The American Dream awaits you...

The Fall Of Liberty City Heroes is a Grand Theft Auto machinima created by JANTSUU. It tells the story of Niko, Johnny and Luis travelling together to Los Santos in search for a better life after watching an ad about it, but things take a turn when their plane crashes down in the middle of the desert.

Beware of spoilers!

Tropes found in the movie:

  • Agent Mulder: Johnny believes in zombies, as he immediately suggests that that's what attacked him and Luis after Niko saves them.
  • Agent Scully: After saving Johnny and Luis from the first zombie to appear, Niko is told by the two that there are zombies, and Niko scoffs at that notion...only to turn around and find a horde of zombies slowly marching towards them.
  • Are You Sure You Want to Do That?: This question is posed by Luis to Niko regarding his plan of gathering all the zombies they can attract into one building then blow it up. Niko responds with a Blunt "Yes".
  • Aside Glance: Done by Niko at the end of the movie.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: The zombies function like this as a group.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Luis and Johnny are separated from Niko after he jumps from the plane using the parachute. He comes along later just in time to shoot the zombie that was about to attack them.
  • Big "NO!":
    • Niko lets one out as a Skyward Scream after experiencing a mirage.
    • Luis yells in fear and concern after Niko jumps off the plane with the parachute.
    • Johnny yells it as the first zombie approaches him and Luis.
  • Blood Knight: Johnny seems to enjoy himself during their fight at the camp, evident by his hammy "Yeehaw!".
  • Blunt "Yes":
    Niko: (nodding) Yes.
  • Bond One-Liner: Luis delivers one after accidentally killing the survivor: Sorry!
  • Boom, Headshot!: How Niko dispatches the first zombie and saves Luis and Johnny.
  • Butt-Monkey: Luis. He gets beaten up by Johnny on the plane, gets buried under sand after it crashes, encounters the first zombie which terrifies him, gets the weakest weapon in the tent and ends up accidentally killing the survivor and hiding it.
  • Conflict Killer: A non-evil example. The movie starts with the three protagonists running into each other with their vehicles. They argue and are about to fight (Johnny even pulls out a shotgun on the other two). That's when the advert that serves as the catalyst of the movie comes in. All three think about now is getting to the airport.
  • Contrived Coincidence: The way the protagonists meet is set up this way. Firstly, Luis is driving along normally until his car breaks down so he gets out and takes a look at the engine. Meanwhile, Niko is coming up in the exact same road (in the same frame, we see Johnny driving up behind him). Niko's radio starts getting scratchy so he tries to fix it as he continues driving...straight into the back of Luis' car, knocking the latter down. As Niko is about to leave his own car, Johnny continues driving and gets forcibly dismounted when he hits the car door that Niko opens.
  • The Dead Have Eyes: Upon closer inspection, it looks like the zombies have whited-out eyes, yet they are still able to see their victims easily.
  • Disposing of a Body: After Luis accidentally kills the survivor, he kicks the body off the cliff.
    Luis: Sorry!
  • Failed a Spot Check: When the survivor and Johnny go to look for a tire, the former fails to notice a garage full of them that's just behind him.
  • Fearless Undead: Niko relies in this to come up with a plan that involves gathering all zombies by baiting them using himself into a building with planted bombs.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Nike, Luis and Johnny fight two times before becoming a proper team. The first one (with their vehicules as described above). The second one occurs on the plane after Niko shoots the pilot and the plane spirals out of control...then they spot one single parachute.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: None of the three protagonists are really fond of the survivor guy. When he accidentally get killed by Luis and they don't find him, here's what Johnny has to say about it:
    Johnny: That's good.
  • Funny Background Event: Johnny noticing the garage full of tires while the survivor stands in his spot thinking about how to find tires.
  • Hates Small Talk: Implied by this interaction between Luis and Niko.
    Niko: So...
    Luis: Uhm...
    Niko: My name is Niko.
Luis: I know that, man. (walks away to sit on a rock and rest)
  • Here We Go Again!: After finally arriving to Los Santos, Niko texts Roman and tells him that he's living the American dream there. Roman immediately drives to the airport, while Niko looks at the camera and gives a devilish grin and chuckle.
  • I Didn't Mean to Kill Him: Niko ended up shooting the pilot fatally while he was testing his pistol.
  • I'll Kill You!: Niko yells this at the zombies.
  • Incongruously-Dressed Zombie: Justified, since the movie uses models of different NPCs from the games and each model differs in clothing.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Not a minute passes after Niko claims that there are no zombies and there's already a horde coming up to them behind him.
  • Irony:
    • Johnny is the one who finds a tire for the survivor's car, fixes it then drive the group to the camp despite being a biker who hates cars to the point of referring to them as cages.
    • Both weapons used by Niko and Johnny (the Combat MG and the Automatic Shotgun with explosive shells, respectively) are only featured in The Ballad of Gay Tony, yet Luis ends up forced to use the pistol which is available in all games.
  • Meaningful Background Event: Johnny can be spotted for a few seconds driving behind Niko on his motorcycle.
  • Mistaken for Undead: After their first zombie encounter, the three run into a survivor. Assuming the worst, Niko keeps his pistol pointed at him until he proves he's friendly.
  • Murder by Mistake: Justified with Luis' murder of the survivor. He mistook him for a zombie.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: You can basically pin the whole blame on for Niko who accidentally shooting the pilot of their plane fatally while in the middle of the desert, leading the three to face a lot of trouble to actually reach Los Santos. Both Luis and Johnny call him out on it.
    • He manages to do it a second time when they go to the survivor's camp and he messes around with a flare and attracts zombies towards them. This one is less costly, but still.
    Niko: Oops, my mistake.
  • Not a Zombie: Niko has to have an Instantly Proven Wrong moment in order to believe Johnny and Luis when they told him they ran into a zombie.
  • No Zombie Cannibals: The zombies only ever target the four men.
  • Oh, Crap!: Far, far too many to count. From the airplane spiraling out of control to encountering the zombies to planning a suicidal mission to get rid of them.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: The first zombie that appeared is the closest one any of them got to attack a human in the whole film, but we're not certain they actually eat them.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: Niko ends up getting the parachute and he uses it to jump off the plane before it crashes, leaving Luis and Johnny in it.
  • Skyward Scream: Niko lets out a Big "NO!" after he experiences a mirage in the desert and seen a soda vending machine and place where he can hide from the burning sun.
  • Perpetual-Motion Monster: Apart from the first zombie we see eating from the trash, the rest are all seen just attacking humans. At all times.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Niko to the zombies shortly before blowing them up: Goodbye!
  • Profane Last Words:
Survivor: (After Luis shoots him) Fucking asshole...
  • Right Behind Me: Niko declares that zombies aren't real. Cue a horde coming out of nowhere behind him, to his astonishment.
  • Understatement: "This is not good". Said Niko after shooting the pilot.
  • Wham Shot:
    • Niko accidentally shooting a bullet from his pistol on the plane. It hit the pilot.
    • The weird man that wakes Luis up turns around and faces the camera, revealing he's a zombie.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Luis and Johnny are royally pissed at Niko when he kills their pilot accidentally.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: The protagonists express this sentiment constantly about their predicament. Each one of them has said "bullshit" at least once.
  • Zombie Apocalypse: Not of the whole world but in the general area where Niko, Luis and Johnny ended up in, they come face to face with zombies.
  • Zombie Apocalypse Hero: All three protagonists become this gradually. The survivor guy also counts.
  • Zombie Gait: They're relatively slowed in here.
  • Zombie Infectee: The ultimate fate of the survivor. After being killed and pushed off a cliff by Luis, we later see him as a zombie.
