If you thought they had just zombies to deal with, then you are dead wrong...

Also known as "The Last Human", Zuo Tianchen is a man who spent the last decade fighting for survival in a zombie-infested world, quite possibly the last remaining human left. Just when he thought he has died fighting a hopeless battle, he's surprised to find himself ten years in the past, back in high school, the day the zombie outbreak happened. Using this second chance and armed with his memories of his experiences in his past life, Tianchen vows to make things better by altering key points.

Moshi Fanren provides examples of the following tropes:

  • A-Cup Angst: Lansha gets annoyed at seeing how Hong Die has a big rack while she’s flat.
  • The Apocalypse Brings Out the Best in People: Played with. On the one hand, some people who wouldn't amount to much if it were not for the Zombie Apocalypse go on to become genuinely heroic like Gao Fei, Lansha, and Tianchen themselves. On the other, most of the antagonists are people who were bound by the rules of society finding themselves not having to hold back any more because the authorities are either occupied by far more serious matters, or completely absent, so they decide to live out their darkest desires on a captive audience.
  • The Assimilator: Lansha's best friend, Rui Xue, killed off the rest of her group of classmates by draining them dry.
=* Berserk Button: Do not call Tianchen fatherless. He also shows no mercy to those who backstab him.
  • BFS: Tianchen gets one delivered to him by Lin Wei in the battle against the giant zombie.
  • Bullet Time: Gao Fei is able to dodge bullets in Matrix style after evolving.
  • Bullying a Dragon: People tend to greatly underestimate Tianchen, thinking they can intimidate him with their power. He swiftly shows them why that's not a good idea.
    • Han Li, guard leader of the Zhao Family, makes the mistake of picking a fight with Tianchen, thinking his regenerative power along with his Muay Thai training give him the advantage. He greatly underestimated Tianchen's overwhelming strength.
    • Li Xuan and the Red Jacket Gang attempted to oppress survivors Tianchen and Xiao Yu were blending in with. Tianchen of course resists and gives them a counter-offer: disband their gang in three days or die. Li Xuan then tries to kill him to make an example out of him for daring to oppose them. He hulks out, muscles bulging, to kill Tianchen. He gets Tianchen's fist impaled right through his head for his troubles.
  • Crapsack World: Due to the Zombie Apocalypse, it naturally devolves into this.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Gao Fei and Luo Lansha can act goofy, but they are efficient fighters against the zombies and other freaks they come across thanks to Tianchen providing them the skills needed to survive the ruined world.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Tianchen can handle hordes of zombies and oppressive humans as if they were nothing. After evolving further, he can take on mutated zombies and lower evolved humans without trouble.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: Tianchen and his friends, Gao Fei, Lansha, Xiaoyu, and Shang-Biao.
  • Evil-Detecting Dog: Shang-Biao is a hamster who is able to tell if someone has been infected by the zombie virus.
  • Fat Bastard: Fatty Wei.
  • From Bad to Worse: It started off as a Zombie Apocalypse, then with gangs of evolved humans, then an Eldritch Abomination to a giant zombie then to mutated plantlife.
  • Garden of Evil: Tianchen's group come across a field of mutated plantlife which can infect people into a different breed of zombie.
  • How We Got Here: Averted. It looked to start out this way at the beginning with Tianchen fighting off hordes of mutated zombies, but then he somehow wound up going back ten years into the past.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: Gaao Fei's power after evolving lets him shoot targets from great distances due to a heightened sense of sight. He later gains the ability to control the path of his shots as well as charge his shells with explosive power .
  • Killer Rabbit: Shang-Biao the hamster became capable of taking down an entire group of mutated zombies by himself after eating some meteor fragments.
  • Mark of the Supernatural: Any evolved humans develop tattoos on their bodies when activating their abilities. Higher level ones get tattoos that spread over a good portion of their bodies.
  • Mistaken Identity: Tianchen gets a bounty placed on his head in Long Hua City for opposing the Zhao Family. Numerous wanted posters of him get plastered all over, but the likeness looks nothing like him as it was just an ugly caricature. To his surprise, he and Xiao Yu witness a group chasing down a guy with the exact look of the ugly drawing.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Hong Die, Lin Ling, and Lin Wei. Lin Ling looks suspiciously like Black Widow of Marvel fame.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: Tianchen doesn't know how or why he was somehow returned back hours before the time of the Zombie Apocalypse happening, but he intends to prevent the deaths of those close to him he had failed to save in his previous life.
  • Not Afraid of You Anymore: When the group gets separated at the mudslide, Lansha wakes to find herself with her old schoolmates, among them were three mean girls who used to bully her. When they try to torment her again, Lansha tells them off, saying they’re weaklings not worth her time.
  • Obviously Evil: Brother Lei is a bald stitch-faced guy with thin eyes who pretends to be a good Samaritan by leading survivors he finds to a "safe haven". Turned out he's the leader and only member of a Religion of Evil he recently made to worship his "god", a giant mutated plantlike monster hidden in a bunker, which he would feed survivors to.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: Along with the typical zombies, there are larger mutated ones that are far tougher to kill and more dangerous due to evolving.
  • Pint Sized Power House: Lansha becomes this after evolving, being able to take on hoards of zombies. She also crushes a big guy's hand in a handshake after he tried to intimidate Tianchen with his strength by attempting to crush his hand (which Tianchen didn't even feel). Luo Xiao Yu's little sister, Luo Xiao Xue, also becomes this after evolving when she smashes the front of a military vehicle.
  • Power at a Price: Forcing an evolution can lead to this, as Tianchen was smart enough to realize this fact, which was why he came up with a method to gradually grow his power to not trigger this. Those who do try to force out more power wind up turning into a mutated zombie themselves (a Fallen One). Han Li bragged to Tianchen he can't harm him because of his regenerative ability made the mistake of forcing his evolution when it became obvious he couldn't take on Tianchen as he was, which he winds up mutating into a mindless beast.
  • Rewarded as a Traitor Deserves: In the Wall City arc, one asshole betrays the refugee group out of jealousy of Tianchen and his friends. He gets captured and beaten on for his treachery while ranting about how it was their fault for not treating him with the respect he believes he deserves. When he goes on about how the crime lord he sold them out to will save him, said crime lord shoots him dead simply to shut him up.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Shang-Biao the hamster.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Tianchen breaks into a sadistic crime lord's base to rescue some hostages. Said crime lord mockingly greets and taunts Tianchen that if he wants to find the hostages, he'll have to play a sick game of survival. Tianchen answers by simply shooting the camera, not bothering to respond to him. The crime lord gets annoyed and calls out at him again using the PA system to do what he says, and Tianchen simply shoots the speakers without even acknowledging him.
  • Super-Strength: Tianchen acquires this after evolving himself, being able to take on high-level infected mutates that could kill an armed group like nothing.
  • Supernatural Martial Arts: Tianchen is able to grant himself this using piece of meteorite shards he finds, giving him an advantage on fighting the undead and oppressive people.
  • Tagalong Kid: Lansha, a girl Tianchen rescued from a school while trapped by zombies.
  • Talk to the Fist: Tianchen would shut up anyone trying to antagonize him with a well placed Megaton Punch. He doesn’t give a crap how strong his opponents believe themselves to be.
Mook: Kid, you think you're pretty tough, huh? Served in the army? Or from a martial arts school? Is that why you're so brave? Hehe... let me tell you something, killing someone isn't illegal anymore! I-
(Tianchen punches the mook hard enough to send him flying and dying on the spot)
Tianchen: Damn right killing is no longer illegal.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Tianchen himself level grinded in this at the beginning when he was brought back into the past with knowledge of his previous life in order to gain an edge the second time around. His friends, Gao Fei and Luo Lansha, were initially timid people but learned to become capable fighters under Tianchen.
  • Training from Hell: Tianchen puts himself through this the second time through to prepare himself for the zombie outbreak. He also puts Gao Fei and Luo Lansha through this to prepare them.
  • Traumatic Haircut: Played for laughs when Ah Bu arrogantly brags about how he has an army of evolved humans and that Tianchen’s group has no chance against them. Lansha suddenly does a Flash Step with her knives, appearing behind Ah Bu where his head gets completely shaved of all his hair save for a small tuft at front, making him look like an oversized baby.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Normal thugs do this with Tianchen, writing him off as some punk kid who'd be easy prey before getting fatally proven wrong. One such example was when he comes up to see a pair of armed thugs holding some of his old classmates hostage, preparing to rape one of the girls. They call him stupid for coming up only armed with a metal baton when they've got guns; Tianchen simply kicks the first thug hard enough to smash him out the window and fall to his death then throws the metal baton right trough the second thug's head.
  • Villains Want Mercy: Those who arrogantly underestimate Tianchen and his friends undergo this.
    • Fatty Wei, who had his men kill Gao Fei's mother and kidnapped his father, comes with an armed group to kill Tianchen, thinking he had the advantage of numbers and weapons. Tianchen kills them all, then beats up Fatty Wei a bit before tying him up who immediately began begging for his life and gets tossed into a warehouse full of zombies to be savagely eaten.
    • Gao Fei encounters Fatty's head lackey, who bragged to his face how he sadistically had his mother tied up and left for dead to zombies before ordering his men to kill Fei. When Gao Fei systematically kills off all his men, the lackey pissed his pants and begged him not to kill him. He gets a painfully brutal beating. Later, Gao Fei's dad finds the lackey and savagely beats him to death for what he did to his wife.
    • Zhao Ling defects from the group Tianchen was with after his family guards come by. Despite said group rescuing him and others from a gang of thugs, he tries to have them all killed to show off the power of his family as well as to "get back at them for making him work". Tianchen makes short work of the leader of the guards, causing the others to scatter before turning his wrath on Ling. Ling quickly tries to beg for forgiveness, even offering bribes to spare him. Tianchen snaps his neck, coldly saying he doesn't give second chances to those who tried to screw him over.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Rui Xue was Lansha's best friend in school, but when she became a different kind of infected, she became ruthless and powerhungry. When she learned Lansha and Gao Fei are evolved humans, she secretly tried to assimilate them to increase her power. Rui Xue attempted to absorb Lansha, but the latter does a No-Sell on her. Lansha was disappointed Rui Xue would choose this path and deceive her like this before killing her off.
  • Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: Tianchen, Fei, and Lansha earlier met a lone man in a small deserted town that had been overrun by zombies. The man was friendly enough to offer them shelter from their journey and stay the night. However, Lansha discovered to her horror that the man was secretly planning to kill them in order to feed them to his zombified wife he has tied down in his basement.
  • Zombie Apocalypse: The world gets thrust into this due to mysterious meteorites that crashed on earth, mutating anyone in the vicinity into zombies.
