given a unique name unlike most Heroes.

  • A Day in the Limelight: She's the starring character in the "A Prayer to the Waxing Moon" side story event.
  • Cooldown Manipulation: Her third skill, "Nocturne", increases the enemy's special skill cooldown by 2, which makes her an excellent Hero for delaying a boss's ultimate attack.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: Kise wears a dark blue night gown with some starry patterns underneath.
  • Posthumous Character
  • Sacrificial Lion
  • Sinister Scythe: Her scythe is so huge that it appears to be just as tall as her, if not larger than her entirely.
  • This Looks Like a Job for Aquaman: She greatly shines against enemies and bosses that loves to buff themselves, as her basic skill, "Full Moon Scythe", deals 70% more damage against buffed enemies. In PvE content, this at least makes her viable in harder fights, like Wyvern Hunt 11.
