- Acting in the Dark: According to Liam McIntyre, it was a complete secret as to what the game was about when he auditioned for it and was expecting it to be a Dark Souls-esque medieval game before discovering it was for Star Wars.
- Colbert Bump: The use of “Anakin’s Dark Deeds” from Revenge of the Sith in the climactic surprise appearance from Darth Vader gave it a lot of exposure and renewed interest in the fandom.
- Creator's Oddball: Developer Respawn Entertainment was mostly known for multiplayer-focused First Person Shooters such as Titanfall and Apex Legends prior to making Fallen Order, which makes the turn to single-player Action-Adventure surprising. Also, while publisher Electronic Arts has released a number of single-player games throughout the years, the company had mostly distanced themselves from anything other than multiplayer-driven "live-service" titles for the majority of The New '10s before the game's release.
- Executive Meddling: One of rules given to the developers by Disney is that the lightsabers cannot dismember people outside of a few story moments. Of course, this mandate only applied to organic, humanoid limbs; droids, animals, and cyborgs are constantly dismembered in rather spectacular ways, while the occasional arm does go flying from the humanoid but explicitly undead Nightsisters. This was pointed out enough after launch that the sequel would allow for it, but offer an option to turn it off for humanoids.
- Meaningful Release Date: Not the game itself, but a patch containing many fan requested things was released May 4th (2020), aka Star Wars day.
- The Original Darrin:
- Darth Vader is voiced by Scott Lawrence, who was the main voice actor for the character in video games before Matt Sloan, but did not come back from the transition from the Legends continuity to the Canon continuity until this game and the Vader Immortal VR games.
- In the Mexican spanish dub, Miguel Ángel Ghigliazza voices the Clone Troopers for the first time since being replaced during season 3 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
- The Other Darrin:
- Although the Purge Troopers are Jango Fett-type clones, they aren't voiced by either Temuera Morrison or Dee Bradley Baker.
- In the Japanese dub, Darth Vader isn't voiced by his official voice actor, Taiten Kusunoki, being voiced in this game by Kotaro Nakamura instead.
- Role Reprise:
- Scott Lawrence reprises Darth Vader's voiceover in this game as well as the Vader Immortal VR games, nearly thirteen years after the last time he voiced the character in Empire at War. This is surprising, considering the transition from the Legends continuity to the new canon and Vader being voiced by either James Earl Jones or Matt Sloan during that time gap.
- Forest Whitaker reprises his role as Saw Gerrera from Rogue One and Star Wars Rebels.
- What Could Have Been:
- The extended physical edition of the artbook shows concept art for the Grand Inquisitor, but for whatever reason, he was cut from the game.
- Ideas for an alien and/or female protagonist were considered, but ultimately rejected in favor of Cal.
- Early concept art of Master Eno Cordova shows him as a Cereannote instead of a human.
- As revealed in a post-release interview for Jedi Survivor, the dual lightsabers were intended to be their own stance alongside the Single and Double stances. Unfortunately Respawn ran out of time and it was relegated to a few special moves: they were able to get the Dual Stance working in Fallen Order just a few weeks after shipping. Needless to say, the Dual Stance was incorporated into the sequel, and is unlocked an hour into the game to boot.
- Word of Saint Paul:
- Liam McIntyre views Malicos as not a villain, but a Tragic Hero who was broken by the events of Order 66 and being isolated on Dathomir for years. He also likes to believe Malicos' lightsabers were originally blue, and thinks that him having red lightsabers is Out of Character (he was not aware of the kyber crystal bleeding process until fans told him of it, which only strengthened his opinion that the red lightsabers didn't fit with his character).
- Also from Liam McIntyre, he's stated that both he and Travis Willingham headcanon that Jaro Tapal and Taron Malicos have worked together in the past.
- You Look Familiar:
- Liam McIntyre, the voice of Commander Pyre in Star Wars Resistance, also plays Taron Malicos here. According to McIntyre, he was Pyre first before he got the role of Malicos.
- Scott Lawrence, the voice of Jarek Yeager in Star Wars Resistance and the original The Other Darrin for James Earl Jones as Darth Vader before being replaced by Matt Sloan back in the Star Wars Legends-era games, reprises his role as Darth Vader here.
- Sumalee Montano, the voice of Agent Tierny in Star Wars Resistance and Shae Vizla in Star Wars: The Old Republic, also plays Mari Kosan here.
- From the Mexican Spanish dub, Rosalba Sotelo was Satine Kryze in The Clone Wars before voicing Cere Junda here; and José Luis Orozco, the voice of Jedi Master Eeth Koth and the clone troopers since season 3 of the same show, voices Eno Cordova.
- In European French, Vincent Violette voiced Eno Cordova. He previously dubbed Cad Bane in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (and would reprise the role in The Book of Boba Fett).
